Interesting take in that tweet, meant to slap somebody upside the head, wake somebody up, I’m sure. If it were only that easy.

Well, of course, it’s harmful, but we all have the free will as adults to not choose a path of destruction. And when people choose to be racist, and suffer the consequences, that’s kinda like karma hitting them in the face, over and over again. Too bad they’re too blinded to notice it’s self-inflicted, not to mention what it does to all of their victims.

We Americans and the World are awfully fortunate that these two marvelous people decided to sacrifice their private lives to make America a better place.

The best we can say “Thank you Barack & Michelle for your Service” is to re-elect him to 4 More Years!

Reposting from last thread….in case someone needs inspiration (unlikely for regular posters, but maybe some readers)
Just finished canvassing (11-4) and my feet and legs really hurt! It was great though. Started off rough but got much better. I was tempted to not finish my area I was so tired, but I thought about how tired our President must be and how Every conversation can make a difference. So I marched on and yep, next door was an undecided. We talked for a very long time and I eventually said “one last thing-Ryan has no foreign policy experience and he is not fit to be CIC!” He said, “Uhm, yeah you’re right. I hadn’t thought of that!” The most surprising thing is that he is really frustrated over jobs going to china because he had lost his to china a couple of years ago. AND, he is back in school getting a Bachelors in business and is mad about the cost of the loans!” I couldn’t believe it! I told him to go look up Bain, Freeport, IL and go to barackobama.com to see how Obama was his guy and Ronmey was NOT! I told him don’t trust me, read for yourself. He responded, don’t sell yourself short- I trust you, a working class person, more than the folks on TV. I was definetly surprised. Anyway, I gave him an Obama Biden pin for him to wear in case he decided on them once he looked up the facts.
Long story I know, but it just amazed me. Also, one lady said “she just doesnt vote!”. As we talked she said she supported Obama if she would vote!!! UNBELIEVABLE! When we left I had convinced her to vote. I told her the only way things will change is if she gets involved and has a voice. When we finished she was excited about voting….anyway, TOD family, this is why we are going to win! Cause there were thousands of me on the phone and in neighborhoods TODAY having the same conversations!! Last thing, as I was going to one home, the lady was leaving to go phone bank for Obama!

17 early voting sites in my part of NE Fla. (15 libraries and 2 Elections offices). I went to a library near my home just before 2:00. I was told that the wait would be about 45 minutes, but it was more like 30-35 minutes. No lines outside, but the coming and going was brisk. However there were longer lines in other parts of town. I rocked out to tunes on my Ipod and people watched while I waited. Poeple in wheel charis and with canes, some assisted by adult children, families with small kids, newly-minted young voters, middle-aged and older couples, Black, White and Latino citizens. I love election time. I proudly wore my “I voted” sticker for the rest of the day as i ran errands.

Great work from the TOD’ers – I am loving reading about all the canvassing/GOTV experiences – some even in real time! It’s fantastic and uplifting. Thanks again to Chips for this magnificent site and the incredible effort she puts into keeping it all humming for the world to enjoy. Any word on the Des Moines register endorsement? I know the editor is a right winger so curious to see if they will follow up their blatant last week’s snit with a R endorsement. I think one can draw clear lines in the sand with these endorsements. R has disgraced himself with his blatant lying. Whoever endorses him after that disqualifies themselves as a serious media outlet. That is all.

Agreed, but WaPo characterizes it as a slim lead. I think I need to stop reading papers/websites for the next ten days. This close to the election, a 4 point lead is extremely difficult for Romney to overcome both here and in OH.

        • October 27, 2012 at 8:08 pm

From now until close of polls on 6 Nov – unless Team Obama ‘leaks’ internals – ‘polls’ are meaningless unless it’s reports from the field on the number of people voting early :) So, my suggestion is to be kind to yourself and just focus on the joy of so many people already voting to re-elect our President and turn as much of the Country blue or purple as possible.

The senseless snit fit re. the Obama interview was just the latest in a long line of problems the DMR has had with President Obama. That is one of the sites I check regularly because——-Iowa! but since pro-Repub Gannett took over and with this new conservative editor, all political reporting has been slanted pro-Romney, pro-Republican. And every little tidbit about Obama, even his fair visit, would be reported in a cynical, negative manner. They have gone out of their way to find something negative in every Obama appearance, or would omit any positive which was reported elsewhere. Not surprised at all about this endorsement. Saw it coming.

Ooh I got this ejit on the phone in Ohio who was going to vote for Ron Paul. I was like why? You know he is not going to win, right? And he’s like yeah but the other two are idiots so I’m not voting for them. I was like idiot means a lot of things why specifically are you not for Romney and why are you not for Obama. He said Romney would ship jobs overseas and Obama….pause…Obama is an idiot. Then he hung up. Man I wish I was in Ohio just now so I can present him with a mirror to show him what an idiot really looks like.

