Bringing this over from last thread cause Chips is so fast:

I surely hope that LOD just showed Gallup’s polling showing a 1 point bump for Bozo vs. 45% for PBO, to 1.) highlight only a 1 point bump and 2.) how lousy and biased Gallup is and that even their own nutjob poll made found no difference in favorables for Bozo.

I don’t pay gallup any attention. I look at the poll from the battleground states. I lost all favor with gallup months ago.

Chips, sometime after Labor Day, inspired by this video, I’ll send you a comment on why it is essential that the memory of John Lauber become, through the total rejection of #BullyMitt and those associated with him in any way, become a legacy of America that John Lauber’s fate inspired.

Now would be too early. But, sometime between Labor Day and early October just feels like good timing.

As you and many at TOD know, the perspective of the commentary will be that of an aged white male passionately dedicated to his wife of many decades.

What #BullyMitt did to John Lauber is very much why he could demonstrate at Stanford University in favor of the draft and then dodge the draft, because of Daddy, and live in luxury in Paris while MY classmates and friends DIED in Vietnam. It’s why he could pioneer outsourcing as a Corporate RAIDER and be proud, and ever more wealthy, by destroying the lives of countless Americans – all ONLY doable because he INHERITED great wealth from a father who worked in wheat and sugar beet fields from the time he was eleven – YES 11. George Romney’s pampered, patsy son NEVER suffered any discomfort, ever, but wrecked terror on John Lauber just because he was different.

This truly evil person – the only evil in the known universe being embodied in specific members of our species – must NEVER be President. That he selected an acolyte of the wretched Ayn Rand is totally consistent with how evil he is.

So, enough for now, more after Labor Day.

              #FORWARD

You sure can tell the age range of all these wimmin on TOD by their choice of music… even the one who was recently celebrating 21 years! Of course, *I* only vaguely recognize these musical numbers because I was a precocious child. ;)

      • August 15, 2012 at 10:43 pm

Really Rock?! Really!! I appreciate the enthusiasm but this is so annoying for smartphone users!! REALLY!

      • August 16, 2012 at 6:55 am

really robin? really. just keep scrolling….lots of other things are annoying but this ain’t one….rock on

        • August 16, 2012 at 7:47 am

Yes it is. The fact that it takes so many scrolls to get past it is the point. It’s not a comment and it’s not a real picture. Like I said, I appreciate the enthusiasm and love, but for people like myself who try to stay in touch while at work it waste time trying to scroll past it. And you cant even see the whole picture on a phone or iPad.
I asked Rock to consider folks
who arent reading this using laptop a couple of weeks ago.
Rock, can you minimize your art at least?

          • August 16, 2012 at 8:01 am

Come on Robin, those images from Rock are beautiful, if you don’t enjoy them surely it’s not that big a deal to scroll past them?

Miss Ann was busy taking notes today…tonight she’s studying up – can’t go to bed yet. Gotta get at least a “B” in “Michelle 101″ for the campaign managers to feel satisfied that she can be of any good on the campaign trail to Willard.

      • August 15, 2012 at 11:01 pm

I saw a clip of her today, and I’m gonna try to be nice, so let’s just say she gives me hard face. She practically scowled through an interview, Palin-style, and scowling is so…..unbecoming to her.

        • August 16, 2012 at 3:36 am

What a gracious comment. She looked puffed up on cosmetic toxins, and her scowling face was really off-putting. She should go back to lunching with the country club ladies.

By the way, has anyone seen her doing any events with people suffering with MS, or even making a speech or statement about the disease and those suffering with it? Just curious. She seems useless.

Good evening TOD Fam! Been a rough week. Have tried to keep up, however… I have at least read all of the front pages. A few times, I’ve fallen asleep while trying to post a comment; when I’ve awaken, you guys were 10 threads ahead! LOL!

