On this most wonderful of all mornings!
Congratulations on #1!!
Top 10 on this great day!
Congrats shipmate. Good morning to you!! :)
GOOD MORNING TO YOU! The ship is still afloat. Time to clean the cannons and prepare to give congress a broadside salvo.
Awesome. We’re all in!
It’s a little after 11AM on Wednesday – the day after our President has been re-elected. Do you know where Herman Cain is? Do you care?
John Tester wins!!
I am really dancing a jig for this!!!
Congrats, Marilyn! Great news!
When I heard the news I was soooooo happy for you.
Congrats to all who watched. I couldn,t, tried to get some sleep and couldn’t anyway-too nervous to sleep. What do you think Obama should try to do with four more years?

“What does that mean now?”
I ROARED!!!!!!
And how fitting that it was uttered by a blond.
Hey, not all of us blondes are that dumb!
I wonder how long it will take the IMBECILES to start coming out with the CONSPIRACY THEORIES? Oh, already churning, no doubt. I mean they had unlimited, OBSCENE amounts of dark money, tried every dirty trick and worked on suppression for years and THE POEPLE WON ANYWAY.
…………………and the people also won!
Why Obama ran terrible, negative ads, don’t you know. Telling all kinds of lies about Mitt!
What a beautiful morning to wake up on! Hello family, how’s everyone?
slept late, didja ?

PBHO should “nestle” between Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln!
Let’s make it happen. What y’all say? ;)
FORWARD 2012 & Beyond, Together!!!
I have to bring this over from the previous post from JacquelineOboomer! It was an AMAZING summary of reactions to various groups!
Dear People of America,
Do not even think of trying to steal my joy during President Obama’s second term.
Dear White Voters of America, of which I am one,
If it’s true only 39% of us voted for PBO, then I’m proud to be part of the 39% and I’m buyin’ the t-shirt. Get over yourselves.
Dear Older Voters on Social Security and Medicare, of which I am one, but who didn’t vote Obama,
Enjoy your earned benefits, because we’ve given you another four years of ‘em. Good luck livin’ with your adult kids after that.
Dear Southern Voters who chose the loser,
The Civil War is over. Go to the lie-berry and read a book about it. Stop at the reference desk; they’ll help you find the book.
Dear Chris Matthews,
No, the current President did not have to thank former Pres. Clinton during his speech last night. Read my lips, Chris: R-E-T-I-R-E.
Dear Ed Schultz,
No, you and your fellow lefties do not get to spell out our President’s agenda for the next four years. S-T-I-C-K-W-I-T-H-R-A-D-I-O.
Dear O’friends from Canada and France who called me last night,
Thank you for getting it – and for helping me keep my sanity here in America.
I cannot thank you enough for your commitment to keep TOD going for another four years. It was the fourth nicest thing that “happened to me” in the last 48 hours.
Dear Granddaughters in IL, TN and FL,
Thank you for sharing our victory with me last night. The future is yours!
Dear toddler Great Grandson,
Thank you for learning how to say “O-ba-ma,” in your sweet little voice, and for saying it when he was re-elected!
Dear President Obama and Vice President Biden and your families,
I’m speechless. Well, not really, but I’m giving you a day off.
Just lovely Jacqueline, thank you so much for this – and Pinkbunny for bringing it over.
Jacquline, thanks for expressing my thoughts so eloquently!
Oops, meant “Jacqueline”. :)
Great job, job. :)
THIS!!!!! That was to beautiful Jacqueline!!!!
I just had the most wonderful conversations with one of my best friends. She is as close to a daughter as I will ever have and her daughters (14 and 7) are like grandchildren to me.
the 14 year old votes in 2016. This upcoming generation — the old Republican party isn’t going to know what hit them. These kids ‘get’ truth and science and citizenship. They care about the environment and they do NOT care whether someone is gay or straight. They expect that their health care will be between them and their doctor. They will fight for civil rights, for voting rights. They envision a very different America than the hate-filled, Randian hell that Republicans crave.
