I’m glad they are addressing this even though I don’t hold out much hope of the GOPs listening or changing their plans. GOPs had no plans to WORK going in.
@ChrisVanHollen Thank you. Voters know @speakerboehner & #GOP's ONLY job is to obstruct & sabotage US Economy. We will #RememberInNovember— (@PurpleShoesLA) September 20, 2012
Great response PurpleShoes!!
This is kind of funny, PS – I sent him a TY tweet too before I saw yours.
Frankly the more the merrier VC! Thanks for posting his tweet here so I could respond back to him. I like the strong cohesive front the Dems have now adopted since the DNC. And imho, “attaboys” from those of us “outside Washington” showing support for them is important and hopefully encourages them to stay strong and keep fighting for the American people. I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but we not only need PBO and VP Biden back in the WH, we need to “clean house” and vote as many of the Repugs ba@#$%#@ out both the House and Senate as possible. #RememberInNovember
What a great response to the question ask of POTUS about Romney 47% statement. I loved the part where POTUS said are their people who abuse the system? Yes they are, at the bottom and at the top, because there are a whole lot of millionaires who aren’t paying taxes either. What a answer. A slap in Mitt Romney’s lying face.
i’ll accept 2nd. congrats vc!
TY, OB! Happy to share the podium with you.
Obamaboy, you gotta be quick around here to beat the flexible and nimble fingers of VC!
Hi CM! Fingers are neither flexible nor nimble. Like PBO, I plan ahead.
I want lessons. I was ever watchful for the opportunity to slide into the open portal…..and that was with my good eyeball.
Okay, CookeM, since you ask nicely…. Ahem… ahem
1st. I think seriously about my intended greeting. (Being at the top at TODville is quite a responsibility, you know.)
2nd I prepare it carefully, by writing it out so that I can check for spelling, …..of course.
3rd I copy the greeting ………so that I can share it easily
4th (the most difficult part) I focus on the door***, trying hard to ignore all distractions, so that I can share my greeting as soon as the door is opened. [Oh, did I mention that the door starts creaking open on Twitter? At least it does for me because I don't have an ipad/iphone]
5th I paste my greetings on the notice board quickly and wait to see what happens.
Good luck! I’ve been thinking of retiring from the race myself, but every time I decide for sure the urge later returns .
WARNING: *** Sometimes Chips makes the task more difficult by changing the decoration on the door without advance warning, or by opening the door only wide enough to stick a note/picture out herself but not wide enough for entry. When that happens you can usually hear her chuckling inside. Also, lately, she has started to include red herrings, so you try to open the door only to realize it’s just a faux-door, not the real one! Haven’t figured out yet what that’s all about, except to increase her level of fun while torturing the likes of good folk like me.
Oh so that’s the ticket. I’ll be on the look out. However, it does seem to have too many moving parts. I may just start pointing and clicking along the halls of cyberwebz and see what happens. Maybe if I can get the planets all lined up just so, it’ll happen for me.
I’m sure in your long life you have noticed how different runners have different styles the same as different coaches do. When you figure out what works for you, I’ll be looking over your shoulder…maybe.
i’ll get first one day….one day. *hopefully walks away*
yep, just keep doing what you do. I tell my #2 daughter who’s your age, ‘it ain’t how fast you run the race, it’s knowing where the finish line is and how you prepare to get there (strategy and pace).
You surely will, OB! One day>

LOL! That must have been the highlight of Knoller’s entire week. The hamburger joint visit in Florida on this the 20th day of the 9th month of 2012. Now off to write his Pulitzer prize winning column about the yummy taste and aroma of that massive 5lb-juicy beef burger topped with melted swiss cheese, bacon…

