OBAMA is going to win this thing!
AND YES WE CAN AGAIN!!
Way to go jeff.
Hey Jeff, congrats.
Win BIG I hope.
Congrats on first Jeff!
Let it be so!
Top 10 again?
so far indiana though isn’t looking very blue.
Indiana has never been “blue” … the ones to keep our eyes on: WISCONSIN, IOWA AND OHIO!!! ONWARD TO VICTORY!!!!!!!
Obama eked out a win there last time—spent a lot of time in the state. Nothing this time. The only interesting thing about In. will be the expected Dem senate win.
First reports are always Kentucky and Indiana and are always RED.
can’t they ever go blue?
Well, yes in the case of Indiana, but the trend is predominantly RED.
the only thing to look for in Indiana is the Senate race with Mourdock.
Let’s be reasonable
looks like Mourdock might be winning :(
I’m so excited…………Must Pace my wine drinking!!!
Alright, I was not gonna watch the returns. I’m a sensitive soul and hate anticipation, but I decided to put on my big girl panties and “woman-up” and just get over it.
let’s do this.
my big girl panties and “woman-up……
See what an extra year can do for you, Lamh – and just in time too!
Having absolute faith in the might of right. PBO is the right man for the job and the role of president and leader of the free world.
Bill Maher is on HP turned off that idiot.
IT’S TIME FOR THIS!
TY, PF58! Exactly what the doctor ordered! By the time I’d shimmied along, my stomach felt better. You might need to prescribe this periodically throughout the night.
not a problem.. .:-)
Optimistic but the butterflies just arrived :-).
kinda feeling the same here … only cuz … even though, I know PBO has this win :)
With all their suppression and, perhaps (I’m a scientist and without actual evidence, at this point it’s anecdote), cheating ….
Breaking: Leaked Romney internal poll numbers on CNN. Obama was 5% ahead in Ohio, even according to Romney's campaign!— John (@linnyitssn) November 06, 2012
… they evidently know they already now they are sucking wind in OH …
Interesting 6 point swing from yesterday, eh?
bull, they leak these things to try to get people to stop voting. it’s why I’m not posting exit polls on my facebook page. I want people to continue voting don’t get out of those lines.
It’s 30 min from close of polls in OH and from all the reports of today, this isn’t going to stop anyone from voting.
I’m hungry! Going off in search of food, then semi-party on the couch … a little work, a little election watchin’, a little wine, a little grub.
See ya later for the victory dance!
Get back here!!
Ok let’s do this, first polls close in 5 mins!!
Ohio and North Carolina: Polls close at 7:30pm ET, and you can vote as long as you're in line before then. Go vote now, and spread the word!— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) November 06, 2012
so I never watch teevee punditry ever.. which makes me oblivious to all the bs- so I’m just fine Chips :) Have been relaxed & hopeful alll day,.. took a little snooze- am feeling a few butterflies now as we get closer. don’t trust the repubs & the shenanigans I’ve read going on w/ PA, etc.. but I feel the news about voter turnout across the country is a sure sign that folks are firedup.. and imo that is good for our side.
I’m with you, sherijr.
ditto….they are on mute!!…..about to make me a cocktail
I’m doing fine! Super excited! We’re having chili tonight and have lined up the fat tire and tequila for when the returns start coming in.
Okay I’m getting a little paranoid. I sent my vote-by-mail ballot a week ago, yet the country online tracker still says mine hasn’t been received. And I live in CA…
Can I have that link please?
Received by Registrar: 10/20/2012
The President won 18-29 year olds 60-37.
BIG REMINDER- When the VA results come in, don’t freak out at the early numbers, they come from the R areas. The later numbers will be the Obama strongholds in the North part of the state.
We’re having Obama cake for dessert tonight. :)
Although I’m kinda sad to cut it.
  Whose idea was it, yours?
Refreshing like hell. Following on BBC website and here, keeping an eye on Twitter too.
@JeffersonObama is the best one to follow: has a handle on polls, demographics. His prediction: 332 EV
No more phone banking YAH!!!!!!! No more hangups from snippy Rombot supporters! On a more serious note I am on pins and needles, I won’t be watching the results on TV. Talked to my sister down in Ohio she just finished four hours of canvassing, and now she’s all cozied up with the national news, I don’t see how she can stand it!
Pres. Obama wins Vermont. Virginia is too close to call.
BBC hasn’t updated their map. Grr…Any suggestions for a better place?
Va.—too close to call.
Obama workers in Richmond, VA tell me turnout unbelievably high in black neighbourhoods. Poss 75-80% #election2012 http://t.co/FPT77x8p— Jon Sopel (@BBCJonSopel) November 06, 2012
I fully expect the networks to call all the swing states “too close to call” so that they can keep “anticipation”
Okay. Top 40?
AP also calls for Bernie Sanders in VT.
I am doing just fine, Ms. Chips. Thanks for asking. I don’t know what I am going to since I can’t stand to hear the voices of some at MSNBC. I am hoping that by 10PM, the race will be called and I can tolerate the commentary for a while.
Doing great, Chips. Not watching any news media only this blog and a little twitter. And Tia and Tamera for light-hearted laughs.
