Our hearts are with our fallen heros and their loved ones.
May they Rest in Peace.
Good afternoon everyone, snuck a peak.
Thank God for our President.

VP Biden and Leon Panetta will also be present.
Thanks for the heads up ut – and glad to see that you are safe and sound.
Thanks hopefruit.
This is devastating, and the WH’s and State Dept’s anger and distress is evident from the coverage I’ve seen of President Obama and the Secretary of State. RIP, and deepest condolences to the families. So utterly senseless.
Yes I’ve seen the pain on the faces of our administration/state department. It is real pain. That is what makes Romney such a morally bankrupt human being. He sees it as a way to make political points. I do believe he has no empathy gene in his body, maybe it was there at one time, but greed and ambition has mutated any remnant that may of been there. He is cancerous/poisonous and his vile makes me sick.
/warning: political rant for people who’d rather not read politics on this thread:
I’ve just got to say it: Romney is a thoroughly, thoroughly corrupted human being who has surrounded himself with a group of similarly compromised yes-people. What kind of people would misrepresent desperate communications coming from a US embassy which sensed a deteriorating situation, and then sit back and giggle as said misrepresentations maliciously and dishonestly painted American foreign service workers as “apologizing” to a group of attackers for “American values.”
The Romney campaign had to have known that the US embassy in Cairo tweets at issue were made hours before any attacks had taken place, and thus it’s ludicrous to demand that they should have condemned killings which hadn’t even yet happened. The Romney campaign had to have known that it was a lie to claim that an unoffensive statement that the hate video doesn’t represent America is hardly “apologizing for American values.” But they lied anyway, and their malicousness inserted chaos into a time of crisis. For these same Romney people to now claim that the Libyan murders are President Obama’s fault, is bone-chilling, mendacious, hatefilled, unserious, irresponsible, craven politicking. Sorry for the rants, but this is really some of the worst behavior from a presidential campaign that I’ve ever seen. Romney, by using his high media perch to LIE about public communications coming from a US embassy in a danger zone, insinuating that they are terrorist sympathizers in order to pin that label on President Obama, has actually topped Palin’s “pals around with terrorists.” Just an awful human being. I can see why so many of his colleagues cannot abide him.
I’m 100% with every word you said.
I’m with you and Carla4Obama!
I hate and despise Mitt Romney and his entitled wife Ann. I hate them both with every fiber of my being. They are selfish, lying, miserable, greedy people and they deserve every bit of derision thrown their way!
I can’t wait until November and they are humiliated and decimated in the electoral college returns. I want them to lose votes to Libertarian nut jobs. I want them to know decisively AMERICA HATES THEM. Sorry if this is too mean of a rant, but that’s how I feel!
Pink bunny, I am not given to hating easily but I can honestly say that I come very close to those feelings where that vile miscreant is concerned. There are so many expletives I could use but none are strong enough to convey what I truly think of this mendacious individual who is not, in my opinion even fit to breathe the same air as our wonderful President. (Even though I am not a US national I still think of him as ‘ours’, he is a true gift to the whole world.)
Great rant GN! I see absolutely nothing out of bounds in your rant. For me, Romney and his advisors –and his media enablers — are all SCUM! Only insensitive cowards could have used a horrific event like this one to score political points. By the way, I am also sick and tired of all the ignorant and extremist religious nuts, of all faiths, who denigrate other people’s religious beliefs; and who advocate violence to spread their own religious beliefs. The people who made the movie denigrating Prophet Muhammad knew fully well how it would provoke anger in all Moslems and incite violence from Moslem extremists. They counted on violence by Moslem extremists to provokie counter violence from the United States Sadly innocent people, once again, paid dearly with their lives because of the utter idiocy of religious extremists.
Honorable people who were doing the world’s work.
Did I just see Colin Powell ?
Yes. Colin Powell and his wife are present.
