I’m with you on that Jackie, lovely as the polls have been, it’s still hard not to worry about turnout and, more so, voter suppression – we know already these people are capable of anything, especially when they’re desperate.
The voter suppression laws being enacted in states around the country could have the cumulative effect of blocking the ballots of 10 million Latino citizens who could have otherwise legally voted, according to a new study.
When I see the media saying that Robme is measuring the drapes and adding staff, I hope it is his misguided optimism and not that he knows he has a guaranteed win because of these suppression efforts. I have seen too much over the years to believe that the GOP will not use all the dirty tricks in their tool chest to make that happen.
[This is not a criticism] In truth, Jackie, I’m trying not to let the caveat dampen my CHANCE TO ENJOY WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW. I’m not being an ostrich – I’m just telling myself I am going to LIVE FULLY in this moment and not let the cheats steal ANY of its personal impact. Because, if they do and their plans triumph (I don’t see it happening) I would have had no real joy, and none going forward. If I find in the future their plans did not triumph (and I feel I have to be confident they won’t) then I would have cheated myself out of some of the joy I could have been dancing about right now. Yeah. Yeah. I sound confusing or confused, but, hey, it’s a happy confusion.
vcprezofan2, I join you in your “happy confusion”. I tell a really good friend of mine, words similar to yours, just about every other day. I t have told her more than once or fifteen times that she come to TOD.
Hi Puddin’, glad for the company always. This is my first time ever being involved in politics other than voting, and I do feel a strong sense that these are meaningful times. Republicans are obvious party poopers. They are selfish and mean, not my kind of people at all. There aren’t any republicans I like or respect so I’m stomping my foot and refusing to let them taint my joy. If they throw an actual obstacle, I’ll stop and wait with PBO and his team until they muscle it out of the way….. then I’ll continue dancing… with your company. #ObamaBiden2012 #FORWARD, over or around the bumps in the road.
Sssh, Yardarm! Do not be raising the alarm because then the forces, ….oops… relatives will come alive with greater determination. Some things are best accomplished with stealth and in silence. Plus, I’m going to stop while I’m ahead.
Who? Me? …..Why? I’m not doing anything…………….. as usual.
Oh, Good Morning, Pamela! Great to be able to greet you before you head off to work (for both of us)! Have a good day, and give you know who an extra hug from me today. She won’t know who it’s from but that’s alright if it makes her feel a little extra warmth.
Hiya Meta, I noticed that too, so I was hopelessly confused – but the White House site had it at 10:10, so that was probably the safest bet. Although, I’d be surprised if it’s on time, some of the leaders speaking in the last hour don’t, eh, seem to know when to stop!
WHEN Mitt Romney told the guests at a fund-raiser in Florida in May that America is divided between people who pay no income taxes and depend on government and pretty much everyone else, he missed the deeper truth. It is not just that most of the 47 percent Mr. Romney talked about do pay payroll taxes and that many of them have paid income taxes in the past. The reality he glossed over is that nearly all Americans have used government social policies at some point in their lives. The beneficiaries include the rich and the poor, Democrats and Republicans. Almost everyone is both a maker and a taker.
We have unique data from a 2008 national survey by the Cornell Survey Research Institute that asked Americans whether they had ever taken advantage of any of 21 social policies provided by the federal government, from student loans to Medicare. These policies do not include government activity that benefits everyone — national defense, the interstate highway system, food safety regulations — but only tangible benefits that accrue to specific households.
Oliver Munday
The survey asked about people’s policy usage throughout their lives, not just at a moment in time, and it included questions about social policies embedded in the tax code, which are usually overlooked.
What the data reveal is striking: nearly all Americans — 96 percent — have relied on the federal government to assist them. Young adults, who are not yet eligible for many policies, account for most of the remaining 4 percent.
Good Morning TOD Family. Watching CSPAN…on house waste of time right now, next PBO speaks at UNGA. Jovie, I am now a Clerk at the polls. They called and asked me to move up. I was also sent a request to work early voting. I hope I get the early voting as well. Well, off to play Frisbee with the dogs before I go to work.
Chris Stephens – Always does President Obama know what is the right thing to say, when is the right time to say it – and where is the right place to say it.
It continues – what cannot always be said in a domestic speech, is so applicable when talking to the UN. This is a President who allows people to say horrible things about him – because it is a constitutional right.