good morning chips and tods! headline at the princeton election consortium:
REPUBLICANS AT RISK OF LOSING THE HOUSE?
‘ Conditions through August showed a 2% lead on the generic Congressional ballot for Democrats. As of September 20th, in the wake of the Democratic convention, the lead has widened to 4.0 +/- 2.0%. Although it has yet to be appreciated by pundits, this could well translate to a November loss of the House of Representatives by Republicans. Based on the generic Congressional ballot, the probability of a Democratic takeover is 74% with a median 16-seat majority. ‘
yes, if the election was today, they give the dems a 74% chance of taking the house with a 16 seat majority. this is happy morning news for me!
That’s fantastic. President Obama needs the House and Senate to get ANYTHING done to help the American people. Good to see that Americans are as sick of the T’Baggers as I am. They’ve done nothing but obstruct President Obama.
Romney stacked his Univision audience with some loud belligerent “supporters” who rudely booed the moderator’s questions that they didn’t like. Obama’s audience was respectful and spent more time LISTENING to this thoughtful, detailed responses, as opposed to cheering and whistling as though he was giving a stump speech.
I think that alone intimidated the moderators some (apart from their own corporate interests). The moderators failed to call Romney out on his lies (and he did a LOT of that), and simply let him carry on with his standard canned talking points.
I noticed one of the women behind him mouthed “Keep Figting” to him after his speech, which I thought was strange. Thanks for the information about the stacking. That’s exactly what Romney did at the NAACP speech — flew Black supporters in from other states to stack the audience. This man is such a fake.
Yeah – the minute the audience started wildly applauding Willard stating that the “business language of the US is English”, I knew the crowd was stacked. That’s the only snippet I saw, because I can’t take listening to his lies and strange, breathless voice.
Jonathan Alter says, that the 47% video and the Redistribution video is a Wash, at the end of the day.
This guy has multiple personality disorder.
That is all!
Jonathan is just mad that he did not uncover the 47% video. The redistribution tape is not on the same scale. The President clearly said that he wants “everyone” to have a chance and a way up. It is no wash and only an idiot would think so. Besides PBO said that in 1998, not when he was running for President, but even if he had, there is nothing wrong with what he said.
Worrying type. Let’s take it with a grain of salt.
Alter is a Debbie Downer….all the time.
I regret buying Jonathan Alter’s book on President Obama. I won’t make that mistake again.
Me too. And for the length of time I’ve had it (years), I never got beyond the first section. In fact it’s still in my work bag, in case I’ve ever stuck at a new location with nothing to read.
I agree with you about Jonathan Alter, he’s a piece of sh*t. Any body with any darn sense know that there is no comparison of the videos. Where did Senator Obama insult anyone by calling them moochers, free loaders, irresponsible, victims. Where does Obama say that he doesn’t give a dam about anyone, because they wouldn’t vote for him. Alter is a freaking stinking piece of sh*t. Excuse my language please.
This is freaking cool.

