Thank you Chips.
You did! Congrats.
President Barack Obama greets children at the Kozy Corners diner in Oak Harbor Ohio July 5
He’s so cute and practical with his corn on the cobb purchase..thanks Chips!
Hi. Moving in and out but still here.
MY President is the cause of these terrific turnouts. He is the MAN!
Love the song. The Who, Don’t Get Fooled again.
Is Chuck Todd counting the seats? A real journalists instead of counting empty seats, would be finding out why Mitt Romney refuse to release his tax returns?
That’s the problem anniebella….these bozos are not journalists, they’re GOP tools….the only true journalist that I can think of is Martin Bashir….I admire him not because he supports the President, I admire him because he tells the truth, he reports facts….not fiction.
Someone needs to tweet Chuckle Head how many people doe Robme draw? Why don’t they ever mention that? The other day it looked like Robme had a big crowd but no mention about how many and the press was there unless they are forbidden to say or even guess.
18,000 ? OMG…..
18,000 for the Sandusky speech? It looks quite a small venue from the streaming??
Chips, how about ‘growing’ the rewards and acknowledging the first THREE TODobots WHO CLOCK IN AT THE SAME TIME? (Self-serving much? Well, (modestly) you wouldn’t have to start the new growth right now, you could start it tomorrow, or next week.
Looks like a very rare cloudless day in Ohio. That hardly EVER happens:)
So the secret service guys got to shed their coats and ties today too…kewl!!!!!
I saw someone with a black suit on…WTH! He’ll be dropping soon if he’s not careful
“You AIn’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” !!!

You’re welcome Bob!
Love this young man sharing his speech from the heart. I confess I have a weakness for speakers who actually ‘speak’ to me as opposed to ‘read’to me.
Weather channel website reports current temperatures in Sandusky at 83 and Toledo at 88. Cooler than where I am. Was over 100 yesterday and at 95 right now. So may be bearable there.
It is not too bad here in Phoenix right now. It is 92 with 32% humidity. We have a wonderful rain yesterday.
I’m in Wisconsin. Second week of above 90 weather. Tomorrow is expected to be above 100 again.
It didn’t seen too hot to me. Now I know why! I’ll take this anyday:) The rain yesterday was heavenly. I loved it…I don’t remember the last time it rained here…
I would be happy with 83. Heck, I’d be happy even with 88. It’s over 100 here again today; supposed to be over 100 tomorrow, too.
here as well. are you in omaha?
Northern Illinois, a little town called Lake Villa. It’s about 10/15 minutes south of Wisconsin.
allow me to put in a plug for hawaii! i think folks generally assume it’s hot here, tropical weather–but temps in my area have been in the high 70s low 80s, with light showers at night, and gentle breezes in the day. just sayin’–come visit in the winter, yes, but also, come visit in the summer! aloha
we’re not known for good pie, however.
What’s Hawaii got to do with America?
here’s our july 4th with us senator:
yes, we’re a little unique!
I’ll never understand you furriners.
I feel bad for most of the people who have to endure such high temperatures. Right now here in San Diego we have the most ideal weather, with temperatures in the mid 70s in land and low 70s to high 60s in the coastal areas.
For all you ladies out there, everyone’s favorite sexist pig – Rush Limbaugh – is at it again…
Rush Limbaugh — the famously sexist radio host who got himself into hot water over his criticism of Sandra Fluke — believes that women’s suffrage destroyed the U.S. “When women got the right to vote is when it all went down hill,” Limbaugh said on his radio show Tuesday, “Because that’s when votes started being cast with emotion and maternal instincts that government ought to reflect.” The host tried almost immediately to recover from his blatant sexism, claiming that he had been joking.
I gotta admit, I’m not one for censoring anyone’s speech that is within ‘free speech’ parameters. However, we do get to choose that speech of which we will read, watch, or listen. Some get bent out of shape by a link posted to the orange site, this is way beyond that imo. I think what Slush Limpballs says goes in the pile of ‘who cares’ and to never further his cause to advertisers by clicking on anything he represents. However, that could just be me and my little ol’ 2 cents.
Oh, okay. Sorry, won’t happen again, I assure you.
