Thank you Hopefruit!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats, LunarSea!
I got it from BWD on Twitter! :)
I have that on my computer. It’s very telling of who he is, that he’s been so consistent all these years.
Yeah. Every video. His message has always been the same. The mark of a true leader.
is my computer playing tricks on me or am I really 1st?
Yes, You Are and Yes, You Can. :)
amk…I was talking to myself and posting links for you so you could catch up on the Mittues (Mitt + issues) of the day. Did you see them?
Yes, saw them df and replied too. As I said, his ‘note’ to the poolers was nasty and mean. The frat boy bully in him never dies.
Congrats LunarSea on #1!
thanks guys. I was distracted off computer for a little, so taking a while to acknowledge.
We need a freaking dancing horse’
Where is Mark Knoller with all his detailed figures about cost to tax payers????
Eating? Sleeping? Pulling lint from his bellybutton?
I think he’s hiding in the bushes stalking the First Family at the wedding of Jarrett’s daughter!
Could it be that it was too hot and humid for the fluffy Mark Knoller?
this makes me scream–he gets a TAX DEDUCTION for this horse? because…? is it a charity horse? or a business horse? or a medical horse? or maybe it’s a blind veteran horse? how the hell does he get a tax deduction for this? and why? he’s a multimillionaire–surely if he wants to buy his wife a horse, he can do it without help and support from the taxpayers.
The #ItTakesAPillage tour certainly reveals the chicken in #ChickenhawkMitt …. wanted to be sure his buddy Sen McCain noticed …

Re-posting this over here for you Bobfr: I was inspired by your tweets about Romney and pillaging when I came up with that. I googled the phrase and it turns out I am not so original and clever. It’s the name of a book about the bailouts published December 7, 2010 by former Wall Streeter Nomi Prins entitled “It Takes a Pillage: An Epic Tale of Power, Deceit, and Untold Trillions”
Still, I think the phrase is a perfect fit for Mitt. It Takes a Pillage vs. Foward Together.
McCain is a fell into line and for Mitt at while ago, but recently he was back to his old, unpredictable self when he said “We have to limit the flow of money—corporations are not people.”
Thank you FiredUp!! Am grateful for the #ItTakesAPillage and to you for bringing the meme to all of us. And, now we have Nomi Prins’ book as a reference source for the power and price of avarice. Much appreciated.
Sen McCain, as with many mega-privileged children, is way too erratic to be entrusted with any genuine responsibility – his life’s history is a crystal clear lesson to that fact. But, on the few occasions he’s done something useful, we should make the most of it! ;)
Amen on this one Bobfr. Can you get another masterpiece for us on this one, please. Thank you Bobfr.HZ
You are too kind, HZ.
Please expect many to receive the following throughout the day, 17 June 2012 :)

That was mesmerizing. Thank you Hopefruit and BWD…..! I could listen to his voice always…
Me too DF. Mesmerizing is exactly the word I would use to describe that interview. He’s absolutely delicious. His consistency is just remarkable. That baritone voice makes me weak in the knees. He’s solid. Solid as Barack.
So young, so articulate, so smart, so prescient.
What a real treat. I really enjoyed the video Chips. His consistency is astounding.
both images present excellent commentary
Yes. Why are we STILL here?
Media, media, media…..ALL in the corporate GOP pocket.
I swear that that sums America’s problem.
ok that video was posted on my new “website I love to hate” Buzzfeed a few days ago. Today they had a whole series of videos from
1991 – 2004 but I can’t find them (somebody must have made them take them down)
YUP! I could swore it was on Buzzfeed but anyway THANKS for finding it!
You’re welcome…I found it via Buzzfeed..you’re not losing it.
I have a love hate relationship with that site too. Mostly love. And that Buzz Andrew guy actually answers my tweets. Hope they don’t go the way of Huffington Post or Politico.
LOVEEEEEE this video…..LOVEEEEE this President!
Sure didn’t see any teleprompters in this video! And I would suspect that Myth Robmey has so little true service experience in any way, shape or form, he is utterly unsuited to serve in any leadership position. I have not seen this footage of PBO, it is exceptional to witness how grounded and committed he has always been.
