Nancy Cordes was the one who asked the whining question about Romney and Pres. Obama having a chitchat. She breathlessly went to get confirmation from Team Romney and get a hi-5 for being a wonderful lap dog.

I don’t get why it’s so important for Obama to sit with Romney.
Was the press as interested in having Bush talk with Gore? or Kerry???
      What the fuck!

I’m disappointed Obama would agree to meet with Romney after the shit Romney said and did during the campaign. What a joke.

I love it that PBO will welcome Romney to HIS home. I hope Ann comes along as well. I want FLOTUS to give her the grand tour. I want the meeting tobe held in the Oval office. I want lunch served from food from the garden. I want the meeting to go well, but not one idea of Mitt’s implemented. I would love the optics of that meeting. RWNJ heads will explode for sure.

I could definitely do without PBO meeting with Romney. But if he thinks Romney has something positive to offer the country then let them have at it. It’s my hope though from reading comments like those above made by Romney that Willard will actually talk himself out of the meeting before it has a chance to take place.

            November 14, 2012 at 5:37 pm

The absolutely cruelest thing PBO can do is have Willard come to the White House. The Press corps doesn’t get it. They think it’s all a nicey-nice idea…..but you and I know Willard cannot STAND the idea that he will be in the WhiteHouse at the invitation and sufferance of President Obama!!! I think that is just absolutely delicious. The president will listen to his drivel, and do exactly what he wants to. Remember that the only thing he praised about Romney was the WINTER Olympics. Not nearly as big a deal as London’s Summer Olympics. He did not praise his governing of MA, his business expertise at Bain….nothing else, just the Olympics, which the federal bailout rescued. Also, imagine Ann’s feelings if she is invited and accepts! The press just gets silly ideas.
The kindest thing PBO can do for Willard is to ignore him, but the press right now won’t let him. They are so backwards.

Melanie, I have no doubt that the president will handle this meeting with grace and then move on to the real work he was elected to do. And honestly, I don’t care because it’s just a tiny detail in his already massive agends.

              November 14, 2012 at 6:21 pm

Agree Jackie. He can handle a meeting with Romney and come out of it making us nothing but proud. Speaking of massive agenda, I started thinking about all the things he has to deal with as the issues were ticked off in the presser. The economy, Benghazi, Petraeus mess, immigration, Iran, whoever Israel might be fighting with on any particular day, climate change, the storm in NY/NJ and of course “the known unknowns.” All of that stuff just makes my head spin but also makes me confident to know that he’s in charge.

While we don’t agree with any of Romney’s many many positions on issues, the fact remains that 59 million citizens voted FOR Mitt Romney and the President is president for all 59 million.

TrumpDog, I respectfully disagree with you . Yes I detest lying Romney and the unethical WHP, but the mark of a great leader is to be magnanimous to the people he/she defeated and gracious to the people who defeated him/her. Let’s leave vindictiveness and smallness to John McCain, Allen West and Rush Limbaugh.

The President is a brilliant strategist and politician. He always comes out looking the winner. His grace and dignity make all those losers (I’m lookin at you, Boner, McCain, Turtle, sad closet case Miss Lindsay) look foolish. His instincts are to take the high road and he makes damn few missteps. He’s got this.

The President met with John McCain after he vanquished him as well. He appointed Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State and Bill Clinton as his Secretary of Explaining Stuff, even after a rancorous primary.

It’s good behavior to model. It largely disarms and neutralizes your opponent. The gesture means that it is less likely that hurt feelings will fester and grow if two people can meet outside the heat of fierce competition and it heals the wounds felt by half the nation who supported your opponent.

The burden is now on Mitt to show and prove that he’s all about serving the nation rather than his ambition.

It didn’t work because McCain is a vindictive small man. But that does not mean that President Obama was wrong in meeting with him after the election. I played sports in high school and college and was taught that good sportsmanship requires you to shake hands with the opposing team irrespective of whether you won or lost. I don’t want my great President stooping to the level of a John McCain or a Mitch McConnell.

[Dynamic Scoring & Loopholes are their dear kith & kin!]:

“What I will not do, I will not have a process that is vague, that says we are going to sort of, kind of, raise revenue and do dynamic scoring or closing loopholes that have not been identified,” Obama said, referring to supply side theories that suggest cutting tax rates creates enough economic growth to offset revenue losses. “The reason I won’t do that is because I don’t want to find ourselves in a position six months from now or a year from now where, lo and behold, the only way to close the deficit is to sock it to middle-class families…. That is my concern. I am less concerned about red lines, per se.”

After reading the last 2 threads and from observation, I think Luke R. and Chris Wallace have the same affliction. They are both adequate men, but are shorter and less impressive than their respective fathers, who were GIANTS. And unfortunately both sons chose to go into their fathers’ fields.