How I wish Powell would tell the repugs that try to score political points to go fuck themselves. Remember when Powell said he hasn’t decided who to support this election? He was waiting to see Romney’s foreign policy views? Lets see how Powell feels now. Who knows where he stands.
i could care less. If Powell has to think about it, he’s got serious problems.
Powell is right where I left him in the countdown to the illegal war. Nothing he has done has redeemed him in my eyes. He stood there and drew cartoons to lie us into war. Best he can do is kiss PBO’s ass, IMO.
I totally agree with you, Lisa.
My heart breaks for the families of the victims and for the President who has to shoulder this burden. This is incredibly sad.
I share your sentiments, UT! It’s the family of victims who are suffering from the grief of losing loved ones because of the extremism of religious nuts, both Christian and Moslem. It’s this President, who has repeatedly preached and practiced tolerance, who in the end had to bear the burden of this senseless violence that took away four innocent Americans and scores of Libyans trying to protect them.
My deep condolences to the families and co-workers of these brave diplomats. My condolences also to the families of Libyans who lost loved ones who tried to protect the Americans.
Donald Trump is being a complete asshole on Twitter right now. He said Tweety was being a shill for Obama. I replied and said he’s being a shill for satan.
squarepeg, this isn’t the time for Donald Trump B.S. So excuse me when I say I don’t give a “BLANK” about what that idiot Trump is saying.
Donald Trump is a buffoon and media ambulance chaser who is respected only within the delusional confines of the far right. He’s an unhinged lunatic who makes entertaining reality tv.
My prayers goes out to the families who lost their loved ones. Thanks to the four men for their service.
The only people happy right now are Republicans and their funders, and certain folks in the media. That tells me whose behind all of this.
I don’t think all Republicans are happy.
I don’t think so either. Several have said as much, publicly.
Sorry, I should have clarified, it’s certainly not all Republicans. Certain Republican politicians and their funders. They know who they are.
Some of them are definitely having a great time with this. I’ll never forget that little smirk on Romney’s face on Wednesday or the self-satisfied expression on Paul Ryan’s face today.
“They know who they are”…and so do we!
Yes those crazy ass right wing haters who think Romney can use this to benefit his campaign is happy.
They thrive and profit on misery. It’s disgusting.
Did anyone else hear what Col. Jack Jacobs said on Tamron’s show just before she cut away to this ceremony? He said the administration “will cede the high ground on national security now. This is going to change the campaign.” I couldn’t believe he was making such a political, ghastly, wrongheaded comment at that time or at any time. There are forces at work, I am convinced. I’m assuming the FBI and CIA are investigating, but I would really like to know how this crude, hateful film which was made months ago in Ca. by some Egyptian Coptic Christian with religious rage toward Muslims got plucked from obscurity and brought to the attention of religious extremists in the Middle East who spread it to inflame.
I heard it. And thought to myself -is he crazy? Or am I crazy because that cannot be right. These people underestimate the intelligence of the American people. They are hoping – and you can hear it – hoping and praying that the situation in the Middle East and Africa makes the American people turn on the President and turn to RMoney. Yes, like we’re that dumb.
Is Col. Jacobs active duty?
Retired.
I couldn’t believe my ears——just a disgusting, inappropriate, dishonest and transparently partisan statement. He should not be allowed to voice any more opinions on MSNBC, or anywhere. He’s unethical.
Col. Jack Jacobs is stupid. His comments makes no sense, and anyone with any sense won’t believe these tv pundits. This is why the President say he doesn’t watch cable tv.
He went to the dark side.
After his military retirement, Jacobs began a career in investment banking. He founded and was chief operating officer of AutoFinance Group, Inc., which dealt in the securitization of debt instruments. The company was later sold to KeyBank. He next worked as a managing director of Bankers Trust, overseeing the firm’s foreign exchange options and being involved in the institutional hedge fund business until leaving the company in 1996. Jacobs is a principal in The Fitzroy Group, an investment and residential real estate development organization which operates in London. He is also on the board of directors for several smaller corporations.