Hi Paws, don’t worry, CM wasn’t censoring YOU, per se. She was, as she admits, sharing her opinion on and her reaction to that weird media guy. I don’t pay attention to him either, but I would say that in some weird, convoluted way he has uttered some ‘truth’ this time. Indeed when votes ‘started to be cast with emotion and maternal instincts’ some humanity was put into governing. At least I’m sure that is so even without doing any research.
As a relief from Limbaugh, cognachas, and everyone, take a look at this — a flash mob playing and singing “Ode to Joy,” the orchestra and chorus trickling in. A great finale. The children watching and participating in conducting were adorable! Be sure not to miss it at http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/05/12583741-beethoven-ftw?threadId=3512388&commentId=67705170#c67705170
I had said some time ago it’s clear Limbaugh has some issues with women, maybe his Mother didn’t show him the love that good Mothers do. Married four times, thank God no children, but Limbaugh has some mental issues.
Testing. Love this site! PS. Did I create an account correctly?
Hi Gobama, are you on Twitter or Facebook, could you provide a link to either? Sorry, I have to keep out potential trolls! Thanks.

I was reading off CBS but I guess that was for something else….it was just listed below the video
There wouldn’t be 18,000 in that area—-it’s a small community. It’s more like Kozy Corner. We were nearby there last summer for a fam vacay get together—-at Sawmill Creek Resort——don’t recommend it—–chosen only because it was halfway for east coast peeps and midwest peeps to meet up. In fact, I think we ate at Kozy Corner one night—–looks familiar—–we ate at some down home place one night—–and I remember pie was big there. Can’t remember if I had any. Must not have been that enticing.

Donna, carrying over our convo from the last thread…..Inauguration Day is Sunday, January 20th. The next day is MLK birthday. So is it safe to assume the WH wouldn’t be open for tours until January 22nd?
I visited DC years and years ago and saw a lot of the monuments but I’ve never been real close to the WH and would dearly love to have a tour if I travel to DC while our POTUS and FLOTUS are residents!!
Meta, are you hoping/planning to be at Inauguration? Say ‘Yesss’! I would love to meet you (and as many TODobots as possible), and I also was wondering whether the WH would be open during that time. Would it be, DD4O?
VC, it’d be a thrill to meet you!
I’ve been thinking about going to DC at some point for a WH tour while the Obamas are still in residence and since some folks are talking about going to the Inauguration, I’m thinking about it, too. Last year Nancy Smash gave me a ticket but it was too late to book a flight or find a place to stay. But I think it would be great to have some sort of TODer meet-up!
In April, Theo gave us this heads-up. I’m not sure what the situation is like now, but I sure hope more of TOD has been making plans.
Theo to LDS: A few of us are staying at the Donovan Hotel – still close enough to the action. But, if you call the number on dcluxuryhotels.com, they will work with your price range and preferences and give you some options. They had more expensive options and there are others that I’m sure are maybe less expensive, but not be walking distance to all the action. I’ve worked with this team many times on visits to DC, and they’ve never let me down. Also, you can book with your credit care (no charge), and cancel up to the day before. Good luck – let me know if you decide to book, and we can make arrangements to meet up closer to the time during the festivities.
LDS: Theo67, if you are still up I did crawl out of bed to book hotel reservations for the Inauguration. I was there 2008 and I will not miss 2013! There were no rooms available at the Donovan, but I am close by at the Normandy. ….
We should start planning some activities while we are there so we can meet as many TODers as possible. I would love to do a WH tour too, but only if POTUS and FLOTUS are the residents. They probably wouldn’t have a schedule for January yet in light of the impending election, but perhaps MLK Day would have some kind of celebration there we could go to.
Jackie, I would so love to meet you! And I had the same thought about the new MLK monument when I was looking up the dates. That would be an amazing thing to do.
I’m going to check in with Nancy Smash or Barbara Boxer about getting a ticket for the tour and then see how things unfold from there.

Pool report from Kozy Corner
The motorcade pulled into Kozy Corners, a cash-only local diner with square tables(daily specials starting at $4.65). In the parking lot outside, Obama knelt to speak to a young boy with spiky blue-tipped hair.
“I like that hair, man. I was thinking of getting some hair just like it,” Obama said, touching the boy’s head. “What do you put in there to make it spiky? Product?”
The boy looked spell-bound until, prompted by his parents, shook the president’s hand.
Later, the president walked into the restaurant, shaking hands and taking pictures. As he entered the dining room, accompanied by former Gov. Ted Strickland, he waved and was applauded by a crowd of between 50 and 75 (capacity of the dining room is 85 but not every seat was taken).
