TPM: …. we have two simultaneous crises washing over Washington from the Middle East. First, the US-Israel blow up …. Next, riots which escalated into full-scale attacks on US embassies in Cairo and Benghazi….
…. In the midst of this, the Romney campaign put out this statement …
“I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It’s disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”
So Romney jumps to politicize a genuine crisis in which a Foreign Service Officer has been killed. And the attack itself is based on a falsehood …. The entire thing is based on a lie….

Steve Benen: …. The Romney campaign, which dismissed foreign policy as a “distraction” yesterday, now hopes to exploit the violence to advance Mitt Romney’s political ambitions.
…. I genuinely want to know what kind of person sees a foreign attack on Americans – an attack that has reportedly led to four U.S. deaths – and thinks it’s acceptable to lie about the violence to gain a few points in the polls. The campaign isn’t going Romney’s way right now, but is that an excuse to exploit the death of Americans with cheap rhetoric? In the face of violence abroad, this was Romney’s first instinct?

Steve Kornacki (Salon): Mitt’s shameful Libya statement
That it’s fundamentally dishonest hasn’t stopped Mitt Romney from repeating his central critique of Barack Obama’s foreign policy over and over – the idea that the president “went around the world and apologized for America.” So it shouldn’t be surprising that Romney’s response to the attacks on U.S. diplomatic installations in Egypt and Libya was rooted in the same caricature of Obama as apologizer-in-chief.
…. The foolishness of Romney’s reaction is glaring. Pretending that the statement from the U.S. embassy in Cairo was anything other than a completely understandable and reasonable attempt by its occupants to save their own lives borders on disgraceful. Romney’s implication that the statement was issued at the height of the attacks is also false; it was actually released earlier in the day, a preventive measure aimed at keeping the protests from turning violent.

Michael Tomasky: An American ambassador, Christopher Stevens, is dead, as are three other Libyan embassy staffers; public servants who answered the call for service to their country and the world in one of its most dangerous places, and who paid the ultimate price for it.
….. So what did Mitt Romney do? He politicized it of course. He issued a statement blasting the State Department for its statement condemning the film – a statement that was issued before the violence erupted. And he was cutesy about it. The statement was given to the press last night (i.e., still Sept. 11) around 10 pm, but the campaign asked the media to wait until 12:01 am to run with it, so that this partisan attack would technically happen on September 12.

This is just beyond belief:

President Obama:
I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America’s commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.
I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.
On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya’s transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.
The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.

