Fired up! Ready to go!
@davidaxelrod No wonder #BainMitt is a Big Oil fan; it takes huge amounts of lubricant to maintain his 'weather vane' reuters.com/article/2012/0…— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) July 06, 2012
Hey, back at you, Bobfr! I suspect tho that Mitt’s weather vane works without need of lubricant.
CONGRATS VCPREZ on #1!!!
You better believe I’m fired up!
Aww! No pictures? WP is too hot, maybe? Don’t sweat it, CC, we’ll just roll with the punches.
I’m just relieved it isn’t only me VC!
My laptop is doing all kinds of crazy thing with this post too. I can’t seem to access any of the links, so I’m not sure this will even go through.
Copy and paste? Oh! O-kay! You have so spoiled us that I never even contemplated the idea that I had to do something so strenuous.
BTW, CC, would you consider pinning the ‘So when did you first decide…’. thread for a day or two? Maybe through the weekend? It’s uplifting to read other people’s memories, and too ‘strenuous’ to have to go back and look for it. I’m sure the others would agree with me (I hope).
Yes! Move your feet with me here, Df.
Woot! Woot! And you are WAY ahead of me! Go for it VC, and bobfr!
Well, I’m sitting here, ignoring all my options responsibilities; you are responsibly going about the business of the day, so of course I’m ahead at the ‘fun’ activity. But, I won’t apologize.

Turns out it’s not just health care where President Barack Obama sounds a lot like Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Ahead of the June unemployment numbers release this morning, the Democratic reserach group American Bridge is circulating video of a press conference Romney gave in 2006 to defend his economic record as governor.
“I came in and the jobs had been just falling, like off a cliff. I came in and they kept falling for 11 months and then we turned around and we’re coming back. And that’s progress,” Romney said. “And if you’re going to suggest to me that somehow the day I got elected – somehow jobs should immediately turn around, why that would be silly.
“It takes a while to get things turned around. We were in a recession, we were losing jobs every months, we’ve turned around,” Romney continued. “We want to keep that going to the extent we can.”
Unlike health care, there are substantive difference between how Obama has managed the economy as president and how Romney managed it as governor. But rhetorically, there’s not much space between Obama ca. 2012 and Romney ca. 2006, and it’s a reminder that much of the debate over the economy is a fight over who gets stuck with blame for conditions a political executive can only partly control.
Sounds exactly the same to me!
Obama does NOT sound the same as Willard. They have very different policies.
I guess you missed the point of the whole reason they were circulating this video?
I guess I missed the point initially. But I got the point now. I see what you’re saying.
i don’t like the phrase, ‘turns out its not just health care where pbo sounds a lot like gov mitt romney.’ i think that’s what you’re reacting to, and it’s an important point. the last thing we want is to send the message that pbo is just like r-money, or that pbo is following in r-money’s footsteps in any way.
I watch that video and it need to be seen by Americans, then the sorry ass media need to ask Mitt Romney if it will take time for you to turn around the mess you inherited, why should it be any different with President Obama.
I agree with you so I tweeted it earlier, Annieb.
TY @MittRomney for a real explanation of the story behind the President's jobs numbers this month. A Mitt sanity moment youtube.com/watch?v=ArRj-d…— Vick C. (@sonamie) July 06, 2012
The person sitting in for Alex (I think) on MSNBC, did ask a Pittiful spokesman that very question. Of course he couldn’t answer why the double standard, and he looked the fool.
REALLY???? Someone in the “liberal” media actually asked about that?
Well knock me over with a feather…. I’m shocked.
TD, I haven’t been asked to knock anyone over with a feather in ages! Sure brings back memories of all those old saws that were so often used in days gone by.
Steve Scully on C-Span is interviewing people at CMU. Very hot, very supportive. Said running about a half hour late. Repeat from end of last thread. C-Span is now showing him at the restaurant yesterday. Expect we may see more there.
Now they’re showing PBO at a restaurant, just mingling and interacting with the folks who want to take pics with him and talk to him!
