Des Moines Register hed: "Drivers in fatal boat crash intoxicated." Photo below: Romney piloting a boat. bit.ly/KRev0m— Romenesko (@romenesko) June 19, 2012
That was weird. too…But I didn’t even take it like that. I took it that Romney the “Everyman” was on a BIG BOAT, with 100 chosen people…not really connecting with ANYONE…That’s how I took that ludicrous photo :)
I shouldn’t have either, but oops! too late.
I’m sure this is why R’s are wigging out….they don’t like this smug SOB either:)
Who’s wigging out on the R side?
Famous words from Ann Coulter — “If you don’t run Chris Christie, Romney will be the nominee and we’ll lose” :-)
More MittFail. And he wants to call POTUS out of touch?!?! As David Letterman said, “I think Mitt is out of touch with what out of touch means.” SMDH.
Wonder who the “100 invited guests” were? More millionaires and billionaires? PACS?
And the wealthy women will “go to Europe” or have “spa vacation”….
Before Roe v Wade women with money (they didn’t have to be wealthy-just have $400-500) could get any willing doctor to perform a DNC. Women without funds (poor whites and poor minorities) ended up in back alleys. I have no idea how much a doctor will charge a woman to have an abortion today. But I’d bet my last dollar, that there are doctors who are willing to perform the procedure right here in the good old USA for the right price. Poor women will still end up in the back alleys.
I remember coathangers. Didn’t want to go there again.
Exactly. This is not a game.
I remember the backalley coathangers too. The wealthy girls got taken out of the country for abortions, the middle class girls got sent to an “aunt” for the duration, the poor ones got torn up by the back alley abortionists. Is this really what people want to return to?????
I guess the “pro life” people do.Do they even HEAR themselves?
Unfortunately, people who don’t remember that happening around the country think it’s a scary myth. That was life in the ’50s and earlier, for some women and girls. Way back in the 20th century. Of course, these Rs need to be brought kicking and screaming into the 19th century. There’s that.

Could Be A Very Big Deal
Reports from the sidelines of the G20 summit in Mexico suggest German Chancellor Angela Merkel might be ready to make a very big move to save the euro.
That’s why they call him “President Obama”. He went there meaning business and he’s getting it done.
I told my worrywart patron not to be too concerned over Europe, that Merkel would cave, because Germany gets so much benefit from the euro. I love it when I’m right.
Isn’t that a great feeling? Having never been wrong – it’s the only state of being I know… ;)
Yeah, my wife doesn’t like it when I say that to her. So I just stay smug on the inside, where it warms me.
Ha! Smart move…

An adviser to Mitt Romney confirmed an earlier report that the campaign is not seriously vetting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the Washington Post reports.
ABC News reported earlier Tuesday that the Romney campaign had not requested any documents from Rubio or asked him to fill out any questionnaires. An outside Romney adviser confirmed to the account to the Post, leaving on the table the idea that Rubio could be more seriously considered at a later date.
A second adviser who works directly for the campaign also confirmed to the Post that the campaign had only conducted a preliminary review of Rubio.
Before the Post’s confirmation, Republican pundit and Rubio ally Ana Navarro suggested the leak came from the Romney campaign and told BuzzFeed it was a bad move:
“The bottom line is someone in Romney campaign spoke out of turn,” she said. “Whether it’s true or false, who knows. But it sure was dumb. It’s going [to] take ‘em off their messaging for the day/bus tour and they’re gonna have to do some damage control. They unnecessarily dissed a very popular figure of the conservative base and the most prominent Hispanic Republican. Romney has nothing to gain from this.
Maybe Romney should pay attention to securing the nomination first. It appears that Ron Paul’s people plan to disrupt things. This should be a fun summer.
Oh be still my heart :) :) Operation Chaos.

Well howdy Os! great getting up day again in TOD universe, of course! Gonna set up the not so kiddie pool in the little area I designated as I non perennial area. I guess until the weeds get use to their new name, they’re just gonna grow where ever they darn well please. Weeds, maybe if I put them in fancy pots, they’d restrain themselves. Then there’s the washing of the pool that’s been stored away, blowing up the pool with this hand and foot held pump, gotta place the pool on a completely level surface, fill it with 508,943 gallons of water. What the hay…I think we’ll go to the water park later.
Political take today is the pic of the Robme’s above is just plain ol’ Mittiful. We got this, PBO has a path to re-election without Florida or Ohio via Colorado and Nevada. don’t pay any attention to the horse race that may seem close. Mitt doesn’t have the demographics, can’t get The Blahs, Latinos, women, or the younger educated populations. We just have to get them to the polls.
Caught a minute of the Robme’s going on stage somewhere. She was half running, smiling and bobbing up and down in her flowery dress like a weird woman in a Hallmark ad and dragging her husband along. He was doing that duck head down and look up through the eyelashes like a shy boy face showing a you love me, you really love me bull-shite look. I couldn’t take it. What phonies. Every time I see them I picture their magic underwear on under their clothes and that helps hold down the barf.
Goodness – quite the picture… 8O

