HI!
Congrulations, Elle! I thought for sure I’d make it to the podium before you. Well done!
Wow
Sometimes Secret Service pulls people’s hands off the President, and other times, they don’t. I’ve been trying to figure out the formula.
Little old ladies and babies get to touch him at will. Everyone else is suspect. Hmmph.
Yeah – that might be for the best. Although, some of those “little old ladies” seem like they might gobble him up!
I would!
Norfolk sure has changed since my time there.
In what way has it changed yardarm? I don’t know to much about VA.
Norfolk was part of the Jim Crow South when I was there in the late ’50′s/early 60′s. Blacks were confined to a small section of town and being in the military only meant that eventually you would leave.
Oh wow!!
@yardarm756: I have heard stories that still makes me cringe! Never stopped praying during the four years my son chose to go to Hampton University. Things have truly changed…
BIG TIME LDS, and we’re still not quite there yet.
Mr. President – You are loved.
Totally agree!!!!
FIRED UP!!!
Never going backwards to bush and bin laden!
You know, it’s hard to stay fired up when you are running after the action! That’s been me all day.
Love how POTUS is bypassing the whiny reporters and giving his home-brewed beer to people who actually matter.
I am sure they would love to have a bottle; especially Knoller.
And Chuckie.

Listening to Randi Rhodes and Robme and his dummy Lyin’ Ryan is using the “Are you better off” meme trying to compare this time and PBO to President Jimmy Carter and she is PUSHING BACK against these lies. I love Randi Rhodes so glad she’s back.
I’m sneaking a listen, too. She’s brilliant!
I don’t see how anybody can like any Pundit.
They all have their own separate agenda, for better or for worse.
That 11k Crowd size at NSU is pretty darn good, as they were registering Voters, as well.
This article is a doozy:
P.S. I have been keeping a diary at DK of all the media push-back on lyin Ryan, that I use to back up my arguments to false equivalency media types. http://www.dailykos.com/blog/uid:171348
The only way Paul Ryan was a Rage Against the Machine fan was if he just blocked out the lyrics. Moron.
Oh, LL I so needed a laugh! Love this article.
Wonderful to see PBO at Norfolk State. I’m sure they’ve felt left out of the presidential process, and it’s good to see those bright young people getting inspired by the best. (Co-worker is an alum of Norfolk State.)
Good news for Dudette and all the others fired up and attending PBO’s Thursday acceptance speech. No rain for event.
Here’s a tweet from a meteorologist that someone on TOD recommended last week:
Yay!
Alexandra Pelosi RNC Interviews 2012 on Real Time
Why is it no one is talking about the DNC? Everywhere I look someone is talking to a republican talking about republicans or using the stupid gop”are you better off” crap, or discussing the dems response to the stupid question. I guess I will just watch the convention on line and stay off blogs and twitter for the rest of the week. I’ve had enough.
Apparently, the media seems to think the DNC convention is all about the Republicans.
RNC was all about the Republicans. DNC is all about the Republicans.
Maybe you’re following the wrong tweeters.
Different story on my timeline.
S-C-A-R-Y!
These people are looooneeeeeeey.
Seriously. Isn’t it a sin to lie to the simple minded?
This bitch is still haunting my husband’s dreams. Literally.
OMG – the details are getting clearer: the big PBO-FLOTUS-VP-SLOTUS Friday event here in Iowa City will be right outside the building where I work!! As I said, OMG!! No time listed yet:

You lucky Ducks you! How great! Jealous we are, but kind enough to wish you all the fun you can stand!
VPOTUS just arrived in CLT!

HYPOCRISY ON LINE 1
Romney-Ryan Robocall Attacks Obama For ‘Changing Medicare Forever’
It’s despicable. I just heard it on Thom Hartman. “Taxes for everyone making less than $120,000/year, taxes on wheelchairs….” It’s horrific.
Tweet that to Lis Smith, she needs to know this.
It has been debunked multiple time by the fact checkers…..
And yet there it is in robocalls. What a shocker.
I’m sure they know.
The Obama campaign has begun airing TV ads in Ohio touting the success of the federal government’s intervention in the auto industry, declaring that “Ohio auto workers are leading the recovery.”
The as-yet-unreleased commercial, which was passed on by a strategist tracking the 2012 air war, begins with footage of a manufacturing facility, before a narrator says: “That’s what a comeback sounds like.”
“Ohio auto workers are leading the recovery, with autos supporting one out of every eight Ohio jobs and workers in 80 counties. That’s why President Obama stepped up, rescued the jobs, saved the industry,” the ad says, before asking: “What would Mitt Romney have done?”
The ad cuts to archival footage of Romney telling an interviewer: “That’s exactly what I said – the headline you read, which is ‘Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.’” And the kicker: “Where would that have left Ohio?”
Of all the big swing states on the 2012 map, Democrats feel most optimistic about Ohio. And not coincidentally, it’s also the state where the president may be best-positioned to deliver a positive message about his administration’s economic leadership. Polls have consistently shown that the auto bailout is a major positive for Obama in Ohio and Michigan, and it’ll be no surprise if it’s a significant part of the economic narrative in his convention speech Thursday.