I think both will forever try to best the reputation and esteem of their fathers, but without the intellectual artillery.

Luke is 26 or 27 the most. He can learn and he can grow.

Chris Wallace Not Much….he is over 65 yrs old. There was a tape on C-SPAN in 2005….April 5 or so where Mike Wallace was telling Chris that his decision to work for Fox was not right.

      Yep.

As I said before, whether it’s Willard, George Dumbya, McLame, Lil’ Luke, Jr. Wallace, Donald Chump, etc., these are all legacy screw-ups who are mediocre (or worse) in every way who never would would have made it if Daddy hadn’t greased the skids or covered their unimpressive asses.

And it’s funny how it’s always the most inadequate who are the most entitled. They have nowhere near the skills, intellect, perseverance, magnetism, charisma, curiosity, or distinction as Barack Obama, but yet they think they are superior. It is driving them absolutely insane.

The thing I’ve learned from this election is that those people who we hear speaking on TV and the radio don’t actually know what they’re talking about. 63 million people voted for President Obama. Romney voters voted against President Obama (because they certainly weren’t voting FOR anything), and there were less people who voted against President Obama than voted FOR President Obama. I now regard these political talkers as forms of entertainment – and I’ve been catching up on a lot of my taped shows that actually do provide me with entertainment.

Just like Romney and McCain 2008, I suspect the Repugs are going to pay a high price if they continue to underestimate PBO. He’s had his mojo back for awhile and it shows. Love it!

    • 85 theo67
      November 15, 2012 at 1:24 am

Personally, I think the President has always had his mojo, it’s just people were expecting to see it in a form that they recognized. Most of those people value things like blustering and bullying and false, shallow bravado. And they put little stock in earnestness, consistency, grace, strength (real strength that perseveres in the face of obstruction and challenges), wisdom, dignity and respect for others. I think the essense – or mojo – of President Obama has not changed. What’s changed is the people who were supposed to support him through those tough battles, but many of them sat back and did nothing – they all got their mojo back. And it’s about time.

It’s interesting that when Willard provided universal healthcare coverage in Massachusetts, which covered contraception and abortion that was something he was rightly proud of. When the President uses the same model and mechanisms to cover the entire nation, Mitt characterizes them as gifts or bribes to get African Americans, young people, women and Latinos to vote for him.

Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney have shown that the have no class.

I hope the people that were praising his sorry-ass concession speech (‘I’m praying for him’, ‘Ann would have made a great First Lady’) now see what a committed a-hole he is.

He has nothing to lose and everything to gain by being gracious in loss, now that he is just a citizen and he decides to take the low road.

By Jennifer Martinez and Ramsey Cox
Cybersecurity legislation failed in Senate for a second time on Wednesday despite calls from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and other national security officials for Congress to pass a bill.

A procedural motion to move forward on the Cybersecurity Act, introduced by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Susan Colins (R-Maine), was rejected on a 51-47 vote.

But one senator can stop it if they proceed with the filibuster rule. One senator can hold an appointment. That why McCain is being such a D I C K. So he is trying his best to tarnish and destroy the reputation of Dr. Susan Rice.

If after this press conference and the press is still giving McCain the benefit of the doubt….especially when McCain help confirm Dr. Condoleezza Rice……then shame on the media Lindsey and McCain.

  40. November 14, 2012 at 7:38 pm

Bill Burton’s tweet with the video ‘Barack Obama responds to John McCain’ is absolutely the most awesome
soul inspiring video for today. I have listened to it a zillion times today and each time I listen my grin
gets wider and wider. He kicked ass in that video. And these fools and old farts like McCain will never learn.
They still haven’t figured out this massive intellectual force of nature that is President Barack Hussein Obama.

Ohhhh….and add to that today’s Press Conference! Ay ya yi! He put some more hurting on the old fools. NICE!

That’s my Prez. Love, love, love him.

My yellow lab got into a fight with another dog! She got hurt and have to take her to the vet. I am very, very worried!

    • November 14, 2012 at 7:55 pm

OH NO!!! Thinking good thoughts jeff!!! HUGS TO YOUR LAB!!!

    • November 14, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Oh Jeff, nightmare! My (half) lab has long since left me, but he never stopped getting in to fights, and often ended up with lumps taken out of him. It was a misery. But he ALWAYS pulled through – and lived until he was 15. Hope your lab is okay, they’re sturdy gems!

        November 14, 2012 at 8:06 pm

my brother just drove her to the vet. Phew I had to watch over her while he got the other dogs owners phone number. She is so incredibly sweet and never gets in fights with other dogs, the other dog was the aggressor.

