Great speeches from bothe POTUS & VPOTUS.
Very nice Pictures Chips, thanks!
You’re welcome Jovie, I loved them too, such dignity and respect.
CNN and Fox did not show the President at the Pentagon, but they did show Boner.
CNN showed the President; it was MSNBC that kept replaying scenes from 911 for their annual entertainment.
“it was MSNBC that kept replaying scenes from 911″
Don’t these creeps ever think of the relatives and what it must be like to watch that footage and see those images again? Disgusting.
It boggles the mind Chips. It boggles the mind.
It really does UT. No doubt their justification is they want to ensure people ‘never forget’ – as if anyone would, especially the relatives.
I turned on the tv getting ready for work. I had MSN on from the night before. I have to admit I got totally caught up watching and remembering that day. It was a horrible start to my day. I could not for the life of me change the channel. Yuck! What is my problem? Yuck!
Cheney just hit the President on Leaks…
Why is the Press interviewing Cheney?
To distract the public, from him- not keeping America Safe, that’s why!
They asking him about the Valerie Pflame leak ?
Cheney the torturemaster should go back into his cave and stay there. Despicable man.
jovie141, So what Romney have dug the sly torturing fox out of his hole. Who’s next G.W. Bush?
After reading this NPR interview with the president, I have greater respect for president Obama. It is scary also to know that the shot fired at the white house last year hit a spot that he would usually sit at. http://www.npr.org/2012/09/11/160898373/inside-obamas-decisions-from-libya-to-lunch