FLOTUS’ visit here last week was OUTSTANDING! She and the crowd were FIRED UP! I volunteered at the FT Washington event. Long day, show time was 9:30 am; she took the stage around 3:30 pm; with traffic and a stop for dinner, we didn’t get home until around 8:00 pm. Needless to say, I was in bed all day on Friday. Saturday, I did my phonebank shift then it was back home to bed. Great news, I was able to get two copies of “American Grown” signed — I’m back on the “good daughter” list.

Here is a short clip from the event.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ROMNEYCARE FROM THE ARCHITECTS – (Very Informative.)

    ===================================================================

Mitt Romney does not like to talk about the landmark health care reform he signed into law in Massachusetts. In fact when Romney talks about Romneycare he gets into big trouble with conservatives. But Romney’s health care reform has become the gold standard and set the stage for the Affordable Care Act.

Ed Schultz talks to two of the architects of both plans. Jonathan Gruber, Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and John McDonough of the Harvard School of Public Health and Director of the Center for Public Health Leadership.

AS DREAMERS LINE UP FOR RELIEF, REPUBLICANS TRY TO AVOID THE ISSUE

    by Adam Luna

    ———————————-

Though today is HUGE, Romney won’t even talk about the new program. In January, he vowed to veto the DREAM Act and later, advocated “self deportation.” But today? Nada.

Romney also knows that Latino voters could tip the balance in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Nevada, and Virginia. And just today, Politico ran the latest numbers in an article on how Paul Ryan, who voted NO on DREAM and voted YES on the infamous Sensenbrenner bill (which sparked the massive marches of 2006), doesn’t help with Hispanics:

Obama’s lead over Romney among Hispanic voters in national polling hovers around and even above the 40 percent mark. Last month, a Latino Decisions survey showed Obama touching 70 percent of the vote and leading by 48 points. An NBC/Wall Street Journal/Telemundo poll conducted in late July found Obama taking 67 percent of Latinos to Romney’s 23 percent. The POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll published Monday placed that lead at 62 percent to 26 percent.

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos framed the Republican dilemma in a tweet after the Ryan announcement: “How can [Paul Ryan] attract the Hispanic vote? If Republicans don’t get a third of the Latino vote they won’t get the White House back.”

I’m trying to be more Obama-like, but I hate these people with a fever. They’re going after all of President Obama’s greatest assets/advantages. They are running ads trying to dirty his huge likability advantage. It’s all ugly, uglier, ugliest. These Repubs and the Willard campaign are despicable, the lowest of the low.

In my very red district tonight, I took my hubby to the emergency room. I wore my “Barack Obama BackPack. I usually wear it on the front of my body, slip the straps over my arms and let hang in front of me.

There was another patient there, who kept smiling at me. I nodded and smiled back. After a while she motioned to me to come towards her. I obliged. Then she said to me, please tell me where you got your Barack Obama bag. She said I was just telling her, she pointed to another lady, ‘Look she has a Barack Obama Bag.” I told her my sister in Maryland had sent me the bag. I told her I also had a tote.

    She really loved the backpack.

In this my read district, I never hesitate to carry my backpack or tote when I am going out. Makes for great conversation and sometimes some awkward looks. But who cares.

After I heard Ryan deflect a Medicare question about his own budget saying he was supporting Romney’s budget plan. I got to thinking WE need to know what his budget contains regardless since he would be #2. We deserve to know how he thinks and what he wants to do incase he would become the Prez. They are a team so we would be picking a team and need to know about both. (Of course I would never vote for them anyhow.)

Good point – we can’t let him weasel out of accountability. If he’s a heartbeat away from ultimate power – Id like to know what he’d do with that power.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-15/medicaid-cuts-ryan-doesn-t-tout-would-limit-aid-to-poor-seniors.html

I think this is what Chris Van Hollen addressed tonight …

Medicaid Cuts Ryan Doesn’t Tout Would Cut Aid To Seniors

Paul Ryan’s plan to overhaul Medicare wouldn’t affect today’s seniors. His Medicaid proposal would.
While the Republican vice-presidential candidate is careful to avoid touching Medicare benefits for anyone at or near retirement, his budget would impose immediate cuts to Medicaid, the health-care program for the poor that funds nursing-home care and other benefits for 6 million U.S. seniors.

