CNN: A new survey indicates President Barack Obama moved up four points following the Democratic National Convention last week, and now has a six point advantage over his Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
According to a CNN/ORC International Poll released Monday, 52% of likely voters nationwide back the president, compared to 46% for Romney. Just before the convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, Obama was tied with Romney 48%-48%.

CNN: Manufacturing jobs boom is for real
President Obama last week promised a boom in manufacturing and 1 million new jobs if he is reelected.
But is the boom for real? For high-paying, skilled manufacturing jobs, it just might be.
The number of job openings for skilled factory workers has increased 38% since 2005, according to numbers from the Conference Board that measure labor demand across industries.
More strikingly, the sharpest increase in postings for skilled workers – 152% – has occurred in the last three or so years.

From Reuters TV – One delegate’s voting rights crusade
When President Obama (and by extenstion, all of us as Americans) wins on November 6th, I hope to God all the detractors, media whores, emoprogs, and firebaggers GIVE THIS MAN HIS PROPS for enduring the shitstorm he has had to endure for the last 4 years. I don’t know many men or women who could have lasted this long. Not only did he merely last, but he has continued to lead, inspire, to motivate, to achieve, to work on our behalf, to give, to be strong, to laugh, to adore his wife, to love his daughters, to read our letters, to guard our country, to represent us well to the world, to EXCEL ON EVERY LEVEL! They’ve thrown it all at him, yet he continues to overcome. WE continue to overcome!
They better give this man his props!
i wholeheartedly agree with you, PJ. My little sister has completely disengaged from the everyday details of the campaign because of the media. She’s going to subscribe for Nov 6, so she can watch the media eat their words as President Obama accepts Romney’s concession. I can’t wait. President Obama has continued to be who he is – regardless of the chaos swirling around him. He has a lot to be proud of – and those of us who can see it are proud of him for being able to rise above it all.
Theo, I can so relate to your sister tuning out the media. I select a few media outlets and tune out the rest in order to keep my sanity. And I agree, I’m proud of PBO and his resolve. We’re gonna keep on moving forward.
Bravo, PJ, for saying so well every thing I feel and honor about President Obama. I’ve been around for some time. I’ve never seen a president who has been so disrespected as President Obama has been. And not just from fringe elements, but also from members of Congress, and from members of the Press. Yet, the President never stooped to their level. Instead, he continually demonstrated graceful leadership and determination to serve the American people, irrespective of their political ideology.
It’s really so gratifying for me to witness the respect President Obama receives from people in Ireland, the U.K., France, Australia, Ghana, India, Brazil, Korea, China, Russia, Japan, Indonesia and Turkey, just to name a few foreign countries he has visited. That is why I am puzzled by the vicious hatred of President Obama by the right, the left, and the so called mainstream media. President Obama has greatly improved the image of the United States world-wide. He has kept the nation safe from terrorist attacks. He saved the country from plunging into a deep economic depression. He saved an iconic American industry- the auto industry. He is bringing manufacturing jobs that had been outsourced back to America. He is leading America to energy independence by emphasizing alternative home grown energy sources such as wind, solar, bio-mass, etc.. He has advanced the Civil Rights of all Americans by ending DADT and and opposing the DOMA. And, He has been diligent in taking care of active men and women in uniform and their families, as well all the veterans who sacrificed so much on behalf of our country. As David Letterman said: “What more do we want from this man?”

PJ, all along the haters, whores and detractors expected him to give up and thought that if they could push hard enough he would break. We heard that frequently in the last year from the right–the doubt that he would even run, the hope that he would give in. Well, as in everything that has ever happened in this president’s life, his enemies and critics underestimated him. He does not give up and in fact draws incredible energy from the most difficult situations. When he said to audiences last winter that if they had an ounce of energy to help him win re-election, he had a ton of it. He’s shown time and again that he’s tireless, relentless and will push back harder than ever when the chips are down. These guys have never understood who they’re dealing with. And I hope that comes to bite them very hard in the posterior.
Amen, Jackie! How many “Waterloos” have they thrown at him and that he has survived? Such petty, hateful, spiteful little people. I’m so proud of PBO for keeping his head up and taking the high road.
Chips, why do you keep forgetting ‘The Other’? No doubt he/she/it is beginning to feel slighted – THIS, THAT and THE OTHER. O-kay? I haven’t seen you all day. Did you miss my noise? /careful how you answer there/

