I don’t remember what Michelle was wearing…I was too busy pretending to be her to see what we…er, she, had on…..if that was me, it might not have stayed on too long!
Yardarm, I love it when the ladies here get all hot and bothered to qualify being sent to the naughty mat! This tells me that they will always have the President’s back no matter what. I know ladies were passionate about JFK and, to a certain extent, Bill Clinton. But I really don’t remember any other President, in my lifetime, who was as passionately loved by women as President Obama is right now. I think women will be the decisive factor in this election. This bodes well for President Obama.
Willard has now put himself in the “Poopie Locker”. What he’s said then and what he means now is gonna be out there for the world to see. Tough to explain? Naw, Mitt can do it. He could pull a logging chain out of a lions butt and dare it to move.
Yes, all 5 of them said it. And meant every word.
Is this man a clone or what?
Did anybody see the movie years ago,”The Boys From Brazil”
If you get a chance, please checks it out. Reminds me of this fool, Mitt.
How can one person lie so much?
I am so glad the moderator or PBO mentioned the 47% during the debate.
Even though, secretly I yelled it out too many times at the television.
Now, I see that would have given this lying fool a chance to look into the camera and repent from his mouth, not from his heart.
Thank you, Mr. President for holding your peace.
“I am so glad the moderator or PBO did not mention the 47% during the debate. Now, I see that would have given this lying fool a chance to look into the camera and repent from his mouth, not from his heart.”
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina’s population has nearly doubled since 1970, fueled by an economic expansion that brought an influx of Midwesterners, Northeasterners and nonwhites and turning the state from a Republican presidential stronghold into a battleground.
Among the new residents: Carol Fentiman, 66, a Chicago native who retired with her husband to the western Carolina mountains seven years ago from California and is a Democratic Party volunteer. And Piper Phillips, 18, a college student who moved here a year ago from Ohio and who will cast her first presidential ballot this year for Barack Obama.
To explain their upcoming votes, both cited women’s health care and abortion rights, civil rights for gay Americans and equal pay for women.
“I’d like to be considered an equal citizen in this country,” Fentiman said.
On the strength of young voters, African-Americans and urban voters – many of them born elsewhere – Obama won North Carolina in 2008 by 14,177 votes out of 4.3 million. He was the first Democrat to prevail here since Georgia’s Jimmy Carter managed a Southern sweep in 1976. Democrats chose Charlotte for their 2012 nominating convention, and polls suggest another thin margin between the president and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
Obama’s win surprised many of the state’s political players.
Advantages from a younger, less native, less white, more urban electorate weren’t expected to level the field for Democrats so soon, but Obama employed an extensive ground game that, four years later, still operates more than 50 field offices. Those outposts use volunteers like Fentiman to register tens of thousands of new voters like Phillips.
“Obama sped up the clock,” said Ferrel Guillory, a University of North Carolina expert on Southern politics. Guillory said the winning threshold for Democrats had been 40 percent of the white vote statewide. “Obama proved you could win with 36 or 37 percent,” he said.
North Carolina’s growth is due to economic diversification that distinguished the state from its Southern neighbors. An agrarian and manufacturing economy dominated by tobacco, furniture and textiles gave way to banking centers in Charlotte, myriad health care enterprises and the biomedical and technology firms in the Research Triangle of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Much of it is connected to a network of well-regarded public and private universities.
So, I work tomorrow, and Sunday there’s a local festival at which the library will have a booth. You know what that means? NO CHELSEA FOR ME!!!!!!! But, thanks to my evil union, I have Monday off for Columbus Day, and I get time and a half on Sunday.
Sorry Jovie, your comment got stuck in pending, there must have been a word in the article that matched one on the blocked list at the site (ie names/email addresses of Fire/Teabaggers/freaks) – freed the comment!
So even with 3 GOP-leaning polls released today, Princeton’s Sam Wang still has PBO winning rather comfortably. Man, too bad Romney “won” the first debate.
They were polls of Ohio, Florida, and Virginia. They all showed Romney ahead. But, again, they’re all GOP leaning pollsters. More polling will come out in the next few days.
I’ve always wondered why The Last Word didn’t do a Friday show. I assumed it cause Lawrence tapes the show from LA right? I had assumed that as a former screen writer he lived mostly in LA
A strange one Lamh, you’d imagine a Friday show would be the most important, summing up the week. Intrigued about tonight’s special, I hope it doesn’t turn out to be much ado about nothing!
Chips, I heard Ezra Klein.. Can we all do a write-in campaign for Joy-Ann Reid and Ari Melber. These are two great people who are funny, hip< smart as a whip, down to earth, and on top of their game..
When Ed used to be in the same timeslot he did not have a Fri show and was 4 days a week. It was when Ed started doing the Union support reporting on site in Wisconsin his numbers went up and he got his present position and Lawrence moved to his old time slot. I figured it was due to the watch count. Also I don’t think as many people watch on Friday nights. It is the beginning of the weekend, date night or whatever so the prison stuff started on the weekend schedule.
Fridays are also called Take Out the Trash Day according to Lawrence. He showed a segment on West Wing with that as the topic. It is the day the WH or political groups put out bad news so no one notices.
OKAY folks, this looks like some bait and switch bullshit. Apart from the fact that Ezra Klein is hosting and not Lawrence, the entire lineup is filled with questionable pundits…Maggie from Politico? Sam Stein of HP? Wishy-washy Capehart?
What happened to Richard Wolfe, Joy Ann Reid, Krystal Ball, etc. And most importantly, why call the show “The Last Word” if Lawrence is not even hosting?
Call me paranoid but I can’t help but be a bit curious as to MSNBC’s agenda here. It’s Friday night and they decide to have this “Last Word special” as they call it, but the person who normally hosts is absent. Then just by looking at the panel, I’m getting the distinct impression that this little “special” will not be friendly or fair to PBO, but will be an opportunity to bash PBO, take cheap gratuitous shots at him, reinforce a narrative that MSNBC was determined to set post debate on Wednesday night into Thursday.
Again, I have to ask: are they afraid that their anti-Obama narrative is quickly fading because of all the things that happened in the last 24-36 hrs with Big Bird, Jobs report, Stock Market, etc?

