Couldn’t Love Him more for Standing up for Ms. Rice!!
http://www.whitehouse.gov/live Re-Broadcasting PBO’s Press Conference
Someone on this sight once said, “get me a chisel and a ride to Mt.Rushmore”, I got lots of chisels and a car, where should I meet you?
I am coming along my friend, you will be picking me up somewhere in I10 West in Texas :) Thia great man definitely deserves his face be chiseled on Mt Rushmore :)
Oh, my, I love that!
It was a tweet that came out around election day. I total agree with the sentiment.
Man, it’s so Ni-i-i-ice to have the President on MY side, where I know I can count on him standing up for me. ;) ;)
It would be such a kick in the teeth if he actually nominates Ms Rice, especially as we know he wouldn’t do it unless he felt convinced she was the best choice for the job, and he would be ready and willing to defend his choice.
Gotta pat myself on the back… I’ve been saying she’s the right person for it, if she wants it. At the time, I didn’t know Sen Kerry would want it, but he wouldn’t be a bad choice. Though I like the speculation that’s been going around:
Kerry – Defense
Rice – State
Deval Patrick – either AG or replaces Kerry in Senate
Night, Dudette. Go ahead and pat! ;) ;) It’s encouraging to me that Dems have so many insightful and aware voters, in comparison to the GOP leadership that never seems to see even to the end of their noses.
♥ ed that smackdown. Proud Former White House Intern congrats on being the 1st to point out how ugly the press was. Yea, bring on it. Linsdey Graham’s smart ass remarks is going to make him very, very, much a loser . The Senate does not have enough votes to deny Susan Rice’s confirmation.
Or to have the votes for a resolution, for a special committee on Benghazi.
That’s wishful thinking and way over the top!
Pres. @BarackObama, we stand with you in defense of @AmbassadorRice. The days of the GOP "swiftboating" our talented leaders are OVER.— (@Only4RM) November 14, 2012
For the first time in my adult life, I feel FULLY invested in where we are going as a nation.
What I was trying to do was highlight that excellent summary statement by LaDLove in the previous thread!
It is precisely as I’ve felt since PBO stepped up to run for President and everything he has done since has only strengthened that sentiment.
Yes We Did
Bobfr…I am not worthy!!! Thanks for the shout-out. And you were right in naming RFK in the last thread as a model inspirational leader.
Glad that my president put these assholes in their place.
I guess they do not get it that PBO is done with their crap. He has work to do, he will choose the best people to get it done, and that is the way of it. He WON, now let’s move on. (not us, I mean, but the mofos who still think they matter)
[A comment over @ Benen]:
The “real” McCain is what you see. The asswipe graduated at the bottom of his Annapolis class, yet the fact he was son and grandson of two Naval Aviation big-time Admirals got him into Pensacola where he graduated so low he was sent to Skyraiders (not a top pick, since it was obsolete), where he then managed to create a blackout across southern Spain while “flat hatting” when his tailhook caught and broke the main transmission wire in the country. Pop and Grandpop’s reputation continued to protect him and he got jets, sent to Skyhawks. In 1967, he “played a joke” with a wet start (which shoots a flame 100 feet long behind the airplane), which caught two other planes on fire, killing their crews and eventually killing 177 of his fellow sailors on the USS Forrestal and putting the carrier into repair for 18 months at the height of the war. Pop and Grandpop’s protection continued and he got sent quickly to another squadron, where he learned he wasn’t going to be promoted past Lieutenant Commander due to professional incompetence. He then proved the professional incompetence by getting himself shot down by violating the main rule of being a bomber pilot: don’t fly back over the target you just hit, they’ll get you – which they did. He was then on the “POW fast track” and got promoted all the way to Captain while a POW. Came out and was given a Captain’s position in charge of the Replacement Air Group for the Atlantic Fleet, and botched it. No third Admiral McCain. They sent him to D.C. where he found his calling as pimp to Congressmen who were voting on things the Navy wanted.
That “good” McCain was the result of a bullshhitt P.r. campaign that shows if you give otherwise-unemployables donuts with sprinkles and talk smack to them in the back of a bus, they’ll think you’re cool for not treating them as the wretches they are.
JOHN MCCAIN WAS BORN A WORTHLESS P.O.S. – anything to the contrary is baloney. He is living proof of the old saying “The first generation makes it, the second generation keeps it and the third generation loses it.”
P.S. He’s now a BOM — Bitter Old Man.