When ever I talk to people I always remind them that the jobs numbers would be alot better if it wasn’t for the Republicans. This has been there plan, do all they can to keep the economy weak, then their candidate might have a chance in Nov. They sat on there butts and did nothing but sabotage, obstruct, filibuster anything the President put forth to put people back to work. Now they have the nerve to be complaining about the jobs report.
‘When ever I talk to people I always remind them that the jobs numbers would be alot better if it wasn’t for the Republicans.’
That’s an excellent strategy for us to copy, Annieb; just to drop the idea simply into the conversation. I like it.
He’s at Kozy Corner Restaurant right now looks like speech is at 2:10 Eastern
Scratch that…video from yesterday but ticker at bottom says 2:10

ABOARD THE OBAMA PRESS POOL BUS — Cookiegate lives!
As President Obama’s motorcade rolled across the Ohio-Pennsylvania border, his campaign informed reporters that in Pittsburgh they would be treated to cookies from Bethel Bakery in Bethel Park, Pa., a locally-famous establishment whose 15 minutes of campaign fame followed an unfortunate description of them by Obama’s GOP rival, Mitt Romney.
“I’m not sure about these cookies,” Romney said in April upon being presented the sugary delights. “They don’t look like you made them. No, no. They came from the local 7-Eleven, bakery, or whatever.”
Offended, the Bethel Bakery proprietor ran a Cookiegate special: six free with the purchase of a dozen. After she initially protested to the press, she told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette she meant no offense.
“I was a little shocked,” Julie Lytle, the store’s marketing assistant told the paper. “I didn’t think too much of it at the time, and I didn’t think it would blow up like it has. We decided to have fun with it and not to get offended.”
Obama’s campaign aides rubbed in Romney’s snub Friday.
“Waiting for the press in Pittsburgh… Cookies from Bethel Bakery,” campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki wrote on Twitter. “Another difference with Romney. We love their cookies.”
That’s the way the cookie crumbles, Mitt!

Someone Tweet this, if you will…
Such a lot of intelligent answers by those interviewed. I’m following this on C-Span.
So am I………answers thoughtful and supportive. Must run some errands so will have C-Span on my XM.
College “snobs “
And it showed too! Answers that made tons of sense. People that seemed quite cognizant of the fact that fixing the economy isn’t a matter of snapping your fingers. Answers that revealed that they are aware of some of what PBO has been doing. Yep, those college ‘snobs’! Sure hope they are all registered to vote. Explains why the GOP are so averse to college education being made too, too available.
Just so they know, we know ….

This Kristen WELKER wants so bad to be coverin the Willard Campaign.
She mentions Him more than the President. What are these Reporters so afraid of, having to always mention Willard favorably in their Reports?
It must be coming from management. You know it would be much more fun traveling with PBO than Willard.,
I heard Mrs Greenspan and Jonathan Martin of POLITICO talking earlier about how close Willard and Bibi are implying peace will break out in the Middle East if Willard becomes POTUS.
I don’t believe that.
Bibi and Willard worked together years ago at Bain & Co. Willard has said they were close friends, and Bibi has said they were not that close. Another one of Willard’s lies which Mrs. Greenspan is promoting.
Sorry, it was Boston Consulting Group where they worked together in 1976. Willard left in 1977 to go with Bain.
Except the part where Bibi says he’s not getting involved in U.S. politics:
That to me is a scarey thought! Also gives credence to those who define Mitt as a robot.
In 2008 when Obama took his overseas trip, first as a Senator to Afghanistan, and a brief stop in Iraq, and then on his own to Jordan (press conference) and Israel and then on to Europe, the American press was jumping through hoops to be included–every major network anchor went.
Jovie, isn’t that Kristen woman part of the MSM? So why do we expect any more from her than the rest. We don’t do we. Let that Kristen woman worship Mitt. Who cares.
Two Important New Studies: Spending = Jobs
Which is why the stimulus worked so well….
Zombie recovery threatens Obama.
WTF are they talking about?
LOL! The same zombie that haunts Politico/Knoller/Tapper/Todd’s houses every night!
The recovery is coming along just fine. Politico is a ZOMBIE rag.
Phew, looks like WordPress is fixed (for now) – updating post.