$$$$$$$, doesn’t talk, it swears ~ Bob Dylan
Yup – I totally think this chaos was entirely engineered by Cheney and his gang. I could not believe that Jacobs could utter those words, especially as the ceremony was beginning. They are callous and delusional.
We must always remember that these pundits gets paid for giving their opinion. And they can be wrong. Just because he has that Colonel before his name, doesn’t mean he know everything.
“paid for giving their opinion” is the operative phrase. He will surely get invited on more tv shows so he can repeat his anti-PBO talking points. PBO has built up too much good will on the foreign policy front for this situation to have much impact on the election (Americans are feeling so safe that pollsters don’t even ask the question like they did under GWB). I think most Americans were appalled by Mitt’s politization of this crisis. All this we are witnessing now is SPIN to try and save Mitt’s campaign, because all impartial evidence points to PBO pulling away.
All I can say is if democrats acted like this after 9/11 they would have rightfully been called traitors. An attack on an American embassy usually would rally the country around the President, we would present a united front against their extremism. Mitt and the GOP by trying to score cheap political points is making the U.S. look weak. After all a house divided cannot stand.. The GOP doesn’t care about this country, all they care about is power.
They need a reminder about that quote, “a house divided cannot stand”, although that seems to be their main agenda, anyway.
Somebody please explain to me why the media lets these right wing nuts get away with politicizing tragedy. Remember what happened after 9/11. No Democrat was allowed to blame Bush and his administration for their failure in preventing that horrific event. I also think that most of the people who old enough like me recall that Ronald Reagan was never blamed for bombing of the Marine barracks in the Beirut, Lebanon, that took the lives of over two hundred marines. Reagan actually cut and run! He immediately withdrew from Lebanon.
Liberal Librarian was spot-on when he predicted that the media will be back blaming the President for a situation that could not be prevented.
Maybe not all Republicans, but we know who/what republicans are happy….
Yes I’m glad they know that. And the killings under GW Bush? Oh those were Clintons’ fault. Our country has been attacked in a foreign area and this is the vile they want to spread. We live in a dangerous world with dangerous evil people, we have taken the relative security of our country for granted these last 3 1/2 years, so much so that the repugs and the media has stated that foreign policy is a non issue this election cycle. In a blink of an eye we are now refocusing on foreign policy Fuck them.
This was my reply to another posting that is now gone from the blpg? Not sure what happened. The posting was stating that republicans are saying these killings would not of happened if Romney was President.
What and how would Romney been able to stop the Movie or stop the nut in FL or protected the Consulate in Benghazi? They just talk, flame to generate anger and hate. That is it. And the media is willing to abide by the rightwingers’ nonsense. In Libya many have protested and rejected what happened. But those are Not part of what the media is reporting. One thing I do know for sure. Friday is the last day for much of this protesting. By Monday, the protesting would have quietened down.
What you are witnessing are the acts of a desperate and maybe deranged man. What intelligent person would think that Romney could have prevented any of the protests from happening. For his campaign to say this shows just how irrational and delusional they are. The first question any reporter should ask is “how”? Romney is an idiot and he sooooo oily that you could probably fry an egg on him.
Hello all and sympathies to the fallen and their families.
Yes, it may be that these four individuals would not have died under a Romney Presidency but thousands more Americans,Iraqis, Afghanis, Syrians, Iranians etc would have.
These Repug/Teanut people need to shut tf up.

Hello all and sympathies to the fallen and their families.
Yes, it may be that these four individuals would not have died under a Romney Presidency but thousands more Americans,Iraqis, Afghanis, Syrians, Iranians etc would have because he wanted to stay in Iraq, get involved in Syria and Iran and keep the US at war on many fronts.
These Repug/Teanut people need to shut tf up.