Obama greeted several elderly customers first, asking them how long they’ve been married and what their secrets were for looking so young.
A waitress carrying a shrimp basket approached the president. “Are those for me?” he asked with a grin.
Nearby, a fourth-grade girl, Sydney, showed Obama her sketchbook. “You’re very talented,” he said, flipping through the pages of drawings. “You’re a very well spoken young lady.” He inscribed it “Dream big dreams.”
At the next table, he cradled a baby, telling the parents it reminded him of the baby of his brother-in-law.
“Just do whatever she tells you to,” he said to a man and his wife at the neighboring table, when they swapped stories about how to maintain a good marriage.
At the next table, Obama stopped to talk to five white-haired women, who told they were part of a regular pinochle game for several decades.
“Tell the truth, the national press is here,” the president said. “Are you playing for money?”
The ladies laughed and demurred, before confessing they might play for “a dollar or a quarter.
“I’m not going to take you on, especially now that I know you play for money,” he said with a laugh.
Next up was a man in a Tarheel hat and T-shirt. Obama asked him why he wearing that “get-up” in Buckeye country.
Finally, the president stopped to talk to Kim Weis, an emergency-room nurse at Magruder Hospital who told him she was a grandmother. Obama told she looked too young to be a grandmother.
“Let me tell you, first of all. I love nurses,” Obama said. “Can I tell you. You look great. This is a good looking woman.”
At that point, a little boy asked him to sign a dollar bill, and he explained that it’s illegal to sign U.S. government tender.
The boy then told him he went to Disney World on vacation and Obama asked which was his favorite ride. Answer: Goofy’s rollercoaster.
A waitress then brought the president a tray with cheeseburger, fries, and a tall iced tea. He sat down at the table in the center of the room with Gov. Strickland.
“All right, I’m going to eat my burger,” he said to the other diners, “and everybody just pretend like I’m not here.”
A few cheers of “Four more years!” broke out.
The reception he got was warm and friendly, though Traci Riechman, who works for the Ottawa County Juvenile Court, said she was not sure whether Obama would win the vote in the town.
“We have a lot of houses for sale,” she said. “It’s just a tough time here in Oak Harbor. I don’t know if the community will be positive or negative.”
President Obama was not the only visitor who drew gapes. Two girls were talking to each as Press Secretary Jay Carney entered a side door.
After a reporter confirmed Carney’s identity, one girl, Julia Konieczny, 19, a grand-daughter of the restaurant’s owners, told her friend, “Told you it was Jay Carney because he has adorable glasses.”
Ooohhh I just love this! And the bit about Jay….I love me some Jay
Sounds like the rural version of TODville. LOLz.
Ohhhh others have noticed and fallen for our Clark Kent.
19 year old girls checking out Jay Carney. HA!
Here comes the Bus Beast!!
Just look at that BUS!!!!
Just a bit about Sandusky It has one of my favorite Amusement Parks in the world…Ceder Pointe. I grew up going to that park. My maternal grandmother lived in Buycyrus Ohio…small town USA. One post office, one traffic light, one diner, 3 churches and a family that had to travel outside the town limits to go to a Synagog. I think the HS had a graduating class of 100.
We were there last summer when we were vacationing nearby——took all our kids/grandkids. Really crowded—-remember had to park miles away. My best roller coaster days are behind me but kids had fun!
We took the family crew there last year, a trip that we’d been trying to make for many a year. It was fantastic!!! I am trying to make it an annual outing. It was very laid back and pleasant amidst the thrill of some of the best rides of any park I’d been to. Wonderful place, wonderful people. it’s hard for me to imagine that any are ‘pubs, or that they voted for the governor they have.
Love this man!!
Does Kristen WELKER play for the N.E. Patriots? Because, She is a lousy reporter. After She gives a report, She takes a Shot at the President. Smarmy!
There he is!
Who is the football player that introduced the President today?
Orlando Pace. He played for Ohio State; big dude.
Thanks Melanie. Yes, he is a big dude. Wow.
This crowd is not as involved as the last crowd. Or is it that they are more ‘polite’ and so are hesitant to cheer wholeheartedly?