Wow, anameti. That story hit me like a ton of bricks. It’s another sobering reminder of what an awesome responsibility we’ve placed on this great man’s shoulders and how there are still evil people out there who would do harm to him. I’m grateful to him for all he does to keep this country moving forward together, when he could be someplace living out a quiet comfortable life with his family; and I’m grateful for the men and women who work hard to keep him safe for us.
The excerpt about the shooting incident and Libya was very powerful indeed.
I heard that this morning, too, and it sent a chill down my spine. Imagine how he must have felt knowing his kids live in that house. Remember, they were out of town or out of the country at the time, and the girls were at home with their grandmother when this happened. I love that it’s still his favourite place in the White House, though, and that he’s got someplace where they can be outside, in “plain view”, but still relatively safe and connected to the world outside the bubble.
Maybe they need one of those clear bullet proof protectors on that balcony railing area.
I took over a new class two years back and the first thing I noticed when seeing the list is that two of the kids there were born on 9/11. That looked so weird, because it doesn´t seem 11 years away and I still remember that day so clearly. I was at school, spent some time with my friends in the city because we were making plans for a classtrip we did a few days later, my dad fetched me from the bus station by car and said something about an accident in New York, we heard the news of the second plane hitting on the radio and that was when we knew something was wrong. I remember exactly what I had for lunch that afternoon in front of the tv and whenever I talk to my students about it I always tell them that´s the best sign to see we were numb and under shock that day, because having lunch to the news is as perverse as it gets there… I remember my sister coming downstairs complaining because she wanted to watch something else on tv and thought this was actually a disaster movie…
I just want you Americans to know that we suffered and grieved with you that day. Most of us had no personal connections, but still.
I remember the next day I went to school, students gathered in the break for spontaneous prayer and we got into a fight with our maths teacher who complained we hadn´t done our homework the day before. I remember when a few days later we did go on that class trip and met Americans on the train to Italy who were surprised by how much we cared. And I remember many of us wanted to light candles at the Dome in Naples and were upset they were electric lights and no real candles.
It has taken years for me to get my mind around this, I think I never completely will.
But to all of you out there let me tell you we were with you back then.
And we still are. Every year.
that is very touching Niliathiel… thank you.
My 20 yr old brother died on this day long before 911 occured… so I already mourned this day for many years. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my best friend’s death, one year after my brother.
today I prefer to celebrate Proud’s birthday instead
Have a lovely day~embrace your life Proud.
Also: Isonprize: Congratulations to you! So happy for your adventure and grateful you’re on the side of our President
Best wishes~
Thanks for sharing your stories Niliathiel and sherijr. Sherijr, I hope you’re able to find comfort in the memories of your loved ones and that you can be encouraged by the knowledge that they felt your love and that you are loved.
I agree with you — it’s important to remember those we lost, but also to celebrate life, embrace it fully and to honor their memory by being and doing the best we can. I wish you peace today and always.
thank you Dudette ~ my brother was an awesome kid, who would have been a great asset to society.. I miss having been able to know him in his adult years, as a husband, a father.. which is what I think of regarding the loss we all suffered on 911- the inhumanity of it all, the lives cut short that could have offered the world so much.
Thank you Nilithiel for your touching story and yours too Sherijr.
My niece was born Nov 2001 and will be eleven yrs old this year. I also remember another child born this year but won’t turn eleven….Little Christina Green who was killed in AZ to meet Gabby Giffords that January morning. She would be eleven today and is now a little angel in heaven. My condolences and prayers to all the 9/11 families and those that lost family.
Although I had just received my green card in July 2001, I was just substitute teaching and was off that day. I found out later, that Canadians had opened their homes, towns to the planes that were unable to land in the US. Even though I was not yet American, as I am now, I will never forget what I saw on tv that day, and how much I cried. Today in class I had my 8th graders write a reflection on 9/11 after I gave them the facts of that day, one of my students wrote that her grandpa’s brother was in the World Trade center that day, and from where they found his body, they knew he had been one of the jumpers. I felt so sick and down after reading that. 9/11 touched so many, many lives.
MITT ROMNEY’S EPIC INCOMPETENCE
BY MICHAEL COHEN
===================================
I’ve been following politics for many years; I’ve written a book on presidential campaigns and I’ve delved quite a bit into the minutiae of the 2012 campaign. And I’m increasingly convinced that Mitt Romney is the worst national politician I’ve ever seen.
.
.
When asked by Gregory about the budget sequestration agreement, mandatory spending cuts, including to the Defense Department budget, that are part of the debt limit deal signed by President Obama and passed by Republican House last summer, Romney said this: “That was a big mistake. I thought it was a mistake on the – on the part of the White House to propose it. I think it was a mistake for Republicans to go along with it.”
This is a fascinating statement, not only because Romney attacks the White House (this is basically pro forma) but he is also attacking the 201 members of his own party in the House of Representatives who voted for the sequestration bill, including his own running mate.

Hope44, I agree with you. They have always made us proud, not whining and complaining like certain others about how someone is picking on her husband. POTUS and FLOTUS have always shown class and dignity despite all the crap they have had to deal with. So proud they are representing our country.
Paul Ryan voted AGAINST the 9/11 First Responder Bill 3 Times in 2010
On the House Floor Ryan said the Bill was a new “ENTITLEMENT” program
That needs to be tweeted all over creation.
Linda, the media should ask Paul Ryan about this. How can you be so eager to give more money to the rich, but people who put there lives on the line to save other people, who suffer some illness, or sickness or injury because of them reaching out to help others, to people like Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney it seem to be something wrong with wanting to help those people. But when it comes to putting more money in the pocket of billionaires and millionaires, Ryan and Romney have no problem with that. But yet they have the nerve to talk about their religion.
AND he had the nerve to meet with first responders today. I don’t know he can look at himself in the mirror.