MSNBC is also live streaming the transfer of remains ceremony here as well as on TV:

The housing sector is starting to rebound and, surprise, surprise, it is directly due to PBO’s policies:
“The housing market is gaining strength thanks in part to government programs aimed at helping struggling homeowners, the latest Obama Administration Housing Scorecard released Thursday found.
Home values are back to levels not seen since the beginning of the Obama administration and the number of homeowners who are underwater on their mortgage is down 11% since last year, the report said. In addition, more than half a million borrowers have had their loans refinanced through government efforts like the Home Affordable Refinance Program this year. ”

Good read
I refinanced my mortgage early this year and it has already dropped two percentage points that I am thinking of doing it again. The interest rates for a thirty year mortgage if you have good credit is less than 3%, that is the rate back in the 60′s! A 15yr mortgage is a little over 2% that is absolutely unheard of.
May the souls of these extraordinary servants of the United States forever rest in peace.
I am so glad they’re doing this for us all to view.. we need to hear, feel the grief.. there has been so much anger. Hillary was very toouching, this is all so very sad & so unnecessary- the loss.
This must be very hard for Hillary – first Ambassador Holbrooke and now Ambassador Stevens. Hard to lose colleagues – especially those who were doing so much good in so very dangerous places.
so true, theo. I grieve for their families, but take solace in the fact that they were doing what made them happy. Trying to make a difference in the world.
May those who lost their lives serving our Country rest in peace.
I send their families on behalf on my family and I our sincere condolences
We are praying for you and with you
I am saying a prayer to the SoS and Potus as they lost a friend in the Ambassador
I am also thankful for THIS SoS and especially THIS Potus
May God watch over Potus,Flotus, the VP,the 2nd FL,their families, the entire Obama Administration and our Country
May God continue to guide Potus in the hours, days, weeks and may God continue to take the reign of the Obama campaign
Chips congrats with the 13 million hits
thank you for all you do on a daily basis
this site is an oasis from the madness of politics and life . . .
God bless you all
Fred
Oh Fred, I’m so emotional right now that my brain cannot find the words for my pain, but I think you covered everything I’m thinking and feeling.
Thank you
Fred, I along with GGail want to express my deep thanks to you for your prayerful thoughts. Lives have been taken away from us. Mother, fathers, little sons and daughters will have to carry on without these precious and brave fathers.
Many grateful thoughts went through my mind as the tears of pain for each family member and our SOS and our POTUS, and VP, and Sec. Panetta. You could see the pain in Sec. Clinton’s face and body movements as she spoke so beautifully but with firmness. The polite touching to her hand by President Obama touched my heart so deeply as he was about to speak. You could see how he wanted to make sure that she was fine.
President Obama’s words were so warm, words from a deeply painful president, yet I could see the pain but resolute to make sure justice will be served on those who did this to our brave heroes. I sang along as the beautiful hymn, “Nearer, My God To Thee,” was being played. And I thoughts of the families hearts being so full during this painful time.
Then when President Obama spoke, I could see the pain, the CIC presence as he stood before the world to speak so lovingly to give some sense of comfort to the families sitting there before him, yet giving firm and strong words to those who did this awful act to these beautiful souls. Then after he finished his words, Sec. Clinton reached over and took POB’s hand to give comfort and support as being in agreement.
That moment was so much of what we as a nation, and an Administration should be as a nation that is dealing with such a complicated situation at this time. Pain in death is pain, and no Party can erase that pain, but a calm, caring, kind, gentle spirit will surely bring like minded spirits together. I ask for God’s grace to do just that for all of us at this time.
I love and support my president and our SOS. My candles are still burning because they give me comfort to send out comfort to those of the family members( we are one) who are hurting so much at this time.HZ
May the wisdom of a calm mind, hand, and actions be constant with POB, VPBiden, SOS, Clinton, and SOD, Panetta as they continue to handle this very sad situation. But may we all place into our space, beautiful gracefulness of love, comfort, and peace in these hours, days, months, and years to come. (((Comfort))))HZ
I didn’t know that the transfer of the remains were scheduled to take place today. I came home to find the ceremony on TV. Our compassionate PBO gave a brief description of the contribution and sacrifice that each made. He also mentioned the wives and children by name. I caught the very end of SOS Clinton’s remarks, but what I heard was very heartfelt.