Robney is on Defense-
”Rebutting the Obama campaign’s new efforts to highlight Mitt Romney’s foreign assets, the Romney campaign condemned such attacks as “false and ridiculous” and a distraction from the economy. ”
It’s easy for them to say that………if nothing in that report is true….prove it! Show your tax returns.
Of course he’ll never do that.
What surprises (yeah, right) me is that they see no connection between Mitt’s handling of his tax returns/foreign assets and the economy.
if the reporting is false, and the claims are ridiculous, then why not produce the tax returns? if there’s nothing to hide, then why hide?
All Mitt Romney has to do is do like his Dad did, show 12 years of his tax returns. If Romney has nothing to hide, then why haven’t he shown his tax returns?
Oh no—-it’s 102 or 103 here and the power is going in and out. Probably overloaded. Fingers crossed.
This country needs to spend money on our infrastructure, especially if the GOP is going to ignore global warming.
My worst fear.
We just had a small storm come through Chicago — I swear it was a mile wide but happened to come right over my house. Maybe it will help what looks like tinder all over my neighborhood. I can’t believe people who don’t wet things down to alleviate the danger of fire. Especially after the jackasses with firecrackers yesterday. My poor little Pearl (adopted her last November. A 7 year old Yorkie who was a puppy mill breeder and sent to a kill shelter when they were done with her) hated the firecrackers but REALLY hates thunder. Poor baby………
we just got a brief heavy windy unforecasted rain blow through. It cooled things down quite a bit for a short while. Here comes the humidity. Now it’s not only hot, but dripping standing still. “I’m melting!” – wicked witch of the west.
That’s happening to us as well. It went from 103 to 86 to 76 and now it’s back to 86.
CBS just cut the feed…go to CSPAN
That town and diner are gonna be out of whack for the next coupla weeks for sure.
MSNBC is showing it live on tv.
PARMA, Ohio — Labor-affiliated protesters interrupted a speech by one of Mitt Romney’s potential vice presidential picks, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, at a campaign event in this battleground state on Thursday.
Pawlenty and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, another vice presidential possibility, were appearing in Parma, Ohio, a Cleveland suburb, just down the street from where President Barack Obama will rally supporters Thursday night.
As Pawlenty took the microphone to speak, about seven or eight protesters, who had been holding pro-Romney signs and wearing stickers for Republican presidential candidates, erupted in unison with a chant of “Pawlenty, go home.”
They chanted for several minutes while Pawlenty spoke, drawing an angry reaction from Romney supporters around them. Several men yelled face to face with the protesters, others put their signs in front of the chanters to block them, and one elderly man doused protester Al Neal with the contents of his water bottle and then tried to shove the empty plastic bottle into Neal’s mouth. Another man shoved a protester before he was restrained by other Romney supporters.
Neal, 25, said he was with Fight for a Fair Economy Ohio, which identifies itself on its website as “a collaboration” between the Service Employees International Union and local groups.
The tactic of using shouting protesters to try to drown out a speaker at a public event is becoming more common in this bitterly contested presidential campaign. In May, the actions of Romney supporters overshadowed a press conference in Boston by top Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod when they made such a din that at times he could not be heard.
To add to that: At one point, one of the protesters, Al Neal of Canton, 25, who said he was a union worker and a member of Fight for Fair Economy Ohio, was confronted by Richard Brysac, 77, of Parma.
Brysac attempted to quiet the protestor by emptying a bottle of water in Neal’s mouth.
“He seemed thirsty, so I tried to shove the bottle in his mouth,” Brysac said. “I thought it
was wrong to interfere with [Pawlenty's] freedom of speech.
“I acted out of character and I apologize if I offended anyone.”
When the bottle didn’t work, Brysac pulled out his handkerchief and gagged Neal.
Neal removed the handkerchief and continued chanting with the other protestors until the group was escorted from the rally.
Seems free speech is only for THEM, not us. I’d have him arrested for assault
“I’d have him arrested for assault”
Complete and utter scumbags.
Truly! WTH is wrong with these people??! I would have done that in a heartbeat. Maybe he would think about that if he ever thought he should shut someone else up for their free speech! That stuff makes me nuts
Yeah! Keep your hands off hands off my body …ol brainwashed coot.
Oh ok, so it’s fine for the tax cheat campaign to send hecklers to David Axelrod press conference…shouting, blowing bubbles, anything to disrupt the event…….
