I mentioned this on the last thread but will repeat it. I listened to a conference call today with the president. It was for OFA donors from 2008 and also current ones. The president talked about the need for everyone to dig deeper and contribute as much as possible now to the campaign. They are being outspent by the Romney campaign, and while he has been outspent before, the gap can’t be too wide. I really got a sense of urgency . This money thing is a real problem. So everyone, contribute and get others to send some money.

Hello Diane, I was on that call as well and the President sounded very well and up beat. And I will continue to dig deeper because his success is directly linked to my success. I have already got one additional friend to donate tonight to my page.

I am personally only dealing with my family, friend, and co-workers since so many people on this site have already given so much already.

I got a fundraising call today from OFA and donated more than I usually do and even surprised the canvasser that I donated the amount he asked for that he had to get his supervisor to verify. I gave them my cc and just did it! Getting PBO re-elected is VERY important to meand I have alittle extra to spare. I know not everyone can contribute cash but they give a lot of time and that counts just as much and because of the crappy economy due to the GOP people are out of work and companies are not hiring when they need to.

I was supposed to be on that call but I got a work call (as usual) and had to take it. After August, I am phone banking everyday nonstop until Nov 6th working for OFA and on local races here in SoCal.

We were told that Paul Ryan is an honest, straight shooter and a super duper, smart policy wonk. He is a serial liar and not a wonk. He is an ideologue that’s good with spreadsheets and when you ask him to explain himself he says weasely words like, ‘I don’t want to get to wonkish on you.’

Plus his signature achievement, the almight Paul Ryan budget, is a sham:

The Paul Ryan Plan Is Weak And Assumes The Economic Equivalent Of Winning The Lottery Twice

“Among his other overly-optimistic assumptions are that the unemployment rate falls to 4% by 2015 and an unprecedented 2.8% by 2021, another real estate boom begins almost immediately, and there is an average inflation and ten-year treasury rate for the next ten years of 2.04 and 4.15 respectively. These are assumptions that would make even the most rabid economic cheerleaders sit on their pompoms. Despite these pollyannish economic growth and record low unemployment projections, Ryan still assumes interest rates will remain near historic lows and that none of the cheap money showered onto the economy will ever find its way into the CPI. In other words, it’s the economic equivalent of winning the lottery twice in a row while failing to account for the higher taxes that accompany such good fortune.”

BTW, this Stericycle situation is beginning to gain attention among exactly the segment of the population that #RomneyRyan cannot afford to lose, let alone turn against them …. well, check this …

“”Do you remember the part of the article that said: “In case the GOP wakes up and runs Mitt Romney out of the country on a rail…” Guess what? The GOP woke up. Because of the Romney Abortion profiteering there is now a GOP “Dump Romney” at the convention movement gathering steam. Look:

        http://www.mmdnewswire.com/romney-hiding-bain-abortion-profits-116358.html

It’s being headed by former California GOP State Whip Steve Baldwin. The best is the quote from Dr. Gary Cass Mr. Baldwin’s co sponsor of “Dump Romney”: Dr. Cass says: “Dr. Gary Cass, a Presbyterian minister and Baldwin’s co-spokesman in the “DUMP ROMNEY” push said, “It seems the Republican Party is on the very brink of nominating a man who’s hiding a bloody record of such Biblical proportions, it would make Herod blush. We fear that Mitt Romney’s secret tax returns will show that he has financed and profited, like some ancient priest of Moloch or Baal, from the burning of human babies, from child sacrifice. If that’s so, could the GOP sink any lower than to nominate this man?”

These are the leaders of the GOP speaking. Imagine if Mitt the Abortion Profiteer is nominated what the Democrats will do to him with all the evidence they are holding in their pocket.””