PBO has warned again that those responsible will be found and made to pay. I believe him and if there’s nothing else he’s shown us is he means what he says.
tearing up here, can’t imagine how the families are feeling. Bless them and comfort to them all.
The remarks made by Hillary Clinton and Pres. Obama were deeply moving.
Good to hear that the strike might be over soon.
I’m hoping. But I have to tell you as a middle class bungalow owner with a husband who is 72, we cannot afford another huge property tax increase. I hope the issues are substantive and help the teachers and the School Board focus on how best to spend money to better educate our students. I don’t for a second doubt that it’s hard, thankless, impossible work. It’s why I did not pursue teaching in Chicago even though I have an undergrad degree in early childhood education. I’ve also done special programs in both the Chicago schools and the much maligned charter schools in Chicago. I’ve worked with dedicated teachers in both situations. I want to see creative and effective solutions.
I do resent that Emanuel is portrayed as another Scott Walker or John Kasich. He is not trying to destroy the teacher’s union. But we cannot continue to pass children from grade to grade without learning anything. I’d pay quadruple if it will educate our kids.
It does appear that many of the issues were not salary-related; and I support the decent, if not humongous raise that was agreed to early in talks. Teachers deserve that.
The entire system — CPS and the CTU, have to be creative and responsive so that we start educating all of our children, the way we did through the ’60′s.
Very solemn and very powerful ceremony. Highest healing for the families and the State Deparment community.
I’m sobbing over here.
Anyone how wasn’t deeply touched by that ceremony has ice water in their veins. There couldn’t have been a dry eye in the place, there wasn’t a dry eye in mine.
MAY GOD DEEPLY BLESS OUR LOST LOVED ONES WHO TOUCHED AMERICAN SOIL TODAY AND CAME HOME FOR THE LAST TIME…MAY GOD DEEPLY BLESS OUR PRESIDENT,SECRETARY CLINTON AND COMFORT THESE SURVIVING FAMILIES. THESE ARE MOMENTS THAT SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.
Leave it to Rasmussen…
Anyways, that Ceremony is always a tear-jerker, for me.
This ceremony highlights why the struggle over the next few years will be so key to the future of the country.
Here’s an excerpt of my latest piece for TPV:
I’ll let you all know when it’s up.
Let us know so we can plaster it everywhere…LL
What are these people made up of, these people, & who pushed for this video’s release..these people that would harm our country …I name every Right Wing Leader/Follower/Advisor/TeapartyVoter/ExtremeReligiousFreaksWhoNeverEvolve/EveryHater
This ceremony was so sad…Hillary!!! & PBO!!! have been pushed to the limits in this first term. I feel sick..
On my way to and fro, I feel blessed that I had the privilege to stand and listen to PBO, to see SOS Clinton standing beside him, and to hear most of the dedication. It was so beautiful…
Actually, if my thinking is correct (putting tin foil hat on) this would not have happened if Romney were President. First of all, in all likelihood the Arab Spring wouldn’t have happened. Secondly, Qaddafi would still be in power. Thirdly (tin foil time) even if the first two had happened, the motivation of those that did the inciting wouldn’t have been there because they already would have the one they want in the WH.
There wouldn’t have been time for anyone to protest in the Middle East, because they’d all be embroiled in Romney’s wars.
In other words, both Libya and Egypt would still be under dictatorship while Mitt and his neo-con handlers were busy claiming to be spreading freedom and democracy, at the barrel of the gun, in Iran and possibly Syria.