He needs to press charges…..this is assault
Actually, I don’t think it is fine for any side to heckle the other at a planned event. That’s only a prelude to more people ‘acting out of character’, possibly leading to a more physical confrontation down the road. There are too many hotheads out there waiting to be stirred up, especially when their idols have nothing to offer. IMO politicians should be able to voice their plans/solutions and have them judged on the merits of the speaker AND the ideas themselves. People screeching and shouting only draw attention away from the content, or lack thereof, of the speech.
These idiots are just so clueless. How was he ever in Congress?
Yeah, df. TRUST me, as a Pennsylvanian, I am embarrassed.
Santorum should never smile like that, he hasn’t the teeth for it.
Yo @MittRomney you & your wife are being held accountable, something neither of you have ever experienced. Get used to it, we've just begun.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) July 05, 2012
AMEN! Love that, Bob…I imagine that you’re exactly right. Special favors and looking the other way his entire life. Change we can believe in!!
They turned off the Crowd Microphone, makes it seem Flat! Nice trick!
Ah! So that’s it! I commented somewhere earlier that the audience didn’t seem as fired up – poor ignorant me, not even contemplating this possibility. The things I learn in TODville!
That was one fired up speech! He didn’t use a teleprompter and yet he still kicked ass! He spoke from the heart and they loved him!
Yeah I liked this speech a lil better than the one earlier; just felt like he flowed better. He seemed to be using notes earlier as i saw him look down a few times.
“Mitt Romney is still more wealthy than his presidential campaign.
Last month, he raised an eye-popping $100 million, a figure made possible by the joint committee established with the RNC that allows him to take donations of $75,000 per individual.”
So there is no longer any campaign finance law at all?
But Dem’s like Buffett and Soros aren’t donating to PAC’s on ‘principle’. You jackasses.
Remember Meg Whitman.
Do the RNC and DNC establish their own separate rules? I thought OFA max was 37,500/individual.
Just donated to PBO and the DNC.
PBO said how important it is to donate now rather than later. Now is when we set the narrative. I really can’t afford it until I get paid next week but it’s just too important. The dogs have food and I always have a full freezer (I’m child of Depression parents). PBO’s reelection and retaking the House and keeping the Senate are more important.
I’d rather they stay true to their principles, if they are really sincere about that. I don’t think a person should jeopardize their principles when it’s convenient. If they were to give in amounts similar to the Kochs, would we accuse them of trying to buy the presidency, look the other way, or somehow rationalize why it’s ok if we do it, but not them. As much as I’d like them to give mightily, maybe the best course is to find big money folks that aren’t quite as principled.
I really disagree with Buffet and Soros here. We are trying to win this election here and they need to toss that priniciple B.S. to the curve.

This was one bloody awesome speech! I LOVED it!
I love when he speaks like he did at this stop. I think he found that reading his speechfrom the transcript was to confining. He is the greatest.
Agree COS, and I think he’s hitting his rhythm now, he knows the messages he wants to highlight and we’ll likely see him being very relaxed and powerful delivering it. The next few months are going to be a delight to behold and we should cherish every moment of it. We are going to save our Republic and perfect it with President Obama at the helm.
Which, of course, begs the question.
Myth R-Money, Why are you running for President (this time?) HHHHmmmm????
exactly–why is he running for president? it doesn’t really look like he wants the job; it would take a lot of his time, and it doesn’t pay well. just the prestige, i think.
Because “it’s his turn”. Miss Ann said so.
it was his turn to be vp pick under McIStillCantBelieveILostToThatOne, who ran from him as if he had a communicable disease. Really, Payem over Pittiful? He knows something we don’t know.
(CBS) – Nearly one in five Philadelphia voters do not have the most common form of identification that will be required for casting ballots in November, according to data released by state election officials.
Philadelphia has the highest percentage of registered voters without licenses or PennDot-issued I.D. cards, at 18 percent, but Montgomery and Delaware Counties, along with Pittsburgh and several western Pennsylvania counties, also have 10 to 12 percent of voters without a PennDot I.D.’s.
