Good evening all you fine peoples.
Hey guys, I tweeted Jonathan Alter, et al to ask which sitting President visited Israel. Still waiting.
If I am not mistaken, I think Bill Clinton did during his second term.
Hey Chips and friends.
Last one me for a bit. ‘nite all!

You call that needing to be gone for awhile? :) Potty break? Walk the dog? Dinner? That was quick!
Nah, got distracted by the Twittah! I’m really out now. Love ya!
Love you back:)
I love that old FDR speech – and many of his other speeches. Thanks for this.
“Famed civil rights attorney Gloria Allred will be in a Boston area courtroom Wednesday in an attempt to unseal the sworn testimony given by Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, in a prior court case, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.” http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/10/gloria-allred-mitt-romney-october-surprise-gag-order
That picture of Mitt is going viral – as it should – as for the “Norfolk Probate & Family Court in Canton” – case will probably stay sealed.
What is the case about? I am dying with curiosity.

Thank you Collegekay!!!
Let’s see if this is better. I was having a heck of a time on the last thread:)
Yeah, when there’s a lot of tweets and videos or the thread is very long, everything gets bogged down.
“When people worry about the voting machines in Ohio, one of the things that must be considered is that the election has to be close enough to be stolen. During the conference call, both Axelrod and Messina suggested that their goal was to pile up huge margins in the early voting swing states that would make the math for Romney difficult to impossible to overcome on Election Day. ” http://www.politicususa.com/bad-news-romney-ohio-early-voting-turnout-obama-gop.html
This is patently false. I can write software where you push a button for Mickey Mouse, and the receipt will say Mickey Mouse, but it will register Goofy at the server, even though Goofy was never one of your choices, and you’ll never know. I can make the totals anything I want. I can flip those totals by remote at any time during voting hours when the machines are active.
It’s simple math.
Your buttons are:
A – Mickey
B – Alice
My code (that you don’t see) says (basically):
A = Print Mickey receipt, register Goofy vote, every 20th press register Mickey
B = Print Alice receipt, register Goofy vote, every 100th press register Alice
The false thinking above is not only outrageously ignorant, it’s dangerous, and that is what the GOP is counting on.
True but there are election officials of both parties that do test runs the day before and the morning of. They have a protocol that they must follow. I was a poll watcher in 2010 and watched this testing being done that morning which took about 1/2 hour to run tests through and produce tape results.
Those election machines are not plugged into a remote facility. They are independent software for that particular polling precinct. So what you describe above is of course possible but to do it and commit election fraud it would have to be done onsite with the Dem election officials and poll watchers there. The votes are reviewed by the election officials and tabulated at each site BEFORE they are shipped to a central location.
We did not allow the Media to set the narrative for all the debates after the first one. We need to not allow them to set the narrative over the ridiculously biased polls on, as Seth Meyer said Saturday on SNL: “These are the polls of people who still answer their landline phones from UNKNOWN callers.”
I’m not going to allow them to tell me to shut my eyes to the easiest way to steal an election just because they don’t understand C++/JAVA/HTML5…etc
What if we were quiet on all the voter suppression and voter list purges that are happening?
The last thing anyone should trust is software. Seriously. A university hacked it by REMOTE. Please read this first: http://www.salon.com/2011/09/27/votinghack/ They’ve hacked the machines BY REMOTE. This is real.
Please don’t misunderstand what I’m trying to say. If our eyes are open to the rest of their cheating, why would we close them to this? Here is what we KNOW:
- The GOP have ADMITTED the reason they want voter ID laws is to hand Romney the WIN.
- Voter suppression is ALL on the GOP side.
- They’ve repeatedly hired that crooked company that has been busted over and over throwing out DEM ballots, firing them when they’re caught, then re-hiring them under a new name.
- They’re hiring TEAbaggers to intimidate voters at the polls on election day, in minority neighborhoods, calling them POLL WATCHERS.
- They’ve put up billboards, they’ve sent letters, and they’re STILL falsely claiming people need ID to vote, in spite of court orders to cease and desist.
- Their candidate LIES repeatedly. hell, they ALL LIE REPEATEDLY.
- Do you trust them? The Kochs? Norquist? ROVE?? Romney?
If you think they’re going to use every single avenue to cheat and try to steal this election EXCEPT e-voting, ask yourself WHY would they leave the easiest way out of their equation?
E-voting is the easiest way to steal an election. Period. Ask ANYONE who works in software development. There are more controls on Nevada Gaming than there are in our e-voting.
