Chat away while I go eat. Bob? I’m leaving you in charge – try and get everyone to refocus, thanks. (Good luck with that).

Smile
2nd? who me?
Yay Proud!
Thanks everybody
Congrats, Proud!
Congrats PFWHI!
Congrats Don! Sensation Second!
I’m meant sensational… I’m little discombobulated with all the pretty man pics floating around. I’m gonna have to take a break!
Today is my last day of peace before heading out to NOLA to spend time with my LOUD ASS FAMILY for Thanksgiving.
I should pack for my trip to NOLA, but I can’t stop looking at this pic of Idris Elba… pic.twitter.com/36qOL6RY.
The voice in my head keeps telling me, “Get Up, LAMH and get your azz to packing…but…well did you look at the picture…lol
ok, ok, I’m packing now.
If I don’t post again these next few days, Hope everyone has a good holiday week, whatever that entails.
here’s the pic in case it didn’t show
photo/1
Ohhhh no! First The Shirt, now this!
I can’t take much more! lamh, why did ya do it to me! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
yeah…… my hormones should be classified as a weapon.
You’d think my hormones at shriveled up and gone dormant by my age, but these photos today…… spring is in bloom!
You make my day, girlfriend!
I’m home for lunch and missed all the hubbub! Hubba Hubba! He really IS stunning:) And “the shirt”….oh my!!! What a great lunch:)
OKAY….THAT’S IT…Monday is officially blown!! First the President and that shirt…NOW IDRIS??!!! Good googa moooga… Okay, let’s all admit, days before turkey day, who is REALLY focused out there??!!
BTW, Lamh, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and give your mom an extra special hug. See you on your return!
This picture reminds me of a childhood game we used to play called “thread your needle!”
President Obama is so handsome. He has the best smile since President Kennedy’s. lol.
Agree with that! LOL!
Chips, Jeez, I’m single, alone in a new country and cold, have mercy on a girl!
The other day when I learned that Scout T. lurked in TOD I wondered if others from PBO’s administration do as well, and I’m all red at what they may be thinking at seeing the Shirt and Feet threads.
Congrats on first and second, Proud and Don.
Bev, it’s okay. They’re all human and, if they work for PBO, they gotta have a sense of humor!
We Dems find the joy where ever we can and share it with the world!
And the world is VERY happy that you share with us!
(Also you have the most awesome taste in music and your Avatar is Uhura and I think you are all that ~blushes~)
Well, thanks Friend! (now I’m blushing)
Beverly, I co-sign your statement about Dudette9t9′s “awesome taste in music.” She radiates so much joy and love and laughter.
Oh stop it, you guys! You’re very sweet! I thank you both for your very kind words. Really! Love ya! Now cut it out!
“Now cut it out! ” No way! You bring so much joy to this site and the least we could do is acknowledge you. I already told you that if I were still young I would love to party with you because you seem to be full of life.
Thanks nath! Hey, you’re never too old to party as long as the music moves ya (even a little)!
For all we know, they could be quietly sitting on naughty mats themselves (men and women, alike). I know I would if I was exposed to President Obama in person every day. Too much goodness there!
Theo, I hope the TOD Naughty Mat is a magical one that expands to fit as more people join, otherwise I think people may be barely clinging to the edges to fit, me included.
Big Top Circus Tent!
I see a few might have fallen off already…
That faint sound you hear is me fallin’ deep into the abyss! She’s goooooooonnnnnnnnnee!
There’s a trampoline at the bottom, Dudette – bounce your way on back up here! We need you!!
Chips, I’ve done many difficulty things during my life but ‘being in charge’ of this group is beyond ‘Mission Impossible’
BBL – several hours of meetings ahead
Cheers!!!
CATS ARE RUNNING EVERYWHERE!!! haaalp!
‘several hours of meetings ahead’
Bobfr = chicken! But a smart one.
VC, Bobfr is smart to leave people here alone to go wild and enjoy themselves as they see fit. I view today as an extension of our TOD family celebration for re-electing this great man. Given the amount of work, energy, and love, that all the ladies at TOD put in to re-elect the president, I see no harm done if they spend a day fawning about their president they love so much.