I have a real concern about this….
when we makes calls or talk to folks on the street about voter registration…people say they have ID…or that they voted for years….
while waiting for a bus on Saturday outside my local post office…i spoke to a middle aged woman about registering to vote…she said that she was registered and that she had been voting for years/i told her about the new Voter ID laws and asked her if she has the new ID required/she no longer drives so she does not have a driver’s license/she does not have a government issued ID/and she says that she still uses her married name but she does not have her marriage certificate that she needs to get a non driver’s ID in a current name/when i gently urged her to get the doucments needed to vote she just as gently changed the subject…
this is what sometimes happens when you talk to folks about getting ID…
folks become frustrated…irritated…and then they become resigned not to vote….they give up….and then for some folks it is not that important/like the woman told me…she had other things to be concerned about…
maybe it is a rigamaroo to get the documents that are needed to get the State ID…birth certificate/marriage or divorce certificate/etc…and then there is the cost/of getting docuements…
this is going to be a hard hurdle to get over….
not to end on a depressive note/
a suit has been filed in PA courts/
but in the meantime what else can we do to help these thousands who may not be able to vote without this ID…
Please tell them to vote absentee. If you have voted before in PA and Do Not have an ID, you should apply for an absentee ballot. You only have to have the last four digits of your SS# on the application to vote. I confirmed this with out Voter Registration Bureau and it is how the Republicans are planning to bypass the ID requirement. Only new voters will have a more difficult time with absentee because they have to have a DMV approved nonvoter ID or a passport of student ID or elder care facility ID with expiration date.
thank you so much for this info…..
should i contact my local voter registration bureau to get literature on this…
in addition…i think there needs to be a street rally around the new voter ID law….
it needs to shouted out to the heavens…how the Repubs are trying to steal our vote…

After seeing the Miss Ann clip on Bashir, I can confirm that I don’t like Miss Ann one tiny bit. I don’t like that nasty type of personality. There’s a word for that which shall go unwritten here, but I’m thinking it.
A? B? C? D? Just guessing:) All the above?
I have not seen the clip yet about Miss Ann, but IMO, from what I am reading, this makes her look thin skined, spoiled and whiny, and looking for sympathy. Like I said before, I don’t think anyone will be apologizing to her this time.
You got it.
I didn’t see the clip, what did Queen Ann say this time?
The discontent behind the misguided panic
By Steve Benen

As recently as a few weeks ago, the conventional wisdom was that President Obama was having an awful June, and that his campaign was in deep trouble. The evidence to bolster the thesis was thin, but the political establishment was convinced that Obama’s summer was off to such a horrendous start, he might not be able to recover.
These perceptions, naturally, led to quite a bit of handwringing in Democratic circles. Much of this was pointless, and Obama’s poll numbers don’t look much different than they did in the Spring.
Now, apparently, it’s the Republicans’ turn to panic.
Over the weekend, it was Rupert Murdoch leading the way, questioning Mitt Romney’s staff and overall campaign strategy. Today, it’s the Wall Street Journal editorial page — arguably the nation’s most pro-Republican venue in American print media — sounding the alarm.
Is anyone else stalking the President on the UStream link. He and Jay are looking mighty good.
LOL I was. Nice seeing him in a relaxed mode talking to Orlando and his family.
A quick note…..the republican hack Lloyd Grove from Daily Beast who wrote that disgusting article on the President last week…about him begging for money, sounding desperate…….and of course that corporate media was just too happy to run with this BS story…
Well he’s the one who wrote this article in May
”Obama’s Mean Streak”
by Lloyd Grove May 26, 2012 04:45 AM EDT
”When he feels cornered, the president knows how to fight dirty, writes Lloyd Grove.”
I remember reading that piece of garbage in May because it was all over……
Mean streak? Now I know everyone has — deep down — at least a little bit of meanness. But if PBO has a “mean streak” it’s awful teeny tiny. So small I don’t think anyone has ever seen it. This is standard Rethuglican rhetoric — loudly accuse others of what you do yourself.
I am sick of Michael Steele.
He adds nothing to the conversation. MSNBC is receiving little for their money.
I wondered if these people who dropped in were paid. So they are, eh? Sad waste of money.
WASHINGTON — Over the next six months, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a newly formed regulator vilified by the right, intends to overhaul the home mortgage market as a first step toward improving its fairness and clarity.
The goal is to remake the process of getting a mortgage, making it easier for borrowers to understand the kind of loan they are getting and its cost.
Such an achievement by the bureau — a lightning rod for criticism of the Dodd-Frank regulatory law passed by Congress in 2010 — would help to establish its legitimacy and quiet its critics as it approaches its first birthday this month.