Morning everyone

Good Morning everybody.
Morning JER, morning everyone.
Disgusting! I think I’m gonna be sick. Loved Chris Stevens. He was a heroe during the uprising there. Peace, J
If the murkans still vote in this cowardly scummy shitstain, then they fully deserve what’s coming to them.
Hiya amk, these people are truly the dregs of humanity. Just when you think it’s not possible for them to sink any lower, this.
Of Course, from the Previous thread, the Media is not reporting the facts, only making it between Robney and the President.
And the News is subtle in their disdain for the President. Hello Chuck Todd!
I can’t stand this phucking media. They’re just as dangerous as Mitt Romney and the GOP. We have to challenge this media once and for all otherwise this country will implode shortly.
I totally agree with you hopefruit! The U.S. corporate media is a disgrace. But so is the Republican party.
Mitt Romney and his team are the scum of the earth. Before the attacks took place, the State Dept. released a statement condemning the movie. At no point did Pres. Obama ever apologize on behalf of the protesters before and after the attacks had taken place but what does Mitt Romney do? His campaign releases a disgusting statement politically attacking Pres. Obama on 9/11. They sent this crass statement to the media and requested the statement be embargoed until 12:01AM on 9/12.
“I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi,” Romney said in the statement. “It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”
They then requested the media release the statement on 9/11 and the Obama campaign replied back at like 12:01AM. For a presidential candidate to use the death of an American ambassador killed in a violent attack to launch a crude, vile attack on Pres. Obama on 9/11 says a lot about that person as a human being. Mitt Romney has no character and no moral values. This is beyond the pale.
Bush advisers. Of couse, this is all placating the Tea Bagger Vote. They were already going 2 Vote anyways, just how many times does Robney think the Tea Baggers, can Vote?
“Mitt Romney has no character and no moral values.” Absolutely, UT.
How is the Media reacting? Is CNN backing up Robney?
I am not watching this crap, it’s infuriating, so please keep the updates coming?
Your doing a good job!
utaustinliberal, your tweets are always so great, thanks. I am wondering if it’s a good strategy and if there is room to always include a CC to a media person so it simultaneously puts pressure on the liar and the media to call out the liar. Here’s some of the media that I am now regularly including in some of my tweets:
.@markhalperin
.@JohnKingCNN
.@sullydish (andrew sullivan)
.@chucktodd
.@HowardKurtz
.@theFix (chris cilliza, WaPo)
.@markknoller
.@morning_joe
.@hardball_chris
.@wolfblitzer
.@buzzfeedben
I am sure bobfr could add to this list. There has been a sea change, all thanks to Lyin’ Ryank, so that the press is feeling some pressure to point out the lies.
RT’d all yr tweets. Thanks for saying all that I had in my mind about this situation.
Excellent UT, I followed your lead:
Bravo Chips! So RT’D. What Romney did on 9/11; 9/11! is to disgusting for words.
Chuck Todd backed down from his stupid false equivalency crap about both campaigns playing politics on 9/11. He received pushback on twitter for his ridiculous tweet (See Upthread) and now he’s saying that he’s appalled that Mitt Romney and his team would release a crass attack directed at Pres. Obama and play politics on 9/11. That he’s appalled that they would send emails to the press on 9/11 directing them to release his statement to the public on 9/11 without fully knowing all the details. He said they committed a costly stupid mistake because they are forever trying to one-up Pres. Obama but what they revealed about themselves was that they are not ready for the world stage.
Thanks UT for pushing back on Todd. I see that others on Twitter have pushed back on him as well. Chuck Todd must have been hugely embarrassed on Twitter and elsewhere for him to backpedal like this. And it’s high time that these Romney staffers in the media feel the sting of public humiliation. Their behavior is dangerous.
I am glad to see that Chuck Todd CAN be embarrassed by twitter.
UT – thanks for doing such an amazing job with twitter pushback. You’re gutsy – and fast!
Really, he said this … he went so far as to say Romney and team are not ready for the world stage (which we knew)? Thank God for some sign of sanity in Todd and his actually putting it out there. Whew!
That’s a huge admission for Chuck Todd–huge. Great job UT and all tweeters.
There you go, my girl. Well done.
Thanks UT and everyone else who for exposing the stupidity of media people like Chuck Todd. It’s the media that enables Romney and his despicable supporters.
Morning….I woke to a man made clusterfuck! WTF is WRONG with this pathological liar and pond scum? MSM BETTER DO THEIR JOBS!
DF you expressed my feelings exactly! Morning all…hope the day takes a better turn.
Looking forward to this:
A quick reminder: Wednesday, Sept. 12th at 7:30 p.m. ET President Obama will speak live via video feed to national volunteer leaders here:

Please remind us when the time draws near.
Hi oh master tweeter! I’ll do my best to remind you.
In the meantime, use the link to register.
I signed up for this call today:) Looking forward to it.
And I’m listening to John Fugelsang filling in for Stephanie Miller this morning, and the ugliness continues and grows. I have never, never seen anything like it. Not ONE Republican leader is acting like citizens, acting responsibly with decency. And yet, no matter what, they will have a huge voice in the next Congress at the very least, and have infected state houses throughout the land. It’s terrifying.
I wonder if my parents felt this afraid during the McCarthy era, when you don’t know if your country will return to sanity.
Once again, as always, religion/religious extremism is at the root of every bit of tragedy, unrest in the world. And this insane bigoted “pastor” and the self-identified Israeli Jew real estate developer/filmmaker are guilty of purposely stirring up hate and of murder. And Romney and the RNC, with their blatantly false and crazy charges against President Obama over this incident, have proven they have not a speck of decency or integrity. It is indeed insane that Romney is a candidate for POTUS. He needs to be condemned and run out of town in shame, never to surface again.
Again, he is trying to placate the Bagger Vote. Robney has a Campaign Event in Florida, no less, in 1 hour.
He is going to pour gas on the flames, you watch.
No, jovie, he is not placating the teabaggers. At this point, the scum has become one.
Either way, it’s all about the Tea Party.
They have blood on their hands.
Yes they do.
I think that pastor should be charged with incitement and some involvement in their murders.
Good ad! Cookie cutter but effective.
http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/blogs/bostonspirit/2012/09/romney_a_wimp_not_so_much_acco.html
It was 2004, after the Supreme Judicial Court had cleared the way for same-sex couples to obtain marriage licenses in Massachusetts. Governor Mitt Romney remained a roadblock, endorsing a constitutional amendment that would ban it.
Julie Goodridge and other plaintiffs in the landmark case had written a letter to the governor, asking for a meeting. He ignored it, so they staged a press conference at his office to read the letter to the media. That, finally, got them through his door. Once inside, they were shocked.
For about 20 frustrating minutes, say those in attendance who Boston Spirit interviewed recently, they shared their stories, pled their case, and tried to explain how equal marriage would protect them and their families. Romney sat stone-faced and almost entirely silent.
“Is there anything else?” Romney asked when they finished. With that, the meeting was over.
“It was like talking to a robot. No expression, no feeling,” recalls David Wilson, one of the plaintiffs in the case who met with Romney that day. “People were sharing touching stories, stories where you’d expect recognition in the other person’s face that they at least hear what you’re saying — that there’s empathy. He didn’t even shake his head. He was completely blank.”
Occasionally Romney would say something.
“I didn’t know you had families,” remarked Romney to the group, according to Wilson.
The offhanded remark underscored that Romney, the governor of the first state prepared to grant same-sex marriage, hadn’t taken the time to look at what the landmark case was really about. By this point the plaintiff’s stories had been widely covered by national media — in particular, Julie Goodridge’s heartrending tale of how her then-partner, Hillary, was denied hospital visitation following the precarious birth of daughter Annie. It was the ignorance of these facts — and Romney’s inaccurate, insensitive answer to her parting question, that pushed Julie Goodridge to her breaking point.
Ohio is not lost, ask OFA where it is!
Morning all. Looks like the word of the day for Repugs is desperation.
Woah….shut the front door. Joe Klein (writer for Time Magazine) is strongly condemning Bibi Netanyahu and his ego driven rants against Pres. Obama. He said that he has never seen a supposed ally of the U.S. strongly and cunningly trying to push the U.S into another war (in this case war with Iran) especially as the U.S. is in the middle of a very serious election. He says he’s disgusted by Bibi Netanyahu and the Likud party and their constant drum beats for war.
He also says he’s disgusted by Mitt Romney and Bibi Netanyahu coming together to misrepresent Pres. Obama’s position on the Israel-Palestine conflict. He said that Romney keeps saying Pres. Obama wants Israel to accept the 1967 borders solution and is throwing Israel under the bus but that’s not what Pres. Obama advocates. Pres. Obama said that Israel and Palestine should come to a two state solution using the 1967 borders as a foundation and making sure they come to a decision about mutually agreed upon land swaps.
This is incredible to watch. Joe Klein is pissed off at Bibi and Romney. Pissed off. He’s disgusted that Romney bows down to Bibi, has no backbone and is doing all this just to level baseless and crass attacks against Pres. Obama.
Jovie, if he hasn’t got the bagger vote sewn up by now, he should call it a day. I don’t see how this despicable behavior gets him further with most decent Americans. Not one word from Romney about sympathy for the families, not one word about the courage of our diplomats and the threat to those in other locations from two idiots who fanned the flames of religious intolerance with their ugly movie. This man is not fit to hold a row office in a small county. That he’s considered a serious candidate for president is a disgrace to this country.
Tell Robney that, I am
