    http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11/03/14907213-biden-zings-romney-in-colo?lite?ocid=twitter

Three days before the election, Vice President Joe Biden pegged his newest critique of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to the semi-annual inconvenience of adjusting clocks for Daylight Savings Time, which occurs tonight.
“It’s Mitt Romney’s favorite time of the year — because he gets to turn the clock back!” Biden told a crowd of hundreds at a suburban Denver high school.
In his remarks, the vice president accused Romney of embracing social policies out of an earlier era, pointedly noting the GOP nominee’s voiced enthusiasm for “getting rid of” Planned Parenthood.
“With all the issues facing the country, Gov. Romney has focused on for the last three months [that] he’s going to get rid of Planned Parenthood” Biden said. “And by the way, he doesn’t even know he doesn’t control Planned Parenthood.”
“He should talk to Big Bird!” he added, referencing the scuffle over public broadcasting funding that broke out during one of the presidential debates.
(In context, Romney said last spring he was going to “get rid” of federal funding for Planned Parenthood, not get rid of the entity itself.)
Biden has two events scheduled in swing state Colorado Saturday. He will campaign Sunday in Ohio.

This is how EFFECTIVE govt is SUPPOSED to work!

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/christie-still-very-satisfied-with-obama-s-sandy

At a news conference Saturday in Little Ferry, N.J., the state’s Gov. Chris Christie again praised the help he has received from President Obama in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

“I’m still very satisfied with the professional relationship I have with the President,” Christie said.

The governor said there were some things the federal government was initially slow to respond to this week. But after telling the President about them in a phone call, he said, federal officials called a short time later to take care of the issues.

Yes Indeed, Mary J! This is a great tweet! Defeating the Kochs and other billionaires will be President Obama’s greatest accomplishment for the people of this country. We finally got a president who believes in us ordinary people and not in the moneyed interest intent on buying our government.

I’ll be honest I haven’t worked as hard for the President this election as I did in 2008- not for lack of wanting too… in 08 I knocked on a lot of doors in ND.. this year I’ve only been able to donate bits of money because of my personal goings on… but I do talk to everyone I come in contact with. Today it was my garbage collectors.. they told me they have tuesday off for voting- they’re union (I love that) one of them had already voted early & the other is set to vote tuesday.. both of course for Obama :) you know I asked.

Have I mentioned that I love Baltimore?? Not quite in love with my house as of yet… but working on that ;)

You know Sherijr, just talking to people you come into contact with is just as important as knocking on doors or making a phone call. I’ve been talking to young people at my school. Frankly I’ve been impressed by how many of them are very much tuned into voting. Last week, this young man who is in the marines and is stationed here in San Diego told me that he was on his way to mail his absentee ballot to Florida and that he voted for the President. He also told me that, contrary to what we hear from the media, President Obama has strong support from young people who are still on active duty in the military. He is from Pensacola, FL and he is convinced that President Obama will win Florida.

You know what infuriates me about Kid Rock? He basically started out as a white rapper, a la Eminem. His early music—which he still plays—was influenced heavily by hip hop. Now, the entire world raps, but obviously rap started across the river from me in the South Bronx in the AA community. So, he appropriated a product of black culture, made a killing off of it, and is now supporting a party that sees that culture as alien and worthy of suppression. Fucking scumbag.

Taking a break from canvassing and making GOTV calls. Floridians are so hilarious. It’s been so much fun making calls into Florida. A lot of them have early voted and they’re so excited. I got a guy who told me that hell yes he’s voting for Pres. Obama because America needs Romney like a hole in the head. I cracked up super hard. I’ve gotten some old people who are pumped up for Pres. Obama. They are so mad at Romney because they feel that he treats them as though they’re stupid. They’re mad that he picked Paul Ryan which automatically threatens their Medicare and they’re mad that one minute he says something, then he takes it back, then he says another thing. They feel he doesn’t stand for anything and just kowtows to the extreme rightwing of his party.

I got a woman who said she is staunch Pres. Obama and that her husband is undecided but leaning Obama. I volunteered to talk with him but she was like oh honey don’t you worry. I’m dragging his ass to the poll on tuesday and he is voting for Pres. Obama. I’m not going to allow him to mess with our future and our children’s future. I got another woman who said she’s voted and her husband’s voted and she dragged her two sons to the polls and they voted for Pres. Obama too. She was hilarious. I got a guy who said he made sure everyone in his house voted early. He said they all didn’t care that the lines were long. Anything to reelect Pres. Obama. They were all clued in on the issues and a lot of them are mad at how despicably Pres. Obama has been treated by the rightwing so they don’t care if they have to wait in line for 4 hours.

I also got college kids who were like hell yeah we’re voting for Pres. Obama. We can’t stand that lying Romney. He’s a snake! I got a few republicans who obviously voted for Romney, but were too ashamed to say that they voted for him. They would just get very huffy and snippy and say yes they’ve voted but wouldn’t mention his name.

