[Cheers, Mr. Messina, & can I tag along?!]:

What’s Messina going to do next? He ain’t going to Disney World.

“I am going to go to Italy and figure out how to become an expert in red wine for a couple weeks,” Messina told reporters shortly after walking out of the West Wing on Tuesday afternoon.

How dare this awful, bitter old man.

Amb Susan Rice went to Standford University, won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in England and was lauded there for her dissertation thesis
    as well.

McCain came nearly last in his military college and all of his decisions show what a fundamentally unintelligent blowhard.

Never forget that McLoss was senile back in 2008. That’s how he picked up Sarah Palin. His judgement is impaired by old, old age. Luckily for us, not everyone at his age is senile.

One of the drawbacks of GOP ‘leaders’ is that they never seem to get when their comments or positions actually better describe them. Irony is so lost on ALL of them that it makes me wonder if there is something in the republican trough that they all feed on that warps the mind.

Is it possible the vendetta about Susan Rice is because she’s seen as pretty independent from the establishment ?

They don’t dare go against Hillary Clinton because they know she has many allies on the Hill.

  12. 40 57andfemale
    November 14, 2012 at 1:27 pm

    Damn…..

    From The Hill:

Democrats don’t have the 51 votes they need in the Senate to change filibuster rules…. Lawmakers leading the charge acknowledge they remain short, but express optimism they’ll hit their goal.

    • 41 Nena20409
      November 14, 2012 at 1:40 pm

They need just 50 votes. VP Biden would cast the 51st vote.

        November 14, 2012 at 1:58 pm

But it sounds like they might not have all dem’s on board.

I find it strange that these votes are made by the outgoing Congress and not the incoming, unless I’m missing something.

        • 43 Judith Fardig
          November 14, 2012 at 2:12 pm

I thought the Senate rules could only be changed the first day of the new session, so we will have fresh blood in there to help get the filibuster reformed.

We here in our TOD family will continue to be inspired daily. I am going to choose to find something that our brilliant president gives me daily. I hope we will continue to build on this habit because we are going to have a long road to travel, and we have won and we will prevail together with our president.

On Election Day, Republicans Suffered Consequences of Voter Suppression Strategy

By Donna Brazile and Will Crossley

    —————————-

For more than two years Republicans have campaigned and legislated against the right of certain groups of people to vote. On Election Day, Republicans suffered the consequences. The very groups the GOP targeted — among them African Americans, Latinos, and young people — turned out in record numbers, propelling to victory the president and Democrats across the country. The Republicans’ strategy failed because it awakened the most powerful force in a democracy: the determination of the voters themselves.
    .
    .
When the dust settled, the very groups targeted for suppression and intimidation had voted in record numbers. Compared to 2008, African Americans, Hispanics, and people under age 29 all represented a greater share of the national electorate.
    .
    .
On Election Day, we marched to the polls, and persevered lines (Twitter hash tag #stayinline) as long as necessary to cast our ballots. We marched and stood for many reasons–not least among them, the refusal to let others trample on our hard-won rights. Those seeking to do so would be wise to heed this lesson in the years to come.

We are going to lean on them every step of the way, and that is one serious way we can support POB in this second term. He is not playing at all. So let us move with him and make his presidency and the people he serves be a beautiful and productive presidency. We Can Do This.

Not his governance of Massachusetts, or his great business sense at Bain, but the Winter Olympics, for which he got a federal bailout. 70. November 14, 2012 at 2:36 pm

Just to tangent for a moment; do you realize how lucky we are to be alive now? We’ve done without a strong, smart, inspirational national leader for so long that I, for one, lost the expectation of those qualities in a president. I’ve been numb since the Reagan years. Clinton was a smart president, but fell short. JFK was the standard I used. I tried explaining what it was like to my 30’s godson, but since he never experienced it, all he could do smile and nod.

But PBO changed everything…EVERYTHING! His story, his campaign, his marriage, just BO being BO has been a second breath for me (and lot others). I have done all that I could to support this president partly for selfish reasons. For the first time in my adult life, I feel FULLY invested in where we are going as a nation.

    (…steps off soapbox.)

    • November 14, 2012 at 2:38 pm

namely PBO’s efficient and he runs his team a lot more effectively than Clinton did. The Monica scandal really screwed Clinton as well not to mention made him a lame duck in his last term.

“For the first time in my adult life, I feel FULLY invested in where we are going as a nation.”

Absolutely. Have been saying the same to myself and all of my friends and colleagues ever since I began supporting him before the Nov 2008 election. The only other candidate for President, after I became eligible to vote, who inspired me in a similar manner was RFKJr.

PBO makes excellent appointments. For example, Hillary has been a great SOS because the President didn’t have to worry about what was going on in the State Dept. He knew he’d hear what was necessary. Same with Susan Rice. He didn’t have to be concerned with the day-to-day stuff that goes on at the UN. He knew Rice would report only what was important.

He’ll think long and hard about a new CIA head. The CIA has always been a simmering caldron of intrigue, fakery, conspiracy nuts, and weirdos. Finding someone who can put a lid on it AND KEEP IT THERE will not be easy. But I have confidence that PBO will find the right person.

PBO is just so damn smart, but also operates in Reality Land. When he said “we’ve read all the literature about ‘presidential overreach’ in the second term”, that was a pre-emptive strike.

When he talked about the message he consistently got from the American people during the campaign, that he went through specific examples of their grit, determination, etc., I was convinced that he indeed loves the American people.

When I saw him in Boulder the Thursday before the election he said, “I might do things you won’t agree with. But you guys know me. You KNOW me.” And the crowd had this powerful surge of agreement and applause, because he GETS us. We GET him. He consistently set decorum in this press conference. The questions! That one reporter saying, “…how can you convince the American people — and the republicans…” What? is she EVEN pretending to be a JOURNALIST or a shill?

Chuck Toad, David Gregory, and the other bumbling MSNBC idiot stop your besmirching. How dare the three of you to say the President had 3 chances to answer about the investigation and his judgement. President Obama has made it perfectly clear until the investigation is over he will reserve his judgement. What part of that is so difficult to understand?

Who was the loser who yelled out the question at the end?

Mr. President, don’t think for one minute I don’t hold you ultimately responsible for #Benghazi.