        In the comments at: http://www.nowpublic.com/health/mitt-romney-s-abortion-business-made-him-50m

Be warned, some seriously deranged people commenting, but, as it happens, those are the #RomneyRyan ‘base’ … that’s eroding …

        • August 17, 2012 at 9:09 pm

Friends, I assure you neither Nixon, Reagan or either Bush would have survived this:

          http://www.mmdnewswire.com/romney-hiding-bain-abortion-profits-116358.html

#BainMitt won’t either …. and all we have to do is keep the word out there about #Stericycle (aka #BainMitt’s fetus disposal biz)

          • August 17, 2012 at 9:11 pm

            ibid …

“Baldwin said, “Sure, lying on federal SEC or FEC forms is a felony, but that overlooks the elephant in the room and undoubtedly hiding inside Romney’s tax returns: Through Bain, Romney bought shares in the leading immolator of aborted babies.”

Delegates to the GOP Convention began receiving a strategy memo last week entitled, “DUMP ROMNEY: Why Tampa’s Republican Delegates must Dump Romney to Defeat Obama.” It contends that no delegates are actually “bound” by law or GOP rules to vote for Romney and that, to win the White House and toss-up Senate seats, delegates must exercise their right to “conscientiously abstain” from Romney on the crucial first ballot, aiming for a stronger ticket leader in subsequent convention voting rounds. Also the title and core of a hard-hitting new 80,000 word book, the entire 9-page “DUMP ROMNEY” memo to GOP delegates can be read free online via Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader.”

I knew it, did I not say last week, he’s not the nominee yet, and to anticipate a shit fight at the so-called GOP convention? Maybe all the delegates will stand up for President Obama! Now, that would be very cool….. Then again…. Back soon, I have lovely story to share with y’all!

              • August 17, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Looking forward to the story, Pamela.

And, Ron Paul has a day long extravaganza already planned for 26 August – the day before the Convention and is fighting to have all his delegates recognized. This particular insight into #BainMitt’s past will not sit well with about the only ‘base’ he has because a few dozen or hundred rich white folk can purchase a bunch of TeeeVeee ads and #NEWSTAINERS but without those rabid evangelicals on his team, he not only has zero chance in November, he may not get out of Tampa unscathed …

  7. August 17, 2012 at 8:55 pm

Ron Paul’s presidential hopes may be dead, but he still has serious campaign cash left for one final hurrah at the Republican National Convention.

Much of the $2.5 million Paul’s presidential campaign had at the end of July will be directed toward a Paul-led event in Tampa, campaign spokesman Jesse Benton said.

Ryan Slammed on the Medicare Question

    By: John M. Curtis

    —————————————–

If Barack had really mismanaged the economy since taking office Jan. 20, 2009, the Dow Jones Industrial Average wouldn’t have risen 70%. Rising from 8,000 to over 13,100, the Dow reflects increased profitability by the nation’s most stable blue-chip companies. Romney, a former venture capitalist with Bain Capital, knows that stock prices don’t rise unless Wall Street’s earnings improve. Neither Romney nor Ryan complained about the economic disaster under former President George W. Bush where that nation’s biggest banks ran out cash. With rare exceptions, the banking sector has made a stunning recovery under Obama’s economic policies. Where were Mitt and Paul’s complaints when the nation lost over 250,000 jobs a month under Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney. Cheney lives on a different planet telling voters things were better when he was in office.

Ryan does well on the campaign stump as long as he’s not asked about what he plans to do with government entitlement programs and foreign wars. Romney dismissed questions about whether he supports the Ryan budget that cuts Medicare, Social Security and other government entitlements. By saying he’s on the same page as Ryan, Mitt commits himself to the same budget priorities listed in Ryan’s budget. “End the wars” and “stop the wars on the common good,” said a voter to Ryan. Neither Ryan nor Romney talks of the savings from ending wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Spending over $1 trillion and losing over 4,600 lives, both wars according to Nobel Prize winning Columbia University economist Joseph I. Stiglitz drove the economy into recession. Neither Romney nor Ryan wants to talk about over 4 million jobs added since April 2010—only what could have been.

    More LIES:

This is what Mitt the Liar is telling people in a fund-raising email: “The political director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee warned this week that the issue could cost Democrats the election.”

    Of course, it’s the opposite.