They remind me of my generation, growing up in the 60’s. We changed the world. My heart is full knowing that these two little girls that I love so much will carry on.
I am so hopeful and grateful this morning, I could just burst. I so look forward to substantive discussions with my TOD familyin the coming days about how to turn this ship around in a progressive direction and how to undo conservative damage. It could take as little as a decade, if the whiny left behaves and works with us as a coalition.
Today, I just want to celebrate. And gloat — just a little.
Best post ever!!!
WONDERFUL POST! Agree 100%! We approve that message JOB!
This was a wonderful comment by JO! But as I said in my reply to her, the media needs to stop this business of 39% of white voters supported the President without explaining that that number is distorted by the white supremacist confederate South. The vast majority of white voters in New England, and in states like Iowa, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon etc. voted for President Obama.
Chips – This great read on the greatest campaign team evah deserves a thread on its own. h/t ut.
How to Raise $1 Billion
For all the praise Obama’s team won in 2008 for its high-tech wizardry, its success masked a huge weakness: too many databases. Back then, volunteers making phone calls through the Obama website were working off lists that differed from the lists used by callers in the campaign office. Get-out-the-vote lists were never reconciled with fundraising lists. It was like the FBI and the CIA before 9/11: the two camps never shared data. “We analyzed very early that the problem in Democratic politics was you had databases all over the place,” said one of the officials. “None of them talked to each other.” So over the first 18 months, the campaign started over, creating a single massive system that could merge the information collected from pollsters, fundraisers, field workers and consumer databases as well as social-media and mobile contacts with the main Democratic voter files in the swing states.
The new megafile didn’t just tell the campaign how to find voters and get their attention; it also allowed the number crunchers to run tests predicting which types of people would be persuaded by certain kinds of appeals. Call lists in field offices, for instance, didn’t just list names and numbers; they also ranked names in order of their persuadability, with the campaign’s most important priorities first. About 75% of the determining factors were basics like age, sex, race, neighborhood and voting record. Consumer data about voters helped round out the picture. “We could [predict] people who were going to give online. We could model people who were going to give through mail. We could model volunteers,” said one of the senior advisers about the predictive profiles built by the data. “In the end, modeling became something way bigger for us in ’12 than in ’08 because it made our time more efficient.”
Amazing smart stuff.
Well fox news time for you to go off the air!!
Tails are waggin' this morning!

LOL. You betcha.
Great photoslide from last night!!
Thanks pinkbunny…I LOVE this gallery. So inspiring!!!
They’re stunning PB, thanks a million for the link.
This is such a great day!!! I was so sure that PBO would be reelected but I didn’t have faith in the people here in MT to atleast vote for TESTER. There were many split votes. Romney still won the state but they did vote for Tester. They knew he really did work for the people of Montana. It will be interesting tomorrow when I am around all my conservative friends. I will be doing a jig.
Thanks to all this wonderful TOD family and Ms Chips in keeping us all sane. Now I wonder if there will be any change in the msm. Can we have some hope there?
Congrats marilyn. Thanks for a great job.
Ok folks. For once, let me sleep early.
That kenyan indonayshian muslin revwright krystian soshalist phascist kapitalist kommunist ebil usurper has drunk all my energy.
You can sleep tight now! Thanks for all your great tweets, Amk!!!
See you back here tomorrow!
sleep well amk ~ you’re a treasure :)
My sister told me that it pandemonium in NYC last night! Times Square was on FIRE! And this city was just ravaged by a storm a week ago.
…that it *was* pandemonium….
Anybody watching MSNBC right now? Nina Turner is in full swag mode!! LOL
Heres my question… how do we go to the Inauguration?? Can we just show up, or do we need to get tickets somehow?
