Eeeep eeeep! :-)
Flowers for Joan!
Thank you Chips for the flowers! Couldn’t have pleased me more, especially with our president in the midst of them!
You’re welcome Joan! When I think of you I think of flowers and PBO …. what a lovely combination!
That picture of POTUS buying flowers, was that for his and FLOTUS anniversary or birthday. Seem to me, if my memory serve me right it was POTUS and FLOTUS anniversary and he bought her some flowers.
JOAN! Yes. You. Are!
Congrats Joan on #1!
hey congrats joanshaw -way to go
Am I First?
Tried again. Congrats joanshaw on 1st :)
Clearly it’s not the number of Dems on the Sunday talk shows, but the quality of them.
Wow Check mate Willard! Stick a fork in him,… he’s done!
well done, I say
But not succulent!
Where’s McCain hiding? I’m sure he can clear up any questions regarding Mitts 23 years of taxes. You usually can’t escape seeing his mug on TV every Sunday; what gives?
Okay, we all know Mitt Romney is rich, so he is not hiding that. But what?????????
And I don’t mind his being rich … he can be as rich as possible, no problemo. But how many people did he hurt to get rich? How many jobs in the U.S. were lost to get rich? How many jobs were outsourced in his quest for money, profits? How many laws were broken to pursue his agenda of “rescuing” the Olympics, running for Governor of MA, running for President? How many accounts does he have in other countries to avoid paying taxes in this one … the one he says he wants to be President of?
For he and Steve Schmidt; that’s the million dollar question.
I agree about McCain and Schmidt, but I guess it may be illegal to reveal what’s in somebody else’s tax returns … even the IRS can’t reveal that. But, hey, illegal doesn’t mean much to these folks, so maybe we’ll hear from ‘em at some point.
But the Anchors are desperately trying to cover for Willard, and the People they have on, all want answers. However, I can’t figure out why the Conservative Journalists want them? Unless, it’s their Job?
It’s not working, no matter how much they try…..
True! It’s funny.
They want them because they think it’s better to show you’re a weasel early on — get past that. The refusal to release the tax returns just means that when they are released, they’ll be a Blowout. Examined with a microscope. And the longer it takes, the worse the scrutiny will be.
I think it’s interesting that the 2 people we know who have seen Willard’s returns, who were everywhere on the TV, on a regular basis, are now nowhere to be found since the heightened attention on this subject.
They’re hiding out, Dotster, because they don’t want to help Romney with his Bain problems. I can understand not seeing Steve Schmidt on TV, but having McCain MIA is very strange. He loves showing up on Sunday morning “news” programs. I love Steve Benen. SB says it doesn’t make sense for McCain to be on Sunday “news” programs so much because he’s doesn’t have expertise in any area.
I like that Kristoll said…take the hit for a day or two lol…..yes sure…….
Romney & Company are picturing investigative reporters pouting over those returns and posing unanswerable questions for the next MONTH or two….
Well, I can’t wait. Go to it, people, investigate investigate investigate.
Mayor Rahm tole it like it is!!!! He was great and so was Stephanie Cutter.
Yes indeedy. Mayor Rahm was speaking truth to crazy. In what universe would someone believe the sole owner, chief executive officer, president, and managing director had no involvement with his or her company. And I have a big girlcrush on my sista-women, Stephanie Cutter. I love me some Stephanie Cutter. She is amazingly awesome. PBO’s Firm ad is just made of awesome – best political ad EVAR!!
I love all of them, but my favorite is Stephanie “The Cutter”

5 Ways Republicans Have Sabotaged Job Growth
Republican intransigence on economic policy has been a key contributor to the sluggish recovery.
[Read the full article, but here's the meat...]
Here are the top five ways the Republicans have sabotaged the economic recovery since:
1. Filibustering the American Jobs Act. Last October, Senate Republicans killed a jobs bill proposed by President Obama that would have pumped $447 billion into the economy. Multiple economic analysts predicted the bill would add around two million jobs and hailed it as defense against a double-dip recession. The Congressional Budget Office also scored it as a net deficit reducer over ten years, and the American public supported the bill.
2. Stonewalling monetary stimulus. The Federal Reserve can doenormous good for a depressed economy through more aggressive monetary stimulus, and by tolerating a temporarily higher level of inflation. But with everything from Ron Paul’s anti-inflationary crusade to Rick Perry threatening to lynch Chairman Ben Bernanke, Republicans have browbeaten the Fed into not going down this path. Most damagingly, the GOP repeatedly held up President Obama’s nominations to the Federal Reserve Board during the critical months of the recession, leaving the board without the institutional clout it needed to help the economy.
3. Threatening a debt default. Even though the country didn’t actually hit its debt ceiling last summer, the Republican threat to default on the United States’ outstanding obligations was sufficient to spook financial markets and do real damage to the economy.
4. Cutting discretionary spending in the debt ceiling deal. The deal the GOP extracted as the price for avoiding default imposed around $900 billion in cuts over ten years. It included $30.5 billion in discretionary cuts in 2012 alone, costing the country 0.3 percent in economic growth and 323,000 jobs, according to estimates from the Economic Policy Institute. Starting in 2013, the deal will trigger another $1.2 trillion in cuts over ten years.
5. Cutting discretionary spending in the budget deal. While not as cataclysmic as the debt ceiling brinksmanship, Republicans alsothreatened a shutdown of the government in early 2011 if cuts were not made to that year’s budget. The deal they struck with the White Housecut $38 billion from food stamps, health, education, law enforcement, and low-income programs among others, while sparing defense almost entirely.
So these Republicans were all set to let people suffer, to go without jobs just so they could have a chance at winning in November. That proves they don’t give a dam about the middle class. And for sure not the poor.
I love all those video clips. willard is a rat and the rat is getting caged.
yep, he’s caught in a trap of his own creation.
It is often called Karma! The inescapable… Until we recognize it is all our own doing, or undoing, our thoughts and actions will eventually find us, there is no where to hide. It’s not like money! That is the sweetest part of it all!
Is this his portrait along with his would-be master Grover Norquist?
You need to stop, Dudette! You had me laughing so hard my pup, Winston, gave me a funny look. I guess he thought I was going crazy.
this is a keeper!!
This might be a better one…
Poor rats! To be compared with Willard Mitt.
I know, Joan! We always compare humans to animals, when in reality, and in nature, animals are much better behaved than many humans, with a programmed morality sadly lacking in many who call themselves human beings. Even the poor elephant, being used as the symbol for a group of people who seem to have no regard for the Earth or nature at all!
ROTFLMAO ! Thanks Dudette!
