LOL. I meant this past week which had fairweather friends rending garments. Sorry for not being clearer. It’s already been a long day, and we just opened the library.
LL – Were you at the American Library Association summer conference in ’05, held in Chicago, when then-Senator Barack Obama spoke? My niece attended, and sent me some of her print stuff from it, during the ’08 campaign. She remembered how he had all kinds of facts on education, etc., in his head, and everybody was amazed. I just dug out a story from her on his appearance, which read, in part:
” … Obama geared his talk to reflect his youthful love of libraries and to acknowledge how it shaped the adult he has become. Calling the attendees ‘full-time defenders’ of our freedoms [that would be you, LL], he didn’t waste much time getting to the USA PATRIOT Act and repeating a sentence from his DNC speech [in 04] that had brought him so much attention, ‘We don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries … ‘”
I also found this photo caption:
“U.S. senator Barak [apparently, before anybody knew exactly how to spell his first name - duh - although it was spelled right in the story part] Obama walks onto the ALA stage amid rousing applause from the crowd of thousands. During his speech, Obama declared, ‘Literacy is the most basic currency of the knowledge economy we live in today.’”
Third and reposting from the last thread just because:-)
I wanted to share with you a conversation I just had with the folks at Rosa Linda’s Cafe. When I placed the order, I talked with the owner who did not have the best English. He was concerned about taking my cc info and said his son would call me back. I also had made arrangements with the folks at the OFA office to pick up the order at 11:00 MDT. I became concerned as the time for pickup approached as they still did not have my cc info. I started calling and after like 10 tries got through, just in time! The OFA folks were there to pick it up and I had a nice conversation with the son. He said the support they have received is overwhelming. They are busier than ever both with folks from their community and others calling in orders. He began to cry as he described people like us placing orders and folks from as far as away as Ireland and Switzerland phoning in donations. The folks at the CO OFA office were also deeply appreciative. It’s nice to know we can have an impact, even if only in a small way. For anyone else who wants to donate to the CO OFA folks in the coming days, I am reposting the info again.

Stories like these reinforce the faith I have in *most* of our fellow citizens. Most of us are just not cruel, heartless, mean people. The ones who were threatening that family are the minority. Their time has passed.
This and many more examples this past season, confirms my belief that most people are good and that good will win over eveil in the long run. Mittens, the Koch Brothers, Adelson, Grover Norquist, the do-nothing congress, the msm, the tea party (where are they now?), the GOP governors and all the other haters will have their nightmarish dreams crushed on 11/6. The sleeping giant is awake.
Being good alone is not enough. You gotta vote. How is the frigging minority of haters able to get their people into all levels of power ? Because they fucking vote, year after year. That culture unfortunately is not present in the good and decent people.
And not just every four years. We need to vote in every election. We need to do our homework and vote for the judges who are qualified; the members of the city council, the school board. This is how candidates build up resumes that enable them to run for higher office. Every time there is an opportunity to vote, do it. There is no excuse anymore. You can google the candidates names and dig into their background. No showing up every for years. You’d be amazed at some of the characters who run in the local races.
Their menu is online but given it was a Saturday and they were expecting a lot of people in and out of the office I just ordered 25 burritos. I suspect they will disappear quickly:-)
Meta, if you do this just talk with the owner about what to order. I told him I wanted to spend about $50 and he talked to his wife, came back with the suggestion for 25 burritos. I figured this was easy and went with it. I just looked at their online menu and it’s clear he gave a huge price break, probably because it made the order easy. Looks like their menu price for this would be more than double.
So wonderful you did what you did Foxfire and shared the conversation with us. Yesterday, when I first spoke to the owner he could barely speak – the emotion in his voice was really touching. Then, the young lady from OFA called from the restaurant because that was how we agreed to handle the credit card transaction and they were just all rather emotional. All I said was, this is how we take care of each other. Again, thank you for the inspiration!
Okay folks, Just a quick warning here. Because I’m already seeing some people starting to freak out over some recent polling (including Gallup) showing Obama’s lead shrinking. This is a media/GOP effort to diminish the impact of the jobs report, the early voting Obama lead, and the fundraising record.
I don’t buy any of the polling that has been released and neither should anyone with a thinking brain. I think the decision was made to set a narrative, and to push polling that would confirm that narrative. This reminds me of the “gas prices” narrative back in March of this year, when the MSM decided that they needed a Obama-doomed narrative to help Mitt who at the time was struggling to wrap up the GOP nomination. They started pushing gas prices, and the pollsters obliged by subtly shifting their crosstabs and sampling demographics to produce a result that would make it seem as though people were responding negatively to the gas prices.
