Morning everyone, will catch up later with the news – chat away ;-)
Not too late?
Good Morning, EVERYONE!
GM PBO. It’s another day to #PRESSON, Mr. President!
Yea! Nice job, vc:) !!
Mornin’ and congrats vc.
Almost, but congrats, VC!!
Morning Africa, we seem to have broached the threshold together – I appreciate the company!  Have a good day!
Good morning Chips & TOD
Hi Symmetry! Seeing you always brings a smile to my face as I remember your birthday ‘artistry’. Enjoy your Wednesday.
Good morning VC! You have a wonderful day as well. :)
G’morning symmetry and happy Wednesday :)
Hello stranger. Hope you are doing well. How’s your Mom? Are you going to the Truman Day dinner?
Good morning tnmtngirl….Mom is doing ok. She has some nerve damage from her surgery last year, so she is a bit frustrated.
Going home to make phone calls for OFA when I get off tonight. I need to make about 50 calls. I am going to the Truman Day dinner. What about you?
I am going. Am actually helping. Janice and I will be there at 4:30. Had planned to help with the flowers, but they made other arrangements which was fine with me. :) See you there.
This will be my first time going. Did you hear about the Democrat that the State Dems ran against Corker? That was ridiculous. Did they not do a back ground check?
My first time also. Yes, have read quite a bit about the guy. Also heard on Rachel last week that there’s thinking there may have been hanky panky w/the Republicans getting him on the ballot and then elected. The D party is working to try to get him off the ballot and push a write-in campaign…….for anyone but him……whoever people want to write-in, but probably encourage Park.
I read all of the Democrats were no names and not serious candidates. The winner’s name was the first on the ballot and won because of Democrats voting for party but not knowing any of the candidates. For all practical purposes Corker is running unopposed.
Is this going to be a weakness going forward, where we encourage Dems to vote a full dems ticket but those behind the scenes haven’t ensured that all dem candidates running are legit? I sure hope not.
In 2010 there was some scheming going on in the GOP about choosing the Dem candidate that would run against their candidate in some Eastern state. I remember since their candidate ran unopposed many changed parties for the Primary to vote in the least desirable Dem. There were many in the Primary so the vote was pretty well split. The extra GOP voters put the guy over the top assuring their GOP incumbent would win. I am afraid games, strategies, and cheating are becoming more routine in the Republican party.
I don’t understand why said democrats don’t take the time to find out about all the candidates?? I will never just vote for someone just because they have a “d” behind their name. Makes no sense.
Morning HF! :)
Wow, Mitt just flat out lies. I like the Dubious Ad.
Me too! It pushes back on the Republican lies.
I wonder if this Ad is on TV. Can you imagine if the president was lying on Mitt; the scathing rebuke
Good Morning Chips, TOD, everyone, and congratulations vc on #1!
Qunni- panic says Robney is up 5 in Colorado!
Where are the Hispanics?
PPP yesterday had the President up 6 in that state. That is an 11 point difference in the same time for polling!
Is this not strange?
Quinni-panic is in PANIC MODE. That’s what’s going on.
Hahahahahaha……ain’t that the truth.
When Pres. Obama is leading in Rasmussen polls; RASMUSSEN!!!!! GOP shills extraordinaire…..then it’s all good.
Can’t find it right now, but dKos had a breakdown of this poll which was ridiculously weighted toward older voters and not reflective of the anything close to the 2008 voting model. It’s total b.s.
Here’s the must-read on this poll:
May's data showed 3.5 unemployed workers for every job opening, down from recession peak of 6.5 people per opening— West Wing Reports (@WestWingReport) August 08, 2012
May God continue to bless and protect our wonderful First Family.
In jesu Name amen
In Jesus Name amen
Oh, I know why Quinni Panic said Robney is up 5 in Colorado?
Because the President is going there today and this poll is the RNC response!
Yes and I think it’s also a response to the PPP polls showing PBO up in Colorado by 6 pts.
But Jovie…Mittens NEEDS to win all three states (CO, VA, and WI) to get elected…PBO doesn’t.
Don’t freak out on one poll—-there are hundreds of them—or seem like it. And there will be variations—–who was contacted at that moment in time, their particular crosstabs, which they also vary. Best to look at the overall picture.
dKos has a fantastic breakdown of this poll. It was weighted to heavily to older voters, in complete contrast to the 2008 voter models.
Ignore it completely. It’s not a measure of anything.
Except that the campaign had better get to work at narrowing the gap with seniors.
Here’s the link:
Good morning Chips and TOD ohana. Go USA!
Morning all…party is over for me now…back to work. So many irons on the fire, work, voter reg, family…OFA stuff…so it’s catch as catch can for me now….who thought I would ever qualify as a “lurker”! Hope that Chips can bring a clip of PBO in CO today so I can watch later…(thank you, Chips…ahead of time) Hope everyone has a wonderful hump day….
I thought the Bain ads weren’t working?
According to the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, 40 percent of Americans hold a favorable view of Romney — virtually identical to the 41 percent high-water mark that his favorability rating reached in the ABC/WaPo survey from late May. Compounding matters for the presumptive Republican nominee: the percentage of the public who view him unfavorably has jumped from 45 percent to 49 percent. Romney’s standing is even lower among independents, with only 37 percent of the bellwether voting bloc viewing him favorably compared with 50 percent who view him unfavorably.
I saw Robert Gibbs on Morning Joe and he batted down everything that Joe said, easily won that debate.