Pres. Obama’s supporters are proud to say they’ve voted for him or are voting for him on Tuesday. It’s fantastic. At my volunteering location we have all sorts of people. People of different ages, races, and genders. It’s soooooo much fun. Everyone is so clued in. The old ladies around me are so sweet. They all watch MSNBC – Rev. Al, Martin Bashir, Maddow, etc. They watch Real Time with Bill Maher and loooooove his salty language. They also know about Nate Silver’s 538 blog. They are so clued IN.

They’re all confident that Pres. Obama will WIN. They despise Donald Trump, Romney, and the GOP. They’re all telling me, yes we watch the pundits but we KNOW we’re going to win all the battleground states. These pundits all just want a horserace so they’re hyping it up. Pres. Obama is going to WIN. They’re soooo sweet and soooo hilarious.

Back to making more GOTV calls. See you later TOD! :D

No one’s home in Milwaukee (or vicinity) right now. Hope that means they’re at the Obama rally—–and not just at Target, or something. :) All contacts till now are Obama voters who all know how important it is that they show up to vote—–and I made that abundantly clear also. Only one “real low info” voter who said he thought he was going to vote for Willard (from Waukesha, not surprisingly). I think I may have scared him straight tho. :) My loud “YIKES!” response got his attention right off the bat.

Did you send this along to Axlerod and Messina? I have a feeling they’re up on it, but it strengthens them to know others know too. I know the Obama campaign has their lawyers ALL over Ohio and other DOJ reps will be monitoring this election there. SOS Husted cannot hide this time. In 2000 we were not ready, this year I think we are.
You’re right, that is frightening. To destroy people’s votes is criminal. I’ve wondered for two weeks where are these ballots being kept?

I read recently the number of lawyers and DOJ observers being sent just to Ohio…..don’t remember how many, but the number is substantial. The Obama campaign is well aware of what’s happening there! And Ed Schultz and Rev. Al has been all over this situation. The more attention, the better. Republicans are used to operating in the dark. We have shone a big light on to their nefarious activities this year! Like cockroaches, they will be scurrying.

    Hey Chipsticks,
I’m just checking in today to tell you that I spent my birthday (hint, hint :) ) today canvassing in Appleton WI with my brother. We are going out tomorrow morning again. It was great – lots of enthusiasm and I got three new registrations! Our purpose was solely to make sure the registered Dems on our list had decided when they were voting on Tuesday. So these 3 were people in the house who weren’t on our list who wanted to vote for the president.

It’s so fun to share this experience with my brother – his wife is a big supporter but would rather do it financially then canvass.

Here’s some good news on Colorado early voting I just read on Twitter:

OFA is packed today. We have about 80 computer stations to make calls in the “main room” and they were all taken. We have two large extra rooms for phonebanking using call sheets and people were sitting on the floor because every corner in that office was taken. Food was being delivered by the boatloads. I’m told that a large group of canvassers went out to Va at 8:00 and as I was arriving another group left the office headed for Northern Virginia. I swear there had to be well over 300 people in that office today. I’m exhausted. Our office has made over 5500 calls today and counting. The work these volunteers do day-in-and-day-out is nothing short of commendable. Students that have taken the semester off to volunteer for PBO. Seniors that normally volunteer with some really great non-profit organizations have suspended their assistance to donate their full time to the re-election of President Obama. Homemakers and retirees that commit ALL of their time to OFA and those of us that just do what we can when we can. These are some of the most generous, heartwarming, dedicated people that you will ever encounter.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have shared this experience with many of them. I guess I’m feeling a little nostalgic today.

Now I must go eat because pizza and subs are not part of my daily diet. Salad with honey glazed grilled chicken….yummmmm!!!

maybe i’ve been seeing the election as the end point of this big push. but our president will continue to need our support for his policies. the organizations that have arisen to elect him can help him get the work done after the election, too. he’ll need us, and we’ll need each other.

so i salute you and all those fine people who are crowding the ofa to bring this win home, and i feel the fresh breeze of the next four years stirring, with all of us still engaged, still believing, still getting his back. aloha oe~

For now, we stay focused on Tuesday, then we rest (after celebrating) and roll up our sleeves for the next battle.

Hello, Chipsters and TOD family – I am outraged, sick to my stomach .. have you seen this ????

    http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/11/03/1134981/last-minute-ohio-directive-could-trash-legal-votes-and-swing-the-election/

“A last-minute directive issued by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted could invalidate legal provisional ballots. Ohio is widely viewed as the most critical state for both presidential campaigns and — with some polls showing a close race — the 11th-hour move could swing the entire election.
The directive, issued Friday, lays out the requirements for submitting a provisional ballot. The directive includes a form which puts the burden on the voter to correctly record the form of ID provided to election officials. Husted also instructed election officials that if the form is not filled out correctly by a voter, the ballot should not be counted.”

I can’t believe that this is happening ! So worried …

I’m certain that the DOJ is on this. The only thing better than that slimey cheating SOB getting found out…would be to see that slimey, lying SOB’s ass in jail.