I have got the hugest pressure in my head from sobbing. The hangar, the whole “they’re home now.” Wore me out. To the backdrop of the scenes on our television playing out in so many countries. Michelle Bachmann is surprisingly very quiet with her hate. The much brighter moment though is when I look at PBO and Secty Clinton touching hands of support, the brief around the waste hug – trying to be individually strong but still leaning on each other – it makes me think about a tweet I saw the other day that said, “They answered the 3 a.m. call together.”
Oh – your last sentence pierced my heart. This is so true.
Bachmann was just spewing her hate at the Family Research Center ( hate group ) Values Voters Summit.
Just read about her comments, spoke too soon.
Damn, my new piece is up already: http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/09/the-foruntate-fall.html

Bobfr, I was very impressed to see that as well. HZ
In those quiet moments in the still of the night
Remember to rejoice and celebrate life
Do not think of me gone and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on the grain
I am the gentle autumn’s rain
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in flight
I am the soft stars that shine
You will hear my gentle voice
and remember to rejoice
Never give up your fight

My prayers are with the families and friends of these brave heroes.
beautiful
The media is very dangerous. I notice they are all stuck on the President’s statement that Egypt is not yet an ally. They completely ignore the rest of his explanation, namely that Egypt is a fledgling democracy, and they need to earn the status of ally by showing that they are cooperating in good faith. What’s wrong with that statement? God help this country if the media succeed in getting Romney into the White House – that’s all I can say.
They are trying to save Romney behind by saying PBO made a gaffe too and his was worse….these ppl are clueless and Americans are not that stupid. It’s obvious Pres Obama was playing hardball with Morsi but the media needs a false equivalence to peddle…
Agreed mb32…they refuse to except that PBO is the smartest president we have ever had. He is not only a politican, but he is a strategist…he is a thinking man…he knows what he is doing…THEY DON’T.
Do most Americans really care if Egypt is an ally or not. If Egypt got into a war would most Americans want us to join our ally Egypt into battle? I agree that the MSM is trying to prop up Mitt by creating an issue where none exists. I bet if PBO said Egypt was an ally, the GOP/MSM would be arguing that PBO is pro-Islamist and anti-Israel due to Egypts new ruling faction. The MSM looks for any little thing to fuck with PBO about while ignoring or spinning Mitt’s many gaffes.
So right – if the President had said “yes, Egypt is an ally”, then the GOP would be accusing of siding with “terrorists”. They have no shame. Instead of rallying the country for the good of the country, they are quick to divide for political gain. Imagine if 9/11 happened today – the country would be finished because the GOP would quickly leap to attack the administration instead of supporting the country to a place of healing. They are the worst of humanity.
Thank you for your comment, theo67. “God help this country, if the media succeed in getting Romney into the White House-that’s all I can say.” You said it all, theo67. Thank you.HZ
Thanks HZ. I’m very frightened about the power of the media to cause real damage.
Romney’s magical thinking about the deficit
By Jonathan Bernstein
——————————-
Mitt Romney made it pretty clear today on Good Morning America: his tax plan (and his overall budget plan) will rely on two parts pixie dust, three of Jeannie’s blinks, a pinch of technobabble from Geordi La Forge, and something about the Elder Wand (which, I have to confess, I’ve never quite understood). That is, it’s all magic and fiction.
Specifically, Romney confirmed that he will balance the barget largely through economic growth:
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: You cite your own studies. But one of the studies you cite by Martin Feldstein at Harvard shows that to make your math work, it could work, if you eliminate the home mortgage, charity, and state and local tax deductions for everyone earning over $100,000. Is that what you propose?
MITT ROMNEY: No, that’s not what I propose. And, of course, part of my plan is to stimulate economic growth. The biggest source of getting the country to a balanced budget is not by raising taxes or by cutting spending. It’s by encouraging the growth of the economy. So my tax plan is to encourage investment in growth in America, more jobs, that means more people paying taxes. So that’s a big component of what allows us to get to a balanced budget.

So how does he get MORE people working and paying taxes when BAIN is bankrupting companies and laying people off?