Speaking as a man, I have to admit that the President, who is absolutely in top physical form, looked very good in that “SHIRT.” Looking back, I wish I could have been able to wear a shirt like that when I was 51 and look as good in it as he does. Sadly, then and now, my bulging stomach which started creeping in on me after I turned 45, would have made that fabulous shirt look bad.
Although they didn’t want to appear obvious, I think all the fawning ladies here are more impressed with the man wearing the shirt than they are about the shirt itself. I also think those opting for the naughty mat are giving FLOTUS a major complement. After all, she is the one who picked him long before he was introduced to the world. And, once again speaking as a man, I am envious that the President picked such a gorgeous lady who also happens to be extremely smart, compassionate, and a people person.
It’s a gorgeous day here in San Diego. It felt good to come here and see people going “good crazy” about the President’s sexy look in “THE SHIRT.” This sure beats all the gloom and doom that sometimes accompanied all the negative polls and negative stories from the media during the long presidential campaign.
Nath, I’m in agreement with all you’ve said. I have no problems with my family having fun, or with Bobfr’s ‘decision’
even though in the past they have sometimes made be blush. The truth is, I know their heart for PBO and I really like to tease them. My feeling is if we can’t let our hair down together from time to time without going off the rails, how strong is our bond?
Did he say SEVERAL HOURS??!! Who brought the cheese puffs?
Perfect, Tally! You could add the one of Ang San Sui Kyi there, too, when she was squeeing after the kissing of the cheeks… There’s no defense.
You need to be on that one babe, I haven’t seen it. Come on, do a girl a solid.
I think I got it.
Not quite, but that’s probably the best I can do from work.
Love that pic!! Here ya go:
Thanks Tally – hard to get it right with restricted access…
I just dragged the photo to my desktop (I’m a MAC), then uploaded it in my tweet.
We’re not a MAC shop at work – and our firewall is like trying to get into KG6. Sounds like it’s a lot easier. I have to save to my desktop, reply to the original tweet, upload, hope I don’t get a firewall error, etc.
GAH!!!!
PERFECTION PERSONIFIED!!!!
Hahahahah…perfect.
There’s that look again – the same one in the eyes of many toddler girls who come face to face with PBO! I remember the little one in the blue dress.
Thailand’s Prime Minister is really gorgeous. Australia’s Prmie Minister needs to slow her roll. ( I said the same thing when he visited Australia)
“Somebody get Michele.” lol…
The shirt, well, he wears it well. Miche would compliment it so much if she was standing next to him.
He is handsome on the outside but when he is with Michele, he glows from the inside. The energy between the two of them is magnetic. They are always touching each other as if they cannot help themselves. I love when she hugged him on stage from behind on the night of the election.
When I look at the photos of them hugging, it warms my heart. To be able to share love like that is truly heaven on earth.
I saw the shirt POTUS had on and it wasn’t all that HOT.
Anniebella – It wasn’t so much the shirt itself, as the FIT of the shirt, and the beautiful man inside the shirt…
It’s not sure so much the shirt itself as the man inside it and how he wears it SO WELLl!
Okay guys, I know, POTUS can wear a rag and some will say it’s the greatest thing ever. GQ. It did nothing for me.
Good grief!
I am just saying how I feel, we can do that right.
Wait, there’s a hot pic of PBO in a rag? Where??? I’ve got to see this!!!!!
Anniebella, this is for you…
http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/dr-oz-interviews-first-lady-michelle-obama?video=14536
A reminder of why Mrs Obama is the only one who rocks President Obama’s boat and try as they may, why no other woman will ever do…
(Even Dr. Oz is clearly smitten…)
raotflmbo!!!
*teehee*
That’s okay anniebella. We know you love and respect our President for his character and principles – which is most important.
BUT..we’re taking a teeny weeny superficial break to indulge ourselves for a bit
Just checking in at lunch time, why is Australian PM back nest to PBO again? Miiiicccccchhhheeellllle, best be checking THAT ONE.
The Australian PM is not doing anything different from what most of the ladies here would do if they were in the presence of the President. She simply displays her admiration and respect for him. I wish you guys would give her a break.