Just telling you what his line of thinking is, and it is most likely, spot on!
Wow, UT. Could this be the beginning of a mini age of enlightenment for some media, after living in the dark ages for years?
Heads Up TOD: First Lady Michelle Obama will be on the Dr. Oz Show today. Check your local listings.
Thanks ut for the reminder – I set my DVR since last night
I didn’t want to verbalized my suspicions yesterday but when I heard about the manmade Egypt and Libya uprisings I smelled the stench of a GOP rat. Remember the Georgia/Russia matter during the 2008 campaign? They would risk our national security to win,
At this point, I wouldn’t put anything past them. Just look at the mess of this week – Bibi Netanyahu stirring up war. Video released denigrating the Islamic faith, most certainly intended to cause chaos. Russia now suspicious of all future presidents and using that as an excuse to stop negotiating in good faith and cooperating. Cheney making an appearance to criticize President Obama on 9/11. These are not coincidences.
agreed.
I suspect our President will give an official press conference before he goes campaigning today.
Early Heads Up: First Lady Michelle Obama will be on the Rachel Ray Show on Monday, September 17, 2012. Check your local listings.
PM CARPENTER GIVES THE QUINTESSENTIAL DESCRIPTION OF MITT ROMNEY – “A MORAL ABOMINATION”
A moral abomination
By pm carpenter – June 7, 2012
——————————————–
There no longer exists any doubt that Mitt Romney intends to win the White House by conducting the most dishonest, unscrupulous and reprehensible campaign ever devised, in mere whimsy. The unethical stench of this man is not only breathtaking, it’s meteoric. I have never seen anything like it, never heard anything like it, never imagined anything like it.
.
.
It’s only June, and Mitt Romney has already exhausted all the hideous possibilities of a Dorian Gray mentality that would make even Oscar Wilde blush. Moral. That’s this pathetic, vile little pol’s new favorite word. Moral. Here’s a man who leads a party that endorses torture as well as unprovoked war, and coddles the rich while showing indifference to the poor. Moral.
Combine Gray with Elmer Gantry and you’d still come up short of the “moral” abomination that calls itself Mitt Romney.
——————————————–
http://pmcarpenter.blogs.com/p_m_carpenters_commentary/2012/06/a-moral-abomination.html
That’s brilliant Ladyhawke, and even truer today – thank you.
“In mere whimsy”…. Absolutely spot on, mr carpenter…. We shall re-circulate this for the GOP, shall we?
Ladyhawke, PM Carpenter is spot-on! Romney is ” a moral abomination.”
I know I am starting something here and I apologize in advance but I have a burning question…..If you are Jewish and an American Citizen is your loyalty to Israel or USA?……..IMO, if Israel then of course you would pay attention to Bibi N. and want USA to go to war….If USA, give me one reason why you would want USA to be involved in another war in the Mid East….I truly would like an answer to this question beyond…it’s complicated.
There are Jewish Americans who want the U.S to go to war with Iran on behalf of Israel. It does not depend on their loyalty to Israel or America, it is because they are hardline traditional conservative war hawks. There are Jewish Americans who have come out and strongly condemned Bibi. Their political leanings are center-left and left. There are Israelis young and old in Israel who condemn Bibi for continuously banging the drums for war and there are those who support him. For the Jewish Americans I don’t believe they see it black and white as loyalty to Israel or loyalty to America. They view the situation through the lens of their political ideology, social and cultural values, and their beliefs.
So what it seems you are saying is……If you are a Jewish American who supports Bibi’s stance on war you are probably going to vote for Rommney anyhow…..If you do not support Bibi you are more than likely going to vote for Obama….so….my next question is….what advantage is it for Rommney for Bibi to get involved with our elections?
There is no advantage for Romney (or Bibi) but as is the case with GOP logic, they will do anything they see fit to try and one-up Pres. Obama. They never learn from their past failings.
Sooo, what is your own answer to your own question ? Let’s hear it before we hear others’.
Netanyahu doesn’t represent all Israelis. Many Israelis are against war.
I am glad YOU said this and not me. But, I agree with you!
The myth that all American Jews are AIPAC supporters MUST be put to rest. Of course, this has been perpetrated by AIPAC.
Most American Jews are weary of this acrimony and would welcome a sane, balanced peace. American Jews are loyal Americans.
However, tread lightly: I know what you’re trying to say and I’m answering it (as an American Jew). But the fact that you would consider that all American Jews would consider owing their allegiance to Israel rather than the U.S. is inflammatory, although I don’t believe you meant it to be that way and you were only looking for information.
Sometimes we forget how beaten down many of those folks are. Many of the previous governments particpated in keeping them that way by keeping them jobless and uneducated. So there’s a lot of respect but also grievance against America because of their support of previous regimes.
Religion is often trodden folks only consolation and encouragement during hard times. To insult their religion is to insult that, and I’m not surprised that some folks riot. Not that I excuse rioting, of course. But there’s an old saying, “waving a red flag in front of a bull”, regarding unnecessary provocation. Someone who has a decent regard for the opinions of humankind would try to avoid that sort of thing.