“There is no speech that justifies mindless violence”
Well hello all you O’s!!! A great getting up day again in TODtown, doncha know. It appears that PBO may be done with his UN speech in time to catch him and FLOTUS on The View. But as I’m listening to him now, this speech is way more important to hear. He is quoting Madella and also schooling everyone on what Democracy means. He defends the right of the teabutts to call him names everyday/
My political take today is I think he’s talking to Americans as much as anyone in that room.
Another great thing about our President: He always reminds me of what is great about America and the world. He constantly reminds me that there is still goodness and decency in the world. Love that.
This is true. He brings hope to the rest of the world that the United States can live up to the promise that everyone hopes for and properly lead the world to do good, and not harm – and that Americans are made up of more good people than rotten scoundrels. President Obama is truly the only reason I’m still living in the United States. He gives me hope.
Exactly. He uplifts, not tear down. He’s inclusive, not dividing. He wants all to share with each other, not horde stuff for ourselves. He is so right for these times and the contrast between him and Robme is never more distinct.
Gotta get this rant off my chest, random i know, but it popped in my head, so what the hell…
i hate how much MSNBC and other left-wing news outlets kiss bill clintons ass as if he’s God himself, always reminding us how “popular” he is and how “high” his approval rating is smh. i feel like dems slight Obama with how highly they speak of bill, especially when he stumps for Obama or helps him in any way. Acting like Obama NEEDS bill so bad to win the election, as if Obama can’t win it without him. Just be straight diminishing Obama as the President and his extraordinary abilities at making the case for himself. i hear talking heads all the time mention how the bump Obama got outta the convention was because of bill’s speech…as if the man himself, the best speaker ever, Obama’s speech didn’t do anything to give him a bump smh. Can’t stand that! Obama frustrates me a little too when he gives bill too much credit, especially when he goes to his go-to line “bill makes the case like nobody else can…”. Uhhh, no PBO…YOU make the case like nobody else can! i also think he should stop diminishing himself as well, when he says Michelle is the star of the family, we all know he is, and i know he says that to be humble and kind (Michelle a rockstar by the way), but i wish sometime he would stop giving others more credit than himself, i wish he would be a lil more cocky, not in a douchey way, but in a “i’m the President / This seats taken / i got this” kinda way. And yea kinda like bill’s brass comment toward ryan. Anyway, got sidetracked… But the person who annoys me the most when it comes to billy is…..*drum roll*…..good ‘ol Chris Matthews. Jesus Christ does this man have a man-crush on him. The way he feels about billy dwarfs the thrill up his leg he feels for Obama. Chris my dude, but he acts like everything bill says is sent from heaven, everything he says is brilliant. Bill can say the sky is blue and Chris would make it seem like he said some groundbreaking shit. He also diminishes Obama in the way he talks about bill, as if Obama needs to get on bill’s level. But anyway, i just hate how much some people doubt Obama as a politician when being compared to other “really popular” ones. And i don’t think bill is the most popular politician in America, Obama is! Obama is GLOBALLY also. Eff the polls! And i dont dislike bill, he’s cool with me, i just hate the extreme praise he gets like he’s the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway, my fanboy rant is over i guess…..OH wait! I’m ObamaBoy, and i approve this message.
They love Clinton because he gave them plenty of news for years. Obama is scandal-free, gaffe-free, problem-free. They are mad because he does his job and does it with style. No salacious news stories there, ya know?
I am totally with you, OB. Clinton is flying right for now, for this moment – and I’m grateful. But, President Obama has been criticized during his presidency for not reversing a lot of the policies that Bill Clinton signed into place. And Bill Clinton is fueled by a desire to be the center of attention – and he’s getting that right now. Remember, before President Obama let Bill Clinton rescue the two women from North Korea and then called on him to help with the Haiti recovery, articles were being written about Bill Clinton’s irrelevancy.
But they must never forget – President Obama beat the Clinton machine, and now they all work for him.
ObamaBoy, I must say that I agree with each and everything you wrote. Plain and simple and to the point. Gotta love the youth. Sure you’re not my son….?
