Congratulations, Allison!
Thanks!
Congrats Allison. Good Evening Chips and Toder’s.
Thoughts and prayers to all
HI
Thoughts to all in Sandy’s path. My University has been closed for tomorrow. Hopefully our power doesn’t go out.
Hey Ck! I’m hoping we don’t see the worse of this storm. My family is prepared as best we can be. I won’t be leaving my house tomorrow if this thing is as bad as they are predicting it to be. You stay safe. OFA has suspended things for tomorrow. They said they will make a decision tomorrow about what to do on Tuesday. The Governor has cancelled early voting tomorrow but it will probably be extended to Friday. I got reports from other family members and friends that there were again really long lines at the polls today.
I feel ill prepared. I don’t even have any water
And I’m really praying the power doesn’t go out or else all my food will go bad.
Fill some pans with tap water. Enough so you’ll have water to drink for a couple of days. If the power goes out, keep the fridge closed. Food will keep for at least a day without electricity. All you really need is a flashlight and a good book. Good luck to everyone.
boil that water and let it cool for drinking, unless you trust tap in your city. Save some for face washing and brushing, etc. Locate the flashlights or candles and matches. Good luck to all of us.
Can you pick up some ice and keep it in the freezer? At least you can safe your food for a day with stored ice?
Fill your pans and kettles, if you have any, with tap water and then boil it while you still have power. You can then use this for drinking for days. You cooked food should be able to carry you for a day or two. Praying and wishing you all the best CK! Prayers also for all the people in the path of this storm.
Stay safe, Donna – and all on the East Coast.
As for the long lines in early voting – if they’re like this for early voting, then what are they going to be like for all those who wait to vote on Election Day? I hope most Democrats vote early.
From what I understand the worst of the storm will be in MD/DC from 12noon Monday to 12noon Tuesday. Our work offices are closed tomorrow.
ck, Donna, hopefruit, sherijr and all others in the storm’s path – please stay safe. Check in when you can. You will certainly all be in our thoughts and prayers as this thing moves through.
Hope everyone stays safe. I’ll be thinking of you and will check in to see if you have made any reports of how things are going.
That picture of our President and his daughters and Ms. Wilson walking back up to the White House after church … that is family, that is representative of true family values and love and all that we want for this country. Stability, leadership, I love it.
OMG, look at how beautiful and grown up the girls are. Sasha has really sprouted in the last 4 years, and Malia is almost her father’s height. He looks so comfortable strolling along with his baby girl under one arm and his first girl by his side. You can feel the proud daddy vibes emanating from him and sense his deep affection for them.
I see the Sandy hurricane event as an opportunity for the American people to see what this election is about, and to see our commander in chief in charge, to see that govt. matters, and is the only force to protect the people and restore communities when a national disaster strikes.
And Romney has given them a great picture of how he will handle a similar situation. I find this absolutely vile and unbelievable.
“Asked about federal disaster relief for recent tornado and flood victims at last night’s GOP debate, candidate Mitt Romney called the spending “immoral” and said the Federal Emergency Management Agency should be privatized.”
So I wonder if the people supporting who are in the path of this storm will agree with this. Privatization. Nothing like profiting off other’s misery.
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2011/06/14/244973/mitt-romney-federal-disaster-relief-for-tornado-and-flood-victims-is-immoral-makes-no-sense-at-all/
This is stunning! Privatize disaster relief. Really? It would still have to be paid for. Private companies aren’t going to do it for free. What an asshole. Think Katrina. No relief in sight for several days. This angers me greatly that we could get a president that really thinks that business should do everything. It’s freightening.
I guess he would eliminate foriegn aide disaster relief as well. Geez. The guy needs a reality check. I’m truly stunned
Would it be like the fire insurance required in some places that have gone towards privatization where they stand and watch the place burn down if they did not purchase the insurance for living outside the city limits?
I thought the same thing Bill….that in times of struggle and great catastrophe we have to pull together…and that this is what our Gov does for us…..
Why Romney and Ryan’s Lies Matter
Submitted by Simon Rosenberg on 8/30/12
————————————
If your politics revolves around protecting privilege then lying to those without it is no big deal, For at the core of this new politics is a remarkable contempt for the well being of everyday people and the common good. This contempt for the truth is just an extension of their contempt for us and our interests. Which is why Mitt Romney is in so many ways a perfect candidate for this modern Republican Party, and Paul Ryan its perfect propagandist. They lie because at the end of the day their politics are not about us – it is about them, and their small group of funders and political allies looking to do a leveraged buy-out of the most powerful government in human history. Which is why there has been almost no mention these first two nights of the GOP Convention about what they will do when in power. Other than protecting low taxes for the wealthy it just isn’t clear there is that much else they care about.
—————————————–
http://ndn.org/blog/2012/08/why-romney-and-ryans-lies-matter
This is brilliant and the first sentence should be sent to all in the media because it is a perfect indictment of them as well as Romney. The reason they haven’t made a bigger deal about calling Romney out is because it IS no big deal to lie to those without power if your main concern is to protect privilege (read pampered political media) . thank you for posting this Ladyhawke.
The article is fantastic. I retweeted it. In a sense, it redefines the phrase “white lie” which used to mean a harmless lie told by anyone. Now, it apparently means any lie, big or small told by a rich white person, which is rendered harmless by virture of the fact it was told by a rich white person.
I wonder if the Obama campaign can run an ad in Ohio with the Chrysler statement making clear Romney’s lie about Jeep.
Hmmm…..interesting idea.
Chips can be such a slippery character! I didn’t even glimpse her this time.
President Obama will be on Morning Jerk, I mean Morning Joe in the morning. I can’t watch, but if anybody else wants to watch this is a FYI.
President Obama is a bigger man than I – regardless of the fact that I’m a woman… I would never grant Morning Joke an audience. Ever.