Vermont has gone Obama!
How the fuck does the media have any say about states who’s polls closed 4 minutes earlier?
It has to be exit polling. Really, they need to cut this shit out. All this BS for ratings. Ugh.
Must be moving into prime time!
This is why I vowed to stay away from the MSM all day today.
NBC reports Romney wins Indiana and Kentucky according to Twitter. No surprises there.
OK, also according to Twitter, CNN has projected Kentucky, not sure about Indiana.
Trying to remain calm
I’m  Well, on the outside I am. My stomach’s jumping a wee bit BUT THAT’S BECAUSE THEY WON’T GET STARTED!!! I hate suspense. I CAN’T HANDLE IT!! Which is why I stay away from suspenseful scenarios! If it wasn’t for PBO, I’d go to bed or go and read, then see the final results tomorrow. Please tell PBO he owes me big time!! Phew! Stomach’s a little less wobbly….for now. Thing is I know he’s going to win; they know it too, so why string it out?
Poor little David Gergen having a sad …
David Gergen: 'exit polls bad news for Romney' And bad news for Romney is good news for humanity!! #Obama2012— John (@linnyitssn) November 07, 2012
KIds, remember this election: No matter who wins, it's the last one in which white men were considered the most important people in America.— Ana Marie Cox (@anamariecox) November 07, 2012
Well at least SC wasn’t called as soon as the polls closed lol. I guess that made me feel better than in the past.
Haha, are you from SC?
Yes unfortunately, but my hometown state is NC and now I wish I was there in a “swing state” lol.
I’m so nervous. Maybe I shouldn’t watch MSNBC pundits.
Yeah…I’m listening to them too and I’m about ready to turn them off.
oh, I forgot to share…my nephew voted for the first time today. YEAH!! I am so proud.
For any ‘non-Americans’ stuck with CNN international ….. MSNBC:
ty – I was watching through another link – but very patchy – this one is good
Now, this is truly ‘History in the Making’ and we are all together – irrespective of where we are physically located. Fill your mind and soul with that reality and cherish every minute.
The polls don’t close in Michigan until 8pm, it’s going to be a long night.
Germany in the house! Doing OK here, Ms Chips… thanks for asking! Thanks for the MSNBC link, will certainly go there rather than be forced to have Wolf Blitzer in my bedroom tonight, ugh!
Hey, Andogriff! You haven’t missed any of the party yet.
Thanks Theo! I’m here for the duration! Can’t sleep anyway!
andofriff, I have a daughter living in Munich now and watching this election results from Wales as she is working in Wales this week.
What ho, peeps?
Just got done with my after-work nap. Waking up a 5 a.m. is not my usual thing.
Not watching pundits. Have you guys, twitter, a few websites, and Classic Arts Showcase on TV.
Quick, I need an update. I am leaving my office and will be an hour on the freeway. Do we know anything?
PBO has Vermont, KY and Indiana called for Willard.
Thank you. I will be praying all the way home!
Please drive carefully Jackie!
Goooooood West Coast evening Chipsticks & TOD family.
I voted this morning before going to work and now I’m home and I see the “talking heads” gearing up on the teevee, so I’m changing to the Cartoon Channel and CHILL THE F_ _ _ _ OUT!
350,000 votes have already been counted in Florida (about 4%). Obama leads 54-46. (Caution: Early votes are VERY hard to make sense of.)— (@Taniel) November 07, 2012
Just wow. Watching BBC News and Sky News election coverage here in the UK and seeing more real news & analysis than US news & no silly spin.— TruthtoConservatives (@ToConservatives) November 07, 2012
This is something we all must repair …
Omg, this wait is killing me!!
Anyone else half tipsy already?? Watching coverage with some friends and I think am going to hide the wine at the rate they’re going!
Please ignore these MSNBC pundits (Tweety, Rachel, etc).
How are you feeling Hopefruit?
Thanks Chips – I’m feeling good, actually. :) I’m nervous and excited, true, but optimistic. Just got home so I’m ready for a night of VICTORY.
That’s the spirit pal!
yes…i agree….and they are on ignore!
On pins and needles what else…but are President is the sh..So I know he will prevail, therefore I am watching season 4 of I Love Lucy…
This is excruciating—–the whole deal—-torturous. Need some encouraging news.
Obama campaign sends urgent text to volunteers in Virginia thkpr.gs/SLHE2s— ThinkProgress (@thinkprogress) November 07, 2012
headache, just ate, nervous, had to pause the talking heads for a few. Waiting for hubby to come home, so can talk with someone (besides you guys) I am hanging on for the rollercoaster ride!
So nervous I cannot eat!
Try to eat something, helps to soak up the alcohol later on!
We still have an OFA staging location full of people in our home calling the last likely voters to get to the dropbox and put in their ballot for President OBAMA and Democrats by 8 pm Pacific. Have been doing this for 4 days straight!! Running on fumes by now. I think half a glass of wine or champagne will put me to sleep in a few hours.
Remember In VA…rural vote will come in faster and first before large urban cities and districts. #POLLS #VIRGINIA— Jeff Gauvin (@JeffersonObama) November 07, 2012
What I said.
