I hoping to be first on the thread titled: Never Catching Up…. Then I’ll know I’m Home! I didn’t see my name up here with the other winners of the final Dinner with Barack. I sure was looking to introducing Chips to him as my guest! Sorry Chipsticks. The sun is setting.

Yessssss….. wow. For the presidential debate they talked of 60 million people. The VP debate reached 5/6 of that ? Those are wonderful numbers. I’m sure Joe’s performance will have some good effects on the polls.

        October 12, 2012 at 8:55 pm

The first presidential debate was 68 mil. The number for the VP debate is down from 4 years ago but that was the Palin factor. This was pretty good, and even better 50% of viewers were age 55+. Hopefully they took Joe’s appeal to heart.

You’d think this was the President speaking in Ohio just this week. Nope, this is one of his “Closing Argument” Speeches during the last week of the 2008 campaign (Canton, Ohio – Oct 27 2008). Republicans are still running the same game plan. Watch the last 5 minutes. This is why we elected him. This is why we should keep him in the Big Chair.

Wow – this man is the most consistent person I’ve ever been exposed to. This is a sign of someone who has thought about what he stands for, and embedded those values in his soul. It infuriates me that people ignore the fact that he’s kept his promises, where he’s been able to work around the obstruction, and that he’s got a successful four year record of achievement. They want to judge him on the last four weeks of the campaign, rather than judging the entirety of his presidency – man vs man; vision vs vision.

He’s so consistent. He says what he means, and he does what he says he’ll do. That’s why people trust him. And you’re absolutely right – the entire speech is fantastic and worth listening to all over again – but the last five minutes are so relevant to today. He needs another term. He absolutely needs another term. WE need another term.

Reminded again tonight by the horrible and disgusting situation at the Sensata plant in Freeport, Illinois, where Bain is closing the plant and moving it to China and forcing the soon to be unemployed employees train their Chinese counterparts. And this news—-that they have taken down the American flag there and hoisted the Chinese flag!—–should be blasted across the country. Why hasn’t our news media paid any attention to this story? The employees there are putting up a huge protest, but it’s going to end badly—-like when Bain made those workers build the stage for Bain biggies to appear and announce their plant closing and loss of jobs.

I find this photo quite touching. It suggests to my mind they are ‘holding up’ or ‘grounding’ each other and it also greatly brings to mind the fact that they are a team. This is the first US admin in which I have noticed such genuine, caring teamwork – Pres & VP; Pres & SOS, as well as between and among other staff when they cross the camera’s eye.

Bringing over from previous thread (last comment).

HOPEFRUIT2: See Chips response. She says the hate-filled troll accounts were set up the night before.
BOBFR: It’s obvious these (paid?) trolls want to discourage tweeters who are truly sending out honest information.

Here’s the post, with Chips’ comment:

Just want to say “Thank you” to those brave tweeters who endure some of the most hate-filled responses I’ve seen. These (paid?) trolls seem to have really amped it up recently. I hate seeing these replies when I click on a tweet, and I’m sure the senders hate receiving them. Condolences to all.

Here’s some cheery tweets for y’all:

“After several days of big, loud rallies in OH and NC, today’s VA event seemed a bit flat. Romney tired perhaps and crowd less rowdy”

“This new Obama ad signals a tougher message on Romney and the economy from here on out”

“US government ran budget surplus of $75 billion in September, Treasury Department reports”

The economy is undeniably improving. Here’s an article about home prices from today’s local newspaper (front page banner news):

Arapaho415, it’s funny you should mention the hate-filled trolls – I tweeted earlier about this, I got a whole pile of tweets attacking VP Biden and defending Ryan, along with the usual RWNJ bile. Almost all of the accounts were brand new, presumably set up since last night. Methinks there’s a rather desperate Romney/Ryan effort going on to create a more ‘supportive’ presence on Twitter, especially to try to change the narrative after the crushing of Ryan by VP Biden.

Especially when you see where the rest of the world is with their recovery, after following right wing policies of austerity. In the US – 32 months of constant growth. Consumer confidence up. Manufacturing up. Housing prices up. One war ended, another one on the way. Bin Ladin dispatched to hell. New industries launched. Auto industry recovered and thriving. Stock market doubled. All of this without a single helping hand from the right wing, and plenty of active and vile obstruction instead.

And now, America puts Romney on a stage with President Obama and tells the President to “perform” or else. It’s astounding. I wish people could remember how they felt on Nov 4, 2008, and learn that President Obama has done his absolute best to keep his promises. It’s bittersweet.

I was in the UK on election day in 2008. The next day everyone was buying me drinks and thanking me. It was AWESOME. I’ll never forget it. The days leading up, everyone kept asking if I was going to make it back to vote – they all knew how important it was for the GLOBE, especially how scary Palin was. I had to explain about voting my mail. :D :D :D

Romney’s Company Forces U.S. Flag to Be Lowered in Illinois

    Salem-News.com
It took place as Chinese workers replaced U.S. workers losing their jobs.

    Courtesy: Politico

(WASHINGTON DC) – If Mitt Romney is elected president, the American flag itself may actually be restricted from flying in the United States. That word comes from employees losing their jobs in Freeport, Illinois.

The Presidential Candidate holds major stock in a company called Sensata. The company recently made factory officials take down the American flag when they were forced to train their Chinese replacement workers, according to Tom Gaulrapp, with the United Steelworkers Union.

Right now in Freeport, Illinois, some 170 workers at an auto sensor plant are sleeping in tents to protest Bain-owned Sensata Technology’s decision to ship their jobs to China.

Romney claims he knows nothing about this. But the New York Times explains: “[Mitt Romney] owns about $8 million worth of Bain funds that hold 51 percent of Sensata’s shares. If Sensata saves money by closing the Freeport plant, that could add money to Mr. Romney’s trust accounts, now or after the election.”

This is taking place as Mitt Romney tries to convince people to believe that he doesn’t know about Bain’s shipping American jobs overseas. He is trying to distance himself from Bain Capital, a pioneer of outsourcing where Romney made a fortune as CEO.

Another employee losing her job, Mary Jo Kerr, is a young mom of three. She’s heartbroken because she can’t afford dance lessons for her daughter. Another is Dot Turner, so close to retirement, but will not receive it. Instead Dot will get just 26 weeks’ severance for 43 years of work in the plant.

Watch and share the Sensata workers’ story at http://www.usw.org/election2012.

I was tweeting the crap out of that video yesterday. When I saw the above I sent a few more. Also forwarded to LOD and Rev Al. I think Rev Al will pick it up because the union worker specifically mentioned the fact that the flag was removed and replaced by the Chinese flag on Rev Al’s show tonight. Rev Al said he wanted to locate someone to talk to about that.

We know that there are all kinds of people who are enthusiastic in their support for President Obama in this election. But recently Michelle Obama singled out one group that she knows a thing or two about.

    ……………………………….

“So there is a seriousness about the direction of the country but let me tell you, older Black*** women love Barack Obama! Don’t mess with Barack Obama! There’s a lot of prayers going out and when you see the secret service, they’ve got to bolster up because they [Black women] are not going to let that go!”

*** Here in TODville, she can just take out the ‘black’.
