Good Morning all. Have a great Obama Day. Remember to work to GOTV. I can’t count on this country to keep this great President in office. Listened to CSPAN callers this morning and I am further convinced that we are a very uniformed electorate. I am hoping for the best!

Good Morning Ms. Chips and TOD.

Remember that C-SPAN screens its callers. There is a Repub & a Dem line. What type of people call into TV stations? Do you think the majority of people call in or even listen to C-SPAN? No, don’t worry. If you want to be concerned about something I’d suggest voter suppression – that’s at the top of my list.

Morning everyone.. Just got an e-mail from Markos on daily kos saying that we need to keep up the fight… That we are winning this.

I thought he was “disappointed” with Obama?

      • August 12, 2012 at 8:46 am

Maybe he meant to keep up the fight to defeat PBO? That seems to have been his goal the last three years.

      • 35 vcprezofan2
        August 12, 2012 at 10:36 am

‘Markos…saying..we need to KEEP UP the fight’ to me just means emoprogs of his genre are starting to shift gears, laying their groundwork to take credit. If I remember correctly, PBO’s first win was due to their efforts on his behalf…wIthout them he couldn’t have won. In the words of I don’t remember which TOBobot ‘Oh vey!’

        • August 12, 2012 at 1:27 pm

They need to take credit for people not being informed about Obamacare, and the fact that the GOP won in 2010. They can take most of the credit for that.

Romney Campaign Examined Tax Returns Of Potential Veeps
“Several” years required, Myers says. Romney has released just two years of returns
    http://www.buzzfeed.com/zekejmiller/romney-campaign-examined-tax-returns-of-potential

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign requested “several” years of tax returns from potential vice presidential picks, senior adviser Beth Myers, who ran the search, told reporters Saturday.

Myers said vetting documents were stored in safes in a secure room at campaign headquarters for review by attorneys.

Asked what was inside the safes, Myers replied “tax documents, everything we used.”

And how many years? “Several” she said, declining to provide a more specific number.

    • 46 anameti
      August 12, 2012 at 8:45 am

Romney has not released 2 years of tax return. He release some part of 2010 and promised to release 2011-which he requested extension on. so far, we have only seen half a year of tax return from Romney

      • 47 hopefruit2
        August 12, 2012 at 8:59 am

Yup. And we know that the 2011 return will not be representative – it will be an extremely cleaned-up version designed to take up the news cycle close to the election and to distract voters. We don’t need to see that one, we want the returns from 1999-2009.

Remember in ’08 Barack Obama never ran an ad “against” Sarah Palin. But for 2012 they gonna wrap the PaulRyanBudget around the neck of both of them. I can’t wait to watch!!

    • 50 Dudette
      August 12, 2012 at 8:43 am

True, but that wasn’t just out of some sense of courtesy. Palin was snatched out of relative obscurity and thrust upon the national stage with no national policy record to speak of (thank a lot, Senator McCain), while Paul Ryan has a record of votes and policy positions an arm long for the Obama Team to crush into oblivion (thank you Mr. Romney).

        August 12, 2012 at 8:57 am

Also the 08 team had to be very careful about going after a woman after Hillary was defeated and also racists would have leaped on the optics of an African American presidential candidate going after a so-called attractive white women. Biden had to walk on eggshells around her at the debate, even though he was probably itching to call her a ninny. The 08 team handled it perfectly and let Miss Sarah hang herself. This time, all bets off in attacking the Twit and Twerp team. These are two very repulsive, arrogant, privileged white guys and they’re going to get hit in ways they never dream.

I have had to dip into my savings but every dime and every penny is worth my security, my mental well-being, my pride in America, and my love of this President and Vice-President.

Paul Ryan cannot escape his Ayn Rand loyalty. Lawrence O’Donnell has the audio tape and he knows people who were at the event when Ryan was espousing his love for Ayn Rand the atheist and pen-pal to a child killer..

shrub & darth are in a bar watching the television when the news comes on. It showed a guy on a bridge who was about to jump, obviously suicidal. “I’ll bet you $10 he’ll jump,” says darth.

“Bet you $10 he won’t,” replies shrub. Then, the guy on the television closed his eyes and threw himself off the bridge. shrub hands over the bet to darth.

“I can’t take your money,” says darth. “I cheated on you (any surprises there ?) . The same story was on the five o’clock news.”

“No, no. Take it,” says shrub. “I saw the five o’clock news too. I just didn’t think the guy was dumb enough to jump again!”

A preacher was completing a temperance sermon: with great expression he said, “If I had all the beer in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

With even greater emphasis, he said, “And if I had all the wine in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

And then, finally, he said, “And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

There was total silence in the room. Then one man got up and said he was leaving. The preacher asked him why.

The man said “I have this sudden urge to bathe in the river”.

HAHAHAHAHA! So now the MSM’s biggest love-fest tribute to Ryan pick: “How the Romney team outwitted the 24-hr news cycle” in picking Ryan as VP.

