GREEN TOMATOES! I just picked 40+ lbs of green tomatoes to store and ripen inside because we’re supposed to get our first freeze tonight here in Albuquerque. Then in a couple of days we’re back to highs of 70. I know STFU!

mmmm fry me up some and send them via cyberspace. I grew one plant in a large flower pot, but forgot about it. I had placed behind a bush that grew and blocked it from view. When I went out this pass week-end to ready the yard for the winter, I spotted it. There were two anemic little tomatoes dangling from a wilted vine. There was a larger one that had been eaten on by critters large and small. So no fried green tomatoes for me. Love those things.

Most of what I picked are small, sauce-worthy things. But I have a few big one’s and I’d love to skillet fry and have you over!! (Umm… I don’t really know how to do it, so with some beverages would you show us?)

They’re quite easy. I just salt/pepper sliced tomato, then coat them with cornmeal (my preference), though some folks use flour. Then fry ‘em up in a pan of some hot oil, flipping once so each side is nicely browned. Eat them while they’re hot. yummy.

So true, I noticed this as well, and am proud that we are a diverse country just like the U.S. It’s just very sad that hateful people are still in our midst today. This gentleman sends a perfect message to those that are so unkind and so skewed by the american media and its counterparts. But on that note, I feel, and know, the best of humanity will always prevail, and it’s so nice seeing that you have the best leader to guide you in this manner. He brings out the best in a person, Mr. Barack Obama and the First Lady. You all should be so proud. :)

    Hello TOD family,

For the last few weeks, we’ve been planning our Saturday canvass in New Hampshire. Two of my towns are assigned to canvassing in Nashua and tomorrow morning an excited crew of 16 volunteers will meet up early in the morning and carpool to Nashua. We will canvass for about 90 minutes and then head over to the Elm Street Middle School to welcome President Obama! I am so lucky to have that opportunity again. Only one other woman in our group has been to an Obama event before. Everyone is fired up and ready to go! This time of year, in 2008, I was bragging about going to “Blue Hampshire” and now it is beginning to feel like that again. The votes are there – we just have to push as hard as we can to get the voters to the polls.
President Obama will make his case one more time, and I am confident that New Hampshire will stay blue.

Rachel Ray’s a Democrat through and through. Ann carried on about feeding her family CURRENTLY on a ‘budget’ by shopping at Costco.

There is something so offensive about a gazillionaire thinking the humanize themselves by showing how cheap they are. Ann Romney pinching pennies last week to feed her family is insulting to people who really have to pinch pennies in order to truly feed their family.

Mitt being cheap is not humanizing — it’s insulting to everyone who really can’t afford to feed their families.

      I loathe them.

      • 153 busbus

Penny-pinching on food contradicts the $900.00 tie shirt she wore in one of her interviews with Mitt, the Oscar de L…. outfit she wore to one of the debates, the horse and horse’s feed and care, the two caddies, car elevators, etc. Does she think that this “sales-pitch” doesn’t stink to the heavens? Ms. Ann is out of her mind if she thinks that she is fooling anyone with a brain!

I wonder, do the Romneys have shares in Costco? She is certainly advertising for them.

          October 26, 2012 at 11:49 pm

Good to know she is on recovery. One thing about antibiotics is you have to take the whole course of meds even if the symptoms are gone. I am sure she knows as that a nurse.

          Convey my regards to her.

          • October 26, 2012 at 11:51 pm

Oh, the reason she’s staying in hospital is because the meds are IV. Apparently intravenous antibiotics are more effective than orally. So she’s there until they reach a therapeutic level of antibiotics and then the infection is gone.

Silver compared Gallup to the the 5th dentist in the 4 out of 5 dentist recommends commercials. He also said Willard’s momentum stopped more than a week ago, but the media is playing up the momentum angle for ratings.”

I will be sending a letter to ABC to tell them how irresponsible they were to publicize this hateful group’s racist and anti-Obama propaganda two weeks before an election, with virtually NO pushback on the paranoid vitriol that was expressed by that Klansman.

        • 175 anniebella
          October 27, 2012 at 8:03 am

hopefruit2, I hope you do send ABC a letter, I think I will contact them also. In my opinion the new KKK is walking around in the Republican Party, Limbaugh, Coulter, Palin, Fox, Sununu, Walsh, the Tea Party, and others I haven’t name.

      • 176 hopefruit2
        October 27, 2012 at 12:07 am

I don’t think ABC news would have EVER given a group such as the Black Panthers any kind of free publicity to rant about GWB or any white president without some serious pushback.

    • 178 Jeff
      October 27, 2012 at 12:04 am

just the usual media antics. Trying to blame the president for something that PBO is not responsible for.

      • 179 hopefruit2
        October 27, 2012 at 12:12 am

But this is dangerous. This armed Klansman was given free reign to articulate his violent hate-filled rants about getting rid of blacks, Jews and other non-white races with violent means if necessary. He was also pushing some very paranoid ideation about PBO hating Americans and America and starting a war if he gets re-elected.

This wasn’t a private interview – this was on national TV.

    • 182 Mary Jones
      October 27, 2012 at 12:51 am

Although I saw some preview clips, II didn’t see it so I don’t know if it is sensationalized, but I don’t see how them linking the rise of the Klan to PBO’s election is racist or blaming PBO. We’ve all said many times that the election of a black man has brought out the virulent hatred some harbor below the surface. As far as giving them publicity, unless they are really glamorizing them, maybe making people more aware of this is a good thing. The Klan is not beloved by most of the country. The people who want join or who glorify them know about them already. Perhaps it’s a good thing that other people are aware of what their careless, hate-filled talk produces.