He can go fuck himself. What a loser. SMH. the only good thing is that at least his vote isn’t going to Willard. If PBO can’t have that fool’s vote, at least Willard won’t get it either. I know two dumbasses like that but they are in the Willard camp. One won’t be voting( thank god. I worked with him for 5 months and Jesus would you believe what a moron he is?) he started saying he didn’t think he’d be voting for PBO this time around, bc PBO “wants to raise ” his millionaire parents’ taxes. I asked him how much taxes they are paying now, that ass said 50%. WTF??!!! He’s one of those asses who are only in the doctoral program bc he’s going to be inheriting his parents’ practice. Fuckwit. He is literally an idiot. God bless the clients he’ll be counseling in the future. The other person is a Repuke bc her parents are Repuke. She hates PBO. Why? Who the fuck knows. Also, when my libertarian friend who is voting PBO told us that Ann Coulter-whore extraordinaire- who has managed to screw every unmarried conservative in this country- said PBO was that horrible word, that other idiot girl who- thankfully wont be voting, she’s still waiting for her ballot from out of state. She’s been waiting on it for weeks, something tells me she won’t be getting it by Election Day (there really is a God)– that one said: ‘I would agree with Coulter, he is a fucking ______.” I was so goddamned mad! The only thing that made me feel good was knowing that bitch was from a solid blue state so her vote doesn’t count and also, she possibly won’t get a chance to exercise her asshole opinion cause she still hasn’t received her ballot yet. Mean spirited bitch. Ugh.

I feel for you, but now you can feel for me too as one of my brothers lives next door. He wrote in Ron Paul’s name too. He is strictly a constitutionalist. I worked on him all year as I was able to convince him to vote Obama in ’08 but that time he only did to keep my newly departed Dad’s promise to me. This time I could not get anywhere with him.

My other brother lives in MT and clings to his gun and believes the NRA and GOP lines about Obama. He watches FOX News and listens to Rush Limbaugh. He is even harder to convince since he has been brainwashed. According to him I drink the Kool-aide. I did switch his wife to Obama this time though.

My Mom voted for Obama and all Dems as did I and I turned in our mail-in ballots. My four grown kids and their spouses are voting for Obama. My two brothers are a disappointment to me.

I voted TODAY here in beautiful Albuquerque, NM (sort of…please don’t look down at the dirt, weeds and broken glass ok?)! We’re BLUE. No drama here. I am the infamous TOD owner of the new-blue-car with the GORGEOUS OBAMA ’12 front license plate once featured here. SO I pull up right in front at the early polling site and go in. EASY process! Nice poll workers! But when I get outside one of the ancient ole white poll workers guys has taken a big plastic sidewalk easel and pushed against the front of my car to hide the plate!!! “CAMPAIGNING” is prohibited within 100 YDs of the polling site, so….no prob….rules are rules…..but I hadda chuckle!! I hope he didn’t strain his O2 tank and orthopedic sneakers rushing to hide my plate!! :>)

First Lady Michelle Obama will be featured on a special edition of the nationally syndicated Café Mocha Radio Show this weekend.

Mrs. Obama shares a special message for African American women during her interview with show hosts Loni Love, MC Lyte and Angelique Perrin in the interview, which begins airing on Friday.

With healthcare reform being a focal point in the upcoming presidential election, the First Lady urged women to “own their power” and understand that the ability to make decisions about their reproductive health is at serious risk.

Wow what a day! I am exhausted and still recovering from being sick. I spent 6 hours today phonebanking to IA and VA. I can’t count the number of calls that I made through the afternoon. I decided to trek down to Obama HQ to make calls from a friend’s office who has been working like a fiend over the past few months. I brought him so lunch, then sat down at a computer and started dialing. As you would expect, things are bustling here in Chicago. The energy is palpable and spirits are high. Though I did notice a few more people looking haggard today than I have in the past few weeks :) No sleep until November 7th. As usual, the number one concern expressed was GOTV. I could report that from what I am seeing online and offline the grassroots is FIRED UP and READY TO GO. A few months ago, I encouraged my friend to check in here if he wanted to find a place besides the OFA blog where he can see what Obama supporters are saying and reporting. He has been a “lurker” ever since. Anyway, I just wanted to drop in with a little update. I will be phonebanking again tomorrow except this time from home. I have an intermittent cough that doesn’t seem to want to go away. I am really loving the updates that I am reading from folks here over the past few weeks. Please keep them coming. It is always so encouraging that we are not alone in our far flung cities doing this work but rather that we are part of an amazing community of great people doing all that we can to re-elect the President to another term. Peace to you all.

MERRIMACK, N.H. — A photo with the president is a hot commodity even for well-known Democratic candidates running statewide. Two candidates in uphill races for state representative got their own on Saturday afternoon.

Kim Kojak and Joanne Rotast had been tipped off by the local Democratic organization that Obama would be making an unannounced visit to The Common Man restaurant branch here.