“It’s very easy to forget about these people,” said Howard Gleckman, a resident fellow at the Urban Institute, a Washington-based policy research group. “It’s a big, big cut.”

    snip/

“They care about the votes of seniors who are not poor and they don’t care about the votes and the consequences to seniors who are poor,” Waxman said in an interview.
Health-care policy specialists say it’s politically easier to cut Medicaid because most voters don’t understand it.
“Most people have no clue what Medicaid means, especially to seniors,” said John Rother, president of the National Coalition on Health Care, a Washington-based group that promotes expanding health-care coverage while controlling costs.

Repeal of ACA would cut benefits to seniors. RIGHT NOW.

Ryan cuts the same amount of money from Medicare RIGHT NOW but does not funnel that money back into health care and health care for seniors — it goes to fund tax cuts.

The Obama team should just say and shout it loudly……..No cuts in medicare. Not one dime in service. Medicare’s Life extended for 8yrs more.

GOP show Us where there is a cut in benefit and where is this stolen benefit and who Got it?

Use their wicked verbiages to discredit the lying bishop and his minions.

Dems should make it as simple as possible. Remember folks, the right has their rightwing media echo chamber and the lazy freaking media.

Jonathan Capehart on MJ on Wednesday fianally spoke up and would Not take the lies about pres Obama stand. The guy stood his ground and single handily, derailed the hatefest that the show designed for Wed. Then LOD came in for another 22mins and boy, I had fun.

Love what BobFr does with the Paul Ryan political Coup ‘d tat on Jan 20, 2009. We should also have a dereliction of duty by the press by ignoring voter suppression. A constitutional right being ignored by the MSM. This Is Not a partisan issue.

Romney uses hate, jealousy, enmity, divisiveness, ethnicity, etc against pres Obama?

And idiots like Wolf and CNN give this crap air time? Where were these fools since 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012……..the many years then sen Obama and Now Pres Obama has taken the relentless barrage of hate coming at him and his family from all angles?

Other than their delusional belief that the presidency is Owed them, why is Ann Romney so angry? Can anyone imagine if it was Michelle Obama with that personality and body language being as snobbish as Ann as she was with Natalie M or with Robin Roberts weeks ago? As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Ann Romney is truly whacked.

It’s the media, and the right wing who is trying to shovel Queen Ann down our throat. They have tried to compare her to our FLOTUS, in no way do I think FLOTUS is perfect, Queen Ann can’t compare. Queen Ann is a snobbish uppity rich woman who think certain people is beneath her.

Whoa, she looked and sounded HORRIBLE in that interview.

Only in this effed media would her words not be explosive — we don’t have to give the other side ‘ammunition’? Did you just admit that the tax returns are awful for the Romneys?

The anger, the seething superiority, the Queen Ann attitude. She was horrific.

Since the price of Crude Oil and retail gasoline are both creeping back up. I will be writing the WH and calling up the Chicago Head Qtrs to do what they can and try to be ahead of this. The Romney camp are in a meltdown mode. Their frustration level is not pretty. They are looking for anything to grab on to. And with the convention coming, they are looking for a theme that the press would help them parrot. The speculators are once again trying their level best to help Romney in any which way. There is No reason why the Dow isn’t over 13500 now. The economic data out have been good, including the 3.8M jobs opening. But the gas prices is easily understood and the MSM would love to boost Romney since his BOY WONDER, Ryan, didn’t do what the media had hoped. Gallup……no matter how hard, Dr. Newport has tried to pump Up the Volume for Paul Davis Ryan…..aka, Ayn Rand disciple.

The rise in prices is due to pipeline failures in IL and CA. that’s what we call ‘infrastructure’, people. Sitting on record profits during the worst recession since the Great Depression, and the great private sector shovels dividends to stockholders and lets the infrastructure that delivers energy to the American people crumble.