I swear I hope they talk themselves into political oblivion.
They already have, but nobody’s told them yet. We will, in November.
The fact that he asked for her to abstain from expressing her endorsement tells you everything. He took Ted Kennedy’s seat, and he’s done an injustice to that legacy. And he knows it.
Please MA, dump this guy. He’s a disgrace to a fine state, and does nothing but funnel goodies away from real people and into the pockets of rich bankers and investors. I hope to see Mass Democrats come out in unprecedented numbers in November to vote for President Obama and Elizabeth Warren.
Somebody explain to me why he even bothered trying this dumb shit and didn’t just say “no thanks”. Anyone with half a brain knows that Mrs. Kennedy is a Democrat and will be voting for President Obama. Whether she shouts it from the rafters or keeps quiet about it, this is no secret. Now Senator Brown has given Elizabeth Warren’s camp a new ad — “Scott Brown is afraid to debate her, so he pulled a childish stunt.” Stupid punk.
Jees. Especially since there are debates scheduled that are sponsored by wingnut radio stations that have endorsed Brown.
How can you possibly be that dumb? Seriously.
Repubs once again, trying to shut up the women folk. Maybe he’s afraid that she might mention an unmentionable female body part.
As usual, doing a “drive-by;” just wanted to say hello and keep up the good fight. Trying to balance PBO volunteering and getting ready for July 4th. I’m “only” a week behind schedule… The only chairs in the house without clutter are my office chair and the “throne” LOL! Pray for me…

Obama’s Lawyer Demands Information on Group’s Donors
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
The lawyer for President Obama demanded on Tuesday that Crossroads GPS disclose its donors, saying in a complaint to the Federal Election Commission that the group is plainly a “political committee” subject to federal reporting requirements.
In the complaint, obtained by The New York Times, Robert F. Bauer, the campaign’s chief counsel, writes that the group — founded by Karl Rove, among others — can no longer shield the identity of its donors by defining itself as a “social welfare” organization.
“Crossroads seems to believe that it can run out the clock and spend massive sums of money in this election without accounting for a trace of its funding,” Mr. Bauer wrote in the complaint, filed Tuesday. “Now, a federal appellate court has issued a ruling that makes clear that Crossroads is out of time.”
The case Mr. Bauer cites is “Real Truth About Obama v. FEC,” in which the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled that the government must determine the “major purpose” of groups like Crossroads.

Sessions’ proposals “could leave America’s poor only $43.84 on average to spend on food in a month.”
I suggest that before Mr Sessions proposes this for some, he should try doing this himself…why is they only concern themselves with “fraud” when it effects low income people?
Maybe Mr Sessions and his pals would like to explain to these people why JPMChase needs HUGE corporate welfare (14 BILLION) and oil companies need corporate welfare (billions) but THEY have to try and eat for $43/month.

I hope Joe Biden campaigns non-stop in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and even goes to help in some important Senate and House races. I’ll be blunt: he can help with the constituencies who are less “comfortable” with PBO, and I named white seniors, white men, white blue-collar workers.
Joe Biden is a FORMIDABLE campaigner. I’m so happy he’s there to help President Obama.
And he is underestimated by the right… Which makes Him a Secret Weapon.
He’s underestimated by the whole damn media that likes to view him as a “gaffe machine.” Meanwhile, they give the REAL gaffe machine a pass. Yesterday, Lil’ Nate was all upset when fun was being made of Willard’s Hoagie purchase. He was also annoyed about the Etch-a-Sketch joke. Yet he never expresses annoyance when the MSM tries to make fun of VP Biden.
If I were in charge of msnbc—–and I can’t believe no one has thought of that—–I would slide Joy Ann Reid and Krystal Ball into that vacant spot. It would be the most brilliant decision of all time—–well, almost. Both are smart, up to the minute on every political detail and present the facts clearly and assuredly. Both also have a much needed sense of humor. (because they’re both smart) I hope msnbc sees my hot tip and takes advantage of it—-I can’t believe they are even considering S.E. Cupp—–that is like self-punishment—-’let’s see if we can attract the fewest viewers possible’. Need Reid and Ball—–spread the plea.
Great idea, but it makes too much sense for MSNBC.
That’s right Bill. From our vantage point, they are best choices, which makes them the WORST choices for MSNBainCapital.