Ken offers a fun presentation of some very serious information. It’s worth a listen.
What if Obama had debated as aggressively as Romney/James Braxton Peterson
In the immediate run-up to the debate, right-wing bloggers in concert with Fox News “revealed” a 2007 Obama campaign speech delivered at Hampton University that, according to them, reflected the president’s penchant for angry, racially divisive politics. It’s not hard to imagine that the president’s strategists saw this as a red herring. It may be difficult for many to consider that a lowbrow distraction designed by Tucker Carlson could affect the president’s debate strategy, but once we consider the demographics of the undecided, the sad capacity for some to drink the Fox flavored Kool Aid, and the facts of the post-debate news coverage, maybe the president’s restrained performance on Wednesday night makes a little more sense.
- the employment figures are wrong – no way is unemployment below 8% – that would mean some of that 47% got a job and we all know they don’t want to work
- lying is simply the art of campaigning – you tell different things to different groups of people because that’s how you win an election. If you told everyone the same thing – you wouldn’t raise money and you might lose the election
- Look at those polls – Mitt is streaking ahead – But are these the same polls that were WRONG last week. The ones that they had to change to get the right story
Some of the people telling these stories are those leaders of industry that Mitt Romney says the country needs – they lie and cheat and accuse the President and his administration of doing what they themselves do – the GOP has no integrity – NONE. They need to implode from the liars at the top, to the wingnuts at the bottom
I also read via BJ that a federal appeals court backed a trial judge’s decision to block a measure that restricted early voting in the swing state (Ohio). Now that is good news for John McCain and a win for those who believe in “of the people, by the people, for the people”.
Today a statue of Fannie Lou Hamer was unveiled in Ruleville, Mississippi. The presentation drew hundreds. The statue was dedicated one day before what would’ve been Ms. Hamer’s 95th birthday.

Without a doubt.

Congrats Africa, Elle & LDS for your podium finish!
Danka vC,
I freaking love our team. They stand back and let you destroy yourself.
Willard has now put himself in the “Poopie Locker”. What he’s said then and what he means now is gonna be out there for the world to see. Tough to explain? Naw, Mitt can do it. He could pull a logging chain out of a lions butt and dare it to move.

Hiya, HF, couple more hours of work, then home, sweet, home!
Team Obama must be cracking up in Chicago.
Thank you VC. Congrats, ladies 1&2.
I am so glad the moderator or PBO mentioned the 47% during the debate.

how’s everyone’s day today. I saw Taken 2 with a friend today. It was exactly what I expected, but not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
Anyone catch the new Sherlock tv show on CBS with Lucy Liu as Watson? I liked the premiere. I”m def adding it to my DVR queue.

Ohio, FL, and VA, by a couple of points.

Yes, Ezra Klein is hosting. And the panel of invited pundits sucks big time. I’m not liking the sound of this at all.

Oh shit, this might not end well for somebody.
Debate hysteria, or Jobs truthers? Or both?
It’s a bait and switch..Ezra Klein is hosting and the panel looks shitty, to put it nicely. See my further comments below.
I heard Tweenty say it today, I’m excited!!!!
Don’t get to excited, Ezra Klein will be hosting the Last Word tonight.
Ezra Klein is the Host.
No thanks!
Lawrence must have something very important to say or why else would he give up a Friday night with the lovely Tamron Hall.
