Last poll I saw she was up 10. She should win. Some billionaire had a bunch of extra millions he didn’t need and dumped a boatload of cash on Crazy Joe so have been inundated with his ads to the very end, even today. This should be the last of him, hopefully, forever and ever, amen.
It happened late, though (although they were uber-disgusting).
I thought Tammy’s ads were more effective than the other Dem’s in NE Illinois. I think Dem’s blew it up here where I work in fighting Dold & Biggert. Seriously — no one cares if someone voted a raise for themselves — that’s so 1996. But I’m really confident that Tammy will win and win big.
Well, he’s a former patron whom we’ve stopped helping. We call him “Eckhart Tolle Guy”. He’s elderly, very loud, and wants us to find him Tolle videos on Youtube since he knows nothing of computers. We finally told him no, as someone would have to hover over him for an hour, so now he’s pissed off.
Hello TODers, Just finished voting for PBO and VPBiden. It felt soo good. I also couldnt contain myself as I voted for Elizabeth Warren. It only took ten minutes the lines were minimal.
Hi Chips. You belong in the Obama’s Hall of Fame for your yeoman’s work and sacrifice of love.
Question: how do you plan on following the returns tonight? I can’t decide as I think the election may be called an hour or so later than in 2008 and I’m on my last exposed nerve with the MSM and their inanities.
I’m too slow. Keep posting then there’s a new thread! You are working hard today Chips! One more time.
Took off work last week and yesterday to work for OFA in VA. I live in MD. I am physically exhausted. Volunteered to work until noon today. I drove elderly folks to the polls this morning. I sure hope we win VA. I have worked my hump off and donated over 10K to this campaign. We will win!!
Wow, claire 10K….amazing! That makes my about $250 not look like so much! I am really proud that I kept up donating every month. My husband and I have never given that much money to any political candidate before! I also donated monthly to elizabeth warren. iIsure hope she wins too!
The amount doesn’t matter, it’s the heart and dedication you put into supporting the Pres. Obama. It’s because of him that I had such a good year and could donate. I donated to Warren too. Love her!
Claire you’re a hero. Voted Prez, then Dem all the way down to dog catcher. Drove folks to polls since am, now gonna go handout Dem sample ballots at voting precinct until 6pm. We gotta leave everything on the road.

Go to:

Then enter:

And, the various options will appear. Ballots must be postmarked today (extra postage required because of the weight of the printout ballot, btw) or numerous drop boxes exist throughout the County and ballots just need to be in the dropbox before 8p PST.

great point. i still think we have a chance to get the house today, since i think so much of the polling is corrupted, but even if not, i’ve been thinking about what plan president obama has to deal with a republican-house for the next two years (again, if!), and what he’s going to do to make sure we don’t have a repeat of 2010 midterms. you know he’s a got plan that will surprise the opponents. forward forever!!

Still calling FL. Lower than usual response rate, lots of messages left. Majority I wpoke with had early voted for PBO, some had already been out this morning to vote and some planning for this afternoon. Forward!
Just want to say for what it’s worth. During morning worship, my Pastor asked all congregants to stand who had already voted. 90% of us stood. I voted absentee earlier last month but I received a call today as well. Message was left because I dont answer unrecognized numbers nor do I answer my door for unexpected visitors. When you have had a deceased parent scammed, you become not so trusting. So OFA voter info might not have been updated or they might not have the current info if an absentee ballot had been cast or not.

Update 6, 9:17 a.m. PST, November 6: Polling troubles emerge in key states; watchdogs report “thousands” of calls
The Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights says it fielded thousands of calls Tuesday morning from voters around the country, including in Pennsylvania and Ohio: voters turned away from the polls because they lacked photo ID, voters facing polling places with inadequate staff and equipment, and voters whose polling stations opened late. Adam Serwer has more details here.
Update 5, 8:36 a.m. PST, November 6: Conservative group’s poll-watching operations—focused on black neighborhoods—blocked in Ohio
True the Vote, a conservative group that sees itself as fighting voter fraud but that voting rights groups see as engaging in voter suppression, has been denied its application to place observers at polling places in Franklin County, Ohio, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The Franklin County Board of Elections said that the requests were not properly filed. Not only that, but the Dispatch reports that county officials said that some of the names on True the Votes applications may have been falsified, and that the group could be investigated after the election.
A crucial detail about True the Vote’s intentions: Many of the requests, according to the Dispatch, were to observe polling stations in predominantly black neighborhoods. True the Vote emerged in the aftermath of the 2008 election, when many conservatives had been convinced that the now-defunct community organizing group ACORN had illegally influenced the outcome. They set a goal of fielding thousands of poll watchers in 35 states on Election Day.