I checked that link at CSPAN to the Poland, OH speech (under View Videos) and it works perfectly. Cheers!
With IRA contributions capped at $6,000 a year, how did Mitt manage to amass an IRA worth $100 million?
Hint: an Island might be involved.
Remember, we are not supposed to ask Willard any questions, we are not going to Vet Him. At least, that is what MSNBainC tells us.
A president who ‘is trying to come off as one of the common folk’? – Who is this insightful reporter?
He is from the WAPo. PBO is the real deal. He does not have to try to come of as …….
An so earnest he was too with his insightful ignorance!
Since the advent of President Obama in my life I’ve learned SO MUCH about the media. This guy for example was serious and credible sounding, and if I didn’t know any better, I’d think he was reporting news, versus sharing his own uninformed opinion. I now pity those who rely solely on these jokers for news.
This President is one of the common folks. He is one of those rich snobs like Mitt Romney and Ann Romney.
He is not one of those rich snobs like Ann and Mitt Romney. That’s what I meant to say.
Yes, Annieb, it’s serious garbage like this reporter not knowing what he was talking about that turned me off the ‘news’.
I love my President and his crew too! They always know just what to do!
So in all this talk about the jobs numbers and the doom and gloom reporting on the news, why do they not talk about the proposals put forth by the Democrats to create jobs that the GOP is stonewalling in Congress? I mean, it’s just confounding why they do not talk about this.
I loooove the crowd at Carnegie Mellon. It may be hot but boy oh boy are they hotter! They are fired up and ready to go. C-SPAN has been interviewing a lot of people in the crowd and they are so supportive of Pres. Obama. His likability factor keeps resonating with them. Everyone kept mentioning how down to earth he seemed, how pragmatic and realistic his ideas to move the country forward are, how compassionate he seems, how thankful they are for ObamaCare, what a gifted speaker he is, what a wonderful leader he is, etc. These factors really matter in terms of retail politics. Pres. Obama gets it. He really and truly gets it.
Hi UT and TOD Family. What a treat!!! Lying here watching our beautiful president. HZ
This is a wonderful crowd ut. I’m enjoying them too!!
Howdy ya’ll. here’s your daily chuckle.
A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of
Seniors down a highway when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady. She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.
After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she hands him another handful of peanuts.
She repeats this gesture about five more times.
When she is about to hand him another batch again ….he asks the little old lady, ‘Why don’t you eat the peanuts yourself?’.
‘We can’t chew them because we’ve no teeth’, she replied.
The puzzled driver asks, ‘Why do you buy them then?’
The old lady replied, ‘We just love the chocolate on them.’
Gross, Yardarm! No little old lady from the previous generation would do anything like this! They’d be too proper.
I don’t know about that. Seniors now a days are a pretty feisty lot.
Yep, THEY”RE HOT!!!!!! as in ENTHUSIASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love our president’s smile. It reminds me of his grandmother telling him to smile more back in 2008. What a cute ,”say hi” from all including Bo. We have the best president ever. HZ
So true, HZ – magnetic smile, for sure!
P.M. Carpenter on Journalistic Malpractice, in reference to the jobs reportk
July 06, 2012
“Beltway commentary on the jobs report is thus far even more distressing than expected. The talking heads and autopilot pens are emphasizing the staggeringly obvious–in June, jobs creation was tepid–while somehow neglecting the even more obvious and, above all, the thunderingly relevant: that this Republican-dominated Congress has hobbled, handcuffed and shackled the president on jobs creation. So what in God’s name did we expect?…
Thank you for posting that link, Eve …

What #BainMitt and the #KOCHSTERS & pimp Adelson and all the rest of them don’t realize is that their millions are just the pus of the hugely infected wound they’ve inflicted on our Republic, on the majority of Americans ….
Well, we’re going to disinfect and heal that wound from now until the end of President Obama’s 2nd term and for generations thereafter … NEVER AGAIN.

IN OBAMA WE TRUST
For the first time in decades, The Advocate has a candidate it can endorse for president. That candidate is Barack Obama.