Here is my guess for Morning Junk tomorrow.
That is too easy.
Linda I use to call it Morning Joke, but I think I like Morning Junk better.
Mika will nod and say ” We like Mitt Romney “
Do Mika say anything? The times I used to watch she sat there like a knot on a log, saying nothing…
Anniebella, you got it just about right. And the sad part is, her father (love him or hate him…) was actually very outspoken in his role as National Security Advisor to Jimmy Carter back in the late 1970s. Earlier, he also advised JF Kennedy. Later, he also advised Reagan and GHW Bush.
How his mousy, just ‘go along to get along’ daughter got a job on TV is beyond me. No, never mind. No, it isn’t. Her daddy was relatively famous… Whatever, Mika. Whatever…
Mika got the job just like Luke Russert got his job, his daddy. Not because they knew what they were doing.
She’s Joe’s submissive TV wife. It’s maddening to watch.
If you get Current TV, check out Stephanie Miller from 9:00am-noon. Bill Press is on from 6:00am-9:00. He’s not a favorite, but he sure is better than Morning Joke.
Good afternoon Chpis and TOD family! I am just back from a wonderful week in the back country of Montana! I so love being where there is no outside connections! It just makes it hard when you get back to catch up on a weeks worth of TOD. Doesn’t look like much went on while I was gone, ha, ha! Sounds like out President and his campaign are kicking some A$$! Now off to do some reading and retweeting!
Welcome back. There’s some beautiful country there.
Oh, no, mtmarilyn, there were no threads with upwards of 350-400 comments, no mention of the iPads in revolution! I know how you feel to have taken the disconnect time, it is time outside of time! Welcome back!
Thanks for the welcome back. We do call this God’s country! I was noticing those threads with all the comments. I can’t wait to listen to the President’s speeches, especially the one in the rain!
I love how we finally are getting the right people on the morning shows. There are many months to go but our guys on are the right track.
You guys are all the best and getting all the information out. Keep up the great work!
Welcome back, mtmarilyn. HZ
I wonder if they ever put Rovian politics or Southern strategy politics banner on the screen when a Republican is talking.
Yes That tactic was so rude and debasing, as if it is somehow dirty “Chicago politics” to request transparency and truth from the candidate for president.
I was going to comment on that. I’m glad you brought it up. Georgie boy sure is a stinker.
So…….Rahm and others own it like the President did with Obamacare, and say “Chicago politics” means transparency and honesty! Use it in your favor…..Chicago politics also means interesting, hard fought, exciting.
And so, they end up redefining a supposed slur – good for them.
the 47 second Rahm clip was a thing of beauty!!!!! He said everything that needed to be said in less than 1 minute!!!
especially the stuff about Sistuh Moose!!!! The McCain people “took a look at it [Willard's taxes] and went with Sarah Palin.”
Rahm is fierce. They called him “Rambo” for good reason.
Obama:”We won’t be apologizing”
POTUS is owning the attacks and is not backing down. Seems GOP should have listened when Biden said Obama’s got a “spine of steel”
Romney originally called for Obama to apologize Friday, saying on ABC that the president “sure as heck ought to say he’s sorry for the kinds of attacks that are coming from his team.”
“No, we won’t be apologizing,” Obama said in response. His remarks came during an interview airing Sunday on CNN affiliate WAVY, based in Norfolk, Virginia.
In the interview, Obama waved off his rival’s grievance that he’s running an overwhelmingly negative campaign. The Romney campaign released an ad Sunday called “Hope and Change?” questioning whether the president’s 2008 campaign slogan had proved disappeared in 2012
“You don’t hear me complaining a lot about what’s been said about me,” Obama said. “And Lord knows a lot’s been said about me over the past three and a half years. I understand the nature of our democracy has always been a little bit messy like this.”
Yes, there’s that spine of steel. “I may be skinny but I am tough”.
Amen Mr. President, I love it, I love it when the President said “you don’t hear me complaining alot about what’s been said about me. And Lord knows alot has been said over the past three and a half years. Amen! Amen! Amen! This President and First Lady have had to put up with alot of B.S. from all kind of the Republicans. And never once did anyone from the leadership of the party stand up and say that was not necessary. But FLOTUS and POTUS didn’t complain.
I totally agree, Anniebella! I’m glad he said this. He has heard and seen every insult and ugly lies they’ve said about him – and he’s risen above it. Romney is confronted with the truth, and he wants the truth to change. Very pathetic.
theo, Romney is both a bully and a coward. He likes to attack people but he starts crying and asking for mercy when he runs into a people who’re not afraid of him. Just to think that this is a person who wrote a book entitled “No apologies.” Like all cowardly bullies he thinks he is macho by saying he doesn’t apologize to anyone including those he has harmed. Yet the moment he is exposed for his lies he goes around crying on broadcast media asking for apologies. Rahm was right: Mitt should stop whining! It’s not becoming of a person who aspires to be President.
Damn right he won’t be apologizing. Isn’t that just take the cake? They must believe all those rumors they spread on Faux Spews about him being weak and apologizing to everyone.
They must’ve missed that whole Bin Laden event that was taking place while PBO was cracking jokes. And they certainly missed the meeting with Putin, where 24 hrs later Putin’s ships carrying arms to Syria couldn”t find a place to dock and had to turn around.
And they must have missed that pirate story where they took them out before they could reach the shore. Bet they thought they were home free!
How about his going to Republican retreat and smilingly, politely answering all their questions and making them cry ‘uncle’ like fools. Or how he sat Paul Ryan in the front row while he eviscerated his Path to Poverty plan or talked about the perils of Citizen’s United with the Robert’s court in the front row of the SOTU address.
And they must have missed how everyone was saying PBO wouldn’t dare say anything to the Donald at the WHCD and we had the biggest laughs of the night at the carnival barker expense.
They said he would never go to Arizona after Gifford’s shooting, too hostile an environment.
This is the guy who ‘shook down’ BP after the BP oil spill
Seems they are really believing all the foolish things they say. Well hell, good for us. That just means he’ll keep surprising them! SMDH
Dayum LunarSea…that list is great!!. I am saving for later.
happy to oblige.
This is a part of President Barack Obama’s character that keeps him so close and personal with his core as he daily travels through this journey. It is one of the traits that made a generation of young and old people rise up and look to the hills and see Hope, Grace, and thus Change in this our 44th President of the United States.
He operates with honesty and a calmness that give all of us a sense of respect, love, and trust for him. His convictions, his character, and his love of helping those who are trying to experience the fairness, the American promise, and the “being your brother’s and sister’s keeper.” All of these make that spine of his that one of a kind “spine of steel.”HZ
Excellent – and spot on!