Yeah, I’m still scouring the internetz looking for video footage of a young Willard doing community service and what not..no luck so far.
You be very careful out there, HF, the interwebz is a great big place, and scary in spots! I am certain you will never find any such thing, of Myth doing decent things for others…. If they existed, he would be having them published all over the country, trying to prove what a great guy he is. Am I right?
well, there’s the photo of him riding his bicycle through paris, france—does that count?
Simply amazing. My Love for this great man is reaching a boiling point, it’s about to spill over & it won’t be pretty any more. Gaaaarrrrd I love my President.
LMAO! But yeah I can totally relate :)
Those effete limousine liberals like Klein and Hayes who think they are the smartest people in America need to look at these videos before they try to tell this man what he knew LONG before them.
Most. Consistent. Politician. Ever! Evah!!!!! Stability, continuity, security, credibility, integrity, trust, … These are the gifts, the emotions, this man so effortlessly inspires in all thinking people. For almost twenty years, the man he was then, is the man he is now and will always BE! So unique in the political world, yet so popular as far as what the people have longed for and need.
And don’t even get me started on that soothing voice you could listen to 24 hours on end with which he delivers those ever consistent and reassuring messages. Just don’t.
Goodnight wonderful people of TOD, Chips…..I’ve had enough excitement….for a mostly lurker…..to last me a month at least, what with coming first for the first time and all. Thank you so much for all you ALL contribute here, Queen Chips in primis for providing the safe place to do it in, of course.
It’s tough and ugly out there, but PLEASE don’t EVER doubt that good will win over evil, and our PBO is the epitome of good. We just need to keep fighting, believing and moving FORWARD!
Love you all!
Ciao, it’s 4 AM for me, the longest I’ve been logged on, sleep is winning now…..goodnight.
Thanks 44 for all your encouragement and support, and do have a good “night’s” sleep!
Thanks forward44 for saying so well everything I felt after watching this video of a very young Barack Obama.
Elizabeth Espinosa a host on KFNX talk radio in Phoenix has called PBO the first monkey president. Can tootle her and KFXN and let them know of your kind thoughts.
daiseymay1,These people are racists sick bastards.
At this point, we’ve seen it all. They are vying for attention now. I can’t even be bothered to address their evil ways anymore. They are set in stone.
google george bush and monkey images. Politics have been nasty for a long time.
George bush resembles a monkey. No one was making a statement about his race.
PBO does not look like a monkey. The monkey reference is a racial epithet.
Report them to Attack Watch?
She must be desperate for listeners. Personally, I no longer pay attention to these brainless trashy people. As far as I am concerned, monkeys are more intelligent than this woman.

Even more “pranks” from Mitt…none funny. More like humiliating
His pranks are always about hurting, humiliating people. There is a pattern of abuse of power.
Granted, he was a young man, but those kind of incidents were common in Romney’s life. Many people have done things in their youth that they’re not proud of, but in the case of Romney, we’re talking about MULTIPLE incidents.
He was a jerk. He still is. There is a meanness to his core. When he became an adult, it was no more about pranks. It was about abusing the power he had with his money. He destroyed lives and communities while he was enriching himself. He is a profoundly selfish and mean man.
I despise him much more than I despised George W. Bush. Bush was lacking in knowledge, sophistication, intelligence, judgement, and was blinded by ideology and fear , but he was not as mean, as cynical, as dishonest, as selfish as Romney.

Guess not:) I stay up just to watch what Letterman says every night…no shortage of jokes there!
The President is in my neck of the woods next Friday-
I don’t have the loot! I will wait for the rallies in September and October.
Jovie, Will you be going to see him?
No, I don’t have the money, not a high roller!
But, would love to see Him at future rally.

Preparations for the Democratic National Convention are humming along in this model city of the New South. But unlike their Republican counterparts in Tampa, Democratic organizers have a nagging distraction: constant second-guessing about the decision to put their convention in North Carolina.
Prominent union leaders decried rewarding the state, one of the nation’s least friendly to organized labor. Major unions announced they would not help fund the event. In 2008, labor groups contributed more than $8 million to the Democratic Convention in Denver.
Then came North Carolina’s vote last month to ban gay marriage. More than 28,000 people signed a petition to move the convention from Charlotte because of that vote, something that has no chance of happening.
