Thank you Jaznote – your five-year-old son is the cutest ever!
Gotta love it. Even in the reddest of red states people are psyched about voting. #11 More Days!!
Hello TOD, another day closer to the re-election of PBO.
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks and TOD family!!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Forward video!
Happy belated Birthday desertflower – I hope it was MARVELOUS!!!
Did I miss your BD Desertflower? I am sooooo sorry. Happy Birthday and many many more. ((((((hugs)))).
I have been waiting, patiently, checking and twisting my fingers. I left for a cup of H20 and low and behold, a New Post and i missed it.
Congratulations Melanie on being First.
Congrats Melanie on First! I didn’t see who made it when I left my comment :-)
what happened?…where did JT go?

You’re welcome GGail!!
Just checking in.
Hello family peeps. A short update on wifey.
They drew her blood at around 8 a.m. to see if the antibiotics are working. Still waiting to hear back on that. Other than that, she’s spent the morning sleeping. I’m having breakfast and taking a shower and then off to the hospital.
It’s great to read all the goodies here. They keep my spirits up. Especially Jovie’s reports from canvassing; FL is going to go blue!
And Jesus, Wayne Rooney is an Obot?! Does this mean I have to stop making fun of the hedgehog on his head? :-(
They drew her blood
This a hospital or a vampire bar ?
Wayne Rooney is an Obot?! Does this mean I have to stop making fun of the hedgehog on his head?
You betcha. Also. Too.
“And Jesus, Wayne Rooney is an Obot?! Does this mean I have to stop making fun of the hedgehog on his head?”
Thinking of you and your wife, LL.
Don’t push it.
Keeping you both in my thoughts, LL.
Now I know for sure I have missed far too much…. Thoughts with you LL, and Japa, with your family as well.
LL glad to hear your wife came through surgery OK. Prayers to you both. (((((((hugs)))))). I really think Florida will go blue also.
Oh, no no, not surgery. She has a nasty e. coli infection. She’s been in hospital since Thursday night.
LL tell her we love her. (((((( Lots of great thoughts coming her way))))))))HZ
The “Let My People Vote” poster is incredibly powerful.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS….love that pic
“He raises fees for birth certificates! That would have been expensive for ME!”
PBO never cease to amaze me. I love that he is sticking it to Robney on his MA record.
This man is is bringing this home. Big time.
President Obama sure can FIRE me UP!
It’s so powerful for me to hear him ask for people’s votes.
WHOOOO HOOOOOOO He tapped the podium!!!!!
Three times!!!
Can I say HOW MUCH I LOVE PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!
And Chipsticks too
I’m in line to vote. It’s a two hour wait with lines around the building.
I’m sure it’s worth it Ck! Have handed out 100 stickers this morning, in rolls of 10. Love to see folks light up when I give them campaign gear… Everyone today, accepting stickers reported already have voted for Obama~Biden. Some are worried, but keeping the faith! Let them hand out stickers later on, they will feel fired up and it will make a difference!
Ok, one more update.
Wife just called. She has an e. coli infection. WTF?! She eats the same stuff I do! So, she’s there for at least another night while arrangements are made for home health, since she’ll have to have a pick line inserted in her arm and receive IV antibiotics for the next two weeks. She is not a happy camper. But they said she’d be able to go to work.
Thanks LL for the updates. Make sure Mrs. LL follows Doctors’ Orders :-)
YIKES! She needs to follow her Dr’s orders, TO A TEE. Even when she starts to feel better….If Bobfr was here I bet the good Dr. would say the same! Give her a hug for us.
I am sorry, LL. Pick lines does not make a happy camper.
Didn’t you mention that this all started with some cat bite/scratch ? (correct me if I am wrong). Time to get rid of the cats ?
No,no,had nothing to do with cats or the dog. Probably from something she ate.
LL, sorry to hear about your wife! Everything will be fine!
I’m so sorry LL but so glad she got to the hospital when she did. There is some e.coli in all of our intestinal systems. The fact that hers turned into an infection when you are eating the same things may be just a difference in how each of your immune systems are dealing with it at any point in time. While her road ahead is not pleasant for the next couple of weeks it could have been so much worse if it had gone unchecked. Take care of yourself as well!
LL, I’m a Medical Technologist specializing in Microbiology. You may have already said this, but is the E coil infection in stool, urine, or blood? it makes a difference when it comes to treatment.
for the most part, Ecoli is considered to be normal enteric flora in stool, unless its a more virulent strain called E. coli O157:H7, in that case it’s still treatable, but the antibiotics used are not the usual cascade of take home oral meds. Alot of times in those cases the drug need to be administered intravenously (IV).
E. coli isn’t usually considered normal urogenital flora, so an increase of E. coli from urine culture is considered an urinary infection, but when we eat something that doesn’t agree with us, we can also shed Enteric organisms into urine.
The good thing is unless the bug has special resistance, treatment of infection is fairly simple as administering antibiotic strong enough to kill infectious organism but keep normal flora intact.
In the case of sepsis (I.e. bacteria in the blood) it’s a little different. because obviously, blood should be sterile (urine also, but I like blood, urine does have normal flora that can be found in culture). Blood culture can have skincontamination, but Gram negative rods (like E. coli) are always considered an infection and are treated more seriously. the antibiotics are rarely oral and for the most part the hospital will keep the patient in the hospital while they administer IV drugs and clear out the blood pathogen. as long as the bug isn’t an unusually resistant strain, it means longer stays in hospital or under nurse care than. usual.
TMI, I know, but I love my field and can talk about it all day…Sorry.
good thought coming ur way for. ur wife.
dang one sentence should say “unlike blood urine has normal flora…”
It is a blood infection. She’s going to be sent home with a pick line and a home health nurse will be administering IV antibiotics for 2 weeks. The wife is not a happy camper, but it’s better than being stuck in a hospital for 2 weeks. Fortunately she’s a nurse, so she knows what’s in store.
LL, (((((((((She is being surrounded with goodness in spirits)))))))))) I hope for a very special and caring nurse to also be with her these next two weeks.HZ
Here’s the link for where that powerful “Let My People Vote” poster the woman is holding, came from.
http://www.lifelinestohealing.org/projects/let-my-people-vote We need them to sell these…I haven’t checked around the website, but that is some powerful image!
That was a fantastic speech. 3 podium slaps! Love how at the end of the speech, Pres. Obama left the stage singing and dancing to “Signed, Sealed Delivered.”
He is PUMPED.
New Hampshire may be a small state, but 8,500 people showed up at Pres. Obama's #AmericaForward rally in Nashua.— (@utaustinliberal) October 27, 2012
Nashua is also very near the Massachusetts border, so I know some Bay Staters took the opportunity to see him. In fact, a friend of mine from Boston was there along with his young son! They had a great time!