Subject: Your Yard Sign
Alycee R–
As Hurricane Sandy continues its path inland, we want to make sure that you and your family and friends continue to prepare. We’re so glad that so many of Tim’s supporters have placed yard signs in their lawns — but due to the potential for strong winds in this storm, the last thing we want is for yard signs to become projectiles. Please take down all of your yard signs as soon as you can — not only for your safety, but also for the safety of your neighbors.
And remember, additional information on hurricane preparedness can be found at the following locations:
Make an emergency kit with water, food, radios, flashlights, and warm clothing: http://www.ready.gov/build-a-kit
Monitor the storm: http://www.vaemergency.gov/
Monitor road conditions: Call 5-1-1

As always, call 9-1-1 for any emergency or about any storm-related situation that threatens your safety.
On behalf of everyone at the Kaine for Virginia team, please be prepared and stay safe. We hope for the best for you and your loved ones.

Against my better judgement I listen to the CBS evening news where Jan Crawford tries to tell us what a big deal the endorsement Mitt Romney got from the Des Moines Register, then she tells us that the race in Ohio is tied. So I thought the polls show the President with a 4-5 point lead. So I said to myself there this MSM go again. Crawford always seem to me like she is a Romney supporter, like Chuck Todd, she is not fair and balance, she eats up Romney lies.
The MSM is taking straight dictation from the Romney campaign. My advice is to avoid the spin/propaganda b/c it won’t stop until after the election. Mitt is losing and the MSM wants the public to think otherwise.
Annie, Jan Crawford is actually quite blatant about her support for the Romneys…
She got the first interview with them as a couple – which pretty much tells you all you need to know…
She was so anti- President Obama in her very leading and framed questions to the Romneys, she even trumped FOX news in her shilling…
I was very surprised that the interview with Jan Crawford got little coverage and even fewer raised eyebrows for how unrestrained and blatant she was with her obvious support for the Romneys…
See for yourself…
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57466625/ann-romney-obamas-whole-campaign-strategy-is-lets-kill-this-guy-/.
Watch as many clips of that interview as you can find and you’ll never mistake Jan Crawford for anything other than a right wing media shill ever again…
Who is the pleasant looking lady walking with them?
Kaye Wilson aka Mama Kaye. She is a very close friend of the family and often travels with them when they go on official/non-official overseas trips.
It is so wonderful to see they are surrounded by people who love them.
Malia & Sasha’s God-mother.
Yep, she is the First Kids’ God Mother
Thanks!
HOW PATHETIC IS DAVID GREGORY?
Rachel Maddow Busts David Gregory’s Rape Dodge for Romney
By: Jason Easley
————————————-
Gregory’s implication that Mitt Romney doesn’t want the association with that part of the Republican Party was completely false. If Romney didn’t want to be associated with it, why did he choose Paul Ryan as his running mate? If Romney wanted nothing to do with it, he would have told Mourdock to take down the ad, and pulled his endorsement.
The truth is that Romney wants the association with the far right, but he doesn’t want the broader electorate to know that he holds those views. Usually, GOP talking point machine Gregory would be able to get away with his flawed questions based on conservative positions, but Rachel Maddow was there to offer up the truth.
David Gregory’s biases are well know, so it was a treat to see his “fairness” (code for Republican talking points) offset by a strong dose of truth and reality delivered by Rachel Maddow.

A TRUTHFULNESS PROBLEM
Rachel Maddow Slams Romney for Lying About Jeep Moving Production to China
By: Jason Easley
————————–
On Meet The Press today, Rachel Maddow used the lie about Jeep moving production to China to slam Romney for having a truthfulness problem.
.
.
Maddow used Romney’s recent Jeep fearmongering to drive the point home that Romney has a problem with telling the truth, “On the integrity issue, on the trust issue, Mitt Romney this went to Defiance, Ohio and told a group of 11,000 people “Jeep is about to move all of their production overseas. I read that somewhere. Jeep is going to move all of its production–” Not at all true. It’s okay for a candidate to make a flub, but not to correct it, to not say “I was wrong about that.” The campaign was asked: “Are you sure the candidate meant that because that doesn’t seem to be true?” No response clearing that up from the campaign. There’s been a truthfulness problem with the Romney campaign that connects even to the very basic issues like the economy in the states where it most matters.”

There were 11,000 peeps at his rally. What was the hourly rate for attendees?

Easy, easy, easy! Talking to people makes a difference:) Don’t be nervous, don’t be afraid…just do it! Our President needs us now and everything we do, helps.
You can join Dashboard and make the calls from there. Be part of history. Be the change. Help move us FORWARD!!
I agree. It is remarkably easy to volunteer your time with this dashboard tool. I do it all the time. And even if in 1 hr you only talk to one person, that’s fine. Cause as Michelle says just that one in a precinct can make a colossal difference state wide and nationally.
Remember: One voice can change a room, and if it change a room it can change a city, and if it can change a city it can change a state and if it can change a state, it can change a nation, and if it can change a nation it can change the world. Your one voice has the power to change how the world see us in the next four years and what this country looks like 4, 8, 10 20 plus years from now.
So why not speak?
EXACTLY! Thanks for taking the time to do that, cman…..important work.
Thank you so much for your dedication, desertflower. I did some canvassing today with my 11 year old. But most of what I’ve done is send money and haven’t devoted much time. It’s folks like you pouring your time, energy, heart and soul in such generous quantaties that will make the biggest difference. YOU AND POEPLE LIKE YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Don’t sell yourself short:) We all do what we can…you may be the perfect person to use this call tool!!! Try it, you’ll like it:)
Meet the Press: Rachel Maddow–not host David Gregory–fact checks Harold Ford
By Nicole Belle
————————
David Gregory famously rejected any responsibility for actually providing his viewers any kind of fact checking or context, which makes the all-too-rare inclusion of Rachel Maddow on the round table that much more critical, since Rachel–armed with facts and an interest in truth, unlike her colleague Gregory–feels no such compunction from calling out others, even if they are (allegedly) on her side of the debate.
Then again, when we’re speaking of former congressman and DLC chairman Harold Ford, it’s hard to know on whose side he is, besides his own. In his true corporatist, right wing meme-swallowing style, Ford has been pushing the stupid “we must address the deficit” pearl clutching advocated by the Republican Party and advocating for tax cuts.