What is that sparring puppet doing on the split screen where Mitt is planning to speak on the Martin Bashir show? Ha, ha! Martin apologizes, he said, ‘I thought it was Mitt Romney, I really did, my apologies.’ I lub Martin.
Didn’t you die of laughter when Bashir said that? I laughed so loud my dogs jumped up from the couch. Bashir has a great sense of humor. And that puppet DID look just like Romney, except it had much more energy.
yep, it was hilarious cause I turned away from the TV while they still had the shot of the crowd waiting for Mitt. So I had my back to the TV when he said something about a puppet. Imagine turning around to see a little hand puppet looking just like Mitt on the split screen?
I was looking at it without my glasses and I too was wondering why Mittens was waving a red glove. Ha
Does anyone know what I mean if I say the formatting of TOD suddenly is all different: pages are white, with black type and blue for post links. There are no boxes around the comments, and all the comments are numbered. I have tried refreshing, going back to earlier threads, even rebooting the iPad, but not finding the red and black page layout I am accustomed to seeing. Thoughts?
use Google Chrome
I have these issues with my tablet but not my pc. I should try Chrome on the tablet. Haven’t done that yet. I have to turn the tablet off and then turn it back on — a simple reboot won’t fix it. I have a Samsung.
That just happened to me, click on full page, you are on mobile.
My ipad same but not my mac.
Martin Bashir is really pizzed at Willard. And unlike these idiots like Jonathan Alter and Chris Hayes who don’t give a rat’s arse if Romney wins this election, I think Bashir does care.
That is correct, I concur!
I love Martin Bashir. He has an ethical compass and it is not for sale.
Huff Post has an article saying that Romney is strapped for cash that is why he is not having rallies and POTUS is beating him in advertising in swing states. All those months of boasting that they beat us in fund raising, the money was for other committees and not much for Romney himself. What frauds! LOL
Yes, I think I heard on NPR last night that Romney’s people were kind of misrepresenting the numbers – that’s why he’s having to do so much fundraising. He is actually well behind the President in fundraising. And yet, he wants the country to vote for him because he’s an expert at money management? He actually believed what he heard on Fox News, clearly, and built his campaign around some imaginary version of President Obama, instead of the real person. Just like his RNC convention was built around a lie. Dangerous. He should have watched the Baltimore Massacre (aka GOP congressional retreat). His fellow right wingers made the same mistake…
And that is a serious question the feckless media needs to be posing to the American people. Why should we trust a President who LIES about the finances of his campaign, who mismanages his budget and run into DEBT, with America’s economy??!?!?
Is there anything Romney and his team don’t lie about?
Just the stuff they talk about behind closed doors, when they don’t realize the tape recorder is on…
Congress can change how Washington works. Voters can change how Washington works. Prez lacks the power.— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) September 20, 2012
Is Little Ezra trying his hand as sarcasm? If so, EPIC FAIL.
I think he’s trying to say that we need to elect a Congress that WORKS! Dems all the way!
I agree. Not sarcastic at all.
There it is, y’all. We need to give PBO a Congress that can work with him. What peeps are beginning to write on message boards, e.g. HP, CNN, MSNBC is that we need to vote straight BLUE, This is not about someone’s personality. This is about the someone’s policy.
I don’t think he’s being sarcastic. He’s merely paraphrasing what Pres. Obama said. One person alone cannot change the culture of Washington. Congress and voters have to effect that change.
True, but somehow I get it he feels a bit snarky at that last phrase- did he run out of character space?
Thank you. That’s exactly the feeling I got. Klein is being damn slick here. He posts a seemingly innocuous tweet but which really is a mockery of the President’s words. And if you read the rest of Klein’s tweets on this very issue, you will see why I hold the opinion that this tweet was not intended to be flattering or supportive of the President’s words.
Here’s an example of Klein’s thoughts on this issue:
The full Obama comments on change are both more nuanced than "you can't change Washington from inside" and, I think, more wrong. Post coming— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) September 20, 2012
Obama also said "the big accomplishments, like health care" got done from the outside. That's absurd. HC was the definition of inside game— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) September 20, 2012
Here's the post: Obama's unconvincing theory of change: washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-kle…— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) September 20, 2012
I also know that the main-stream-media (including the likes of Klein) have always been of the opinion that PBO promised to change Washington but only made it more divisive.
it’s a response to the BuzzFeed crews manufactured “gaffe” that POTUS said you can’t change Washington from inside.
This video is perfect; his answer is perfect … right information, right tone … he is just perfect! If people listening to him describe so matter of factly how he sees the 47%, how can they not vote for him? It boggles my mind.
Oh oh, it’s being reported that Mittfit’s being heckled at his event in Florida. Oh my, poor guy, can’t seem to keep those seniors in their seats.
And it’s not like he’s in hostile territory. Sarasota is as Republican as it gets.
QUESTIONER: There’s 46, 47 percent of Americans who don’t pay federal taxes [indistinct] How can these people vote on spending money when it’s not their money? What would you do about something like that?
ROMNEY: You raise a really good question, I think. I would think that every American would like to feel that they’re contributing to the defense of our country. And this is something worth having a discussion about. I don’t have an answer, because I don’t want to raise taxes on people that are not paying taxes today – in many cases, are poor. But 47 percent is a big number. Forty-seven percent of Americans paying no income tax, that’s a heck of a big number. And that’s why some have talked about going to what’s called the Fair Tax, which is a tax on consumption, and everybody consumes. But there’s some problems with the way people have constructed that, because very high-income people end up seeing a huge reduction in taxes, and that’s not what I’m looking for, and middle-income people see higher taxes. So you look for a way to say, let’s everybody contribute. And I will look – I’ll look very carefully at that, because I think every American deserves the privilege of being able to help support our troops and support our nation in defending liberty.
And how exactly to do that, I’ll give that some thought. Let me tell you what I’d do with taxes, by the way, that may influence your thinking. And that is, I think the people who have been hurt most by the Obama economy are the middle-income Americans. People at the low end receive some help and benefits, a safety net. People at the high end are doing just very well, thank you very much. And people in the middle, the great majority of Americans are having a real hard time, and so what I would do to help middle-income Americans is say, for anyone making $200,000 a year and less, you pay no tax on interest, dividends or capital gains, no tax on your savings. So middle-income Americans can save for college, can save for retirement, can save for whatever the heck they want and not have to pay taxes on their savings.
Fair Tax system is really unfair!!!
Eliminating taxes on capital gains, dividends interest are the purview of the rich more than the middle class – so he’s deceiving the public about this. He himself has survived for the last ten years on capital gains alone – since he’s not had a job for a decade.
The “Obama economy”? I think he means the Bush economy, because the Obama Economy is the one that’s actually climbing out of recession, despite GOP attempts to keep it in the ditch.
Lastly, a lot of that 47% are seniors who no longer work, but who paid taxes and contributed to the very social services that they now enjoy and rely upon. Another lot are the soldiers who have now been told that giving them jobs after they return from the GOP wars is too expensive – need to keep that money so the rich can get more tax cuts.
And really lastly – he ants to give every American the “privilege of being able to help support our troops and support our nation”. Is he bringing his money back from overseas so he can help carry that load and pay his fair share?
DADT was repealed one year ago today. Our country is stronger, freer, and fairer because of it. Just one more way we’re moving forward. —mo— Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) September 20, 2012