Philadelphia Inquirer poll: Obama up 6 in Pa.
By EMILY SCHULTHEIS | 10/27/12 10:46 AM
The Philadelphia Inquirer’s poll this morning gives the latest picture of the state of the race in Pennsylvania, one that still favors President Obama.
This is one of the best Saturday’s I’ve had in a long time……at home with Chipsticks, TOD family and President Obama!
It doesn’t get better than this :-)
My sentiments exactly Gail.
Did you all see Joe Scarbrough in the crowd? I assume he is waiting to interview PBO.
I knew I saw him…thought I was crazy….acted happy like he was having a good time…looked as if he was with some young boys/men????
He is just now walking through the doors to leave and it appears that EVERYONE stayed to wave and clap Good-bye to Mr. President!
THREE surefire podium slaps and OUT!!!!
Did you guys see Morning Joe and Mika in the crowd? I hope they were taking notes because he looked kinda blown away by it all. To witness his speech and see and feel the absolute adoration of PBO is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!!!!
You’re right meta – the feeling of being in the crowd is indescrible, but when you can’t be there in person, we have our wonderful Chipsticks to provide us “front row seating” :-)
Maybe, if they are lucky, they’ll wake up tomorrow ‘born-again’, and realize it not too late to join the most incredible time in our history since, well, since FOREVER! :)
If anyone tells you Pres. Obama can't run on his record; smile and show them this. youtu.be/I1vUKT_l_0g— (@utaustinliberal) October 27, 2012
I hear Joe and Mika were in the NH crowd. Was puzzled at first, then I realized they’re interviewing him for their Monday show. Bet it burned Joe to see the huge turn out and enthusiasm for Pres. Obama.
I saw Joe in the crowd, but I did not see Mika.
Joe looked pretty blown away. He and Mika were toward the front at the end of the rope line and they were being squished hard by all the people surging forward to shake PBO’s hand and give him hugs. He just witnessed the greatest POTUS EVAH and I bet he’s eaten up inside. BRING IT!!
Someone need to ask that punk ass Luke Russert why is Mitt and Ryan hiding from the media? Since he was so concern about POTUS taking Sunday off. I’m sure Richard Murdoch, the guy from Indiana who is running for the Senate has something to do with them hiding from the media. A bunch of lying cowards.