The private sector does NOT take care of anything, they do not build infrastructure. Only the government or a public/private partnership looks out for the common good.

The RWNJ must think that we are all stupid. Seriously?

They keep forgetting that pres Obama is Not a newbie. He is and has been president for 3.6yrs. Therefore, because the right and the media have had a dislike to pres Obama, really are not truly how 313M people feel.

GWBush said, fool me once, er, er, shame on you? Fool me, er, er, …..you just can’t get fooled again.

Rightwingers and the laziest media, your imaginary PBO is NOT the REAL Man. Try the REAL man himself……..If you did, you would have gotten it a while back.

Pres Obama, to Know Him IS to Love him, period.

Time to go on offense, we have a big soft pitch right over the plate, time to stop taking pitches and swing!
We have Medicare, tax Returns and Bain, I am shocked we have not released any tv ads, post Ryan!
Instead, the unshackled comment and Seamus is driving the narrative. That is all fun and games, but it does not drive a winning narrative, gives the other Guy a chance to claim the Victim. Cough, cough.
Even this Morning, we are on defense, while we should be on offense. Sigh!
    End Rant.

This was a really big deal for this administration on immigration yesterday and from what I’ve read it was barely mentioned by anyone.

CHICAGO — Tens of thousands of young illegal immigrants waited excitedly in lines as long as a mile and thronged to information sessions across the country on Wednesday, the first day that a federal immigration agency began accepting applications for deportation deferrals that include permits to work legally.

    • August 16, 2012 at 7:26 am

According to Gallup 60% of voters give the President poor marks on immigration.
Maybe that is why we are not trumpeting it all around? It does not poll well.
Apparently(thanks to rightwing echo chamber), The independents are scared shitless, over Hispanics taking JOBS.
The Right scares People all the time. Soon, we will be a Nation of Scardy Cats! Boo!

I have watched more local tv this week than I normally am accustomed to and practically every single ad is a negative ad from the RNC. I must say this concerns me. I don’t think I have seen one DNC ad on tv, only web ads. I’m in the Va market so technically this is a battleground market. I think we are being strategic because of the funds. The other side can spend endlessly because of the millions pouring into that campaign by the billionaires and wall street operatives.

I am trying to heal tendinitis in my left foot so that I can go out and volunteer this weekend. We are recruiting volunteers for the campaign. It’s crunch time so I’m going to ramp up my involvement going forward.

HAHAHAHA! David Axelrod basically told Sam Stein (not in exact words) to STFU about VP Biden’s comment! First Axe heavily defended Biden as a great asset to this administration, and then he basically told them in essence that this is primarily media-driven, that all candidates have said and will say things that will send the media into a tailspin, and it’s a whole lot of NOTHING! Then he took a not-so-subtle dig at McCain’s “advice” to replace Biden with Hillary on the ticket!

Thank you David Axelrod :) :)

Here is the “MUST-SEE” Lawrence O’Donnell segment on the “Angry Mrs Romney” which focused squarely on the issue of the tax returns, and how Mr. & Mrs. Rommey are admitting that releasing their returns would be bad for them! I’m glad that L’OD is keeping this issue in the spotlight and not getting distracted.

WordPress is acting up again. I can’t reply to peoples comments directly.

So Hopefruit, this is in reply to you. LOD has been doing a great job of making sure that the public knows about the real Mitt, Ann and Paul Ryan. He’s been great. He’s kept the discussion focused on Mitt’s missing tax returns and Ryan’s disastrous plans for the country. He hasn’t let them off the hook. Unlike his dimwitted colleagues. I also hope he keeps pushing those who were selected as moderators to do a better job.

      “Unlike his dimwitted colleagues.”

That’s right ut. The tax return issues aren’t going anywhere. The media-driven frenzy about VP Biden’s remark was a failed attempt at creating a distraction. We won’t let them and I’m glad to see LOD is thinking along the same lines!

His career is over pretty much…

Nobody trusts or respects the louse – especially not the Republicans who know now too well how unreliable and how quickly he turns on others…