What a beautiful post……he endures because he can feel the love that is sent his way….I truly believe that love is an energy that can be transported through time and space unlike hate which is an energy that just festers within and finally destroys it’s inhabitant.
That would be to Politicaljunkessa….am going to quit posting while taking cold medicine
Fully agree, Kathryn,, I believe that is why he is still gaining momentum as well! He knows we love him! And the result of that love is kindness spreading in all directions! Living proof that a genuinely compassionate leader inspires compassion in the group consciousness!
Absolutely abominable! And the people threatening the Chief Justice are the same ones who claim to be devout Christians who love freedom, democracy, and the Constitution! I hope the majority of Americans will wake up during the 2012 election and vote against these evil people who intend to destroy the country if the don’t get their way.

‘ As I have described at the Princeton Election Consortium, the closest races are where your donations are most effective. Among the Presidency and both houses of Congress, the closest question is who will control the Senate. In all likelihood, the races listed here will determine that outcome. At present I recommend the first six candidates on the list below. They are running close races, so your donation will have a lot of leverage. ‘

Thanks UT! This is indeed fantastic news
Yes, great tweets there UT…
Thanks UT! You really do a wonderful job keeping us informed. The CNN poll is very encouraging, but we must not allow it to make us complacent. We must continue to work very, very, hard to ensure that on Nov.6 President Obama is re-elected. Victory is not going to be as easy as some people think.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Arizona’s Birtherpalooza Canceled Over Low Ticket Sales
// Not even the promise of crooner Pat Boone singing oldies from a spinning stage could save what was intended to be the premier birther event of the year later this month in Arizona. Organizers of the gala, which would have featured Boone alongside Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and some of the nation’s other prominent conspiracy theorists, broke the news online Friday that it was canceled “due to inadequate ticket sales.”
The Sept. 22 event was meant to bring together people from throughout the nation who believe Barack Obama’s birth certificate is fake and therefore he is ineligible to be president. Organizers planned to use it to call on Congress to take up Arpaio’s yearlong investigation into the documents. The announcement was disappointing to the few people who did plan to attend, as evidenced by a handful of web postings about the cancellation. It didn’t take long for true believers to spin elaborate conspiracy theories about why the event was called off. //