When I went to the last Inauguration I contacted one of my state senators to put my name on a list for Inaugural tickets. Then waited but so many applied that they did a lottery draw for them. I still won them. There were places that did not require tickets on the National Mall though. Not sure if the crowd will be as big the second time around since the first time was of historic significance. It was a wonderful experience. Go for it!
oh I will :) I don’t want to miss this one at all. thanks for the tips O’grandmama ~
“Not sure if the crowd will be as big the second time around since the first time was of historic significance.”
I’m thinking it will be as big as or bigger. Just like the turnout this election!
I think it’ll be bigger also.
PBO’s popular vote lead is close to 3,000,000 now. He will end up winning by more than 2%, almost exactly what both Silver and Wang predicted.
And in the morning the Koch brothers awoke 2 realize that the Republican Party had just redistributed their wealth. @JohnFugalsang #p2 #tcot— Terrell Lewis (@SgBz) November 07, 2012
After a good night’s rest after knowing that we’ll be in good hands the next four years, I want to take this time to say thanks for all you do and have done. You’ve kept most of us sane and motivated and I’m looking forward to the next four years of pics and info from TOD!
Much love and respect!
I think two of PBO’s biggest policy agenda issues in his second term will be Climate Change and Immigration reform. What do you think?
YES!!! Also closing loopholes in tax codes, pushing through a jobs bill .
Filibuster and election reform. He actually needs 8 more years, and I’m good with that! :) :) :) :)
Good Morning to all…left my THANK YOU’S to all on last post, as usual after every one left………..I woke up this morning, estatic but with a “tiny” sad….NC didn’t get it done b/c of HATE……for all of you living in a similar state, we have to keep working to erase that HATE….sooo…I’m thinking about something that subtly says that…like maybe a bumper sticker that says something like….HATE never wins…or defeat HATE or Hate destroys…..with maybe an American Flag….SUGGESTIONS???…Anyone here know how to do that or wants to take that challenge on?….No party ID….just a statement….figure a bumper sticker is the most visable but subtle avenue to spread the word b/c all of us that drive cars are a picture of America…black, white, brown, yellow, and maybe a little green from over indulgence this morning……….PBO and all of you taught me that HATE is the most destructive problem facing our nation….more destructive than the economy, more destructive than terrorists, more destructive than climate change,ETC: for without HATE there isn’t a problem that our Nation has that can’t be solved. We OWE PBO that…..we could give them as Christmas presents…Birthday presents…just because presents and if each one of us gave 10 then those10 then those gave 10….you get my drift….like Fired Up, Ready to Go…..one voice can change the world……soooooo….put your heads together TODers…..Let’s start something…
I like your idea! Hate is the destructive force in this country. Some people are letting it just eat their souls away, are so consumed by it that they no longer can think straight. I would like to see a movement like you suggest.
Don’t know how to do it and too old to tackle the longistics but would absolutely like to participate….Smart younguns out there..get it going
I agree with the POTUS we need to fix the election laws that states have implemented to reduce voter turn out. We need to get that done before midterm elections.
Our whole election system needs to be revamped. You cannot have people standing in line for 7 and 8 hours, still waiting to vote at 1:00 and 2:00 in the morning. You can’t treat voters like that. You can’t treat presidential elections like that. It’s beyond ridiculous.
Ok, really the last one. I promise.
Great Toon. Fuck yeah. http://t.co/koUgYAh3— (@amk4obama) November 07, 2012
The power of the People! This says it all!
Guys, we did it. I am having the best feeling ever. Thank you all for all your hard work that put Potus and VPotus on top. You guys rock.
Dear Chips, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you’ve done. You were a haven from the alternate reality surrounding us each and every day. You were a bulwark. The TOD online family was a thing of beauty and will be a joy forever. This victory feels sweeter because POTUS earned it. It feels more substantial because we now know which direction this country will go. We know that healthcare will never be denied to anyone, we know that immigration reform will happen, we know that new wars will not be fought, we know that women’s rights will not be compromised, we know that education will remain important and science will prevail, we know that green initiatives will thrive, we know that despite the negative propaganda we’ve been bombarded with over the last four years, the America that is kind and generous, loyal and faithful, determined and hard-working, sane and logical, exists. We proved it last night and we will continue to work hard to make that America succeed because our POTUS, through the strength of his character, inspires that in us.
