Congrats on being first, UT. I read in the previous threat about your comments on Pelosi on MTP. Can you elaborate here again, or redirect me to your comments? Thanks.
Hey Betsy, I didn’t comment about Pelosi on MTP. But I did comment about Pelosi on MHP Show. Here are my comments:
If you missed Nancy Pelosi on MHP Show, you missed a LOT. She reminds of Ted Kennedy. She has the heart of a lioness. The way she beautifully compared Pres. Obama to JFK, the way she stood firm on ObamaCare, the way she refuted and challenged any negative attack on ObamaCare was beautiful. She is a champion and a fighter!
She made ObamaCare personal. Talked about how it positively helps children, women, men, families, college students. Every freaking demographic.
Then she closed by referencing Teddy Kennedy and how when he knew his brain tumor was getting worse, wrote a letter to Pres. Obama and asked that it be delivered to PBO when he, Teddy, died. She said that PBO told her that Teddy wrote that Pres. Obama reminds him so much of his brother JFK who brought hope to a beleaguered nation. She said that Teddy told PBO that he was just like JFK in that he and JFK are/were young dynamic leaders the nation needs/needed at a crucial time. That Teddy told PBO that though he’s dead, he has the utmost confidence that PBO would continue the fight for healthcare reform. That this is PBO’s time. That this is PBO’s moment and this moment in time has been waiting for Pres. Obama in particular. No one else. That it would be Pres. Obama and no one else who would make healthcare reform a reality. She ended by talking about how Teddy emphasized that he knew Pres. Obama would do it. That he will not be there physically but he knows that Pres. Obama will accomplish history.
After ObamaCare was ruled constitutional, Nancy called Vicki Kennedy and told her that Teddy can now rest, that Pres. Obama has accomplished history and Teddy can breathe a sigh of relief and they both began sobbing uncontrollably.
Her interview brought to home once again how historic ObamaCare is. 5 years….10 years….20 years from now, we will look back on this moment and smile because healthcare will finally be a right and not a privilege.
That was beautiful. I’ll have to check out to see if there’s a video of it. Thanks so much UT. You write so beautifully, you remind me of my son, who writes the same way. It’s as if I’m there watching it too. Thanks again.
You’re right the MHP Pelosi interview was awesome. MHP will air my segments next week. We really need Speaker Pelosi back in the driver’s seat. This means everyone needs to own their vote. Lies funded by lots of money should not dissuade us from spending our one vote wisely. Health care coverage for all Americans, equal rights for LBGT citizens, real and compassionate immigration for Americans already here, and protection of women’s right to choose means we have to use it to speak truth to the craziness, lies, homphobia, hate, racism and sexism being promoted by the KKKGOPTEAPEES.
Are you surprised?
Keith O. on This Week was fabulous in support of PBO and ACA: He said that the main job of a president is to protect his people and Barack Obama has done this and critics who oppose ACA are on the wrong side. Yes!
In one segment Chris Wallace just exposed McConnell for the fraud that he is. Repubs don’t have a plan and McConnell almost makes Michelle Bachman look smart. It was so bad that all he could do was keep changing the subject and babbling incoherently. I can do without the roundtable but week after week I’ll take Wallace over the rest of them when it comes to Q&A.
his stupidity was almost painful to watch – i detest that creep turtle mcconnell!
I gotta hand it to Chris Wallace who did an excellent job pushing the issue with McConnell. Very interesting to watch.
Chris Wallace has his moments but I still don’t trust him.
Keith spoke up many times today on a variey of subjects and was on the money each time.
For those who might still be angry at Keith: He apologized a long time ago for his initial opposition to ACA. He has said “I was wrong.”
I hope we hear a lot from keith leading up to November.
He will forever be a loose cannon, but when he’s being sensible, he is one of the sharpest advocates we could have. If he could direct all that talent and energy into a positive result, we’d be lucky to have him. But I cannot trust him to be that disciplined. I’m glad he had a ‘good’ day today. Whether we like it or not, these morning shows matter and they are tilted dangerously to the right.