I cannot stand Pat Boone, so this is GREAT NEWS…karma, oh karma! Those people are total racist fools, & this country is tooo good for them. #FORWARD & leave all the trash behind in their gutter of their own making – ha! Tks for putting that bit in hopefruit
pat boone is still alive??? i remember him singing ‘bernadine’ when i was in elementary school. gosh, you’d think he’d really boost the rethugs! bwaaahahahaaaa!!
“You people” are so funny!!! Mr. Boone must be ancient, that’s for sure.
Probably the most sensible advice of the night, no matter how much I want to slug champagne after these polls:
As I tweeted earlier:
Ah, great tweet LL! As a stupidly obsessive poll watcher I know the numbers can change with the breeze, so I’m trying not to get too excited. The best thing, though, about the post-convention polls is how they’ve fired every one up – even more – and given everyone a huge lift. Priceless.
That’s the thing. These great numbers aren’t making anyone complacent, but instead firing us up to CRUSH Romney and the GOP. Nothing less than a total demolition of the Right will do. There were 25 very amped people at my phone bank yesterday, and we’re going all out.
Great to hear LL, so encouraging. The GOP’s desperation is a sight to behold, eg:
Romney: If I become president of the United States, I will not take God out of my heart, I will not take God out of the public square and I will not take it out of the platform of my party.
http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/09/10/823311/in-new-stump-speech-romney-suggests-obama-is-anti-god/
Even uglier days ahead, I’m sure, cornered rats are vicious things. But hopefully this kind of stuff will see them well and truly destroyed in November – and beyond.
When I get the email with the figures for the phone bank, I’ll post it here. From what I was seeing, we were getting a lot of Strong Obama calls.
(Of course, “a lot” is a relative term in phone banking, where getting 15% of people to even pick up the phone is stellar.)
We got 94 Strong Obama of 899 calls made during my phone bank yesterday. We were calling Colorado from California. And like you, I’m surprised we got so many to answer the phone. Interesting enough, the angry folks who would first refuse, then say they were Ron Paul supporters. They did not say they were “strong Republican”. We actually got more Ron Paul voters than we did “strong Republican”. If I had to guess I would say these folks are staying home in November.
Is this an invitation for all atheists, etc. to renounce their citizenship, then? And which God will be acceptable to the GOP? All versions, any, select few, one? These people need a basic civics class.
It’s incredible stuff Theo, every time I think they can’t sink any lower you get something like this. Ugly, desperate, vile people.
…And what does any of it have to do with jobs? The GOP need to be crushed in this election.
Exactly what RWNJ does Romney think he doesn’t have, that he stoops to this? We’re supposed to leave his cult — I mean religion– alone but he can spew this garbage.
Are their internal polls that bad on the base?
“Are their internal polls that bad on the base?”
That’s exactly what it sounds like 57, if this is all they’ve got …. wow.
I agree with you LL. it is VERY important that we CRUSH the Repugs in the House and Senate!!!
No, we’re not going to get complacent. But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy this moment!
That’s right Chips – we won’t get too complacent! In fact, we’re just more FIRED UP to knock on more doors, make more phone calls, send more donations, post more tweets, correct more MSM lies….
Nope, we’re not about to stop…we’re JUST GETTING STARTED