I honestly think Rove tried to steal the 2008 election, but there was just too much overwhelming support for Obama, and he couldn’t because our numbers were EPICALLY HISTORIC. We MUST MUST MUST GOTV THIS TIME because he’s had four years to get better at his theft.
TEST RUNS DO NOT MATTER. As for independent software – really? Have you seen it? Have you read it? When did it becomes open source code for the public to look at? As far as I know the “proprietary” has always been a part of it, and no government software people have been allowed to review the code EVER. But none of that matters to a hacker.
So what if they run the software? If I have code that allows me to run a remote program that changes the totals to whatever I want, who cares if it runs normally during the tests? All I have to do is flip the totals at the servers where the totals are stored, and anyone I want can win the election, even someone whose name isn’t on any ballot. Have the totals ever been close enough to warrant a recount where there is electric voting? I’m curious, I really don’t know.
How can you tell your e-vote has been hacked? Will you know when you vote? Nope. What if there is no exit poll where you vote?
Why would Tagg invest in Ohio voting machines? Why not…. North Dakota? Any not [pick any red state]?
The problem isn’t just the Romney machines. It’s ALL the e-voting machines, and they’re ALL owned by the GOP. The voting machines, the tally machines, and the servers where the vote totals are stored.
Am I the only one that remembers Kerry winning in 2004 and Karen Hughes told GWB to go write his concession speech. He told her that Rove promised a victory. Two hours later the totals had magically flipped.
I can’t believe so many people don’t understand how software works, or that there is evidence that the vote was hacked in Ohio in 2004.
And this from my post above – I worked in software development and testing. I’m not pulling this out of my ass:
I can write software where you push a button for Mickey Mouse, and the receipt will say Mickey Mouse, but it will register Goofy at the server, even though Goofy was never one of your choices, and you’ll never know. I can make the totals anything I want. I can flip those totals by remote at any time during voting hours when the machines are active.
My totals will be large enough to NEVER warrant a recount, so your receipt is pointless.
******19 STATES WILL HAVE NO EXIT POLLING.*******
We are fighting voter suppression. I cannot fathom not fighting this, since it’s easier, and can be done on a much larger scale. What if voter suppression is the SHINY that we’re supposed to look at, while the theft takes place on a much bigger scale?
Brad at Bradblog has been researching black box voting since 2000. He’s not an idiot.
I fucking feel like Cassandra. If ANY DEMOCRAT had invested in e-voting machines, the GOP would be screaming. We should be too.
I vote by mail. I wish we would make it a requirement nationally like they do in WA & OR. If we don’t scream now, when? Nothing may change. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to be quiet about it.
Not that you need me to say this, but you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!! I really wish we could go back to pen and paper ballot. Have a zillion people actually count the ballots out in the open.
Software is WAY TO EASY to tamper with. PURE AND SIMPLE.
Tally, I know this is a subject dear to your heart because you speak passionately about it, AND this is not the first time you have raised it here. In all seriousness (since I may have missed it) did you ever send a detailed copy of ideas like these to OFA? I sure hope so, because I know that last time they engaged volunteer lawyers, etc. and given their high level of technological savvy they would certainly have followed up on something like this either with volunteer or paid labour.
Here are just 3 examples of voting machine fraud. Several more are listed. This is no joke and I was astounded that the state Senator from Ohio pretty much poo pooed the idea of voting machine fraud.
Tally, you make a compelling case. Unfortunately, at this late hour when people have already voted in Ohio, I don’t know what can be done to remedy the situation for this election. In the future, however, the problem of voter suppression, using all kinds of tricks, needs to be seriously addressed.
Many years ago when I was a child in Jamaica, voters would go in, draw a circle around their choice, dip an index finger in red ink and leave. The votes would be counted later by people from both sides. It can still be done that way. That ink would stay on your finger for days so you couldn’t go back and vote again even if you wanted to. No computers to rig or break down and faster too.
Truth or fiction? I don’t know. Really relevant? I don’t know. It’s dated July 2011
A new filing in the King Lincoln Bronzeville v. Blackwell case includes a copy of the Ohio Secretary of State election production system configuration that was in use in Ohio’s 2004 presidential election when there was a sudden and unexpected shift in votes for George W. Bush.
The filing also includes the revealing deposition of the late Michael Connell. Connell served as the IT guru for the Bush family and Karl Rove. Connell ran the private IT firm GovTech that created the controversial system that transferred Ohio’s vote count late on election night 2004 to a partisan Republican server site in Chattanooga, Tennessee owned by SmarTech.