Hi Pamela, I usually only have that problem when using IE web browser. For some reason, it sometimes has issues with recognising the Hex numbers/letters used in the colour design of a blog theme and therefore would show in some areas with a navy blue colour and black instead. But when I use Firefox, the colours are okay and never have any issues.. I don’t think it’s your ipad, just the browser and wordpress theme not agreeing with each other lol

Also, it’s only on the iPad this is happening, the iPhone is looking and acting as per usual! Cripes!
Pamela, I OCCASIONALLY have that issue on my iPad. It is RARE, but it does happen. Each time it has happened, I find if I close TOD and re-open, most every time, it is back to ‘normal.’ Don’t know what else to tell you.
Mitt Romney, rallying supporters in Sarasota today, is wasting no time in seizing on President Obama’s comment to Univision about changing Washington.
“The president threw in the white flag of surrender,” Romney bellowed soon after taking the stage at a steamy outdoor rally. ”He said he can’t change Washington from the inside. We’re going to give him that chance in November, he’s going outside.”
Romney was alluding to Obama’s eyebrow-raising concession that “you can’t change Washington from the inside” just about an hour earlier at the Univsion forum in Miami.
“I can change Washington,” Romney promised. “I will change Washington. I will get the job done from the inside.”
Now see? They jump on stuff hoping to change the subject. Then, the RNC fires out this email saying the President gaffed!
He didn’t gaffe, this is experience and responding to a loaded question!
where’s this article from? link or acknowledge the source to avoid the innerwebz policy on copywriting. The way it’s written sounds like a right wing site. Stupid is the man that uses the same tactics over and over again.

You get that jovie141.
Enough with what Romney is seizing on. Please.
We have to nip this in the bud quick coz I’m starting to see a few people pick this up. And apparently, the Romney campaign is saying they will be using this against Obama in the upcoming weeks.
They are so stupid!!! POTUS has been saying for YEARS that ” We are the ones we’ve been waiting for”. The change has always been about US, not just one man. C’mon, the media is now just jumping on anything. You can’t just pick up a phrase and decide randomely that it’s a gaffe.
Seems like Team Obama is on the case too because they’ve been retweeting a lot of the statements from POTUS dating back to ’08 saying the exact same thing. Let’s make sure we push back heavily as well , for those who are on twitter…
I don’t actually see anyone other than the usual suspects picking up on this. The majority of the media on twitter are totally snarking the BS given by BuzzFeed especially once the video was shown of Romney saying the same thing in ’08.
check my update
Mitt Romney at Boca Raton fundraiser:
“if the Hispanic voting bloc becomes as committed to the Democrats as the African American voting bloc has in the past, why we’re in trouble as a party and, I think, as a nation.”
Did the Univision moderators ask Romney about this statement? Because if they did I haven’t found any evidence of it.
Well Romney is right. If Latinos start to vote for Democrats at same rates as African Americans (90 and up), the Repubs are toast.
‘ In one the weirdest (and most effective) political ads of the season, nearly the entire cast of The West Wing has reunited to shoot a campaign ad — in character — for a candidate for Michigan’s Supreme Court. The whole gang is here — Josh, Toby, President Bartlett, even C.J. and the quiet secretary — walking and talking in that old Aaron Sorkin style to discuss the complicated “crisis” of people not voting on non-partisan judicial ballots. Along the way, they manage to work in an endorsement for Bridget Mary McCormack, a University of Michigan law professor who is appearing on the (you guessed it) non-partisan portion of the Michigan ballot. ‘