Folks, as our dear VP Biden would say, we’ve seen this movie before. Let’s not allow ourselves to be manipulated over and over again by the corporate media.
Not sure if it’s the media but we knew they would tighten even before the debate. There was simply no way PBO was going the keep the same lead for the next 31 days. We just need to keep plugging along.
The polls are all over the place. Rasmussen? Well, we knew they’d head back to Romney territory. Gallup? It’s a seven-day rolling poll, so we’ll have to see how the economic news impacts that poll. RAND is holding steady, and Reuters is holding steady as well. The jobs numbers will have their impact over the weekend and starting next week. And then VP Joe debates, and we all know he’ll tear into R&R furiously.
I like to visit Princeton Election Consortium website and they had an article posted about the three Republican leaning polls that came out way too quickly after the debate. I picked up the idea that maybe this was planned ahead of time.
The media (GOP) is using a strategy that I’m very familiar with – that is identify an area where PBO could be possibly perceived as being “weak” and pound that issue to death as being the end-all and be-all of his his re-election bid. Manipulate voters and Obama supporters (and others) to think that this issue is the most important issue of the day and trumps any other thing that could possibly be going on. Interestingly that make or break issue for Obama seems to change from one month to the next, or from one week to the next. So suddenly the debates are SO IMPORTANT..even more important than than the jobs report – when just a week ago, the MSM consensus was that debates mattered very little and the economy was the most important thing for any incumbent.
So, It’s not about the issues – it’s about trying to undermine the President in whatever he does, making it all about and only about him.
MSNBC has had a huge roll in this and that’s why I am not giving these pundiots like Ed Schultz, Rachel, Tweety, etc any more passes.
@JeffersonObama always has tweets on how their skewing the polls. Real Clear Politics is owned by RW Mitt supporter Steve Forbes: they have been dropping good PBO polls early & keeping Romney polls. A lot of P pollsters too.
I’m not sure why you’re having problems getting into the OFA call tool but here is the campaigns contact information. Please give them a call and maybe someone will be able to assist you. http://www.barackobama.com/contact-us/call-write
It’s probably your browser. I can no longer comment on their blog. It tells me to update my browser which has already been updated. That OFA site is kind of funky and not anywhere near as nice and accessible as it was for the 2008 campaign.
Good Luck because we sure could use your help reaching out to potential voters!
Yea I called them and a tech person is supposed to contact me by email. It’s so damn frustrating because this is crunch time. Registration deadlines are all around and it is time when I set out time to make as much calls as possible. And then this happens : (
Cman, If you are unable to go into an OFA office to make calls maybe you can contact your local office by phone and ask if they will email you a call list so that you can do it manually.
A couple days ago I couldn’t get into my fundraising page. I know we got a GREAT haul last month. I just hope everybody who wanted to donate was able to.
I’ve made 25 calls today and I spreaded them around. 5 calls each to PA, WI and Ohio and 10 calls to VA. Mostly I left messages but got 2 strong Obama’s; 1 lean Obama and 1 Undecided. As of 1:30PM today the National Online Call Team has made over 6900 calls to potential voters in the battleground states. Yippee!!!
Now I’m off to go clean the bathrooms and kitchen.
I might be off on this decision, but I don’t leave messages. I don’t think anyone listens to them. I always just click “not home” so the number remains for someone to try again. And I think it takes too much time. I’d rather move along to talk to as many who are at home as possible.
Whatever is best, thanks for calling, donna!
The campaign really leaves it up to the caller as to whether or not you leave a message. I don’t generally worry about the time element because there have been times when I have made 100 calls and only reached 3 or 4 people but got one man who had me on the phone for over 20 minutes.
I like to leave messages because I feel it braces them for that return call from OFA. I imagine half of those people sitting at home listening to their answering machine but refusing to answer because they aren’t familiar with the phone number on their caller ID. I know because I have a tendency to do that sometimes
Either way they will get another call from OFA and it’s just my standard, perky message stating I’m a volunteer from OFA calling to ask for their support for President Obama. I’ve even gotten a few of them to picked up the phone once they knew who I was. Which for me is another good reason to leave a message.
That’s a good point donna about leaving msg just in case. I usually don’t leave messages unless I know it’s the person (E.g., if they say their name on the recording). But it’s up to the phonebacker to make that call, as you say.
Good news!! Despite my ranting and raving at my DNC office, I may be able to see the President on Thursday. Its his last stop in Miami. Wish I could get close enough to give him a hug and thank him for being President.