Hey, Clinton did an excellent job at the convention. He’s excellent in the commercials. He’s excellent on the campaign trail. I’m glad he’s on our side and working for PBO’s reelection. He’s a political genius, that’s for sure. Which is why he has managed to become a Democratic icon and avoid anyone knowing about the following:
I don’t care about his personal transgressions but someday I want to see apologies for this stuff:
Repealing Glass-Steagall
Telecom Bill of 1996 that turned the airwaves over to the RWNJ’s
Privatization continued from Reagan/Bush
Obamaboy, you’ve got to understand that this is deliberately done to diminish, insult and to get under President Obama’s skin…
Chris Matthews has tried unsuccessfully to get an interview with President Obama and it pisses him off that the President won’t play ball…
They are mad that President Obama isn’t needy and does not seek them out like Clinton did and still does…and they are seriously envious of this unassuming President so beloved the world over without asking or plotting or planning his popularity…
Worse still, they can’t get him to play their silly D.C games…
And yet he still succeeds and thrives in spite of them…
They’ve tried everything to get his attention and this latest Clinton love affair is designed to diminish interest in and chip away at the greatness and specialness of what they know is a uniquely amazing and intrinsically decent and beloved man and world figure in President Obama…
Notice how they started off with the likes of Chris Christie, Hillary Clinton and various other flavors of the month until they settled on Bill Clinton – who can say whatever the hell he wants to as an ex-president unburdened by incumbency…
I enjoyed Michael Lewis’ interview with Charlie Rose where Michael knocks down the fake Clinton does a better job at explaining stuff than President Obama…
Michael Lewis said something like it is hard to make a strong argument for your own accomplishments for various reasons…
And Michael Lewis went on to predict that President Obama would in the future also make an incredibly powerful argument on behalf of whatever Democrat comes after him…
I loved Michael Lewis’ telling interview of PBO. Just could not understand how he could say that PBO is a very interesting person in his current realm as president- he wouldn’t be so interesting to him, otherwise. !?!? I think PBO got to where he is because he IS an interesting person–very deep, thoughtful, inspiring. Oh well, to each his own.
Ed, I suspect Michael Lewis put in that disclaimer because at that point he was now being accused of gushing over President Obama and no longer being ‘objective’…
‘Objective’ as it applies only to President Obama where the media is concerned, is code for you must say or write negative and unflattering things and take several sarcastic digs at Presidnt Obama, or else your piece is immediately declared ‘fluff’…
So that was Michael Lewis’ token ‘swipe’ at a man he clearly found incredibly amazing but had to make some offhand comment to ensure he Lewis maintained a certain ironic ‘credibility’ by throwing a silky bone the way of a media so determined not to fully credit or celebrate a man and President so solid, so intrinsically decent, so brilliant, awe-inspiring, so rare…
Historically presidents gain popularity after they have been in office. I think that has happened with Bill Clinton. It is further from his scandal when he was in office.
I am also thinking Obama will gain stature when he is out of office. His has a humble, quiet way all the while getting things done. He is also tough. I would not want to change him. I like his personality as it is.
Yes, that’s what i think will happen, Obama handprint on this country and the world will only grow when his 2nd term is over and outta office. There’s so much f*ckin noise and hate around him right now that it’s hard for some people to see his greatness!! He’s a legend!!
I feel you Obamaboy…most times when I hear these folks go on and on about Bill Clinton, I turn them off. Sometimes I remember what some of these folks used to say about Bill, and I laugh. I also remind myself that after so many years (more than eight) of bad, good and ugly leadership, we needed a GREAT PRESIDENT and that is what we got when the world was blessed with President Obama. The day will come when even these folks will know/feel what we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you see this Obamaboy, PBO has huge International crowds, and domestic crowds whenever he speaks. it is PBO who will be in the HISTORY books as one of the most transformative president the USA ever had NOT Pres Clinton, who will be remembered for other things. Mathews etal will be remembered for NOTHING.
I’m loving this speech, too. This is why he’s the President of the United States. This is why he’s actually the Leader of the Free World. Americans should be proud.
A speech for the ages and one only he could have made so powerfully and convincingly…
Everybody in that room felt like he understood their culture and country even when he seemed to be chiding them…
The way he used the attacks on him here in America since he came into office, was particularly powerful…
In the end the Tea party folks and the evil republicans and hostile opposition continue to wittingly and unwittingly help solidify the undeniable greatness and stature of this great once in a generation leader….
What was interesting was the murmur that went through the crowd when he mentioned the nonsense that he has to put up with. Everybody recognizes the right wing lunacy and media puppetry that President Obama has had to put up with.
i bet other countries would kill to have Obama as their President! He’s loved way more in other countries….well let me not say that….he’s really REALLY popular in other places. They go crazy for him!