        • November 14, 2012 at 8:10 pm

Oh Jeff, hope she’ll be fine. My fella never started fights, but crikey, once they started there was no holding him back! A bit like Amk.

            November 14, 2012 at 8:15 pm

            lol! I like AMK!

I think she’ll be fine. The other owner will be paying the bill. My brother was the one that walked her when the dog (a golden retriever) attacked her.

He told me about the fight and I examined Tilly to make sure she was okay when I spotted the wound. :(

            • November 14, 2012 at 8:18 pm

jeff, I hope everything turns out OK for you both!

            • November 14, 2012 at 8:20 pm

Oh heck, my dog nephew is a Golden Retriever :???:

My fella’s most epic fight resulted in him losing a large chunk of his right ‘knee’. I told him he was a dick, but it didn’t seem to register. I honestly think I was way more traumatized by the experience than him, he just trotted along merrily.

Honest Jeff, I think our beloved doggies are 900% tougher than the humans who love them! Wishing your girl all the best!

No, no, no – don’t smother me in love, smother me with ‘jeez, you’re a right eejit’ greetings. I can handle it. Feeling silly, Jeez, yes. Be warned: Tomorrow’s Rise and Shine might be a little bit *** CRANKY ***.

Oh no, chips. Sorry. How did it happen? Were you practicing your award-winning cartwheels again? Tripped over the baking mess in the kitch? You’ll be allowed a maximum amount of crankiness. That’s a bummer.

      • November 14, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Dotster3, Lisa and Meta, thank you for your concern – although I’m a little hurt by Dotster asking if it happened while I was baking.

I hope it’s not a fracture, but sprains are just as painful. If a sprain, need to apply Ice and keep it elevated. Crutches to avoid putting pressure are also a must. Wishing you a quick recovery.

      • November 14, 2012 at 8:32 pm

Nathkatun, you’re very lovely. Ankle now looks like:

But very probably not broken due to fact my bones are weirdly steel-like and have always resisted breakiness.

Will keep it elevated, I’m sure all will be good in the morning, although if the Rise and Shine is severely grumpy you’ll know all is not healed. :???:

        • November 14, 2012 at 8:40 pm

Chips, 4 years ago when I was in Denver for the DNC, I tripped on a weird stairwell that had a long drop to the landing and sprained my ankle beyond recognition. It was super painful and as you say, horribly embarrassing. It swelled up the size of a grapefruit. I was in agony and luckily I had a couple of days to deal with it before the convention started but OMG, what a nightmare. That ankle still gave me trouble every now and then for a couple of years. Please do what you can to relieve the pain and follow your doctor’s orders!!

          • November 14, 2012 at 8:46 pm

Oh heck Meta, you poor thing! When my first embarrassing catastrophe happened I was due to go to DC two days later …. had to cancel the whole thing. Flippin’ nightmare, over something so, so, so, so, SILLY!

          November 14, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Wow, you must be in serious pain. Thankfully you have such a great sense of humor which helps you divert attention from your pain. By the way I gave you advice based on my personal experience with sprains and fractures. When I was 49 I stupidly broke my ankle trying to run down steps at age 49. I suppose I thought that I was still as quick as a teenager. Frankly, I was so embarrassed before I realized that I was in so much pain. I ended up in a cast for six months. To this day my ankle has never been right. Please take good care and get well soon. Whether you like it or not, we love you so much and can’t bare to know that you are in pain.

Teeheehee! You know, CT, I forgot all about Chips’ youthfulness. Never thought about the fact one day I’d be really, really glad one of my old friends has 21yr old ankles. To be reminded you will be able to heal quickly is truly reassuring, CC. There’s a reason for everything!

Chips Chica, you probably should do one OR TWO of those timed, ‘slow-release’, robo-post for tomorrow and have yourself a REAL rest. Yes, I know you don’t type with your ankle, but think of the joy of resting without thinking about whether the thread is too full or not. Try it, please.

Jonathon Alter was on Ed talking about McLame’s bitterness. His solution to possible filibustering of Rice? PBO and McLame should get together and work out their differences. My belief? PBO isn’t the one with the problem. McLame is bitter and angry and he won’t stop till he either retires or keels over and dies in the middle of one of his anti-Obama diatribes.

    • 231 nathkatun7
      November 14, 2012 at 9:30 pm

On McCain, I don’t think the President needs to do anything more. He reached out to him and gave him all the respect and accolades after the 2008 election. Instead, McCain chose to give the President his middle finger. McCain is a small minded, bitter, and vindictive man who never overcame his defeat by the President. I think a great deal of his attitude stems from his sense of entitlement.