POTUS and FLOTUS will both be on The View together next Tuesday. It’s being taped next Monday.
Problem we have is that the Village is completely in love with the concept of a horse race, so they will help Romney to get back in the game, in any way possible. It’s not necessarily bias, it’s just because a close race is more exciting. They crave for that kind of thing.
President Obama obviously meant what he’s always meant: it’s the people who apply pressure who can obtain real change. God, he must be absolutely mortified right now to have given the GOP and the media an opening like this. Time for the Obama campaign and all supporters to bring their A-game and turn this around ASAP.
Slight correction: They will TRY to help Romney get back in the game, but won’t succeed. Not this time.
You’re right. I should follow your example, HF, and stay calm lol !
The media can try, but I think Romneybot 2.0 is such a flawed candidate that no amount of media shenanigans and billionaire $$$ can help him. He’s a gaffe machine, uncomfortable around regular folks, and awash with a feeling of entitlement. In fact, President Obama is smart to mostly sit back and let Romney dig himself into pits of sinking sand.
Sorry, I spoke too fast. President Obama did INDEED explain that change needs pressure from the people. The media BETTER NOT play along with Romney on this !!!!!!!! Tweeters ??????
“God, he must be absolutely mortified right now to have given the GOP and the media an opening like this”
What exactly are you referring to here?
Don’t you realize by now that the MSM will take just about ANY and EVERYTHING the president said or does and try to make an issue out of it? They tried to bring back the “guns & religion” comments after the Romney video was leaked. They tried to use the unrest in Libya and make and “issue” out PBO’s comments about being neither an enemy or ally of Egypt. They tried to pretend that he had not part in the convention bounce and that it was all because of Bill Clinton. They tried to use the jobs numbers to say that the unemployment situation had completely wiped out any enthusiasm generated by the convention. Between now and November, there will be MANY things the President will say, and yes some of them will be used in the MSM in an attempt to distract from Mitt Romney and confuse voters.
I would say it’s time for YOU to stop buying into whatever nonsense the MSM/GOP pushes about the President and instead call out the MEDIA on their double standards, giving Romney a pass, and trying to confuse viewers for ratings.
PBO has been saying this for years:
Mortified? That has never described PBO in spirit or deed. He said what he said and he meant it. He doesn’t pander, so he doesn’t get too bent out of shape by people who do. He knows they’re going to splice and dice everything he says, but he won’t be bullied. Relax, he got this.
Because the MSM lacks common sense, we don’t have to lose our common sense and become afraid or panicked by their latest nonsense. PBO was basically saying that it is the voters who change how Washington works (i.e., the President cannot change how the House of Reps or Senate works, they are separate branches of government). Few would argue with the fact that COngress is dysfunctional. The only way to change Congress is if voters kick the obstructing bums out of office. This was not a gaffe. It is how our system of governmet works, the President is not king.

It gets worse. Of the $100 million raised, Romney only gets to spend $22 million of it. That’s why he’s being so miserly about ad expenditures in key battleground states that he must win.
New York Times:
“Romney aides released informal dollar figures that lumped several pools of money — some available for his use, others not — into a single figure, providing a perception greater than reality: $106 million in June and $101 million in July, far more than Mr. Obama and the Democrats.
Yet those figures obscured the fact that most of the money Mr. Romney was raising was reserved for those other political entities like the Republican National Committee.
And the party committee, which Mr. Romney helped propel to record-breaking receipts in July, is allowed to spend only about $22 million on advertising that is coordinated with Mr. Romney.”

new research parses the views of those pesky ‘white working class voters’:
‘ Mitt Romney has a double-digit lead over Obama with working-class white voters (48 percent vs. 35 percent), but things get more complicated when broken down a bit more. Romney fares the best among southern voters and men in the group, but has no significant lead over the incumbent among Catholics, women, or nonsouthern members of the group. ‘