    • 147 Bill R.
      November 3, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Look, let’s not fear monger. The DOJ people are on the case, and an army of PBO lawyers have been sent to OH. They are appealing this decision, which was reversed by an appeals court. That said, the margin of victory will overcome these relatively small number of provisional ballots.

    • 149 carolyn
      November 3, 2012 at 5:18 pm

gitte, see some comments above. Yes, this is sickening, yes, I think it is criminal. But, I do not believe he can do this with impunity. The Obama campaign has its lawyers and DOJ people all over Ohio. Jon Husted has tried for two years now to invalidate people’s votes, and makeit almost impossible to vote. Four and eight years ago, these things happened in the dark. Today, the light is shining on him. Either the Obama campaign, or the ACLU, or someone who can, will deal with this legally. I suspect a federal judge will stop this action by Sunday or Monday.
This is not how democracy should work. I believe that if he tries to stop votes, the voter reaction will make Ohio’s campaign two years ago to stop the anti-union legislation look like child’s play.

    From our Dashboard:

    To: Interested Parties
From: Mitch Stewart, Jeremy Bird, Marlon Marshall
Re: Brick-By-Brick: Building a Ground Game for 270

This morning, as our volunteer Neighborhood Team Leaders opened 5,117 get-out-the-vote
(GOTV) staging locations in the battleground states that will decide this election, they began to
execute the final phase of a ground game unlike any American politics has ever seen. These
staging locations are even more localized versions of our field offices – set up in supporters’
homes, businesses or any area that can serve as a central hub for a team’s GOTV activities in the
    final days.

From these hyper-local Obama hubs, volunteers have signed up for 698,799 shifts to get out the
vote over the final four days of this campaign, a number that grows by the minute as organizers
continue assigning supporters who have expressed an interest in volunteering. These volunteerled
GOTV staging locations embody what this campaign has been all about since we started
organizing for change in 2007. The Neighborhood Team Leaders who are running our get-outthe-
vote operation have been working in these neighborhoods for months, if not years.
Since we launched the re-election campaign in April 2011, those teams have been focused like a
laserbeam on three things: 1) expanding the electorate by registering new voters, 2) persuading
undecided voters, and then 3) turning out our supporters. On all three fronts, these volunteers
have blown away our most optimistic expectations.

I love Katy’s campaign dresses, I’ve seen her in a white one as well. I want one too!

She’s really cute, isn’t she? She has the perfect figure for those dresses—-not too skinny, just right. And even better—–giving her time and talent to help President Obama.

Last batch of calls—–almost everyone said “Of course!” when I asked if they’re voting for President Obama. Found one young Wi. guy in Vegas—–he said he made sure he voted for Obama before he left, he apologized for not being around to volunteer, but see, this opportunity arose for this little jaunt and…….he’s having a great time!— in case anyone’s wondering. (I wasn’t. I already knew.)

Everyone need to chill out about rigging votes and other shenanigans supposedly going on, I’m going to put my trust in the guy that was cracking jokes the night before Osama bin Laden got his dome split.

That a wise decision on what to do with one’s money.
The money Romney’s Millionaires wasted on his failed campaign is so disgusting!

Apparently the Republicanfundraisers have used far less of the money for candidates than the Dems.

so true! i kept waiting (fool) for robmey to pull out his checkbook at one of his sandy campaign events. he wants to help the victims? just demonstrate to your rich friends how to write a big check to the red cross. but no, of course not. crappy back-of-the-cupboard canned goods and tired blankets.

Great tweet, Mary Jones! It’s so sad that right wingers have programed many Americans to hate government “of the people, by the people and for the people.”

    Romney, contempt, and the electorate

    By pm carpenter

    —————————–

I would, however, defend him to this extent: his contempt for the electorate is not entirely ill-founded or unwise. After all, he’s got nearly half of it rooting for a first-rate, bona-fide, shape-shifting snake-oil salesman.

And who’s to blame for that?

this is hilarious–lyin ryan’s leaked through friends that after robmey loses, he might just quit the house—because they basically don’t want a loser hanging around.

“They say that if he fails, Ryan’s instincts will be to return to the House — he is running for re-election to his House seat at the same time he’s Romney’s running mate — and resume his role as Budget Committee chairman… A return also would make Ryan a leading target for Democrats… That is why some of Ryan’s biggest boosters are considering whether it wouldn’t be better for Ryan to resign from the House. He could write a book — ‘saving America’ is a theme often bandied about — or teach at a university.”

I finally hit my twitter wall for the day with this story –

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/art-levine/mia-in-voting-machine-war_b_2054411.html?utm_hp_ref=tw

Thanks for all the RTs – if everyone is aware and screaming about it – hopefully all the GOP SOSs will be watched, and there will be a judge SOMEWHERE that demands some programmers audit THE DAMN “proprietary” code before Tuesday.

The more people who KNOW about this, the faster something is likely to happen.

    Thanks everyone. Now GOTV!!!!