My condolences are to those who we lost last night; may their families be comforted by good memories and the fact they died doing their duty the best way they can.
Ironically, it’s a good thing we now know what a reckless, heartless leader Romney is before the election. Better than hiding it and finding out much later that that’s the kind of person he is as President.
Agreed. Not all american jews are rw fuckwads, it’s the opposite, majority of them are dem supporters. Let’s not tarnish the whole set of people because a few nuts like this film producer and a nut n yahoo.
Exactly! The majority of Jewish Americans supported President Obama. Some of his closest aides and advisors are Jewish. I get e-mail from J Street, a progressive Jewish organization that opposes the drums of war against Iran. The leading voices calling for war against Iran are the neo-conservatives who dominated the Bush administration and the extreme right wing so-called Christians.
Exactly, I don’t believe that and am not trying to inflame at all…I am not Jewish but have a Jewish son-in-law who is a BIG Obama supporter…even he can not answer the question other than to imply Romney and Bibi are so clueless as to think that loyalty to Israel will prevail and sway the Jewish vote to Romney. I just am struggling trying to accept that someone running for President of USA is so absolutely dangerous and unpatriotic and wanted to know if there was another answer.
I knew your heart was in the right place, and you should be free to ask an honest question here. If the only Jews Republicans talk to are Adelson and Cantor and never bother to read or talk to anyone else, then Repubs think this crap is going to work.
The last time they tried this b.s. PBO went up even higher with American Jews. Yes, there are RWNJ Jews but they are not the rank and file at all. Most of us are good liberals and have been in the fight for civil rights and fairness going back to the 30′s.
I have always said about Israel, “This is no way for Jews to act.” Believe me, I understand that Israel believes its existence is in peril and this is not an unfounded feeling. However, the reality it, there are Palestinians living in the same land. You ARE surrounded by Muslim nations. Find a way to work together already! Accept some reality. Being the oppressor accomplishes nothing.
This was a good, educational question. There is very strong support from many Jewish quarters both in the US and abroad – as evidenced by the praise that President Obama received when he helped the Jewish people who were trapped in their embassy during a similar incident last year, as one example. But, as with everything else, the loudest voices are being amplified, even though they seem to speak to/for a tiny little extreme group. They are the same as those blacks like Cornell West and Condi Rice, or those Latinos like Marco Rubio or Suzana Martinez, or gays like Dan Choi – they make a lot of noise and declare themselves to be the leaders of an army – but nobody is behind them.
Very well said, theo.
ROMNEY’S “UNETHICAL STENCH”
BY Andrew Sullivan – June 8, 2012
—————————————–
He favors a constitutional amendment criminalizing all abortion, total repeal of Obamacare, and will not stand by even a gay national security spoeksman if it means offending the religious right. This is who he “is”. If a line will work against Obama, he will use it, regardless of its truth. Because there is no truth in Romney’s world. There is only advertizing.
There is something increasingly chilling about this shape-shifter, isn’t there? He views himself as a product to be marketed to different audiences at different times. And the actual content of that product is completely malleable. It can change as swiftly as Mormon doctrine, when market share is at stake. To predict Romney, in other words, you simply have to merely examine the market he’s selling to.
As I noted once before, he doesn’t just believe that corporations are people; he is a walking corporation masquerading as a person.
———————————————
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/06/romneys-unethical-stench.html
“he is a walking corporation masquerading as a person.” and I might add, not doing a very good job at masquerading as a person.
OOOOKAY, GUYS. Very interesting thing here. Ok, here goes…
I’m looking for a job, right? Particularly a part time data entry job. So I go on washington post jobs.com and enter in all my information. I get an email back from an employer, a RIGHT WING political data entry/donation company. They’re looking for data entry people to key in donations.
It’s real easy to get the job, too. All you need is to be a good typist and be a HS grad, that’s it.
Here’s the company’s website: http://cmdi.com/
this is a rhetorical question of course, but should I apply? LOL HEll naw, man. I don’t aid the enemy, not to mention be around nasty crazy people talking shit about Obama all day. No thanks.
Take the job and donate some of the money to Obama.
This is a hard one, given the damage that the Republican party has caused and still plans to do against real people and the soul of this country. If you need the money, then do as Jojo advised. I am very stubborn, and I draw very deep lines that I will not ever cross. Personally, I would drink sand before I would aid the Republican party – they are pure evil, and so is their cause. But, if you’re desperate, then you have to go to the line you believe in, and do what is necessary.
I’m not huge on conspiracies, however, the film being toted by Terry Jones was created by an Israeli producer……
“The movie was made by Israeli producer Sam Bacile and has been promoted by controversial pastor Terry Jones, the controversial Florida preacher whose Koran burning in March 2010 led to the deadly violence in Afghanistan.”

