Me too. I have a pre-existing condition, I have employee provided health insurance but the co-pays are so high that I have to “save up” to get preventative care like mammograms, paps, etc. By the time the doctor takes blood , sends it to the lab, and all the preventative care treatment it cost me over $2K out of pocket. I still need glasses and dental care which is another $1K out of pocket. In some cases, I’d be better off without employer provided healthcare.

Under ACA all preventive care is now supposed to be covered 100%, no co-pays. That includes mammograms, paps, colonoscopies, bone density scans at 65. If you paid this year you should complain. This applies to all policies renewed in 2012

OMG! Nailed him! And his glib answer just came out without any thought. Cold, no compassion, heck, no intelligence either. I’m stealing this and broadcasting far and wide. This needs to get full air time. I’m still seething over “you can’t play the game like that.” My husband has a heart condition and he lost his job. I thank God everyday that I was able to cover him on my insurance because guess what, he tried ti get insurance by himself and he wasn’t able to. Each every insurance company he tried, rejected him. This is another example of how out of touch this guy is. A prime example of the culture of entitlement that comes with a life of privilege.
Gosh… still so upset over this…

Yes! It is a hard problem to solve. That is why it hasn’t happened in all the years past presidents have tried. That is what makes me livid in thinking of repealing it and trying again.
First off this plan is comprehensive not a band-aid. The GOP would just do a band-aid and the least amount they could get by with because their main goal is to privatize everything giving control to the corporations (this case giving it back to the insurance companies). That would be another case of no regulations and look at the problems we solved with ACA from the insurance companies having their own way- lifetime caps, pre-existing conditions, high costs not aimed at medical care…

HEADLINE: The Boycott Against Obama’s Bear-Hugging Buddy Is Failing Miserably

// When Scott Van Nuzer got caught up in the moment during President Obama’s Sunday visit to his pizza shop in Fort Pierce, Florida, little did he know how quickly the Yelp army would mobilize. On Saturday, Big Apple Pizza had just two reviews, but at the time of this posting, that number had grown to 1,059. Of course, Obama being a Democrat and this being an election year, not all of them are five stars.

“I will not eat from traitor’s hands and I’ll never take food from man who DIDN’T BUILD his business,” reads a one-star review from a Yelper in Las Vegas. “Went there during my summer vacation. It was nasty. Not surprised the owner is an Obama hack!!” reads another, also with one star. There are few more, too. Apparently, some anti-Obama trolls were trying to mount an assault against Big Apple Pizza on Yelp, launching their one-star reviews like Sidewinder missiles into hull of Van Nuzer’s reputation. Too bad they were outnumbered. Like, really outnumbered //

He’s now received so much support – and so many pizza orders – he’s asking people to donate to his foundation instead.

On a side note, I read an article today from a financial paper where it was suggested that if Canadians could vote, from a pure financial stand point, they would go for PBO as his policies are better for us. USA is the largest trading partner for Canada (even tho Harper is courting the Far East, he/we finally got invited in, (sniff)). Robme is too extreme. The most important thing is to vote as early as you can in your state. The Teabaggers are gonna try to create chaos at some polling places so go early. Make sure, everyone understands they MUST VOTE the STRAIGHT DEM slate, even in those races where they claim they are nonpartisan. This is absolutely critical.

If the ballots are longer than most people want to deal with couldn’t they just vote for President and a few spots and leave the rest blank? I know my Mom is 88 and wanted to vote in the primary but does not research any more so was confused on how to vote on the things she was not current on. I suggested just voting on the parts she wanted to vote on and leaving the rest blank as she was almost deciding not to vote at all.

Excellent job by Leno. It’s so easy: ask a question and follow-up. It’s amazing that the so-called news media can’t do even this. As far as Willard goes, he’s digging himself a hole so deep with his nonsensical, babbling responses that I don’t know if he’ll ever get out. It must totally suck to be talking against a concept you once championed while someone else has turned it into a big success. He’s so foolish because he is so soul-less.

I saw that interview Leno did with Mitt and I was surprised more wasn’t made of his heartless answer at the time. It was basically the same as Alan Grayson said of the GOP healthcare plan: if you get sick, die quickly. I hope this clip goes viral because it offers a clear glimpse into the heart of this depraved man.