Dear @maddow Let's get the REAL McCain out there in full view. Here's a good start bit.ly/U08BjS cc @SteveBenen— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 14, 2012
McCain is a media creation. Period. He has very little understanding of foreign policy or diplomacy. His only answer to every problem is to use military force. Besides, he is still bitter from loosing to the President in a landslide.
A bitter senile old fool who will never get over the fact that Barack Obama defeated him in 08.
He is also an SL– Sore Loser
BAM! Another legacy screw-up with Daddy issues.
Wow, xtine.! That’s some smackdown by Benen. Wish this had been more well known in 2008.
It was a comment to Benen’s post.
Something sinks around John and Lindsey’s relationship. I just get the creeps when I see them together; and I must not forget Joe Lieberman, he’s creepy too.
CNN's Yellin says 2010 tax deal was an Obama cave-in. Not really. He traded 2-yr extension of W tax cuts for a second stimulus. #Showdown— David Corn (@DavidCornDC) November 14, 2012
Nothing better displays the expanse of how clueless US #NEWSTAINERS are than what Yellin just demonstrated re: 2010 tax deal cc @DavidCornDC— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 14, 2012
PBO calls out Senators during press conference today saying:
“Feeling frogish? Jump dammit!”
President Andrew Shepard!!
” I AM the President!” lol…
Well I guess the dumb Republicans like Graham & McCain have not learned from the Presidents action on fighting terrorist that you came after one of his people. You have got a real problem with him and now for those two idiots to pick on Dr. Rice was the wrong move they have a fight on their hands and GOD help them get the quiet one mad and all hell breaks loose.
this is the truth!
Our Fierce President !! John McCain & cohorts can stfu, long past time for that cretin.
They want this to be Watergate, so bad. They are reaching and grasping for draws.
Draws would be Petreas!
in their dreams :)
they’re still in the denial/bargaining stage of grief that they lost the election, seems to me. schooling the president? i don’t think so!
2 old, bitter misogynists – Yes McCain & Graham looking straight at you dudes – get their asses handed to them by POTUS youtube.com/watch?feature=…— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 14, 2012
Thanks a lot for your tweets to expose these idiots McCain and Graham on their idiotic behavior re: Dr. Susan Rice.
Let keep people informed about this stuff and you always do a great job with your tweets:)
The crap I heard on talk radio yesterday was Dr. Rice not being able to fill Hillary’s shoes. Is that a laugh or what!
You gotta love when reporters do their job and point out that McCain and Graham are hypocrites.
McCain And Graham Defended Condoleezza Rice Over Iraq WMD Testimony buzzfeed.com/zekejmiller/gr… via @buzzfeedpol— Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) November 14, 2012
And had her confirmed for SoS……those things she did as National Security Adviser.
Yes indeed, Nena, especially ignoring intelligence reports that BinLaden was planning to attack big in the U.S.
Ax is on Fire today ;)
Which means you, @LukeRussert, will, once again, not qualify!— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) November 14, 2012
hahahhahahhahahhahahahhahahahhahahaha!!!!!!!OMG!!!!  Axe!!!! OMG!!!!! He is so bitchin’!!!!!
BURN! Love Axe.
Mr. Axelrod, you’re forever my guy! :)
Luke Russert is an arrogant punk who got where he is thanks to his dad.
Rice is not even nomoinated yet. Why are they going after her so fiercely???
trying to swiftboat her. McCain and Graham are a couple of bitter bitches, who won’t even make the footnote of history, except as part of the gaggle of crazies who tried to obstruct the president and his agenda and who were unsuccessful in their tasks.
You speak TRUTH, Lisa!
Their premptive strike
Like President Obama said, she’s an “easy target”. What did he mean by that ? My hypothesis: she’s an outsider, she doesn’t have an army of allies on the Hill, as opposed to Hillary Clinton and David Patraeus. Republicans don’t dare attack Hillary and Patraeus, despite the fact that the State Department and the CIA had big responsibilities regarding the security in Lybia.
The more I think of it, the more the vendetta against Susan Rice is both weird and despicable and it’s no surprise that President Obama was so angry when answering the question about Rice in his press conference.
For the record, regarding what happened in Benghazi, I’m not faulting Hillary, but I don’t discount some snafu from Patraeus, or from some middle-level staffers in either the State Dept. or the CIA.
Ooh that S.E Cupp (sippy) what a bitch with the death ratting voice. She’s cornered about Benghazi instead of the economy. Why did she leave FAUX NEWS? Does any one know?
MSNBC wanted a token wingnut whom they thought would appeal to old geezers who might be lost looking for FOX.