Meanwhile, pundits have become increasingly skeptical about President Barack Obama’s Tarheel State prospects. Just look at the trends: A Democratic governor, Beverly Perdue, so unpopular she opted not to seek a second term; Republicans taking control of the legislature for the first time in more than a century; a state Democratic Party in turmoil after its executive director resigned in a sexual harassment scandal and its beleaguered chairman refused calls to quit.
Interesting- ok, this is in my Sunday local Paper… Sweet!
Second thought- the State will be tough, but it is centrally located, so it is strategy!
Make Robney spend money there, instead of that money going into Virginia.
BREAKING: Republicans Accuse President Obama of Trying to Get Re-elected.
Oh did you guys hear about butt hurt Rubio…HE IS GONNA PULL HIS IMMIGRATION PLAN…LMAO. So, when he was being encouraged by Senate Minority Leader Mitch the Turtle and Cornyn, the plan was the greatest thing since water, but now that the President DID IT rather than sit around committees debating whether to bring it up, IT’S THE PRESIDENT ONCE AGAIN DiSREGARDING THE CAWNSTATUTION.
Rubio’s rationale was that PBO’s decision makes it more political…And you can more or less put a nail on Ricky Rubio’s VP chances

At about 6 p.m., they were seen strolling along South Greenwood Avenue with Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson.

We Can’t Wait: President Obama Signs Executive Order to Make Broadband Construction Faster and Cheaper
White House Also Announces 100-Partner “US Ignite” Broadband Initiative
Tomorrow, the President will sign an Executive Order to make broadband construction along Federal roadways and properties up to 90 percent cheaper and more efficient. Currently, the procedures for approving broadband infrastructure projects on properties controlled or managed by the Federal Government—including large tracts of land, roadways, and more than 10,000 buildings across the Nation—vary depending on which agency manages the property. The new Executive Order will ensure that agencies charged with managing Federal properties and roads take specific steps to adopt a uniform approach for allowing broadband carriers to build networks on and through those assets and speed the delivery of connectivity to communities, businesses, and schools.
“Building a nationwide broadband network will strengthen our economy and put more Americans back to work,” said President Obama. “By connecting every corner of our country to the digital age, we can help our businesses become more competitive, our students become more informed and our citizens become more engaged.”
The White House is also announcing that nearly 100 partners—including more than 25 cities as well as corporate and non-profit entities—will join with more than 60 national research universities to form a new public-private partnership called “US Ignite.” The US Ignite Partnership will create a new wave of services that take advantage of state-of-the-art, programmable broadband networks running up to 100 times faster than today’s Internet. By bringing software developers and engineers from government and industry together with representatives from communities, schools, hospitals, and other institutions that will benefit from faster and more agile broadband options, the partnership aims to speed up and increase the development of applications for advanced manufacturing, medical monitoring, emergency preparedness, and a host of other services. These applications will improve services to Americans and drive job creation, promote innovation, and create new markets for American businesses.
The Executive Order (EO) will require the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Interior, Transportation, and Veterans Affairs as well as the US Postal Service to offer carriers a single approach to leasing Federal assets for broadband deployment. The EO also requires that available Federal assets and the requirements for leasing be provided on departmental websites, and it will require public tracking of regional broadband deployment projects via the Federal Infrastructure Projects Dashboard (permits.performance.gov). In addition, the Executive Order will direct departments to help carriers time their broadband deployment activities to periods when streets are already under construction—an approach that can reduce network deployment costs along Federal roadways by up to 90 percent.
Today, more and more of the Nation’s broadband infrastructure is capable of moving huge amounts of information quickly and in novel, programmable ways, but software developers have been unable to create applications that take full advantage of this new capacity—in part because potential user communities such as factories and hospitals have lacked the means to coordinate their needs with developers capabilities. The new US Ignite Partnership (www.us-ignite.org) will create a national network of communities and campuses with ultra-fast, programmable broadband services, operating at speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. This network will become a test-bed for designing and deploying next-generation applications to support national priorities areas such as education, healthcare, energy, and advanced manufacturing. US Ignite will challenge students, startups, and industry leaders to create a new generation of applications and services that meet the needs of local communities while creating a broad range of job and investment opportunities. This initiative will open up countless new opportunities for households and small businesses, helping them experience the economic and community benefits of next-gen applications while demonstrating a path for other communities to join.
