I’m so mad at the Obama campaign, I’m coming unglued. I got an email telling me I have donated 0 to their campaign. But I have donated $271 to them. Guess that’s nothing to them. I’ve also been making phone calls weekly through OFA.WY to Colorado. I’m so mad I’m not going to do any more until they apologize.
Perhaps (obviously) there has been a error made on their part…find out what happened (if you haven’t already) before you get “so mad”.

It could be the email address you’re set up under. I’ve had the dccc send letters, saying I have not made in donations for the year,but I have. I realize I get emails at work, but usually contribute under my “main” personal email. Anyway…I ain’t mad at em. One day I’ll even correct it. Keep up the awesome job of volunteering and donating. I remember in 2008 I contributed a whole $5.00 and a few of hours of my time. Boy! I was fully invested with the president winning, and achieving his agenda. I know our work will not be done come post Nov 7th! After we elect PBO and give Nancy the gavel, keep the senate, there will be much work to be done. I know many of us look to rest after the president serves this second term, but there will still be work to be done. The thing is, if they have the poster registered as given 0, they would not have a reason to send the poster any email, except to ask for a donation. They don’t send e-mails just to tell someone they have donated 0..
Yes they were asking for a donation, but why give money when it’s not recorded in my name? It’s not like I have any extra laying around. I make phone calls every week to Colorado from OFA.WY. Been doing it since July. How many do that for some one they don’t care about re-electing?
I received a similar email, but it was from DCCC, it’s easy to mix up the emails. Check it again, it’s might not be from the campaign, it may be from the DCCC or other organization. Also, it could be because of different email addresses. Know matter what the reason for your receiving this email, please know that the campaign appreciates all that you do, but sometimes errors may occur.

Our number one goal is to re-elect President Obama. They can call me whatever they want as long as we get President Obama re-elected. I am sorry to sound insensitive, but what you are saying doesn’t sound plausible to me. I’ve been donating to the Obama campaign and I’ve never gotten an e-mail telling me how much I donated in total. By my account, My total donation so far is $510, but that’s spread out in the amounts of individual donations that range from $10-$50.The only e-mails I get are those thanking me after I make a donation and the amount I donated in each particular instance. For example, following the debate, I donated $30 to the campaign through 3 of TOD fund raisers, for $10 each. I got three e-mails from OFA thanking me for the donation and urging me to become a fund raiser. But I’ve never received an e-mail telling me the total donation I made to the campaign. That’s why I am puzzled why the campaign would send you an e-mail saying that you donated 0. Unless, of course, your recent donation ended with a 0. For example you may have donated $50 and the e-mail made a typing error by leaving out 5 and reporting 0. In any case, before being mad and going public with this did you make an effort to contact OFA -may be even your “OFA.WY” to find out if this was a mistake?
Well I did from Anne Marie. It gave my account number, total amount donated . But oh who cares? It’s nothing to be mad about. Why care?
Just to add my tuppence: I also receive emails from OFA, even from FLOTUS and POTUS, and Joe, specifying how much my total donations have been, and asking if I can go ALL IN, to make it to the max. For a while, close to the end of the primaries, I had several of these, which I knew for sure were way off, and actually way low! But every other day or so, a new one would come with an adjusted amount and asking me to donate the balance to the max. I could only reach the max in the primary, won’t be able to for the general. I do believe, however, that purchases from the Store do not seem to count into the total: I spend a LOT of money in the store, and give away most of the stuff I buy as a way of raising enthusiasm for the campaign. Believe me, IT REALLY WORKS! “Those People (VOTERS) just l.o.v.e to get free stuff!

You’re being very unfair. I watched that segment with Capehart on Bashir Live and he told Democrats who are freaking out to chill the fuck out. He said that Pres. Obama has been leading for months in a very close race and just because he had a bad night does not mean Democrats should abandon ship. He also called out Ann Romney for her comments about Pres. Obama and for basically failing in being Romney’s secret weapon. Capehart did not slam Democrats. He basically channeled what Pres. Obama said on the Tom Joyner Morning Show by telling Democrats to stop their chicken littling and grow a backbone.
I’ve been observing your personal rants about Capehart and I have to say you give a very one sided commentary about his appearances on multiple shows. You don’t tell the full story or relay his full comments in complete context. You cherry pick his words to make him come off worse than he is. Yes he isn’t 100% perfect and sometimes his analysis can be frustrating but you have done him a grave disservice in the way you malign all his media appearances.
I watched him today and what you said about his appearance is 100% wrong and grossly unfair.

So just curious but how does Gallup figure out the unemployment rate? And why is it much lower than 7.8– posted on Friday?

– they often reported an unemployment figure higher than the official one, which the media always gleefully reported. Whether this one is accurate or not, it just makes me smile that it’s getting so little media attention.

Nope, not usually higher, just seems to precede the BLS. I was not surprised at the 7.8% UE number because it had been below 8% on Gallup for 10 days before the release of the BLS numbers. BUT Gallup uses a very small sample size compared to BLS so there is much more fluctuation in their numbers. I check it every day to just to track trends rather than the actual number.