ROMNEY USES COAL MINERS IN AD – ATTENDANCE AT EVENT WAS MANDATORY AND UNPAID
Romney ad features miners forced to lose pay during mandatory attendance at Romney event
By Laura Klauson
Mitt Romney must have really liked his campaign event using coal miners as a backdrop after their employer, Murray Energy, made attendance mandatory and unpaid, though they lost paid work time to attend. Romney liked it so much, in fact, that his new ad attacking President Barack Obama for supposedly being anti-coal uses images of Romney standing in front of those miners as they lose pay to be forced to listen to him.
The substance of the ad is ridiculous, of course

‘ Is a shift happening in the normally frozen-in-place world of cable news ratings?
It’s hard to tell, but something unexpected has happened over the last two days: MSNBC has beaten Fox News in the all-important A25-54 category two nights in a row. ‘
You mean to tell me that FOX had 24-54 year old viewers? Well, they’ve probably decided that the station is a FINO (Fox In Name Only) and left them.
Chris talking about Mitt’s campaign being broke and how he’s having to borrow 20 million.
He compares PBO’s small donor strategy where folks can go back to the well often and will increase donations as time goes by. Big donors tap out and they can’t go back to the well. Guest on the show says the Super Pac money may not matter, but still to be determined. Question is how much people will absorb.
Since I’m among family, I have to share my utter amusement at RW trolls to Tweet me with an insult. Do they actually think I care what their troglodyte brains think about me? I give a witty response and then block them. What they want to do is engage you in a running argument, just to sap your energy. If my mother insults me, I care. If friends insult me, I’m hurt. (Not that either Mother or friends do that.) But some schmuck on Twitter? Please. Life is to short and there’s too much outreach to be done to genuine undecideds to waste time on fools awash in their own foolishness.
I’m sure some of those silly old trolls lurk here and on other pro-O blogs like People’s view and are bothered by the truth, well-written, fact based pieces, and good will generated by like-minded folk. They try to make their hollow, emotionally bankrupt shells feel better by putting you down. But as you say, friends and family can hurt, but these trolls matter 0%

I disagree with @ezraklein here. There's a big difference between changing Washington and changing policy. washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-kle…— Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) September 20, 2012
Thank you Mr. Boykin. Ezra is 29 years old, has never ran for let alone won any office at the local, state or national level. Klein has never done community organizing, engaged in social services, or led grassroots movements, but wants to dictate to PBO about what he means by his comments about changing Washington?!?!. Klein doesn’t know SHIT.
Since events have FORCED most of the MSM to report harsh truths about Mitt, they will leap over themselves at some perceived or invented “gaffe” by PBO in order to provide “balance” and get back to their specialty: finding fault with PBO. If this is the best they can come up with, Mitt is in some serious trouble. As stated above, this was NOT a gaffe. PBO was talking to voters about the power they have to change this country. The voters, through elections, have direct control over two branches of government, the Executive (President) and the Legislature (both houses of Congress). Most would agree that much of the dysfunction in Washington stems from Congress, and the remedy for that ill is for voters to kick out the GOP come Nov. 2012. The fact that Mitt himself has made similar statements in the past make this a TOTAL FAIL by the GOP and their MSM cronies.
Well said hopefruit! Same with Keith Boykin. Klein is another pompous ass who thinks he knows everything.
If I’m not mistaken, it was also Ezra Klein filling in for someone on MSNBC the day Mittens made his “birther joke” in Michigan where he also tried to delve rather authoritatively into another topic that is clearly out of his depth of knowledge and personal experience: racism. He announced on that show that Mittens wasn’t racist and basically downplayed the comment.
The Tax Policy Center – federal income taxes paid by income level in 2011.
It contains a number of interesting factoids, including the following:
7,000 people made more than $1 million but paid no income tax.
22,000 people made between $500,000 and $1 million but paid no income tax.
81,000 people made between $200,000 and $500,000 but paid no income tax.
381,000 people made between $100,000 and $200,000 but paid no income tax.
So that’s 491,000 Americans who made more than $100,000 a year who paid no income tax
45% of the country makes less than $30,000 per year.
30% of the country makes less than $20,000 per year.
15% of the country makes less than $10,000 per year.
60 million of the 76 million Americans who pay no income tax make $30,000 or less.
25 million Americans make more than $100,000 per year—15% of the total.
6.7 million Americans make more than $200,000 per year—4% of the total.
1.3 million Americans make more than $500,000 per year—less than 1% of the total.
433,000 Americans make more than $1 million per year—less than 0.2% of the total.