I need to email NBC at least once/week about David Gregory and the outrageous slant toward the right (and that includes Blue Dog Dem’s. I will not let them off the hook for that. Not until they find a ‘moderate’ Republican currently in office).
Keith Olbermann also put his Money where his money is. KO donated for many free clinic events. He raised money while he was on MSNBC. I wrote to Mark Cuban while he he wrote a blog on HuffPo some weeks ago to think of hiring KO, since Mark Cuban hired Dan Rather on his HDNet. I don’t tweet. I don’t know if Mark Cuban or Robert Redford have tweets, but they have Cable. They can allow another Liberal, Progressive voice out there on their stations. That is how our messages get out. Romney will raise over $100M in June. We need our voices and unabashed personalities as KO to at least forcefully challenge the MSM. Fox is a lost cause. We need strong voices. We have the issues and the people. We have just got to know that we have to out smart the TBGOPers.
Yes we can and yes we will. We will prevail and dominate. yes indeed.
I would rather have Keith Olbermann in my corner rather than some of the Dems in our party but I agree with PM Carpenter on KO. He wrote a great post a few months that exemplifies how I feel about Olbermann. Read the whole thing if you get a chance;
“Olbermann, I would think to myself, is better than this. He is manifestly a “good man,” clearly in possession of good intentions, but his on-air persona appears to be approaching a kind of reverse-Oscar Wildean mutation: his core, internal goodness is there, plain to intuit, but his pursuit of ‘the Cause’ is rendering him hideously self-righteous.”
Can’t stand that Turtle McDonnell. Won’t even watch the video since I can already hear him iffing and butting about repealing the ACA. They never say anything new and just lie and lie and lie.
Wallace asked him how Republicans plan to cover 30 million people and would not let go. McConnell tried to stall until the commercial brake but got exposed. It was not pretty but very satisfying.
They know they’re screwed.
This guy is disgusting.
Mitch (@McConnellPress) McConnell Struggles to Outline #GOP Health Care Alternative. This is a Must Watch! youtu.be/UTyANr6zhdo— (@utaustinliberal) July 01, 2012
thank you for tweeting this UT. People need to know what these rightwingers have in store for them
@BetsyMTP #KOCHSTER @McConnellPress Offers zip to uninsured Americans youtube.com/watch?v=UTyANr… Except stay uninsured & lies. #OBAMACARE— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) July 01, 2012
McConnell needs to unwire his mouth and rewire his brain.
McConnell did EXACTLY what he intended to do. He perpetuated the insidious republican lie that keeps this law unpopular. They keep doing it and not getting called on it. This is a law that keeps, but regulates the already existing private insurance industry. It is NOT anything close to a European style government run healthcare system that cuts out the private insurance industry. (that actually costs less and gets better results, but Billy Jo Jimbob isn’t ready for that yet) Half of the republican lies about the merits of ObamaCares become unsustainable if that misperception gets addressed.
I hope to God we are close to Romney in Fundraising this month?
Sooner or later, Robney is going to run out of MillionAires, to get donations from, they all ate pretty much maxes out.
Let’s hope Priorities USA does good.
Also, not a peep out of the media about the President supposedly begging for money. So, not a big story, or fudged!
Its from the daily beast…no one pays attention to Tina Brown an her whorish ways.
HuffPo joined them the Daily Beast too for over 12 hours, Front Page, Huge headlines. I went in there from the time it went up and wrote ferociously. I was able to get some to join me in trashing HuffPo. Many of my posts were posted. Usually I get many deletes when I go after HuffPo. I used Greece, in need and desperately begging for Cash, yet HuffPo never Used BEG to describe their problems. It was posted and I had others agreeing with me. We have got to fight the Media, and TBGOPers.
Good morning Jovie! There is a story on Huffpo but I’m not going to read it or provide a link. #Forward!!
