So then, what was your most loved trip? I’ll go for India, Brazil and Ireland, in no particular order. Anyone who doesn’t put Ireland in their top 3 will get a Newt Mankini. No pressure.

GREAT photos!!
Did you read this? Elie Wiesel and the President to collaborate on a book. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/nov/08/barack-obama-elie-wiesel-book
Can’t wait to read that…

Congrats Rita on 1st!! It took me awhile to just log in. I got too excited when I saw the ‘leave a comment’. My mind, heart, and fingers came to a dead stop for a nano second.
thanks
Chips each group of photos get better and better. This is a real treasure trove. thank you
You’re the loveliest COS, thank you!!
Thanks so much for the photos. You are right Ireland has to be in the favorites, my #1 choice.
Fantastic as usual Chips.
HIDEE O’s
Love it
Congrats on first, Rita! I am speechless at these incredible photos, you’ve outdone yourself yet again Ms Chips! Ireland was most definitely in my top 3, possibly in first place!
Thanks
This is must watch video from Thom Hartmann – it’s 10 min. Worth every second.
Tallly, I’ve watched this twice and wondered if you or anyone here knows — Is there reliable evidence to prosecute for trial? And if so, are there any efforts at DOJ to indict? I Hope so, I would love to see Rove finally pay for all his underhanded tricks.
Tally and Joan, have you read the book on KR by Unger? Very interested read. KR with his vile spirit will not have peace after all, just look back and see all of the ugly and mean things he has had his hands all over and hurt so many people. These things are painful, but surely there is a day of reckoning for the liks of KR.
I will always feel in my heart that Sen. Kerry won in 2004 and with Ohio. I went to bed feeling that we had won that state for him. I hope and pray we will see the truth about KR and justice done. No more people lives being hurt and turned upside down because of this ugly and vile man.HZ
There is a lawsuit about the stolen OHIO 2004 election:
http://truth-out.org/news/item/2319:new-court-filing-reveals-how-the-2004-ohio-presidential-election-was-hacked
I haven’t read that book – I think I’d get so angry my head would explode.
Karma is a Goddess. She’ll get Karl. She started her wrath on election night with his LIVE MELTDOWN which has gone global via the web. That was only the beginning.
Joan – there’s a lawsuit on the 2004 stolen election, that Kerry did indeed win.
http://truth-out.org/news/item/2319:new-court-filing-reveals-how-the-2004-ohio-presidential-election-was-hacked
Just like Gore in 2000.
Which makes it a fact that the GOP have not actually won a presidential “election” since 1988.
I will go for Trinidad because I am from Trinidad. I think however, I love all because they show a respect for each culture and place.
All these beautiful pics! Our President makes us proud…the world loves this man. Drives the GOP crazy…this man “has it” and they Never will.
Wow, just beautiful. Thank you Chips for the memories!!
Chips you have given us a fantastic collection of pictures lady. These are soooo very nice and chronicles the many happy PBO away from home times we’ve shared. Hat tip to you GF.
Lordy, Chips… You are amazing. And there was a SHIRT in Singapore, in 2009, also, wasn’t there?
Can I hope/pray that OFA is well aware of you? Awesome stuff you do, always.
And a happy Thanksgiving to you & yours…
Gato
http://www.partyandsoul.wordpress.com
Gato, oh yeah. OFA is VERY aware of the wonder that is Chica!!! VERY AWARE!!! She’s even gotten responses from VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE. (Personally, I think she’s an insider on the president’s personal staff — only explanation for the fabulous pictures that our sucky media never seems to be able to get… But that’s just me…
)
The media doesn’t give a damn about providing coverage of the president’s trips. If it’s not gossip, they’re not interested. Chips, on the other hand, cares with all her heart and has the skills to give us the best of the best. We are blessed beyond words that all of this goodness is available to us.
Chips, Chipsticks, Chips……Hooray.
Your handiwork is brilliantly displayed.
Lady. you are 15M plus a Lady. Just fantastic.
What a memory? What a sight for FOUR eyes?
Thank you…..sweet, precious one. You are simply, The Very best.
I just received my copy of Scout’s book, ‘Yes We Can’ from Amazon. It’s wonderful and much better than I thought it’d be. It’s a nice coffee table sized book. I can’t believe it was so inexpensive and free shipping.
Ireland, Ireland, Ireland were my top 3 favorite.
Wow look how black his hair was in 2009.
And to cap it off, Chips concluded with THE SHIRT?
Oh, my.
I also saw the back of the pres on the Great Wall of China with that wicked Leather Jacket.
Hmmmmmm, interesting?