POTUS today reminds me of one of his great McCain smackdowns of 08, 2mins 44secs of demolition from then-Sen. Obama bit.ly/T1SNMA— Bill Burton (@billburton716) November 14, 2012
Oh, Bob, that smack down was a thing of beauty! Thanks for sharing this clip because I had never seen it before.
Oh I love that video. Bravo to President Obama.
Yes nathkatun7, that smack down of the senile bitter old McCain was a thing of beauty. I loved it.
Thanks for the reminder. Today is full of epic well justified smack downs.
That was very telling of Bill Burton to use the term “smackdown,” which he would not have used before President Obama had cinched his second term. LOVE IT!!!!
And the President was right. He ended the war in Iraq, then went into Pakistan, got Bin Laden, and is finishing off Al Queda. McCains worst nightmare. This doubles down on him not having a clue about what is going on. That Thumping that Mc Cain got in 2008 is still ringing his bell.
I was out early today and missed the President press conference. I see were that senile bitter old McCain and his side kicks are trying to start trouble, but I hear POTUS let the fools know that he wasn’t going to take their B.S. Bravo Mr. President.
Bingo! MT @ZerlinaMaxwell Susan Rice, Valerie Jarrett, Van Jones, Eric Holder, Shirley Sherrod targeted by GOP. What do they have in common?— Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) November 14, 2012
There was the lady that is now working for Ebony……Rogers…..she was forced out too.
Yes I forgot about her
Desiree Rogers was booted for State Dinner fiasco where those uninvited guest crashed the party.
I would say they attack any of his staff – not just those of color- for any of their own GOP created conspiracies. Add Rahm, Elizabeth Warren (creating the CFPB), Geithner, etc. to that list.
Yup. Pres. Obama is not kidding around.
"Let's get to work." OFA.BO/QEHuo4— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) November 14, 2012
[From Benen, I like the last paragraph below]:
For those who can’t watch clips online, Obama said, “If Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham want to go after somebody, they should go after me. I’m happy to have that discussion with them. But for them to go after the U.N. ambassador? Who had nothing to do with Benghazi? To besmirch her reputation? It’s outrageous.”
The president added, “When they go after the U.N. ambassador because they think she’s an easy target, then they’ve got a problem with me.”
What’s more, Obama defended Rice herself, explaining that the ambassador has “done exemplary work” with “skill, professionalism and toughness and grace.” As for her Benghazi remarks, Obama explained that Rice spoke to the media at the White House’s request and “gave the best understanding of the intelligence that had been provided to her.”
The forceful response reinforced the impression that McCain and Graham are acting like intemperate bullies, picking on Rice because they can. Ironically, McCain’s smear campaign, coupled with the president’s pushback, may very well have improved Rice’s chances of becoming the next Secretary of State.
I read a theory on another site that the reason Graham is jumping into the fray is because he’s up for re-election. He afraid of being primaried from the right and a fight with PBO may give him some teabaggin. cred. With PBO actually mentioning his name in the presser elevates him in the eyes of the RWNJs whose votes he’ll need to survive the RWNJs who may vote against him in his primary.
Makes sense because the RWNJs don’t know if they’re on foot or horseback.
Amazing that at the same time you can stand up for your principles, defend a valuable member of the administration, AND do a political favor for the opposition. And Lindsey Graham is worth doing a favor for because he is much, much better than the alternative we would likely get from a Republican primary in South Carolina. And he will also help on immigration reform.
I agree, in So Carolina the alternative would get elected before the most conservative Dem. Unlike other states where the RWNJ that won their primary left an open for the Dem in the general. In this case, the RWNJ would undoubtedly win.
Graham always jumps in to echo what McCain says. He and Leiberman act like McCain’s lap dogs.
And Susan Collins of ME is never too far behind those foolish RWNJs.
Couldn’t see the presser live, but I love y’all’s color commentary. Sounds like my President kicked ass and took names. Can’t wait to catch up later!
Thank You Chipsticks, Thank You all here at this wonderful site for helping reelecting President Obama.
At this pressconference Barak H. Obama just showed us – again, why he is so worthy of being President Obama.
It is pretty wild sitting far out in a wood in Smaaland, Sweden enjoying directly from whitehouse.gov the immense capacity of President Obama,
specially his defence of Susan Rice.
Even got Van Jones all aggy…
The attack on @AmbassadorRice is unconscionable. We need to defend her & FIGHT to ensure her rightful ascension to Sec of State.— Van Jones (@VanJones68) November 14, 2012
rightful “ascension”?! Holy Mary Mother of God.