Harold Ford is such a jerk! He better not run for any national office. I will donate to his opponent.
Is their anyway I can get in contact with Planned Parenthood? I want to see what their reaction is to Washington Post fact checker about mammograms cause they are trying to accuse PBO of lying.
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/newsroom.htm contact info here
Thanks!
The fact checker on Washington Post made a bunch of statements that were suspect about Planned Parenthood and I just wanted to clear the air some. Doubt that they’ll reply but it wouldn’t hurt to try.
You can always call them directly. I’m almost certain they know HE LIES ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!

How long this storm is expected to last? 48 hours?
Possibly as long as Thursday. It is slow moving and enormous, last I heard like 600 miles so it will go on for several days.

There’s something really smelly in Romney’s Bain record, and he won’t clear it up, except to say “Trust me.” No politician who says that should ever get a vote.

Ok, I’m on crappy hospital wi-fi, so I can’t watch the video. Please tell me this is snark.
Yes. Very funny. At the end there’s a photo of Willard looking like a Zombie and his name is changed to Zomney.
Eggcellent!
No, it’s a deadly serious account of how Romney will bring on the zombie apocalypse. And Josh is all for it!
Am I a wuss because I can’t watch zombie movies? Just way too nihilistic for me. Although I do have World War Z on my tablet to read.
Sign of intelligence. (I admit to watching – and enjoying- Shawn of the Dead, but I had a teenage son at the time. And I did close my eyes at parts). Luckily this video is light on zombies-eating-brains. You’re safe.

Um…….. Okay……alright. If they want to live in their own alternate reality, let them. I can just see election night, now. Even when everyone calls it for PBO, Willard will say he won.
who the hell cares. SMH”
They are obviously playing perception games, trying to stay in it, hoping for an Event or something to throw election…
They can hope all they want, PBO will win a second term.
Can you just imagine that when President Obama stands up to take his oath for re-election, Mitt sneaks up to the mic and tries to swear the oath? I wouldn’t put it past him at all. “It’s his turn” after all.
That scenario isn’t even farfetched. I can see it now.
Luckily, Secret Service would make quick work of Mitt. Hand him over to the guys with the white jackets, where he belongs.
Or “accidentally” push him off the stage.
——— vicious and mean? Yes…… No apologies.
I would rather he be carted off, tied up tight. Make sure he leaves the scene, and garners no sympathy.
And they all crawled over broken glass to get there and…
Been calling Ohio all day today and from my calls I definitely think Ohio is blue no contest.
Great work cman!!!

Thanks. The dashboard thing is so great cause I can do this at home while I wait out the storm or power goes out. Just spoke to a lady who was lean Obama. Had been undecided before and was in the fox focus group for the VP debate. She started leaning Obama recently and after we finished talking she is now strong Obama. So fulfilling. Every vote counts.
OUTSTANDING!!!!
that’s excellent CMan! Excellent work!
Jovie do you know at what time our President’s Orlando rally begins tomorrow?
The office of the press secretary released this statement Sunday on the president’s revised travel plans:
“Tomorrow, the President will return to the White House following his event in Orlando, FL, to monitor Hurricane Sandy, which is currently forecast to make landfall along the Eastern seaboard later tomorrow. The event in Youngstown, OH, will move forward with President Clinton and include Vice President Biden.
“The President continues to be regularly updated on the storm. Today, he participated in an operations briefing at the National Response Coordination Center at FEMA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. During the briefing, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate updated the President on ongoing deployments of teams and resources by federal partners to support state and local responders in potentially affected areas. The President also received an update on the storm from National Hurricane Director Rick Knabb, and later spoke directly with Governors and Mayors from potentially impacted states to ensure there were no unmet needs. The President continues to receive regular updates on the storm, and continues to direct his team to make sure all available resources are brought to bear to support state and local partners.”
And …-

Thanks Jovie – this is great! And now PPP has him up in FL 49-48.
Lol Bob
YET again Chuckle Todd is wrong about the enthusiasm gap, especially in Ohio! PPP shows that there is no enthusiasm gap between democrats supporting PBO and Republicans supporting Romney.
Make sure you tweet him with your displeasure.
Did anyone already note this nice opinion piece written by Connie Britton (actress from Friday Night Lights and now on Nashville) and one of the producers/writers? of Friday Night Lights? I do love that show. worth reading: http://m.usatoday.com/article/news/1663895?preferredArticleViewMode=single
Here here! Not surprising that Romneybot had to steal a phrase from someone else. Pathetic.
WOOT! PBO up 49-48 in FL per new PPP poll. All of you who are working so hard in FL, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! And same for you who are doing the same in NC. I am so angry about the Jeep ad I now want to see PBO SWEEP every swing state. I’m phonebanking but the real work is done by those of you who are on the ground. We CAN do this! Forward!
Don’t sell yourself short. Each thing we do counts. Donation, phone banking, canvassing. I just had a 20 min conversation with a former undecided in Ohio, turn lean Obama and then strong Obama by the end of our conversation. Every single vote counts.
Well done, cman!
I wonder where this is?
Orlando, he arrived there a short while ago.
with apologies to donna dem …
BTW, I think Mittens has finally gone too far with the car/Jeep ad and this is going to turn on him. He’s like the kid who pushes and puhes and pushes and finally crosses the line for severe consequences. He has been aided by the media’s refusal to call him out but this one will not be ignored as evidenced above. Today may be the day he put the final nail his own coffin.
If Twitter is any indication, Mitt is in for a very bad, no good, awful day tomorrow. We’ll see the consequences of not letting fact checkers get in the way of the campaign.
What’s twitter saying?
Calling Romney out on the unmitigated lying about the Chrysler ad. Hell, even Jeep’s blog is calling him out.
Mitt was foolish to think Jeep would not call out his lies. This lie had no doubt scared the Jeep workforce in OH to death. Mitt is going to learn that lies have consequences (despite what beltway CW tells us). I think this will cost Mitt dearly in Ohio, people don’t like being lied to.
Have been following your posts about your wife, LL, and hope all remains stable so she can return home, tomorrow.
As to Willard’s frankenstorm of a lie … even the WSJ is hammering him on it.
#TrustBarack – He’s Earned It
What I wonder is if Romney’s tactic of not talking to the press will work? If the media will ignore the lies from the last couple of debates and since then?
By not setting his record straight the tactic works, if so it will be a tried and true strategy and the press will have even less influence in political campaigns.