Joe keeps saying, that Robert Gibbs said nothing and both candidates suck!
No! Gibbs did great, Joe is lying!
Joes big thing every morning is conflating the President into the same category as Robney. He says, no difference, exactly the same.
Nah! Gibbs said the differences very clearly, Joe dismissed them!
Joe S. said he liked his ol’ pal, Gibbsy, but said he talked in platitudes the whole show, he didn’t say anything meaningful about President Obama’s goals, he learned nothing. That program is a study in Bullying 101. It’s revolting.
Then they brought on an “objective” observer from The Hill who said House Repubs love Willard and are working closely with him and House Dems don’t like Obama and won’t work with him. He said one Dem said, about Obama, “I can’t stand him.” Scarborough loved that comment.” The Hill guy will be invited back!!!
I tell mr. dotster—–I can’t gut this show first thing in the morning—-switcheroo please.
I can’t get through a segment anymore. I tried this morning, but Mika started talking over Gibbs so I just turned it off.
How do you do it? I can’t stand to look at morning joke.
Morning Joker has serious issues.
Mittiful is pitiful.
Mitt is shit.
Mitt is unfit.
Also a twit. Too.
Good morning Chips and TOD. Here’s hoping for another good news day for our President. He can win on the merits but I worry about voter turnout and suppression, and the big money.
Morning Jackie4O, thanking you, Df, & Hf for the good wishes above. Just wanted to let you know (nudge. nudge. wink. wink) that you haven’t posted the candle link in a month of Sundays. ;) ;) Wonderful Wednesday Wishes coming your way!
Joe’s sole agenda is being a New York media celebrity. He has no core and has the same character as Willard. It is hilarious he portrays himself as good ol’ boy Mr. Florida Panhandle but now vacations on Nantucket and goes on and on about the Boston Red Sox. With his bullying and ranting he is the most disgusting pundit on teevee.
Seriously! His whole Schtick is both sides suck and they say nothing, now vote for Robney.
And Mika with Her, yes, and Ya. It’s all She says!
Anecdotal evidence is limited, but I know a woman, not so bright and a former PBO supporter, who says she has been swayed by Morning Joe and now supports Willard. I do not think Joe sways many, but he does have an effect with a few morons.
Luckily, his ratings suck!
Must see, and I’m not kidding, of Colbert laying bare the crazy that is Rep. Steve King——-it’s another super genius gem from Colbert—-also hilarious to the max. And please, Christie Vilsack, rid us of this nuttiest of crazy nutballs, Iowa’s shame, Steve King, in Nov.
He mauled that thuggish fucker. I am really astounded that for a supposedly ‘most developed nation’, there are so many rabid dogs running around and running the country.
I remember that in the previous election, a (IOWA) female voter explained that the state’s name was actually an acronym for: Idiots Openly Walking Around.
#RomneyHood Where the absence of a lapel pin means you're unpatriotic but parking you money offshore isn't. "♫ My country 'tis of thee…♫"— TrumpDog (@TrumpDog1) August 08, 2012
That was America the Beautiful, Trumpdog. But thanks for reminding me. I’ve got to hear a rendition of it sung ON KEY before I’ll get Mitt’s out of my head. That was truly awful.
Nefarious Newt on Mittens:
I know what Romney’s problem is: he doesn’t understand what the Internet is.
He doesn’t realize that everything he’s said and done in his career is archived somewhere, in a database.
He doesn’t understand that what he has said, his televised bits, his missives to newspapers, all that stuff, is probably accessible via the Web to some degree.
He doesn’t understand that within minutes, people can compare what he just said to what he has said over the entire breadth of his career.
He doesn’t seem to understand that people who know him — or knew him — have access to the Internet and can put forth more information about him.
He’s running a campaign like’s he’s whistle-stopping ahead of the press and they can’t keep up with him. He acts like in order to find anything out, you have to go to the library and thumb through dusty tomes.
Mitt Romney is a Tammany Hall politician in an instantaneous communication age. And he’s getting burned.
This is from the comments section of Joe Klein’s “Another Bad Day for Romney” (the piece is excellent and the comments section is very intelligent as well, despite some stormfront/anti-PBO trolling):
This might not be so well known in the US, but Europe learned about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln *five days* after it happened. And that was a day faster than it would have taken just a decade before, because Reuters had started operating a telegraph line from Ireland (where the postal boat arrived) to the continent.
Fascinating. We’ve come a long way, baby.
Excellent Expose of Willard the millions of bridges BURNER. Course, a lot of the pre$$ act like they can’t keep up. Should be put out to pasture.
Good morning, TOD! Rep Gerald Connolly (D / VA-11) is on C-SPAN. Kicking butt with his answers.
He is a smart guy. He worked on the Hill as a staffer for years before running for office.
Some of the staffers are better at politics than the politicians for whom they work!
Probably most of them. I remember a number of years ago reading about an unnamed U.S. Senator picking up a Washington Post every morning and promptly throwing everything away but the sports page.
Ha. And he or she probably needed the sports page for the bird cage.

Afghanistan civilian casualties fall, says UN
Latest UN figures in Afghanistan show that civilian casualties have fallen for the first time in five years.
Mitt really charmed ‘em here in Iowa last night, at a fundraiser in West Des Moines. For some reason, they gave him $1.8 M, though. His comments: “You wouldn’t have written a check because the hors d’oeuvres weren’t that good. I mean they’re very good but they’re not good enough to pay what you paid,” he told the guests at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines. “I mean they’re like $100 apiece for a little piece of cheese or whatever. You’re not doing it for me, you’re not doing it for the party, you’re doing it for the country.”