This horrible game being played by all these Republican governors that are not implementing the Healthcare Exchanges for their state should be exposed. There was a good explanation of why this matters by Steve Benen: http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/11/20/15311603-what-gop-governors-hope-to-accomplish-on-health-care?lite
Read the original Jonathan cohn article here: http://www.tnr.com/blog/plank/110322/obamacare-oklahoma-lawsuit-federal-exchange-subsidies-cannon#
“The subsidies are in the form of tax credits. So Oklahoma officials and everybody else making this argument are essentially calling upon states to block their citizens from receiving federal tax breaks, worth as much as several thousand dollars per person. Aren’t conservatives and libertarians supposed to be the party that likes giving tax money back to the people?
Of course, Obamacare critics believe that, by blocking the subsidies, they’ll undermine the law’s effectiveness and eventually erode support to the point that people clamor for a conservative alternative.”
Just as when the media failed to report on the all great things that the ACA would accomplish, resulting in a backlash against the act, they are now failing to fully explain what these states are doing and how that’s going to undermine the law and shortchange the people in these states.
HHS will do it for them, the Federal government will implement the exchanges.
And that’s my understanding as well, jovie, but by reading Jonathan Cohn’s article (link above) I found out the following:
“But Obamacare critics think they’ve found a way to undermine that effort, because of some ambiguity in the text of the law: It says very clearly that the federal government can set up exchanges in lieu of the states, but the language is a little fuzzy when it comes to whether the federal government can also offer subsidies through those exchanges.
Michael Cannon, the Cato Institute health care expert who has waged a one-man crusade to stop Obamacare implementation, has been pointing this out for months. In July, he published a paper with Jonathan Adler, of Case Western Law School, arguing that federal attempts to offer subsidies through the exchanges would actually be unconstitutional. ”
So basically these people want Obamacare to fail so badly that they are willing to throw the people in their state under the bus. I expect lawsuits about this and my hope is that, as with all the other lawsuits filed to derail this act, these will fail as well.
Hypocrisy and shameless behavior. Should be exposed for what it is.
Well, if the people want healthcare, they’ll vote out the Republican governors who are blocking it. I’m not too sympathetic to people who vote for Republicans and then are shocked when they act the fool. That’s what they do. That’s why in Maryland, I was very happy to vote against Ehrlich when he ran for governor in 2010. No matter how moderate they appear, Republicans are always pulling some nonsense once they gain power.
A lot of those that this will be affecting are children and the elderly. We need to be sympathetic and to speak out so that it becomes public knowledge. If we don’t speak out, the truth will never be exposed and people will be left with the wrong impression, which the GOP are counting on, that Obamacare does not and will not work. So it’s quite important that we tweet, blog, FB this information so more people know what’s going on.
Well, if the people want healthcare, they’ll vote out the Republican governors who are blocking it. I’m not too sympathetic to people who vote for Republicans and then are shocked when they act the fool. That’s what they do.
THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE!!! x 1,000,000
Check out what your state is doing right here: http://statehealthfacts.kff.org/comparemaptable.jsp?typ=5&ind=962&cat=17&sub=205
By the way thanks to everyone last night on my email full of TOD comments. I opened TOD today with much trepidation fearing a 100 more emails showing up but the advice from amk and Bobfr and others worked! Thanks all!
Chips you are on the ball. I hope you are going to rest and eat a lot of Turkey and watch some football. Oh that’s my plan.
I just wish you the best on turkey day. Love you and thanks for all that you do.
Dudette….are you there? Memory by Barbara Streisand or another remembrance song would be fitting too.
I’m new to this website!! Love it!!
Welcome, Laura:)
Welcome, Laura!
Welcome Laura we love it too.
Yep, you’ll love it for sure. Kind of like a fan club – in fact, it IS a fan club! Welcome and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hey, tomorrow is my bday (just glad I’m having one at this point), but a pic from Chips would be the best present ever! Hint, hint. It’s rare when Turkey Day is so close to my bday. My mom used to cook beef stroganoff for me – my fav dinner at the time. Except when Thanksgiving was close like this. She was busy getting stuff ready for the big meal. Sure do miss her.
I sadly remember when I was young and JFK was assassinated the next day, not the best bday memory to have for sure. First time I remember seeing all that live coverage on the old b&w TV. I will be very grateful if Tweety will stop talking about his JFK book!
My husband is cooking on Thursday just for the two of us. Daughter and grandkids live 5 miles away, but we’re not invited. Long story. Oh well. Maybe I’ll call Dr. Phil. Wow, I didn’t mean to TC! Sorry!
Again, welcome, there are SO many good people on here!
{{Jennifer}} Have a good Thanksgiving, Jennifer!
Jennifer, have a great birthday and a quiet and lovely Thanksgiving.
have a happy birthday, jennifer! enjoy a day of peace and gratitude with your husband.