Chips you are simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone; anyone I’ve ever met. I love this graphic, love. PS…what about the video of President Roosevelt I requested? Please…..
Ha. @WSJ says crowd of 10k in Va. means Romney got debate "jolt"….WSJ ignores the crowd of 30k Obama had in WI on thurs.— Eric Boehlert (@EricBoehlert) October 06, 2012
Those crowd numbers have been shifting as Romney’s positions. On Thursday with Romney on Hanniy, i saw the tape on my DVR taped Politics Nation, lying Ryan said it was 12K waiting for them. It was reported Thursday that the number was 7K by the Romney crowd. Now WSJ is reporting 10K? Wow…..these people are desperate. Funny, with the $181M by the pres for Sept 2012….now the copy cats….Romney are saying that they have raised $12M since Wednesday? LOL.
The Romney campaign initially said it was 5K, not 7K.
I saw a live feed of the rally as it was happening, and I’m telling you that there were no more than 2K at that rally. And I’m being quite liberal here. The fact that the numbers keep shifting and we haven’t seen too many pics (certainly not on any newspaper front page), tells me all I need to know.
And the $12 million they’ve raised since Wednesday (if that is even true) are probably 6 billionaires from Big Oil giving them $2 Million ea.
I recall Myth put $12M into his 2008 primary run…. No problem, we’ll take his crooked money and put it back where in belongs, into the US economy! Ef’fer.
Actually, don’t know why I typed $12M, as I do think it was much more like $50M. I remember thinking how absurd that someone could spend that kind of money just to campaign, and not have to consider mortgages, auto, food, insurance, etc etc etc. Let him waste his money on his fantasies. Just please, God, do not let him anywhere near the White House.
So there we have it folks. A lying campaign, with lying surrogates, encouraged by a corrupt MSM, eagerly impressed by lying. And these are the same ‘outragers’ who were soooooo incensed about Bush lying America into the Iraq war!!!!!!
Great article Tally…also great stance by Nancy Heilzig on the people’s view.

Although we are well past debate critique now, I enjoyed reading this excerpt from an article. Laurence H. Tribe, a leading constitutional-law scholar and Obama’s mentor at Harvard, told me after Wednesday night’s debate with Mitt Romney, “Although I would have been happier with a more aggressive debate performance by the President, I’ve had to remind myself that Barack Obama’s instincts and talents have never included going for an opponent’s jugular. That’s just not who he is or ever has been.”
“When Barack Obama was a student at Harvard Law School, he was never known as a particularly good debater. In class, if he thought that a fellow student had said something foolish, he showed no forensic bloodlust. He did not go out of his way to defeat someone in argument; instead he tried, always with a certain decorous courtesy, to try to persuade, to reframe his interlocutor’s view, to signal his understanding while disagreeing. Obama became president of the law review—the first African-American to do so—but he won as a voice of conciliation. He avoided the Ames Moot Court Competition, where near contemporaries like Cass Sunstein, Deval Patrick, and Kathleen Sullivan made their names.”
i don’t agree with that statement about “going for the jugular.” president obama destroys his opponents often, it’s just they don’t realize he’s got them by the jugular until it’s too late, and he’s got a smile on his face the whole time and polite about it. makes it even that more brutal for his opponents. i think tribe and so many others are confusing theatrics and results. results sometimes aren’t as sexy, but much more effective.
Yeah, baby. Ask Paul Ryan if he knew it was coming, when President Obama invited him to sit in a front-row seat when he planned to take him down. Masterful.
Hi Chips, everyone, have decided to proceed trying to support our President and Dems via whatever I can accomplish on Twitter while awaiting them to decide on my appeal to reinstate my original account. Please don’t bother yourself with having to follow. I’ll keep you posted as to what I’m tweeting …
So, Josh Marshall is quoting Rasmussen, Gallup and Reuters to determine that their has been a Real Shift in this Race?
Anxious, to jump on anything…
LOL!
You inserted yourself on the last page with a snide crude remark and here you are again, Ed doing the same thing. Why are you praying that pres Obama win a second time? Did he ask for your prayers? And what has Jesus got to do with it? Stop your fatuousness. It is very transparent.
So what have YOU Ed been doing to get pres Obama re-elected? Just your prayers? Have you canvassed, phone banked, donated funds, volunteered or put out lawn yards?
Why would you agree with a nasty ridiculous statement. I can pray for President Obama and so can other people and don’t assume I had not volunteered or donated.
See my comment below. Obama doesn’t need “prayers.” He needs us to stop helping the Republicans and their friends in the media by contributing to the image of him as weak and defenseless (which he isn’t).