Perfect, Lunar Sea. They never have seen the real President Obama and so planned their whole campaign around an imaginary opponent. The real president is a powerful force that is knocking them silly and they don’t know how to respond. Romney appears like a foolish little boy asking for an apology. He showed himself as weak, lying on his back in front of the alpha male. Hard to recover from that image.
The picture of the President and that little girl is pure poetry of love and trust in its purest form.
Thank YOU Zulu, I could post those photos every day for 10 years, just beautiful.
She is just four years old but already she has so much CHARISMA! Check out her bright eyes and great smile, her confident wave, and those outstretched hands to embrace her President. She is, without a doubt, an iconic representation of the future of this country that President Obama is fighting hard for. It’s really amazing to see how children of all ages, races, genders and nationality, respond so warmly to President Obama. This reminds me of the Irish redhead child and the Australian middle schooler who were just as excited to be able to hug President Obama. I am so grateful to Chipsticks for bringing us all these images that we would not normally get to see from the MSM. The vast majority of Americans are not exposed to these images of the President: his love for all children and not just his own, and the way children respond to him.
It is hilarious that he is asking for all of these apologies and the name of his book is “No Apology”?
I know, go figure! The delicious irony…
You could write this stuff, but who would believe it.
Romney is a typical cowardly bully! He makes no apologies to any one, yet he demands apologies from everyone who exposes his lies and makes him look bad.
When your ally, Roger Simon at Politico, is laughing at you, you’re in trouble:

So, Myth is basically saying everyone is hurting his feelings and they can stop now, so he can go back to pretending he has even one single qualification for the highest office in the country. This kind of Truth is painful, Myth, and that’s the truth of it. Might as well own it, nothing can take it away now.
he he he hear hear
I don’t think that MR is used to ANYONE telling him what to do, much less the truth. I think he surrounds himself with “yes men”….to agree with him at every turn….guess that truth thing is hard! It just took a chunk out of his ass, too!
Desertflower, I think you said something so powerful. “I think he surrounds himself with ‘yes men’..to agree with him at every turn..
Our parents always told us to be careful who we surrounded ourselves with during our life. I have always remembered that as has my sibling. Now in our older years that little gem from them still stands. It announces who you are in this life. HZ
I totally agree with you HZ and df! Romney thinks that the whole country will treat him the way the Bain people treated him when he was the CEO. It’s also obvious that the Romney team, despite all the help it’s received from the MSM, is not ready for Prime Time. President Obama is not Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich. He has already proven he can win a national election. By the way, of all the Democratic presidential candidates, since LBJ, President Obama is the only Democratic candidate who won a decisive majority of the popular vote. People forget that Bill Clinton, while he won the electoral votes, never won 50.1% of the popular votes for both of his two terms. in 1992, he won slightly over 43% of the popular vote. And 1996, he won 49% of the popular vote. Compare that to President Obama’s 53% of the popular vote. If we work very hard President Obama may win more than 53% of the popular vote.

Is there any word if Willard is coming back on the campaign trail?
President Obama’s Best Eating Photo Best Eating Photo of the Week: Sharing Strawberry Pie In Ohio
During one of the many stops on his culinary odyssey through Ohio and Pennsylvania, President Obama shared his dessert of a slice of whipped cream-topped Strawberry Pie with a young boy at the end of his lunch …
oh my gosh!!! this little cutie had a huge bite out of PBO’s pie!!! this is too awesome! He’ll always remember this. how many people can say they ate some of PBO’s pie?!!!
so beautiful, and a reminder that r-money pushed his children’s faces and his grandchildren’s faces into plates of food.
Love that photo! And—-I can’t believe we (my fam) were at that down home cookin’ place last year when we were vacationing nearby. My oldest daughter, our “trip director” led the way—–(as always)—–after snooping around to find out which nearby joints had the most deliciousness.
The President was asked by Charlie Rose, about Robney attacks on the Economy.
He said, yes -and you don’t hear me WHINING about it either.
That was a dig at Robney.
Linda has it right- Dan Señor will be on Morning Ass for 3 hours bashing the President, Ed Rendell will also be on sticking up for Bain and Mark Halperin will be giving his political inside the Beltway analysis, that a 9 year ok’d could do!
Oh, and his guests will be Paul Ryan, Jon Sununu and Eric Cantor.
OMG…..I am off to e-mail them……this is just getting ridiculous…….
Jovie – I had to laugh since we’ve come from Morning Joe to Morning Joke and all kinds of other names and you’ve brought it home where it belongs to Morning Ass. Well done!
Hello to everyone one at this awesome site. If ever you question the effectiveness of your contribution to inform readers of the wonderful work President Obama is doing, let me allay your concerns.
Last evening, around 9pm, I went to the supermart just down the road from my house. The owners and I are good friends. The wife, who mostly manages the business had told me that this returning Montserratian Adventist lay preacher kept coming to her store and bashing President Obama. It so happened that he arrived there last evening the same time I did and he proceeded to malign POB. Needless to say, I jumped to POB’s defence and we engaged in a heated debate. It was amazing to hear the misinformation he was spewing out. Now, someone who has no information about POB’s achievements since he took office would be easily swayed by his words. But, armed with the information I gather from this blog, I knocked down every false accusation he made – from political to personal to religious.
Before he left, I had him agreeing that POB has been the USA’s most successful President in a century and that he is going to be re-elected on November 6th. I also told him to check the source of information he is given before he repeats it.
Most importantly, I showed the owner of the supermart how to deal with false information about POB and I recommended this blog. She too is a POB supporter. Thank you Chips for making it available to
What a great story! Good for you for telling the truth…and even more, getting HIM to understand FACTS! Not an easy job when someone is so wedded to the lies coming from the other side. Excellent job…one person at a time…you ARE a warrior, and we are so grateful:) Thanks!
love it – great job. Hope you bought yourself a bucket of rocky road ice cream as a reward. You earned it.
Great job PrayerWarriorforObama. FLOTUS always ask we in? Do we have his back? And from listening to you I know darn well you have POTUS back. Fired Up and Ready to go.
LOL!!! you sure he didn’t agree with you so he can get out of store?! Sounds like you got him real good. Thank you for sticking up for our guy. :)
It surprises me that someone who claims to be a preacher can be so quick to believe and spread the worst about another person, with so little verified information to back them up. Isn’t it his job, as a preacher, to spread good news, hope, and to seek the better angels of those around him? Sounds like a hypocrite. But, I’m glad you were well armed for the encounter!