GM TODers, I hear you ObamaBoy; but you know what? Obama defeated the Clinton machine. They cannot erase it from history books. Obama is just using politics to move the country, as a whole, forwardt. The people who count listened to Mrs. O and VP Biden (they got more viewers). Obama will always work to unite, therefore, the use of Bill Clinton. If you listen carefully to Clinton himself; his appearance was orchestrated by Obama. The Clintons can use surrogates to try to back stab all they like; it will not work. The Obamas took their case to the America people.
You know what? I don’t give a **** about who gets credit for what. What I care about is that our President gets re-elected. If Clinton can bring in more supporters/votes then good, give him credit.
Yes, I totally agree. I am glad that President Clinton is doing such a good job – I don’t care if he gets kudos for it. I know what PBO stands for, I know his intelligence and grace and I know he is going to win another term as long as there are no shenanigans at the polls I have to add.
A stunner, Dotster, one of his greatest. Can’t wait to read the transcript, my mind was dwelling on so many points he made, I ended up not taking it all in. Magnificent.
That happens to me, too. There are so many gems, so dense with meaning and implication, I have to really focus on not thinking beyond the words as they are spoken. POTUS is an amazing orator. His speeches are full of ideas, emotion, outreach and hope.
Mitt said he has no doubt he will win the election. Could it be because he’s depending on the voter suppression racket to work; in addition, a supreme court, (who gave us Citizens United) back the racketeers.
Naw, he’s trying to convince himself. I think this suppression will get more people who otherwise may not have gone to the polls. Some will be disenfranchised, but there are others who are not. Those folks will be out in droves.
He suffers from a sever case of delusions of grandeur. He has to keep the money coming in when they accept the fact that Romney will lose they will stop giving him money.
They are crooks. When we bought our home in KS, they sent as a bill for our ground line. We never requested their service or even inquired(they work alot with real estate companies). It took us a year to get our name off those bills. We were in hours of contact with someone in India. They kept adding late fees too !!!It was surreal even after we sent through the mail every proof that we never used their company.
Ha ha Mitt’s getting ready to speak somewhere, coming up next. Now would be a good time to see what the ladies on The View are talking about. If I’m Mitt and I jsut heard that speech, I’d be worried. What could he possibly be trying to say right now? His speech now has been rendered irrelevant. It’ll seem like pandering or whining in face of the world stage that PBO just left.
Mitt spoke at the “Clinton Global Initiative” in NY earlier today – his speech was awful – “free enterprise” will save the world. He had a weird smile the whole time he was talking about fairly depressing events.
The President is due to speak at the same event shortly.
I probably should have said “sad events” rather than “depressing events”. It was just weird watching him smile while discussing riots and wars and poverty
Romney is going for the grim as a way of convincing America of some imaginary catastrophe even as all signs point to sunshine and the passing of the dark clouds of a tough period which we have overcome through the steady and calm leadership of President Obama…
No – Mitt is finished (in every way) – according to the White House the President speaks at 12.10pm. He (PBO) made a reference to the speech when speaking to the UN http://www.whitehouse.gov/live
The President has finished his speech and that shriveled-up old prune Mrs. Greenspan has panned it because he didn’t say enough about Afghanistan. Fair and Biased!
The fact that we are getting out of Afghanistan, what else does Alan Greenspan want the President to say. I am so darn tired of the pundits sitting on there behinds telling the President what he should have said. That’s why I listen to POTUS on the computer and forget these media folks.
Magnificent speech. One for all the struggling people of the world. PBO is always doing his best to lift up the spirits of people here and everywhere and to call out destructive forces. BRAVO.
Good Day TOD Family. I am still joyously giving thanks for being alive this morning and hearing our President make one of the speeches that just made history for the world today.
This was one of his best!!!!! We have soooooooooooooooooooo much to be grateful for by having President Barack Obama as the leader of the free world. Those who have hope written upon their hearts and minds will carry with them gems of profound brilliance in a leader, and that leader is our president. What a speech!!!
I love our president, and will do all that I can to get him re-elected for his second term. The world needs him, the young and old need him, and he is the leader for this time in the world. Blessings, wisdom, love, and protection dear angels we pray for our president.