He needs prays and he needs to call out the repubs. They aren’t interested in compromise they want to destroy President Obama period. I don’t think President Obama is weak that’s why I know he is capable of calling Romney out.
The media spins every and anything related to Obama as negative. Had he called out Romney’s lies, the media would start off “A defensive president calls Romney a liar..” narrative.
Just because I stated my opinion as you are does not mean it was snide. However, I do think your remark is hateful. Yes I have donated funds and volunteered and put out yard signs and I still say sometimes you need to call out a lair and yes I am praying for the President. I think people should pray for President Obama what is wrong with that?
You falsely implied that he didn’t call out Romney as a liar – that’s not true he has called out Romney many many times, including during the the debates. But he was not about to take up a whole 90 minutes in a tit-for-tat with Mitt Romney which Romney and media would have spun as “Obama dragging himself down in the mud to the level of a liar like Romney.”
It was falsely implied that I didn’t donate or volunteer time. Calling Romney out for his lies and doing it there and then and not 13 hours later would have been outstanding. That is not getting in the mud. That is calling out the truth.
The President called out Romney DURING the debate – I guess you were too busy looking for blood-thirsty President to notice. However, he wanted to give Romney enough time and space to hang himself as well.
There’s a saying:
“Never interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake”
And I’m sure PBO may have been tempted to say to Romney “@#$%^&*(!) LIAR!!”
We would be reaping the consequences on Nov 6…and it would not be good news for us.
President Obama is not a blood thirsty person. Stating facts is not being blood thirsty, As I stated I looked at the debate twice so you can not say what I noticed.
Yes sometimes I would like to punch Romney in the face. I can’ deny that but President Obama has to confront these repubs head on. Because they will lie and cheat and do anything to win as we are witnessing.
Obama has confronted these Republicans head on without dragging himself down to their level. He’s beating them at their own damn game of wanting him to be a one-term president. He’s left them spinning away and spiraling, reeling from Obama Derangement Syndrome. Day after day he forces the media to change it’s narrative about what’s most important. The media swings wildly from any and every issue – from gas prices, to foreign policy, to unemployment in desperate search of a narrative that will help Romney. The media is flip-flopping as much as Romney and together they’re a HOT MESS rooting against this country.
If you join the media and contribute to their worthless narratives – you are part of the problem.
Ed, have you even considered that there are 2 more debates to go? And maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t show your hand in one go. My 84 year old Dad shocked me this morning by telling the neighbour ,” oh yes, the other fellow was carrying on at a rate, blustering and talking fast, but it was from Obama who you could learn about his policies etc.
ED.
Of course people should pray for Pres Obama. As a christian himself, he welcomes it. But you also got to understand that in the first debate it was his strategy to do what he did. I tell people all the time. If you don’t know Pres Obama by now, you’ll never know him.
It’s like people are tossed to and from by every wind of doctrine. We need to start thinking more analytically and stop reacting.
Some writer, I think his name was Williamson (but not certain) wanted to learn what, according to the Christian New Testament gospels, Jesus really criticized. He wasn’t a Christian himself but found others were often quoting Jesus when he discussed ethical and moral issue. So he got the book and started making his list. He would count like so many of us do – with a straight mark for one, another for two, etc., with a slash through four lines for the fiftth of any example he found. Well, he made it through the gospels and had his completed list. And quickly noted their was one criticism that was over the pages and onto following pages. It was self-righteousness — with the hypocrisy that often accompanies it. This seems to be such a common characteristic of many that proclaim themselves to be Christian today in the U.S.
Perfect, pickle48. Those who most use the Bible for their narrow purposes, have seldom read it. Jesus had no patience for egotists or those who assign themselves the “godlike” authority to “judge others.”
I just had to talk a lean Obama voter out of the notion that President Obama is coming to get his hunting rifle. Who is feeding people this nonsense? Talk radio? After I thought I succeeded in knocking that down, he was then worried about something Hillary did at the U.N. where she was going to start confiscating all guns. Yikes! and Whew! People need to be called and educated.
NRA sends them fliers. Also, the KOCH brothers and other rightie affiliations send crude, cruel and wicked lies to many on a daily bases. I live in a rightie county and I get crap like that every once in a while.
Wonder if these “hunters” know that PBO has EXAPNDED gun owners rights to federal lands…like national parks? Stupid asses. This is what happens when stupid rules the day.
An outside group needs to go after the NRA for scamming their members. Big time.
I recently read a comment that the NRA endorsed Romney who once banned assault weapons but hates Pres.Obama who has given these folks more gun rights. Its a total scam. All for money. Scare their members and the public. The public runs out and purchases guns. Cha cing.