He also bolstered everyone’s low spirits about the worst drought we’re experiencing since the 30’s: “I’m a little concerned about the drought, though, I mean how are you guys doing? Are you going to be all right?” he said. “We’re hopefully going to see help here and maybe some better weather, but we’re counting on people doing their best to make it through some very difficult times.” DUHHHHHHHHHHHH.
The one quote I really did like, though: “Oh, I’m going to miss the State Fair, and that butter cow, I tell you,” he said. YESSSSSSSSSSSS! Remember, at last year’s Iowa State Fair we got the memorable: “Corporations are people, my friend”.
All his comments are just pathetic. Those attendees have to really be lying to themselves if they dare say they were impressed with this banter and this hollow, clueless person. And was that before or after he referred to the shooting at the Sikh temple as the Sheik Temple and the victims as the Sheik people?
I missed that. He did? We’ve really got to put that dawg on top of somebody’s car and drive him out of Dodge! When the heck will election day get here?
More of “you can’t make this stuff up” http://www.businessinsider.com/romneys-dad-had-free-mcdonalds-for-life-card-2012-8
LOOK! MORE FREE STUFF!!
Romney Probably Shouldn’t Talk About His Dad’s Free-McDonald’s-For-Life Card
Already seen as a wealthy elite, Mitt Romney probably shouldn’t brag about the special privelege granted to his dad by Ray Kroc himself.
But that’s what he did at a Chicago fundraiser, according to ABC News’ Amy Walter and Emily Friedman:
“You know how boys liked to go through their dad’s top drawer, just to sort of see what he has in there, maybe find an old coin he might not miss or whatever, ” Romney told a group of donors at a Chicago fundraiser this afternoon.
“I found a little paper card, a little pink card, and it said this entitles George W. Romney to a lifetime of a hamburger, a shake and French fries at McDonald’s. It was signed by the hand of Ray Kroc. My dad had done a little training lesson or whatever for McDonald’s when there was just a handful of restaurants and I saw this thing and was like, ‘This is a gold mine, Dad! What are you doing?’ So I had it laminated. My dad, as you know, would go almost every day to a McDonald’s restaurant and get either a hamburger or a fish filet sandwich. And he would present this little card and of course the person behind the counter would look and say, ‘Well, what is that?’ They’d never seen something like that, but he said it was never turned down. They always honored it.”
Did he really say that – I can’t imagine going through my parents private belongings without permission – let alone taking “an old coin he might not miss”. From someone who probably saw more money in a week than the kids in my family saw in a year! He has NO idea of how normal folks live and talk – absolutely none.
Yeah, so he’s a proud boy thief on top of everything else. And somehow a multi-millionaire bragging about not having to pay for a McDonald’s meal is just TRASH.
I agree with all of you. Too bad Robme (or Robdad, as the case may be) never learned anything from his father.
I thought in the article Mitt mentioned he was in his late teens or early 20’s – isn’t that a little old to be going through your parents’ drawers looking for coins or whatever might be there? He was probably looking for bigger booty.
lol…at that age he wasn’t looking for any coins. He was looking for the Playboy magazines.
I was just going to write that, since I’m Robdad’s age and that’s what everybody was looking for in the drawer back then. Ha!
LOL…..Especially teenage boys.
Yep. But I remember being over my friend’s house as a teenager and she showed me her dad’s Playboy magazine, and we both said “Tsk Tsk” all over the place. Then we read the articles. LOL.
IMO this is a beautiful example of why I always say let Willard talk, don’t filter him! When Willard is ‘relaxed’ and speaking to his followers he invariably shows who he truly is, and it is never ‘pretty’. In addition to the quotes cited above did you notice his response to finding the card? ‘This is a gold mine, Dad!… I also note that even though his dad may have been wealthy at the time, he made sure to go get his daily freebie. A more principled person might have refrained after using it once or twice. Of course, I’m reminded of a thought heard in my youth – that rich people remain rich because they are mean thrifty.
So what was the moral of Romney’s story? Is it that Rich people get to eat free but the poor and the unemployed who receive food stamps are lazy and useless?
This is Robert Gibbs’s appearance on Morning Joe. It was pretty good.
Yes! He did good against a Morning Joe Crew of Hacks!
Does the Morning Joe crew ever go after Willard’s ads?
I no longer watch him, but I’ll give ya an answer: No.
Here’s a tweet to help spread Elizabeth Banks’ message
GOP hurt 95% PP users b/c hate 5% of its outreach, sabotage jobs 2 KILL 1 MAN’S JOB! This is NOT ‘leadership’! VOTE! youtube.com/watch?v=rYCE8N…— Vick C. (@sonamie) August 08, 2012
At an election party last night, Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County GOP Chair, Jim Roddey, brought the crowd to laughter and applause by calling an Obama supporter “mentally retarded.” Roddey, who is a long-time supporter of Mitt Romney, told the joke to a crowd of about 200: “I was very embarrassed. I was in this parking lot and there was a man looking for a space to park, and I found a space for him. And I felt badly — he looked like he was sort of in distress. And I said, ‘Sir, here’s a place.’ And he said, ‘That’s a handicapped space.’ I said, ‘Oh I’m so sorry, I saw that Obama sticker and I thought you were mentally retarded.’”
These people are terrible.
Amazing! Republican are so good at projecting. So this moron thinks he is smart by calling people with disabilities mentally retarded? I bet that went over well with many seniors with physical problems who park in handicapped spaces.