Among the commitments being announced today by participants in the new partnership:
Industry partners offer support to partnership: Global industry leaders including Cisco, Juniper, NEC, and Hewlett-Packard are offering programmatic and in-kind support to communities while carriers, like Verizon and Comcast, are announcing new pilot cities on their network that will participate in US Ignite.
New tools for communities: Non-profits, like the Mott Foundation, are working with the partnership to deliver new community programs, such as hack days and startup weekends, to accelerate the transition these applications into the marketplace.
National coalition of universities: The National Science Foundation (NSF) is committing $20 million to prototype and deploy new technologies to advance the development of ultra-high-speed, programmable broadband networks. That is in addition to the ~$40 million that NSF has invested over four years in the Global Environment for Networking Innovations (GENI) project, which currently connects more than a dozen universities with next-generation broadband connections. Built with the technological contributions of more than 300 NSF-funded researchers at more than 60 universities, GENI is already serving as a virtual laboratory and testbed for next-generation applications in healthcare, energy efficiency, education, and other national priority areas.
Next-gen apps challenge to spur innovation: NSF and Mozilla Foundation, with support from the Department of Energy, are announcing a $500,000 design competition to develop applications for high-speed communities around the country.
Building on current broadband investments: Departments of Commerce and Agriculture are announcing their support for US Ignite with over six carriers that received funding for expanding their broadband networks while creating new community-based services.
Supporting military families and communities with new applications: Department of Defense is connecting military families on base with new US Ignite services, while creating new research opportunities to students at West Point. HHS’s Beacon Community Program, starting with the Mayo Clinic, and the Federal Communications Commission’s Rural Healthcare Pilot Program are partnering with US Ignite to provide new healthcare applications, such as remote surgical theatre and patient monitoring.
Additional details on these public and private commitments, and on the participants in today’s activities, are detailed in a Fact Sheet HERE.
Building on Success
These announcements build on past successes and the President’s commitment to deploying high-speed broadband networks as a nationwide foundation for sustained economic growth and prosperity. Broadband deployment programs already underway include:
NTIA’s Recovery Act projects are increasing broadband access in communities across the country, with more than 56,000 miles of networks providing broadband access to more than 8,000 schools, libraries, hospitals, and public safety entities.
USDA’s Rural Utilities Service is currently on target to complete over $3 billion in Recovery Act investments ensuring that rural communities and anchor institutions are connected to high-speed broadband networks.
By taking full advantage of the latest broadband technologies as they evolve, the United States can continue in its role as a global leader while strengthening its economy, building new industries and creating jobs.
US Ignite is an initiative to promote US leadership in developing applications and services for ultra-fast broadband and software-defined networks. It will foster the creation of novel applications and digital experiences that will transform healthcare, education and job skills training, public safety, energy, and advanced manufacturing. By serving as a coordinator and incubator of this ecosystem, US Ignite will accelerate the adoption of next-generation networks.
Good of you to post this critical information. I happen to be very familiar with the issues and my team is building breakthrough solutions that address directly the vision of US Ignite.

Romney advisers sound especially bullish, with one positing that a big win by their side is now more likely than a narrow Obama victory …”
That’s a quote from a Time Magazine article saying Republicans are getting confident this race is theirs.
Let’s cut through it: This election isn’t going to be a landslide in either direction, and nothing is even close to being over.
Donate $9 or whatever you can today and show you’re willing to fight.
We’re facing a tough political climate and an opponent who will stoop as low as he needs to — backed by a billion dollars pledged in outside-group spending.
Just a few days ago, one of Romney’s allies, billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, wrote a single check for $10 million. For him, and for many of Romney’s wealthy donors, that’s equivalent to $40 from an American family worth $100,000.
Here’s what I know. Their candidate wants to cut jobs for teachers, firefighters, and police officers. He wants to enshrine discrimination in the Constitution, repeal health reform, and gut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Romney is out of touch — he doesn’t understand the problems middle-class Americans face, and you can’t fix problems you don’t understand.