Bob, so sorry, I wasn’t computing for the last bit, just saw your Twitter message – you’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack, woot!!!! It’s turning in to a very perfect day!
We will see if they reinstate the original account … until then, I’ll do as much to support our PBO and Dems as possible
An unhinged, sweaty, lying, #GishGalloping, draft dodging, outsourcing pioneer (aka #MittRomney) on 3 Oct vindicated his wife's concerns.— Bobfr47 (@Our4thEstate_47) October 06, 2012
I hope they restore my other account and still have no idea why they suspended it. The only reason it mattes is that I had 3800+ followers and that matters when you are trying to get messages out to as many folk as possible about all the lies and deceit coming from #BainMitt, #LyinRyan and the fact that corporate media is completely a fail.
But, whatever it takes, from now until the ballots are counted on 6 Nov, I’ll keep at it …
Some numbskull posted a sign down the road that said “Bend over and vote!” I have a good mind to take my old Obama/Biden yard
sign and stick it front of it. I can’t stand people, who like to sit on the fence, and throw rocks. If you don’t like the political process in this country get off your ass, get involved and do something about it.
My son and I have gone on our “civil disobedience” night raids on occasion and pulled those stupid signs out by their ignorant roots. The rest of us thinking folks shouldn’t have to see that everyday
On July 10, 2007, Carmona, along with former Surgeons General C. Everett Koop and David Satcher, testified before the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform about political and ideological interference with the Surgeon General’s mission. Carmona accused the Bush Administration of preventing him from speaking out on certain public health issues such as embryonic stem cell research, global climate change,[17] emergency contraception, and abstinence-only sex education, where the Administration’s political stance conflicted with scientific and medical opinion.[18]
Carmona also testified that the Bush Administration had attempted for years to “water down” his report on the dangers of secondhand smoke and pressured him not to testify in the tobacco industry’s racketeering trial: “Anything that doesn’t fit into the political appointees’ ideological, theological or political agenda is ignored, marginalized or simply buried.”[19][20] According to Carmona, he was even ordered not to attend the Special Olympics because the event was sponsored by the Kennedy family, and was told to mention President Bush three times on every page of his speeches.[13] The Washington Post subsequently identified William R. Steiger as the Bush Administration official who had blocked release of Carmona’s report on global health because it conflicted with the Administration’s political priorities.[21]
Reuters reported that Carmona’s predecessors as Surgeon General had acknowledged the high level of political interference he experienced, saying: “We have never seen it as partisan, as malicious, as vindictive, as mean-spirited as it is today, and you clearly have worse than anyone’s had.”[19]
How about that:) Dr. Carmona is a once in a lifetime candidate. Accomplished by anyone’s standards, and will be an awesome Senator should he get elected…..he’s ahead by a couple points on 12 yr congressman Jeff Flake (Teabagger-AZ) He really needs some donations if you can spare any….the fact that the Big Dog is coming here….HUGE!! THAT’S how important and close this race is!
I am glad to know that Bill Clinton is coming to campaign for Dr. Carmona. I really think Dr. Carmona can win this. I just sent him a little contribution.
Carmona is up 3 points over Flake and their hopes of raising $40,000 went up to over $161,000. We have a real shot of getting a Senator. This guy is very well spoken, with cool demeanor.
I would love to go but would probably have to camp out overnight on the 9th to get a ticket and stay all that day on the 10th to get in. I am on a huge project at work and have to be at work on the 10th, 11th, and 12th. How about you? Do you know how the tickets are being given out? The stadium holds a lot of people.
So I went on and registered for a ticket and donated and the message said that I would be notified where I could pick up my ticket so maybe I will get to go after all. I wish it was President Obama instead of Bill Clinton but that’s okay.
I don’t believe it was. The most offensive part was Bill bringing up the money as if he had executive power over what Pres.Obama did or said during the campaign. And that money didn’t go directly to Pres.Obama. It was given to a pro-Obama super pac.
Help Tweeters! The latest Repub trick in OH posted on DKOS is that the Obama/Biden selection is listed as SEVENTH, that’s right, as SEVENTH on the OH absentee ballots sent out. You can lift a photo of it here:
Un-f…believable. I suspect by the time we get to Nov 6 I will not be able to stand to talk to anyone who is a Re;pub which is a problem given I live in TX. This is just so wrong………
Weird, I had it up and saved a copy of the photo which I just emailed to Chips. I am now getting the same error message. There were several photos of the ballot posted in the diary link which is no longer working. For the other candidates, the R was listed first then the D candidate but for the presidential selection PBO was listed seventh. HOpefully Chips will post it.