TOD family, allow No One to steal your joy, your hope, your kindness and compassion to continue to also be vessels of the message that our president gave to the world this morning. Allow No One To Take This Joy Away. Turn the music up, listen to the speech again, read your meditations over again, drink another cup of tea or coffee, eat another piece of fruit, drink another glass of tea, water the flowers and sing with the birds, and give thanks for being able to hear this great speech from our president. HZ
Hey Sweetie! I saw your message last night. As usual, you leave beautiful words of encouragement. Thank you. Take good care of yourself — I am sending vibes of health and healing to you, HZ. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama arrive at the 67th United Nations General Assembly, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at U.N. headquarters.
There President Barack Obama goes again – making his critics look small. That was a passionate and powerful speech to the UN General Assembly. His eloquence and grace never ceases to amaze me. I loved the way he started and ended with Ambassador Chris Stevens and our fallen heros. The speech was a tour de force. It was downright hypnotic. I was hanging on to his every word. I was bursting with pride throughout the speech. I can’t wait to watch it again. Pay attention Willard and right wing haters, this is what real leadership looks like.
This kind of comment makes me furious—–looking for something to complain about——ignoring the fact that President Obama was on NBC earlier talking about education—–AND the fact that he just gave a brilliant speech at the U.N. Alex needs to hear some serious push back on this idiotic tweet.
Romney talking education policy on MSNBC and Obama on the View talking… Hannah Montana. #ForeheadSlap— Alex Wagner (@alexwagner) September 25, 2012
Gets to a point they are no longer worth a reply…their digs are like the end scene of Matrix when Neo believes, holds up his hand and the bullets stop and drop. PBO is the real deal and he has shown us so many times in words and actions what he believes in. That’s enough for me to know where to focus.
@alexwagner Oh, please. POTUS is also talking policy and will be talking education later. Oh, and he just gave kick-butt speech to UN.— (@LiberalPhenom) September 25, 2012
Now what did Alex Wagner say when Mitt and Ann Romney was on Live with Kelly discussing Snooki and what Mitt wear to bed at night? Where were Alex then? As I said before these pundits like Alex Wagner is full of alot of B.S.
Furthermore, PBO has an educationa policy….he’s laid it out for nigh 5 years now. He’s done his part; this bimbo needs to take advantage of it, and quick.
Listening to Joe’s speech. Noticed that Joe talked about the new republicans in congress…and the other day PBO said something similar. Seems like they’re shifting to a call to out the repubs!
Yes I noticed that too. They are going after the do nothing congress. PBO will be asking for us to give a Congress he can work with. That’s gonna be the October message. That tells me they feel secure in their own re-election and can now step it up a level.
Thanks for the feedback Susan. I’ve been waiting for this. It’s time to call out the obstructionists. Just imagine where the unemployment rate would be if there had been more cooperation from the Republicans. In fact, I would like to see full page ads in newspapers calling out the obstructionist Republicans. Especially the Republicans who voted against the American Jobs Act and the recent veterans jobs bill. They need to pay a heavy price for this disgusting behavior.
Hello folks. Here’s something light. As if PBO is not fabulous enough, I am here at work with my earbuds in listening to oldies, having a good ole time. Then, along comes “Let’s Stay Together”, except the DJ superimposed PBO’s voice in the opening (as he did it), and the music goes on with the original Al’s lyrics. Well, it threw me off because PBO sounds sexy as hell in stereo, in your ear, and I got a bit of a thrill, and a chill…..LOL. Sounds about as good as Al Green. What a mighty fine man…..whew !! Now I’ll take a look see to find out what you all have been talking about today.
Good morning! Today is National Voter registration day!! Spread the word!!
Don’t take the privilege for granted, register to vote if you haven’t done so already. And make sure your friends, family members, coworkers are registered too.
There are many new laws in different states. Find out if your state has changed the laws and you need to re-register.
Nice TV Pool Photo by Sarah Courtney/Fox New of Pres Obama addressing the UN General Assembly. http://t.co/oC5JOs4O— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) September 25, 2012
Watching UN assembly feed live – waiting for PBO, really the only reason to watch anything, anywhere, anytime. I’m in Nevada and me and myhusband will be voting on Oct 20 – straight DEM ticket – the NONPARTISAN (JUDICIAL) are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Let PA voter suppression law be your guide.
PBO has already spoken. He came on earlier than we thought. Bobfr posted a link above of his speech and there’s text of the speech above as well. Do watch it though, it was phenomenal.
