In presidential debate, Obama takes Romney to school
At the very beginning of his third and final debate with Barack Obama Monday night, Mitt Romney turned toward the president and said: “Mr. President, it’s good to be with you again.”
And I would bet that, about 90 minutes later, even Romney would agree that it was not that good to have been on the debate stage with Obama once again.
At age 65, Mitt Romney probably thought he was done with school. But he got schooled by Obama on foreign policy at what will be their last meeting before Election Day.
Romney wasn’t terrible. But he was on the defensive for much of the evening, a fine sheen of sweat popped put on his forehead long before the debate ended, and – - worst of all – - Romney was repeatedly forced to say he agreed with Obama on policy after policy.
That’s his job gone with GOPolitico!
Actually Roger Simon is the only reasonable one on politico. Most of his columns are generally favorable to PBO. My other half likes him and usually sends me the highlights via email because I refuse to give clicks to that sh!tty website.
Thought I’d bring this over – kind of says it all.

Well I’ve gone from sad to just plain pissed. Have you EVER seen such a cynical campaign in your life? Say anything, do anything and enough of the American electorate will be STUPID enough to vote for you. Could this campaign possibly be more insulting to the American electorate? My god, what have we come to?
Don’t be sad, Foxfire. In 14 days we will have created the future of America and will be working with President Obama to build that future, day after day.
Do you always get sad in the middle of a celebration?
Nope, I’m thrilled for PBO but sad with the state of our politics. I just want him to get his ass kicked from one end to the other for treating all of us so disrespectfully and with such contempt. Just makes me even more grateful for PBO. But it is a sorry lesson for those who are engaged in the political process for the first time.
Mitt’s cynical attitude and belief that he just needed to show up will spur Democrats out to vote. The situation is too serious for the likes of Mitt Romney, and I think tonight showed that the world needs someone who knows enough to keep the troops safe, and that Iran and Syria don’t share a border (and that Iran is actually the path to the sea for most of the Middle East – not Syria). And I loved that when Romney ran to the relative safety of the economy, President Obama followed him there and made him own his record as governor.
Don’t worry. Mitt lost this debate – as he should have lost it. He’s totally unworthy.
The third and final presidential debate was President Obama’s best moment in the campaign so far. He was prepared on every issue and knew Mitt Romney’s record of past statements just as well.
Obama succeeded because he conveyed his unique view of the world from the Oval Office. For undecided voters watching, all they probably heard was that he’s the commander-in-chief. And that’s what Team Obama wanted.
For the most part, Romney made an effort to look presidential by not attacking. He was exceedingly careful and desperately tried not to make a mistake. In fact, despite his rhetoric for the last two years, he now apparently agrees with most of the Obama administration’s foreign policy.
As a result, Romney’s biggest opponent was not the president, it was his own words. Obama did a brilliant job of bringing up past Romney statements — on Iraq, on the nation’s biggest adversary, on Afghanistan, on Osama bin Laden — to make him look unprepared for the presidency.
As the debate went on, Romney tried many times to move the international affairs discussion back to the economy where he was more comfortable. It was as if he had only 30 minutes of foreign policy talking points for a 90 minute debate. As a result he seemed to string together random thoughts which often made him sound incoherent.
Obama won the debate hands down.
Word salad, like someone else said. It’s wild how this man rises to the challenge at the last minute. Most people avoid high wire act, he seems to thrive in it. Mitt got mowed down tonite by the greatest political talent any party has produced in a long time.
I think my favorite ingredient in the word salad was “I met someone from Appleton, Wisconsin!” And that was it! No more information on who, what, why. Well, congratulations, Mittster — I have also met people from various towns, and I’m no more qualified to be president than you are.
“I met someone from Appleton, Wisconsin!” And that was it! No more information on who, what, why. Well, congratulations, Mittster.”
I read an article by someone on this blog that when Mitt was the Gov of MA he did not know any or only few legislators names on either side even at the end of his time in office. That matches what the friend of the former Marine that was killed in Benghazi told him about meeting Mitt at a party and how Romney came up to him about 4x that night introducing himself as if he never met him before and one of the times was within a half an hour of the last time. To me that shows he really does not care about the people he meets that they only serve a purpose for him.

Scathing NY Times Editorial…
Mr. Obama hit Mr. Romney hard on his ever-shifting positions on world affairs, including comments he made in 2008 disparaging the idea that killing Osama bin Laden should be a priority. “You said we should ask Pakistan for permission,” Mr. Obama said. “If we had asked Pakistan for permission, we would not have gotten it.”
Mr. Romney’s closing statement summed it all up. He said almost nothing about foreign policy. He moved back to his comfort zone: cheerfully delivered disinformation about domestic policy.

MITT “ME TOO” ROMNEY
Presidential debate: Romney endorses Obama
Monday’s presidential debate, the third and last between President Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney, featured a forceful and articulate defense of Obama’s foreign policy. That was no surprise. What was surprising was that it came from Romney.
If Romney believes in a thoughtful and centrist foreign policy, which he hadn’t until Monday night, it would argue for his candidacy. But if that vision is attractive — and it is — why not stick with the president who is already pursuing it?
I think we’ve found a bigger fool than Palin. I’m caught between laughter and befuddlement.