Claire McCaskell can be problematic, but she is light years better than this asshole.
thinkprogress Rep. Todd Akin, the GOP’s new Senate candidate in Missouri says “the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God” thkpr.gs/NcTD7f

Missouri has two great cities and great universities. Why would they wish to elect a 65 years of age Bible thumper to be a freshman Senator?
Maybe Todd Akin would like to read the Bible and what Jesus said and preached and asked of his followers.
I’m Jewish and I know more about Jesus’ teachings than these Christianist haters.
I guess he felt that only Jesus and “mircles from God” should save the sick and infirmed…..giving everyone healthcare to stay healthy is against Gods work…until someone in their family gets sick and needs modern medicine of course.
Astounding, isn’t it?
Mitt just starting a campaign event in a school auditorium with no A/C. Someone tweeted there’s lots of seats still available:
Speeches just starting at #romneyia event. Still seats available of you can make it! http://t.co/TpMg9yrg— Progress Iowa (@ProgressIowa) August 08, 2012
This will definitely not be the case when PBO and FLOTUS come to Iowa next week.
muscatinegal, I believe you there. I am looking forward to POTUS and FLOTUS campaigning in Iowa together.
Funny that Richie Mitt would agree to speak where there’s no A/C. I’m guessing he has trained himself not to sweat like a normal guy.
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/08/08/republicans_split_over_prospect_of_ryan_as_veep.html Bring It!
What a great response to that lying RomneyHood? Will that ad be on tv in the battleground? I hope it will.
I meant to say will it be on tv in the battleground states, like North Carolina. This shows RomneyHood for what he really is, a lying person who will do and say anything, even flat out lie. Use race baiting.
Here’s a request I put on Maddowblog a couple of days ago. If something like this interests/seems politically helpful to you, would you also drop Rachel a line to encourage her to do such a segment on PBO?
“@maddowblog.msnbc.com: Rachel did a very good segment recently on the ‘consistency’ of Mitt Romney and Eric Fehrnstrom showing how they have lied their way across the years. I wonder if she would also consider doing a segment on the consistency of President Obama and the positions he has held. Here’s a head start video from 2007. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buRLLovgGwM “
Heaven forbid they should have a smart person in that party….
The debate over if they should have the Tundra Twit speak at their convention is hilarious. Tweety had a good closng segment on that tpoic last night.
My guess is The Robmehood crew will make the wrong calculation and NOT let her speak and that will infuriate the Wasilla Hillbully and she’ll go ROUGE on their asses. :) :) :) I won’t watch but I look forward to hearing the reports from those here that can stomach watching the RNConvicts convention.
“Mitt is a product not only of his wealth, but of an organization that gives men power when they are 12 years old,” she says. …
As for what pundits say is Romney’s difficulty connecting with people, Emmett blames it largely on what she calls “the entitled Mormon male syndrome, where the leadership professes compassion and concern but leaves the manifestations of that to the drones.”
Emmett says Romney was a bishop, “a position where everyone defers to you. What a bishop says goes. People come to them to receive blessings.” He then became a stake president, she says, which means he presided over several congregations, and at that point bishops deferred to him.
“Mitt has had people defer to him and not challenge him his entire life,” says Emmett. “In the Mormon church if you challenge your priesthood leaders it’s a very bad thing to do, especially for women. As the world can now see, Mitt has a very hard time with being questioned and criticized; he’s had so little of this in his life.”
And this: Emmett says she thinks Romney’s biggest fault is that he has a “serious problem telling the truth. There is flip-flopping, which he has done more than any politician in modern history, and then there is out and out lying,” she says. “This kind of thing has sadly been a part of the church from the very beginning. Some modern apostles actually taught that it is not always the best thing to tell the truth if it interferes with preaching gospel.”
The story from Daily Beast: Explains a lot.
So, are the 10 commandments not featured in the bible they use?
I know RomneyHood pays no attention to “Thou shall not lie.”
Or “Thou shall not covet a job thou are not qualified for.”
Mitt “clarifies” his Midwestern drought position: http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/08/08/romney-tells-iowans-hes-concerned-about-the-drought-and-looking-for-ways-to-help/
“We’re cognizant of the fact that across the country the impact of the drought and are concerned about what this is doing in the agriculture community and other in various industries and employers that rely on agriculture,” the GOP presidential candidate said at an early-morning rally at a downtown Des Moines school.
“And (we’re) looking for ways to help the farmers and those that are going to be most affected by the drought. We’re looking for more rain.”
???? That first sentence was positively Palin-esque.
I couldn’t get past “his Midwestern drought position.” He has a position on an issue? Wow.
The only position I’ve ever seen him in is the LOSER position.
Is this place TOD or the Morning Joke wrap-up report? Most people here have moved beyond watching that crap years ago. Why some insist on coming here every single day to practically live blog that garbage is highly suspect in my eyes. Every morning, Scarborough’s name is this thread almost as much as the Presidents. It’s a turnoff to the point where I dread coming to the rise and shine thread.
It is helpful to many to know what is being said by the MSM. Robert Gibbs, his guest this morning, is a major player in the PBO campaign. If you dread coming to the “rise and shine thread” maybe don’t come to it.
There is nothing at all helpful about hearing the same b.s. day in and day out. How many more times do we have to hear that Morning Murderer’s saying that POTUS and Romney are both awful. That’s his m.o. and he’s always done that. He did it yesterday, he’ll do it tomorrow, and he’ll do it in October. We already know this. There are prominent right wingers out there who’s m.o. is to convince the world that Malcolm X is the real father of the president. Should people post things from those sites all morning as well? No.