Chuck Todd was twisting himself in a pretzel with the most ridiculous (and verifiably false) explanation for PBO’s convention bounce and Romney’s lack of a bounce. What a dolt!
hahahahahaha..
That is hilarious……….Who is this ” smart ” pollster he speaks of ?
that is the lamest excuse I believe I have ever read…Lamer than the dog ate my homework…
Chuckles out did himself on that one …
Or maybe the Dems had the superior better convention. Jeez!
Fuck you, Chuck Todd.
When YOUR candidate loses ground? When every delegate entered the convention full of enthusiasm? When every speech spoke to ALL of America and your candidate spoke to the Cayman Islands?
Fuck you, Chuck Todd.
Someone tweet this twit that if GOPers have been consolidated by Romney how come they hardly mentioned the dude during their convention speeches.
Is Chuck Todd campaigning to be be Mitt Romney’s Press Secretary in case he wins? I hope he knows that he will face fierce competition from David Gregory.
Just wanted to remind all of you who tweet to RT Steve’s Tweet and spread the video to everyone you can …
Apparently, this ad seemed to have very been effective in Ohio.
This ad would be effective ANYWHERE! It’s absolutely chilling
Re-tweeted!
this ad is devastating
I found the DNC’s latest ad tying Mitt to Steve King, the most extreme teabutt on immigration and rape.
The House is having a hearing on the Presidents GREEN programs, calling it an acting to the economy.
You know, I think they just do things to piss us off, line a scorned teenager!
You are an absolute star for tweeting all this, UT. You make it so easy! I mostly just retweeted the likely voter numbers. What seems interesting to me is that the registered and the likely voters seem awfully close – I wonder if that means that most registered voters are actually planning to turn out? Thank you for doing this!
Expect Executive order on Cyber security, early next month…
GE O’S. Guess what? I have tickets to see President Clinton tomorrow evening. He is having a rally at Florida International University. I have never seen him in person. Kind of looking forward to it. I hope he does well like he did at the convention. YEAH!!!
Wooooooot, fantastic auntsis522! Have a great time!
Alright!! What a nice “get”! Enjoy it!
I shook hands with Bill Clinton here in OKC in 1996 at a rally. He looked me right in the eye while he shook my hand. He has boundless charisma. Hillary was there too, and I got close to her, but didn’t get to shake her hand. They are a powerful couple. Wwe saw the President in 2007 when he was just beginning his run. He was powerful then too.
Ann Romney convention dress cost over $1900.00 dollars.
And it was made by that asshole Oscar de la Renta who badmouthed FLOTUS, because she wasn’t following “tradition” and wearing his crap (dumb way to earn a new client). To this day FLOTUS still hasn’t worn him. Good for her!
FLOTUS gives new young designers a chance, Oscar de la Renta, you entitled jackass.
She can afford it. The real scandal is that the money she spends was made on the backs of ordinary Americans – by taking their pensions, their livelihoods, etc.
Who cares? It was a waste. Expensiveness does not mean exquisiteness. Michelle’s dress was exquisite
Well……it wasn’t worth it!
Hey TOD. What I observed from this new very detailed CNN poll is that it correlates strongly with the CNN, USA Today and Gallup polls from this same period in 2004. The incumbent (George W. Bush) was leading in all the polls at this point over Kerry and we all know how that election turned out. Pres. Obama is leading in Reuters/Ipsos, Gallup, Politico, CNN, and the swing state polls. He has been leading all summer. No matter how much the media or the Romney camp tries to spin this, these are the facts. The trends are very positive for Pres. Obama and with the latest crap from Romney about making sure the word ‘God’ stays on coins, I have to imagine their internal polls are worse than this and they are panicking.
The thing is, we can’t know how effective their voter machine rigging and voter suppression efforts will work. It’s critical that everyone gets registered and every one votes.
Absolutely! This is not the time to relax about registration and GOTV! Besides, in politics, two months are a life time; especially when you have to compete against an opponent who has more money than you. The only polls I will be comfortable with are those that come out the weekend before the Nov.6 election day.
Yup – Nov 6 is the only poll to watch. Ever since this morning, I’ve been hearing about the Chicago teachers’ strike and how it’s going to impact the presidential election. I don’t understand the issues on this one, but it surprises me that people could have an issue over the strike and decide that they’re going to forfeit their future, knowing that the Republicans want to end the Dept of Education and break up unions. Anything can happen between now and Nov 6 – and the right wingers know that real domestic power doesn’t reside with the President – it resides with Congress and the local offices and governorships. Every single day will count, and every single dollar.
The House will also Vote on getting rid of TSA!
It’s almost line they want an Attack, an invitation?
Even more good news for Pres. Obama.
That’s good news for John McCain……..(LOL) I couldn’t resist.
According to RealClearPolitics (sigh… I know, I know): Claire McCaskill leads Todd Akin by 5.5
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/senate/mo/missouri_senate_akin_vs_mccaskill-2079.html
She should be leading him by 100. You just have to shake your head.
Precious!! I like that “don’t mess with me, fool” look!

Looks bleak money-wise
http://www.opensecrets.org/races/summary.php?id=CA23&cycle=2012
I know this was discussed earlier, but I’m still not happy about the whole thing——-somehow, as the right wing has been pushing, and the news media was all too happy to oblige, the Chicago teachers’ strike has somehow morphed into Obama’s fault and Obama’s problem. NBC Chicago’s coverage, with its selected quotes, was helpful in this regard. They showed some teacher saying sarcastically, “Tell Rahm’s big buddy, President Obama, that he needs to do something about this!” This was just after another teacher was quoted saying she never thought she would see the day when a mayor sided against teachers and parents and students. And then they showed Willard deplaning from his “air craft” in Chgo for a fundraiser and of course added his idiotic, insincere, accusatory 2 cents on the strike. Very slanted media coverage. Not good. Hope they can get some kind of settlement soon.
Harold Ford just said that Our Beloved President will win? I know that he will win but am surprised that Ford said it. Hmmmmmm. Interesting.