Question: How does the state of OH determine ballot order? In CA it is determined by a drawing. There are six candidates listed for President. Romney is first and President Obama is fourth. The luck of the draw. I don’t think anyone will be confused out here.
FoxfireTX
May be you did not see my response up above. Since you described what it was. It was true because I am here in Ohio and I scanned a copy of the ballot.
The diary must have been deleted by the original poster, but luckily I had commented in the diary before it got deleted and was able to track my comment and responses to it which provided some useful info about Ohio ballots. Apparently, OH rotates the order of the candidates names on the ballots so different people see different orders:
Ohio rotates names (5+ / 0-)
From election code:
“The names of all candidates for an office shall be arranged in a group under the title of that office, and, except for absentee ballots or when the number of candidates for a particular office is the same as the number of candidates to be elected for that office, shall be rotated from one precinct to another. On absentee ballots, the names of all candidates for an office shall be arranged in a group under the title of that office and shall be so alternated that each name shall appear, insofar as may be reasonably possible, substantially an equal number of times at the beginning, at the end, and in each intermediate place, if any, of the group in which such name belongs, unless the number of candidates for a particular office is the same as the number of candidates to be elected for that office.” //
Thanks for the info, it is crazy! PBO was listed on this particular ballot AFTER parties with no affiliation while Romney was sitting there at the top. Oh well, hopefully this means the reverse is also true.
Thank you, Bob. I’m so glad to see you back on the job–all is now right with the world. You are so right, too. At our county J&J dinner, all anyone could talk about was the attack on BigBird.
It appears that the campaign pointing out Romney’s debate lies is bearing fruit. In the video of Welch on Hardball he mumbled something about it dominating the 44 hours since. So they are noticing. Too bad Matthews was too focused on job numbers to pick up on it. Could have been interesting.
Calling Iowa, happened to get a string of people in my old home town—–I got a lot of mileage with hesitant talkers by asking if Birdsells, the best ice cream place in the world, is still there. It is. I said I really missed those hot fudge sundaes—–just the best with homemade ice cream, homemade hot fudge and huge pecans on top——and the last lady said I made her hungry and she would go eat one for me tonight——I said I was seriously jealous—–and she added that she and husband would be definitely voting for Obama. Success!

Wow, how did I get to a new post?
Now, I have to get out and come back in. Lord have mercy.
Second?
Did we have a debate this week? I can’t recall from all this outstanding jobs news.
VP Joe Slamin’ Biden v. eddie-paul Munster….
LOL. I meant this past week which had fairweather friends rending garments. Sorry for not being clearer. It’s already been a long day, and we just opened the library.

Knowledge economy? Don’t tell the Republicans!

“four” not “for”
Totally choked up. Does OFA have the menu and tell you how many and what to order?
Their menu is online but given it was a Saturday and they were expecting a lot of people in and out of the office I just ordered 25 burritos. I suspect they will disappear quickly:-)
OK, cool. Maybe I’ll wait for the late afternoon snack time.
#PRESSON
Awesome, thanks. I have a good friend in Denver who said she wants to handle it for me!
Without the help of the Repubs in Congress!
Yup. I just posted about this at bj.
MSNBC has had a huge roll in this and that’s why I am not giving these pundiots like Ed Schultz, Rachel, Tweety, etc any more passes.
what website is that?
@JeffersonObama always has tweets on how their skewing the polls. Real Clear Politics is owned by RW Mitt supporter Steve Forbes: they have been dropping good PBO polls early & keeping Romney polls. A lot of P pollsters too.
Jeff is the best!
For some reason I do not know. Our gas prices went from $4.15 to $4.29, for regular, overnight. Pizzing me off….
Could be rising tensions in the Middle East btw Turkey and Syria.
No, California’s having refineries problems.
Thanks for the info Desraye.
cman,
I’m not sure why you’re having problems getting into the OFA call tool but here is the campaigns contact information.
And then this happens : (
Cman, If you are unable to go into an OFA office to make calls maybe you can contact your local office by phone and ask if they will email you a call list so that you can do it manually.
yea, good idea, i’ll try that.
OMG, how frustrating! Do you have the contact for you regional director or NTL? They might be able to help with an alternate way to phonebank.
You know GF they took a site that wasn’t broke and decided to “fix it”. I’ll simply never understand.
Geeze, the odd mysteries of life. Whatever.
Have a great Productive O’Day Everyone!
Thanks donna – onward and upward!