Enjoying The View—–Elizabeth’s attempt at gotcha didn’t even bother me, as PBO swatted that one away with ease. President Obama always sounds so sensible and reasonable and smart about everything, I can’t believe there would be one viewer who would not vote for him. Fun to listen to them talk a little bit about their home life too. Ooooh—just aired the “I’m so in love with you” tape too for a little added enjoyment. Those who were hoping Michelle might run for office some day are likely to be disappointed tho—–PBO said she would be great but he doesn’t think she has the temperament—–and she agreed—-said no way—–she doesn’t have the patience required. I’ve always thought she has the more intense personality, a balance to his “no drama Obama” demeanor. Funny at the end when the president kissed Barbara Happy Birthday, and she held her heart like she was overcome with the sweet gesture by this most wonderful human being.
I’ve always thought that Michelle when they talk about what’s being said by idiots all around them, that Michelle’s probably pretty hot-headed and indignant like the rest of us – probably more so, since he’s her husband! She even said a couple of years ago that President Obama told her to just stop watching the cable shows, so she switched to silly tv. I think she must have been losing her mind over the nonsense. She seems like a very passionate person – it must drive her crazy to hear right wing loons continuously pontificating on matters they know nothing about – especially the ones who think the world started 6000 years ago.
What wife would like the B.S. which is being said about their husband, the father of her kids. I look forward to the book FLOTUS will write some time after they are after the WH in 2016.
I don’t think we’ll ever fully know the full facts about what they’ve thought of all this nonsense they’ve had to live through. I think they will always keep it secret, and their close friends will never write tell-all books about it, either. We may get a tiny glimpse, but they are always going to have a duty to this country, now that they’ve been the First Family, and I think that releasing their true thoughts about this nonsense may make so many of us so angry that it would be ugly for those responsible. We know what they’re thinking – they’re just too classy to say so.
Did anyone see Dean Baker ( I think he was on the Ed show ) talking about Mitt’s taxes and what Mitt said about his income already being taxed once at the Corporate Level ?
Well, Baker says that Bain Capital is NOT a corporation…..it was, and still is a Partnership and they don’t pay corporate income tax rates.
I was going back and forth between some shows, so I am not sure what else he said about this.
Anyone else feel almost giddily guilty to be so happy before Nov. 7?
Yes, I plan to continue being upbeat no matter what GOPs & pundits throw at the wall.
You talking to yourself, vc?
I do it ALL the time!
hi vc…almost lights out for me, will take a quick look at our Pres
Sweet dreams, Berny! I’m sure our Pres’ words will help you to have a more restful sleep.
I do with only one caveat — I am extremely concerned about voter disenfranchisement.
I’m with you on that Jackie, lovely as the polls have been, it’s still hard not to worry about turnout and, more so, voter suppression – we know already these people are capable of anything, especially when they’re desperate.
On that subject Jackie:
The voter suppression laws being enacted in states around the country could have the cumulative effect of blocking the ballots of 10 million Latino citizens who could have otherwise legally voted, according to a new study.

I have seen too much over the years to believe that the GOP will not use all the dirty tricks in their tool chest to make that happen.
This. They are capable of anything to get what they want – power; nothing else.
Yeah.

Good morning vc. That’s twice today already..Isn’t it?
Sssh, Yardarm! Do not be raising the alarm because then the forces, ….oops… relatives will come alive with greater determination. Some things are best accomplished with stealth and in silence.
Plus, I’m going to stop while I’m ahead.
A very ‘Good Morning’ to you, Yardarm!
I’ll believe THAT when I see it.
I’m watching you, girl!
Who? Me?
Thank you, Chips. The time for this event was listed wrong on other sites.
Hiya Meta, I noticed that too, so I was hopelessly confused – but the White House site had it at 10:10, so that was probably the safest bet. Although, I’d be surprised if it’s on time, some of the leaders speaking in the last hour don’t, eh, seem to know when to stop!
Well, I thought the session was to begin at 10am with POTUS speaking at 11am, but as you say, who knows?!
YOU ARE AWARE the Pres IS SPEAKING NOW, right?
Staples is closing stores…I thought this was Mitt’s Wonder Baby!

The simple truth…..

Hint hint? LOL!
LOL! It’s a great idea. We can’t win if we don’t vote.
Today is the Day Akin has got to be the Senate GOP Nominee.
Yup yup!
He could win , right ?
Against McCaskil? I doubt it! All she has to do is remind people what he said.
Akin has a press conference today. I suspect he’s gonna be out. I understand that the debate with McCaskill didn’t go well
Good Morning TOD Family.
Have a great day!!!