After watching the moving ceremony honoring our fallen heroes, I honestly do not think I will be able to abide seeing or hearing Mitt Romney EVER again. His sneer is etched in my brain. Thank God we have PBO and SOS Clinton as the face of our Nation . The look of grief, respect, and yes affection between them broke my heart. I can’t even imagine the weight that is on their shoulders.
Theme From The New World Symphony has always been one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. What a fitting tribute to them as they were taken away.
My thoughts and prayers are with those who where loss in this tragedy.
UT I am so glad that you are safe.
Thanks Donna.
UT, I missed something, But I want you to know this coming from my heart to yours, my dear loving friend.
(((((((((( I Love you, and Hugs of Safety)))))))))))))HZ
Thank you so much HZ. You’re the best.
UT, I read about your ordeal and the bomb threat at your University when I was at work. Unfortunately I could not comment at my work computer. I am so so sorry you had to go through that scary experience but I am so glad you are safe and well. I am sure I am not alone in saying that you are loved and treasured at TOD. It feels so good for me to know that you are O.K.
Thank you so much for your kind and compassionate words. Bless your heart Nath. You’re one of the good ones.
I hope to see the video later. My condolences to the families that lost loved ones during the attack of our embassy. We have the best administration in history. We have people who truly care about this country and all those representing this country around the world. My prayer to the president, sos, the fallen and their families.
Listening to Randi Rhoads…..very powerful.
Chips! Chips! we need a new thread. The comments are posting out of sequence.
CHRONICLING MITT’S MENDACITY: THERE IS NO SENSE OF SHAME AND NO SENSE OF IRONY.
Chronicling Mitt’s Mendacity, Vol. XXXIV
By Steve Benen
==========================================
In an interview aired this morning with George Stephanopoulos, the host told Mitt Romney that, despite his claims to the contrary, the Obama administration never showed sympathy for attackers in Egypt and Libya. How did the candidate explain the discrepancy? He didn’t — Romney dodged the question and let the lie stand.
Towards the end of the interview, however, Romney looked ahead to the upcoming debates and said he’ll have a challenge to deal with: “[T]he president tends to, how shall I say it, to say things that aren’t true.”
There’s no sense of shame and no sense of irony.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll out today shows a plurality of Americans believes the Obama campaign is saying things “it believes to be true” rather than “intentionally misleading people.” On the other hand, a plurality of Americans believes the opposite about the Romney campaign.
If anyone’s wondering why the public has this impression, consider the 34th installment of my weekly series, chronicling Mitt’s mendacity.

I am very pleased with the poll result that a plurality of voters think Mitt and his campaign are dishonest, while a plurality think PBO and his campaign are honest. This is why I think Mitt’s strategy of lying his way through the debates while accusing PBO of lying will backfire big time. First impressions last, and Mitt has convinced a sizable number of voters that he cannot be trusted. After over 4 years in the spotlight, PBO is well liked by the public and is only seen as dishonest by the tea party set. Mitt is losing and he is desperate. Don’t believe the “brave face” his campaign is putting on. Like everything else they say, it is a lie.
I just get dizzy reading all the Romney lies. Sadly, Steve Benen is heroically working alone in the media wilderness. Mainstream (actually Corporate) media are not paying him any attention. Romney looks in the eyes of media people, like George Stephanopoulos, David Gregory, Bob Scheiffer, and others, and lies. Yet they are not disturbed by his lies. They still treat him with more respect than they treat President Obama. In my humble opinion, the greatest threat to the United States is the media’s complicity in the right wing agenda to undermine the sensible policies of President Obama that would restore and rebuild the economic health of this country. It’s so gratifying to see that the majority of Americans are not buying the GOP lies propagated through the corporate media.
Intrade:
President Obama 66.9%
Romney 33%
HAAAAAAA! Awesome.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this was the amount that the President won his reelection by?