They include it in their survey in some way. It is far less scientific than the official surveys but they were spot-on last month.
Last Friday, their UE index was at 7.6%. Now after their further analysis it is at 7.3%? I wonder if this new number is with 386K jobs that are currently missing in the Sept UE numbers? BLS will adjust that in Jan 2013.

David Siegel, founder and CEO of Westgate Resorts, sent an email to his employees warning them of layoffs if President Barack Obama is re-elected this upcoming November.
Siegel sent the email to over 6,000 employees, he wrote, “The economy doesn’t currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same presidential administration.”
The billionaire, who says he is responsible for the election of President Bush is standing by the email, saying he’s not a bully.
Rumors circulated that the letter was fake but various news outlets confirmed with Siegel that it was real; although parts of the email are copied from a chain-letter that has frequented email circulations for many years.

Truly! It was like that in the theatre where my sis and I watched the President’s speech at the DNC. One giant lovefest!

Oh no, we didn’t see him in person. We watched him on a screen too, it just happened to be in a theatre in downtown Charlotte.
We had stadium tickets for that day, but, remember, the whole day’s activites were moved out of the stadium into the MUCH smaller convention center due to threatened thunderstorms. Only delegates and VIPs got to see the speeches in person that Friday. We watched it in one of the many venues that the OFA set up all across town to accomodate those us who had stadium nosebleed seats. We still partied hard — like he WAS in the room with us. It was a blast!

Driving around today I see that the Catholic churches have handed out “Vote Pro Life” yard signs to all their members. They’re everywhere. Grrrrrrr. I’m debating with myself about saying something to my neighbors who are sporting the signs. I want to so bad. But I know it would be pointless and probably end badly. There’s so much ignorance in this ——voting against every safety net we have in this country, voting against ——-life. And—–tax exempt, huh?
I would ask them exactly what Pro Life vote they’re advocating? Romney just said yesterday that he has no plans to pursue anti-abortion legislation if elected.

FOUNTAIN — First Lady Michelle Obama Colorado has taken the stage in praise of President Barack Obama’s character before 1,000 swing-state voters at Fountain Middle School.
The first lady began her stump speech by praising her husband’s character, saying that was the quality that “truly made (her) fall in love” with President Barack Obama and his “tenderness for women.”
Michelle Obama is on a two-day campaign swing through the state. A blocks-long line formed before gates opened at 9 a.m. for a free public rally at Fountain Middle School’s gymnasium, where people were crammed into the small Dean Fleischauer Activity Center, which later this month will host a kids kickboxing tournament.
Obama is expected to also promote early voting. It begins Oct. 22 in Colorado. Mail ballots go out Oct. 15.
Fountain, a town of about 26,000 about 10 miles south of Colorado Springs in El Paso County, lies near Interstate 25, Fountain Creek and Fort Carson Army Base.

If you watch politics on TV and come to TOD to write a commentary about a particular pundit’s appearance and commentary then for crying out loud, be honest. You are entitled to your opinion but DON’T cherry pick their words. DON’T misrepresent them just because you may not like them or whatever. Give the full context of their commentary and STOP riling people up on TOD. It is unfair and beyond the pale.

We know that these pundits do their stuff for money and they don’t get it right 100% of the time but it is unfair to not give the full picture of their comments and instead come on TOD with some hair on fire BS that riles everyone up. It’s annoying, frustrating and serves no purpose.
Agree wholeheartedly UT. I have given up watching poli shows since before last week, so I do sadly rely on what I read online or what someone links to for any idea of what was said.
When people give their opinion as fact it really pisses me off. Because all it does is start an avalache and then you find out later that no that’s NOT what was said. Needless drama that could be used to combat the lies.

They know it’s effective that’s why. The Big Bird moment in the debate has seeped into the mainstream and doesn’t play well for Romney when what voters seem to remember is he wants to gut Big Bird and let Wall Street run amok.

Mitt Romney brought it up … I think we and he can talk about it if he wishes. The ad … maybe we will have to drop because we have been asked nicely by PBS (or Sesame Street) but to cut it out of the speeches … no, he is just responding to a comment (and a policy by the way) that Romney instigated! That is my opinion.
Just like they told PBO to drop the Bain comments. The president knows best.

The President must be shaking his head that nearly four years of accomplishment can be wiped out in the minds of many Americans by one “bad” night. He must also wonder just how many lies the American public is prepared to swallow from Mitt Romney. Seven solid days of kvetching.
Booman has a write up of the story of Mitt Romney and the slain ex-Seal who died in the Benghazi attack, that Mitt had been talking about on the stump. Egads, Mitt Romney is a dick. It reads like it just can’t be real, and yet, it truly is. It incorporates the beginning of the story as Romney claimed it and puts together what the friend of the ex-Seal says and you basically come away with it realizing that basically Ann and Mitt crashed some family’s Christmas party and I guess never realized that they were party crashers. It is both the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever heard and yet it’s obviously so painfully believable that you just cringe.