      • October 27, 2012 at 1:01 am

Airing this hate group’s propaganda in which the President is the primary object of its hateful paranoid thoughts two weeks before a Presidential election is irresponsible. ABC did not expose the klansman’s ranting as paranoid or hateful. They simply let him rant – there was no push back on his assertion that if PBO got elected, he would put whites in concentration camps and start war because he hates Americans and America. ABC interviewer could have simply said, well he’s been President for four years, and he hasn’t done any such thing. But they didn’t say any of the sort. They just let this guy express all his violent paranoid beliefs unchallenged.

And to illustrate my point further, ABC news would have NEVER interviewed a group such as the Black Panthers and allowed them to rant about a white president two weeks before a major election.

        • October 27, 2012 at 1:28 am

Well that does sound irresponsible-more sensational than a real documentary or expose’. We can only hope that most people seeing it will recognize it for the extremist garbage it is.

        • October 27, 2012 at 8:13 am

I understand what you’re saying and agree with your outrage but I would make the point that the Black Panthers are not equivalent to the KKK in the big picture.

        • 186 EDP4BHO
          October 27, 2012 at 9:55 am

Agree with you hopefruit. Some will take this as a reason to “protect” PBO from harm, so to speak. Others will fear a revolt, endangering everyday life and want to prevent such, so they’d rather “keep the peace” and not re-elect him. Thoughts like these have been stated across the nets for a while. It takes very brave and determined, sensible and caring people to stand up to this propoganda. ABC has been in the tank for rethugs from the get-go.

I also notice my progressive radio station has ABC News on the hour and half hour. They always give Mitt the advantage and aim all of the growth news as negative. It seems so obvious that they are skewed to the right. I wonder who is their corporate owner?

Chipsticks, talk to me about the Forward video. Do we know if the Obama campaign will buy ad time to show this. I think this is so positive and so refreshing and there are some undecideds out there who want to be inspired…they want to believe and keep hoping. I think this video could speak to people. Music does have a way of moving us. YouTube is great and all, but I hope that average folks will see it on their televisions.

Good Evening all: 7 hours before I get to vote. I am still undecided….

    .
    .
    .

    .
about which poll location to use….hahahah. My mind was made up way back in 2008. I knew I would vote for that man twice. I am so excited that I can’t sleep. I am shooting for the first in line to caste my vote. I want to get there by 6AM. Our ballot is pretty long but I have my answers, lunch bag packed just in case.

Chips, everyone …. really important information about the #FORWARD video from the website that they launched today (26 Oct 2012):

“FEATURING NE YO, HERBIE HANCOCK, JOHNNY RZEZNIK, DELTA RAE, NATASHA BEDINGFIELD
THE FORWARD SONG PROJECT IS A 100% GRASSROOTS EFFORT AND REPRESENTS THE BEST OF WHAT AMERICAN DEMOCRACY IS ALL ABOUT: People voluntarily coming together AND LENDING THEIR time, talents, SERVICES AND SUPPORT BEHIND A CAUSE THEY TRULY FEEL PASSIONATE ABOUT.

IT IS NOT A PAC OR SUPERPAC, AND IT WAS NOT FUNDED IN ANY WAY BY, NOR WAS IT PRODUCED at the request of or in Coordination or consultation with, THE OBAMA FOR AMERICA PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN OR ANY PAC OR SUPERPAC. We just went out and did this all by ourselves, and all on our own.”

The party that doubled down in support of Akin, Mourdock, Vitter and Limbaugh is clutching their pearls about this video. They are so tiresome.

I hope their poutrage ends up sending more eyeballs to this video urging young people to vote.

  55. October 27, 2012 at 4:03 am

There is a terrific article at DK titled “I don’t expect to see another democratic candidate like Barack Obama in my lifetime” http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/26/1150931/-I-don-t-expect-to-see-another-democratic-candidate-like-Barack-Obama-in-my-lifetime

The comments underneath are also stunning, I copied one of them below because I truly feel the same way. This Presidency is not the end for Barack Obama, he is much more than the Office and whatever he and Michelle decide after 2016, the world awaits him with open arms.

    ——
i think the presidency is actually act one on the (5+ / 0-)

    global stage for barack obama.

the tendency is to see the presidency as the pinnacle, the apex of achievement, but in this age i think that is narrow parochialism. i think his ‘greatest greatness’, if you will, will come after the presidency. he’s got something more in him than just the presidency.

if it’s something like heading the u.n., he will turn that institution into a powerhouse. if it’s something else, it will be on a global and transformative level.

but the presidency is far from being the final stop for this man.

He is going to be a hard act to follow for sure. I’ve said to my husband many times that this President is going down as the best President in the history of the U.S. His legacy will teach future Presidents, there is no doubt!

    GOOD morning, TODville.

The campaign jitters have officially set in!! I’m confident in my POTUS and in our great team and especially our OFA warriors on the ground but I have that familiar inability to focus on anything else!! My sleep is light and my mind is on one-track. FORWARD.

Never played Angry Birds, but the Obama Quick Donate button has gotten quite a workout. I will not even think about my total until I get the official letter from the campaign. Like a lot of others, I hit the pre-nomination limit, and am now working on the post nomination total. We MUST win this. I also answer the calls from several others…..Sherrod Brown, particularly whose election is NECESSARY!!! I was born in Ohio and cannot even consider that other guy beating wonderful Sherrod.

Okay…Just got home from Voting in Palm Beach County Florida. I took two people with me this morning. We waited 2 hours to vote and were there before the polls opened. I waited with about 150 like minded supporters. This is the SMALL group in the bigger line. We even had a Senior with a walker that refused to go ahead of the line and sit because she wanted to PARTY with us. I have her my “Women will Remember in November ” button and got a huge hug. We all saw each other on the way out of the polls and gave each other hugs. Now mind you…I never met these people before.

    Don’t count Florida OUT!!