  23. September 10, 2012 at 10:43 pm

This tape of Romney on Leno is cringe worthy. It hurts watching him talk about this in this bain way.
It’s almost chilling the way he talks about it. His handlers need to make him watch his interviews.
What does he mean, “we can’t play this game like that”? it’s not a game for me people who are sick
and at their most vulnerable states. I don’t get how people can still consider him a respectable and
acceptable alternative to the leader of the free world.

Wendy Rosen, a Democratic congressional candidate challenging Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), withdrew from the race on Monday after the state party confronted her with evidence she voted in both Maryland and Florida in 2006 and 2008.

Matthew Verghese of the Maryland Democratic Party told TPM that officials were alerted to the potential issue by someone within the party on Friday. After verifying the allegations by checking Rosen’s voter files, Verghese said, party officials confronted her on Monday morning after she returned from the Democratic convention in Charlotte. She offered her resignation shortly thereafter and the state party referred the allegations to law enforcement authorities.

Listening to Romney’s hard to fathom response reminds me of an article I read today, about the transformation of a ex-Republican. It gives an insight into the mindset that allows Mitt’s response to be acceptable. Very enlightening article. Maybe if we understood their point of view we would be better equipt to reach out to some them.

Rin Jaken, this was a great article to digest. Truthful, heartfelt and revealing. This man has really grown, I have to give him credit. I don’t know if it would have happened if he had continued in his comfortable environment though. I have often felt that some of my Republican neighbors are more like overgrown boy scouts than adult men. They are not bad people, but they have lived in comfort all their lives. They are not hateful teabaggers but they just feel the world is ordered in a certain way and they want to keep it how they like it.

      • September 11, 2012 at 1:52 am

Walking on Sunshine, I completely agree. Most people do not willingly step out of their comfort zone and those who are shifted out are to busy fighting against the change rather than opening their eyes to see the wonder around them. It takes time for full acceptance, but we don’t have the luxury with Nov. 6 fast approaching. How do you convince someone who wants to go back to the “innocence” of the 50′s that the 50′s was a horror for so many.

My problem with Romney is not what he has accomplished in his life, but how he has done it in the past and how he is trying to do it in the present. Lies and every other dirty trick in the book. What face are we showing our children and the rest of the world? Who would trust us?

Keep the party going, but volunteer with the campaign where you can. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!! Knock on some doors, or make calls (you can even make calls from home) help with data entry. Connect with your local field office. “Cuz even if you don’t want to do those things, there is ALWAYS something to be done for the campaign, Democrats and President Obama!!

He took a swipe at the entire media circus (although, he shouldn’t have excused himself). They are all lacking. Remember, Chris Matthews is the one who did that “President of the World” nonsense on Bill Clinton – but still blames President Obama for not reversing the consequences of Clinton’s presidency.

Thanks Bob – this needs to be front and foremost in the media. Mitt can’t win on his record, he can’t win on his policies, he can’t win on his personal appeal – so it seems he is left with his god – and that won’t go anywhere fast. It seems he is not going to lose gracefully. The full meltdown will not be pretty.

I am amazed every day that the President ignores these personal attacks and continues on with talking his policies and attacking the R&R policies. Both sides DON’T do it.

another site for poll info, chock-full of goodies:

‘ With early voting already started and both conventions now history, let’s take a look at where we are now. Here is a graph of the electoral college score since January, including all states, even those within the margin of error (this graph is updated every day and is available under the “Electoral vote graphs” link).

It is hard to look at this and conclude that Romney is ahead now or has been ahead at any point during the year. The Republican National Convention was Romney’s first big shot at shaking the race up but nothing much changed as a result of it. If Obama gets a bounce that lasts, it will only reinforce Romney’s status as the underdog. Romney’s next big chance is the first debate, on Oct. 3 in Denver. He is already preparing hard with Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), playing Obama. For Obama’s preparation, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) is playing Romney. Here is the full debate schedule. ‘

As head of polling and focus group research for President Obama, David Simas of Taunton says he’s “like a human nerve-ending” because of the dizzying array of numbers and videotape he constantly scans.

The work also keeps him isolated at Obama’s reelection headquarters in Chicago, most often speaking with the campaign’s senior management.

But last week Simas made several public appearances during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., including one at a breakfast meeting of the Massachusetts delegation.

It provided rare – if assuredly optimistic – insight to the campaign’s private perspective on the state of Obama’s race with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

While the presentation was before the release of a CNN poll on Monday that showed the president receiving a post-convention bounce, Simas told the delegates the fundamentals of the race have been stable for the past six months.

    Very insightful!