Van Duzer attends debate, gives speech at campaign rally | Photo gallery, video
Van Duzer, who was hand-picked by Obama’s campaign team to help drum up enthusiasm in the crowd of 11,000, yelled above the cheers that “He wanted to make a difference for folks and he has.”
As flags and arms waved in the crowd, Van Duzer, 43, screamed “It’s our turn to fight for him! The only choice is the right choice … President Barack Obama!”
Van Duzer said he was asked to introduce Obama amid the media whirlwind following the president’s surprise campaign stop last month at Van Duzer’s Big Apple Pizza & Pasta in Fort Pierce. On Tuesday, he spoke about what it was like attending the presidential debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton, and how he got on the exclusive guest list.
Van Duzer talks about sitting next to Michelle Obama at Monday’s debate | Video
Scott Van Duzer, who was back in the campaign spotlight Tuesday when he introduced President Obama during his campaign stop in Delray Beach, later spoke about what it was like sitting next to First Lady Michelle Obama Monday night during the presidential debate at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University in Boca Raton.
Nice! I’m sure that Amk, Yardarm, Japa, Bob, Bill, etc would have loved to be in Van Duzer’s shoes!
“The picture that we had taken puts him in a perspective where a lot of people don’t see him as,” he said. “And what had happened in the talks between he and I — and a lot of people don’t believe that — is that one of the first questions people ask ‘is he really that genuine,’ and I’m telling you it was like we were high school buddies. When he first came into my store, to the interaction I’ve had with him ever since, I’m telling you . . . when he came down to the stage right after the debate, he acted like we had been friends for 20 years.”
He said he also felt the White House tapped him to attend the debate because of his role as a community leader and small business owner.
“I said yes, he invited us up to the White House (Tuesday),” Van Duzer said. “It sounds hard to believe but you meet certain people and you have an instant connection and he just happens to be the president.”
I find it hard to believe that anyone can meet the President and NOT have an “instant connection” – well illustrated by the Romney children after the debate.
I absolutely love this story. This good man seems so down to earth and full of heart, and I think the President sees a kindred spirit. It’s disheartening to hear they’ve received death threats.
Van Duzer debunks the mainstream media meme that President Obama is aloof and arrogant.
Re-posting this here from bottom of last thread as the article is worth reading.
Why Romney isn’t Rigging Voting Machines (and why rumors of that is a form of voter suppression).
I firmly believe that the Obama campaign of 2012 knows every detail in every precinct just as they did in every swing state in 2008. I was part of a team of Voter Protection in Indiana (with my two attorney friends) at one polling location on election day. We had to attend a 2 hour training in Chicago with hundreds of other attorneys covering Indiana. We had hotline numbers to call which were instantly picked up. Every precinct has poll watchers in addition as well as equal Dem and Republican poll workers.
I agree with you. I have been through the Voter Protection training as well.
Joe looks good. He’s kinda sexy.
Yes he is. Who is that behind those Foster Grants?
He’s freaking amazing and those aviators are kick ass.
Right now, this is the only poll I trust, since they have no skin in the game for ad revenue. 7-eleven.com/7-Election/Nat…— Tally Briggs (@bardgal) October 24, 2012
Yea. Even though 14 red states and 2 blue states don’t participate all the swing states are blue.
PBO is one fine man. I could survive meeting him, but VP Joe Biden is a whole other issue. I’ve had a crush on him for over 30 years, and if I met him face-to face, I’m not sure if I could ever get my heartbeat restored to its normal rhythm.
Not to worry! ObamaCare would take care of the arrhythmia.
ROTFLMBO!!! Hopefruit, you are crazy, but in a good way!
majiir – Back off! Ha! I’m just kidding. I’ve loved Joe about the same amount of time, and am proud of it!

