Somehow I doubt that PBO was actually fooled by the false CNN headline about the mandate being struck down – more likely, he probably already knew the decision and was aghast that CNN would make such a made a mistake, or deliberately report false information.
There was a law professor on C-span radio this evening as I was driving home and he spoke about this. He said that he worked at the SC as a law clerk for Chief Justice Rehnquist. He then went to work for VP Joe when he was the judiciary chairman. He said the confidentiality was like night and day. He said that when you go to work at the SC you are told by the chief justice to never ever leak anything. He said this is even down to the administrative assistants. No one leaks. They see their jobs at the SC court as a privilege and that everyone takes that seriously. He said congress is just the opposite. There are leaks everywhere all the time. He said that took some getting used too after working at the SC.
Hearing this I am inclined to agree that the President didn’t have a clue ahead of time and CNN Sucks.
Okay, I’m resetting everything that I lost when I had to do a system recovery on my PC. This site looks different now. there’s this gray bar at the top of the page that says the obama diary, follow, like, reblog, my username and a box that when i click on it says notification. I never had that bar before the great crash. how do i get rid of it.
Why you wanna get rid of it? It’s great for me. The notification bar let’s you know when someone responds to one of your comments even in a previous thread.
Cookemom, I think you want the little ‘notifications’ box. It tells you when someone has replied to your post. The old way, first you had to remember where you posted something, then you had to scroll back to see if you could find it and read the responses.
This new way – with the ‘notifications’ – you can stay on the same thread, but click the little box and see where the response was posted, what the person said, AND you can respond to it. ALL without leaving the thread that you are on. For me, it’s a little gray box that turns orange when someone has replied to one of my witty comments.
Yours should be orange now because you’ve gotten some responses. I think it’s one of the things that WORDPRESS got right…
Hi All! Nothing like a rousing Money Bomb to charge up the economy! This is So. Much. Fun! OFA will boom today, with millions of us making a difference, unlike Myth’s 4 donors who equal millions…. Yes. We. Can! Love ya’ Chips!
Looks like good ol’ Chuck T. is going to try to throw a bucket of cold water on the health care decision on network news tonight. It’s a familiar pattern with him. He’s really got a thorn in his butt.
Pres. Obama's first major hurdle for the casmpaign has been cleared but can #hcr ever become an asset for him? More on @nbcnightlynews— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) June 28, 2012
got yez pretty foot threw a little in the kitty! Got 1 or 2 others too – will do more tomorrow! I sent everyone emails who donated but a hardy thanks again to all who threw something in for me! it’s all for a good cause!
I just got one, too as I was getting my credit card to respond to the president’s e-mail. So happy about the ruling today. I put on my “I like Obamacare ” t shirt and wore it all afternoon at the beach. Thanks to Chips for this great site.
This week PBS aired a Frontline program “Dentists and Dollars.” My station will repeat it tonight. It deals primarily with Meicaid patients, but also touches on the huge number of Americans who can’t afford dental care. One outfit featured, Cool Smiles, sets up clinics for Medicaid patients around the country. It was run by a private equity group. Turns out that they pressured their employees to meet increasing quotas, pushed caps (bigger payoff that fillings) and were doing substandard work. Quite a racquet. Private equity principles in medicine leaves out the patient (how insurance companies like to operate) and when applied to government, will do the same for the people.
Yeah, that is so uncool. It’s almost like they treat your mouth as not a part of your body. Dental caries (cavities) are the most common disease. And when a cavity goes untreated (really untreated, I’m not talking about waiting a few days until you can get to see a dentist…) you can actually die from blood poisoning. The problem is horrible within the disability community. Many people with special healthcare needs have to be sedated to receive dental care. There are situation where the dental care is covered, but the anesthesia is not.
Cruel and mean-spirited!!! WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN, even the dumbasses who don’t want to be taken care of. Like someone posted earlier. The older guy who loved the care he got at his VA, but hated Obamacare.
. . .
Somewhere in these next few years, moving FORWARD as a country, we have GOT to get back to caring about fellow Americans.
Hopefully, folks like Ms. Walters will pay careful attention when they vote for politicians who make decisions that cut services to families who ‘can’t afford anything’
. . .