Chips thanks for breaking this depressing news for rethugs; BTW I spotted you picking up cases of champagne. Are these two events linked????
What ? Chips is a having a party without informing us ?
wimmin/smh.
Deficit is down as well. Amazing.
Good news!! Despite my ranting and raving at my DNC office, I may be able to see the President on Thursday. Its his last stop in Miami. Wish I could get close enough to give him a hug and thank him for being President.
No MSM narrative or silly polls will take that away. That’s the only thing that matters – our vote.
Tally, your article was/ is a must read for every wobbly-kneed PBO supporter in the nation. Thank you so much.
Chips you are simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone; anyone I’ve ever met. I love this graphic, love. PS…what about the video of President Roosevelt I requested? Please…..
Eric….there were 6k more in the overflow area….
Ef’fer.
It was $24M, at least, in 2008.
They lie so effortlessly and such habitual liars are really psychopaths.
Gunnite folks. I’ll have some happy dreams tonight.
Good Nite Amk. See ya in the Morning (Night)!
Sleeping again?!
Ha! More Depressing News for the Republicans
Scrolled past the comments because I am so SLOW this a.m. reading everything and wanted to say on both past threads, thank you to Tally. Thank you so much for the wonderful writeup about the debate. Now back up I go to read comments!

Dare I say I believe it is GOD who smiles on President Barack Hussein Obama, because he loves us back!
this is the last segment of LOD last nite with jonathan gruber, who worked with the mass health program. I found it very interesting..
Watching The Last Word video: Romney’s big health care lie – http://video.msnbc.msn.com/the-last-word/49309012 via @msnbc
Masterful.
http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2012/10/thats-just-not-who-he-is-or-ever-has.html Great piece from Smartypants on this
Yes, just ask Osama Bin Laden about the blood and the jugular issue…
Yes, and, less violently, ask the other ’08 contenders and John McCain about the jugular issue.
just realized i have a quibble with the “why obama now” video that all of us should be passing on to everyone everywhere.
it should be titled “why obama FOREVER.” haha! (oh, and “president” should be in there too!)
Now now, lets not be selfish. We have to give him back to his family in a few years.
We can follow him though
God, I wish. This country would be like paradise!

Yes We Can
Yay, you’re back on twitter.
RT’d. Also like the way she identifies herself as “union member” on her profile!
So, Josh Marshall is quoting Rasmussen, Gallup and Reuters to determine that their has been a Real Shift in this Race?
Anxious, to jump on anything…
LOL!
Like I said, this is like the made-up gas prices narrative and accompanying “shift” in polls back in March of this year. Same scenario.
Josh Marshall is always working on his resume’ to be a player with the “beltway boyz”.
It’s all clickbait. And now he’s trying to raise money by having people “subscribe” to a “premium” level of access or some BS.
Americans aren’t that dam stupid. I smell some cooking of the polls going on.
I voted for President Obama. I praying he wins a second term but sometimes you need to call out a liar. Even Jesus went off on people sometimes.
Stay tuned, hang in there, Ed.
I agree with you Nena.
That’s what you ought to be doing, not praying.
You wanted blood, not facts. Obama gave facts. Romney didn’t. And you are pissed because you didn’t get the blood from Obama that you wanted.
On this site you constantly call out repub lies. It has to be done. By this site and President Obama
And he’s doing a good job of it. That’s why he has so much ENTHUSIASTIC support. One 90-minute scripted debate isn’t going to change any of that.
My 84 year old Dad shocked me this morning by telling the neighbour ,” oh yes, the other fellow was carrying on at a rate, blustering and talking fast, but it was from Obama who you could learn about his policies etc.
wish I could thumb up your comment. My sentiments exactly!
I hope you are right.
Trust me.
Trusr Me.
Trusr Me
oops sorry about the triplicate post.
Maybe I needed it.
LOL.
And, as you noted Ed, there is power in naming a thing or phenomenon what it is.
Perfect, pickle48. Those who most use the Bible for their narrow purposes, have seldom read it. Jesus had no patience for egotists or those who assign themselves the “godlike” authority to “judge others.”
Ed Schultz is that you?
Hahaha! i know I thought that as well and you know, he is on my list big time!
Nra
NRA sends them fliers. Also, the KOCH brothers and other rightie affiliations send crude, cruel and wicked lies to many on a daily bases. I live in a rightie county and I get crap like that every once in a while.
That would be Paul Ryan….http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/paul-ryan-tells-hunters-thought-of-second-obama-term-makes-him-shudder/
Among many other RWNJ’s
Wonder if these “hunters” know that PBO has EXAPNDED gun owners rights to federal lands…like national parks? Stupid asses. This is what happens when stupid rules the day.