that this is the guy keeping watch at night…….
BOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
For those obsessed with polls: my sister put me in touch with this pollster who is supposed to be even more accurate than Nate Silver. He has a conservative estimate of 90% for re-election, and a bullish estimate of 97% for re-election. It’s a little bit of a confusing site, but he summarizes his prediction in the top of the front page.
“Probability of Obama re-election: Random Drift 90%, Bayesian Prediction 97%” http://election.princeton.edu/
Yep. If you’re going to torture yourself with polls then this is THE place to go for hardcore analysis. Probably only better places would be internals in Chicago and Boston and you know it’s bad in Boston given the recent bullshit from Rove.
#TrustBarack Let’s Get This Done
In 2008 he missed Electoral Vote call by ONE vote. Nate missed a state which would be more. But I’ve been pretty pleased to see the two totally different methods lining up together. I believe both had PBO at 295 EV yesterday although Sam Wang has a higher probability than Nate. I like to check each of them at the end of the day.
Thanks for the link theo67. I too am bullish on PBO’s performance on election day. PBO’s big lead among registerd voter, along with early voting numbers lead me to believe there is a growing “silent majority” that pollsters refuse to count in their likely voter models (the latest Isopos/Reuters poll has PBO winning by 12 among registered voters). Mitt is like a defective product that the MSM is trying like hell to sell to the American people.
I actually think President Obama will again win one electoral vote from Nebraska that he missed in 2008. Bob Kerry’s poll numbers have improved dramatically to where he is now behind 3% (within the margin of error) in the latest poll about NE’s Senate race.
A Desperate, Deceptive Gambit for Romney in Ohio
By Jonathan Cohn
—————————–
How desperate is Mitt Romney to win Ohio? Before you answer, pay attention to what he and his campaign have been saying about the auto industry in the last few days.
As you may have heard, Romney on Thursday scared the bejeezus out of Ohio autoworkers when, during a rally, he cited a story claiming that Chrysler was moving Jeep production to China. Thousands of people work at a sprawling Jeep complex in Toledo and a nearby machining plant. Many thousands more work for suppliers or have jobs otherwise dependent on the Jeep factories. It’s fair to say that they owe their jobs to President Obama, who in 2009 rescued Chrysler and General Motors from likely liquidation. If Chrysler moved the plants overseas, most of those people would be out of work.
The story turns out to be wrong. As Chrysler made clear the very next day, in a tartly worded blog post on the company website, officials have discussed opening plants in China in order to meet rising demand for vehicles there. They have no plans to downsize or shutter plants in the U.S. On the contrary, Fiat, the Italian company that acquired Chrysler during the rescue, just spent $1.7 billion to expand Jeep production in the U.S. That includes $500 million to renovate and expand the Toledo facilities, with 1,000 new factory jobs likely to follow. On Monday, about the same number of people will report for their first day of work in Detroit, when Chrysler adds a third shift to a Jeep plant it operates there.

I think Mitt’s lying about the auto industry in Ohio will backfire big time. His lies are insulting, and I think will move people either to PBO or make people who would have otherwise voted for Mitt, stay home. Other than diehard racists or 1%ers who would willingly vote for such a pathological liar? Beltway pundits and MSM personalities are not representative of the American people writ large. I think major movement is going toward PBO. That Ispos/Reuters poll that has PBO up 3 using likely voter screen, but up 12 among registered voters. I repeat up 12 among registered voters. Yet another example of this “likely voter” bullshit making the race seem closer than it is in reality.
This is what a REAL CIC looks like!!

We must ALL notice this because it was plastered here many times:) Sorry…didn’t see those! Love looking at this anyway….Craig Fugate is awesome at his job….in good hands
Lurker in for a comment. Our Pres”O”dent is the world’s best multi-tasker and always steady as he goes! What a man, what a man!
Mitt Romney on the other hand, has a serious mental problem…he makes up his own reality (very scary).
Good comment to “delurk” with, WilTal!
President Barack Obama and President Bill Clinton will speak Monday at a campaign event on Memory Mall at the University of Central Florida.
What a neat idea – why didn’t I think of that…
These are our kind of polls
Willard is getting his ass handed to him in states with early voting. If anyone hasn’t seen the The Atlantic article on the difference in the ground games it is pretty awesome. “Obama’s Edge: The Ground Game That Could Put Him Over the Top” http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/10/obamas-edge-the-ground-game-that-could-put-him-over-the-top/264031/