Ryan is definitely lying about this being under the radar because it was handled as a “constituent service”. I have written my repub congressman asking for things like supporting the ACA and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. His response? A resounding “No!” When they don’t want to do something, they will tell you “No!”, I know, because it happened to me, more than once. So if Ryan is against the stimulus, his office would never have sent a letter under his name requesting stimulus dollars. In addition, a $21 million dollar request would never be sent out by staff or without his express approval.

Exactly! This ia why I am absolutely convinced that the mainstream media have totally abrogated their journalistic responsibility of accurately reporting truthful information. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan know fully well that they can get away with telling lies because most in the mainstream media will never forcefully challenge their lies.

Other than that I have no idea what she could possible be talking about. We have President Obama with a list of accomplishments as long as my leg. Accomplished I might add with an opposition party that delayed, filibustered, obstructed, sabotaged and took hostages for his entire first term. We now have two empty suits running on the GOP ticket. Somebody has to explain to me exactly why this election should be theirs for the taking unless you literally mean STEALING THE ELECTION. This election should be a freaking landslide for President Obama. smdh

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) — himself a victim of a shadowy group attacking his military record — is coming to President Obama’s defense in a new campaign email to supporters.

“Seeing the new outrageous attacks made against President Obama from a shadowy Republican-allied veterans group called OPSEC, which take issue with the mission to kill Osama bin Laden, remind me all too well of the notorious ‘Swift Boat’ attacks I faced in the 2004 campaign,” Kerry wrote.

In 2004, an outside group called “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” formed to raise questions about his war record and air ads against him when he was running as the Democratic nominee for president. The ads didn’t run in many states, but they drew national attention (and earned media).

This week, two groups announced plans to air ads and video critical of Obama’s handling of national security, the war on terrorism and intelligence leaks within his administration. One of the groups avows political neutrality, but is run by a former Republican candidate for office. The other group is run by an avowed “birther,” who falsely questioned Obama’s place of origin in an interview with Foreign Policy.

“I honor and appreciate the service of my fellow veterans, but a false attack is a false attack — no matter who’s making it,” Kerry wrote.

“Throughout this campaign, Mitt Romney and his allies have shown that if the truth isn’t favorable to them, they have no problem claiming the opposite — and the reality is that President Obama has a foreign policy record that is among the strongest in recent memory,” Kerry wrote.

It’s the second time Kerry has lent his name to the Obama campaign this cycle. In March, he raised the specter of swift-boat style attacks against Obama in a campaign email, writing: “I know all too clearly that these guys will do or say anything to win. They’ll stop at nothing.”

I saw Chris Mathews show hosted by Michael Smerconish today and he had on a representative of the group that made the 20 minute documentary and ad as well as a Vote Vets (I think that name is correct) representative. The first guy came off in the questioning as if they gave credit to PBO and did nothing political. He sounded as if their group was bipartisan. All above board nothing wrong. The Voter Vets guy was outraged and said they left words out of PBOs speech. That PBO did give credit to the military and wasn’t trying to take the credit himself. MS showed a clip of PBO giving credit to the military etc. Said he went through the whole transcript and what the group was trying to do was wrong and a lie.
Ed Rendell said earlier that it would only bring attention to the topic and people remember what happened so it would not be a swiftboating like before. I sure hope that is true. I kind of think people have made up their minds one way or the other by now. We cannot give up though and need to work every minute.

I keep thinking of a strange comment made by Miss Ann in her haughty, hateful ‘You’re not seeing our tax returns because then you would attack us and we have nothing to hide and besides we’re The Romneys’ interview. About her Robot Lying husband’s campaign, she said, “He cannot do it without me.” That just sorta blew me away. I can appreciate the marriage team thing and all, but to say that about a candidate for president was really dumb. She diminished him, made him sound weak and unable to function without her, not something you want to hear about a presidential candidate since, wow—-there would be a whole world of things he would be required to do without her. She made them sound dysfunctional. Either he’s needy or she’s needy or they both are. And then I thought of another weird comment she made early on, when all the media was cooing about her and Willard had made his first couple of missteps and she said, “Maybe I should do all the talking from now on.” Just stuff I’ve been thinking about. I don’t think that marriage is as healthy as the media wants everyone to believe. And Miss Ann—–as it turns out, she’s not very likable at all—–she seems bitter and has “issues”—-self-esteem issues, for one.

    • 100 isonprize
      August 17, 2012 at 11:01 pm

Dotster, he *IS* dysfunctional. Seriously, he really is. He needs her and she LIKES it that way. As long as he was bringing home the bacon, she’ll do whatever she needs to. She has probably saved him from ever more embarrassing stuff than we’ll ever know.

Besides, she’s the equivalent of an enabler for an alcoholic. You know, the person that brings the alcoholic a bottle of tequila. She tells him what to say, and he says it. The problem is she is even worse than he is. They really ARE made for each other.

      • August 18, 2012 at 1:56 am

Personally, I think that Miss Ann is the person who is preventing the release of the tax returns. When Romney first released that partial 2010 return, I read that she was very unhappy about it. And I think she’s probably telling him that the little people don’t have a right to see how the other 1% live. I bet Romney’s advisors and owners are pulling their hair out because she’s laying down the law. I remember her making that comment that she should do all the talking going forward. She seems to be a shrew. And a lying one, at that.

I admit I do wish I was independently wealthy so I could just volunteer my help and aid, and not have to charge these beloved elders. Anyway: the days started well, arrived at the retirement community to be greeted by a familiar and favorite elderly resident, not sure how it started, I must have said something, I know I flashed my Obama-bling, and she started on a wonderful wonderful RANT about how disgusted she is with the GOP, and how they are ruining this country, and there just won’t be anything left for anyone, her grandchildren and great-grand-children will pay dearly! That was zesty and fun, but I had to get a move on to see my lady!

Later, there was a special Family Day lunch BBQ for staff, and one of the women had a chance to bring her little 16 month old daughter ~ gorgeous, I was really looking forward to meeting this little one! She was a bit shy at first, then was warming up to me; I told her my name and showed her my name tag, which was right below my Obama-bling pin! This clever child: got very excited to see the Obama-bling, reached out and patted it with her tiny hand, then leaned back, I asked for a High Five, and she High Fived me with the same little hand! It was just too wonderful, and a really fascinating to have a chance to see a little one so close! Of course I told her she must vote for PBO in November, oh wait, and then her mama and I had a good chuckle about maybe in 17 years or so! It was just so lovely! Then back to work I went!

If this is so, it is another example of Romney’s making money from other people’s despair. No heart!

Carolyn, this is NOT hypothetical or hearsay, the guy was a major shareholder and director of Stericycle. He will pay for this particular bit of greed in ways he and Princess Ann never, ever anticipated. Just wait.

    Got this from the DK…

Politico’s Charlie Mahtesian recently got his hands on an NRCC strategy video that was released last Sunday, providing advice to Republican campaigners on how to fight back the coming Medicare onslaught. You can watch the entire 10-minute presentation below if you’re a real glutton for punishment, but if you don’t want to, they break it down into five handy bullet points (although note that only three of those are usable action items):

    • Inoculate by pledging to save and protect Medicare; use credible third party validators (mom or seniors)
    • Collect hard evidence that your Democrat opposes repealing ‘Obamacare’
    • Create a clear choice with your Democrat for backing ‘Obamacare’ and $500 billion in Medicare cuts
    • Republicans can actually WIN the Medicare fight
    • Once Medicare is litigated, the race focuses on economic issues

So this is the plan, huh?

No mention that thos third party validators will address how repealing Obamacare will put seniors back in the red zone – reinstating co-pays for preventive care, opening up that donut hole again, re-enabling insurance companies to reject seniors with pre-existing conditions. And what about their grandchildren, many of whom are getting insurance from their parents’ insurance, and will be thrown off of that insurance if the GOP succeed in repealing Obamacare. It just confounding!

This was a night when Tweety was really in the zone, going into great detail about the ripple effects of the positions Paul Ryan takes on the rights of fetuses over women and calling it “radical social engineering.”

He points out that no matter what your moral or ethical position on abortion, you have to look at the legal results of these fetal personhood crusades. Kate Michelman talks about how Paul Ryan has been a major mover in trying to take away reproductive rights from woman.

Huffington Post also is turning the spotlight on Ryan’s anti-woman record:

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) cosponsored a bill that would give fetuses full personhood rights from the moment of fertilization, which was even rejected by voters in the socially conservative state of Mississippi. He voted to defund federal family planning programs, authored a budget that dismantles Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, all of which disproportionately aid and employ women, and voted multiple times to prevent women in the military from using their own money to pay for abortions at military hospitals.

Ryan also supported a highly controversial bill that Democrats nicknamed the “Let Women Die Act,” which would have allowed hospitals to refuse to provide a woman emergency abortion care, even if her life is on the line.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund said in a statement on Saturday morning that Ryan has earned zero percent on its women’s health voting scorecard, and other women’s rights group expressed similar alarm.

We already know what Republicans believe. Now we have to stop them from imposing those beliefs on the rest of us.

WINDHAM, N.H. — When President Obama visits Windham and Rochester on Saturday, he will, aides say, raise the specter of a sweeping Medicare change proposed by Representative Paul D. Ryan, the presumptive Republican pick for vice president.

Ryan argues that spiraling Medicare costs can be curbed through a voucher system that would pay seniors a fixed amount for medical care. But Democrats counter that cash-strapped elders would face thousands of dollars in extra costs and lower-quality care.

It is Medicare’s moment in the national campaign, and places like the Windham Senior Center show the strong emotions raised by the conflicting appeals.

Inside, the debate can seem baffling, and therefore unsettling. Few people interviewed this week knew whom to believe about Medicare, and even fewer knew the details of Ryan’s plan. But between card games, in a room dominated by a bingo board, they did know this: They’re worried.

Good! While Ryans Mutha is in The Williws in Florida, telling everybody my Son would never cut your Medicare, he is slamming Ryan fir just that.

Oh Brother- Willard started a Weekly podcast today saying, Obama robbed Medicare to pay for His HC bill, hint hint to give free stuff to the blacks.
If The Seniors fall for this, they are very gullible and sorry to say deserve what they get. Seniors need to Stop believing everything they hear.

Here goes Ron Mott covering the Ryan Campaign. Gee, couldn’t they have found a White Rich Guy, to cover Him?
Anyways, previewing His Speech, NO mention this Retirement Community is 75% Republican and Donates heavily to the RNC.
Nope! Instead, big speech, how he is Received matters, huge reception would be welcomed, blah blah blah!

G’morning Jovie. Are you watching this on CSPAN? Of course they will try to spin it as positive as possible for Ryan. We know it’s a Republican haven. Sarah Palin was a huge hit at that place in 2008. I don’t expect any different today.

President Obama Campaigns in New Hampshire

// President Obama makes two campaign stops in New Hampshire, in Windham and Rochester, where he will speak about what he says are fundamental differences between himself and Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney. The President has been focusing on the economy in recent weeks, and on his vision for strengthening the middle class, which he says differs from Mitt Romney, who advocates a more top-down approach. //

CNN is tanking faster than the failed North Korean missile/rocket launch. In their own poll, Pres. Obama leads Romney in Wisconsin, yet they declared Wisconsin a “toss-up state” But if Willard were leading, they would declare WI a red state and a Willard state. The fact they don’t realize how pathetic they are makes me chuckle. There really is no difference between them and Fox. Oh wait….there is. Fox hires more fake…oh I mean “real” blondes.

The kicker too is the TeaNN WI quickie poll is pres Obama at 49% and Romney at 45%…….and the bang of the story is 3% MOE…..
Math is Not my forte, however, 49-45=4. 4% points is greater than 3% Margin Of Error. Just saying.

So Toss-up would be within MOE, would it Not be Bobfr and Amk our fierce awesome Twitter gurus?