They need to arrest somebody here.
Has anyone on twitter noticed this? When you tweet and your tweet gets sent, the twitter webpage normally refreshes itself so that your tweet is at the top of the page. Now, when I tweet, I have to scroll all the way to the top of the page and click on the space bar showing “75 new tweets” or “20 new tweets” to see the new tweets. Did Twitter freaking mess with the system and change stuff again?
Hmmmm, the only time I’ve noticed that is if I’m RTing from another site. But twitter has definitely been glitchy for about a week. I don’t know if they’re doing more upgrading or what but it’s definitely got issues.
Thanks Meta!
Hit “Control” and “Home” simultaneously. That should take you straight to the top.
And if you’re ever re-tweeting a bunch of tweets — say, gleaning the best from an active hashtag — not having to constantly scroll down again can be useful.
THESE RECENT ATTACKS IN LIBYA AND EGYPT SHOULD NOT BE A SURPRISE. WE DO NOT KNOW WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE…THESE UPRISINGS ARE PERFECT MOMENTS FOR THE DARKER FORCES OF CONTROL TO TAKE OVER. THIS WON’T GET BETTER! THE RIGHT WINGNUTS ARE PUTTING OUT SOME HORRIBLE THINGS AGAINST PBO…BRING ON THE DEBATES…I AM SO TIRED OF THE NONSENSE,RACISM AND HATRED IN THIS COUNTRY!…:( MERELY DISGUSTED HERE!
these benghazi and cairo attacks are very suspicious. i see articles saying it was about 20 people attacking in libya, and a few hundred on cairo, where many of them were described as a group of teenagers who are often just stirring up trouble for the rush. the security forces are describing the attack as totally out of the blue and surprised them. the one in libya was also highly coordinated with skilled precision.
now seeing how republicans are trying to spin this horror in their favor, it seems pretty certain to me this is a dark-ops operation from the military industrial complex/cheney/bush/bilderberg cabal. why do these odd, unexpected, nonsensical attacks seem to happen when republicans are in political trouble? wasn’t there something like this during this point in mccain’s failed campaign in 2008?
and then trying to figure out the reason for these attacks…some bizarre movie no one has heard of by some fringe people?!? there clearly isn’t some big uprisings in these countries about this. all of this makes no sense whatsoever. thank god we have president obama in there to take of it, and he will.
Not from Our Military! Sorry, that is not correct. It might be a paid mercenary, or a Merc. But, not our Military!
During the 2008 campaign and even after Barack Obama won….when he was asked about these type of situations….his response was.
” We have one President at a time in this country ”
Mitt needs to take that advise and shut the heck up.
I certainly don’t remember this outrageous, bordering on treasonous behavior when the U.S.S. Cole was attacked. This is new, this is poisonous.
And it’s dangerous. Deadly.
And now of course the guy that made the anti Islam movie is in hiding after the shit storm he started. He wants to throw the rock but hide his hand.
PBO TO MAKE STATEMENT AT 10:35am