President Obama is scheduled to return to the White House at 2:45pm tomorrow. The WH is anticipating a drive home rather than Marine One flight.
I agree with them. I imagine that AF1 is equipped to land in terrible weather.
Remember the rough landing in Moneygall? President Obama even had to give a hug to one of the staffers who was injured a little bit in that landing. I’m glad they’re driving.
He changed it to favor republicans?
Irrelevant at this point, Jovie, as you know. The only polls in FL now are those reporting breakout of actual voters, voting.
#TrustBarack
no you have to read it properly. The way it looks is that the enthusiasm is in a dead heat due to the margin of error and that people are still going to vote for their candidate. If anything Florida only shows it slightly favoring Romney but people are still leaning more PBO than the Twit.
Yes, the GOP is excited alright – to vote for Obama – like the pizza store owner from FL, Charlie Crist among others.
maybe Chris Christie as well with his praising PBO for his handling of the storm?
Ha!
Nice for the narrative, but the real voters on the ground are more important than pollster’s “likely voters.”
I looked at it closer. Found that women supporting PBO as more important than the male vote because Romney is going to have a hard time winning states without the female vote.
Hispanics leaning Romney in Florida isn’t surprising considering that most are Cuban’s which lean republican.
(pokes his head)
GM folks.
psst. Is it safe ? Has ut cooled down yet ?
I don’t think UT will cool down for a while… LL, too. It’s kind of fun to watch, actually!
Fun? Are you kidding me? I’m stepping carefully so as not to trigger another impassioned response and you are having fun watching?
Yup – and I’m looking forward to Chipsticks’ responses after 18 bottles of champagne in celebration. anything to distract from the poll-watching, at this point…
I’ll tell you frankly, Theo, I’m going to play least in sight when Ms Chips staggers home, because sure as the sun’s in the sky the temperature here is going to rise again, and I don’t handle heat well.
Wonder if I pray hard that Ms Chips will be gracious and not mention the matter, no matter how she’s
provokedapproached if it’d work?As long as nobody is getting burned, I have no problem with the heat. I’ve done enough trash talking in my time, coming from the land of Gretzky.
… And of course, now living in the new land of Gretzky.
I knew there was more than one reason I’m no hockey fan!
Ya know, if wifey weren’t in the hospital, I’d be spitting nails at the HORRENDOUS officiating. But, eh, E. coli in a loved-one’s bloodstream puts things into perspective.
{{{LL}}} Can you almost count it as a blessing in disguise?
She’s just hoping to be released tomorrow. Now that the meds are working and she’s feeling better, she’s ready to tear her hair out from boredom.
So glad she’s getting released tomorrow, and if she’s thinking of tearing her hair out, she must be feeling a little better!
Yes, Indeed! Perspective is all that really matters. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery. Besides, I understand your team is still in first place. So, no need to stress over one unfair loss. Unfortunately, sports officials are never infallible. Now and then they mess up; that’s true in all the sports. I hope you and UT will shake hands with Chipsticks. That’s what I was taught to do when I played sports, even when our team lost and knew that the loss was because we had bean cheated by poor officiating.
HOW the hell did she get e-coli LL?
We have no idea.
Martha Plimpton is another actress who is a fierce and steadfast supporter of PBO.

Yeah….she’s freaking brilliant and her show “Raising Hope” is hilarious too. She takes on all the haters and shoves their crap back about Pres. Obama. Fierce Liberal and fierce advocate of women’s rights.

Just got back from 2 shifts at SM HQ. We started calling WI, and then switched to IA ’cause the Packers were playing. Then after a while we switched to NV. Paper callers were calling CO. Absolutely awesome crowd, with lots and lots of first time callers. My last call was with a very sweet Obama supporter; did my heart good to talk to her. Planning to sign up for all 4 days of GOTV next weekend up through election day 9am – 9pm. Have to figure out how to handle the hard seats for that long a time of sitting. I see there’s another Jennifer, so I guess I’ll put (from SM) in my name.
I keep seeing ads for that movie, on killing OBL.
Next Sunday on NGC at 8 pm, it looks awesome!
Is that the one where the republicans are freaked out and livid that they are going to air this movie before election day? LOL
Gotta see it!
Yep, Jeff & Jovie. 4 Nov, National Geographic Channel. Posted the YouTube trailer in the previous thread if you want to check it out.

Brilliant kids!!!
Awwww, I have to admit, both likenesses are really cute.
LOL. Love it. Not even a single vote for the liar.
Nice Donna! Leave it to the kids
This is so cute, and really leads back to the children’s vote that you all posted about a few weeks ago. The one that they are always right about in the outcome of the presidential election.
Tweet to doj.
oh God this is horrible!
Is the Department of Justice going to do anything about it? It’s saddening to read that some feel that it might be better if PBO loses due to the fear for his safety. I’m starting to realize the lack of democratic enthusiasm for PBO in Southern states. I think some may very well fear for their lives.
That doesn’t really make sense. #1 – their vote is not public knowledge. #2 – they will forever live in fear if they keep allowing the establishment to win because they’re afraid of the consequences. For heaven’s sake – the President and the Attorney General are both black! If the people of color in the South are still afraid even though the power rests in their hands, then that’s a very scary proposition.
Never forget what happened to Gabby Giffords and her supporters – the GOP and the media would like everyone to forget.
This video is very questionable to me. I can’t put my finger on it yet.