What an absolute buffoon Romney is..I am no Rubio fan (not in the least bit), but the way the Romney camp is treating him. Geez. The only high profile hispanic in the GOP?!?! It’s fine to not pick him for the same reason they won’t be picking Christie—don’t want to have #2 overshadowing #1- but really? They confirmed to the WashPo that they are not vetting him, and the ones they are vetting are Portman, Ryan, Pawlenty, and Jindal. The kicker is that they ONLY confirmed Rubio, as someone they were not seriously vetting. It’s like yeah it could be any person really- but it ain’t gonna be Rubio. This should help him with the Jeb Bush’s of the world.
None of those VP selections, are of Any consequence.
I’m still a tad skeptical of that news—-it could be a big trick, altho I don’t think Willard is that clever. And it may be that Rubio has already been vetted——if they’re still bothering with that in the Repub Party—-sorta skipped that step with Palin—–and found too many issues ripe for the pickin’s. Rubio has a bunch of problem areas. And it may be as simple as everyone and their brother have noted—–Romney would look extra dull and old next to the younger and more attractive Rubio. Rubio would steal the spotlight, he and his former Dolphins cheerleader wife—-no one at all would care about Willard and Miss Ann. Or their fancy horse.
The Romney-Portman ticket . This has an EPIC FAIL sound to it!

The United States and Israel jointly developed a sophisticated computer virus nicknamed Flame that collected critical intelligence in preparation for cyber-sabotage attacks aimed at slowing Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon, according to Western officials with knowledge of the effort.
The massive piece of malware was designed to secretly map Iran’s computer networks and monitor the computers of Iranian officials, sending back a steady stream of intelligence used to enable an ongoing cyberwarfare campaign, according to the officials
Iran’s quest to possess nuclear technology: Iran said it has made advances in nuclear technology, citing new uranium enrichment centrifuges and domestically made reactor fuel
The effort, involving the National Security Agency, the CIA and Israel’s military, has included the use of destructive software such as the so-called Stuxnet virus to cause malfunctions in Iran’s nuclear enrichment equipment.
The emerging details about Flame provide new clues about what is believed to be the first sustained campaign of cyber-sabotage against an adversary of the United States.

G20: Important steps imminent?
// The British government is hopeful that when the big four European economies – Germany, France, Italy and Spain – meet President Obama and David Cameron tonight they will signal that they are ready to take an important step: To use European funds either to underwrite the banks or to buy the debt of troubled eurozone economies.
In simple terms this is a recognition that the eurozone economies are, to coin a phrase, all in this together. In the jargon it is a step towards debt mutualisation using two existing funds – the EFSF and ESM – but not issuing Eurobonds. //

[new article] Hispanic Voters Less Plentiful in Swing States nyti.ms/MnKaJ1— Nate Silver (@fivethirtyeight) June 19, 2012
Good ole Nate! His projections are mostly right on, his analysis is horrible, however!
My biggest problem with Nate is that what he predicts isn’t much different than what the average person could predict. He over-analysis elections to prove a point polls are already making. Look at Nate’s ’08 predictions and compare them to RCP – who did no statistical analyzing and instead focused on the overall polling average in each swing state and you’ll see they’re remarkably similar.
Even in ’04, their numbers, RCP’s numbers, were almost right on and that was a very, very close election. So, Nate can talk about numbers and figures all he wants, but in the end, his conclusion won’t be any different than mine or yours when you look at the polling, see Obama up by an average of +4 in Ohio, and conclude he’ll win the state.
You’re right. He’s gone from being a statistician to being a columnist and is mostly engaged in what I’d call slicing the baloney real thin.
I wonder if Mitt’s attacks against China, saying he’s going to take a “hard line” against them, impose new tariffs (i.e. tax increases on Americans buying Chinese goods), etc. – if he’ll have to flip flop on that, too.

Then, he dis him again by taking him back cause folks complained. Wow, nothing like being the second choice of yourself.
The (all-white) base thinks Rubio is their ticket to the Latino vote. Really silly.
If he is being “thoroughly” vetted, he will not pass muster. He has too many financial problems.

New post everyone:
On her show today, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell responded to criticism of the network’s decision to run an edited tape of Mitt Romney’s remarks about the Wawa convenience store chain, but the network has not clarified why it ran the edited version of the tape.
“We ran clips of Mitt Romney in Cornwall, Pa., talking about his trip to a Wawa,” Mitchell said. “Well, the RNC and the campaign both reached out to us saying that Romney had more to say about that visit — about federal bureaucracy and innovation in the private sector. We didn’t get a chance to play that, so here it is now.”
Mitchell’s response did not satisfy many critics, especially those on the right, who saw it as a non-apology.
Meanwhile, MSNBC did not respond to requests — before and after Mitchell’s segment — for an explanation as to why the network aired the edited tape.
UPDATE: An MSNBC spokesperson emailed the following at 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon:
“MSNBC did not edit anything out of order or out of sequence and at no time did we intend to deceive our viewers.”