Team Romney thinks this is already over.
What do you say about it? Pitch in $9 or more today:
Let’s go win this thing.
Deputy Campaign Manager
Obama for America
This email is Scary!
It doesn’t seem scary to me. Stephanie Cutter is just laying out the facts and working to raise $$ to counter the RE-thuglicans money machines.
That email is truthful. Scary, yes…because this time the very real possibility exists that the huge amounts of $$ being poured in will steal yet another election. That the MSM is complicit in this, is also real. They refuse to ask the questions that need to be asked and demand accountability. They are all just TMZ reporters now, and the American people will suffer for their ignorance if this happens. We have to raise our voices, call them out, push people to do their jobs and fight like hell…before our country no longer looks anything like America.
I guess my point is, I don’t think we have time to be “scared”
My personal opinion is that it’s a waste of energy to be ‘scared’ We know they are trying to steal this election. The way we counter that is to work. Do voter registration. Donate when we can, take to neighbors and friends, volunteer for the Obama/Biden campaign.
Isonprize and Desertflower, you both are so right. I received this email from Stephanie, and knowing how focus the entire Obama/Biden Campaign Team is in Chicago, we all need to do just as you stated isonprize. Stephanie Cutter is an awesome team player, and she will do all that is within her power to encourage all of us to stand with PBO. Stay focus, work our behinds off, donate when and where we can, and make sure we are talking to family, friends, while presenting them with the facts about how important this election will be on Nov.6, 2012.
PBO is very much keeping his mind on the work that is at hand, and everytime he gets to speak to us, he tells us to stand with him and work hard with him. That keeps me motivated. The team in Chicago needs every hand, mind, heart, and dollar that will help them to generate all efforts to keep our democracy intact.
I hope and pray that PBO will have every cent that he needs to move against all of the nasty and vile operations that are and will come his way Most of all, he wants to know that we are working just as hard as he is working. I believe those of us who really want to see our country in a way that represents goodness, hardwork, fairness for all, respect abroard, and moving FORWARD into the 21st century will give PBO our full devotion and commitment.
So let us not be scared, but be prepared to move right now to make sure President Obama and VPBiden are re-elected. PRESSON and move FORWARD. HZ
Not to dismiss the e-mail, but campaigns do this all the time. I wouldn’t read into it. They’re just trying to keep you from being complacent. I’m sure they did the same thing in ’08.
I’ll also add that if the campaign was really concerned, they wouldn’t be putting it out there. That’s not how campaigns operate.
Look at it this way: campaigns that are floundering always push the illusion they’re ahead, or surging in the polls. Campaigns that are ahead, often talk about an opponent’s statements to fire up the base. They’re not going to show their cards and certainly aren’t going to send out an e-mail like this if they really felt it was moving toward ‘scary’. They have to feel comfortable about their position.
You should start worrying when the e-mails say, “Even though the national media has written us off and some polls show our opponent in the lead, we’re confident we have the votes to win this! It’s all about getting the vote out, so, please, if you can, send a donation so that we can close finally close the gap and overtake our opponent!”
Or some variation of that.
Wonderful video. Thank you so much for posting it. I see it came by way of hopefruit and BWD. He is so open and honest and smart and decent. I love watching these old videos because they confirm the President’s consistency. In all the videos I have seen I have never caught him in a lie. He never flip flops, doesn’t change positions for his audience of the moment. Is not self seeking but thinks of political office as a service to the people. Sometimes I wonder if we really deserve him. He and his family have had to put up with so much hostility and it breaks my heart because he is such a good man and he does not deserve to be treated that way.
It breaks my heart, too.
It tears my heart apart each and everyday. However, I have seen and had to endure so much of the same hatefulness in my life and with my uncles, aunts, and my sibling that I try to keep moving. So I really do believe that PBO reaches deep within his beautiful core to keep standing, and trust me he will.
It takes a very strong core to move amongst the vile, evil, and plain old hate that is thrown at him daily. Yes, it brings floods of tears to my heart, but then I think of how my mother, grandmother, grandfather, aunts and uncles kept their heads held high and their hearts close to their inner beliefs and their faith steady and strong that someday, somehow, it would all be worth the tremendous sacrifice. There is a power that is working on a higher ground that most of these hateful people will never have the honor to have their feet touch. PBO will though. Keep walking with Hope in your heart.