Never has the substantial progress in equal rights and treatment of LGBT people been more at risk than in this presidential contest. This election presents a choice between starkly opposing futures.
Barack Obama is a leader of undeniable accomplishment, vision, and integrity on LGBT rights. His opponent Mitt Romney betrays equality on numerous issues and aligns himself with a faction of the Republican Party that does not include equality among its declared ideals.
The Advocate’s last endorsement was decades ago, but the president’s statement of May 9, unequivocally in favor of marriage equality, along with his record on LGBT rights, has distinguished him for the ages and has made it clear that he is a transformational leader and our best choice for president.
The cover picture is amazing.
His voice is straining. I guess he has to retrain himself on how to (physically) use it more effectively while on the campaign trail. Now, Mr. President, remember you have months to go, so find your vocal rhythm soon.
@jrpsaki @Messina2012 @PressSec Please get some bottles of water on those podiums so he can take a sip or two and take care of his voice!!!— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) July 06, 2012
Good idea. Sometimes we overlook the simplest solutions. Thanks, partner.
My President is FIRED UP, and so is the crowd on this hot day in Pittsburgh!
I would like some input from all the wonderful people here that are much smarter than I am. I have decided that sometimes sarcasm works better than anything else to get a point across. As many of you know, I live in Joe “Let’s put down a soldier who lost both legs” Walsh’s district. I am thinking of writing a thank you letter to the editor for him. I would like your thoughts. It won’t have any impact on the real loonies, but it ight open the eyes of some of the more reasonable people out there. I am also thinking this might not be a bad template for others to use in their districts if they have a tea party Rep in Congress. ANyway, here goes:
I wanted to do a special thank you to Congressman Joe Walsh, who has been getting some bad press lately.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to make sure that millions of Americans stay unemployed.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to make sure our highways, bridges and other parts of our infrastructure continue to crumble.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to make our deficit worse by making sure that millions continue to need to rely on unemployment checks and food stamps to survive.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to prevent people with pre-existing conditions from getting health insurance.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to increase drug costs for our senior citizens.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to reduce medical care for our children.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to make sure we don’t have enough teachers, firefighters and police officers to educate us and keep us safe.
Thank you, Joe, for doing your best to prove that government is bad by making sure that the government doesn’t have enough money to provide needed services, like fighting forest fires.
And finally, thank you, Joe, for doing your best to make sure that the top 1% pay less in taxes than many hardworking Americans.
So, what do you guys think?
Send it, japa!!!! And, I’ll happily tweet a link to your post here to @RepJoeWalsh if you’d like
Feel free. I am going ahead and sending it when I get home from work.
Yo @RepJoeWalsh One of your constituents expresses their estimation of your service, brilliantly theobamadiary.com/2012/07/06/hea… #TotalFAIL— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) July 06, 2012
Fantastic japa – you should send this ASAP!
should end it with, “thank you, joe, for being the perfect poster child for everything the modern day republicans stand for.” it not about this jerk as a person…it’s about all republicans today and those who vote them into office. call a spade, a spade.
Thank you for your comment. You are right, it is about what the current Republican Party is all about and I will add that line. ANd that is why I think this, just withthe names changed could be sent to papers in the districts of every Republican Congressperson.
Send it! It’s PERFECT, japa! Perfect. In fact, I think we should all send that very email, LTE to our local newspaper, to our RW reps or senators….Awesome.
I live in his district, too! I’m going to be in the 10th though since the districts were redrawn; I’m going to an event on Sunday for Schneider, who is running against Dold. Hopefully Walsh’s antics over the last two years have convinced enough people around here to not vote for a loony like him again. Tammy has it in the bag, especially after his recent attack on her.
I think your letter is great.
Good job Japa, send it in. I look forward to reading it. Actually, I was on a winger site and the owner of the blog, a CNN contributor was extolling why he supports Walsh and why his readers should as well. Whenever anyone push back on that line or gave Tammy her due as a veteran, they were immediately shot down, ridiculed, or threatened with being banned from the site. We’ll never reach the ones who think it was OK for Walsh to say what he did, but maybe the ones who objected can be swayed. Those are the ones who will read your letter and want to distance themselves from a party who has Walsh types in it.