Good luck, if you see anything fishy, call OFA and report it.
http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2012/09/obama-as-transformational-president.html This
good article. the comparison to reagan was making me ill, but this turns it around.
A decent assessment about the state of the campaign——Romney hurt by improving consumer confidence in the economy—–see it’s at an 8 month high.

NASCAR?!?!
And the military….http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014242460
No way.
Way
Byron Tau just told me that it’s Zogby so it dies not count. LOL! What a Moron.
Shocked me too.
Take note, Willard. You’re about to see a Real President doing Real Presidential Things.
Indeed.
President Obama is simply magnificent…
This speech will be remembered for generations to come…
Absolutely fantastic…
Consumer confidence rises to a seven month high:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-25/consumer-confidence-in-u-s-increases-to-a-seven-month-high.html
Chris Stephens – Always does President Obama know what is the right thing to say, when is the right time to say it – and where is the right place to say it.
Good morning y’all
Listening to our President, I am in tears.
Me too Mae. I so proud of him. The voice of reason.
Anybody live-blogging the event?
What an eloquent start to the UN speech!
I so agree – but this is an arena in which he can say such things – I love that he quoted Mandela
Yes, exactly. I wish everyone could see how great he’s been for everyone. He truly is The People’s President.
I’m with you OB – I stopped reading Andrew Sullivan because he said Bill Clinton won the election for President Obama.
Listen to the speech to the UN – this is the President that the world loves.
They love Clinton because he gave them plenty of news for years. Obama is scandal-free, gaffe-free, problem-free. They are mad because he does his job and does it with style. No salacious news stories there, ya know?
Duly noted. So come down and enjoy the rest of your day.
Absolutely spot on…
Thank you theo!! Not only did Obama beat the Clinton machine, but he got the most votes winning an presidential election EVER!!
And Michael Lewis went on to predict that President Obama would in the future also make an incredibly powerful argument on behalf of whatever Democrat comes after him…
http://www.bloomberg.com/video/lewis-the-president-isn-t-going-to-make-a-friend-lil1ja5LQZ6GUDEnl0_f6g.html
Thanks you Chi!!
OK I know what PBO can do after 2016 – become president of the world. This speech is awesome!
I want the text of this speech! Bet it will get absolutely minimal coverage in US media. SHAME!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/president-obamas-2012-address-to-un-general-assembly-full-text/2012/09/25/70bc1fce-071d-11e2-afff-d6c7f20a83bf_print.html
I’m loving this speech, too. This is why he’s the President of the United States. This is why he’s actually the Leader of the Free World. Americans should be proud.
He was simply magnificent…
The audience shook their heads and they all seemed very familiar with the unprovoked attacks on Presidnt Obama by the crazies here in America…
The whole world is watching and they know…
i bet other countries would kill to have Obama as their President! He’s loved way more in other countries….well let me not say that….he’s really REALLY popular in other places. They go crazy for him!
This is right up there with his best. OMG this is the Cairo speech or pretty damn near it. Can you imagine Romney giving this speech?
Oh please…he’d be lecturing and threatening and fueling the evil in people not trying to engage their greatness.
He’d probably say you’re either with us or against us. Then name 5 axises of evil.
YUP
no
Romney probably wouldn’t even attend.
Our daughters must have the rights of our sons – I’m so glad this got mentioned.
We must be strengthened by our differences, not defined by them. A secure Israel, and an independent Palestine.
The UN needs a makeover….that room reminds me of the 70′s green marble ..
Absolutely spot on …
You know what? I don’t give a **** about who gets credit for what. What I care about is that our President gets re-elected. If Clinton can bring in more supporters/votes then good, give him credit.
Yes, I totally agree. I am glad that President Clinton is doing such a good job – I don’t care if he gets kudos for it. I know what PBO stands for, I know his intelligence and grace and I know he is going to win another term as long as there are no shenanigans at the polls I have to add.
Governments serve their people, not the other way around.
Hillary looked entranced on the short view I saw
What a speech – in the midst of an election, he has time to get this SO right. Mitt Romney should be weeping
I know – I don’t know how President Obama does it all – so seamlessly.
Wow, that U.N. speech!—–brilliant and moving—-brought me to tears more than a few times. Impressive beyond belief—-a true leader.
Here’s the text, Chips
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/president-obamas-2012-address-to-un-general-assembly-full-text/2012/09/25/70bc1fce-071d-11e2-afff-d6c7f20a83bf_print.html
Thanks a million Susan!