Essentially romney is saying that his own signature is meaningless.
Well pretty much everything else about him is meaningless, so this is par for the course.
lol so true
So, “No Apology” Mitt demands an apology. Isn’t that rich?
Someone said up thread that he’s probably surrounded himself with yes men forever and never had his actions questioned. Throw in his being a Bishop in his cult and you know he’s not used to it.
Yep, I can’t wait for the debates. Wish they’d move them up early.
We did a weekend of action today in Florida. Every time we fan out and register Voters like this, we get 2k-3500.
We do this once a month, and we have Teams in the field everyday registering Voters. I would say, we have gotten over 200k, since starting registering Voters last Fall!
Do they have all their needed paper work? Also, because of limited voting days in FL is OFA planning special things such as chairs, water, possibly music since I’ve seen those long lines in Florida?
Tweet that to OFA Florida. They will answer You!
You’re doing yeoman’s work, Jovie. Keep it up!!
Nice job, Jovie! I now have standing times to go to a community center a couple days a week, from now until the cut off to register….got the ok today, and I could not be more thrilled! Told my field organizer and she is through the roof, because this place is VERY busy! I’ll be very busy, between my phone bank night, community center registrations and PP registrations….I am thrilled:)
wow wonderful work.
Kudos to you Jovie!
Well done Jovie! With all the good work that you and others are doing, I think the President has a chance to win Florida again.
MSNBC best shows are between the hours of 4-10pm. I do respect Thomas Roberts and he’s between 11-12pm, and Tamyrn 2-3pm. I think the cycle could have been decent if they didn’t have SARAH “SE” CUPP..
“if he were to put on an antique diving helmet and a gorilla suit and recite the Gettysburg Address from a diving board 43 ft. above a wading pool filled with piranhas, Mitt Romney still would not be the slightest bit interesting.” That is perfect. Entertaining read if not for that alone—-but also about Willard’s only supporter—-a 69 yr. old retired insurance salesman from Va., Jim Wilson, who just loves him some Willard, has followed him all over the country, at every appearance, for reasons no one knows—-only he and his therapist, as was said.
Slouching Towards Tampa (Truckin' edition) at bit.ly/NW7duT.— Dems for Progress (@demsforprogress) July 15, 2012
For me, today is the most gratifying week of Democratic messaging during this entire presidential election cycle. I am going to savor it. Even Republicans are helping with Democratic messaging today. Keep up the excellent work Team Obama.
I am enjoying it too Fired up. It is a thing of beauty and all credit goes to PBO and his team!!! The MSM is forced to cover it. Awesome.
What’s amazing to me is, the normally laser focused, all on message, by all of them, all the time…in lockstep….is all kinds of screwed up now. Never seen this in my life, and it;s a thing of beauty to behold…they’re tripping all over themselves.
All the tight, orchestrated, relentless, non-defensive messaging is coming from Team Obama.
Neither Mitt nor the media seemed to be prepared for this thing of beauty. We’re still supposed to be talking about Mitt’s NAACP theatrical stunt or something, instead we’re hearing Mitt forcefully declare on five different networks, “I did not work at Bain. I did not work at Bain. I did not work at Bain…”
Flashback to the GOP primaries and the entirety of his adulthood):
Explain to the American people why you should be President? “I worked at Bain. I worked at Bain. I worked at Bain.”
or another answer ‘because it’s my turn’
If Willard retroactively resigned half his governorship he could be the male Sarah Palin.
HAHAHAHA! Another asshat.
Someone ought to tell Ryan what Mittens said about those blind trusts….
“The blind trust is an age-old ruse, if you will, which is to say, you can always tell the blind trust what it can and cannot do. You give a blind trust rules.” – Mitt Romney, 1994.
My God, after watching Democratic politics for 68 yrs (fed, state & local), I have NEVER seen anything like this! I am fond of thinking of Pres. Obama as a coiled cobra. For me this is what it really looks like. As Smartypants would say “ruthless strategy”, lay low, let them think you are weak & then attack with the lethal strike of a cobra!!!
He’s the Karate Kid! :-D
It reminds me of that video where they ask PBO about being so cool and he says if he feels taken advantage of, he crushes them, then he laughs and says, no, laughs again, and then says yes I do. So funny, so prophetic now.
I tried to find that video yesterday but couldn’t. Does anyone have a link to it?
I’d like to tweet it.
never mind. I see it’s posted down thread.
Here it is. Someone actually posted it further down thread, but here’s the link:
In the story of the scorpion and the frog, turns out President Obama was the scorpion all along.

According to Mark Knoller aka Mr. Gossip, Pres. Obama is doing a town hall next week in one of the states where he’ll be campaigning.
Yes, but will he be playing golf after, Mark? I mean, we really need that fact. And will he be stopping for donuts?
He is coming to Florida for 2 days! I think I will ask Him what Secret Planes are being built at Area 51? You think he will tell me?
maybe, right before the SS take you out. LOL
Great to hear a town hall meeting. Looking FORWARD.
I know he’s in Cinncy—-and then 4 stops in 2 days in Fl.—–Jacksonville, Palm Beach–? (overnight there) then Ft. Myers and Orlando.

I think the best angle on what’s happening here comes from TPM Reader WM …
I’m not a GOP operative (thank God), but I do work on Wall Street (the industry, not the geographic location) and I think it’s worth noting that Romney’s reaction to the Bain Storm is very much of a piece with the way assorted hedge fund managers, bankers and other Masters of the Universe have responded to even the slightest criticism from Obama — with as much shock as outrage.
Over the past 20-25 years these guys have gotten used to extreme deference from BOTH parties (think Cory Booker and Ed Rendell) and like to think of themselves as rational beings who are far, far above the partisan sandbox in Washington, up there in the financial heavens, doing the Lord’s Work — to quote Lloyd Blankfein.
I’ve had enough contact with the PE guys to know they particularly see themselves in a heroic light — as the saviors of capitalism from the quasi-socialist clutches of entrenched management, the unions, outside pressure groups, and the other “stakeholders” of the big public corporations (the PE guys really detest that concept).
What’s more, they’re usually insulated enough from normal human reality that they can assume all “reasonable” people see things the same way. And when you’ve got as much money to spend on campaign contributions, endowed chairs, wingnut welfare, etc. as they do, an awful lot of people are going to see things your way, or at least tell you that they do.
Point is, Mitt is not only congenitally blind to the optics of all this, he also appears — to quote Sonny from the Godfather — to be taking it very, very personally. That’s the only way I can explain his incredibly bizarre decision to spend the entire afternoon on TV talking about it, which is about the best way imaginable to keep the feeding frenzy going.