That is your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it. Just like we are entitled to ours.
The thing is, the media has been God awful, and most People that have Twitter access, like the Reports so they can hit back.
It’s an election with three months away, and MSNBC is the only channel that can be fair! I don’t think it’s that difficult to understand the concerns of Morning Jie Propaganda!
Good morning all.
I tend to agree with you. I just skip over the Morning Joke comments. In fact, I’ll skip over most negative comments. I know what the Rethugs are saying. It is helpful to comment on their lying ads that are TV, IMO. I do believe we need to counter these lying ads – big time. I was livid at the “welfare” aka Reagan’s “welfare queen” ad (no difference). But this garbage that’s on TV everyday is not interesting to me. I love coming to this site so I just skip over whatever I don’t want to read. I don’t think you have to stop coming to a particular thread, just don’t read what you don’t want to read.
I guess that’s the best strategy. Thanks.
I’d love to never have to hear about Joe Scarborough again. I understand why people feel the need to rehash his constant stream of BS babble but seriously, it never changes and every day we give him so much power. I’ve never watched that show but I get it. I can read about it all over twitter, here and everywhere else. It’s the same stupid moronic drivel every single day. I get it. It makes me sick. Is that the point of recycling everything he says? So if we could have a break every now and then, that would be terrific.
Maybe it is not helpful for you to know what is being said by the MSM, but that does not mean it is not to others. It is a bit rude to declare oneself the arbitrator of what should be or should not be discussed by others.
Bill, please don’t take it personally. This is a battle I’ve seen again and again. It happened at the OFA board, it happened on every political board I’ve ever been on. It’s not the case that we don’t want to hear what the MSM is saying, it’s just that it never changes from Scarborough. For me, it’s like posting Drudge headlines every day. We know he’s an idiot and he hates the President and he works at demoralizing Dems every day. It’s just something we’ll all have to agree to disagree on.
This is true! Some love purity, that is not to say they don’t have a point, and so do we!
Coexist is in the Constitution, and we seem to be having a problem with that, not just on this blog, but in the Nation!
What do you mean by purity?
That’s my point! I said a lot, and you picked out that phrase!
It’s an honest question, Jovie. I’m not trying to pick a fight. Please answer the question.
BS jovie. You throw that word a lot around here. So now explain it before we get to what ‘said a lot’.
In what metrics does moaning joe qualify as msm? His audience numbers ? Or his ability to swing people’s minds and votes ? Really ?
This blog is about getting PBO elected. Not about what the proven rw nincompoop blathers everyday on teh teevee . If you want, you can read chips How do I comment here in the RHS.
This really isn’t the place for you…..
(2) If all you intend bringing here is a whole heap of RW/Firebagger talking points designed to put a negative spin on every single piece of PBO-related news, no matter how encouraging it actually is.
You said below
“It is a bit rude to declare oneself the arbitrator of what should be or should not be discussed by others.”
And ” If you dread coming to the “rise and shine thread” maybe don’t come to it.” too sounds rude to me.
The above for bill.
I have seen everybody, including you, bring negative tweeds to this blog and show us how you or someone else is hitting back.
This happens all the time, sometimes, this place turns into a twitter battle between said poster and done rightie!
So, it could be said, everybody is guilty.
Soon, if all this is enforced, we will only be able to discuss the Sky is blue and the grass us green!
It’s a democratic blog, if we cannot discuss different ads on tv, what the MSM us saying about them and what one of our surrogates say on tv, then it’s lost it’s whole IDEA!
If I bring the negative tweets at all here, it was a followup tweet who debunked it. We can discuss all negative and lying ads if we do the proper debunking too. You are mostly on hair-on-fire how this is looking bad for Obama.
Itgurl said she dreaded coming here in the morning. I was only commenting on her self described dread. So you are telling me “This really isn’t the place for you”? So are you the arbitrator of who should be on TOD? I am not the only that has commented on Morning Joe. Are you banning them also?
Nice try. You are the one that stated that itgurl shouldn’t come into rise and shine. I only posted what is chips’ policy here. May be you should read it again.
I suggested it if she dreaded coming here, “maybe”. I did not state it.
Well, you shouldn’t have. And yes, moaning joke doesn’t deserve a discussion here.
Should you be telling people this is not the place for them?
Again, read chips’ policy. I won’t respond any more to silly butt hurts.
Good morning TOD. Itgurl_29 I agree with you. I have not seen morning joke’s face for over 2 years now. I made it my duty to be up each Sunday morning to watch as many of the shows as I could once i saw that they found fault with everything PBO did I found better things to do with my time. I am not interested in them at all and don’t visit the websites like huffin puffin either. Positives all the way for me. Thanks to Miss Chips.
Ok that’s fair that you’d prefer not to read about The Joke. I watch that and many other shows like his. On occasion, when there are surrogates from the Obama campaign, who do a stand up job, I will post a kudos. I don’t post the negative stuff that these shows constantly have going for the sole purpose of riling up the masses. You couldn’t imagine how many house shoes that I’ve thrown at the TV set. However, I recognize that it serves no purpose for me feedi the frenzy that those type shows produce by bringing it here. However, as I’ve said before, reading/listening to anything is strictly voluntary. I’m guilty myself of not just scrollin’ and a’rolling past the stuff that doesn’t suit my fancy. I look forward to reading your posts on rise and shine.