Since Romney lies about his fundraising, and the msm doesn’t look into it, we probably won’t be close. I am not real happy with the campaign’s fundraising methods anyway. They asked for donations for the SC decision on health care, and then never acknowledged the response of donors. They could have at least told us how many people donated. Instead we got doom and gloom e-mails,”OMG we have no money Give us more” My first reaction was that I’m sorry I sent money I didn’t have in response the the SC ruling.
please do not be too harsh on WHY they did not say anything about the donations following sc decision. Remember the other side was already bragging how much it had raised and maybe our total was much lower.
it is also possible that just when people are expecting mitt the bullying liar to outraise us greatly, then we may be actually doing a better job and we are saving this news for later
huh? I don’t understand what you mean by acknowledging the response of donors. The campaign ripped into Romney for bragging about the amount of money he raised on the SC decision and Pres.Obama said that he wasn’t going to spike the ball or gloat. So maybe they were trying not to be hypocrites and do what the Romney camp did.
“They asked for donations for the SC decision on health care, and then never acknowledged the response of donors.” Debz, I don’t know about you, but I got an e-mail thanking me for my donation. That’s is all the acknowledgement I needed. I also appreciated the fact that they are all (OFA, DNC, DSCC, and DCCC) concerned about the money being raised by corporations, billionaires and multi- millionaires to defeat Democrats. I don’t know why you are so angry that they didn’t tell you how many people donated when I am sure they will release that information soon.
how can those uninsured teabaggers feel that the lying turtle (who is a multi millionaire in his own right with most of it gained from gaming the political system) represents their interests?
Good for Chris pushing the 30 million uninsured. McDonnell was stuck each time before he started in on his pitiful talking points. The Republicans have got NOTHING!!!! I hope other journalists will push as hard, and Chris is on Fox.
What program was Keith O on?
I’ll say one thing for McConnell. He’s usually more of a pro on these shows. That was the first time I saw him flustered. I knew he was toast when he started talking about western Europe. That’s his old talking point from three years ago.
No kidding…..but I give credit to Chris Wallace on that one….he wanted more than talking points
Amazing that the guy on FOX News does a better job of grilling Republicans than people like David Gregory.
I wonder if Gregory has any idea how bad he is. It seems his bosses would at least tell him.
I think it’s quite clear what Sen. McConnell said. NO, Republicans are NOT going to make sure all Americans will be able to have health insurance. And YES Republicans are primarily concerned that “existing providers” will still be able to pursue profit over care. And YES Republicans will continue to lie, distort and misrepresent the ACA, the role of government and the intent of the President. Good job, Senator. The American people will take note.
I hope the DNC uses that as an ad.
I’m going to tweet this, it’s good!
hgerhard, well said. I hope you pass your statement on to OFA. I will try an tweet it if I can post it as a pic or a link with your handle if you don’t mind. Great recap of what turtle said.
Just got back from the store. Please feel free to use any of my comments in any way. I am still learning Twitter, so any help is appreciated.
You totally nailed his response, hgerhard.
SMALL BUSINESSES NEED TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON HEALTHCARE
June 29, 2012 | Jason Keith, Globe Staff
What’s ironic is that the administration set up an entire website dedicated to explaining what’s in the healthcare bill and what it means not only for small businesses but individuals as well. There’s a Facebook page (with just over 12K fans) and a Twitter following with over 50,000 followers. Case study videos from real people talking about how they have taken advantage of the credit are up on the site. A link to the IRS website even outlines how to specifically take advantage of the credit come tax time, and how to claim it on your tax return. You can say a lot of things about the current administration, but holding back on information when it comes to the ACA is not one of them.
My friend Gene Marks recently wrote a column for the Huffington Post that somewhat chastised small businesses for leaning on “uncertainty” as a crutch for not succeeding, arguing that there is never a time in history (or will be in the future) when anything will be certain. Similarly, this post is to call on all small businesses to get educated about the ACA, which is now “100% law” and will fully go into effect as planned. Businesses that don’t take advantage of the benefits, and know what the pitfalls are for not complying, will end up costing themselves money in the long run.
This is exactly right. This is why I get upset about messaging complaints. How much simpler does the administration have to make this? Other than personally going to every house and business in America. The websites and resources are out there. Business owners have no excuse. This affects their bottom line so they should be on top of this.
That was a good article. Obviously the main reason small business owners, as well as the vast majority of Americans, don’t know about what’s in the health care bill is, in my opinion, the fault of the media. The media are no longer a source of information. Rather they see their role as that of being an attack dog on the President, sensationalizing minor issues, and being preoccupied with who is up and who is down in the polls. The U.S. media has failed the American people.