Teeheeheee! Envy, pure and simple, Nath.
i think she does an admirable job of enjoying his company and getting important work done. his star quality and his handsome presence are distracting, and yet he is there to work with leaders in the region on issues of mutual benefit. we’re the ones that can’t get a damn thing done when he’s looking so handsome!
lolololol tell it Nathkatun.
Because he smells so good! My computer told me so!
Maybe this is why the DOW is way up today?
Ok, I just had a squee moment. A young boy came in with his dad. The boy had a school project where he had to ask community members what they did for the community. So he chose to ask a librarian! So cute. At the end he said he wanted my job.
Excellent – we need more librarians! And people who like to read and research!!
Awesome! That young man is the future! You have done us all a great service LL!
Okay, what does this ‘squee’ really mean, and don’t tell me look it up like my old latin teacher** used to. Dudette is always using it and I’m always left to draw my own conclusions.
** Old latin teacher in didactic (and irritating) tone “Look it up! Look it up! Write it down! Reading maketh a full man, writing an exact man.”
verb: To squeal with glee; from a combination of the two words; the sound of an excited fangirl
noun: A feeling of excitement and happiness, such that one feels like squeeing
Thank you….I think.
I know that languages live, grow and sometimes die, but (hand over heart) it pains my heart to see/hear what’s being done to my mother tongue.
because….. it’s AWESOME.
Hey LL – when’s that SoCali Obama Victory BBQ?
I am thinking the weekend between Xmas and NYE, since I’m taking a staycation that week.
squeeeeeeee!
awwhhhhh!
I know the first thing right wingers try to do in their so called austerity budgets is cut money for public institutions, and in particular public libraries. They don’t realize that libraries are the life-blood of civilization. Many poor people, and even middle class people, can’t afford to buy books and especially reference books. They can’t afford to make regular subscription to newspapers, magazines, journals, etc. Without the public libraries, they are doomed to remain ignorant.
From CNBC: Twinkies Saved! Hostess, Bakers Union Agree to Mediation, Avoiding Shutdown (Story developing)
Obama’s fault!
Are you telling the truth bluemoon? I hope so.
All that goodwill & yumminess he’s got floating around in the atmosphere has gotten people wanting to sit down and talk it out!
…that and millions of people bitching about not getting their Twinkies & Ho Hos!
America will do ANYTHING to save its junk food addiction. You can bet on that.
He once made a mistake just to see how it would feel, rabbits use his foot for good luck, he’s the most interesting man in the world……Barack Obama.
LOL!! Might as well break this one oldie, but goodie out…
haaaaaaa – LOVE THIS!!! It reminds me of #MikeMageeFacts – seriously – twitter search it. That’s the superhawt Galaxy midfielder who looks like Bradley Cooper’s little brother, who jumped into the goalkeeper position back in 2011, when our main goalie broke his arm, then 2nd goalie got red carded out of the game 20min later, and having never played in goal before – had a SHUT OUT. Thus a LEGEND was born:
or here is a compilation of hilarity.
GAH

Oh my gawd. I love, love this. Never saw it before. This in addition to the shirt is a lot to behold today. Someone mentioned above that the shirt wasn’t that great. True. The shirt isn’t. But it is rare that we see PBO in anything other than blue or gray suits or kaki pants. Something different that fits so well is a treat for me. I’ll loving the vitual.
Dudette, isn’t it a bit too early in the day for this? Aren’t you still at work? Just asking.
NEVAH too early for the SWAGGAH! It’s motivational!
Luckily I’m not at work today! Tee-hee!
But about to head out! Catch you guys later!
Okay. Have a good evening!
darn you dudette! i’m supposed to be cleaning the house, getting ready for thanksgiving, but no. gotta sit here watching this video! maybe just once more…
LOL!!
I too am supposed to be cleaning for all the company Thursday, but just had to watch that delicious slideshow of swagger!
This may seem like a small thing, but I have truly appreciated that President Obama learned how to salute correctly right from the start. He holds his hand at the correct angle and snaps it smartly.
Clinton always looked half-apologetic, I really don’t like to do this, and kind of rounded his hand, and half shrugged. GWB looked awkward doing it, like he did at everything. He was a little boy pretending the whole time.
As the daughter, wife and other of three vets, this meant a lot to me. Just one more thing that he understands and does well.