Gotta, Gotta, Gotta have one of those t-shirts!!!!
CHARLOTTE — You see them everywhere on the streets surrounding the Democratic National Convention here: legions of women sporting bright pink “Yes, We Plan” T-shirts, featuring an image of a pack of birth control pills.
http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/09/planned-parenthood-yes-we-plan.php?ref=fpb
Love those!! Wonder if my local PP that I register voters will have them?
I wish they would sell them online.
Women are running the show!!
I’m behind on reading the previous post, but I think the real question is, are you better off today than if Romney would have been
President. There would not have been the auto bailout, programs for re-mortgaging homes that are under water, Osama still alive, wall street with free reign, etc…..
I heard the robo call on Thom Hartman too. Also just saw on FB that Husted (OH) will not announce early voting hours because OH is APPEALING the ruling. God, forgive me, but I think I hate these people.
It’s Ruby Bridges all over.
The notion that polls should be open and staffed but ONLY for the military who might be home that weekend, would actually be too much for even this SC.
hey Chips have you seen this graph on Andrew Sullivan’s page? it’s def something you should link to!
“Obama’s Ground Game Advantage”

Oooooooh, LOVE that graph Lamh, soooo encouraging – I’ve added it to the new Charlotte post, thanks a million!
They need to do a george wallace on this racist buffoon.
ohhhhhh this will be good…..can you see Federal Troops enforcing the right to vote…..deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep…..Oooooooo weeeeee…….
Tweet that to Lis Smith, and FBI.
Done.
This made my day:
Aww and LOL. So many meanings in that one pic.
Update on my mom: So early Monday morning, my mom went to ER because her heart was racing & she was having chest discomfort. The did a chest x-ray and the said she has bronchitis. Since she a little over 1 month ago had her heart attack and had the 2 splents put in, this morning they did an angio to look for found anymore blockage, and they found none. But they told her that what they realized was that her heart has suffered irreplaceable damage, and that it’s so damaged that basically she’s been diagnosed with Congesitive Heart Failure. They put her on LASIX & told her she would have to limit her diet & strenuous exercise & she would have to keep her stress levels down because her damaged heart is no longer healthy enough to sustain any big type of stressor (this is actually what my grandmother died from, she had CHF and the stress of Katrina was too much and she died 2 days later). If she couldn’t get the stressors down and stablilized, then the only other option and the last resort would be a heart transplant.
They told her that she does not need the transplant, and that she could actually live a long life, but she has to keep those stressors down and she has to keep on her diet…no splurges.
Keep us posted. It doesn’t sound great but it does sound management. Healing energy sent your way….
WE will all keep your mother and YOU in our prayers.
Hope you’re mom takes it easy — it’s hard to avoid all stressors. All the best.
DAMN, I REALLY NEED TO PAY ATTENTION AND EDIT MY COMMENTS…CHIPS IF YOU COULD EDIT THE COMMENT I’D APPRECIATE IT.
THE DIAGNOSIS IS CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AND THE MEDICATION IS LASIX!
Fixed it for you Lamh. I am so sorry, like Dotster not feeling well, I also completely missed the news about your mother and her health scare – she, you and your family have really been through it. Here’s hoping her medication will stabilize things and she get back to full health, wishing her all the very best.
prayers and serenity to you and your mom. Please take care of yourself.
Sending you lots of love and hugs and healing thoughts for your mom. I know you will take great care of her and so will the doctors. I understand the worry of a sick parent and that as their children we will do everything we can to help them live a long and comfortable life but please take care of yourself too, that is so important. Please know that you are treasured here at TOD and that I am sure everyone is wishing your mom well. You and she are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.
“LYIN RYAN” AND HIS COUNTER-FACTUAL UNIVERSE
Since When Did Paul Ryan Become a Liar?
By Jonathan Chait
————————————–
The thing about Ryan is that he has always resided in a counter-factual universe. He is a product of the hermetically sealed right-wing subculture. Many of the facts taken for granted by mainstream economists have never penetrated his brain. Ryan burst onto the national scene with a dense, fact-laden attack on the financing of Obama’s health-care bill that was essentially a series of hallucinations, pseudo-facts cooked up and recirculated by conservative apparatchiks who didn’t know what they were talking about or didn’t care. His big-think speeches reflect the influence of fact-free conservatives and collapse under scrutiny.
During the last couple of years, Ryan took his act to the big city, expanding beyond his Washington conservative movement base and pitching himself to a broader audience as a straight-talking avatar of fiscal responsibility. That he managed to pull off the feat was completely incredible. Ryan’s entire career had been rooted in the “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter” wing of his party, and he spent the Bush administration consistently pushing for even more fiscally irresponsible policies than even George W. Bush could bear, and then spent the Obama administration relentlessly killing any effort to ameliorate those deficits.