I know Forus, what an utterly ridiculous comment, like anyone has a divine right to these promotions. Ugh.
Yeah, he’s just drama or bizarre or in this case both. POTUS hasn’t even nominated her yet and unconscionable implies a whole lotta drama when the McCain/Lindsay twin girls were doing some bs politicking. I’m doubt Susan Rice has high on her list: Need Van Jones to defend me. :)
There’s something wrong with that guy. Thinking before speaking may be one of his problems. Lots of outrageous stuff comes often comes tumbling out.
He’ll probably make a video of himself tomorrow attacking her
Absolutely spot on Chip…
That Van Jones guy is such an embarrassingly obvious opportunist…
hahahhahahha!!! Fucking lunatic! So glad he’s no longer associated with PBO’s administration. Whew.
President Obama today to WH press corps: "You know I won, right?" ;-) http://t.co/G559k5hU— The Obama Diary (@TheObamaDiary) November 14, 2012
Great tweet, Chips! These jackals must be put in their place.
Thanks a bunch Chips, for your continued AWESOME job to keep us and the whole world informed on what HEROIC WORK PBO is doing for the next 4 years :) Merci beaucoup du fond du coeur :)
[2 of the comments over @ Ed Kilgore re: his response to presser. Have to say, I wasn't sure what Ed was getting at in his post, so I was glad to see Bleh's comment]:
bleh on November 14, 2012 3:36 PM:
Whaaat? I don’t think it’s Obama who had it backwards.
Regarding Susan Rice, he did 4 things: he pushed back hard on the Benghazi non-troversy, he looked presidential in the way he described how he’s handling it, he stood up and made McCain and Graham look like silly school-kids, and he scored yet another point with women, who know perfectly well that Rice’s sex is one of the reason she’s been singled out as a target. (See under Clinton, Hillary, for further reading.) It was exactly the right tone. If he had been Mr. Nice Guy, the attacks would have redoubled.
And regarding the budget negotiations, he sounded patient knowledgeable, fair and firm, even as he politely told the House Republicans to pound sand. If he had got angry, he would have been painted as partisan and unwilling to negotiate.
I’m all for the progressive media being the “voice of the president’s backbone,” but this kind of criticism is completely wrongheaded imho.
Josef K on November 14, 2012 3:38 PM:
Okay, so maybe Graham and McCain are now going to lead the charge to impeach the President for failing to pacify Libya into total slavery, thereby “allowing” the attacks on Benghazi to take place. Much like Carter “allowed” our Embassy and Consulate in Tehran to be seized back in ’79 by…whatever it was it didn’t do.
Dear gods, this is all we can expect from 1/2 of our political establishment? Seriously?
As for his bad choice of phrasing, I can live with him playing the GOP’s own game. After all, they’re the ones pushing the whole “fiscal cliff” meme. Is it too hard to believe that rhetoric can be turned on them when Congress fails to actually act this time around?
This is not the first time the President had to remind folks that the election is over and that he won.
The full press conference:
[Dynamic Scoring & Loopholes are their dear kith & kin!]:
“What I will not do, I will not have a process that is vague, that says we are going to sort of, kind of, raise revenue and do dynamic scoring or closing loopholes that have not been identified,” Obama said, referring to supply side theories that suggest cutting tax rates creates enough economic growth to offset revenue losses. “The reason I won’t do that is because I don’t want to find ourselves in a position six months from now or a year from now where, lo and behold, the only way to close the deficit is to sock it to middle-class families…. That is my concern. I am less concerned about red lines, per se.”
Which reminds me, John McCain picked Sarah Palin to be his running mate — and he thinks Susan Rice is unqualified? The CIA backs up everything Susan Rice said.
I tweeted John McCain and told him he lost the right to call anyone stupid after selecting the unread and uninformed domestic terrorist sarah palin as his VP.
I tweeted Lindey Graham and told him most peeps think the GOP is responsible for benghazi
To adapt a phrase from Grover Norquist, McCain and Graham are poopy-heads……
Senate rejects Cybersecurity Act for second time
By Jennifer Martinez and Ramsey Cox
Cybersecurity legislation failed in Senate for a second time on Wednesday despite calls from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and other national security officials for Congress to pass a bill.
A procedural motion to move forward on the Cybersecurity Act, introduced by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Susan Colins (R-Maine), was rejected on a 51-47 vote.
Just like cutting embassy security, it gives our foes an opportunity to attack!
Me thinks the executive order on this is coming right up! Soon!
Go after Dr Rice, then you have got a problem with POTUS; ….. go after POTUS then you have got a problem with me!!