O.K. after viewing this, Dudette, I think it’s time for us men to confess that our President is what’s happening! I am sure I am not wrong when I say that many women wish they could have him and many men wish they could be like him.
I love this!
Please, Don, don’t bring up the “foot” again. Can’t take it. Ha ha!
I remember Senator Harry Reid sending that old fool John McCain a letter telling him there will not be any special investigation.
Yep, he did.
Excellent.
He was chosen to be the 7th wonder of the world; but he declined, Dear Abby gets advice from him, he’s the most interesting man in the world.……..Barack Obama.
Ha. Ha. Ha. Funny
Well done!!
people line up to give him their iphones; the ocean begs him to bodysurf; he’s the most interesting man in the world…barack obama.
So, in addition to making history on this trip, and inspiring the world, the President is also monitoring the situation in Gaza AND he’s going to meet separately (mediate?) with Japan and China – who are currently in dispute over a set of islands? I don’t know how he does it!
that is the truth and nothing but the truth theo67. President Obama is an amazing man.
And I also love how he’s able to compartmentalize. His mind must be in so many places, but yet he still manages to be in the moment. I think all of the Asian hosts feel like he’s with them, appreciating their culture and valuing their time – even though there are so many HUGE problems sitting on his place – fiscal drama, faux Benghazi-gate, Gaza, Japan-China, and then the general business of running the country (ending war in Afghanistan, dealing with daily economic and national security reports, supporting cabinet members, etc).
Oh – and he’s got to pardon a turkey the afternoon he gets back from the trip…
So what’s going on Chipsticks I can’t say how I feel? Are you cutting me off, because I disagree with you all.
We were having some fun Anniebella, you didn’t seem to understand that.
I for one, appreciate the brevity, you know?!! We all rocked it hard in our own way to reelect PBO and now we’re coming up on some serious downtime. It’s nice to know that we can have fun with each other as well as go into battle.
+ 1,000,000,000,000,000,000!
Couldn’t agree more StayingSteady, we all need some light relief now and then, it’s been a tough road!
Chips, I totally agree with both you and StayingSteady. What is life without moments of fun and laughter. I wish Anniebella would relax and enjoy the humor. Just because I fawn over Michelle Obama’s looks and intellect doesn’t mean that I am disrespecting the President. On the contrary, I am giving the President a complement for having chosen a gorgeous lady who is also very smart. I bet you Michelle Obama, who has a great sense of humor, and is very secure, would love all the ladies here fawning over her hubby. She would probably post a comment saying: “Sorry TOD ladies, BO is mine. You’ll can’t have him!”
The beauty of this place is that so many people who post here are serious people and passionate supporters of the President; but they are also fun loving people with a great sense of humor. As I said in a comment on a previous thread, I really enjoyed “THE SHIRT” craze today. I saw it as a continuation of our celebration for having re-elected our great President.
Anniebella, at 82 on my last birthday, I could appreciate the cut of The Shirt but still be calm, cool, and collected about President Obama INSIDE it, because I’m long past it. *It* being the operative word (so to speak). But it’s fun to read about all the paroxysms it’s causing. StayingSteady, I think you meant that you appreciated “the levity” because nothing could describe the comments after The Shirt went up as brief.
Oh NO!! You’re so right! LOL Thanks for the correction. I get that one and complement/compliment mixed up too. Smiles, hugs and love ya for loving pointing me in the right direction. Okay…back to the party!!!
[OT on Live Shirt, etc.
]:
As most of you know, George P Bush (Son of a Jeb) is running for office in Texas. Although he refuses to say what office, his Dad is asking people to give him money to run for Land Commissioner.
What does a Land Commissioner do, you ask?
“The Texas General Land Office serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and all people of Texas by preserving their history, protecting their environment, expanding economic opportunity, and maximizing state revenue through innovative administration and prudent stewardship of state lands and resources.”
George P is a real estate developer. Fox, meet hen house.
He has a website, and typical of the Bushes, it looks real pretty but contains very little.
His campaign treasure is Kit Moncrief, the socialite wife of a Fort Worth oilman, who was also a bundler for Mitt Romney.
So a Bush real estate developer wants to guard Texas land with support from a 1%er.