You’d think after a gubernatorial race and two runs for president, Romney would have adjusted his attitude, or at least figured out a strategy for dealing with it. But he apparently can’t — the sense of his own rectitude (upon which his sense of entitlement rests) just won’t allow it.
What’s odder is that the entire Romney campaign seems to have the same inability to engage on Bain on any other level than personal indignation. And indignation, as you correctly note, is for whimps.
My guess is that this reflects the same rigid, top-down, sycophantic management structure that Wall Street loves — which if it didn’t cause the 2008 financial crisis, a least contributed to it. The campaign can’t really be any cooler or capable than Mitt is himself — which, when it comes to dealing with criticism, clearly ain’t much.
I shudder to think what that would mean if Mitt ends up in charge of the U.S. government.
I’ve read stories like this about these hedge fund guys. Its still hard to believe that they think they are doing “the Lord’s work”!!! What the hell are they contributing to society?!
If stories like this shock you, then you should read about “The Family”, who actually believe that they are the “chosen ones”, and that the bible was misinterpreted. They believe that Jesus came for the rich, not the poor; and that those who are chosen were given the tools to be rich – and everyone else is meant to serve them. They’re delusional.
omg. Kill me now.
Certainly not! :) These people on the right are certifiable.
yeah, this is the kind of crap they feed each other at their K Street house. Crazy mofo hell bent toward world domination. Seriously
Probably somebody has come up with this before, but maybe Romney isn’t releasing his tax returns because maybe he’s even hiding money from the LDS and isn’t giving his 10% tithe, each year, that they are required to do. (Please don’t see that as a dig at Mormonism; it’s a dig at that liar Romney.)
That’s very plausible. I think it’s a lot of things. I think he’s hiding information about his offshore holdings, questionable transactions in Bermuda, the substance of his company’s unethical investments and perhaps some very illegal stuff, like how he has an IRA that, given the legal contribution limits, somehow ballooned to $102 MILLION.
Yes, you are probably right, meta, and funny that “we” can surmise this, but still there’s no way that anybody has been able to push him into releasing his returns. Finally, the Republicans have found a candidate that won’t listen to the RWNJs and is only fending for himself. Hopefully, they’ll all implode, soon, although if Romney doesn’t get the nomination because of his crookery, my biggest fear is that anybody next in line would look almost “normal” compared to Romney and perhaps bring out the RWNJ voters. So, I clearly do not know what to wish for, at this point, other than to just wish it were all ohvah!
But you know what Jacqueline, I strongly believe that Romney is the “best” candidate that the GOP had this year. All the others are similarly or even more flawed, which puts the GOP is in a serious bind if this Bain/tax return issue persists.
I agree about the others, hf2. You have reminded me that Romney kept his trap shut long enough during the primary so that the others could take turns going down, which was a pleasure to watch. I won’t be so much interested in how it all unfolds these next few months, as I will be when it’s finally over and we have our wonderful President re-elected.
I’ll keep saying it. To the Rethugs, Sole Patrollers, Emo-leftie whiners.
Underestimate Barack Obama at your own peril. Plus, he told y’all, he really did…
“I will crush them”. Apparently Mittens and his ilk have not seen this video. :)
OMG, I did not see this as I was upthread, but this is EXACTLY the video I was talking about. Great minds think alike :D
he looks so young there and it was just a few years ago.
Thank you IOP. I have been looking for this. I will be sure to bookmark it this time!
This is what I think of Romney and his supporters (NSFW)
“sing it out with me!!” :-)
More trouble for Mitt . . . drip, drip, drip. Hope this will never stop!
PBO will have his first town hall meeting of the election tomorrow in Cincinnati, OH.
I hope they show it on TV stream….!!!!
Me two desertflower.
… President Obama will be taking part in a town hall meeting at Music Hall Monday afternoon. It’s scheduled to start around 2:20.
Is that EST? I’m on PST, so I always wonder what time things are and frequently miss things because I’m off by an hour…like the CBS interview this morning.
Appears to be EST.
Yes, Cincy is in the Eastern Time Zone.
YAYAYAYAYYYYY!! I LOVE his town halls.
Let’s see when and how Romney’s campaign tries to crash them. We’re ready!!
I think we’re ready if the MSM start with that sick spin…
”Howard Kurtz: When Has Barack Obama Ever Gotten This Kind of Media Scrutiny
I sent him a tweet saying that the scrutiny PO got was all made up controversies made up by RW media including TeaNN….Rev. Wright, flag pin, birth cerfiticate, etc.
Now a tax evader and who knows what who refuse to show his tax returns is getting too much scrutiny??…..
I can just imagine if PO had been a war mongering draft dodger, tax evader…..the RWers are still calling him unamerican to this day for no other reason than the color of his skin…..sick *******
When is the media talking about mormorism or his time as a bishop? Never…as it should be off limits…but questioning the President faith was never off limits…
So many examples, it’s hard to keep track……anyway they better not start this BS that it’s unfair, too much scrutiny….right!
And everyone and their brother has written a book about him, with every detail of his life, which may or may not have been true.
Exactly. Where is Ms. Kantor’s book on Bain Mitt’s tax return?
What’s up with Howard Kurtz? A Republican. Mitt based his whole run for President on his work at Bain Capital. So why is it wrong to see just what he did at Bain Capitol. Tell the Republican Kurtz to go straight to you know where.
Tweet Howard Stupid Kurtz..”How can you ask that question with a straight face? Your face is straight, isn’t it?”
President Obama has the most NEGATIVE COVERAGE of anybody by the corporatemediaWhore$$$..of which Kurtz is one. What’s the matter, Kurtz..is it getting too hot for widdle willard? Ya dumb f**ks.
Lightbulb moment!!! http://www.boston.com/politicalintelligence/2012/07/13/mitt-romney-tells-networks-ceased-bain-management-involvement/4pVTatffkHhZjbDOZHckoL/story.html
Look how he describes Bain:
“It’s said by the offering documents that the firm made subsequently about people investing in the firm,” Romney added. “And I think anybody who knows I was out full-time running the Olympics would understand that’s where I was: I spent three years running the Olympic Games, and after that was over, we worked out our retirement program, our departure-official program, for Bain Capital, and handed over the shares I had. But there’s a difference between being a shareholder – an owner, if you will – and being a person who’s running an entity.”
An ENTITY??? Really Mitt? I thought CORPORATIONS WERE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! An entity is a THING!