Lovely memorial for 9/11. Hard to imagine how many lives were touched by that horrific day. The memorials must be a great comfort to those who lost loved ones and those who died or suffered and are still suffering. Our prayers are with all of you.
in the aftermath of 9/11 the world, and the country, were truly united as one. “”united, we stand” remember that? it was a moment in time where i thought some sort of notion of world peace was possible. and what did the republicans choose to do with this historic opportunity? they did the exact opposite and within 6-12 months, anti-american sentiment was quickly on the rise across the globe, and americans were divided once again. makes you wonder if that was the plan all along, since they had many warnings it was going to happen and literally went on vacation…for a month!!! and to top it off, they launched an extreme propaganda strategy, dutifully run by “the media,” to aggressively brand any criticism of their nefarious plans as “unpatriotic” and “treasonous.”
every republican in your family or circle of friends enabled this horror that eventually became the iraq invasion. that’s just a fact. and who was warning people loudly against this exact thing happening even at the height of the rabid republican propaganda? barack obama. each one of us has the opportunity right now to end this madness over the next two months and make sure president obama gets a democratic house and senate. remember, these are the last two months any of us will be able to campaign for barack obama in our lives…ever. ready to go!!!
Well said 4more~
Sobering: ” these are the last two months any of us will be able to campaign for barack obama in our lives…ever”.
Wow, you’re right. Let’s make them count! #Landslide 2012
PPP has been retweeting all the furious tweets they’re receiving for reporting polls showing an Obama advantage. Every single profile I’ve checked of the spitting mad, vile anti-Obama, anti-PPP tweeters reveal a religious extremist.
CONGRESSMAN PAUL RYAN ATTENDED THE STRATEGY MEETING TO BLOCK THE AGENDA OF
——————PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA ON INAUGURATION DAY – JANUARY 20, 2009
Robert Draper Book: GOP’s Anti-Obama Campaign Started Night Of Inauguration
By Sam Stein
——————————–
WASHINGTON — As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington.
The event — which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured — serves as the prologue of Robert Draper’s much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, “Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives.”
According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), PAUL RYAN (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) — who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz.

Reminder why you should never link to or ‘turn on’ CBS …
Paul Krugman on why Romney won’t divulge his plans: “Why would be do such a thing, and expose himself to the criticism he now faces? Well, why should he have expected this scrutiny? Paul Ryan has been running around for years with a supposed fiscal plan constructed largely out of magic asterisks, and got hailed as a Bold Truthteller. Romney must be asking why the rules have changed.
Apparently, though, they have. And because Romney went with the assumption that he would never be asked to put up, he is now in a position where he can’t.”

MITT ROMNEY KNOWS A LOT ABOUT CREATING DEBT
As Matt Taibbi said (paraphrasing) reporters need to ask Mitt Romney why he is complaining so much about the debt when “creating debt” was exactly how he made his fortune.
That Matt Taibbi Rolling Stone article isn’t getting a lot of play, but it was epic. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/greed-and-debt-the-true-story-of-mitt-romney-and-bain-capital-20120829
New post everyone:

Good Afternoon, Os: I am getting ready to see President Clinton. I am not really excited about this event. The main reason is that I don’t trust him. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn’t muck it up. The other part is purely generational. I never got the excitement about him. Those women who say ‘he makes you feel like he is talking you only’ – were just wishing he would jump on the ‘naughty mat’ with him. LOL I will report back later. Chips, if I take pictures I will send.
Gotta catch up on today’s readings before heading out. Have a good day!!
I feel the same way about Clinton.. I voted for him & supported him, but never saw the ‘sex appeal’ either. And I too hope he doesn’t ‘muck’ it up. Looking forward to your report Aunt Sis~
OMG I thught I was the only one who had these thoughts…I believe that if he didn’t have to do this he wouldn’t…
Good Afternoon Everyone.
My thoughts and Prayers are with our American Friends and all who perished on that fateful day.
The World will never forget.
Thank you for this. I love the dignity and grace of our President and First Lady. I was almost brought to tears by the little AA boy who was holding a rose and wearing a button with a picture of a woman, who I assume is his mother. I kept thinking even after the tragedy of losing his mother, his eyes are stilled with hope. I just love that picture so much.
Sorry for the double post but I just noticed something about one of the pics – it’s the one of PBO & FLOTUS standing in the center with the WH staff on either side. One one side, it looks some of the staff are from facilities based on their uniforms. They are standing closest to the President. I think this says so much about our President’s awesomeness and makes me love him even more.