Preach. I don’t think I’ll ever understand the need to repeatedly re-hash and elevate the pontifications of these talking heads, so I just scroll on by.
I’ve seen wonderful, positive events or speeches by the President followed by comments by people who went and sought out the most obscure negative feedback on the internet and then brought it back here to “share.” LOL. I guess they just can’t help themselves and are drawn like a moth to a flame by negativity.
So, again, I just scroll on by, or don’t even read the comments altogether….
So, then you will tell Hopefruit and UT the same thing, because they are always hitting back at these fools on tv or the twitter and then they bring it here!
Or, maybe it’s just that you don’t like the messenger?
LOL is right!
No jovie. They debunk what the msm asshats are saying with logic and citation. You mostly freak out.
How do you know everybody wants to hear what is going on in twitter negative conversations and then bring it here.
Personally, I like hearing about what is being said and how they hit back, just seems like a double standard.
That is, if everything here is supposed to be Positive and utopia!
For me, that’s not the argument at all. So I don’t want to infantilize it. It’s not black and white contrast. I’m happy to hear that someone on President Obama’s team has successfully fought back against these jerks. I’m just saying that there are certain repetitious conclusions about the way the day gets started on MSM. I realize the guy has a show that’s on for umpteen hours in the morning and that’s what gets people jacked up at the start of the day. But it’s so predictable. PBO said it himself. He doesn’t watch because he doesn’t learn anything new. That’s all it is, simply.
Practically live blogging Morning Joke every morning and posting obscure right wing rantings and already debunked bogus anti-POTUS polls is not what Hopefruit and UT do, Jovie.
They debunk them! Thus they must feel it’s important!
No, Jovie. What you do repeatedly, is post things that have already been debunked and post them with a hair on fire rant wondering how bad this or that is for the President. You do this along with many other things that negatively impact and derail threads. This is a daily thing and I know for a fact that it’s stopped people from coming here. But then I think that’s your goal.
That said, I have no interest in going back and forth with you. You may have some on here fooled but I see exactly what you’re doing.
Also, I read Dotsters posts about the Media as well. They are very well thought out and used as an example of media bias towards Robney.
Never seen her get chewed out, either!
Jovie, itgurl’s original post did not name anyone. Stating a preference is not an attack. Chill out, we appreciate you here. There are just some mornings when the Scarborough messaging is enough to make us want to barf. LOLz.
A hit dog, or should I say covert troll, will holler.
What did you say?
Calling me a Troll is a last resort!
Well, it looks like the grand asshole Morning Joe has succeeded in dividing and conquering. SMH.
yep. same people fall into the trap over and over it seems. you know what, jovie141, i can tell you exactly what republicans will say next week, and next year, no matter what the topic is. they have been saying the same things and will continue to for decades. we don’t need stenography of their tricks. we know the whole game plan already, and we know exactly how the mainstream media will promote the lies.
to those who say scroll…there are times where’s it’s basically impossible to read the comments here without seeing constant hair-on-fire rambling. i personally have started coming less just because of this, actually. i feel it’s more beneficial for president obama for people to stay at maximum motivation instead of worry and gloom, but of course, to each their own.
That would be true if I were not a team captain fir Ida!
Whoo whee. That’s a lot of responses, can’t believe i read all that.
I will say one thing this site has been useful in getting lots of information and facts to use against inane arguments that talking heads make which eventually filters to undecided voters. Let’s not forget that a majority of people get their news from the MSM , including morning Joe and when you go canvassing or phone banking you are likely to meet people who have been persuaded by the nonsense on television. It does help to know what it is they are hearing and have adequate facts and information to set them straight.
Of course, as everyone has already said, if you do not like a some stuff in the comments section by all means scroll onward. I was about to scroll past your stuff too if it were not for the many reply that piqued my interest.

Thanks, JER! Whenever POTUS is about to go on a trip, I always look for your links! :)
Bulgaria and Belgium are in the Gold Medal round for Tidily Winks, now on MSNBC.
Boy, I have been waiting for this, and these two Countries, are so exciting!
No! But, close! Every single Game has been on tv. Last night at 2, I believe I saw someone from East Germany(ha), get the Gold for Tilta Whirl contest! So exciting!
These games have turned into the X Games!
This is true. Pole dancing advocates want it to become an Olympic event.
I am glad that the President’s team hit back with the ‘Dubious’ ad. They could not let
that Romney LIE go unanswered. Great ad. Good job team Obama.
The planned parenthood ad with Elizabeth Banks is also excellent. She comes across
as being very authentic.
Thank you for both postings Chips. As always, you keep us informed.
We pray for the safety and success of our President as he travels to Colorado today. Candle lit.
I just turned to CNN to read the newa crawler, and it says that Gingrich is going to help Romney with the “welfare” charge. What????
We are Not allowed to discuss what the media says here, only if you put it in Twitter format will it be acceptable!
why don’t you start your own site if there’s such a undercurrent of demand for every little rambling of the media propagandists, and more importantly, so helpful for the obama campaign? it probably wouldn’t take up any more time than what you spend filling up the comment sections here. just a thought…
Remember Newtie regurgitated during the primary that President Obama is the welfare president? I think he said that, his lips were moving, but I never quite caught what the dork was sayin’.
Is He the one really doing the Tweeting?
Good morning, TODville.