I missed PBO in NH. How’s his voice holding out?
Starting to sound a little raspy again because he was very, very passionate in making his points!! He looks terrific and I felt a tinge at the thought that we are witness PBO’s last days of campaigning. What a historic era for all of us!!!!
Thanks meta. Yes, it’s bittersweet. (((((Obots)))))))
Yes PJ. That’s how I’ve been feeling lately. Love my Prez.
We won’t know what to do with ourselves, lol. Love him! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
This!!!! I thought he was going to mention the latest big lie Willard told about Chrysler, but I have a feeling he is saving that for later. :)
Maybe for when he goes to Ohio again. He has a knack for timing.
PJ you missed a real treat but I am sure Chips will post it later. :)
Thanks COS. Can’t wait to check it out! How are the Obama Volumes coming? :-D
The media is trying to scare everybody about the Hurricane.
They are not concerned with Peoples lives, only how it will effect the Election.
not surprised in the least. The media is more than happy to sell this as an election damper at the expense of peoples lives.
This is what they are going to use when Mitt Romney loses!
Oh, it was the weather, Oh it was Sandy! Nothing about voters not liking THEIR lying candidate!
Chiptsitks I left a post yesterday but it never got approved by the moderator its a new video better thant “FORWARD” it is inspired by the hastag from OFA #forall by the Far East Movement w/ lots of celebrities and regular citizens w/ PBO and DNC convention please pass it along thnx
Thank you, loved the video! Sorry your comment didn’t get through, we’re being infested by trolls these days – wonder why? :-)
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen. The song is so hopeful. Thanks.
LOVE, love, love this. Thank you!!
The Obama administration will soon take on a new role as the sponsor of at least two nationwide health insurance plans to be operated under contract with the federal government and offered to consumers in every state.
Times Topics: Health Insurance and Managed Care | Health Care Reform
These multistate plans were included in President Obama’s health care law as a substitute for a pure government-run health insurance program — the public option sought by many liberal Democrats and reviled by Republicans. Supporters of the national plans say they will increase competition in state health insurance markets, many of which are dominated by a handful of companies.
The national plans will compete directly with other private insurers and may have some significant advantages, including a federal seal of approval. Premiums and benefits for the multistate insurance plans will be negotiated by the United States Office of Personnel Management, the agency that arranges health benefits for federal employees.
Walton J. Francis, the author of a consumer guide to health plans for federal employees, said the personnel agency had been “extraordinarily successful” in managing that program, which has more than 200 health plans, including about 20 offered nationwide. The personnel agency has earned high marks for its ability to secure good terms for federal workers through negotiation rather than heavy-handed regulation of insurers.
John J. O’Brien, the director of health care and insurance at the agency, said the new plans would be offered to individuals and small employers through the insurance exchanges being set up in every state under the 2010 health care law.
Just when I thought this day couldn’t get any better….. oh, thank you Desertflower!!!!

Got a call few minutes ago confirming my time tomorrow for calling NC. The lady who called said that she was so discouraged when she walked in the condo this morning because of what she had heard about the polls in NC. HOWEVER, she said “our internals are showing we have a very good, repeat very good chance of winning NC.”
Just had to share that. :) btw, notice I said “condo.” We have someone who donated this condo for the OFA to use during the last 4-5 weeks. How awesome is that…..and in this very red area??!!!
Great news Im headed out to canvass tomorrow. again.

Hi! LL. I hope your wife is feeling better. Sending you love and healing energy!
Glad you’re with us, LL and hoping each day will find your wife improving.
Thanks Bob, wife has a question for you. Do pick lines hurt? She’s going to be sent home with one inserted.
Typically not. They will explain all the issues about how to be sure it is functioning correctly and any sign of infection or other issues. Just be sure she and you understand exactly what they are telling you and ask any questions you have and don’t be the least bit hesitant to contact them if she has any difficulty with it.
Oh good. She’s a nurse, so she knows what to look for as far as infection goes. She was just worried about the actual insertion.
If it’s done by an experienced nurse, it should be minimally painful.
BTW, LL that ‘nurse’ is generic for whatever member of the care provider team the particular hospital she’s in have insert the device. It’s not something novices are assigned to do.

This new daily Los diary on early voting in NC is slightly wrong.
It says we are just barely doing better than 08.
Not true. In 08, we had 22% AA vote, now it’s 29%!
And he has us up 52-47 in early voting there,
And about 135k votes more, judging by his calculations.
I think it’s north of 150k, but we still have more early vote to go.
Watched a little of Melissa Harris Perry which was a statement to the likes of Mordouch. She touched upon the fact that she was a sexual assault survivor. It was very touching.
Yes, very difficult to listen to.
Question for y’all and I apologize if it is a stupid question, but I can’t figure out the answer so I am going to ask. (I always told my students that no question was stupid/dumb if the answer is truly unknown.) The tweet about 1/3 of the votes in Iowa being cast and 67% are for PO–how exactly is it KNOWN that 67% are for PO?
I believe that it’s because they’ve been counted already:) That’s why we HAVE early voting….so those votes can be banked and counted and the only ones left to tally, are the votes from that day.
Thanks, df. I thought that must be the case, but then I questioned myself.
That doesn’t sound right to me. I think that figure comes from polling people who claim they’ve voted. I don’t think anyone is allowed to release actual voting tallies until after the polls close on 11/6.