Just going to LOVE seeing Wolf declare President Obama elected for 4 more years
OMG I love this so much!!!!
Jesse Gryphen at the Immoral Minority posted a close up of Romney from last night’s debate. No wonder many have been commenting on how much Romney was sweating.
Link to the Romney family interaction with PBO on C-span in the comments. http://www.c-spanvideo.org/clip/4068681 – tells a lot about the Romney family – the child was desperate for PBO to hold him – and also, too, Mitt Romney interacted with the Romney Family while PBO interacted with the Romney family. He (Romney) should have been speaking with Michelle Obama – but he only speaks with family and rich old white men. Impressive that c-span decided to show the “Romney Grandson” as a separate video. Highlighted all that is good about the Obama family and all that is bad about Willard & Co.
I noticed that Michelle was very brisk with the Romney family, polite, but brisk – she shook hands with the first son and quickly walked past him. When Tagg was sucking up to President Obama, Michelle was refusing to smile, even though Ann and Mitt were smirking and laughing like there were jokes being told. I think the President was ready to accept the apology and walk away, but I believe Michelle then said “I appreciate you saying that. Thank you”, and Tagg shook her hand. So, I believe Tagg apologized in person, and Michelle forgave him for disrespecting her husband and her President. I’m glad she showed that she was offended – she had every right to be offended. At some point, it gets to be too much. And for these Romney’s parading themselves as being somehow misrepresented and maligned, they needed to own their disrespect to someone good and honorable, who is leagues ahead of anything they could possibly aspire to be.
wow, that kid was CLEARLY going for an Obama hug. WOW!!! and SNATCH!! away they took him

Does anyone here believe Rachel’s registered voters chart in IA, CO and FL, which she discussed tonight? I don’t.
was she concern trolling ?
YES – does it ever occur to anyone that
the democrats did NOT have a primary this year for the President. Lots of Gopers registered to vote in the primary – after what they got it remains to be seen if they would bother voting in November
I fell asleep in my chair and missed it. What happened?
No! She has an agenda.
Punditry suspension for another 14 days! :)
What did it say?
I didn’t believe it, and I’m glad the Democrats told her that they are not worried.
Pic showing just how much Romney was sweating last night.
The thing is – President Obama saw that close up. I am still in awe of President Obama’s inherent goodness. When he told Romney that he wanted to talk about the trips they’ve taken, he didn’t ridicule Romney for his gaffes – he confronted him on his deliberate action of fundraising and flying there with donors. Every attack the President made on Romney wasn’t designed to humiliate him (except for the horses and bayonettes, but that was well deserved after months of nonsense about cutting the deficit and it illustrated a point); it was designed to bring attention to a character flaw or flawed policy. The President left Romney with as much integrity as he could find after a campaign full of lies. Anyone else would have shamed Romney mercilessly. I like that about President Obama. He always holds himself to the highest standard, no matter how low his audience or opponent
Ryan: “Look, to compare modern American battleships with bayonets, I, I just don’t understand that comparison. Look, we have to have a strong Navy to keep peace and prosperity. If all these defense cuts go through, our Navy will be small than it was before World War I. That’s not acceptable. And, yes, the…the ocean hasn’t shrunk.”
His Palin moment.
e still doesn’t get it. This should be a disqualifier.
I can’t believe he doesn’t understand this. I assume he doesn’t have a record player strapped to his arm when he works out.
This is old, Chips. I think it’s been posted here several times in the last few months. Most recently by Tally, I believe. It should finish Willard, but unfortunately, the press aren’t journalists, so they don’t give a frack.
Yeah Lisa, I think it first appeared on YouTube in March, but someone tweeted it to me tonight so I thought I’d post it here again. After the 47% video I think this one should take on a new life, but I won’t hold my breath.
I won’t hold my breath either, Chips. What a country we live in, where the so called fourth estate are colluding with those they are supposed to be protecting us from. I honestly believe something’s gotta give.
Honestly Lisa, I thought I’d seen it all before this election, but the media has never been more disgusting, deceitful or dishonest. They are the dregs of the earth.
The complete disintegration of the American press is the undoing of our democracy. They have failed in their very first responsibility.
I agree. With all of the baggage of the Romneys, including the lies, not releasing taxes, accounts in Switzerland and Cayman Island, dismissing 47% of population and on and on, thiis guy should have been ousted as a candidate if the media had done their jobs. It is no way PBO could have gotten away with any of this. MSM have the nerve to tell us that the race is neck and neck and now they are making decisions on whether we are competing in certain states. So far all of the evening pundits have mentioned this s%%%. DESPICABLE!!!!