An outside group needs to go after the NRA for scamming their members. Big time.
I recently read a comment that the NRA endorsed Romney who once banned assault weapons but hates Pres.Obama who has given these folks more gun rights. Its a total scam. All for money. Scare their members and the public. The public runs out and purchases guns. Cha cing.
yup…because it’s what they WANT to believe…

Bob, so sorry, I wasn’t computing for the last bit, just saw your Twitter message – you’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack, woot!!!!
It’s turning in to a very perfect day!
You’re very sweet, Chips! Thank you …
We will see if they reinstate the original account … until then, I’ll do as much to support our PBO and Dems as possible
Let’s follow Bob again. . .
I missed all his tweets!
Glad you are back, Bob!
You are so back in good form again, Bob. This is what every Democrat should have been saying Thursday morning.
Thank you Marlz & Jackie!

Not voting is bending over.
Frank Luntz, who organized the 1-20-2009 strategy dinner meeting, was on Bill Maher and says that PBO will win re-election…
hmmmm
NICE!! Hey Arizona…look who’s coming to ASU to stump for Carmona
THIS pick up would make my day!
http://www.carmonaforarizona.com/early-vote
Wow… I just read his wiki page .. The Bush criticism section is scary
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Carmona
Going to Tempe, Jackie???
I would love to go but would probably have to camp out overnight on the 9th to get a ticket and stay all that day on the 10th to get in. I am on a huge project at work and have to be at work on the 10th, 11th, and 12th. How about you? Do you know how the tickets are being given out? The stadium holds a lot of people.
So I went on and registered for a ticket and donated and the message said that I would be notified where I could pick up my ticket so maybe I will get to go after all. I wish it was President Obama instead of Bill Clinton but that’s okay.
OMG! Wouldn’t that just be CAKE?
With buttercream icing and sprinkles on top.
Our Man Bobfr is Back……….Yahooooooo. Well whatever a Donkey would yell……I am tickled pink.
Yep, you can’t help but scratch your head and think “what’s this joker up to now?” hmmmmmm
I blasted Bill Maher on Twitter asking him if his PBO joke about smoking weed was his way of calling the prez the N word.
You can lift a photo of it here:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/06/1141064/-Pics-of-my-Ohio-absentee-ballot-anyone-else-see-something-very-wrong-here
Un-f…believable. I suspect by the time we get to Nov 6 I will not be able to stand to talk to anyone who is a Re;pub which is a problem given I live in TX. This is just so wrong………
Wow … I keep getting an error message . even when I copy it to the address bar.
FoxfireTX are you sure you got the right link? I am getting an error,
Weird, I had it up and saved a copy of the photo which I just emailed to Chips. I am now getting the same error message. There were several photos of the ballot posted in the diary link which is no longer working. For the other candidates, the R was listed first then the D candidate but for the presidential selection PBO was listed seventh. HOpefully Chips will post it.
Yes that is true. My ballot was like that too.
I am in Ohio and I was outrage. As a matter of fact i scanned my copy for proof in pdf form
Question: How does the state of OH determine ballot order? In CA it is determined by a drawing. There are six candidates listed for President. Romney is first and President Obama is fourth. The luck of the draw. I don’t think anyone will be confused out here.
If I am not mistaken, They use to put the incumbent first.
can you post a copy of the picture ?
I think only Chips can post photos but I emailed it.
Why does it say you need permission to view this diary? It could be a scam posting on Daily Kos(A Troll) perhaps?
The diary has disappeared so perhaps it was a scam although if so it sure was a good job with photoshop. Looked legit.
FoxfireTX
May be you did not see my response up above. Since you described what it was. It was true because I am here in Ohio and I scanned a copy of the ballot.
Hey Foxfire!

I had an absentee ballot and saw Pres Obama at the bottom.

Thank you, Bob. I’m so glad to see you back on the job–all is now right with the world. You are so right, too. At our county J&J dinner, all anyone could talk about was the attack on BigBird.
Thank you, Bob, for spreading this word!!!
VOTE!!
Awesome, meta!!! Spread this around TOD!
It’s pretty cool!
OOh this is awesome meta!! Thanks for posting
Really cool, it will get through to the young voters. I hope
Success!
Have not seen this before, but it is very substantial – perhaps the best rap I’ve ever heard …
Sorry, meta, Chips …. I didn’t see it was posted already!!
Feel free to delete, Chips ….
That’s okay Bob. This is a great video – the more the merrier!!