“The Sikh That Defined Whiteness For America”
“The shootings at the Oak Creek Gurdwara reminded me of the story of Bhagat Singh Thind who could be fairly described as the man who caused the United States Supreme Court to define White in the same way that inspired the murderous Wade Page.
As our MSM is currently asking Sikhs to justify their existence in our country as good non Muslims something kept tickling me to remember. Sikhs have fought and suffered for the American dream every bit as much as other minorities in this nation and have experienced the same hate. I’m no longer interested in people like AC Cooper being fascinated by the flag in a Sikhs front yard as if they need prove their American bona fides. They don’t have to prove themselves to America, America needs to prove itself to them.”

LOL Romney Girl!!
LOL. Very funny.
Now I have this song going through my head continuously. Thanks a LOT.
The song is going through my head too, thought I’d share it with everyone else. “-)
This is hilarious!
Seems like RomneyHood is flexible on welfare and the truth. In my terms it means Mitt “RomneyHood” is a bold face Liar.
In my neighborhood it means Mitt Romney is a dam LIAR.
Sandra Fluke will introduce the President today.
Chips has the scheduled posted as 3:20pm Eastern.
Goooood Morning all you O peeps!!! Another great getting up day on the TOD stoop!!!! I caught a bit of the Moanin’ Folks show and must say that Robert Gibbs remains my hero. He was very much out numbered and called upon to answer for everything from a SuperPac’s ad to PBO’s jump shot (not really). Anyway, he more than held his own and I’m sure went straight to the showers. I am proud of the O team.
My political take today is the other campaign will try to change the subject from Mittiful’s taxes to the horrible blaming of a death on Mittfit by the SuperPac. There is a double standard comparison between what’s a negative ad and how the truth about someone puts them in a negative light. Well, that’s because sometimes the truth indeed hurts. If Mitt is held accountable for the truth about him, then there wouldn’t be talk about negative ads by the PBO campaign. It’s just August, it’ll get worst before it gets better. Mitt hasn’t even begun to use all of that money he and his cartel has amassed. Hang on to your uppers, September is gonna be a doozy.
Oh geez, pardon me, I think I posted this already. I need to exercise my remaining brain cells more often. The two of them keep bouncing off each other causing me great confusion at times.
“Speaking of former presidents, Bill Clinton won’t be the only one speaking at the Democratic Convention. Jimmy Carter will have a prime time spot too. And how many former presidents will be speaking (or even attending) the Republican Convention? Nada. Not one. Zero.”

Via Kay of BJ, a surprisingly good cnn piece on mittbot’s tax evasion methods.
In his key position as head of the board’s audit committee, Romney was required under the securities laws and his fiduciary duties to review the transaction. In fact, it has been publicly reported that Romney was the Marriott Board member most acquainted with the transaction and to whom the other board members turned for advice. This makes sense because aggressive tax-driven financial engineering was a large part of what Romney (and Bain) did for a living. For these reasons, it is fair to hold him accountable for Marriott’s spurious tax reporting.
Romney’s campaign staff has attempted to deflect responsibility, arguing that he relied on Marriott’s tax department and advisers.
This claim is disingenuous. In a transaction of this magnitude, sensitivity and questionableness, the prudent step would be to secure advice to the audit committee and the board from experienced and independent tax counsel, who would certainly have cautioned that the Marriott position was risky and not supported by precedent or proper statutory interpretation.
Moreover, on the key issue of the business purpose and economic substance, Romney was, or should have been, aware of the facts that the transaction had its genesis solely in tax avoidance and was a “marketed” tax shelter.
He had an insider’s perspective on the motivation and lack of substance in the transaction, as well as the financial sophistication to understand the tax avoidance involved. Romney failed in his duties to Marriott and its shareholders and acted to undermine the fairness of the tax system.
No one could accuse Romney of lacking the intelligence and analytical skills to have dealt with this transaction appropriately. Indeed, his strengths in this regard were the reason the other board members relied on him.
What emerges from this window into corporate tax compliance behavior is the picture of an executive who was willing to go to the edge, if not beyond, to bend the rules to seek an unfair advantage, and then hide behind the advice of so-called experts to deflect criticism when a scheme backfires.
SELECTIVE OUTRAGE ON THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT ABOUT HARRY REID & ROMNEY’S TAX RETURNS
Harry Reid questions Mitt Romney’s tax returns and he’s made out to be Joseph McCarthy. Some on the right sill want the President to prove where he was born and release his college transcripts and passports. – AND IT’S CRICKETS. Alex Wagner (filling in for Lawrence O’Donnell) talks to Ari Melber and Michelle Goldberg.
So Mitt's not consistent? As head of Marriott audit panel, he's tied to "largest tax avoidance scheme in US history." bit.ly/Rph9yF— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) August 08, 2012
“Romney’s unfavorable percentage is ticking ever upward, largely, it seems, because independents are starting to comprehend that Mitt Romney is a bumbling, brooding, hypersecretive conniver with unscrupulous inhuman tendencies, even for a sociopath; in short, an incompetent Richard Nixon.
That’s the good news. Now, for the really delicious stuff:
‘The numbers could increase pressure on Romney to find a way to connect personally with voters at the Republican National Convention later this month.'”
[Hahaha! I'd have plenty of Chips' cheesy puffs & something-proof in a pretty glass ready just to watch Willard try to "connect personnaly" with anybody!]
The Media Myth Surrounding Obama’s Negative Campaign
By Media Matters
In fact, when the Romney campaign made an ad complaining about how negative Obama’s re-election run has been, it cobbled together on-air quotes from CBS’s Bob Schieffer, Time’s Mark Halperin and the New York Times’ David Brooks, all of whom have gone on TV lamenting the tone of Obama’s campaign.