You know, Intrade is just a predictability trading site but what this tells me is that people are getting off the sidelines. The events of the last 10 days have shaped and shifted opinion. This is a thrill to see because the increments are growing by the day rather than by the week.
Donna, we are on the move.
If Mitt keeps up at this rate, it might be:)
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will soon begin receiving intelligence briefings. Lord help us all.
They should only get these AFTER the election if they win. I don’t see any reason why they would need them now. I don’t trust Ryan but at least he is a house member and is on the ways and means committee. I just don’t trust Romney with this type of information. He will use this information against the President if it will hurt him. I will never forget listening to Thom Hartmann and hearing the voice of President Lyndon Johnson telling someone that Nixon better stop using information he gained to make deals with the Vietnamese govt if he should win the Presidency. Ronald Reagan made a deal with the Iranians not to release the hostages until after he won all the while President Carter was working feverously to get them released instead of campaigning as hard as he could have.
I feel the same way UT! Again, great to see that you are well and, as Bobfr would say, pressing on!
I’ve GOT IT.
It’s time to call out the nutjobs who’ve hijacked Christianity – they are Chrisitanists (Christian version of Islamists) and we need to CALL THEM THAT.
“Christianists.” I love it, Tally! That’s exactly who they are! Thanks for the wonderful job you are doing on Twitter and for all your excellent and passionate commentaries at TOD.
thank YOU babe!!! XOXOXOX
Circling the Drain: Romney Campaign in Big Trouble Early
http://veracitystew.com/2012/09/13/circling-the-drain-romney-campaign-in-big-trouble-early/
My take:
It is clear that whoever lit this powder keg of rage around the Middle East, Asia & North Africa intimately knows the history and the psychology of Middle East unrest. The timing was perfect for exploiting pent up frustrations of people who were beginning to experience the realities of the aftermath of the Arab Spring.
Consider the similarities between events this week and how American’s anger in the wake of the Wall Street debacle were cleverly channeled into the “Tea Party” uprisings that made Pres. Obama the bogeyman.
I am convinced there is BIG MONEY behind the stoking fo the chain reaction in the Middle East. There are powerful interests who do not want the Arab Spring to succeed nor to ALLOW Pres. Obama’s careful nurturing of these fledgeling democracies to take root. If he succeeds then as he promised in Australia last year, American Foreign policy attention will shift away from the Middle East to the Pacific.
- Who stands to gain if we are embroiled in putting out Foreign Policy fires in the Middle East?
- Who benefits from the optics of rage in the street around the world on our TV screens?
- Who wants to destroy Pres. Obama’s claim and prior efforts to have changed American image abroad?
- Who stands in the way of War profiteers milking the taxpayer for unaccountable military build up?
- Who wants price of oil to spike up as commodity markets are spooked?
- Who wants a frightened electorate both at home and abroad, just so it will buy any argument intended to hoodwink them.
Yes it all sounds like Conspiracy Theory, but the TIMING & convergence of events on Sept 11 immediately after conventions where GOP said nary a word about our troops only to trot out neo-cons belching war & ridicule, is simply too much, to be random.
I firmly believe chits are being cashed, favors being called, old underground agents being summoned to perform their destabilizing roles..
Fortunately for us we have a team & President that is clear-eyed and knows the games being played. Hopefully they’ll trace back to WHO is pulling these strings
I have similar questions and suspect it is bigger. The Canadian embassy closed and just day before severed any connections with Iran. It is getting serious out there.
New post everyone:

I agree with Tally’s analogy comparing the Far Right segment of the Republican Party with the young, uneducated people demonstrating in the Foreign Countries. Both of full of anger and hate….Both are misguided by zealots…One should not be dignified by calling them Christian and the other should not be dignified to be called Muslim….The difference, as I see it is……if the Far Right was throwing rocks at our Military or Police, they wouldn’t live to tell it.
Whoo…these posts are jumping all around…
So heart-wrenching….