Great words of wisdom, HZ. Thanks.
I don’t know how you keep your soul so beautiful and pure HZ but I am glad that you do.
With President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney delivering dueling visions for the U.S. economy in speeches on Thursday, a majority of independents said that Obama’s policies have made it harder for Americans to gain employment, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Friday.
Are they kidding? Look to CONGRESS! If this is the case, some how, some way…that obstruction needs to be driven home!
desertflower, some times I wonder about these polls and the people answering them. Can Independents be so dam stupid? If I am to believe that poll. These people are playing right in the hands of the Republicans, that is why they sabotage the economy, because they knew that some people are so dam stupid as to blame it all on the President. No one shouldn’t have to drive anything home, those Independents should use their common sense. I bet if you were to ask them to name one policies which made it hard for people to fine work, they wouldn’t even know one.
df, this is the same shady poll that had Romney leading PBO by one point. Secondly, they failed to give any information or links to the actual poll/figures so that people could not see the crosstabs, demographic breakdowns, etc. This is nothing but a Romney propaganda poll, and it should be treated accordingly.
When I think back to the 2008 election I remember there were a lot of Republicans that switched their registration to Independents. It could have been not wanting to be attached to GW Bush. I wonder how many of those Independents get onto the polling call lists?
Which federal program took in more than it spent last year, added $95 billion to its surplus and lifted 20 million Americans of all ages out of poverty?
Why, Social Security, of course, which ended 2011 with a $2.7 trillion surplus.
That surplus is almost twice the $1.4 trillion collected in personal and corporate income taxes last year. And it is projected to go on growing until 2021, the year the youngest Baby Boomers turn 67 and qualify for full old-age benefits.
So why all the talk about Social Security “going broke?” That theme filled the news after release of the latest annual report of the Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Federal Disability Insurance Trust Funds, as Social Security is formally called.
The reason is that the people who want to kill Social Security have for years worked hard to persuade the young that the Social Security taxes they pay to support today’s gray hairs will do nothing for them when their own hair turns gray.
Flame me if you want, but I have been screaming about selling ACA as a job creator from the fucking rooftops and nobody listens. And yes, this time I am telling the administration what to to do. From the recent Reuters poll:
“Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, argues that the Obama administration’s healthcare reform has been bad for the economy, a view that now resonates with a majority of people.
Among registered voters, 57 percent said that they believe the healthcare overhaul has damaged the economy while 43 percent said the 2010 legislation has been good for the economy.”
This is not the media’s fault. This is the fault of the administration. ACA NEVER gets mentioned as a job creator. The only line about ACA in that excellent speech on the economy a few days ago — PBO going full in on his ‘private insurance’ approach. Seriously? That’s the one thing you can think of to sell ACA to a country that doesn’t get it?
When PBO decides to sell something, it sells. The provisions that he has chosen to sell — these the public gets. But he has largely ignored the big picture of this bill and it’s hurting us.
It is midnight, I’ve been working all day and will be working into the night so I have no filter. But I’m pissed about this. Seriously pissed.
I hear you. I think that maybe you would do well to call OFA/Chicago and let them know…have the message you leave put directly on the desk of the powers that be …to be assured that they get that message.
I hear what you’re saying 57andfemale. Below are two news items related to the “job killer” claim as it relates to the Affordable Care Act specifically and to media coverage generally. The ACA article offers hope and the media article offers a huge challenge:
Boehner asked his people to stop saying ACA is a job killer, because it wasn’t polling well.
“GOP adjusts health care strategy
By: Jake Sherman and Jonathan Allen
June 12, 2012 08:07 PM EDT
Speaker John Boehner recently told Republicans in a private meeting to change their tone on health care and fast: stop using “job-killing” to describe the Obama health care law.
Instead, emphasize that the law drives up costs and makes things worse for small businesses.
Why? The job-killing message was polling poorly, sources said.
The episode underscores both the GOP’s recognition that it needs to be ready to respond to the Supreme Court’s looming decision on the health care law and the delicacy with which Republicans must fashion that response.”