Indeed.
You gotta love that.
Our hackers are better than your thieves.
This also puts the media on notice that no matter how much they try to do a PSYOP on the people, the truth is PBO’s re-election has never been a close call. It’s always been a landslide. And more importantly, anon called out kkkarla krove on attempting to overthrow the United States government, which is the most significant piece of anon’s NOTICE because the GOPKKK have been trying to do that from day one of PBO’s presidency.
I’ve followed Anonymous for some years. They mean what they say, and they have smart enough people to shut shit down and expose the truth. Think…Wiki Leaks. For some reason, I don’t feel wiki leaks is done yet.
They have Rove in their sights and if the Kochs think they can’t get to them, as well, if anything they communicate or do on networks is TCP/IP or UDP, they’re owned.
A goodnight chuckle.
Daddy is a Gay Dancer
A fourth-grade teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living.
All the typical answers came up – fireman, mechanic, businessman, salesman… and so forth. However, little Justin was being uncharacteristically quiet, so when the teacher prodded him about his father, he replied, “My father’s an Exotic Dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes to music in front of other men and they put money in his underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he will go home with some guy and stay with him all night for money.” The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and took little Justin aside. “Is that really true about your father?” “No,” the boy said, “He works for the Republican National Committee and is helping to get Romney elected, but it’s too embarrassing to say that in front of the other kids.”
LOL, yardarm. That is funny!!!!!!!!! Just saw this tweet on my FB page: “Rape is “God’s will” but homosexuality is my “choice”. Talk about making shit up as you go along.”
Ha! Yardarm – good one!
Well goodnight TOD See you tomorrow sometime!
am
lol, good one! Especially after I watched a movie just last night ‘Magic Mike’
))
And who is there among us – who hasn’t heard of it – not now looking for the trailer of “Magic Mike”? (Did I put that in writing?)
So. Very. Funny.
LOL. It’s homophobic though.
I agree amk. It is homophobic! My gay son is home right now, I’m going to ask him what he thinks….
Ok, just read this joke to my son and this is what he feels… This joke is using the wrong avenue in comparing gays to any candidate in a presidential election. Using a gay person as an example to be worse than a Romney presidency is wrong. So yes, it is a homophobic joke on all gays.
Yup. That’s my take. The joke makes it sound as though gays are the second worst thing. Just replace the dad with the mother and then you can see how offensive it is.
exactly, putting in the part about taking the man home for money also implies prostitution. Somehow I wonder if this joke didn’t originally come from a homophobic, republican/tea party thinker and someone replaced the last part “he works for the republican national committee” to make it into a democratic joke.
Opps!! I had a slightly different interpretation. What I heard was even a 4th grader knows having a gay dad is way cooler and MORE ACCEPTABLE than having a GOP dad. I saw it as the kid not wanting to get picked on because republicanism is definitely the new pathology, the new mentally deranged, the 21st century’s version of batshit crazy.
There ya go!
My take: I know no harm was intended, I could pretty much assert that nobody here is homophobic in their responses, and I looked at the embarrassment as being the “exotic dancer” part. Substitute “my mother was an exotic dancer” and you wouldn’t be putting down all mothers – it would be saying the exotic dancer part was embarrassing to a kid. I’m not gay and I can only speak for myself, but I hope this is how others might feel, including your son.
True, but I think the real negative part in this joke is the part about taking my dad home and paying him money.
I guess it is if you want it to be.
Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!
With asshole Romneys latest lie on the Jeep/Chrysler thing I can’t help think that these idiots are getting even more desperate to try and steal this election. They just keep throwing things out there that won’t stick. They are trying to hit the un-informed voters, un-decideds, swing voters with this bullshit. That is why everyone’s hard work for PBO is so very, very important and you all are doing a fantastic job with all that you do! It is so important to educate these people prior to election. The Romney campaign is going to pull every trick out of a hat that they possibly can now, and until election, which will backfire on him. With this latest they are surely showing desperation and willing to fuck with the car industry once again, and most of all fuck with the American people. This is going to backfire on them. It’s almost like, well if, we can’t win lets put the screws a little more to the people and give them a big huge middle finger. They act like a bunch of bullies and the end will only be a bunch of cry babies after they got beat.
Chris Christie praised PBO for his handling of the emergency response.
Christie must have been experiencing a sugar high from all those Krispy Kremes he’s been eating when he said that about PBO.
I’ll go with a ruder (Ha!) comment about Christie. When I saw him in his specially tailored emergency management oh-look-at-me jacket today, with CHRIS CHRISTIE GOVERNOR embroidered on it, I noticed the size of the letters had to be about as high as a New York skyscraper so you could even see them on that giant expanse of jacket. (I just made myself laugh.)
I think Krispy Kremes is praying that Romney loses so he can try and run in 2016.
You are probably right there Jeff, after all didn’t he just blow his own horn at the RNC? I think I remember reading he didn’t really mention ole mitt in his speech.
I guess he is learning how a real leader responds to a crisis and is getting some tips from PBO. Crap, is he trying to get his ice cream licks in for a Presidential campaign in 2016? Or is he genuinely concerned about New Jersey? Sorry, I don’t think there is one republican that is ok in my books.
Especially Christie. The guy is incredibly corrupt yet the media spins him as an honest man. This is the guy who said that organized crime is not a major problem anymore and two months later or so the DOJ did a major crime bust against organized crime.
Chris Christie has zero credibility on anything. He’s lied about President Obama. He is ambitious for the Presidency for all the wrong reasons, and has no competence to do the job. He’s a coward (why didn’t he run this time, if he thinks he can be President)? And he’s a bully. All the wrong characteristics for someone who’s supposed to serve the public.
I’ve seen him in a few videos where he lose’s it on the public asking him questions. Yeah, he acts very presidential.
Besides that, if he is thinking about a presidency he better take off some of his weight. He is far to heavy for leading America. Looks like he could drop anytime. I seriously don’t think Americans want this kind of guy in the whitehouse.
Even if Christie was slim as a rake, he does not have the integrity, character or motivation to lead the world. He has no business even having that ambition. In fact, he should never have become governor, since he really doesn’t seem to care about the people in his own state who need help, let alone the people of the entire country.
Please be aware theo, I’m thinking from a republican stand point in my thoughts, and I do agree with you on how crappy he is as a leader of his own state. But everyone knows how well the republicans pick their candidates. They chose the last one well, with a Sarah Palin VP pick, one heart beat away from her being the President. They are so careless, and all they think about is a win, it doesn’t matter about America. So what I am trying to say is they would pick a Christie with his loud mouth and then the American people would be looking at a very and extremely overweight man running the country.
Yup – I understand perfectly.
Christie came to California to bully us to support Meg Whitman. He was rude and obnoxious! We gave the bully the middle finger. He left our state with his tail between his legs.
there is absolutely no way he’s going to ever be president of the US. His inability to resolve his obesity tells me he has some mental health issues.
Before reading the above comments about Chris Cristie and his supersize ambition to land at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I just wrote to a friend how this man was a snake. What prompted my urge to write about him was his “support” for BO’s on the hurricane preparations. This is a guy who has been campaigning for the White House since he became governor. I live in NYC but still have to put up with ads taking about the great reformer that he is. Every week there is an ad talking about the supposed reforms he brings to NJ. That man should reform his weight and his waste, and those of his children.
Such a double face. One minute he is blasting Obama on behalf ot the other jerk of the Republican Party, the next he is praising the President. That man has not core but just too much fat all around him. He is a bully and one guy like so many that believes he has what it takes to ascend on the world stage. I am convinced he doesn’t have a mirror.
Reminds me of when Cheney invited in the oil companies to help write national energy policy.
Despite clear and accurate reporting, the take has given birth to a number of stories making readers believe that Chrysler plans to shift all Jeep production to China from North America, and therefore idle assembly lines and U.S. workforce. It is a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats.
Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.
They should have added “from the Romney campaign” at the end of that last sentence. Why not make it clear who has been telling the lies?
Anyone saw PBO’s Rolling Stone interview in the paper itself? The picture inside is to die for.
Nope – I’ll have to check that out! Thanks for the heads up.
Yes, I am salivating over it right now in my naughty little hands.