Evangelicals are down 2% from 2008 and …
Turnout in rural NV, where Romney will crush Obama, is only 13% of the electorate so far. Down from 2008 (15%). No rural surge detected.— Jon Ralston (@RalstonReports) November 07, 2012
Waiting to vote? As long as you're in line before the polls close, you can still vote. Stay in line & have coffee! http://t.co/erK7okwk— Cecile Richards (@CecileRichards) November 07, 2012
That’s so neat, pf, as she is the one pouring the coffee :)
Why would a campaign’s internal polls be better than any other polls?
Because, if they run their organization in a disciplined, data driven manner, they amass large amounts of data, over numerous parameters. And, they have all that data from previous election cycles. For instance, they have input from every contact their staff and volunteers make throughout the entire canvassing process rather than just collect responses to queries to small samplings of respondents (polls), for starters. Think election.princeton.edu with mega$$ informatics budgets :)
Thanks, good information and makes sense.
EXIT POLLS #OHIO: 39% of Voters are DEMS, 30% GOP — DEMS +9 #POLLS— Jeff Gauvin (@JeffersonObama) November 07, 2012
I just voted and I’m super excited, granted I’m in reliable blue state of CA but it still feels good. It me 10 minutes to vote for PBO/Biden and Dianne Feinstein. There was also a measure by our Governor to raise funds for our schools so I voted yes on that one too. There was also some crazy measure about mandating condom use in the porn industry! Omg the things they put a ballot here!
Hi Ahero62, I live in Los Angeles and I marked my Sample Ballot last night so I breezed through the Measures when I voted this morning. How ’bout that condom measure – huh? I can’t wait to see the results!!! LOL!
Nervous, hopeful and focused.
North Carolina, Ohio too close to call. Romney wins West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana.
FINALLY home from work. Slurpin’ an IPA to calm my nerves!
Keep in mind that the MSM will declare NC, VA and OH as “too close to call” for the sake of ratings. Even if it’s clear who the projected winner is.
West Virginia called for Romney according to BBC. Polls in the blue states on the East Coast close in half an hour..
Joe Manchin keeps his senate seat in West Virginia. Democrats now have 31 seats in the senate.
My sister just called from Ft. Myers, Fl. again——she said their voting lines have turned into a riot there—–just showed on local news—-people have been waiting for over 5 hours to vote, they’re chanting “One Scanner!”——-which no one can believe—-they have law enforcement out there now because people are furious——many said to have given up in disgust, yelling as they leave.
There is just no excuse to treat people in this way, to treat our presidential election in this way.
That is awful, I thought my sister had it bad this morning with a three hour wait, two poll workers scanning everybody’s Drivers license and putting the data into a computer. Once the people got inside the building and saw what was going on, some of them went off.
RT @HotlineJosh: Exits show NC tied at 49%. Needless to say, good news for Team O. #NCPOL #NCPREZ— Greg Sargent (@ThePlumLineGS) November 07, 2012
Just call me Nervous Nelly tonight guys. Oh. My. God.
My stomach is killing me!
I want to eat but I can’t.
Romney wins South Carolina.
What a shock. I voted as soon as the polls opened, but no surprise in my state still flying their confederate flag at the statehouse. Anyway I am born and raised in NC so I still hold out hope for NC.
anxiously waiting!!!!!! Arrgghhhh
I need calm yoga breath!!!
If you have CURRENT – watch it.
Tally, is Cenk ****face on ?
It’s mostly Stephanie now.
Stephanie Miller, John Fugelsang…..
CNN exit poll in Ohio (!): Obama 51%, Romney 48%.— Andrew Kaczynski (@BuzzFeedAndrew) November 07, 2012
In Florida right now, Pres. Obama is up in Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Osceola.
SWEET #VA: David Gergen: "The news out of VA is not good for Mitt Romney." (via @politicoroger)— MKSinSA (@mksinsa) November 07, 2012
interesting PBO in Virgina is winning the districts that he won in 2008 but by bigger margins.
Consistent with field reports of exceptional turnout …
Thanks for asking Chips … I have some curried mutton simmering on the stove, load of laundry in the washer, going to open my wine soon … and reading everyone’s comments here :). Thank you so very much for this space, it is much appreciated.
Watching HGTV..calms the nerves a little,it’s a distraction.
New post everyone:
Breathe folks. Good things come to those who wait..
PBO won south Carolina?
I need to see PBOs number move from 3. I’m tired of seeing Mitten’s number go up. 15 minutes until the polls close in a lot o northern states.
It’s up 12 so far…
I’m seeing PBO 3 Mittens 33 on MSNBC
sorry wrong screen. Early it shows the republican leaning because they tend to do a lot of the red states first.
ok – going off to watch some non-election tv for an hour to calm my nerves. Will check back in with you all when things start getting more definitive. I’m a nervous wreck and it’s just too early for that.
When is Ohio closing, anybody?
I am pouring a drink.
PBO is winning Florida.
sorry will stop and wait. I am killing myself! Lol
New projected totals coming…
PBO 64 Mittes 82
That should be Mittens. New Jersey may not be called until Friday.