If you look at that closely, I think he’s admitting there’s a difference between being what he was and “being a person.” I agree, Romney.
If this is true, then it proves that he misled investors and lied to the SEC.
he just keeps telling us it’s true, and even though he’s a documented liar, maybe we should believe him on this one: he lied to the sec, the election commission, and the american people, in order to make money. okay, this i believe.
If he’s so keen to be believed about this, then I hope he’ll be just as keen as to be prosecuted.
Romney’s Bain Yielded Private Gains, Socialized Losses
From a review of the public record during his management of the private-equity firm Bain Capital from 1985 to 1999 is that Romney was fabulously successful in generating high returns for its investors. He did so, in large part, through heavy use of tax-deductible debt, usually to finance outsized dividends for the firm’s partners and investors. When some of the investments went bad, workers and creditors felt most of the pain. Romney privatized the gains and socialized the losses.
Excellent, Christi…a MUST READ! Thanks
Indeed!…the more I learn about this, the more I am sick to my stomach of how he made his fortune……
I know…and he seems so happy that he screwed so many…..
this is magnificent–it really breaks down the whole r-money style of making money, and then concludes that those skills are not the right ones for a president of the united states. no hedging, no ‘however’, no pandering to the right.
ChrisiMTL, thank you so much for sharing this eye opening article by Anthony L. Gardner. The headline says it all: “Romney’s Bain Yielded Private Gains, Socialized Losses.” Clearly, while Bain always made money from the companies they acquired, workers always shouldered the blunt of losses whenever the highly leveraged companies went bankrupt. The author called this “Casino Capitalism.” The question is: “Will the majority of Americans elect a President who believes in, and practices, “Casino Capitalism?”
Ha classic case of
The Rock Obama: SMASH!!
“The Barackness Monster” Prezzy of the United Steezy! :-D
Brawawaaa..The Skinny but he’s Tough Barackness Monkster!
Dick Durbin brings the scalded cat analogy:
“We need to get down to the bottom of why…is Mitt Romney running away from his company, Bain Capital, like a scaled cat,” Durbin said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“Because there is evidence that under Bain Capital, they were exporting American jobs to low wage companies and he doesn’t want to be associated with it,” Durbin said, answering his own question.

A little thought about the ‘retroactive retirement’. I think it makes perfect sense for someone like Willard to think in terms of doing things retroactively. Will we ever know just how many Haloucaust survivors he personally has baptized retroactively? I think the concept of retroactively ‘fixing’ things is an article of faith with this guy.
“I think the concept of retroactively ‘fixing’ things is an article of faith with this guy.” Makes sense to me. I wish you could deploy your writing skills to further explore this.. By the way, Tien Le, are you no longer writing for TPV? I miss your calm, disciplined and well informed, analytical mind.
Thank you, Nathan,
I’m still able to write for TPV. I just haven’t felt the urge to write lately. I’m hatching something about how to talk to family and friends about Republicans, but we are in the throes of a Primary election with consequences where I live. Maybe after that is done.
Josh Marshall Wants To Know
Tell me the subtext of these two ads talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2012/… via @TPM— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) July 16, 2012
What do you guys think?
imo the subtext of both ads is that decisions have consequences, and the voting decision has consequences.
Leadership strength, honor and guts, which are in plenty evidence with PBO and nowhere to be found in Mittens.
Why does he ask? He can’t figure it out or looking for a new story line? What is the subtext of Josh Marshall asking that?
One putting it all on the line for this country and the other trying to soak it for all it’s worth giving nothing in return ?
I’m still confounded as to why he asks that
I guess he has his own theories. Maybe came up in a discussion with someone he knows and wants to see what his readers/followers think.
Its just a question folks. Nothing underhanded about it. Josh asks and posts people’s opinions all the time.
thanks for answering. I went away for a bit and just returned to see your reply. I have read many of his columns but don’t ever remember seeing a post like this.
Again, thanks for clearing it up for me.
Yes, but Josh also has a tendency to behave like the HuffPost when it comes to President Obama. Why didn’t he come out and state his views like others did? I just don’t trust him! Just my two cents.
Josh has his moments but I trust him and his site way more than I do a lot of news folks. He actually loves the ad. So much so that they did several posts on it AND has a post up now about who created the ad. So that’s why I think there is nothing underhanded about his question.
@SenJohnMcCain's seen 23 yrs of Romney's taxes. So where's the ubiquitous Sun. talk show guest? Has he joined a witness protection program?— meta (@metaquest) July 16, 2012
hehehe the mittness protection program for sure
Bain will NOT go away. . .
Trumka is sometimes baffling-
Obama Tells Romney to Stop Whining
Romney is having trouble operating in the world of presidential electoral politics where declaring that voters don’t need to see his tax returns, and that he left Bain when he said he did, isn’t enough. Romney s acting like an insulated, spoiled rich boy who can’t handle not getting his own way.
The Romney campaign’s pathological demands for apologies and retractions show a campaign that can’t take a punch.
After Mitt Romney demanded an apology, the Obama the campaign told him to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. Romney has continued to moan and groan, so they are telling him to stop whining and start campaigning.
The Obama campaign is painting Romney as a soft, weak, whiner. A man who beneath all of the attacks he deploys is someone who can’t be trusted and lacks the strength to be president.
The Obama campaign isn’t painting Romney as a “soft, weak whiner”. Romney IS a soft, weak whiner – he’s painted a self-portrait.
correct, theo. and in the ‘reporting’ about r-money’s history at bain, i keep reading ‘the obama campaign contends….’ . actually, no, this info came from sec documents and clips of r-money speaking, and was then reported and published in the boston globe etcetc. it’s not a he-said thing. it’s a ‘face the truth’ thing.
Mitt’s Olympic bailout
By Chris Weigant
“Mitt Romney likes to brag about how he personally ‘saved’ the 2002 Olympics. But you know what actually saved the games? A federal bailout of 1.3 billion dollars. That’s right — Mitt got a gigantic ‘earmark’ from the American taxpayers so that Utah wouldn’t have any more egg on their face than they already had from the bribery scandal. Republican John McCain called this bailout a ‘ripoff of the taxpayers’ and a ‘national disgrace.’ Republican Rick Santorum went even further, saying during the primaries about Romney: ‘He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake Olympic games, in an earmark. Does the word hypocrisy come to mind?’ Those aren’t partisan remarks, mind you — merely what Mitt’s fellow Republicans have to say about how Mitt ‘saved’ the Olympics.”
New ads coming?
rubbing my hands together in glee!!
I hope it’s the one with McSame calling the bailout of the Winter Olympics outrages.