Well, we are batting down the hatches here in the DMV area. Keep us in your thoughts everyone. The entire region is closed down. All the schools, all public transportation, the federal & state government as well as most all of the private industries is closed tomorrow. Let’s hope this storm fizzles out but its not looking that way. They’ve told us to expect to lose power so if I do who knows when we’ll get it back,
Hoping for the best!
Good Night Everyone…
Best wishes to you all. Stay safe.
Stay safe and know that all of us are thinking of all of you.
Good luck there, hopefully this storm doesn’t hit as hard as forecasted.
Night DD4O, know that you, your family and CK and others will be in our thoughts. Hold each other close and don’t take any chances. Be safe!
You are all in our thoughts Donna! I have family in MD, DC, (a niece, grand niece and nephew) NY (daughter, nephew and his family and cousin and his family) and New Jersey (niece and husband and grand nieces). They are all on the edge. I hope everything will turn out well. We are praying for you. All the best! And thanks for all the wonderful job you’ve done on behalf of re-electing the President.
I thought New York (i.e. Bloomberg) was refusing federal assistance?
Not up to some piss ant mayor. It’s between the Feds and the state government. If Gov. Cuomo requests federal assistance, which he has, he will get it. Bloomberg can’t say boo about it.
Beautiful! What’s Bloomberg’s game, anyway?
He was going to complain about the lack of help – until the President called him – PBO helps everyone – as he is President for everyone
Any TODweb villager from TX? Please what is happening with Paul Sadler and the Ted Cruz senatorial campaign? I was just reading a Blog post at HP by a Beth Broderick. She is writing that Mr. Sadler is cash trapped and that some Conservative TBGOPers are throwing their support to Mr. Sadler for Ted Cruz is just saying some awful things.
Can anyone held educate Us on this and if this is true then, perhaps, we need to have send information out to get Mr. Sadler some help.

I checked several Texas Newspapers and did not see any mention of this major gaffe.
Well, I am off to bed for it is way past my bed time. I do hope that someone from TX chimes in for a true up date. Hopefully, with that information, I can also call Sen Dems to find out a tad more. The last time I did that was in 2009, and then, sen Menedez was the go to for Sen Dems getting elected ….his office was useless to me. I am not sure if Chuck Shummer(sp) is in charge for getting Sen Dems in. I will find out on Monday.
This is good way to end the night. Good place to be a week out from Election Day. Night all.
Buenas noches all you good folk whose eyes are still open. Hopefully we can all rendez-vous here later (fingers crossed).
I’m still here, but turning in soon.
Ho TOD Peeps! Thoughts & protective prayers for all those of you on the East Coast or have families on the East Coast. Exhausted but in a good way as it has been an intense GOTV weekend. Did 9-9 both Sat and Sunday at our staging location as a volunteer coordinator. We had almost 200 people each day rolling through in a non-stop stream to make calls for our Prez. At one point today we ran out of call sheets, we were so busy. Diversity of volunteers was AMAZING. Lots of families came through today with their kids who also made calls. We had one family that was 4 generations, daughter, mom, grandmom and 88 year old great-grandmom visiting CA from Jamaica. They were FIERCE!