THANK YOU to each and everyone of you. We did it.
Just got back home to read all the wonderful posts, and rejoice in the wonderful pictures Chips has posted. My heart is full today. This wonderful man who is a gift to the U.S. and the world, will be our leader for the next four years at a time when we need him so much.
Thanks Chips, as everyone has said, for this marvelous place. I get almost all my news here, and know far more than those who just watch TV. I love the insights and rants of people who write here, and the freedom we have, and the shared feeling of respect and admiration for our president and vice president and their wives.
Last night was wonderful, and also very different from four years ago, but it was JUST RIGHT! The team showed more wisdom in not trying to recapture Grant Park this time…..they are so wise. Their celebration was just perfect for this time. We have all grown up some in the last four years, I think, even us senior citizens, as we have followed this masterful leader.
Today, I a rejoicing with all of you.
Just wondering if Obama dumped Biden and ran with Hillary this year. Hadn’t heard any updates on that.
So are we going to have a TOD meetup for the inauguration? :D
I sure hope so, CK!
I have been trying to assess my feelings this time around versus 4 years ago. I am not as giddy now as then. I think back then I was just so proud of this country for the historic election of an AA President. And it was historic.
This victory I consider more as momentous than historic. This was, as the toon that AMK posted above shows, a win of the many over the privileged few. I really think this was perhaps even a more important win than the one in 2008. It would have been easy for many people to say, “Well, we gave the black guy a chance, let’s go back to the way it always has been.” But the American people refused to do so.
There is an interesting column over at Pierce’s place by one of his contributors, Tom Junod, who has been critical of the President, particularly inhis use of drones, etc. But I think it really points out what last night’s results mean. A couple quotes:
But he must have known that if he remained true to the very things his enemies feared in him — his rationalism and modernity — the country could get on with the task of transforming itself, and tonight he celebrated the most sweeping political transformation in American political culture since the one Reagan cemented in his electoral victory of 1984:
He had turned a center-right country into a center-left one.
And so the speech he gave tonight was distinguished not only by its eloquence but also by the quality hardest to come by in any political speech: its accuracy. When he said at the beginning that the “task of perfecting our union” moves forward “because of you,” he wasn’t just thanking the troops or flattering his followers; he was acknowledging the obvious. And when, at the end, he rose to his slightly hoarse peroration, and said “it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from or what you look like or who you love; it doesn’t matter whether you’re black or white or Hispanic or Asian or Native American or young or old or rich or poor, abled, disabled, gay or straight — you can make it here in America if you’re willing to try”: well, he was acknowledging that the hodgepodge of peoples upon which Democratic politics has always depended had melded into something like a people during his four years in office, maybe even into something like “we, the people,” with a demographic force impossible to dislodge. What Republicans have feared since they first set eyes on Barack Obama — that he symbolized the day when the revanchist white baby-boomers that comprised its base would simply be outnumbered — has come to pass, and though they will be back soon enough with their philosophy of limited government, they will heretofore practice their tried-and-true strategy of demonizing segments of the American population at their peril.

New post everyone, back later:
47% of Cuban Americans voted for the President, in Florida.
They are still counting provisional and absentee ballots!
I am still in the moment. My only regret is we couldn’t send Creepy along with Smirky back to the land of the crazy drawrfs.
Commenting again because the magnificent Chips is too fast for me. I am still in the moment. I only regret we couldn’t send Creepy along with Smirky back to the land of the crazy drawrfs…
Reblogged this on While you were sleeping and commented:
Ahhh, the Moment! After months of worry and anxiety, the worry is over. But we still have a lot to do. WILL Congress work with the President this time? Will we see those changes we need? The Supreme Court appointments, the repeal of Citizen’s United? Will we ensure that NEVER again will any American suffer while exercising their right to vote? We dodged a bullet this time, but the gun’s still loaded…