Ole Grandma-Gummy McConnell…well, he told us what his single priority and goal is a long time ago AND FUCK THE PEOPLE AND THE COUNTRY. Such a worthless creep.
Really good, realistic article in the NYT today about the political realities of working with corporations to get legislation passed: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/01/opinion/sunday/how-liberals-win.html?_r=2
This is a terrific article. I hope that every “progressive” will read it.
Posted late last night. Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadian TOD PBO lovers.
Happy Canada Day, barb and our other Canadian PBO supporters!!!!!
Happy Canada Day to you (from this former Canadian)
How will you provide healthcare for 30 million more people? The Turtle: “We won’t. The “have’s” get healthcare and the “Have-not’s” won’t. So there, Mr. Nosy.”
Ah, the ultimate death panel: Mitch McConnell. A turtle to decide your fate.
Priceless. (Still laughin’ about that “Mr. Nosy” !)
THIS is a money quote to be repeated constantly:
Mandate is a penalty on free riders, put simply…they ought to pay a penalty, it's the right thing to do @ChuckSchumer. 1% will be affected— Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) July 01, 2012
Pelosi and Schumer did really well, let’s keep it up.
The 1 % being affected by ACA’s penalty is crucial information to be disseminated .
Correction Speaker Pelosi and Senator Schumer did exceptionally well today. The other Dem reps should follow suit.
Gov O’Malley also good as usual.

Right on worrier Bob! Excellent rapid response as usual.
U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts’ swing vote to uphold ‘Obamacare’ under Congress’s taxing powers has drawn praise from his usual critics. One top Democratic senator lauded Roberts’ “judicial independence” in saving President Obama’s signature law, but also argued that the Bush-appointed jurist broke his promise by narrowing the scope of the Commerce Clause.
In his opinion, Roberts explained in detail why he believes his view is not inconsistent with precedent, siding with conservative architects of the legal challenge in the argument that Congress may not regulate inaction.
“In my view it certainly merited upholding under the Commerce Clause,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), his party’s leader on messaging. “I do worry, in the future, about the courts limiting the Commerce Clause as a way of limiting the ability of the federal government to help average families.”
MITCH (BLAH BLAH BLAH) MCCONNELL SOUNDS JUST LIKE CHARLIE BROWN’S TEACHER
It’s really interesting that most Republicans on the tv are all starting to sound just like Sarah Palin. Totally incoherent. All we get are word salads. Soundbites repeated ad nauseum and not in any particular order. They got nothin and they know it. That’s why they have to resort to filibustering instead of answering the question. Lying because they have no plan to replace healthcare. I hope this video goes viral. The non answer from Mitch McConnell speaks volumes.
Charlie Brown Teacher Speaking
Not surprised the weasel couldn’t answer a basic question. The truth is that the GOP does not care about the 30 million uninsured in this country so he can’t answer the question since they have no plan to get them coverage. The man just admitted that those 30 million people aren’t “the issue.” Well, they ARE the issue – they go to the heart of it. The GOP proves day in and day out that they have one care and one care only: defeating President Obama. I’m going to do all I can to help make sure that doesn’t happen because to me, those 30 million people deserve better than a President Romney.
I heard something once that takes down the GOP argument of going to different states for options. It had something to do with a comparison of how the banking/credit rules work and how the corporations go to the least restrictive state. It eluded that the insurance companies would play the system and their would not be that much choice without the rules and regulations for the insurance companies that were put into place with the Obamacare system. I know my memory is faulty on this and would like to hear the opinion again.
Stop the presses: The Political section of HP is reporting that Bristol was “shot down” by Levi Johnson. What a serious country we have.
Number of uninsured: 640,000 state residents are uninsured, or about 15%.
Where the state stands: Kentucky has laid the groundwork for a statewide health insurance exchange, but Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear opted to wait for the Supreme Court ruling before moving doing anything more.