#TrustBarack – He Has Trusted Each of US
Time for a bit of rest, but before that happens it’s really important to have every American realize that beyond Willard’s #ROMNESIA, i.e., his vast capacity for lying, he has demonstrated, repeatedly, his disdain for the United States of America and an insatiable appetite for exploiting Chinese laborers, especially women.
That is a much more dangerous and devastating disease than #ROMNESIA, so I call it #CHINESIA.
What he tried to claim Chrysler, and by extension, President Obama had enabled – outsourcing Chrysler/Jeep jobs to China – is EXACTLY what #Delphi has done – the same #Delphi that he is heavily invested and that not only took ‘Save Detroit’ bailout money, but has shipped 20K+ USA jobs to China.
Though little chance President Clinton will see or reference either of these tweets, they are an effort to crystallize the above facts …
#TrustBarack – Because We Can
Rest well everyone ….
#TrustBarack – He’s Earned It
I don’t like how close all the polls are. Not trying to be negative, just saying…why is it so close?
Iron fist please! No worry warting here…
Weird — tried it and I didn’t see that.
So Morning Joe aired the Obama interview while everyone was still in bed? Did anyone see it? Must have been on at the earliest hour. Unheard of. Wouldn’t you think they would want to air it later when they have more viewers and when they usually air their most high profile people? Unless they were trying to show Obama to the least amount of people. ?
I saw the very last seconds of it. There should be a repeat at 8:00AM EST-
Possibly because he is altering his schedule to return to DC now.
I live in Oregon and Morning Joe is on at 3am on my cable station. So I don’t have to worry about watching some show with a Republican host on it that raises my blood pressure. I like that just fine. I figured I’d see the interview on this blog. I also have the ability to use my tivo to record it if I feel I need to.
Hope TOD’ers in US are ok. Check in please whenever you can.
I wonder if the Weather Channel accepts political ads. I have only had the tv on these past few weeks for baseball and now it’s on The Weather Channel. I haven’t seen any political ads at all. LOL. I am sure many people in the swing states would be turning to that as a refuge from the deluge of political advertising if not to check weather updates!
Dotster, I had the same thought. I just watched it on The web and it was all of 12 minutes. Weird by design. Also, the media keeps talking about this tied poll in Ohio. Number one the poll is outdated and was conducted before the final debate. Number 2, there are about 5-6 polls conducted after that one….ALL in the President’s favor (not to mention early voting advantage). I swear all of the media’s spin and hot air has caused the hurricane. Romney’s losing and they know it. Joe was practically begging Chuck Todd to say the DMR endorsement is a bigger deal than it is. Forget about it.
How did That interview go with Moanin Joe?
I just woke up.
I see Politico only has us up 8 in early voting. They are the only poll that has us up in high single digits in early voting.
Every other poll, about ten of them, shows the President with High teen lead in early voting, but not Politico.
Smh!
And I quote from the Red Cross Web site:
It “impedes” relief efforts, it doesn’t help. The Red Cross prefers money because it’s far easier to handle, and can be spent where it’s most needed and on what is most needed.
Why didn’t the Romney campaign contact the Red Cross? Unless their goal was not to actually help people affected by Hurricane Sandy, but rather to use yet another national tragedy as an “opportunity.”
There’s that devastating word again: “opportunity.”
///
And putting aside for a moment the Romney campaign’s intent, they botched it either way. During a national crisis the Romney campaign didn’t have its act together enough to avoid sending the wrong signal to the American people. They sent the message that Americans should collect relief supplies, and that message will now hinder Hurricane Sandy relief.
He just had to stick his nose in it, as always.
These people are dangerous as candidates. Imagine what they’d do if they had any power.
For those wondering about the Morning Joe interview with Pres. Obama, they’ve aired some of it. The first question they asked him was about Benghazi and why was the administration waffling, dodging questions, being secretive and incompetent? I was like whoa…..WTF? Pres. Obama had this glint in his eyes like okay….I know what you’re doing. Here you go again. He told them he found it offensive that anyone would try to play politics with the tragedy that occurred in Benghazi. He said his administration has been on the case from day one and has shared all they know with congress as the ongoing investigation continues. He said they haven’t lied or hidden anything from the public and that everyone knows he means what he says when he told the nation that we’re going to after those who committed these atrocities.
He also talked about what he wants to achieve in a 2nd term. Immigration reform, Grand Bargain (Deficit Reduction), making sure Medicare and Medicaid works better for all, making sure that the republicans do not try to sneak in changing Medicare into a voucher system, continuing on with education reform, cutting down healthcare costs because right now healthcare is about 17% of GDP and that’s not good since healthcare costs in other industrialized nations is 11% of GDP and works better.
They’re about to air their interview with Valerie Jarrett and some more of Pres. Obama behind the scenes, interactions with the New Hampshire crowd etc. Even Joe was forced to admit that the Democrats are excited to vote for Pres. Obama and that Pres. Obama was looking confident, in command and in it to win it.
Thanks UT for the excellent summary – glad to hear that Moaning Joke and his flock were put squarely in their places by our Commander-in-Chief.
Thanks UT – no-one ever seems to ask Mitt those loaded questions – then again – he doesn’t give them the opportunity.
thx for the rundown UT!
Thanks for watching for me. My poor heart would’ve stopped beatingif I had to.
I don’t give a ralfalfa’s a…. how Mitt and Ann see President Obama – the world sees him as the man who stops the wars, recovers the economy and cares about people.
Well, we always knew Queen Ann wore the pants in that family. Wasn’t she the one who overrode Willard’s advisors and made the decision that Ryan should be on the ticket? At the beginning, when Willard was having trouble, wasn’t she the one who took the mic from him on stage and said from now on, she’d be doing the talking? I’m guessing Willard’s dislike of PBO was bred from Queen Ann’s own hatred of PBO. ha! I almost feel sorry for Willard.
So now you know how it’s all bs, even the ones showing our side as winning. GOTV. The only poll that counts is on 6th Nov.
AMEN!!!!!!
Yep. I am so !FIREDUP! seeing all these early voting people! It’s fabulous!
I saw that—–and other polls’ response percentage is likely similar. What a racket—-all these polls. There cannot be any reliable truth to be gleaned when such a tiny percentage is responding.
Yup, shrinking pool of relevance. I am betting people like nate silver will be out of business by 2016.
I see Politico only has us up 8 in early voting. They are the only poll that has us up in high single digits in early voting.
Every other poll, about ten of them, shows the President with High teen lead in early voting, but not Politico.
Smh!
you mean GOPolitico.
Morning everyone!