OUR POLITICAL DISCOURSE IS GETTING DUMBER AS THE ELECTION DRAWS CLOSER
Obama talks about how Washington changes
By Steve Benen
Update: As part of his answer, which the RNC left out of the video, Obama talked about doing more in a second term to engaged in “more of a conversation with the American people so they can move these issues forward.” This context makes the so-called “gaffe” even less controversial and more mundane.
Here’s a transcript of Obama’s next sentences, not shown in the clip: “That’s how I got elected, and that’s how the big accomplishments like health care got done, was because we mobilized the American people to speak out. That’s how we were able to cut taxes for middle class families. So something that I’d really like to concentrate on in my second term is being in a much more constant conversation with the American people so that they can put pressure on Congress to help move some of these issues forward.” This isn’t at odds with the 2008 message; it’s the whole point behind “yes we can.”
Second Update: Romney mentioned Obama’s remarks three times at the beginning of his rally in Sarasota. It’s almost as if our political discourse is getting dumber as the election draws closer.

After all that effort, I figured it would be a positive number, I just didn’t think it’d be by that much. Indeed, hard work does pay off.
IA was the 1st in 2007 and then in 2008 with their votes to affirm then Sen Obama as a potential POTUS. The DNC chair in IA said in Jan or Feb of 2012, that she had NO doubt that come Non 2012 that pres Obama will once again win IA.

Stick the freaking knife in and twist. Nothing less than a total wipeout of the GOP will do now.
PBO has many paths to get the 270 electoral votes. He can do it by winning 2 or 3 of the swing states. Mittsfit has to damn near win them all.

“The Republican presidential candidate appears to have profited from a marketing company that was contracted by the state of Massachusetts after receiving $5 million (£3.2 million) in financial backing from Bain Capital, Mr Romney’s investment firm.
One of his vice-presidential candidate’s brothers, who is a former Bain consultant, was at the time of the investment a senior executive at the marketing company, Imagitas, which was co-founded by another former Bain executive.
Both Mr Romney and Tobin Ryan, who omits his work at Imagitas from his corporate biography, also apparently stood to benefit from the $230 million (£146 million) sale of the company in 2005, while Mr Romney remained in office.”
We always knew there were a lot of unanswered questions about Romney/Bain/politics relationship.

He is quite tall and is quite attractive. The President was about 18feet away from me. I have met him before, shook his hand to be exact. But, I got a chance to really check him out and PBO is one fine specimen of a man. His suit, fit him to a T. The pants, the way the back was tailored to meet his form. OMG, it was unbelievable. He is very tall and slender. I wouldn’t describe him as skinny although that is how he describes himself. The male moderator said something about the dream act and how the president promised. PBO straightened him out real quick. I was worried about the upcoming debates but let me reassure you and myself, that PBO will knock it out the park. In hind sight, he was naive to think the republicans would work with him but he got as much done and humanly possible. Also, he mentioned how they were plotting against him on day 1. TAMPA — President Obama continued his offensive against Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” video, telling a crowd at a high-dollar fundraiser here that he wants the children of all people to be successful.
Speaking to an audience that included former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and Pearl Jam rocker Eddie Vedder, Obama said the children of the wealthy should not believe that they are the sole inheritors of America’s success.
“I don’t want their dreams constricted, and I also don’t want our kids to think that somehow success is reserved for them and that somehow half the country is locked out of that success,” Obama said. “I want everybody to be successful. Black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, able or disabled and I want everybody to have a chance to success. That’s what we’re fighting for in this election.”
Like Hansel and Gretel leaving a trail of crumbs, Obama has doled out pieces of his criticism of statements Romney made in the videos, recorded at a May fundraiser, that were released Monday and Tuesday by Mother Jones magazine.
Obama made his first reference to Romney’s comments Tuesday night to David Letterman and again spoke of them during Thursday’s Univision forum at the University of Miami.
Vedder, the Pearl Jam rocker who played an acoustic set for the crowd before introducing Obama, joined in taking a jab at Romney’s “47 percent” remark.
“I’m an example of someone who never made it to university,” Vedder said. “I did have this dream to be a musician. I felt that this dream had an expiration date.”
Vedder told of working as a security guard in order to subsidize his fledgling music career.
“It was that job which he allowed me to keep affording to guitars and microphones,” he said. “For me, it all began with that ability to get the proper training for a decent job.”
Vedder added: “It’s very upsetting to hear a presidential candidate be so easily dismissive of such a ginormous amount of the population.”

