I like this post from PORUPAIXPOURPAIX about Mitt FP Op ED (CBS News) Mitt Romney is out with a foreign-policy focused op-ed where he criticizes President Obama’s strategy in the Middle East for lacking coherence and resolve. In his prescription for success, Romney connects success overseas with economic success domestically. “President Obama has allowed our leadership to atrophy,” Romney wrote in the Wall Street Journal.
The Post from PORUPAIXPOURPAIX is below
POURPAIXPOURPAIX says:Romney has a point. We should be doing what we do best. What do we do best? Well, after outspending the next 14 highest defense spenders in the world, the only thing left that America does well is kill people. In fact, we love killing people. It’s come to what America represents in the world today, death. We don’t care about our old folks because they don’t contribute to the killing machine. They are only a burden. Romney and Ryan don’t figure they can line up the worthless and shoot them, at least until they take office. Better, we make it so they can’t survive. Maybe senior centers will take the hint and start suicide parties.
Romney is absolutely correct in that foreign policy is the biggest factor in economic success at home. Obvious, of course. Just look at the sorry state the Union was in by the end of the Clinton administration. Bush sure took care of that in a hurry, and we all know that Obama started making America’s policy shifts in 2006 that plunged our economy into ruins. It wasn’t the wars; it was Obama. Now Obama wants to cut the military when we should be invading Iran, Syria, Egypt, and Pakistan because they don’t do what we tell them to do. After all, it is America’s right to attack and kill at the merest hint of insubordination by any foreigner. Come to think of it, Russia and China haven’t been too cooperative lately. Surely, everyone can see America has a lot of killing to do and can’t afford defense cuts. It’s our purpose befitting our leading aggressor state status to bring murder, disaster, and destitution to the people of this world.
Best of all, Romney can blame Obama for not starting a bunch of wars as his reason to invade the entire Middle East from Africa to Iran. I guess that will be expensive. Maybe we need to start shooting the Americans who are elderly, sick, or other non-contributors to our aggressor state policies. If someone can’t be a soldier, make babies who will become soldiers, or design/assemble weapons, they are no use to our neo-society. That’s why we need to put guns in the hands of every man, woman, grandmother, and child. Let no slacker be safe in any school, movie theater, or post office. Why doesn’t everybody understand these most basic Republican points as simple common sense?
Mitt’s zinger practice reminds me of the 2008 Saturday Night Live skit of the Vice President debate (which I apparently have memorized). As they are introduced, “Sarah Palin” says to “Joe Biden”: Can I call you “Joe”? Good, because I practiced some zingers where I call you “Joe”!
I think in the real debate, Palin did ask to call him “Joe”, because she kept calling him O’Biden. And she still did call him O’Biden at least once.
This focus on “zingers” is so Mitt Romney. A debating strategy based on how many pithy “zingers” he can deliver. Brilliant. I guess that’s what you have to do when you can’t provide any SPECIFICS or CONSISTENCY and you have a problem with ARITHMETIC.
That whole zinger mentality is Mittwit still trying to lay to his base. They value the old rock em, sock em, combative style of debating. Notice their reaction during the Repub primaries. They were ecstatic when Newt got on the moderator, and when the gay soldier asked a question, when the let him die response to healthcare. Mitt is needing them to say he won the debate, and zingers are as much intelligence they can handle.

Poll out today, the public already thinks the President will win the debate, by 24 points.
How does the Media report that? By saying, it’s good news for Mitt Romney, because the expectations are so low.
They spin everything.
Problem is, the right says the same thing that we do, about the media.