Here’s more of our recent coverage to get you up to speed on voter suppression tactics that may affect Election 2012:
A look at 10 of the top dirty tricks used to swing elections, including deceitful robocalls and flyers, making voter registration more difficult, purging voter rolls, and deploying poll “watchers” with ulterior motives.
In the crucial battleground state of Ohio, intimidating billboards placed in minority communities have warned that voter fraud is a felony.
A federal judge partially overturned Pennsylvania’s voter ID law, but that hasn’t stopped state officials from running misleading ads suggesting otherwise.
Felon disenfranchisement laws across most of the country have made significant populations ineligible to vote on Tuesday. The most stringent such laws are in Kentucky, and in the swing states of Florida, Virginia, and Iowa.
GOP officials in Texas and Iowa have threatened to arrest international election observers who have been coming to the United States without incident since 2002.
Despite that very little voter fraud exists, paranoia about it is a bipartisan phenomenon.
Kevin Drum considers how a national ID could end the voter fraud wars.

A VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA FLIPS TO A VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY (Never the other way around, interesting……)
Life Imitates Art – Voting Machine Edition
By Steve Benen
————————————
NBC News has confirmed that a Pennsylvania voter recorded this video today, using a voting machine’s touch screen to vote for Obama/Biden, though the machine automatically interprets this as a vote for Romney/Ryan. Just like Homer Simpson, this Pennsylvania voter keeps saying he wants to support Obama, and the machine keeps saying otherwise.
The machine in question was reportedly taken out of service once the voter brought it to the attention of elections officials.
Handy link for poll watching: http://www.statelocalgov.net/50states-secretary-state.cfm The best information on elections comes straight from the source: the Secretary of State of each state. Before depending on the media to tell what is what…go to the same place they go to get info.
My sister (white, 60-ish) stood outside of her polling place for a couple of hours today (city outside of Charlotte, NC) to hand out info cards from the DNC. Before she got there, she said a very, very petite 30-ish AA woman had been handing out the cards, the only one there early a.m. who was representing the Democratic party headquarters. Before my sister got there, the woman was being harassed by three “big, burly Republicans” who were saying awful things in her direction, so the other woman called the Dem Hqs and they sent a gentleman staffer to stand with her, and the bullying stopped. I was afraid for my sister before she signed up for a shift, because she does not suffer fools gladly! Good for these two women to stand their ground in front of the “gun toting, Bible clutching” idiots who think like Romney and the others in the name of “Freedom.”
I had emailed the FBI phone number to my sister, which she showed to the two others in case needed, but – luckily – the problem dissolved, at least when they were there. This kind of crap is gonna happen in pockets all over the country, all day.
I’m currently making calls to Florida, PA and NC. Mixing it up and moving from one list to the other. I’ve canvassed this election season in Philadelphia and in Charlotte, NC and both times I met people that were really fired up and ready to vote for the president. And then I met people that are “sporadic” voters in the extreme. They wanted to vote for the president but one of them didn’t know what day was the last day to vote aka election day! No jokes. Another voter didn’t realize she actually had to vote – she thought filling out her voter registration was all she needed to do to show her preference for the president. Today, I was going to do election protection in Philly but my mum just got discharged from the hospital today. She voted absentee and is resting well. I don’t want to leave her alone so I’m working the phones today from home. Spoke to one voter in PA this morning who confirmed she voted at 7am. We talked and she decided she couldn’t just seat at home and be nervous. So she’s headed out to the local OFA office and is now canvassing her neighborhood. She has me fired up and ready to make some more calls! It’s really simple and most people are really nice so jump in and see how it goes http://my.barackobama.com/Election-Day-Calls
I am sitting here on this beautiful day all hydrocodoned up and kicking myself for not being able to phonebank as I had previously signed up to do. Why? I cracked my tooth all the way to the root last night, inadvertently biting hard on a stone in my rice dish, and therefore had to go straight to the dentist after voting this morning. My face feels like an embalmed corpse.
Just praying the anesthesia wears off and the pain subsides before the election results start coming in this evening. It took several shots to completely numb me, so it’s gonna take a while to wear off. Ugghh
Meanwhile it’s my son’s 25th birthday today and we had all planned to feast at home while watching election results. But the dentists says I should only drink liquids today. Is he kidding?
Ok I feel a little better venting to you guys about my partially horrible day. Only Pres Obama’s electric victory smile will wash it all away. But I have to wait 8.5. more hours from now to see him. But it’s well worth the wait and the pain. I’ll never forget this day.
Hey family…Just off the phone with my daughter who is in college in California (we’re in Michigan). LOTS ‘O tears. Her first time voting. She had to fill out a provisional ballot because her name wasn’t on the list. This is after months of checking and double checking with the LA registration office. Of course I assured her that she’s fine and there was probably a glitch in the system because all of the back and forth happened within the last 3 months versus 6 months or a year ago. Any other words of comfort i can pass on to baby girl?