On a lighter note, So, I tried to buy tickets online for movie I want to see tomorrow is already sold out at like 2 theatres! All the tickets were bought online. Wow! That’s the first time that’s happened when I’ve bought tics online.
The movie is Magic Mike. I had to call the box office. There had better be some nice physiques and lots of partial nudity in this movie for all this trouble I went to to get tickets. This is girls night and all the girls (i.e. me and my gays as Kathy Griffin would say) wanted this the fun part of our “drinks and fun” girls night.
Here we go! Defazio says The Ddemocratic caucus will not sign the 120 billion dollar highway bill.
Saying, we wanted taxes in the rich!
Yes! Defazio, so do I, but that is impossible.
To an ideolgue like defazio, he feels Principle is more important than legislation!
Both sides ideologues make terrible legislators, which requires compromise!

oh i see, it is orange, but i never use to have a box at all. I never knew the old way. This box is distracting to me. This only happened since I had to reset everything after I had to do a system restore. I’m not a fan of the grey box, don’t like the grey box. It is taunting me.
My view is different from a few days ago too cookemom. It must be something with google chrome and wordpress or something. WP kicked me out about two times and after I logged back on the grey bar is there and the tabs are different.
“As a result of the action taken today by the House an unnecessary court conflict will ensue. My efforts to resolve this matter short of a such a battle were rebuffed by Congressman Issa and by his supporters. It’s clear that they were not interested in bringing an end to this dispute or even obtaining the information they say they wanted. Ultimately their goal was the vote that, with the help of special interests, they now have engineered. Whatever the path that this matter will now follow, it will not distract me or the men and women of the United Stated Department of Justice from the important tasks that are our responsibility A great deal of work for the American people needs to be done. I’m going to be getting back to it. I suggest those who orchestrated this vote do the same. ” – Attorney General Eric Holder
———–
I love how he shot that look of determined assertion across both sides of the room, then just walked away from the podium when he finished. Only way it could have been any better would be if he’d thrown the mike on the floor and sauntered off to some Aerosmith guitar licks playing over the speakers.
Holder’s response was brilliant and perfect. He’s the adult rightly castigating wayward and silly children in Congress who do not know how to act responsibly. I loved when he said that this nonsense will not deter him and that he’s determined to continue to do his job. Whatever Issa and his fellow morons hoped to accomplish, it is Eric Holder who stands tall today–a man who commands our respect and admiration. Issa and his clown cohorts look like mean-spirited, stupid little worms.
In an email to supporters under President Obama’s name, the Obama campaign asks supporters to stand with him in the wake of the health care decision:
This is a good day for millions of Americans who can continue to benefit from the protections and economic security provided by the Affordable Care Act.
While the Supreme Court’s decision should put to rest the debate over health care, Mitt Romney and the Republicans in Congress just can’t take yes for an answer.
My opponent said a short while ago that the first thing he would try to do as president is repeal the health care law. We can’t allow that to happen. So we have to win this election.
I always feel bad that every time—-it seems— right after I have just donated a chunk, like I did today, I get a request from President Obama and I feel like I’m letting him down.
Dotster, we all do. If we donated every single time we got one of these e-mails, we’d all be homeless and without groceries. Sometimes I get a fundraising call on the same day I’ve donated and even then I feel bad. I wish I had piles of money that I could give to the campaign, but sadly I, like every one else, has to live with the reality of a limited budget.
——————————————————-
At the beginning of this year, Republicans announced one of their top priorities was to investigate the Administration and to ensure that President Obama was a one-term President. Despite the major economic challenges facing the country, they talked openly about devoting taxpayer-funded, Congressional oversight resources to political purposes.
The problem of gunwalking was a field-driven tactic that dated back to the George W. Bush Administration, and it was this Administration’s Attorney General who ended it. Attorney General Holder has said repeatedly that fighting criminal activity along the Southwest Border – including the illegal trafficking of guns to Mexico has been is a top priority of the Department. Eric Holder has been an excellent Attorney General and just yesterday the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee acknowledged that he had no evidence – or even the suspicion – that the Attorney General knew of the misguided tactics used in this operation.
Yet, Republicans pushed for political theater rather than legitimate Congressional oversight. Over the past fourteen months, the Justice Department accommodated Congressional investigators, producing 7,600 pages of documents, and testifying at eleven Congressional hearings. In an act of good faith, this week the Administration made an additional offer which would have resulted in the Committee getting unprecedented access to documents dispelling any notion of an intent to mislead. But unfortunately, a politically-motivated agenda prevailed and instead of engaging with the President in efforts to create jobs and grow the economy, today we saw the House of Representatives perform a transparently political stunt.
They’re already in a panic. Just got a recorded call from Americans for Prosperity, asking me to stay on line for a conference call on how the grassroots is going to respond to the outrageous health care law decision today. Click. Goodbye Kochroaches.