Holy Smokes! Elizabeth Warren creamed Scott Brown in the debates. He kept calling her “Professor” in a condescending manner. His behavior was boorish and rude. He thought he could intimidate her and make her nervous. HA! The joke was on him. She mopped the floor with him. He was so flustered, he was stuttering. Whenever he couldn’t defend his votes he’d say “umm…..I’ll get back to you on that.” Warren was relentless. She knew his voting record like the back of her hand. Brown got desperate and began name dropping Teddy Kennedy and Pres. Obama. He name dropped Pres. Obama so much you’d think they were best friends. It was such a classic sign of desperation.
Warren is a dynamo in debate form. MA voters need to wake up and vote Scott Brown out. He voted for the Blunt Amendment and voted against Equal Pay yet he said he is pro-women. Warren quickly disabused him of that delusional notion.
Did she bring up the recent thugs’ unity in voting against the vets jobs act ?
That’s one where she would need to be careful because Brown didn’t vote with the Senate GOP – because he knew that even with his ‘independent’ vote the Dems still wouldn’t have sufficient votes to break the filibuster. I’m sure if it did come up, she handled it well.
Tie him to his disgusting party and break his ‘I’m with the president’ myth.
The thing is, Brown voted for that particular bill (he knew it would be poison to vote against it going into the debates and his GOP friends gave him cover), but he has voted against other important jobs bills and voted for BAD bills like the Blunt Amendment and bills to keep subsidies for oil companies and loopholes to protect billionaires.
From various reports, ut, apparently #BainMitt was kryptonite to Scott Brown while Elizabeth Warren was very supportive of the President. Interesting
She did a fantastic job UT. I think this debate should settle any questions “on the fence” voters who already support PBO had about Elizabeth Warren. I believe they have a couple more debates, which should solidify her support even more.
Hysterical SNL opening making mincemeat of Romney and Fox & Friends on special edition of SNL on now. It was a beaut!
Oh, no Harry Redi didn’t cancel the Senate so Brown could go to his debate with Warren. Oh GINGER SNAPS!! I have a crush on Mr Reid. Between seeing PBO in person & Harry Reid going ‘gangsta’, I need the naught mat for at least one hour!
It's no wonder why @MittRomney doesn't believe American ppl have the power to change Washington- he's already written off half of them.— Lis Smith (@Lis_Smith) September 20, 2012
Jim Messina on conference call with OFA grassroots fundraisers urging all of us to not only keep up the donations but to increase as much as we can. We have to have the dough to see this thing through to the end. So maybe this weekend we can have another TOD donation party?!
I told my hubby in lieu of taking me out for our anniversary today, I would rather use that money to donate to OFA. I made 10 $10 donations today, and it made me happy. I would rather help PBO get reelected because it is very important the he is. We all have to do whatever we can do.
Obamacrat, you are WONDERFUL! Thank you for making this commitment to our POTUS and to each other.
And Happy Anniversary to you and your husband!

that was the best part, i think. he’s the senator, but looked like a dumb schoolboy trying to answer questions in class. she demonstrated her intelligence, and the breadth of her understanding of the issues, while remaining calm and clear. she was the only serious candidate in the debate, regardless of his being the incumbent.

Who’s Watching Annette Tadeo on Ed? For those of us who couldn’t stomach Romney on univision, she told everything that needed to be said about his performance. He actually called them “illegal aliens” to their faces. WTF?
Hi, TOD! I haven’t posted here for a very long time, but I just wanted to say that I was at PBO’s event at the University of Miami today. If you look at the clip of PBO responding to Romney’s 47% remarks, I appear at the 1:00 mark. Thats besides, the point, I’m just psyched I came out on the tape My point is that PBO did really well today (I had no doubt he would). He answered eloquently, precisely, and honestly. The energy in the room was palpable (even if it doesn’t come across on the video) and the chanting afterward was intense. There is a lot of love for PBO in Miami and we hope to spread it across the rest of the state. Rock the vote!!! OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Thanks for the great report and for your support of our wonderful president!
Thanks Olivia. Love the truth from within.