What could possible be wrong with that?
http://juanitajean.com/2012/11/19/george-p-bush/
The comments are hilarious! One of my favs:
“zyxomma says:
November 19, 2012 at 11:01 am
Not to mention that he looks totally, Michele-one-L CRAZY. Look at those eyes!”
“Michele-one-L CRAZY” LOL
Seriously though, is this country crazy enough to put another Bush in office for anything???? Jeb is the repug front-runner for 2016; any other rethug name mentioned is jut smoke and mirrors — the big boys want Jeb.
Up next on Martin Bashir — GOP’s plan to take back WH in 2016 with none other than Jeb Bush! LOL
Good luck GOP with that one. I think landscaping this country with Bushes is ovah! So ovah!!!
His picture in that post sure is scary! LOL! Nope, can’t see him being voted in for national office any time soon!
Will we never be rid of these meddlesome Bushes?!?! Damn!
Me things Jeb Jr. needs a Democratic challenger.
Eclipses want to see him, the waters do recede, he’s the most interesting man in the world……Barack Obama
Don are you making these up as you go down the thread – or are you getting them from somewhere?
I enjoy reading them!
It’s a “gift,” no pun intended.
Thanks for the early holiday gift!
These are awesome Don, keep them coming! LOL
Don, I now realize that TOD ladies are not alone in fawning about our great President!
The best phrase, Don, in your first (tweet-worthy) line is, “Cool wants to be him.”
Inspiration once asked him to be their keynote speaker; he’s the most interesting man in the world.
Don, these are twitter worthy. . . can I tweet them??

WASHINGTON (AP) — Aretha Franklin says “it was fabulous” to have first lady Michelle Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder attend her show in Washington, D.C.
The Queen of Soul sang for Mrs. Obama and Holder — as well as for about 3,000 fans at DAR Constitution Hall on Saturday night. Afterward, Franklin said it was great to see her VIP guests relax and “shake their hips a little,” especially after a tough reelection campaign.
Franklin has performed for Mrs. Obama before — at the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Franklin told The Associated Press she doesn’t think there will be an encore in 2013, though if invited she “would certainly come and would love to sing.”
Franklin also paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston, singing “I Will Always Love You.”
what?!!? when do we get to see this concert? looovvvvvee aretha!
It was Saturday. Don’t think it was televised.
Was away for most of the morning so missed the fun on the shirt thread but this group was hysterical! Nice to come back to some good laughs.
Also ran through today’s “Now with Alex” which I record. Very interesting discussion on PBO in Burma with Nick Kristol about the trip. Alex is very thrilled because her mom is a Burmese refugee! It’s always interesting when these personal implications for PBO’s actions surface. It’s easy to forget what a dramatic impact his actions have on so many people around the world. He’s taking a lot of criticism for not being in the forefront of the Gaza negotiations but I think it is smart for two reasons. First, we do not have much credibility when Israel is involved because of our close ties. It is time that Israel learns the world is changing and it should learn to get along with its neighbors. Second, I am one American who is tired of our involvement in trying to resolve every violent uprising. The US clearly is engaged behind the scenes and I’d like to see us stay unless it is absolutely necessary, i.e., Iran. I’ll take smart over bellicose any day.

That is very nice. good get theo67
Very nice. Thanks theo!
That is really a lovely picture. Says a lot!
On another note, aren’t you glad you don’t have to climb all those steps as people stand at the base, looking at your ass!
LOL — I just got finished counting them — 26!
Damn, 26 salutes to your ass!
Good grief, yes!
So true!
they’ve been a great team, and i’m sure they’re both feeling the impending change.
Indeed. PBO/Hillary romance is really of the most amazing stories of the past 4 years. Pure greatness.
Yes indeed, BWD! This is what happens with people who respect each other and are secure in their own skins. Both SoS, Hillary Clinton, and VP, Joe Biden, have been amazing the way they have worked harmoniously with a man who defeated them in an election.
those people who yell and scream that obama cave on the tax deal, looking very silly now. obama have a better hand now then 2years ago.
he won the election on raising the tax on the 1 percent plus he have the republican on the run.