Just want to say a big ‘Thank You’ to all who are fighting the good fight. Working tirelessly for/with PBO. I believe PBO will win big and his second term will be even more awesome than his first! I sooooo wish I could go to Chicago on Nov 6th to be amongst the crowd wherever PBO will have his gathering (Grant Park on election night 4 years ago???) but instead I signed up for an orientation for volunteers for a christmas toy drive with one of the children’s organization here, and it so happened that it fell on Nov 6th (arrrrgggghhh). Thank god it should be over at 8pm.
Right after that I might head over to my friend’s and we’ll both be glued to the tv, yell at the gop and idiot pundits on tv, and squeal with delight when they announce PBO as winner … I can hardly wait (not to mention catch up on my sleep) … LOL… :)

Though President Obama isn’t due in Florida until Sunday night for a Monday rally — he’s leaving Washington early to avoid the brunt of Hurricane Sandy — several high profile celebrities and political figures are spending the weekend firing up volunteers and encouraging Obama supporters to take advantage of early voting, as local news reports and photos show long lines at polling places across the state.
Actress Eva Longoria, a national campaign co-chair, is spending the weekend visiting campaign offices throughout South Florida as volunteers kick off early voting canvassing. Hill Harper, the “CSI: NY” actor and law school friend of Obama’s, spent Saturday at early vote and canvassing kickoffs across Miami.
“Fresh Prince of Bel Air” star Tatyana Ali is hosting events including a Sunday barbeque in Daytona Beach, while model and “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi will be at a Sunday brunch for women in Tampa. Also on hand this weekend: actor Laurence Fishburne, actresses Lynn Whitfield and Adrienne Bailon, and former BET host AJ Calloway.
U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk — in his personal, not official, capacity — is attending several events including a meeting for faith-based stakeholders and ministers. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, former Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) and Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.) are also campaigning for Obama in Florida this weekend. Two Floridians, DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, spent part of Saturday at a DNC bus tour stop in Tampa.

“In the end, Mr. Obama’s policies across the board — the environment, social policy, taxes and immigration — offer a more generous vision for America. The issues he has fought for, coupled with the lingering doubts about Mr. Romney’s persona and his true intentions, make this a clear choice. In the race for president, The Miami Herald recommends BARACK OBAMA.”

Pollsters know nothing. Their predictions are based on nothing. They exist solely to make astrologers and economic forecasters look good.— Robert Reich (@RBReich) October 27, 2012
Now if he’d said that about pundits, I would have retweeted it.

Just finished canvassing (11-4) and my feet and legs really hurt! It was great though. Started off rough but got much better. I was tempted to not finish my area I was so tired, but I thought about how tired our President must be and how Every conversation can make a difference. So I marched on and yep, next door was an undecided. We talked for a very long time and I eventually said “one last thing-Ryan has no foreign policy experience and he is not fit to be CIC!” He said, “Uhm, yeah you’re right. I hadn’t thought of that!” The most surprising thing is that he is really frustrated over jobs going to china because he had lost his to china a couple of years ago. AND, he is back in school getting a Bachelors in business and is mad about the cost of the loans!” I couldn’t believe it! I told him to go look up Bain, Freeport, IL and go to barackobama.com to see how Obama was his guy and Ronmey was NOT! I told him don’t trust me, read for yourself. He responded, don’t sell yourself short- I trust you, a working class person, more than the folks on TV. I was definetly surprised. Anyway, I gave him an Obama Biden pin for him to wear in case he decided on them once he looked up the facts.
Long story I know, but it just amazed me. Also, one lady said “she just doesnt vote!”. As we talked she said she supported Obama if she would vote!!! UNBELIEVABLE! When we left I had convinced her to vote. I told her the only way things will change is if she gets involved and has a voice. When we finished she was excited about voting….anyway, TOD family, this is why we are going to win! Cause there were thousands of me on the phone and in neighborhoods TODAY having the same conversations!! Last thing, as I was going to one home, the lady was leaving to go phone bank for Obama!
SUCH a great job, Robin!!! Thanks for all your hard work. Take the rest of the day off :) You deserve it…tomorrow, we all go again!
Thanks DF and I hope you had a good birthday:)
Bless you for all that you’re doing!
Robin, what you accomplished today is what will save our United States. That is not hyperbole. That is ground truth.