Brilliant Bob, I really think this video should be dug up again, it barely got noticed last time. Legend!
This man makes my skin crawl!!!!!
Slightly off topic but my goodness do you see First Daughter Malia all over President Obama? The walk? The smile?
There are lots of pictures where their mannerisms are identical. When they were coming back from Hawaii last Christmas, there’s a picture where they were walking with the exact same footsteps and with the same posture and expression on their faces. There was a picture last week where they looked identical, as well. But, I also see a lot of Michelle’s bone structure in Malia’s face.
My son shares “the exact same footsteps” with some of his children. I actually have photos of him with some of them walking away from my house (he lives on the same street) because I just love that little “inheritance” I see right before my eyes. I’ve also picked up on the similarities between PBO and Malia. Amazing every time you see this. A family treasure of a different sort.
This is so true. I’ve seen it with my sister and her daughter.
I loved your comment, all around!
Thanks Jacq! :)
That instagram pic on the bottom is gorgeous…love it! Isn’t it sweet of that boy who is above and a few rows back on the left of President Obama how he is reaching way down to touch the President’s shoulder. Such a beautiful moment for The President and for the children. Maybe a one day future President is sitting there in the group of kids, a kid inspired by meeting President Barack Obama.
For those of my generation, I think I also recall that Bill Clinton met President Kennedy in the ’60s, and no doubt felt the same inspiration.

I’ve decided to take the next two weeks off from the punduncery. The next time I watch MSNBFOX, it’ll be after the election, so Nov 7th. Can’t allow those creeps with their incessant chatter to mess with my Obama Bliss.
What took you so long, lol. Enjoy life without the quacks, it truly IS blissful!
I believe that!
I never listen to that BS. But it’s all over the net so you’re not really tuning out. Just saving some blood pressure spikes from watching the idiocy. Stay away long enough and you’ll go back!!
Good for you Lisa! Believe me you will feel liberated to focus your energy on positive things instead of being angry at your t.v. I say angry at your t.v. because you have no way of being able to confront, face to face, the pundits to call out their BS.
Hey, my son tells me all the time that the people on the TV can’t hear me. I only watch Rev Al, Bashir, Lawrence, the rest, nonsense.
Have y’all seen this demented craziness? The In. Repub Sen. candidate, Mourdock, said in a debate that if rape pregnancies occur, it was something God intended to happen. This is how extreme the Republican Party has become. They got rid of Lugar for this nut? This tea bagger, this Taliban style religious freak needs to be kept as far away from our govt. as possible. Sick, sick, sick.
I’m weirdly happy about it as this is sadly what ALL of them think anyway – this guy is just dumb enough to say it. So a possible additional Senate seat for the president just for insurance purposes to keep us over 50. YES! http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/senate-races/263475-donnelly-internal-poll-shows-narrow-lead-over-mourdock
‘Narrow lead’ for Donnelly? Good God.
Something is fundamentally wrong with my fellow men who belong to the right wing GOP. If “God intended” pregnancies from rape “to happen,” then why even bother bother to enact laws that punish rapists?

Why is North Carolina written off? I thought we were doing well there?
The Romney campaign put out a rumor that we were abandoning NC but it’s not true. Axelrod and Messina held a conference call today with press to go over that among other things. We are still fighting there, tooth and nail.
It isn’t written off. Campaign is going full on in all swing states – Messina and Axelrod confirmed today.
It’s not! It’s apparent, the Robney camp wanted this State licked down weeks ago, and it’s is anything but.
So, they leak it to the fucking Parroting press, and they get the media to concede NC fir the Obama camp.
Only problem is, we are kicking ads in early vote, and we are tied there.
It’s an old political ploy, and the media will always assist a friend in need. Check!
I am referring to NBC moving NC into Romney’s leaning Repub, and Nevada leaning Obama, taking them out of Toss Up swing states.
Ask chuck todd? He seems to get emails from the Romney camp and does what they say.
Indeed – MSNBC moved NC to the Romney camp, and Chuck Todd is the political director for MSNBC. Transparent.
ahhhhhh. Big mistake by NBC. Underpolling African American support and enthusiasm in North Carolina. The Obama campaign isn’t working to turn Indiana or Georgia blue this year and Michigan isn’t in play so, in effect, they have all those same resources available this year that they can put towards a blue North Carolina.
I agree with you.
I am behind the thread so I am updating this as of Wed. morning. I heard that the Romney camp was reported to have withdrawn from NC but only one person from the campaign had withdrawn the rest were still there. I also heard by a progressive talk radio commentator that the Romney campaign is trying to sound like they are in frontrunner position much like GW did against Gore at the end of the race.

Bill this just came out tonight?
Wow – that’s a great ad. Ouch. Romney might ALSO lose Indiana lmao. I wish….
I could never figure out why there wasn’t any kind of effort in Indiana this time. I thought it was a narrow win possibility again, especially aided by this freaky extremist Repub. Sen. candidaate. I called every corner of that state in 2008 and in addition to Indy and Bloomington which were solid Obama there were pockets of strong support all over the state—–northwest In.—-all Obama—-South Bend and Evansville. It was mostly only the rural areas where it was solid Repub.
Yeah, I’m not sure either. I guess because we won it by such a razor thin margin and with the economy they saw it out of reach.
In my EV predictions, I gave up IN. Too many nuts out there and 2008 was an aberration.

I have a real problem with charity rather than government looking after folks in distress. Charities can pick and choose who they support and how they support them. They can indoctrinate with political and religious viewpoints – and as this article shows, they can spend money in support of their views, rather in support of those in need.
Those with so much money, should pay more in taxes and let the government do what all governments are charged to do – look after their people.

Good news for older Americans: workers ages 55 and up represented 83% of job gains since September 2009. on.wsj.com/Sn4E5M— Wall Street Journal (@WSJ) October 24, 2012
And yet most of these nuts will vote for mittbot.
My 57 year old friend lost his job with Delphi, was unemployed for about 2 years, and finally found a job in the health care industry (thank you ACA and electronic records!). He’s making less that previously, but at least they have insurance. Long ago he was Republican but gave that up with the advent of Bush. He and his wife are dedicated Obots. A few days ago I sent them an article showing that Bain had a hand in the Delphi bankruptcy which cost Bill his job and his retirement.
I’m glad they were already Obots when they found out about Bain. They would have been devastated. Every dollar Romney spends was made by robbing some middle class person.
I’m getting a kick out of the woman in the pantsuit in the first photo checking out PBO. Seems as though he meets with her approval! Also, the woman with the ring in the second to last picture…how does she bend her finger?
I know – she’s wonderfully enthusiastic!

OMG this should be the Female Election Anthem of 2012. LOL
One of my colleagues told me about her patient who she saw today, an 83-year-old woman with metastatic colon cancer. She told her how worried she was. My partner thought it might be about her health but no, she was worried about President Obama and praying that he would be reelected. She went on and on about what a great man our President is!
Obotitis – It’s going around. Lets home everyone catches it. Unlike Romnesia
Final thoughts for today:
1. FLOTUS was very much NOT her usual amiable self on the stage with the robmes last night. She looked like she wanted out of there and fast. No hugging, reaching for ppl, brights wide eye smiles. Looked like she warned her man ahead of time too. He dispensed with the niceties and they were gone. I bet she wanted to punch someone and I doubt she has little respect for queenann.
2. just finished watching the Dynamic Duo in Ohio. Loved the intro they each did for the other. PBO really appreciates all that VPOTUS brings and I think he really does see him as a true friend, adviser and confident. VPOTUS seemed proud, not just of a president but a beloved son.
But the thing that really stood out for me was PBO leading a chant of ‘Biden, Biden Biden’. Instantly I thought of the recent robme/ryan ‘mini rally’ where robme didn’t like the crowd chanting ryan’s name. Awkward!
I don’t think ryan likes robme. He saw the ticket as a fast track to the fame he ‘severely’ desires but i don’t think he realized when he signed on how much of a dickhead robme really is. (not that he isn’t also but picture the tension between McCain and Sara the Quitter magnified)
Anyway what a contrast.
3. We’ve got this.
And with that thought….nite all.
I saw exactly the same thing regarding Michelle’s demeanor, and I don’t blame her one whit. Couldn’t have been easy to be so close to the people who have spent every waking moment lying about her husband, calling him a liar and corrupt and whining about being mistreated. She didn’t smile, and she told Tagg she was glad he apologized. That had to be the hardest thing, and she was probably counting down the minutes until she didn’t need to encounter these people anymore.
I thought that President Obama’s tribute to Joe Biden was so moving.
As I said elsewhere while POTUS was kindly talking with the Romney lot – Willard Romney was also talking with the Romney lot – he should have been introducing Michelle Obama to his family – but he only talks to his family and rich old white folks. Watch the family interactions on C-span – the kids (old and young) wanted nothing of Willard & only to talk with PBO.
Yup – I watched that video several times, because Michelle’s demeanor caught my eye. The Romney’s only seem to mix with their own.
Theo – utterly unreal that anyone in the “lesser ranks” would vote for Romney. he despises the 47% with a vengeance. When I see PBO talking with everyone and anyone (even the Romneys) my heart flips. From a young child – to the Queen of England, or the PM of israel, PBO has just the right words to say.
He’s completely human and he relates to people as fellow humans. Plain and simple – and yet, he’s extraordinary.
I must say that I also noticed the same about FLOTUS. She was not feeling it. They were probably giving off bad vibes. Miss Ann is not that friendly amd I am sure FLOTUS was remembering how she called her husband petulant and not a good sport after the first debate. FLOTUS and POTUS loves honesty.
POTUS and FLOTUS think people should be treated with respect, too. And those Romneys have treated them with nothing but disrespect. I’m glad the Obamas didn’t fake it.
Flipped on the tube when I got home tonight and caught the rerun of the Ed Show. I usually don’t watch him but was glad I did tonight. He had Richard Wolf on to discuss the debate and asked him if the Romney campaign thought the voters were really that stupid with respect to the changes in Romney’s position. Wolf replied: “They don’t think the voters are that stupid. They think the media is that stupid!” Ding, ding, ding!!!!! How correct he is. But there seem to be a few who are starting to call the media out on the Romney momentum bluff. Hope this starts to turn some of the narrative.
I caught Dan Rather on Maddow, and he also indicted the media – including himself.
When I saw him theo, I fastforwarded the tv because I thought he was going to bash PBO. I am glad that he didn’t. :)
The opening segment of Rachel Maddow’s show tonight was epic. People should watch it. It made me pause and think.
Des Moines Register all in a snit that Obama gave editor a phone interview “off the record”. (I’m not sure of the reason for that) But they’re going on and on about how nice Romney was to sit down with them for an hour and a half interview and made a nasty threat type statement at the end of the Obama rant——’and we’ll be endorsing for president this weekend’. It sounded so childish—–and one wonders why they agreed to an off the record interview if it was going to make them so angry. The press is a mess.
Exactly!!! I am sure they will endorse Robney. They could have refused to do the off record interview. This makes no sense.
They just discredited their own endorsement.
Not interested in truth and facts – just who will sit and tell them stories – joke
I tried to post a comment – not sure if it actually posted:
President Obama’s plans and vision for his second term are clear in his speeches and publications. I would think that journalists such as yourselves would be aware of that. President Obama has been consistent throughout his public life. I doubt there was anything in that call that would have surprised or clarified his positions for people who were paying attention. On the other hand, an interview with Mr. Romney, whether televised or audio-only is just another chance for him to change positions. Obviously you would have liked a better story, and you want your readers to know your feelings were hurt. But if the call was as insightful as you say, (and I’m sure it was), you will look very foolish if you endorse anyone except President Barack Obama.
Bingo. While I wonder why the WH wanted this off-the-record – doesn’t seem worth this snitfit and they could have very well declined to do any interview – if they endorse mittbot just because of the off-the-record then basically they have trashed their endorsement, as theo said despite their claim “It’s important that I emphasize the White House’s decision won’t play a factor in our board’s final endorsement decision. That would be petty and ridiculous.”

Biden greets volunteers in Springfield, Ohio. | AP Photo
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Given the reception Vice President Joe Biden received at a field office here Tuesday, it’s a wonder that he and the president are not faring better in the polls with seniors. It’s clear that Biden, at least, appears to be faring well with senior ladies.
Biden walked in for the surprise visit carrying a stack of large pizzas for the 80 or so volunteers – mostly women over 50 – who were gathered there, phone banking. The shrieks began within seconds: “Oh Jesus!” “Joe Biden’s here?” “Oh my God, oh, my God!”
“Oh Lord, please don’t let me faint,” Patrice Toliver said, a phone to her ear. She was in the middle of speaking with a voter, and was frantically trying to explain what was happening. “He’s coming into headquarters right now!” she exclaimed.
As Biden came closer, she abruptly hung up on the voter and stood still and silent and wide-eyed, seemingly shell-shocked.
“You’re the reason we’re going to win Ohio,” the vice president told the group.
One woman replied, “No, you’re the reason!”
Biden then began working the room, taking pictures, giving hugs, shaking hands, stroking faces.
“He’s so freakin’ personable!” said 74-year-old Ellen Wallace as she watched him greet people. “It’s unbelievable. He’s just a magnet.”
One woman approached him and without so much as a hello, gushed, “I have a cup o’ Joe every morning.” This reporter could not hear his reply, but a colleague insisted that Biden then experienced a rare moment of speechlessness.
The volunteers were seated at tables lined up in four long rows, and as he approached the third row, where a group of four women sat, he told them a few things about his mother.
“The good Lord created two perfect women: the Blessed Mother and my mom,” he said.
Biden went on to tell a story he told at the Democratic National Convention about being bullied and smacked around by a neighborhood boy when he was growing up in Scranton, Penn. He said that when he told his mother what happened, she pushed him to confront the boy and punch him in the nose. “’Joey do it,’” Biden recounted her saying. When he did, the boy ran away crying, Biden said.
The story prompted a man standing nearby, Springfield resident and OFA volunteer Rodney Hillard, to say, “Joe, that’s how you did it at the debate, you showed that Paul Ryan.”
Biden smiled, then said, “You all learned what the word ‘malarkey’ meant, right?“
One woman who scored a “huge hug” from Biden, Roxandra Antoniadis, said afterward that she will never forget it.
“It was the thrill of my life!” she said. “He’s magnificent.”

New polls: Obama +7 in Virginia, Obama +3 in Ohio… pwire.at/VodX5K— Taegan Goddard (@politicalwire) October 24, 2012
Forus, great, great news about Virginia. I couldn’t believe the state I lived in for 30 years would let us down. Let’s get out every pro PBO vote in every DC Virginia suburb. Go Old Dominion!! Wonder if Nate Silver will tell Willard to pull out of VA as he suggested to the president when the “polls” were tied in Florida. Not holding my breath.
That poll is, unfortunately, older than the Hills.
It’s a month long survey that covers the time period of the first and second debates so it doesn’t take into account any 3rd debate possible bounce. Most polls are a snapshot of 4 days or so. This one covers one month from Sept 19 to October 17. So it’s not old – it’s just a much wider snapshot.
PBO +3 in OH, +7 in VA

I just read that this is the ONLY senate candidate that Romney has done an ad for. ?!? Unbelievable that we are living in the year 2012 with these neanderthals.
A Christian God – or for that matter a Hindu, Muslim, Jewish or any other type of God would never intend a woman to bear the child of a rapist – NEVER NEVER. Truly evil thoughts by an excuse for a person endorsed by Willard Romney.
More early voting in Nevada good news. GOP did not see a surge in voting with both Romney//Ryan there yesterday.

Here is the Cleveland Plain Dealer trying to tamp down concerns and inquiries about Romney family connection to the voting machines in 2 counties in Ohio, including the populous Cincinnati area.
This is the point I was making last night. Vigilance is important and so these stories are worth checking out. But there is a reason the Obama campaign hasn’t raised this as an issue. They either don’t think that there is a real opportunity for tampering or they think there might be but don’t want to cause alarm for fear of apathy of voters or they are working behind the scenes with officials to address the concerns. Either way they they aren’t spreading this story.
Unfortunately, our side is overhyping this, and the suppresion in votes, could come from scaring of OUR voters, on this matter.
Have faith in the Obama camp, they know what’s up, they are not stupid, nor ate they helpless.