Ali Velshi kept going on about this yesterday without giving the context that the so-called “caving” was in exchange for unemployment insurance and food stamp extensions for millions of people who would have gone into the holidays without enough money to buy food or put a roof over their heads because of the recession caused by GOP greed and other foolish people. He didn’t just decide to give the rich two more years of free money – the GOP were willing to punish millions in order to get those tax cuts for the rich, and the President decided he couldn’t play with people’s lives over the holidays, in order to sock it to the GOP and their rich masters. Does anyone remember the speech he gave about those who prefer to sit on their sanctimonious high horses, rather than dealing with reality?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/07/AR2010120707214.html
And here’s a little list of the Democrats who thought he was a fool to trade this two year extension so that people could get unemployment benefits and food stamps. I wonder if they’ll apologize – even if it’s behind closed doors…

Okay TOD family, I have a question. When I see or read about Our President, an international man of change, respect, hope, equality for all, looked to by so many other countries, nations as a man of intellect and wisdom beyond his years, I continue to get teary eyed, do I have to live with teary eyes for four more years?
Probably so, Anna, but those are good tears! We are all so thrilled that he is our President and leader of the world…..we cried for other reasons from 2000-2008, so this is good! I understand what you mean. I can remember every president since Harry Truman, and have never been so affected emotionally by any other one. He has within him a power none of the others had, and I include JFK, who was president during my youth, for a short time.
No other U.S. president has captured the world’s love and heart either like this one. I believe that when people around the world look at him, they see possibilities…..born poor with no one to pull him into the inner circle, a mixed race person who endured persecution as a child, and now, but incredibly bright and intuitive and disciplined. He truly personifies the world’s dreams.
Carolyn, I so agree. I, too, remember every president since Truman and agree that PBO is unique. JFK had a lot of charisma, but I never all out loved any president as I do Barack Obama. He truly touches my heart.
I’ve been coming here to look (and to keep sane) for months, but I have promised myself I will lurk no longer. Thanks for all the wonderful photos and comments on your website. This is dedication indeed and I absolutely love coming here. Thanks, too, for keeping the “no drama” rules in place during those crazy days surrounding the election. I probably won’t comment often, but I do read and appreciate daily. Thanks to everyone who “lives” here for giving me a home for my deep and loving gratitude for President Obama and everything he is and does.
Hi Lana! *waves*
Thanks for the greeting PoliticalJunkessa! *waves back*
I’ve become a political junkie too, I guess…
‘lurk no longer’
our president is a magnet for all that’s good in us; glad to have more joy to share!
Ahhh. Thanks, suzanne! This site does bring joy to my heart.
Welcome, Lana! Glad you decided to de-lurk. TOD is the bestest place for all of the news about PBO. I’m addicted to the joint. LOL
Me too! Glad I’m starting to be a part of it all as we move forward.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas Strip restaurant bearing the initials of celebrity financier Donald Trump was briefly shut down after health inspectors found violations including month-old caviar and expired yogurt. [...]
While ready-to-eat food can be stored for up to seven days, inspectors at DJT reported finding the old caviar and yogurt, duck that dated back to June, veal stock and tomato sauce that was almost two weeks old, and expired peanut dressing and black bean chili.
Inspectors found no measures to destroy parasites in undercooked halibut and salmon, and noted that raw tuna was being improperly thawed. Icicles were found in a faulty freezer.
This is DJT at Trump International Hotel.

Freedom again!
Oh, for the love of Pete!
dear ron paul
your beloved myth gave you the answer: self-deport.
bye now,

Exactly, “people (and that includes corporations)” CAN secede…it’s called denoucing your citizenship and leaving the country and go where whoever the hell wants you….buh bye.
Why are we not talking about the shirt? I can’t leave you people for a minute. Man.
Blame Bobfr. Chips left him in charge! LOL. Sorry, Bobfr, just kidding.

Hostess executives agreed to mediation only after the Department of Justice thwarted their request to pay additional bonuses this afternoon.
(Reuters) – Hostess Brands Inc, the maker of the iconic Twinkies snack cake, will square off in a bankruptcy court on Monday against an agent of the U.S. Justice Department, who says the wind-down plan is too generous to management.
The U.S. Trustee, an agent of the U.S. Department of Justice who oversees bankruptcy cases, said in court documents it is opposed to the wind-down plan because Hostess plans improper bonuses to company insiders.