Yes. ActBlue is a legit organization where you can donate money to them and they distrube funds to Democrats or you can donate through ActBlue to a specific Democratic candidate of your choice.
Dudette and Jojo, thanks. The question came from a friend who wants to donate. I want to direct her to our fundraisers. Is there anywaybI can post all on one page?
I give to individual candidates through ActBlue. I established an account there. There are super legitimate. A friend of mine is a state legislator and uses Actblue. Good way to keep track of who you are supportig.

Welcome visitors from Buzzfeed, Hot Air, Talking Points Memo, The Huffington Post, The Gateway Pundit, and yes… even The Blue Mass Group. Here is our response to the manufactured controversy about the op-ed below. While you are here may we suggest you also check out our extensive research on RomneyCare which can be found here: RomneyCare – The Truth about Massachusetts Health Care
There is also a quote there by Ronald Reagan which is sure to be of interest.
yeah, I saw that. The USA Today is no longer on their website. The Romney site is of less interest than the fact that NRO just doesn’t like Romney. And at least the Romney site has the op-ed. They can try to spin it, but Romney basically urged Obama to adopt Romneycare.
The medical industry has more jobs than they can feel because of the specific technical expertise and training needed. I only wish there were more entry level training positions.
Hey guys!! Today was a good day. Only two bad things happened. 1 was the fact that I didn’t get to see Michelle Obama today, but my co worker went and he showed me the up close pics of him shaking hands with her and while I was jealous, I really appreciated him sharing the experience (btw, I told him I was jealous and I’m not ashamed. He just laughed and told me I was crazy). I guess, I’m really not jealous, I just wish I could have been there with him. The other bad thing was when a co-worker came up to me and said, “They passed Obamamcare today(with a real disdain in her tone) and now I have to worry about losing my SS and Medicare.” She said that 200 million people were going to lose their jobs as well. I told her that you don’t have to worry about your SS or Medicare.I tried to explain to her a little about the Medicaid part of the law. But I know I didn’t do a good job because I was so thrown off by her coming up to me saying that. She knows that I’m an Obamabot because she passes my cubicle with my Obama pics everyday. So, I know she was trying to rile me up. I need to get better with counter points when people come to me spouting talking points that they have heard from FOX and other MSM. I am going to be more prepared and calm in future situations.
HZ, I donated a little something to you. I love ya Lady!
Politicians who can’t take a position on an issue unless it serves their interest need to take a page from the President’s playbook. PBO has been hammering home the ‘because it’s the right thing to do’ point and it is to be hoped that they are listening. Of course we as voters have to do our part by always rewarding politicians who do the right thing.
@joshtpm: One of the reasons *I* love President @BarackObama is that him being candid is not dependent on un/favourable circumstances.— Vick C. (@sonamie) June 29, 2012
Most peole that answer polls saying the don’t like The ACA also answer that they like what is in it. THEY LIKE WHAT IS IN IT. I know a lot of good people are working hard on this, but ALL OF US, the Campaign, Pro POB PACS, the DNC MUST be relentless telling Americans in simple terms what the ACA really does.
FIRED UP ——— READY TO GO!!
I got an email earlier today from a Sistafriend. Between the two of us, I am the political junkie- we don’t talk politics very much. But, her email was so simple. She said,
” I was worried FOR HIM.”
She didn’t have to explain to me who HIM was. I understood.
I respect President Barack Obama for many reasons, most among them is the fact that he inherited a mess, and in addition to trying to clean it up, he CHOSE to tackle healthcare. It wasn’t the ‘safe’ thing to do, but it was the right thing to do.
There has been a concerted effort from the moment this President was sworn in, to diminish and disrespect all that he has done and tried to do. To try and erase this man’s place in history.
Today’s decision will take care of that.
Loved this final piece from Rev. Al’s show yesterday.

I will instead throw those dollars toward President Obama’s re-election campaign.
I’ll bet almost all of them are from rural areas with a large number of gun nuts and they are afraid of the NRA coming after them.
I don’t think Hochul is though. Frank.y, there is no excuse given the circumstances of this whole fiasco.
You are correct, it is no excuse but it is the reality.
I agree. The NRA said they “were taking names”. So in other words, no money for you in you don’t vote to hold AG Holder in contempt. All of them should kicked in the arse and thrown out of office.
Ross and Boran are retiring….why did they do this ?
Who knows what they have lined up for themselves.
I stopped my donations to the DCCC a long time ago. All my money goes to President Obama too. These 17 are true cowards. Shameful.
I was disingenuous, because I stopped donating to them too. I only donate to President Obama, but this is the reason I stopped during the mid-terms.

I have to agree with you. As PISSED off as I am at these profiles in cowardice, they’ll give Nancy the gavel back. That gavel has magical powers.
I donate to separate campaigns. I actually still get calls from Allan Grayson’s campaign every single night, but I don’t answer.