An Allegheny County judge issued an order to halt electioneering outside a polling location in Homestead.
County officials received a complaint shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday that Republicans outside a polling location on Maple Street in Homestead were stopping people outside the polls and asking for identification.
Just returned from voting for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden and the Democratic ticket in my very red precinct. It felt SO good!!! My husband and I stood in line about an hour, a small amount of time compared to many other places. Saw one other certain Obama vote in the line. Imagine there were more than our three, I hope so at least.
Every time I vote I think about my grandmothers who couldn’t vote until 1920. In 1914 my one grandmother put up a sign for Woodrow Wilson in her window, doing her bit because she couldn’t vote. My other grandmother, the Vermont one, was a suffragette. I would never betray those women by not voting!

Great, but will be better when we start getting election results and President Obama is re-elected. Feeling very optimistic.
do not trust anything that guy says. ever.
I agree about that shifty-eyed hasbeen/wannabe/neverwas Rendell. But I like what he said THIS TIME ONLY, if true.
He said it was up at least 20%, and that there was no way we would lose PA.
Nice to hear that, instead of him giving DimMitt advice on how to win the state.

NPR is reporting that voters in Belmont, Massachusetts were asked to leave the voting line so Mittens can vote without rubbing elbows with the riffraff. Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden stood in line with regular folks to cast his ballot at his polling place.”
“Mitt even votes like an asshole”
Not sure why Mitt had to resort to closing poll place, he could have just set up velvet ropes blocking himself off from “you people”.
have mercy–please tell me this is the last day on earth when this puke’s antics will be of any interest whatsoever.
Probably afraid he’d get egged or something.
Why again is Romney running to be the President? It’s obvious he cannot stand us (the people who he has to deal with every day if he wins)!
sometimes i regret the existence of twitter and Nate Silver and all these prediction machines. I feel that it can breed complacency because people are just so hyped on these predictions so it’s almost like they forget that the caveat for these predictions is the expectation that people actually GOTV!!!!! SMH
Good point.
sweet–thanks chips.
Still calling FL. Lower than usual response rate, lots of messages left. Majority I wpoke with had early voted for PBO, some had already been out this morning to vote and some planning for this afternoon. Forward!
same here.
I think it’s bc it’s the middle of the day and hopefully people are out voting or working then going to vote.
Hopefully that means the people not answering are at the polls.
THE DIRTIEST ELECTION EVER??

MoJo’s Brief Guide to Voter Suppression Tactics
———————————-
Here’s more of our recent coverage to get you up to speed on voter suppression tactics that may affect Election 2012:
Kevin Drum considers how a national ID could end the voter fraud wars.

but this is not about Voter Fraud …this is about voter suppression….limiting early voting is not about voter fraud…it is about Voter Suppression….IT IS ABOUT SILENCING THE VOICE OF CERTAIN AMERICANS….
MSNBC reporting that Florida is on pace for record turnout. 9 million-plus expected.
Wow ….. please let that be a very good thing.
I’d sure like some info on that area that is much more heavily Hispanic now than it was in 2008. I haven’t found any information.

Just sent that to some “cat lovers” I know! (Of course, they’ve already voted … )
More emails goin’ out! Ha!
Good for your sister! Those jerks were nothing but bullies — typical Rethugs.
Well, you’d better start planning which liquids..wine, perhaps?
The evil dentist’s instructions say no alcohol. It’s a conspiracy, I tell you.
BABE!!!! I am so sorry!!!!! Champagne is a liquid.
“I cracked my tooth all the way to the root last night”
Zizi!!!! No!!! I felt weak even reading that
You poor thing.
Thanks for your sympathy
Oh, zizi!!!! That is so unfortunate. Happy Birthday to your son (he shares his BD with my wife’s
)
Take care!!!!

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Will the medication at least let you sleep so that you can ‘kill’ some time that way?

This is the info I was looking for! FL could be the surprise tonight:
MSNBC saying very high turnout in West Cincinnati.
I have been swamped with work today which is a good thing because it keeps my mind off the election. Can someone give me an update on turnout, etc.?
Very high turnout in Toledo and Cleveland. Florida could experience record turnout.
Same thing happened to my son going to college in San Francisco. He voted just fine in 2008!
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/11/06/the-people-speak/
An Allegheny County judge issued an order to halt electioneering outside a polling location in Homestead.
County officials received a complaint shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday that Republicans outside a polling location on Maple Street in Homestead were stopping people outside the polls and asking for identification.
More shenanigans here: http://triblive.com/news/adminpage/2904078-74/outside-county-identification-judge-polls-order-asking-homestead-voters-allegheny#axzz2BSai8do7
Just returned from voting for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden and the Democratic ticket in my very red precinct.
Good Afternoon TOD family. Voted this morning. Justing getting home from doctor appt., and some errands for special foods. Great beautiful day out here on westcoast. I will tell you a little story on the next thread.HZ
