R-money leaves on his bus tour on Saturday, ends it in Ohio on Tuesday. No doubt he’ll annoint Rob “Bush 43 Budget Director” Portman as VP candidate to great MSM fanfare. Media will be thrilled they have actual news to report, instead of their endless speculation. And then the GOP convention. So MSM should be pretty much ignored until after Labor Day.
But get this. Congress will “work” for only 13 days between now and the November election. And we pay these layabouts?

Asked Monday if Reid had been in touch with his source and if the man was willing to go public with evidence, Reid turned the question back on Romney.
“This whole issue is not about me,” Reid said at a news conference after he helped dedicate a new VA hospital in Southern Nevada.
Reid noted Romney’s father, George, had released 12 years of tax returns when he ran for president in 1968. And he added that Mitt Romney has released only one full year return, which Reid said showed he had overseas bank accounts in the Bahamas and Switzerland, raising questions about what Romney is trying to hide.
“The whole controversy would end very quickly if he would just release his income tax returns just like everybody else that runs for president,” Reid said.
Asked a second time whether Reid’s source would come forward, the senator snapped, “I’ve answered your question.”

Mullings Family to Donate Birthday Card for Jamaica’s 50th Year of Independence, Signed by President Barack Obama

University of Miami alumnus David Mullings, Chairman and CEO of Keystone Augusta, his wife, Kathryn, a University of Tampa graduate, and their 6-month old son Luke, had the opportunity to meet and take photos with President Barack Obama in Orlando, Florida, after his recent speech at Rollins College.
They took photos with President Obama, also taking the opportunity to give him a Jamaica50 pin of pride as a birthday present. President Obama turned 51 on August 4th and Jamaica celebrates 50 years of Independence on August 6th. Kathryn, a graphic designer and Chief Creative Officer of Kaizen Interactive, created a birthday card for Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence and President Obama signed it.
“We decided that if he did sign it then we would donate the card to the Institute of Jamaica so that it would be in a museum where every Jamaican in the world would have the chance to see it. Some things are more valuable when they are shared,” said David Mullings.
It was David’s idea to create the card after receiving confirmation last weekend that they would get to take photos with President Obama. Kathryn obliged and agreed that they should share it instead of keeping it in a private collection.
“As Jamaicans who have benefitted tremendously from the US system we could not pass up the opportunity to bridge the two countries. The timing is simply perfect,” said Kathryn Mullings.
The Mullings Family will make arrangements to hand over the signed card to Jamaica and a replica will also be handed over to the Consul General at the Official Jamaica50 Gala in Miami on August 18. President Obama is also sending a Presidential Delegation to Kingston, Jamaica to attend the celebration marking the 50th Independence Anniversary. The Honorable General Colin L. Powell, USA (Retired), Former U.S. Secretary of State, will lead the delegation. Other members include the Honorable Pamela Bridgewater, U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica and the Honorable Yvette Clarke, U.S. House of Representatives, New York.

About those fundraising numbers…from DK….but he does have a point…
Making matters worse (for Mitt), it turns out that the type of money Romney is raising is less useful than the type of money President Obama is raising. The reason for this is the fundraising totals announced by Romney and Obama include fundraising not just for their campaigns but also for their party committees. They can coordinate up to $21 million in spending with their party committees, but the rest needs to be managed by an independent expenditure committee with which they cannot legally coordinate. Moreover, that independent expenditure committee cannot take advantage of lower ad rates available to candidates.
Donors can only give up to $5,000 directly to Romney’s campaign, but they can give up to $75,000 to the campaign plus the party committees. Romney’s fundraising advantage over Obama comes entirely from these mega donations. In June, for example, Romney raised just $33 million of his $106 million directly for his campaign—$73 million went to Republican Party committees. Obama, meanwhile, raised $46 million of his $71 million total directly for his campaign.
Neither Obama nor Romney have said exactly how much each committee raised in July, but based on last month’s totals, I would guess that Obama raised nearly $50 million directly for his campaign and Romney raised about $37 or $38 million. The bottom line is that in July, Romney did outraise Obama—but it’s actually not as bad a situation as the $26 million gap would suggest.
Moreover, President Obama actually grew his fundraising total by $4 million while Romney’s shrank by $5 million. The reason: Obama is fundraising from a bigger pool of smaller donors. As we get closer to the election, his fundraising will accelerate. Romney’s fundraising, on the other hand, will continue to decelerate unless he somehow figures out how to excite small donors. For a guy like Mitt Romney, that’s going to be very difficult, especially as it becomes more and more clear that President Obama is the odds-on favorite to win in November.

Beginning Saturday, Romney’s bus tour will take him to Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and then Ohio on Tuesday. No specific locations were announced, but it is believed Romney’s Ohio stops could include Chillicothe and potentially portions of eastern Ohio.

though, because what I learned from 2008 is that this is the DNC/OFA ‘s way of ‘cleaning’ up the
many phone lists that they have. All the incorrect numbers and addresses will be updated for

Taxes, Mitt Didn’t Pay That.
The Republican National Committee has accused David Axelrod of being the anonymous source behind Harry Reid’s accusation that Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years.
The theory, which was posited by RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer, rests on the assumption that Reid made the charge — during an interview with The Huffington Post — just hours after the Obama campaign’s communications chief visited the Senate Democratic caucus.
“You’ve got to wonder if the so-called source is Axelrod himself,” Spicer told CNN. “Hours after meeting with Axelrod, Reid comes out and makes baseless accusations?”
There are multiple problems with this. For one, Reid sources his claim about Romney to an anonymous Bain investor. And Axelrod, while many things, is not a Bain investor. Secondly, Axelrod himself denied the accusation in a statement to CNN.
But the most obvious reason Spicer is wrong is that Reid actually made the remarks about Romney’s taxes the Thursday prior to Axelrod’s visit.
The Huffington Post would know: We went to his office on Capitol Hill to do the interview the morning after the Senate passed a bill to extend the Bush tax cuts for incomes below $250,000. We wrote two other stories based off of that interview in the aftermath. The piece about Reid’s claims regarding Romney’s tax returns, however, was not written until later.
Indeed, one of the authors, Ryan Grim, could not have been at the Capitol interviewing Reid on Tuesday, as he was comfortably in a hammock, half-drunk on margaritas, in West Virginia.
“It was,” Grim told The Huffington Post, “my most prolific vacation.”

Notice that Romney NEVER ever shows pics of his grassroots effort? It’s always some media outlet that’s reporting on how great his campaign is doing, but nothing is never verified with pictures or tweets in real time.
Someone (forgot who) was reporting in Colorado at the end of last week while Romney was campaigning there. The campaign was upbeat with the opening of a district office in Lakewood. Yippee, high ho! Their slant on it. Said they were out registering people and every time they succeeded, they rang a bell. How many of you on here are out doing that everyday without any fanfare.
The Obama campaign also has a district office in Lakewood. Reporter visited and said the place was bustling (no bells or whistles though). The Obama campaign has 32 offices in Colorado. This was about 12 now open or opening for Romney. Romney has 250 throughout the US. Obama campaign just said they have hundreds of offices open. More interested in results than numbers.
They just strike me as so juvenile. Like their honking buses at events and blowing bubbles in Massachusetts at Axelrod’s press conference. I don’t think they have a clue about what they are really up against.