Even though he is on the wrong side, Mike Wallace did teach his son how to interview people or Chris at least has the same intense style. During the Republican primary, Chris Wallace always got these clowns to go off their talking points and admit they have no goal other than to line their pockets or make Obama fail or both.
Chris should get some thanks for his efforts today….
I agree – lets do a Sunday Call to Compliment
look at the gem Meta found:
#GOP Paradise. http://t.co/anxidwM6— meta (@metaquest) July 01, 2012
This is simply delicious! Well dome Meta. Although it’s not accurate to concede to the false claims by right wingers that “Obamacare” is socialized medicine. Thanks for sharing this Alice.
wow! nailed it! i can hear the spluttering indignation like a wave across america!
According to some on twitter, the Huffington Post is now claiming POTUS is having a hard time winning over Latino voters. I swear, it never ends with these haters. I’m just glad more and more people are waking up and recognizing these lies. I’m sure next week Arianna will be telling us that African Americans are disappointed with the President.
That site has dueling articles on a daily basis…….and has become a hate site for the uneducated.
oh…earlier today their Main Story head line was ” Obama Begs Donors : Send More Money “
Arianna Huffington is no different that Politico, Fox, TeaNN, all the anti-Obama media.
I don’t go to Huff Puff anymore.
I get so sick of that garbage.
All hail citizens. I have returned from my self imposed exile in the WI woods. As I traveled some of the county roads there were not too many signs, in front yards, that made this old salt feel warm and fuzzy. There were plenty of guns though.
I see by past threads you’ve been a busy lot….Nekkid ppl and all. I could feel the heat from “private summers” coming through the screen.
In celebration of my return, I thought ya’ll might be able to relate to the following:
WHAT CAN I SAY
Hilarious, I can see myself making this call!
Several days ago as I left a meeting at a hotel; I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down.
I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing.
Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot.
My wife has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition.
My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them.
Her theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the door, I came to a terrifying conclusion.
Her theory was right. The parking lot was empty.
I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen.
Then I made the most difficult call of all, “Honey,” I stammered; I always call her “honey” in times like these.
“I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen.”
There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard her voice.
“Idiot”, she barked, “I dropped you off!”
Now it was my time to be silent.
Embarrassed, I said, “Well, come and get me.”
She retorted, “I will, as soon as I convince this policeman I have not stolen your car”. Yep, it is the golden years……
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaardarm! I missed ya! Have to run, but will catch up later – hope all’s well.
Finer than frog hair!
Glad to see you back your post, yardarm!! Rest easy. While you were gone, our health care was upheld by the Supreme Freakin’ Court!!!!
So I heard. But it’s so sad to see the rwnj ass wipes that are so willing to dump on poor ppl.
bah ha haha! Welcome back Yardarm!
Glad to be back a4.
Missed you Yard!
Thanks Dakota. I came back in time for super-dumb do-do!
WE MISSED YOU!!! Came back with a bang:) All is well, I hope.
Thanks df. I tried to keep up with you guys but wifi up North sucks and Fox, CNN, plus a ton of hunting/fishing shows is all you get on tv.
hahahahahaha……..tells us the truth Y, this is a true story isn’t? Welcome back anyways.
Naw jojo. I slip into a fog bank now ‘n then but not to that extent.
Holy Cow! Is this for real?! LOL!!!!!!!!
New post everyone, back later
babe – check your email – sent you a baby rant yesterday on Obamacare.
WAIT – I’m tweeking it again. stand by.
WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!!
No libraries for you, little people of Louisiana! Bobby Jindal just signed a $25 billion dollar budget that cut all state funding for libraries, which wasn’t exactly a huge porkfest to begin with ($900,000). He says it’s just not a huge priority for the state, citing health care and education funding as first priorities.
Of course, let’s not forget that education funding means sending lots of state money to church and corporate-run charter schools in Louisiana. What a guy.
Jindal claimed that libraries can be funded with local money and donations, with federal funds making up the difference in their budgets. Not so fast, Bobby.
Wake up INDEED.
oh desert! I knew saw this from somewhere! I posted my response tweet to Jindahl on the next thread.
mitch mcconnell prefers his formal title, e.g. Grand Imperial Wizard of the KKK.