The 82-year-old Hostess wants permission to pay senior management a bonus of up to 75 percent of their annual pay so they will stay on and help wind-down the business.

President Obama was moved by the crowds that greeted him in Myanmar, Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, said during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One Monday. “The President was very moved by the outpouring of people lining the streets,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes continued: “And then I’d say, look, in each meeting, the leaders could not have been more positive and gracious. And President Thein Sein went out of his way; multiple times in the meeting he used the President’s campaign slogan. You heard him do it in his public comments, but he did — multiple times in the bilat he said, ‘I want to do what you’ve been talking about, I want to move forward’… So I think he was struck by the welcome he received from the people. He had a very positive meeting with the president in terms of the warmth with which he was received.”

Thanks for this information, Donna. I can’t imagine any U.S. president going to Asia and achieving what PBO has achieved. He is truly a president that other world leaders respect. He’s the real deal. When these leaders meet him, they know he really cares about them and their citizens. I think this is one of the main reasons the republicans hate him so. He can make genuine connections to others– no matter where they live. I remember seeing how uncomfortable GWB was when he went to other countries, and all I see from PBO when he visits any foreign nation is warmness, openness, and respect.
POTUS has been preparing for this for a long time. I can only imagine there was a ton of behind-the-scenes building of relationships over a long period of time by his very capable staff on all levels to prepare for this wonderful reception. Everyone knows he is a visionary and they are open to his guidance. It’s a dream come true for all involved.
Very nice sentiments. I’m so happy PBO is being received so warmly and graciously. Thanks, Donna!
Wow – this is really wonderful. I’m often touched when I hear that people can see the President waving from his car. Despite all the hoopla, he still connects with people at a very direct level. And I love hearing that he really does appreciate the outpouring of emotion and support – that he’s not so deep inside the bubble and he does get to see it and feel it. Those crowds were simply amazing – I was quite surprised that the reception was so enormous – during a work day! It must have been something to see the thousands lined up along the road, and see the wonderful, welcoming signs. And I’m glad his people told everybody that he saw them.
Brief break – looks like everyone (almost) is having a much deserved fantastically fun time … ROCK ON!!!! The TOD crew certainly earned it on 6 Nov 2012!!!!
And, I’d never lie to you folk – am truly stuck in meetings for at least another two hours that simply cannot have me cracking up with laughter!!!!
Bobfr, It’s a good thing you are in a meeting and had no time to police this site. I think TOD members need a day like this to shower their love on their President who, to be honest, has looked marvelous throughout his SEA trip. It was their love that made them work so hard, for so long, to get him elected for a second term. Any one who is uncomfortable with the purely innocent, and quite humorous I must say, fawning about President Obama needs to relax. I am sure both POTUS and FLOTUS would get a kick-out of TOD’s naughty mat.
” I am sure both POTUS and FLOTUS would get a kick-out of TOD’s naughty mat.”
Have no doubt about it, nath, and I truly hope someone on their staff shared it with them. Great fun!!!! All earned!!!!

The President looked really , really good in the shirt. He seemed so at ease and so confident. I guess it’s nice to get away from the crazy repubs. Anyway It’s wonderful to see folks in other countries showing our President so much love. Better than having folks burning our flag and throwing shows at the President.
Man thinking about the shirt.. anyway that should saying throwing shoes…not shows.
‘ Running for office has often been compared to walking a tight rope without a net or hosting live television. If you are good, it shines through. If you aren’t, it, well, shines through.’
wapo gives an award for the worst political candidate of the year. who would you choose?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/11/19/the-worst-candidate-of-2012/
Although the WP chose Rick Perry, Romney would have been my choice because of the outrageous lies he told, his secretiveness, and his feeling that he deserved to be POTUS because of his wealth.
The only thing I agree with Barbara Bush on was they are ALL losers. Not a decent one in the whole bunch. There was no one worth STEALING the election for…that’s how awful they were.
gotta say….
Alycee!!!!! I love your response!
The last hour of catching up from this morning is like running through a hot house. No man, president or not has a right to look that good in a ‘shirt’! The last fit and good-looking president with the megawatt smile, couldn’t hold a candle to PBO. I’ve seen both of them.