LYIN RYAN’S MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE ‘REVENUE NEUTRAL’ TAX PLAN
Paul Ryan: Cut taxes first, balance budget later
By Greg Sargent
—————————————-
That is as clear a statement of priorities as you could want. Ryan admits that even if the math in their plan can’t work, that even if the tax cuts cannot be paid for by ending loopholes and deductions on the wealthy, he and Ryan would not scale back their planned tax cuts on the rich one penny. And don’t worry, this won’t explode the deficit, because just trust us, the revenues generated by the growth unleashed by the tax cuts will ultimately pay for the plan.
The consensus among many mainstream economists is that this is a “fantasy,” and as Jonathan Bernstein has noted, the same promise by previous GOP presidents has proven it to be magical thinking. Romney himself has admitted under questioning that such thinking is his fallback, too. But yesterday Ryan went considerably further, by explicitly confirming tax cuts are to be prioritized over revenue-neutrality.
The Romney tax plan promises everyone an across the board tax cut, which would be paid for by ending loopholes and deductions, beginning with those enjoyed by the rich. Romney promises that the plan would be revenue neutral. The Tax Policy Center found, however, that it’s mathematically impossible to keep all these promises
WASHINGTON (AP) — American Express Co. is paying $112.5 million in refunds and fines to settle regulators’ accusations that it charged unlawful late fees and deceived customers to pressure them to pay off old debts or buy extra credit card services.
The company agreed to the settlements announced Monday by four federal agencies, including the Federal Reserve and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Utah regulators.
American Express is refunding $85 million to about 250,000 customers and is paying $27.5 million in civil fines.
So I posted last time about a conservative friend of mine who was mouthing off about the ACA and I posted my response to her. Well this time I’ma tell ya’ll about a another friend of mine. We went to high school together. I can’t say that we even ran in the same clique in high school, but my graduating high school class was only 333 students and since it was a magnet school and at the time you had to test into the school, the majority of the class were always the same from 9th -12th grams.
Just a little background, I went to an predominantly (i.e. all) Black magnet school in NOLA, so the person I am talking about is a black male 35-36 years old. So anyway, around the same time I got on FB (2008/2009), I began to frequent the poli sci blogs like this one. I rarely if ever posted anything political to my FB, but since the 2010 midterms, I began to post more political stuff, i.e. pics, blog posts, articles, and whatever piqued my interest. So today I posted the pic of President Obama giving the kid a high-five and the kids cute reaction to it, and this is what my friend wrote:
Friend: “he left dad hanging, lol, its all about the kids in so many words. You are the one person in my friends list that find and post things that make me like Obama more, because Im fixated on my views and I dont really like no president like that no matter who because the whole party division is one big joke, democratic government/democratic president, its should be a no-brainer.But when I see pics like this and see the human side of Obama Im stopped in my tracks and I always have to admire it.I dont think no president can totally be human because of the job but Obama is damn sure the closest thing we ever had to it….” Lamh35 -I love lil man’s fist pump As for POTUS, I hear how you feel, and I actually know a friend or family member who seem to feel the same way, but I’ve become a poli sci nut, so I live and breath this stuff. I literally read and digest so much poli sic info that I find of interest and that I think people I know and love should be aware of and I like to share with friends an fam so that even if they do believe that all politicians are the same, being informed and aware of what’s going on in politics is still very important Friend: “you do the best job at it to if I didnt have u in my friends list I dont think I would get it…” Lamh35: “no prob…expect more to come…lol. You’ll never be able to say your uninformed…Lol”
Hey, knock it off, Sailor. Where do you think you’re going? You’ve got decades more to stick around and annoy (uh … I meant inspire!) the yunguns. Who’s gonna corral those who drift away better than you (other than lamh35)? Fool. (Yep, I called ya that.)
Excellent – one more heart reached. I’m always pleasantly surprised when my friends now initiate a discussion on politics or post comments to my Facebook page about something I’ve posted – even if it’s just a “like”. They used to be completely silent and many said they never talk politics. I might be one of the only few people that they actually speak to about politics – and they know I post news every single day.
Hopefully, you’ll inspire him to escape his cynicism and actually start to learn about what is actually going on and how powerful his vote can be. It’s the people who have the power, and they get the government they demand. Well done!
That’s so great Lamh35. I definitely am not a political person, but I AM AN OBAMA PERSON. So, I put a lot of stuff on my FB page too. I was talking to my BFF last night and she was telling me about her cruise she went on. She said that they sat her and the friend she went with at a table with other people. Well these people started talking about Mitt Romney and she said she told the friend, “they are going to have to move us because I don’t want to hear this.” Well, they said something or the other about healthcare and my BFF came back with all types of facts about Obamacare. She told me after that convo, the friend said, “you must have been talking to LadyTNT. She is rubbing off on you because I know she’s Team Obama all the way.” My BFF said all she could do was laugh. I LMAO off!! I was so proud of her!! And she said she’s going to phonebank with me soon. So, posting stuff on fb and talking to friends help. Mrs. O is definitely right, all it takes is one!!! FORWARD!!!

‘ In the latest Romney campaign reboot, the candidate has made a central theme of President Obama’s alleged softness on China.
~
Romney’s recently released tax returns show that he invested in the parent company of Youku, a sort of Chinese YouTube that was a haven for pirated movies and TV shows, though the company is now apparently cleaning up its act.
Another notable Romney investment, which has so far gone unnoticed, was in a Chinese private education company that was cited repeatedly in the late 1990s for selling bootleg American graduate school entrance exams and was forced by a Chinese court to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines in a landmark copyright case. ‘

Anybody have any thoughts as to WHY Queen Ann would make such a statement? I don’t think she’s 100 percent like Mitt (i.e., says whatever comes to her mind with no filters – well, maybe she’s 95 percent like him, because neither cares how they come across). To me, there is a tinge of her trying to throw him under the bus. I mean, would any of us say that about our husband or wife when they are running for the highest office and our only job is to support that? Just DOES NOT make sense to me (actually, nothing they do makes sense to me, of course, but this is MAJOR). She didn’t say “it’s a huge undertaking and I’ll be by his side to keep him grounded.” In effect, she said she thinks he’ll freak out and do a Nixon, if he ever gets close to residing in the White House (as if).
I think she’s been in too many losing campaigns and has resorted to saying the first thing that comes into her mind – in this case Mitt’s sanity. Given what she has lived through – she knows him best.
I believe there is a touch of honesty in that statement. He’s been running for President for so long and just assumed that he could just show up and everyone would vote for him. Now he is finding out that he has to work for the job, and people still like POTUS. I think that the stress of having to actually campaign is getting to him, and Ann can see him falling apart. No spouse would make a comment like that unless she was concerned about him being able to handle the job.
Jacqueline, everyone, appreciate the RTs. I will not leave this issue alone until the polls close on 6 Nov, unless the ’4thEstate’ does its job, as it did with #47Percent, and begin probing this bone chilling assessment of a Presidential candidate by someone who has lived with him for 43+ years.