Rotast, who told Obama that she’d tried many times to win a dinner with him through one of the campaign fundraising promotions, received “a birthday hug and a kiss” from the president when her husband pointed out that she was celebrating Saturday.

Both got photos of them with a smiling Obama that are already headed for the Merrimack Democrats Facebook page. But getting more prospective voters to see them standing with the commander-in-chief isn’t going to be easy.

“My campaign lit—everything’s already done,” Kojak said by phone later in the day. “But “I’ll be getting it out on social media absolutely, absolutely. I just have no more money for my campaign.”

Kojak is counting on Democrats flipping the majority of the 400-member New Hampshire House of Representatives, but she’s more measured about her own prospects in Merrimack. She thinks the same is true for Obama: though she’s expecting him to win the state, she’s not sure that Merrimack voters will change their minds from 2008, when they didn’t support him.

“This time, I think that maybe they are disgusted enough with how things are going on a national level and also on a local level, so I think it’s going to be close. I think it’s going to be closer than 2008,” Kojak said. “But I don’t want to predict he’s going to win.”

    • October 27, 2012 at 9:15 pm

      And…

MERRIMACK, N.H. — President Obama is used to talking about the first lady out on the trail, but Saturday on his short trip through New Hampshire, two new topics came up: her 2016 White House prospects and her marital philosophy.

Stopping at Teamsters Local 633 in Manchester in the early afternoon, Obama was grabbed with urgency by an older woman who’d waited in the union hall basement for the president.

“Tell Michelle to stand by, we need a woman president in four years,” she said.

Obama responded with a deep chuckle, not touching that one.

Later, in his stop here at The Common Man restaurant after his rally in Nashua, Obama greeted a couple who told him they’d been married 48 years by noting that he and his wife just celebrated 20 years together (as he acknowledged on the stage in Denver, their anniversary was the night of the disastrous first debate).

      Their secret?

“Michelle’s attitude is that it takes about 15 years to train a man,” Obama said. “But the last five have been pretty good.”

Hi folks, Just got back from a big day of canvassing in Milwaukee with 50 some other Chicago volunteers. A terrific OFA office up there and great weather – sunshine and about 50 which was perfect for canvassing. This is the first year that Wisconsin has early voting so many were unaware of it still so it was fun to be able to give them the details and most all were excited to go vote. They have it 7 days a week up until November 3rd! Saturday and Sunday 9-5 and weekdays until 7:30 so it really really helps people who have regular day jobs. They can also register and early vote at the same time/same place.

Former “car czar” Steve Rattner is heading to Ohio tomorrow as a surrogate for President Obama, a source familiar with the trip said.

The source didn’t immediately know the specifics of where in the state Rattner, who is now a frequent MSNBC commentator, will be and at which events.

But it underscores the emphasis the campaign is placing on the auto bailout.

Obama campaign aides did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

Hello! Hello! CHIPSTICKS? TOD? When I try to access the post titled New Hampshire, time stamp 16:08, I get the headline, but a black field advising me that page cannot be found. Have I become lost? Am I out here in cyberspace all alone and lonely? Oh dear oh dear, any ideas? Y’all?

Just found out the DMR endorsed Romney then begged him to protect everyone’s rights. I almost fell off the bed laughing. How butt hurt were they at the off the record interview Pres. Obama gave their reporter? Sheesh.

Someone DM’d me to look at Nate’s last sentence in his blog post of a couple of hours ago ….

“Still, it is misinformed to refer to Ohio as a toss-up. Mr. Obama is the favorite there, and because of Ohio’s central position in the Electoral College, he is therefore the overall favorite in the election.”

    And, he notes …

“In Ohio, however, there are not just three polls: roughly a dozen polling firms, rather, have surveyed the state over the past 10 days. There are NO precedents in the database for a candidate losing with a two- or three-point lead in a state when the polling volume was that rich.”

    http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/27/oct-26-state-poll-averages-usually-call-election-right/

As all of you know, the only polls that ever matter to me are the ones where folk vote, but it seemed worthwhile to share the above in case any of you haven’t already seen it.

Irrespective of how encouraging Nate’s analysis may appear to be, let’s remember, we are in this not to win but to crush Willard and his fanatical John Birch Party and remove as many of its minions from Congress and State Houses throughout the Republic.

Boston Glove – Campaign tips for Scott Brown

    http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2012/10/25/lehigh/fQ4YlyYFiyRIMtSJ8qhEiN/story.html

Um, Senator Brown, got a minute?

Let me be blunt. You are in imminent danger of becoming former Senator Scott Brown.

Why? Well, for starters, you’re running a dumb campaign in a smart state.

You have basically been rolling burning barrels out of the back of your truck at Elizabeth Warren, hoping to raise enough doubts to disqualify her in voters’ minds.

That explains your obsessive harping on her undocumented claim of Native American heritage and the “questions” it supposedly raises. And your ads that twist complicated legal cases she’s been involved with into a narrative that portrays her as a legal gun-for-hire who has enriched herself by helping corporations run roughshod over everyday people.