Martha, I think what you heard is scared man whistling in the dark.
I am on hold with AT & T since 10:26 AM.
Just thought I would put that out there…
Hubby and I feel your pain … we were there yesterday … only they gave us a call back in 6 minutes or less .. and believe it or not, they did!
Iam so proud of the man and your President. Can you imagine that bare-faced lying plonker Romney even coming near that,me neither!
We are so proud of him sheinfrance…
He is indeed awe-inducing…
Oh when does PBO speak? I thought I’d caught some of what Mitt said earlier. Don’t tell me he gets to speak again? Say it ain’t so!
12:10 ET, Cookemom – will post a heads up
No – Mitt is finished (in every way) – according to the White House the President speaks at 12.10pm. He (PBO) made a reference to the speech when speaking to the UN
http://www.whitehouse.gov/live
Well, Mitt has promised to bring “Freedom” to America. Not sure who isn’t free… but that’s his really big policy foundation.
True and yet a Mitt speech that sounds pandering or whining is just like every other speech he does.
The President has finished his speech and that shriveled-up old prune Mrs. Greenspan has panned it because he didn’t say enough about Afghanistan. Fair and Biased!
hahahahaha…..
The fact that we are getting out of Afghanistan, what else does Alan Greenspan want the President to say. I am so darn tired of the pundits sitting on there behinds telling the President what he should have said. That’s why I listen to POTUS on the computer and forget these media folks.
Now on to the View.
Magnificent speech. One for all the struggling people of the world. PBO is always doing his best to lift up the spirits of people here and everywhere and to call out destructive forces. BRAVO.
THe View is on.
VP Biden speaking in Virginia now:

Lavish, LAVISH, gimme some lavish!
She wore this outfit during their trip to London. It was gorgeous then and now.
Is it possible that she is looking for some attention by writting such a stupid comment?
who is Alex Wagner again, and why should we care about her tweets?
Somebody tell Wagner to take care of her PMS !
Gets to a point they are no longer worth a reply…their digs are like the end scene of Matrix when Neo believes, holds up his hand and the bullets stop and drop. PBO is the real deal and he has shown us so many times in words and actions what he believes in. That’s enough for me to know where to focus.
Hey Berny,
Still waiting…about 2 weeks they say…
‘nuf said … she’s your typical #NEWSTAINER ….
The only reason MSNBC is bitching about The View today is because they know those ratings are going to disappear from having Mitt on.
Here’s something she can chew on ….
Oh, that’s why the GOP does not like him being on the View. Because, he gets to hit all the topics, and he is so damn good…
Now I get it. LOL!
The GOP doesn’t like President Obama to do anything, Jovie. They don’t need an excuse – they’re just hateful.
A full bore coordinated attack on all fronts. Naming names, encouraging support for their opponents. DCC on this?? Let’s hope LH and cookemom
WOOOOHOOOO…MADE IT HOME JUST IN TIME TO WATCH PBO AT THE UN…AWESOME!…:)
DARN…I THO’T IT WAS AT NOON…HAD CLASS THIS MORNING…HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE VIDEO!
Hi Sue, there’s a link I posted to the transcript upthread. It was amazing!
Just noticed, Bobfr has the link to video downthread!
I can only imagine!
Chips, everyone … CSPAN video of the President’s UN Speech:
http://www.c-span.org/Events/World-Leaders-Pres-Obama-Speak-at-UN-General-Assembly/10737434383-1/
Thank you, Bobfr! Am listening now, & peaking a look now & then!
There are several sites you can use:
http://www.canivote.org/
https://turbovote.org/register
https://www.gottaregister.com/
http://vote.barackobama.com/en/?choose-state=true
Watching UN assembly feed live – waiting for PBO, really the only reason to watch anything, anywhere, anytime. I’m in Nevada and me and myhusband will be voting on Oct 20 – straight DEM ticket – the NONPARTISAN (JUDICIAL) are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Let PA voter suppression law be your guide.
PBO has already spoken. He came on earlier than we thought. Bobfr posted a link above of his speech and there’s text of the speech above as well. Do watch it though, it was phenomenal.
Yep
I realized that after about 45 minutes. This means seeing the First Lady and PBO – DAMMIT!! In the meantime, I am watching his speech and love it.
Now isn’t that something? I was just thinking about going back to school and PBO needs a student. Sounds like a fit to me.
OK where do I sign up?
Heads up everyone:
