Mitt is unworthy to be President, yet the MSM whitewashes damn near everything this man does and says. When we win, we must not forget how the MSM (e.g. Chuck Todd Andrea Mitchell, etc) behaved.

  9. October 26, 2012 at 12:56 pm

Forget the public national polls showing Mitt Romney pulling even with Barack Obama among women, according to senior Obama advisers steeped in internal data: Obama enjoys a “strong, double-digit” lead among female voters in battleground states like Ohio.

The same holds true in Pennsylvania, where the president remains on “solid” ground, despite several public polls showing a tightening race, according to senior campaign officials.

        Yes, I saw it.

Obama understood this. Even if the rescue worked as he hoped it would, chances were good that progress would be slow in coming—that, by today, the companies would still be struggling, creating a political embarrassment. Obama approved the rescue anyway. And that included granting assistance to Chrysler. Half of his economic advisers opposed that, fearing, among other things, the shrinking car market was too small to support both companies. Obama’s rationale was simple: If he had the power to stop the devastation of either company shutting down, he was going to use it.

Romney’s inconsistent rhetoric may leave us wondering precisely what he really thought and would have done. But they tell us a lot about how he operates in the face of political pressure. When Romney was trying to appease conservatives and win the Republican primaries, he went out of his way to attack the rescue as a waste of taxpayer dollars. When Romney was trying to win over voters in Michigan and, now, as he has been trying to win over voters in Ohio, he has emphasized the similarities between the remedy he proposed initially and the solution Obama eventually chose. Can anybody who’s followed these shifts say honestly Romney has the mettle to make a tough decision and stick with it?

Put it all together, and it’s possible to draw from the auto industry rescue a pretty good lesson about the real differences between Obama and Romney. Obama understands that the market doesn’t always work on its own—that sometimes government must intervene in order to protect Americans from economic harm. Romney doesn’t. Obama is also willing to act in the face of political peril. Romney isn’t.

Those differences should matter to all Americans, not just those of us who live in Michigan and Ohio.

  13. October 26, 2012 at 1:01 pm

So, Robney is giving an economic speech in a couple? And of course, it will have Road block cable coverage and they will probably show it all.

Vice President Joe Biden joked Friday that Republicans’ views on social policy are stuck in a long-ago era, and threw in a pop culture reference for the students listening to him at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

GOP social views “caught up in ‘Mad Men’ or something,” Biden said told the crowd of 1,000 at his first of two Badger State rallies Friday.

“It’s straight out of the ’50s,” he added, though the show is set in the early 1960s.

Their foreign policy, he said, echoing President Obama’s comments in the final presidential debate, is out of the 1980s.

Speaking to an audience filled with people who hadn’t been born during either decade, he also joked, “As you can tell, I’m a very old guy.”

This might also explain why the MSM is reporting polling numbers to be so close. I’d bet that some of those bastard are in on it too.

          • October 26, 2012 at 2:27 pm

Given that most of these polling outfits are merely stenographers for Willard as well as dependent on cash flow from the #GOP, the narrative they must push is ‘horse race’ because the feedback circuit that that is primarily meant to enforce is cash flow to the broadcast (primarily) media from ads aired. But, beyond those cash flow issues, if the incessant narrative doesn’t support a ‘horse race’ illusion then much of the cover for this type of hack is blown.

What Team Obama knows are their internal polls, and you know they’ve got uber-sophisticated folk and tools, on the job. On a precinct by precinct basis, they are tracking, undoubtedly, all information coming from early voting and they have all the precinct data from previous elections. With that information and their internal polls, they are likely tracking for evidence of exactly the kind of pattern discussed in the video. I have no doubt that if they thought a hack might be underway they’d take action. Same applies to the DoJ.

Everyone knows this election is the fulcrum of the future of America and one side has already revealed how over-the-top aware and afraid they are of the demographic realities of the America of now.

We’ll prevail, of that I’m confident.

You and me both Yardarm. That is why I always stress the fact that the MSM is trying to make the election seem closer than it really is. I don’t know what the motivation is, but I would not put anything past the corrupt corporate owned media. It is important for us to not buy into the MSM’s propaganda of a close race. Buying into the propaganda will embolden these bastards to cheat. Sunlight is the best disinfectant and word should be spread far and wide about how skewed and biased the MSM’s coverage of this election has been.

          • 82 nathkatun7
            October 26, 2012 at 7:22 pm

Yardarm, I am glad you reached the same conclusion as I did. All these polls that are all of a sudden showing a close race have really been puzzling me. I normally don’t believe in conspiracy theories but something just doesn’t smell right. The media seem to be preparing the country to accept whatever results they propose. I was especially struck by hearing that the media will no longer report exit polls in many states. Unlike exit polls in other states that mirrored election results, exit polls in Florida in 2000 and in Ohio in 2004 drastically differed with the final results. Florida decided the 2000 election and Ohio the 2004 election. Without those states President Bush would never have been elected or re-elected.

        • October 26, 2012 at 2:07 pm

BTW, I investigated certain counties after the 2004 election using the type of analysis being described. The analytical approach is valid. If you’re going to cheat, this is how you do it. As long as some place in the chain you have a digital system you have a vulnerability. If the pattern appears, at any level, you know what to confiscate and investigate. I have zero doubt that Team Obama and the DoJ understand the issues, but it never hurts to let them know we are paying attention, thus the two tweets above.

Repub conservatives are all tripping over themselves about Powell’s endorsement of a President Obama second term. According to them, Powell only did it because he is Black, but racist white Repubs voting for Romney because they hate the idea of a Black man in the White House? Explain to me why whites are not voting for Romney because he is WHITE, and as he has said – taking THEIR country back. The overt racism from this party is unbelievable which explains the “GOP enthusiasm”and the return of Jim Crow voter suppression. Have you seen that insiped grin Romney has fixed on his face? He knows that no matter how much he screws up, whites will vote for him just because he is white.

    • October 26, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Rush Limbaugh said the exact same thing in 2008 when Gen. Powell endorsed then Sen. Obama. Same shit, different day. It is understandable for a racist to think everybody views things through a racial prism. Everytime I hear something like this, I think about that black reporter who was fired for saying Mitt seems more comfortable around fellow whites. In the current MSM only minorities are racists and white men are victims. As an African-American, I have to say that the current racial climate in this country, my country, is very troubling. It is truly sad that a large portion of our country will vote for a known and proven bullshit artist just because he is white.

      • 102 EricFive
        October 26, 2012 at 3:10 pm

This “Mitt is surging” is the 2012 version of 2008′s “good news for John McCain”. The polls are all undercounting PBO’s support by using highly questionable “likely voter” screens which take 5-7% from PBO’s support (PBO’s lead among registered voters is pretty strong). This is done on purpose to feed the “Mitt is surging” narrative.

The night prior to Trump’s appearance, Letterman called Trump a racist. Trump threatened to cancel his appearance, so Letterman called Trump to apologize. No doubt Letterman had some push back from his bosses, so he tried to make nice with Trump. Letterman did point out Trump’s hypocricy concerning China, by pointing out Trump’s clothing line is all made in China and Malaysia. Letterman’s discomfort during the interview with Trump was very apparent.

    [Repeat Incompetence]:

Today, the GOP candidate will deliver a speech on the economy, condemning President Obama’s Recovery Act at a business that was helped by President Obama’s Recovery Act.

The owner of an Iowa construction company where Mitt Romney will deliver a speech on the economy received stimulus funds, according to the government’s web site that tracks expenditures from the federal program.

Yes, Kinzler Construction Services received a $1.25 million Small Business Administration loan through the stimulus, on top of $650,000 in Obama administration grants and a $40,000 government contract to renovate a government building.

In other words, Romney will condemn the efficacy of the stimulus at a private business that benefited from the stimulus. Shouldn’t that undermine Romney’s credibility a bit?

  37. October 26, 2012 at 2:10 pm

President Obama took a pass on criticizing former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu’s assertion that Gen. Colin Powell’s endorsement of the president was racially motivated, saying simply that Sununu didn’t “make much sense.”

“I don’t think that there are many people in America who would question General Powell’s credibility, his patriotism, his willingness to tell it straight,” Obama said in a Friday interview with radio host Michael Smerconish.

“So any suggestion that General Powell would make such a profound statement in such an in such an important election based on anything than what he thought was going to be best for american, I think, doesn’t make much sense,” Obama said.

Sununu said in a CNN interview Thursday that Powell might have backed Obama for “other reasons.”

Pressed on what those reasons might be, Sununu said: “I think when you have somebody of your own race that you’re proud of being President of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him.”

Sununu — a top Mitt Romney surrogate — later backed away from those remarks in a statement that said he did not doubt that the endorsement was based on “anything but his support for the president’s policies.”

“I’ll let General Powell’s statements stand for themselves,” Obama told Smerconish. Powell “spoke about the fact that my foreign policy during very difficult time has been steady and strong.”

    • October 26, 2012 at 2:14 pm

      And…

President Obama blasted critics of his foreign policy in a Friday interview, saying that his administration has been able to decimate terrorist networks without a lot of “saber-rattling” and “chest-thumping.”

“One of the interesting things that I think we’ve been able to achieve on foreign policy is that we have taken the fight to the terrorists,” Obama said in an interview with radio host Michael Smerconish.

“You notice that you have not seen the kind of international objection and outcry that you saw in previous administration,” Obama said. “The reasons is that we don’t go around thumping our chest about it.”

“We seek cooperation with other countries whenever we can. We do it in a careful, methodical systematic way,” Obama said. “What this shows, I think, is a smart, strong steady foreign policy is different than a lot of saber rattling and chest thumping.”

Obama acknowledged that the attacks on the consulate in Benghazi — as well as militant groups across the Middle East and North Africa — still remained a threat to American interests. But he said that he has managed to keep the U.S. safe from another terrorist attack by targeting terrorist networks and killing their leadership.

“What we’ve done is really crippled their capacity to carry out homeland attacks,” Obama said.

But “there are groups throughout the Middle East and African who aspire to jihad and terrorist acts,” Obama said. “We’re still going to have to deal with groups.”

Some PBO supporters are inclined to freak out when a nat. tracking poll looks bad one day, good the next. Well, folks, let’s be reminded that we don’t have a national election. We have state elections. And truly only a handful of states are in play. And that election is being won right now with each passing day, as PBO piles up greater and greater margins with the early vote in NV, Iowa, and OH in particular where the trends are making a victory for the President a greater and greater inevitability. So, the advice we are getting, is avoid the freakout, vote where you are and help get out the vote, and ignore the media hype about “likely voters” when real voters are on the ground determining the outcome of this election.

    [FLOTUS at yesterday's fundraiser]:

“What I tell folks is that although Barack is handsome, as some would say he’s fine–charming, incredibly smart, that’s really not why I married him,” Mrs. Obama said to laughter.

“Absolutely not why I married him. What truly made me fall in love with Barack was his character. It is something we have watched for four years now. We have seen his decency and his honesty, his compassion and his conviction, and that’s the man I have always known.”

On Friday, Mrs. Obama travels to La Jolla, CA for a fundraiser hosted by Irwin Jacobs, the billionare co-founder of Qualcomm, and his wife Joan.

The White House, it should be noted, can choose any reporter to do pooling, and the reporter selected was from a local Hispanic newspaper. That voting bloc is crucial to Mr. Obama’s re-election.

I am happy FLOTUS is coming to my neighborhood. I didn’t know the Jacobs supported President Obama. Qualcomm is really big here in San Diego.

    Chronicling Mitt’s Mendacity, Vol. XL

    By Steve Benen

    ——————————-

A joke made the rounds this week, which resonated with me. It goes like this: a man dies, goes to heaven, stands before St. Peter, and see a huge wall of clocks. The man asks what all the clocks are for and St. Peter explains, “These are lie clocks. Everyone on earth has a lie clock. Every time a person lies, the clock hands move.”

Pointing to one, the man says, “Whose clock is that?”

“That’s Mother Teresa’s,” St. Peter answers. “The hands have never moved, indicating she never told a lie.”

“Incredible,” the man responds. “And whose clock is that?”

St. Peter responds, “That’s Abraham Lincoln’s. The hands moved twice telling us he told two lies in his entire life.”

“Where is Mitt Romney’s clock?” the man asks.

“Romney’s clock is in Jesus’ office,” St. Peter says. “He’s using it as a ceiling fan.”

It’s obviously just a joke, but it reinforces an increasingly common observation about Romney’s casual relationship with the truth. Consider, for example, the 40th installment of my weekly series, chronicling Mitt’s mendacity.

    [POTUS]:

Speaking to reporters as he flew back to Washington after his final event, a massive rally on the tarmac at Cleveland’s airport, the President said he had fun–and he especially liked his “OTRs,” the “unscheduled” stops he made at a pizzeria, a donut store, and a Vegas cafeteria. (Above: In Cleveland)

Visiting the press cabin aboard Air Force One shortly after take off, the President quipped that he had so much fun he would have continued his tour through Friday.

“I’m ready for more but the Secret Service is running out of assets,” he joked. “So we’re going to have to let them regroup before we go at it again.”