Welcome aboard Laura
Hi, Laura! Be prepared to be hooked on TOD!
Welcome! :mrgeen:
Welcome Laura. We are a crazy, lovable family. And as families sometimes do, we tussle, but usually make up in the end. Even the occasionally sexist joke posted out by a few ruffians who toss ‘em and run. Don’t mind them, they just like to poke fun…
But UNITED behind POTUS and VPOTUS? ABSOLUTELY!!! Michelle and Jill are favorites too! There are some wicked smart folks on this blog. Join the crew, you’ll get hooked in no time!!
My top three: Ireland, Australia, and the last trip to England with Michelle (when he addressed both houses of Parliament). South America with the family is close.
Thanks for being once again, the best tour guide ever for our Asian travels with PBO.
On second thought I like your choices!! I really loved his speech at Westiminister Abbey. What an honor.
Loved this! Thanks for the reminder.
I even like when the screen grab shows “Barack Obama, President of the United States.” Call me crazy!
That was a brilliant speech. I don’t know how many people actually listened to it, I don’t think much of the MSM did, but he really reset foreign policy for the entire world in that speech. Years from now people will go back and read that and be amazed at what he said, and how consistent he was in carrying out what he said in that speech.
Truth. I cannot wait to see the book, “The Speeches of Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States,” one fine day. Especially since many of us are so ga-ga seeing him give these speeches, at least I’ll admit to that, we don’t absorb each and every word.
i’d never seen this before–what an incredible speech! thank you so much, forus. he is the first american president to be invited to speak there because they were waiting for the best president ever!
watching this, i’m so proud of our president, and of our country for electing, and re-electing him.
and, i must say, i thought of the ridiculous rethug contenders who believed themselves better than pbo. try to imagine, oh say, donald trump in this setting. or lyin’ ryan or myth robmey. ugh.
My favorite trip abroad for him was GHANA. No contest.

Oh, and Brazil!
I have to go with his trip to Canada since I grew up in Canada. But I have to say that I enjoyed all of the photos in this post. Our President and First Lady are classy and represent the US so well.
Brazil was also my favorite CK. I was there in May of this year and I wish I was there right now.
Thanks, Chips, for these beautiful photos encapsulating the first four years of travel. Can’t wait for the next round. I am hoping the President will make more visits to Africa in his second term. Thanks as well for the wonderful pix and commentary from the recent trip — really fun to keep up to speed via all of you. And yes, the shirt…
Ah, yes, there’s always the shirt …
Sigh.
WOW, Chips!!! You keep raising the bar for the quality of your posts and then exceed it, as you’ve done with this one!!! Thank you.
As to John McCain …
… will not let this drop ….
#FORWARD
You are on it…..Sir. Thank you Bobfr.
I have Only hated one person in my life. To tell you the truth, Romney was coming close, but now…..John McCain gets on my last nerve. Hate is a wasted emotion…..but I am almost there for this man, McCain.
Thank you Nena.
“Hate is a wasted emotion …” Have always felt that way. For me, folk like GWB, Romney, Ryan, McCain … the emotion I have for them personally is ZERO. The emotion I have for what people like that do is the emotion that drives me to be sure I do everything I can to keep them from harming others, thus my dedication to President Obama & Joe Biden.
#FORWARD
Bobfr, thanks for staying on this one. It is worth our efforts to do the same. “Hate is a wasted emotion…” Yes, it can be, but the counter-actions and reactions that we take especially when our counter-actions and reactions are for the good cause of standing up and speaking up for another person’s life in this case, Dr. Susan Rice who is a good and decent person whose accomplishments are being attacked by the likes of a vile and mean-spirit man like Sen. McCain. The spirit of despising such a spirit, in my opinion, is a worthy cause to express disdain for that person’s action.
That is why we saw POB reveal to all of us and the world through his words and body language in that press conference when the question was asked of him about Dr. Rice. My brother has very close and decent friends who grew up with Dr. Susan Rice and went to school with her and is still a very close and dear friend of her family. This hurts Susan’s family and friends to hear her name being smeared by Mc Cain and Graham. However, Dr. Susan Rice comes from a great family and POB knows that and former Pres. Clinton as well.
It is painful to watch someone as brilliant as Dr. Susan Rice and her family having to hear this crap about her. My brother’s friend is just besides himself. This crap that is being put out there is shameful and it is poison. I know how I would feel if someone said such ugly remarks about my dear and very brilliant brother who worked so hard to reach his goals, and is still making great accomplishments in his life while giving back to society in a good and decent way.