But is the claim accurate? Is the Democrat really running some sort of guttural, ruthlessly negative campaign? Is it far and way more negative than his opponent’s effort? And is the tone of Obama’s 2012 campaign completely different from his 2008 run for election, as the press insists?
No, no, no, and no.
The topic of Obama’s supposedly negative campaign has become something of a media obsession, while at the same time the press has shown very little interest in detailing how the Romney campaign is running almost an entirely anti-Obama sales pitch to American voters. Data regarding political ads indicate that Romney and his allies have spent roughly twice as much money this year airing negative ads than Obama and his supporters. And in terms of the ratio of negative-to-positive ads since April, it’s been 2-to-1 for the Obama campaign and 5-to-1 for Romney.

Clinton smacks down Romney welfare lie
By Steve Benen
Regardless of the fact that the differences between Clinton and Obama are effectively non-existent, what exactly is Romney’s plan when Clinton starts campaigning aggressively on Obama’s behalf, delivering a major primetime address in support of Obama during the Democratic National Convention?*
Or more to the point, if Romney is spending much of 2012 telling voters that Clinton is reliable and worthy of respect, won’t that be a problem when the Big Dog is urging voters to rally behind Barack Obama and reject Romney’s candidacy?
what?!? lumping clinton and barack as the same?!? worlds apart in terms of policy (PBO is proposing some similar things now just because that’s what he thinks is possible with these republicans/fake democrats…he’d go much farther if he could), personal life, and campaign approach. i kind of wish clinton wouldn’t campaign for barack, but whatever. way, way too much baggage with that guy, and he’s proven to be unpredictable not willing to just go with the program. the guy CHOSE to do ridiculous behavior in the white house, hurt and embarrass his family for the rest of their lives, and then lied about it under oath! i really, really don’t like seeing this guy being lumped in with one of the great leaders of all time, both in terms of a husband and father, and world leader. no way, benen…the differences are very existent!
I’m not a Clinton fan much either, I don’t think he does anything, unless the end result benefits him. However, like him or not, he has approval ratings through the roof. It can’t hurt to have him going to bat for the Prez., even if he may not sincerely mean it. There are some folks, yes Dems, who will give more credence to what Bill says, than to PBO who may say the exact same thing. It is what it is, can’t doubt it, gotta go with it, if it gets us further down the road.
Fact is, he should have never been under oath in the first place. The repubs spent untold amounts of money and time on the witch hunt to get him for anything that they could. They put the country on hold (sound familiar?) to prosecute a guy who made a terrible judgement call about a personal matter in the oval office. Making poor judgement calls is not a crime, even the dirty deed itself was not a crime. The only people who should have been even remotely interested in that whole thing were the two principle characters and their families. Anything else was voyeurism. Granted, it did reflect poorly as the leader of the country cavorting around in the Oval Office with all those ex-presidents looking over his shoulder. Who knows, they may have done worse themselves and high-fives were given all around.
How are the GOP telling voters that Clinton is “reliable and worthy of respect” when they are the ones who impeached him? They have no credibility. And since they themselves are neither reliable, nor worthy of respect – their endorsement means zero.
May be chips’ should bring in a new rule a la maher – New rule – No more moaning joke palaver since he is an insignificant idjit.
And no more mark knoller tweet!
knoller ain’t moaning joe, who peddles poutrage and lies everyday. Strawman.
HARRY REID IS FORCING THE TAX RETURNS ISSUE BECAUSE THE MEDIA IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB
Harry Reid & Mitt Romney’s Taxes
Seven things about the Harry Reid/Mitt Romney tax controversy:
By Jamison Foser
7: That Romney has made it this far without releasing his taxes should be an embarrassment to the political media. They’ll say there’s nothing more they could’ve done to force him to do so, which is absolute nonsense. If Mitt Romney’s refusal to release his taxes was front-page news every day, and led every evening newscast — if reporters hounded Romney over the documents with one tenth the enthusiasm they brought to their pursuit of Bill Clinton over a land deal in which he lost money — then, perhaps they could say they’ve done all they could. But they haven’t, and so Harry Reid is trying to force the issue.

Especially when they have no problem snooping into the personal finances of an Olympian’s parent.
Precisely…Harry Reid is doing his job and that of The Lazy, bought and paid for, presstitutes. But, I also believe that someone actually told Harry Reid that willard hasn’t paid his taxes for 10 years.
“I don’t guess there’s much question that “cross-pressured white working-class voters” are the target of Romney’s new effort to bring back the “welfare wedge” politics of the 1980s. But it’s by no means clear it will work so long as these voters don’t like or trust Romney.
In any event, obsessing over presidential job approval ratings, particularly this far out from Election Day, and ignoring every other bit of information, is not some self-evidently wise approach. The political dynamics affecting “the American people” are a bit more complex than that.”
“From Peter Sagal on his NPR show Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me…
For his next stop, Romney went to Israel and gave a speech comparing the Palestinian culture unfavorably to Israeli culture. When everybody got mad, he said “I never said anything about culture.” He did, you can see it in the transcript provided by his campaign. Then after saying it, and then denying he said it, he wrote an op-ed and said it again. Now, in the Olympics they name a difficult move after the first person to do it in international competition. So from now on, the “Triple Self Contradiction with Vaguely Racist Backflip” will be known as the “Triple Romney”