I mean …. that’s the most critical issue that the media can find to focus on at this time? How Ryan went in through his front door, but escaped through his back door to the airport? The NY Times devoted a whole column to this, and NBC opened their “Meet The Republicans” with a segment on this “remarkable feat” pulled off by the Romney team. HAHAHAHAHA!

Interesting, others have noticed the same thing and are calling BS on it as well!! The MSM and GOP are so transparent in their coordination of talking points and narratives. It’s almost laughable if it weren’t so disturbing at the same time.

This is the Big Story of the day—-all newscasts and every newspaper and news site is featuring this Big Intrigue—–about consulting with Cheney—oy!— and about Ryan going thru the woods behind his house and hopping on this plane in disguise (sunglasses and hat)– and — staying at the Fairfield and eating Applebees takeout—urp!——-etc. etc.—-the news media is just full of awe and admiration of this most (un)remarkable feat, as if it was significant to the future well-being of our country.

      • 91 hopefruit2
        August 12, 2012 at 9:25 am

That’s is exactly what they’re trying to imply. That the Romney camp is so disciplined and effective at keeping things on a close lid, that they will be great for running this country.

I guess they’re trying to put this on the level of the massive Bin Laden operation that was going down while PBO was laughing and roasting Donald Trump?

This media is a real nasty piece of work.

      August 12, 2012 at 9:05 pm

Actually, I do not think it much of a feat for Romney to have outsmarted the journalists. He is a master of secrecy and keeping things hidden like taxes and bank accounts. Why would it be difficult to fool the reporters? He keeps them off topic and gets them to report his lies about PBO all the time. Hiding his VP pick? Piece of cake.

    August 12, 2012 at 9:11 am

Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, claims his far deeper tax cuts would have a price tag of exactly zero dollars. He has no intention of submitting his tax plan to the committee or anywhere else that might conduct a serious analysis, since he seems intent on running a campaign far more opaque than any candidate has in years.

He has made his economic plan the fundamental basis of his candidacy, and yet with the Republican convention just two weeks away, we know next to nothing of the plan’s details. The extreme cuts proposed by his new running mate, Paul Ryan, are far more hard-edged, making Mr. Romney’s mathematically impossible promises look vague and shopworn by comparison.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/12/opinion/sunday/romneys-tax-plan-defies-the-rules-of-math.html?_r=1&smid=tw-share

      • 117 hopefruit2
        August 12, 2012 at 9:57 am

Actually, I’ve been noticing the same thing with most of the press since PBO has been President. The press is hostile and accusatory towards PBO surrogates, whether it’s Axelrod, Plouffe, Gibbs, Jarrett (or others), and giggly, and warm with the GOP surrogates. Unfortunately that is true with even some of the MSNBC pundits like Tweety, Rachel, Ed, etc.

I think Rev Al, Lawrence and Martin are probably among the few who tend to be consistently more abrasive (as they should be) with GOP guests relative to DEM guests.

      • 118 Lovepolitics2008
        August 12, 2012 at 10:01 am

Is there anyway to pressure NBC to get Gregory out ? His bias are becoming more and more obvious.

A dream: a video with clips highlighting how Gregory treats republicans and democrats differently. A campaign on youtube to discredit the guy as a journalist. Come to think of it, people like Candy Crowley, John King of CNN should be denounced as well.

The MSM is losing some power to influence things, but let’s be real they STILL have power to build narratives. Watch them in the next weeks working to establish the credibility of Paul Ryan as a “moderate” and “reasonable” guy.

As I tell anyone who will listen, “do you want YOUR retirement to be a constant battle with a Chinese menu of private options for where your pension money will be invested for the next year, and which private, expensive plan you will choose for your medical care next year?” Do you want to spend your retirement managing your 800 bucks a month you get from what used to be Social Security and leave it up to the mercy of the market?.Anyone who thinks about this for a minute and still says it sounds like fun is either Bernie Madoff or a total nincompoop.

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/08/11/nbc-bows-to-pressure-will-live-stream-olympics-closing-ceremony/

Olympic broadcaster NBC has bowed to pressure and agreed to stream the Games’ closing ceremony live. In a change of plan, the network will air London’s farewell to the quadrennial event in real time on its website.

It comes two weeks after company bosses came in for a torrent of online abuse for refusing to show the opening ceremony as it happened. Instead NBC opted for a tape-delayed program later that evening, allowing for greater advertising revenue.

Sunday’s closing ceremony – which is expected to include performances from the Spice Girls, The Who and Madness, amongst others – will not be available live to TV viewers. As with the opening, the televised show will be kept for the more lucrative prime-time slot.. [more in the article]

STANBUL // The United States and Turkey said yesterday they are working on plans for possible intervention in Syria should Bashar Al Assad’s regime use chemical weapons.

“We have been closely coordinating over the course of this conflict,” Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, told reporters in Istanbul after talks with her Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu. “But now we need to get into the real details of such operational planning and it needs to be across both of our governments.”

She said the US and Turkey had decided to set up a working group of representatives from the two foreign ministries as well as from the intelligence services and the military of both countries. Responding to a question, Ms Clinton confirmed that the establishment of safe havens for refugees and a no-fly-zone for government aircraft inside Syria were being looked at.