I don’t want to put a link to the source of this article but you can find it by typing a few of the words from the article and looking for a site that rhymes with Mowlitico.
Here’s a story about the “job killing” meme in general, which I don’t know how we can realistically combat this virus:
“Prof. Peter Dreier of Occidental College and Christopher R. Martin of the University of Northern Iowa found:
– Media stories with the phrase “job killer” spiked dramatically after Barack Obama was elected president, particularly after he took office. The number of stories with the phrase “job killer” increased by 1,156% between the first three years of the George W. Bush administration (16 “job killer” stories) and the first three years of the Obama administration (201 “job killer” stories).
– The majority of the sources of stories using the phrase “job killer” were business spokepersons and Republican Party officials.
– In 91.6% of the stories alleging that a government policy was or would be a “job killer,” the media failed to cite any evidence for this claim or to quote an authoritative source with any evidence for this claim.”
There have been ads selling health care reform but now it is in the hands of the Supreme Court. I believe he will start selling this after the Supreme Court makes it’s decision. At the moment it’s hard to sell if you don’t know exactly what it is you are selling. I was in conversation with someone tonight and we were talking about our real personal need (not political need) to have health coverage regardless of pre-existing conditions. All we could really say is “Let’s just hope for the best.” The President needs to know the courts decision before he reacts. I understand that.
57 is right about much of that, but don’t forget it isn’t just the Prez that has to sell it as such, it’s the rest of the damn dems, too. It’s just amazing how the GOPers and their biz supporters hammer away at the same talking points from all corners of the media universe. Most of the blame thrown at the “media” is whinning as far as I’m concerned. Getting our own act together is more important.
I think improving the healthcare system is part of my biggest support for PBO. I know first hand keeping myself knowledgeable on the topic has changed many opinions around me. I think we all need to let those around us know the truth about ACA and what they have done and are in line to do in these next few years. Making it personal is the answer. Relate it to them. You know what health concerns your friends or strangers even may be experiencing. Relate your answers to what are their concerns. You will be surprised about how little they actually know and how easy it is to catch their interest when it relates directly to their concerns. It can change perceptions from the people up instead of the top down.
if I ask you to show me the crosstabs or demographic breakdown of the sample used in the Reuters poll, you would not be able do either. This is a shady poll that had PBO trailing Willard by 1 point and they did not provide a link to the poll. I have not been able to find the crosstabs anywhere.
Obviously they skewed their sample but they won’t tell you that. There is no way Romney is leading PBO nationally. I continue to urge TODers to be skeptical and to challenge these polls by insisting on seeing the crosstabs and demographic breakdowns before assuming the validity of the results, because we know that pollsters have in the past and currently bias sampling to get an intended result – a result that usually HELPS the GOP.
It’s not that Romney’s led a dishonorable life. But he’s led a rarefied life behind heavy doors and conducted in the “quiet rooms” where he thinks inequality is best discussed.
I have a “love/hate” relationship with this guy…
Finally, wealth growth during the Clinton years looks as if it was mainly real, with only a moderate bubble component; wealth growth in the Bush years was all bubble.
We would want to return to this, on steroids, why?
Any TODobots still awake? I’m back from the surprise birthday party and am not yet sleepy so wanted to see if anyone would come out and play. Yoo hoo!
I’m still here, vc :) Talking to myself…but I’m here! How was your party??
It was good. Quite a few people I hadn’t seen in years, so I felt better about going. Usually I have to be talked into going to parties.
I am lurking…reading and updating comments.
Hi jojo! That’s what I’m going to try to do before the tiredness catches up with me, though now that I’ve settled myself I’m starting to feel lethargy creeping in.
Yeah! 3 of us :) Son’s at a friend’s, daughter babysitting, husband snoring…here I am!
You can’t say vagina in MI, but if you’re this guy, you can shoot your penis off. My brain hurts.
At least he has his other “weapon” that makes him a man….the gun.
Well…, at least he was using his own penis for target practice and not someone else’s, and maybe there’ll now be one less gun owner in MI!
:) good one vc….
I really don’t understand anyone’s obsession with guns.
Nuts. Might not have THOSE either….:) Crazy. I might have to say good night for now….getting tired. see you both tomorrow…
Ouch. I can’t even read it. Painful! (I don’t have one but I’m a liberal so I empathize).