THIS…from this link…
“What I find interesting is that the more the public finds out about Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capital, the less they trust him on economic matters. He’s sinking in the polls on the economic trust issue, precisely because of financial shenanigans such as these. Romney says he left Bain in 1999, but for years afterwards he was listed as ‘chief executive officer and president’ of Bain. Either Mitt was misrepresenting himself by these titles, or he actually did Bain work for longer than he’s now admitting, or — even worse — he thinks that merely ‘phoning it in’ is acceptable behavior for a chief executive officer. That’s something American voters are going to be thinking about when we elect our own chief executive this fall. And the more the public hears about Bain, the less they trust Mitt Romney.”
Mitt’s Dancing Horse
I wonder how the media is going to cover Romney’s dancing horse at the Olympics. The dressage is right up there with the car elevators and the speed boat. It just plays into the wealthy 1% imagine.
gotta say this again: how about the dressage horse that went lame, so the robmes pumped it full of drugs and sold it, then when they were sued for fraud, they paid off the claimant? shouldn’t that get a mention during the olympics? seems to me that other athletes and teams that have evidence of doping are disqualified.
and please note, the vet, who has been the united states equestrian team vet since 1978, said in his 38 years of practice he has never come across a drug screen like this. the horse had a defect in his foot, and was drugged to hide its condition.
182 of President Obama’s Accomplishments! With Citations!
By Milt Shook
Now, let’s talk about President Obama…
If you’re one of those people who thinks President Obama is a “disappointment,” condolences for not getting your unicorn. And it’s time to grow up, get over it. We have four months to go before an election that will feature more political ads than you have ever seen before in your life. We’re not just having to beat Willard Romney; we also have to beat Citizens United. There will be TWO choices for president. You can either work for Obama and every other Democrat (yes, including Blue Dogs), or you can sit back and watch Willard Romney complete the job of taking apart the social fabric of the country that was begun by Ronald Reagan.
What makes the “disappointment” argument even more irritating is that it’s simply not true. He’s done nearly everything we elect a president to do, and he dd it all with little support from the left, and massive obstruction from the right. .
Is he perfect? No, he’s human. Does he deserve some criticism? At this point, it really doesn’t matter.
What does matter is that this president has compiled a STELLAR record. If you can look at this list of the president’s accomplishments after three years, and not be excited, you have a serious problem with perspective.
Pass this list around to everyone you know. And don’t be afraid; unlike many such lists, every item includes a link to a citation supporting it.
Love what he did…my other favorite is this from TPV:
Oh, I forgot about that one DF. Thanks for the reminder. I continue to be amazed at the brilliant writers on the internet. It’s just terrific to have these detailed posts to share with family and friends.
OBAMA’S TOP 50 ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO KEEP IN YOUR POCKET
Here’s another option. The biggest problem is that it does not have citations. But I really like the idea of being able to print it out for a handy reference. This would be a great handout at rallies and events.
LIST: Obama’s Top 50 Accomplishments
If you love the full list and you’d like to have a handy reminder, for the times you’re having one of THOSE discussions?
Click on the stack of wallet cards and you can download your own prinatable, wallet-sized folding card listing all 50 of President Obama’s first term accomplishments.
Print them as you need, laminate them, even give them away.
Just remember what Randi says: When they show you who they are? Believe them.
Why I support President Obama
I support him because he has faced constant, unrelenting, mean-spirited, dishonest criticism since before he took office and every day since. His patriotism has been questioned by every member of the right wing echo chamber especially FoxNews and Rush Limbaugh, every single day he has served. He has been called a socialist, communist, Nazi, Marxist, traitor, foreign, un-American, liar, magic negro, halfrican and worse. He has suffered innumerable lies about his ideology, religion, family and even his place of birth. No other president in the history of this country has faced such unfounded open hostility and disrespect. No other president has ever been called a liar by a member of congress during a State of the Union, no other president has had to show his birth certificate…repeatedly.
I support him because he has faced this unrelenting bitterness and undeserved hate with grace and honor, compassion and humility. His speeches still have the power to inspire and move me like no other politician in my lifetime. He renews my sense of pride in our country. I don’t wince when he speaks to foreign leaders, I am instead filled with admiration and proudly say, “That’s my president.” He engages his opponents with tact, respect and facts. His is not a world of “with us or against us” rather a world of optimism and hope that we can work together through our differences to make this country better.
I support him because he has aged 10 years in 3 because the job he faces every day has pressures and stress that the we will never come close to comprehending.
Much more here…..
This is a profound declaration.
This needs to be Tweeted and become trending and viral. Amazing proclamation of support for a once in a lifetime President. I stand with them!
You speak for a lot of us here and probably for all those that will re-elect him for President.
Mortos speaks for me!
I remember Mortos from my DU days..always a prolific reasoned writer. I see the comments were all positive too..except for one idiot who couldn’t stand PBO getting his due. Cue the tiny violin.

Halperin, Schieffer critical of appearance in Romney campaign ad
07/15/12 06:44 PM ET
The journalists are expressing discomfort with Romney’s campaign after their images and comments were used in an ad. …
Then, quit saying stupid shit! Hello?
LMAO! Serves them damn right! Excellent news for John McCain, who by the way has been completely MIA lately.
It’s the first time in 3.5 years McSamw has not been on a Sunday Show.
And if we figured it out, then so has the Obama Camp!
Methinks McSame is under gag order until Nov 7.
Good, we won’t see his mug for a couple of Sundays.
LMAO what now THEY’RE complaining? Gotta love the karma
Karma all around! It’s a beautiful thing. Sometimes the universe just takes care of itself…
Funny stuff…did you guys read Halperin comments?
”Barack Obama’s campaign and allies will run more negative ads against this Republican nominee than have ever been run in the history of the world.”
Ok that was in the ad….in the history of the world I tell you!!….he’s embarrassed because it makes him look so stupid, well he is but that’s not the point….it’s so over the top and false.
Halperin tweeted Sunday that he was uncomfortable with his image being used to back up a political point from the Romney campaign.
“To echo what NBC News’ Tom Brokaw said in January, when his image and voice were used in a Romney campaign TV ad, ‘I am extremely uncomfortable with the use of my personal image in this political ad. I do not want my role as a journalist compromised for political gain by any campaign,” Halperin said in a series of tweets.
Hahahha my role as a JOURNALIST…is that what he is?
Freaking Well Deserved KARMA. dick.