Good Afternoon TOD!
I’m so excited about the convention, I can hardly stand it! And would you believe that my boss actually expects me to WORK this week? LOL! It’s ok though because he is an total Obama supporter…the majority of the people in my office are, but were not allowed to talk politics. (Yeah, right!)
I was very pleased with Tweety’s documentary on President Obama. He done good. And I knew immediately that it was collegekay at the Easter Egg Roll!!! I shouted to hubby “Look! That’s collegekay! I know it is!”
How thrilled are we that the Kockroaches took their money and left Pennsyvania? Whose next?

LYIN RYAN’S THEME SONG
When You Tell One Lie….
Paul Ryan Proves He Can’t Speak Without Lying About Janesville GM Plant Closure
By: Sarah Jones
———————–
Proving he can’t speak without lying, Paul Ryan defended his previous lies about the Janesville GM plant closure being Obama’s fault by lying some more on NBC’s Today. This time, Ryan claimed he never blamed Obama for the closure but it’s still Obama’s fault and he claims GM is not alive, on the very day when all three automakers post double digit gains.
Oh prevaricating Paul.
.
.
According to the very conservative Forbes, Obama’s plan to save the auto industry did in fact work, and they have posted double digit gains, making Ryan’s last refuge for his Big Lie even more ridiculous.

NVM, I was wroooooong!
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/09/04/its-charlotte-time/
I’m better off than I was yesterday—–which started with getting up to the whole room swirling—-dizziness out of the blue—-I panic because I think I’m having a stroke or a brain tumor or west nile virus—–every horrible thing. Tried to gut it out all day hoping it would go away—–lightheadedness, horrible headache, nausea—-but it didn’t —–so off we sadly stumble to the ER last night—–I’m never sick and never go to dr. unless it is unavoidable. So—-that whole rigamarole there, every test known to man, including a CAT scan of my brain—-oh great!—-loved lying there waiting for them to come tell me I had to have a brain operation—–but turns out I have a benign something something vertigo—-prob originates in inner ear, which creates dizziness etc. Have some meds, which helps a little, but does anyone know anything about vertigo? Said it can go away after a week or 10 days, come back any time, stay forever, never happen again, all kinds of possibilities. Ugh. Said it was common, get over 20 cases a day in just that ER, people think they’re having a stroke, no real remedy. Anyhoo—–I at least feel good enough to check in here today. Would be really mad if I couldn’t enjoy the convention. So still a little dipsy doodle, but —-better off than yesterday. Fired up again.
Ah crikey Dotster, that is HORRIBLE. I completely missed that you weren’t feeling well, what a terrifying experience. I’d be a whole lot more than dipsy doodle after that! Make yourself cozy in front of the TV, the convention will raise your spirits – but look after yourself!!
hi dotster
i’ve had that, and my husband too. i think it’s called labyrinthitis. it’s scary, and there’s no cure, but it’s not dangerous or painful, and it gradually gets better over time.
what helped me was to not tip my head quickly in any direction. if you need to grab something from a high shelf, or from the floor, tip your head slowly. you’re giving the ear fluid time to flow and adjust. also, turning your head to the side rapidly can bring on an episode, so just be conscious of moving your head very gradually.
they told me it’s exacerbated by stress, and i have found that to be true. too much caffeine, too little sleep, too little water–all the usual stress culprits make it worse.
the bad-ish news is i still have episodes almost 3 years after onset. but they’re very rare now, and mostly when i turn my head to the right side while lying down. weird, huh? sorry you’ve had such a scare, but please be reassured–there is nothing wrong with your head, heart, or mind!!
aloha oe~
Yes, I have had vertigo. It was actually an attack, when I was teaching. I felt so dizzy and sick to my stomach, I told my students to leave, and as they walked out of the door, I fell. Fortunately one student was an adult woman who immediately notified people, the school nurse came, and said I needed to go to emergency. My best friend and daughter took me. It was a horribly rainy day, and people kept coming in who had been in accidnts, so for about 3-4 hours I lay on a bench…..I could NOT sit up without regurgitating everything….then the doctor checked me out…gave me medicine, sent me home, told me to stay home from school for several days and not to drive for sevearl days.
The medicine made me sleep, which was great, and about two days later I felt better. I did have a few small attacks in the next six months. I never travel without my medicine, but that was about 15 years ago, and haven’t had any problems since that six months immediately following that famous attack.
Sometimes vertigo is the result of a virus which attacks the ear, instead of the throat or head or……I feel fortunate for treatment and medicine. You will always be alert to any feeling of dizziness coming on. One woman who suffered with it fairly often, told me that if I felt it coming, to take 1/2 pill (meclizine is my medicine), take a nap, and avert it. It works. You will KNOW the next time this starts. Glad you got checked out and got help. Don’t drive for a couple of days…..take it easy…and you will recover.
Good luck.
So sorry to hear that you have been so sick. Please take care of yourself
Hellooooooooooooooooooooo Sam!
I think it’s the middle ear, but I may be wrong. Give the meds time to work. My husband has had it several times and then he didn’t have it again. I’ve had it a few times, too. Sounds like your work-up was thorough and they’re confident it’s nothing more serious. Be careful driving a car. They’re sure it’s not a middle ear infection?