He’s skinny, but he’s tough!! (But he’s not going to have a voice after this bus tour!! SOMEBODY give that man some tea with honey!!!)
i LOVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE that he is owning his healthcare law. THEY love it too!!
Biggest applause line—–people want him (and Dems) to brag about the accomplishments. And all thinking people recognize that health care reform was a huge accomplishment—–a BFD!
California Bullet Train Clears California Assembly, Heads For Senate
The California High Speed Rail Authority’s plans to build a massive state and federally funded high speed rail line connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco passed a crucial test on Thursday when the California Assembly voted 51-27 in favor of an $8 billion funding measure to start the $68 billion project, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Now the funding measure is headed to the state Senate for a Friday afternoon vote, where the margin of success will be even tighter, with 21 of 25 Democrats needed to pass the measure but as many as six defectors who might oppose it. The California Senate’s 15 Republicans are all expected to oppose the measure.
This never gets old…what a connection
It is a beautiful moment, every time he speaks, it is a wonderful privilege to be a witness to it, df!!!
It sure is. I literally feel my heart swell with unimaginable pride and promise.
WOW…Check out this STUNNING panoramic view of the crowd at PBO’s speech today!!!
Wow 6500 ppl suffered through that heat of close to 100 degrees to see this great man and Romney’s little bracketing crew got approx 200. That should tell them everything they need to know about PA.
Don’t you just LOVE those???? I saw one of the inauguration in Jan 2009. AWESOME!!! Love that technology!
WOW!!!! I love seeing those! I also love to see all those people there.
that was wonderful
Podium Slap!!!! Mittt your face just got smacked!!!!
Bobfr. I LOVE THAT SONG!!!! BRRUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCEEEEEEE!!!!
Here’s the other one the campaign uses sometimes right after PBO finishes…
KEEP MARCHIN’ Raphael Saadiq
The reporter cspan talked to said that jobs numbers are always low in the summer months….the bikini chart shows he is correct.
Exactly! Judging from the company where I work we do very little hiring in the summer (we use summer interns). I think the hiring numbers will pickup in Sept and Oct. Hopefully just in time for the election.
I miss Reggie Love!!! See, now, Reggie would have had a handkerchief, water and his hand sanitizer READY TO GO!! I’m not happy with his new “body man” NOT HAPPY!!!
I’m starting to hate the first Friday of the month.
I’m scared to ask, DI….. But here goes? Why do you hate first Friday?
Just the jobs reports. That is all. haha
oh, okay. Just checkin. There’s a new thread with the panoramic picture.
The monthly jobs report.
It’s ok DI….its predictable…even if the numbers were higher, it would be the same….
why? you hate hearing about 28 straight months of private sector job gains? after inheriting months of 750-850 thousand job lost per month? you can’t let the msm republican spin merchants get you down. that’s exactly what they’re trying to make happen.
Drunken Irishmen, keep the faith. We knew there will be bumps along the way, but we must stay focus, we know we have the right man for the job, and we must do whatever we can to help re-elect him. Another thing we must do not suck up all this B.S. from the MSM and those two bit pundits. Today I have not listen to any of the media talking about the jobs report.
Man I am making the mistakes today. What I meant to say is another thing we must not do is suck up all the B.S. which the MSM and those two bit pundits are putting out there.
Did you see the man with the Afro ?
YES! He HAD to be hot!!!
That was a bloody fantastic speech! This two day bus tour was fabulous. The local news coverage has been very positive. People like Pres. Obama and understand the mountain of problems he walked into and the wonderful accomplishments he has under his belt and that matters a lot. It also made for very good tweeting, especially for folks who weren’t able to catch the event the LIVE or got cut off by the 5 minute coverage cable news allowed them.

New post everyone, see you in a while:
Another great appearance by President Obama—–big enthusiastic crowd in stifling heat. Some people on the rope line sure have a lot to say. I always wonder about that. First I’m impressed by their composure—–I would probably just blubber out something unintelligible—–but I wonder what they’re determined to talk to him about as he’s trying to move down the line and shake as many hands as possible.