Ha ha ha! “Romnesia!” GOOD ONE!!
romnesia could be the name of the new country, where all the tea bags and rethugs could self-deport to avoid affordable health care!
There were people actually vowing to move to Canada. You know, the place with no public healthcare.
Now that’s funny.
Romnesia – noun
1. a political disease wherein the sufferer forgets video and written record of previous positions while vehemently railing against the opposition stance; flip-flopping on steroids; symptoms also include chronic lying, lack of intellectual heft and fear of journalistic inquiry.
2. a remote island country in the north Atlantic, founded in late 2012 after landslide re-election of Barack Obama by former tea baggers and rethugs, climate change deniers who chose to self-deport. Tragically, the island was overtaken by rising sea levels and a massive swarm of sharks whose habitat was destroyed by oil spills.
…but their leader, sarah palin, was last seen floating away on a big raft of her hair.

I’d like to sling a huge loogie at that creep!
Yes, it will. Too bad that water you’re carrying for the GOP won’t ever become an asset for you.

Dental is not offered for CA medicaid patients which is a real shame. It was proven that heart diease is traced to poor dental hygiene.

Somewhere in these next few years, moving FORWARD as a country, we have GOT to get back to caring about fellow Americans.
Hopefully, folks like Ms. Walters will pay careful attention when they vote for politicians who make decisions that cut services to families who ‘can’t afford anything’

I have tickets for Saturday evening. Let me know if Mike was truly magical? LOL

Reposting this from above…..
Cookemom, I think you want to keep the little gray ‘notifications’ box. It tells you when someone has replied to your post. The old way, first you had to remember where you posted something, then you had to scroll back to see if you could find it and read the responses.
This new way – with the ‘notifications’ – you can stay on the same thread, but click the little box and see where the response was posted, what the person said, AND you can respond to it. oh i see, it is orange, but i never use to have a box at all.

Say you’re with me on the Affordable Care Act:
http://my.barackobama.com/This-Decision
Thank you for all that you do.
Statement by White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer on Today’s Contempt Vote in the U.S. House of Representatives
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/06/28/statement-white-house-communications-director-dan-pfeiffer-today-s-conte

The White House just released a photo of President Obama calling Solicitor General Donald Verrilli to offer his congratulations in the Oval Office, moments after learning that the Supreme Court upheld his health care reform law.

I remember hearing the pundits from both sides saying the solicitor generals arguments were weak, he has no passion, blah blah blah….now they have raw egg on their faces. SG Donald Verrilli should be on the cover of TIME…not Roberts.

Anybody know anything about ActBlue. They are soliciting money. Is this a legit organization?
Ask them how much of the money they collect goes to directly the candidates and how much goes to “overhead”.
If the name of Jane Hamshir and Adam Green mean anything to you , no do not give your money to them. You can check them out at open secrets.com .
I give to individual candidates through ActBlue. I established an account there. There are super legitimate. A friend of mine is a state legislator and uses Actblue. Good way to keep track of who you are supportig.

I know right?! seriously. I need her back in charge. Bonehead is simply too ridiculous.
I just wanna thank Nancy Smash this evening. When Scott Brown was elected, and Democrats began to despair, she told them to buckle up and gird those loins and helped the President drag the ACA over the finish line.
thank you, Nancy Smash.

LL…when I clicked on your NR link…that link had the USA today op ed link…when I clicked on that…it was redirected to Mitt Romney site..with THIS :
Welcome visitors from Buzzfeed, Hot Air, Talking Points Memo, The Huffington Post, The Gateway Pundit, and yes… even The Blue Mass Group. Here is our response to the manufactured controversy about the op-ed below. While you are here may we suggest you also check out our extensive research on RomneyCare which can be found here: RomneyCare – The Truth about Massachusetts Health Care
There is also a quote there by Ronald Reagan which is sure to be of interest.
So it never linked to the USA Today op ed…they funneled it to the Mitt site and had this “Welcome” message..so they could spin….
yeah, I saw that. The USA Today is no longer on their website. The Romney site is of less interest than the fact that NRO just doesn’t like Romney. And at least the Romney site has the op-ed. They can try to spin it, but Romney basically urged Obama to adopt Romneycare.
I tweeted her my sincere thank you and respect today. Without her we would not have health care!
I love you Nancy Smash! Will go tweet my gratitude.

Ask her “Where the hell did you get that 200m people are going to get laid off, you frakking dimwit?” But do it with a smile.
LOL!! LL, I will do that next time. It was really ridiculous!!
Great toons. The pre-existing condition was the tops.