Richard Cordray, a former Ohio attorney general who is the director of the bureau, said he wanted to show that the bureau could help consumers without drowning banks in red tape.
“We have an overarching goal here,” Mr. Cordray said in an interview in his office near the White House, “which is to restore trust in the consumer financial marketplace. I don’t think we are just a regulatory body or just an enforcement body.”
A group of Catholic nuns ended its nine-state bus tour here Monday (July 2), speaking out against a Republican federal budget proposal they say favors wealthy Americans at the expense of poor families.
Led by Sister Simone Campbell, the “Nuns on the Bus” rejected the budget proposal of Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., which it called “immoral” and “unpatriotic.”
Ryan’s budget “rejects church teaching about solidarity, inequality, the choice for the poor, and the common good. That’s wrong,” said Campbell, executive director of Network, a Catholic social justice lobby.
I heard Sister Campbell speak about this on the Bill Press show this morning….she was magnificent…i looked for the video but it was not available….
i caught the last so minutes of the President’s speech….he is so awesome…that the word “awesome” does not seem adequate to decribe him….
got the video of the sister admonishing ryan:
Susanne I actually took you at your word and pushed play.
hope you enjoyed it!
He is so funny….Who is that Corn for ?
RT @abc: Axelrod to ABC: Romney "Most Secretive Candidate" Since Nixon abcn.ws/Nq6vnZ— This Week (@ThisWeekABC) July 05, 2012
nixon: ‘i am not a crook’
rmoney: ‘false and ridiculous’
of course, we only found out about nixon’s illegal activity because of a vigorous and courageous press….
And we know how Nixon’s run at President ended. We won’t let R-money anywhere near the WH to embarass this country again like Nixon did.
I noticed a yahoo hedline calingl Robney a “cash cow” because he raked in 100 million in June. I wonder how many donors gave him that 100 million?
love to see a cartoon of that ‘cash cow’!
Wow, disregard my mispelled words. Sometimes I place my cursor in the wrong place on WP and I can’t see the mistakes until I post.

Great fotos. I wish he was on the road every day. He is the most personable, the most accessible head of state I have ever seen. Great second speech today.
I came in to my firm’s kitchen a while ago and either Fox or CNN was on. Someone was talking about how the President’s campaign spent $9M on a TV ad buy for June and Romney only spent $3M. I left before I heard any more, but I was thinking how misleading that statement is given the fact that there are so many SuperPACS spendings tens of millions of dollars on ads against the President.
Not a fan of Nate Silver but he is a good statistician, lousy political analyst. Here’s his take on top ten swing states, Obama favored in all: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/05/1106539/-538-Ten-Most-Likely-Toss-Up-States-all-favor-Obama
Susan Page does not think PBO likes retail politics.
Then it must be true, because she is always right and most importantly objective. I wish their were more just like Her. Not!
I don’t think she like PBO…..She just did a fluff piece about Miss Ann.
Every MSM pundit says Ann is Willard’s secret weapon. They are either deceiving themselves or trying to get an interview.
One thing for sure is that we have zero control over how much money R-Money raises each month but we sure do have plenty of say over how much the Obama Campaign raises each month.
If you can, please donate to any on our Fundraising Team to support the President’s re-election efforts.
Well, Miss Chips is closing in on Her goal, again.
That is great.
New post everyone:
Per pool, Obama consoled woman on rope line whose sister died of colon cancer b/c she couldn't afford insurance. She thanked him for ACA.— Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) July 05, 2012
This is one more reason why ObamaCare was the right thing to do. There are people whose voices aren’t being heard but who have greatly benefited and will benefit from ACA and they will be turning up to vote for Pres. Obama. The pundits don’t know jackshit.
What would Mitt ha said to the woman who lost her sister because she couldn’t afford health insurance? Good old Mitt would have said I am still going to appeal Obamacare.
he’d say, you should get all the medical care you can afford.

This is amazing. Ashleigh Banfield deserves some love for this. Joe Walsh needs to go. He’s ignorant, condescending and ignorant, among other things. When she tries to ask him uncomfortable questions, he talks louder and louder over her. Illinois! GET RID OF THIS JACKASS!

If I cast a vote for that man, Rep. Walsh I would feel so ashame. That man is a disgrace to the human race.
2012 is a chance to clean up the mess made in 2010.