Medicare is launching new initiatives to reward hospitals for good clinical practices and penalize them for high readmission rates.
The efforts, mandated by President Obama’s healthcare reform law, are meant to encourage better and more standardized care in the Medicare program.
Starting Monday, Medicare will retain 1 percent of its hospital reimbursements and redistribute the money based on how well hospitals adhere to clinical guidelines and score on patient-satisfaction surveys.

Paul Ryan defended his refusal to go into the specifics of Mitt Romney’s tax plan during a Sunday interview, saying on Monday that he likes Fox News host Chris Wallace too much to turn off his viewers by talking math.
“I like Chris,” Ryan told Wisconsin radio host Charlie Sykes Monday, via the Washington Post. ”I didn’t want to get into all the math of this because everybody would start changing the channel.”

Congress/Senate Candidate Support Tweetage… (note some key debates take place tonight)
Wow. We have some great candidates. Thanks for reminding us, Dudette!
Poll out today, the public already thinks the President will win the debate, by 24 points.
How does the Media report that? By saying, it’s good news for Mitt Romney, because the expectations are so low.
They spin everything.
Problem is, the right says the same thing that we do, about the media.
If the MSM were not so dishonest and biased, they would not run into these problems.
Good one, Tally. ‘Cause that’s the way it really is. And I cringe.
My response to Markie Markie:
@markknoller Good spin. You fail, however, to mention that it’s because Romney Campaign spox said they are feeding Mitt zingers. Try again.
Listen to Terry…
Awwww….
Ok I’m not trying to be funny here, but you know that adage of owners and pets looking alike? Well I’m just sayin…..cute pup.
Swear to Gawd, I thought the EXACT same thing!!
I do see the resemblance.

CFPB is kicking ass.
Woot!
G’on with yo bad self. I can leave here knowing ‘it’s in good hands’ with some of you yunguns.
Well done!
I hope this means your friend will vote! Yes these types of pictures humanize the man and the office.
Way to go lamh!! Woot!
lamh35 – Dynamite!
FORWARD!!!
darn, another zinger he can’t use:

Off to R/T that perfect message, Bobfr!
No doubt you are right about that.
Yes, and I also think very few spouses would announce that to the world via a broadcasted interview. Unreal.
Thank you.
#FORWARD
Anne’s face doesn’t move.
Queenie looks 20 years older than her robot. she needs to do something about that.
Sure it does. from scowl to scowlier.
That’s sooooo wrong. If I do that I’d have to leave me Rhum and Jack Daniels in the Paint Locker.
My thoughts exactly. Didn’t Mitt even lie about his first name at one of the debates? I say we take a shot every time he ends a statement without that horrific chuckle of his. Maybe that will let us have one or two shots during the evening.
I dunno theo. His handlers prolly told him not to do that. I’m afraid that using Talley’s formula is gonna leave us with dry throats, eh?
Maybe we can drink BEFORE the debates start – might be more exciting that way…
Aye matey. Now there’s a thought, indeed!
i planned on drinking anyway. that’s the only way i could possibly sit through 90 minutes of that bullshit artist. I don’t have to go on campus till 2pm on thursday anyway so it’s okay if i have a hangover.
testing
you passed.
A+

When it comes to this Presidential election, that’s all I’d really need to know. No contest!

Police Log Report Contradicts Romney’s Account Of 1981 Arrest
After the debates tonight, switch to PBS at 9ET and check out Half The Sky…
CNN poll is 50-47 Obama.
They spun that as good news for Robney!
I say this to CNN and their damned poll ….
From now on, everything is gonna be good news for Romney.
You noticed?
Yup but we must remain focused.
At this point in 2008, everything was good news for McCain. It’s going to take many years to undo the damage of the past 30. That includes the “liberal media”.
I think Wayne Powell is feeling pretty confident! Good for him! Kick some Cantor ass!
I’ve forgotten how to post a video, but I’ll try
Fixed the link for you Hgerhard, looooooooooooooooooove it, thank you!
Fixed.
Got ya covered hgerhard. Hey, this is nice. Thanks for sharing it!
The trick:
From youtube, click on the Share box below the video. A little box opens up. Copy the URL in the little box. Then paste it where you like.
That never works for me. I have to go through contortions to get video posted here. But I’m willing to try again. So, in that spirit, let’s see if this works…

Ryan: I Didn’t Explain Tax Math Because People Would Change The Channel
————————–
Paul Ryan defended his refusal to go into the specifics of Mitt Romney’s tax plan during a Sunday interview, saying on Monday that he likes Fox News host Chris Wallace too much to turn off his viewers by talking math.
“I like Chris,” Ryan told Wisconsin radio host Charlie Sykes Monday, via the Washington Post. ”I didn’t want to get into all the math of this because everybody would start changing the channel.”
