ABC: Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign toasted its top donors Wednesday aboard a 150-foot yacht flying the flag of the Cayman Islands.
The exclusive event, hosted by a Florida developer on his yacht “Cracker Bay,” was one of a dozen exclusive events meant to nurture those who have raised more than $1 million for Romney’s bid.
“I think it’s ironic they do this aboard a yacht that doesn’t even pay its taxes,” said a woman who lives aboard a much smaller boat moored at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.

Mitt does not care
Congrats on 1st RanMan!
donna, thanks>>
Why should Mitt care when he knows that his supporters in the 4th Estate, who are rooting for him, will never hold him accountable.
whoa boy.
Tweet that to Lis Smith!
GTHOH
Remember Bush and McCain with the birthday cake during Hurrican Katrina? Gawd!!! They can let it all hang out now…..they might as well show show us the taxes and the party platform.
Bermuda flag, not Caymen Islands
I just checked …they look identical…..
We need to see which crest is on that flag.
I think it is Bermuda’s flag —Cayman flag has blue background. Same pesky problem there—-tax haven paradise

You are right….I didn’t even notice that…. ( duh )
Looks like abc got it wrong.
The boat’s name! Cracker Bay! Oooh Boy!
From the link……
The Cracker Bay is owned by Gary Morse, developer of the Villages retirement community. Companies controlled by Morse gave nearly $1 million to the pro-Romney Restore Our Future superPAC. Registered in the Caymans, the Cracker Bay has an impressive art collection and can seat 30 for dinner.
LL you made my day with this video. I am ROTF laughing.
You can learn a lot about life from Monty Python!
You Guys should Tweet this Article to Axelrod and Stef Cutter!
I’m sure they already know!
This is like a gift in their lap! They’re probably all over it!
The picture above says it all. I hope the PBO campaign will use it. Rich guy wants to be president who doesn’t pay taxes like other people, because he can use all the tax breaks other people don’t have, and he’s selling access to other rich guys so they can buy the US Govt. And his plan to fix the economy is to give more tax breaks to super rich like himself. The yacht, the flag, the party for billionaires, says it all.
You’re so right !!
YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This resides in the land of you can’t make this shit up. They all really really really want Romney to lose this election right.
Well, their goes Jindal Press Conference.
I would not be surprised, if he slipped and said it’s Obamas fault.
He’ll manipulate facts like he did during the bp spil.
WHAT’S THIS “WE” STUFF??
The very narrow “we” in “we built it”
By Jamelle Bouie
————————————
It’s not often that a major political party stages its key national event around a falsehood, but that’s the case for this year’s Republican National Convention. The GOP theme is “We Built It,” a derivative of President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” speech.
.
.
Given the GOP’s efforts to play on racial resentment, it’s hard not see a particular subtext to the spectacle the convention offers: throngs of older white Republicans, yelling that they built this country.
That’s not to say that “we built it” is racist — it isn’t. But you have to consider this riff in the broad context of the election. When looked at in light of all the other aspects of Romney’s Atwater-esque campaign, the “we” in “we built it” seems awfully narrow.

Talk about selling america to other countries.
So jealous! I wish I could be there to see the President speak!
And by the way, I am just really really disgusted by the racism that seems to have been let loose because of the RNC. The RWNJs have always been racist, but they usually keep it more subtle, now it’s really ramping up as we get closer to the election.
I really try not to hate, but I really hate and depise these ugly people!
Don’t feel guilty about your hate, pinkbunny. God don’t like ‘em much either !!
Goodness, said good morning on the last thread; got side tracked with real world work; went back only to find you guys had left me! I hate when PBO does Wednesday events. Wednesday is the one day of the week when I have “walk-in” office hours; hence, I’m at the beck, call, and whims of the general public…
Brownback concedes welfare attack isn’t true
By Steve Benen
—————————
Mitt Romney’s welfare lie was repeated quite a bit at the Republican convention last night, though the number of people willing to acknowledge its detachment from reality is growing.
Every independent fact-checker has rejected the lie, as have Bill Clinton and the Republican architect of the 1996 welfare reform law. When Newt Gingrich was asked to defend the claim, he conceded there’s “no proof” to support Romney’s claim.
As of this morning, we can add Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) to the list.
.
.
First, racially-charge lies aren’t funny. Second, “reasonable people” should be able to agree to at least try to tell the truth, and to stop repeating a lie once it’s been exposed as a lie.

Mitt Romney’s sister Jane, at a National Journal event, said he would not go for a ban on abortion as president.
Ok? Nope!
Here ya go Jovie!
Thank you.
Jovie, do you know when the registration deadline is for Florida? Will groups now have time to join in registering people?
Enthusiasm gap?
It’s almost as if Romney’s thumbing his nose at the American people. Banking on collective amnesia at the voting booth. Or, hatred of President Obama so great that anyone else, even a Cayman Islands tax-shelterer will do…
Rita, I don’ think Romney has a sense that anything he ever does is inappropriate. If he’s doing it, it must be right. I think that’s the sociopathic personality he has.
THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM – THE DANGEROUS AND FLAWED GOP PLATFORM
Chris Christie: The Elephant in the Room
BY Thomas Davis
————————————
The elephant in the Tampa Bay Conventional Hall at 10:30 pm Tuesday night was not Chris Christie. It was instead a combination of hollow enthusiasm, choreographed fist shaking, Ann Romney’s strains to scratch her left hand rather than applaud, popular myths, polite applause and Mitt’s outright failure to applaud.
Most important, it was the unspoken Republican Platform looming over the crowd, one that wants to create jobs by returning to the failed policies of George Bush, deregulation and tax cuts for the top 1 percent.
.
.
All in all my typical disdain for my fellow New Jerseyan was tempered last night. Somehow his usual bravado seemed to be a little lacking despite what appeared to be a valiant effort to thrill the Tampa crowd. The applause was tempered. Perhaps most telling were the responses of Ann and Mitt throughout Christie’s remarks. Both looked bored beyond belief and apparently forgot how to clap.
No, the elephant in the room Tuesday evening in Tampa was not Chris Christie. The real elephant in the room was and is the dangerous and flawed platform that the GOP has begun to implement and will continue to if given the chance.

Read this BJ piece by soonergrunt and spread it around.
Artur Davis steamed my hide last night. What a disgusting man.
waitaminute. while at the 99% white person attended republican convention mittbot holds a fundraiser on a super-yacht named “cracker bay.” this has to be joke.
Meanwhile, the Obama Administration keeps on keepin’ on with innovation in Energy:
The University of Maryland team chose to simplify the design of a standard wall-mounted air conditioner by separating the systems that remove humidity and provide cooling. After the students tested a fully functional prototype, they found that the design reduced energy use by 30% compared with typical wall-mounted air conditioners already on the market. Since the largest consumer of electricity in most homes nationwide is the air-conditioning system, this innovative design has the potential to substantially decrease residential energy use and save consumers money. http://apps1.eere.energy.gov/news/progress_alerts.cfm/pa_id=788
I love my President!!

GOP TURNED PRES. CLINTON’S SURPLUS INTO THE DEBT REFLECTED IN THE “DEBT CLOCK”.
The Big Lie: The GOP Reveals Debt Clock They Misplaced In 2001
BY LOLGOP
———————-
The Big Lie: The Republican National Convention will feature a debt clock to hold the president accountable for the mounting debt.
The Truth: Republican policies and the economy they created are responsible for the vast majority of the debt and the Romney/Ryan plans would only increase the debt.
One of the most notable decorations at this year’s Republican National Convention is a debt clock that counts the amount of debt that will be racked up from the moment the event opened. It’s supposed to be a visual indictment of the president’s policies – the result of “wasteful government spending.”
But the GOP’s debt clock would be more honest if it were captioned by the RNC’s current slogan: “We Built It!”
.
.
It’s nice that the GOP finally found the clock they misplaced in 2001. It would be better if they remembered who got it ticking again.

And while Robney is trying to maximize His White Reagan Democratic Vote, the AA community should want to Vote, just as much.
Just saying, 2 sides to every strategy.