Yup!

Last night Kornacki kept saying Romney can still win….Romney can still win.
I don’t like him
Maybe episodes like this will finally galvanize these people to our side. Politics is one thing, but when it threatens our national security it is no longer amusing to watch.
While I don’t believe that is true, we still don’t know the effects of all those voter ID laws will have on the results. Kornacki has generally been supportive of PBO, but he sometimes gets worried and panics.
He gave it to the purée at 10pm but told them not to release it till 12:01, so as to prevent people saying he broke his promise about no campaigning on 9/11.
And half hour later, the Romney camp told the media to release their bat poop nonsense. They did. That was still on 9-11 anniversary and it was before the Libya attacks that killed 4 Americans.
isn’t it the weirdest thing that “the press” allows a campaign to dictate what “the press” should do?!?

This is going to be another shitpile that helps sink Romney on Nov. 6th.

For the GOP, it’s Dial “S” for Suicide, or not
By pm carpenter

Politico has a doggone good roundup of all the mooing, bleating and baying coming from Mitt’s ornery herd. Most of the complaints are familiar. Not being a Twitter addict, I had not heard this one though:
Two prominent GOP strategists who have worked for Romney in the past, Alex Castellanos and Mike Murphy, have thrown up their hands on Twitter with apparent frustration at the trajectory of the Republican’s campaign. When Romney’s team put out a memo Monday urging reporters not to make too much of Obama’s post-convention poling numbers, Castellanos judged it “a bit weak.”
Alex must want to squeeze a few more consulting dollars out of Romney Inc. Because the memo wasn’t “weak.” It was idiotic.

Oh what a sad day! My prayers are with the families of those who were killed. My thanks to God that we have the right people in office to see us through. WTH was Romney thinking? Romney who is willing to turn the Middle East policy over to BiBi, should not even be allowed to tour the WH much less live in it!
So now Willard’s foreign policy advisor is blaming PBO’s foreign policy for the attacks on Tuesday…….wow.

I read the same thing and wondered why Romney’s camp embargoed his statement. Even with the embargo in place Romney still couldn’t help himself, he’s so hell bent on attacking President Obama that he will place himself in a vulnerable position to do so.
“Yesterday:
An adviser to Mitt Romney referred to foreign policy as a “distraction” in this year’s presidential election. While President Obama’s campaign continues to focus on the administration’s foreign policy successes and the lack of national security experience from the Romney ticket, Romney aide Robert O’Brien accused the Obama campaign of “going from one shiny object to the next:”
Robert O’Brien came from the Bush Administration”
Robney doubles down on Russia, being number one Geo-Political foe!
Does this Guy have a clue?
NPR had an “expert” on this morning, reinforcing this theory, trying to stoke up fear of Russia and Putin. I was shaking my fist while driving. They’ve become so transparent.
Yesterday we noted that Mitt Romney, down in the polls after the convention, was throwing the kitchen sink at President Obama. Little did we know the kitchen sink would include — on the anniversary of 9/11 — one of the most over-the-top and (it turns out) incorrect attacks of the general-election campaign.