ROMNEY’S INCREDIBLE SHRINKING RESUME
1) Bain is Romney’s main calling card for being qualified to be the leader of the free world. But Bain’s mission really wasn’t job creation as he claims, it was maximizing profits for investors. And they were pioneers in outsourcing jobs over seas. There are real Americans who can attest to how painful plant closings and job layoffs impacted their lives. Clearly, Romney was trying to (gasp) retroactively change the facts to fit his desired narrative.
2) Romney’s record as governor of Massachusetts is so bad that he never even mentions it. It’s as if his governorship never happened.
3) Romneycare was the template for The Affordable Care Act so there is no mention of it on the campaign trail.
4) Romney supposedly saved the 2002 Winter Olympics. But was it really Romney or the government bailout that did the trick?
Mitt Romney’s pathological lying, secrecy and lack of transparency is becoming a real liability. His agenda is basically President Bush on steroids – no taxes and no regulations. So bottom line, Mitt Romney is counting on donations from Koch Brothers, NRA, Chamber of Commerce, Super Pacs, anonymous billionaires, Wall Street, Big Oil and bogus voter id laws that impact African Americans, Latinos, Students, Seniors and the poor to pull him over the finish line.
That’s the best over-all explanation of Mitt’s record.
willard mitt romney can be summed up in 4 words.. HECKLE JEKYLL, AND HIDE.
Another devastating article on Romney & Bain from Bloomberg. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-07-15/romney-s-bain-yielded-private-gains-socialized-losses.html
To clarify, this is the view of Anthony Gardner, but it’s still devastating.

Palin Hasn’t Received Invitation To 2012 RNC http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/report …
And she was the BIG STAR of the RNC convention last year…
Notice how generally silent the MSM is on this — yet it would be huge “breaking news” in the media if it were PBO not being invited to the DNC convention.
That won’t go over well with the Teabaggery.

Oh look! Now the GOP trolls have full and total control of MANBFOX. quelle surprise.

This can’t be good.
I hope all the liberals go to work for Current. It would be nice if Al Gore and Oprah combined their Networks.

Romney: Too Weak?
by David Frum
Marshall’s column is titled “Weak, weak, weak,” and it puts its finger on a core weakness of Romney as a candidate. It’s not just his arguments that are weak. For the past year, we have watched him be pushed around by the radical GOP fringe. He’s been forced to abjure his most important achievement as governor, his healthcare plan. In December, he was compelled to sign onto the Ryan budget plan after months of squirming to avoid it. Last fall he released an elaborate economic plan. On the eve of the Michigan primary, he ripped it up and instead accepted a huge new tax cut – to a top rate of 28% – that has never been costed (and that he now tries to avoid mentioning whenever he can). Romney has acknowledged in interviews that he understands that big rapid cuts in government spending could push the US economy back into recession. Yet he campaigns anyway on the Tea Party’s false promise that it’s the deficit that causes the depression, rather than (as he well knows) the other way around.
Say what? That was from David Frum? Someone please tweet that!
The comments on a couple of the blogs posted here and above are absolutely brutal. If such perceptions of Romney become widespread, I can’t see him being able to stay in this contest.
Willard is as weak as that bully barber from hell he was in prep school. He’s surrendered himself into putty so the tea bags can slap him around into any-thing they want. Severely CONservative..no problem. Go to NAACP and shit on their carpet..check….Heckle Jekyll and HIDE..that’s just the RF’s MO.
This is very perceptive by David Frum, who has lamented the takeover of the GOP by tea baggers.
For those who need to know “The Newsroom” is starting on HBO.
MUST SEE TV! Excellent show
I agree, been watching all along, & recording that other “Political Animal” just mentioned, to check it out. Anyone ever watch Homeland? Thought I’d record reruns & check it out.

Frightening must read.
Political Animals on USA channel. I was wondering, this whole Show seems a little Hillaryesque!
yep!! obvious rip-off of Hillary with a lot of poetic license in my opinion.
Watching it now. What a hoot!!!
the girl Former Mr. President was boning reminds me of Sophia Vergara.
Current President is dude from Heroes who could fly.
he seems so bland. wish they had been bold enough to make him not so blah. He looks like like a barely Hispanic version of The Boy Next Door. After PBO, I think any man playing president is just eh.
Gross!!! they used the most bland guy ever to play the president. yuck!!
Love The Newsroom. Now going into “Obama’s coming for your guns”——showing Palin and Glenn Beck with this scary warning. And now telling about Rush telling people to go out and buy guns. Telling truths about the NRA—–pushing all this junk—-trying to scare people— so that gun sales go up.
All kinds of untouchable truths being told on this program—–which are “real” news media would never touch.
Chuck Todd must be depressed. Normally he would tweet that the coming week is going to be “a very big week” but he hasn’t tweeted anything original since Wednesday and has only retweeted people’s stuff up to friday and then nothing all weekend. I guess morning Junk is in the same state of mind. Poor Chuck n Junk!!
When Mitt Romney was running for governor of Massachusetts a decade ago, Democrats went before a state commission to demand that he be struck from the ballot. Their argument: After taking over the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, he had ceased to live and work in Massachusetts, the state where he had built Bain Capital into one of the leading private equity firms in the world.
Everybody is writing articles about Bain.
my read of this article is that the nytimes is explaining away concerns over r-money’s convoluted ownership/non-ownership of bain between ’99 and 2002. seems they buy his explanations, due to their big business savvy.
Now going into the fake $200 million/day Obama to India story—-how drudge and Beck and FOX reported and promoted that story—–and then Michele Bachmann, “who has a difficult relationship with reality”, blabbed the lie all over the place. (Nailing everything—all the preposterousness on The Newsroom)
I can’t even talk about what just happened on the Newsroom. I fucking hate the NRA.
Quite a bit of biz travel until Friday, but I’ll do my best to keep up with all you great folk and our magnificent President

(Reuters) – The New York Post is seeking to keep its top editor from having to answer questions in a bias lawsuit about his discussions with media mogul Rupert Murdoch over a published cartoon that appeared to liken President Barack Obama to a chimpanzee.
Calling the February 2009 cartoon “quintessential political speech entitled to the strongest protections of the First Amendment,” the newspaper in a court filing late Friday night also said the discussions were irrelevant to the lawsuit brought by Sandra Guzman, a former associate editor.
In November 2009, Guzman, who is black and Puerto Rican, sued the Post, its editor Col Allan and its parent News Corp for alleged discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, gender and national origin, saying she had been fired in retaliation for complaints over inappropriate conduct.
She also claimed to have objected to the cartoon, which referred to the $787 billion federal economic stimulus and depicted a policeman shooting a crazed chimpanzee, a reference to an actual incident in Connecticut.