I think I’m going to watch PBO’s vintage video up top, then go to bed so that I can be ready for tomorrow’s offerings. Sweet dreams Df & Jojo!
nite nite vc….I guess it’s just you and me df?
oops, didn’t see your comment df……nite nite to you too.

:) I may have to call it a day myself, jojo….10:45 here and even though I managed to take a nap today…the thought of bed sounds pretty good…..
Thanks, vc…see you tomorrow sleep tight
Goodnight Chips, jojo, and desertflower. Thanks for all of the wonderful links and conversations today. A big ((((((((( Love you so much,Chips)))))))HZ
happy father’s day!
I think this goes for most white people…
Come on, some white people can dance. Believe it or not not all blacks can dance.
Laughed so hard at this—–I’ve danced with all those guys—–and worse. I passed along to all my friends and fam, who will recognize all those wedding dancers—–and have attempted their own imitations in the past.
Happy Father’s Day Mr. President. And to all the other great Dads out there, Happy Father’s Day to you too.
So, I just read some here are pissed that the ACA is seen as a job killer.
Well, some of you here have a little money, go to the Circuit Court and suit Boner and Cantor for using Psyops on it’s Citizens.
You can’t use job killer, over and over again, use the Media and Suoer PACS to brainwash public, and it’s not true…
Come on, the other side would do it, if the tables were reversed!
Great day on #RomneyRoadShow yesterday. Cameras in all three stops in Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton. Ohioans saying no to #RomneyEconomics— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) June 17, 2012
At first blush, the FBI’s recent investigations into Arizona politicians appeared to be limited to just a handful of low-level state lawmakers who have been charged with federal crimes.
But records uncovered this week by TPM show at least one of the probes has been linked to some of the most powerful politicians in the state government as well as a shadowy conservative group known as ALEC, which has drawn national scrutiny for its outsized influence in state capitols across the country.
The investigation centers on an Arizona super lobbyist who was hired in 2009 by undercover federal agents. The agents posed as high rollers from what they said was a New York City company called Longford Solutions LLC. They came to town looking to make hefty deals to buy land from local governments and allegedly offered gifts like sports tickets to help grease the wheels.
The probe has already led to the indictment of state Rep. Ben Arredondo (D) on charges of bribery and attempted extortion. He has pleaded not guilty. Federal authorities say the inquiry is still ongoing.
MSM ignores it!
For stability resins, we are rooting for new democratic party in Greece-
Otherwise, this could be the Eurozones Lehman Brothers. This Vote is huge and I assure you, the Robney Camp, ironically is rooting for the Socialist, to blow it all up.
Here is to common sense, something Merkel does not have!
Ronald Reagan’s run to the White House was quickened by sluggish economies throughout America’s most important political swing states in 1980. Those states’ downturns doomed the then-sitting Democratic president.
Three decades later, a different swing state dynamic may end up helping the current Democratic president living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
A quick look at the latest labor statistics actually shows surprising strength in America’s most vital political swing states.
Ohio’s unemployment rate has been dropping steadily for a year now, and currently sits at 7.3%. Florida’s unemployment rate is now 8.6%, a full two percentage points below where it was just one year ago. And Virginia’s unemployment rate remains stubbornly low, as that state’s Republican governor lines himself up as a possible VP choice.
Add the lift that Barack Obama will surely get from Michigan and other Industrial Midwest states aided by the auto bailout and suddenly this year’s swing state math seems to break President Obama’s way.
Of course, it is only June. And as any good Red Sox fan knows, the games don’t really start to count until after Labor Day.
The author of this article, wait for it…, Joe Scarborough! Hmmmm! I would like to believe Him, but… What is He up to?
A couple tidbits from local news on Obamas. Michelle had lunch yesterday at Spaggia on Mich. Ave., President Obama got home about midnight from the wedding, showed arrivals of Eric Holder, Vernon Jordan, John Rogers (Obama friend and ex of Desiree’) Spending most of Fathers’ Day here—-late in Day Michelle leaves for commencement speech in Or. (brother’s coaching univ.) and PBO leaves for G-20 in Mexico. Hits keep on rollin’ for both.