Hope you’re right as that has been his strength. Women have been and continue to lean towards re-electing President Obama.
Good morning, everyone. I woke up to a CF that has taken me about a half hour to wrap my head around, it’s so conflated and despicable.
THIS is Romney’s “suspend the campaign” moment. He is TOAST.
Yes he is!!!!
My sentiments exactly! Tell him to go away & stop bombarding us w/ thousand cuts idiot-cide.
hahahahahahaha! Effective mix of metaphors!
Hillary up on CNN live feed
Mitt Romney makes me physically sick. Never have a witnessed a presidential candidate so desperate for power and totally devoid of human compassion.
Ditto. I can’t stand Liars. Romney is one messed up lying bishop.
New OFA Ad-
http://www.politico.com//blogs/burns-haberman/2012/09/obama-keeps-filling-in-romneys-blanks-135273.html
The ad, which will air in Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia, cites a study by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center and asserts the Romney-Ryan plan will raise taxes on middle-class families by an average of $2,000 per year.
Hillary’s statement is good.
You can see in her face and hear in her voice control that she is deeply saddened and pissed off.
The 3am call. When it came on 9-11 anniversary for Romney…….Instead of saying….we Only have One president at a time…..as then sen Obama said repeated in 2008….., Romney failed. This is a total failure on Romney’s part. He is Not a leader. And he will Never be elected POTUS.
Romney at the microphone. TV off.
I’m not able to even listen to the man’s lying voice anymore.
It’s just too much.
Obama/Biden 2012
Just a few minutes before the president speaks. He has some nerve….
I missed it. What did he say?
Why is Romney making a statement now? He is not president.
He is the President of the Tea Party!
Yes – and shame on the media for airing a statement on a topic of national security before the President issues a formal statement as head of state. With each day, the GOP destroys US global credibility as an example of democracy.
might i suggest those on twitter shine equal light on the reince preibus statement, and tie that slimeball to every single republican running for the house and senate. this is the party leadership saying terrible things!! the public needs to know this. it’s the entire party, not just a few bad apples!
Chuck Todd is really doing a good job, calling out Robney BS and explaining the issue.
Bravo! For once…
I think Chuck Todd is fed up with Romney, just like Andrea Mitchell was with Senator McCain in 2008.
I think Chuck Todd is tired of being laughed at by Chris Matthews. (CM was openly laughing at CT regarding the difference of the two conventions.)
WITH EVERY WORD SPOKEN BY SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTON, THE ROMNEY-RYAN CAMPAIGN LOOKED SMALLER AND SMALLER. THEY HAVE DEMONSTRATED THEIR TOTAL LACK OF FITNESS FOR THE OFFICES THEY SEEK.
It is ashame how low Mitt Romney and his campaign will sink. If Americans haven’t seen yet that Romney is a bold face liar who will say anything true or not, my question is what the heck is wrong with the American people?
Heads up everyone:

Nevermind my question up thread….I have my answer….Unpatriotic and dangerous are “nice” words to describe Mitt Romney….After seeing that VILE person on tv as if HE was POTUS, I am retiring to bathroom with a major stomach virus he gave me. I just can’t wrap my head around all of this…
Kathryn..I don’t know if you will see this (I’m just catching up with all the postings)…at first I was mad, then it turned to sadness for the death of those people, then I saw Romney s[speak…I started shaking, my heart was racing and I threw up. This hits hard at a deep visceral level.