However, I do not plan to stand by and be silent on this issue. Plus Susan Rice lovely children and dear family has to hear this crap being spewed by these “haters” and it hurts. These fools do not care how others are touched by this crap. But, you know Bobfr, we will get through this. POB is thinking this one out carefully for sure. He does not scare when such fools like McCain and Graham and all the rest try to test him. POB is a fighter for people like Susan Rice who has done nothing to John McCain, but has done excellent work for her country.
These fools are haters, evil and ugly spirits , and I am committed to helping call the likes of McCain and his foolish mean friends out. No one should have to take this crap, and believe me, POB will not take it either. His is faithful to himself and his core, and he certainly will not allow anyone to pick on women especially. Dr. Susan Rice has served us greatly and she will not allow anyone to shame her or taint her name or her family’s name and sacrifices that they made to help her accomplish what she has accomplished.
These old ugly white evil and angry men need to leave POB alone because believe me he will be nice to you, but Do Not Play Him. He will not allow that. So I will support him and Dr. Susan Rice in anyway that I can. HZ
He turns my stomach. So vile and nasty. I am so glad that he’s bitter about losing in 2008. How dare he call Ms. Rice “not so bright” after he chose that idiot Palin as his VP!
Thank you, Bob. DO not let this bitter, ignorant, has been off the hook. I detest this man
Just flick them away.
have mercy please.
he now says he will block any nominee that pbo puts forward. so he admits he can’t or won’t bother to think through the issues, or consider the nominees’ attributes. in other words, he refuses to do his job.
Alrighty, Chips, I’ll take a BOOK with all of your historical Obama pictures. The cover photo can be of him in the suit with the rain gently falling on him. (good idea, huh?
That is my Fave picture on this post……I like that picture second to the one Pres Obama’s head was being touched by the youngster.
VitaminL, I doubt Chips can make a book of these pics as they were not originally taken by her. I can just imagine the copyright nightmare something like that would (?) cause. Probably would be the same scenario for calendars, though I like your idea of having several PBO calendars with a different focus for each. I’m hoping that Pete Souza will make a couple of books once his position is ended. That’s one I aim to buy for sure.
Well, dang it!
Yep. Bummer, in one way, yet we have to consider the ‘artist’ deserves the (monetary) credit for his/her work.
That’s good to hear.
Chips, this post is MAGNIFICENT!! Excellent picture choices! Brava!!!
————–
Ireland’s tops for me (the reception he & FLOTUS received still gives me goosebumps), then France (Wet POTUS!), Brazil, Ghana & Turkey – tie (cuz history, yo!).
I’ve loved them all—-and Chips’ travelogue brought all the beautiful photos here for us to enjoy and experience the trips as if we were there. I choose —–IRELAND!—whew, no mankini for me—-and because I did love every minute there and UK because of Obama’s historic, moving speech to Parliament. And for the 3rd—-it was in 2008 before the election—–but I will never forget the amazing sight of Obama speaking to 200,000 in Germany.
“I choose —–IRELAND:
Dotster, would you please pass on a message to Mr Dotser for me? Tell him he chose of woman of exquisite taste
Oh he knows I have exquisite taste. He crabs about my exquisite taste.
He doesn’t crab about my exquisite taste in choosing him or in choosing Ireland though.
Well, I”ve had a hell of a busy day. Lost my voice for an hour from an over-exuberant Storytime. Busy on the desk. Getting appointments lined up for my days off. But I had to tweet this:
Is Chambers making money off these websites? Trying to figure out why he’s still trying to scam people.
Moneygall beats them all. Followed so closely i felt like I was there. Meeting the Queen was next favorite. Loved seeing Michelle looking more regal than the Royals.
That is true – Michelle was regal indeed — on all of these trips.
I don’t know what is my favorite, it just has been so nice seeing our President and First Lady storm across the world representing us in such a wonderful way.
By the way what time will POTUS arrive back in the U.S.A.? I’m off to watch alittle college basketball again tonight. See you later.
desertflower posted an important, easy to read article in the previous thread and hope all of you read it.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/pascalemmanuelgobry/2012/10/19/no-the-united-states-will-not-go-into-a-debt-crisis-not-now-not-ever/
Maybe all those Republicans should get a copy:) Just sayin’….
EIther they’re totally ignorant, or they are pedaling their BS once again. Fear is all they ever have. I’m guessing #2.
These are so beautiful they bring tears to my eyes. Couldn’t believe there were some I had never seen. Our President is so full of life and humor, you see how he glows in a group and all eyes are on him. And Michelle, too. I am so thankful to have this man as our President and that he has such a warm and wonderful spouse to give him support.
Awsomeeeeeeeeeeee ………..Awsomeeeeeeeeeeee……Awsomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Awsome MsChipssssssss……simply Magnificent
My favorites: Ireland, Parliament, and Australia.
Well, I hadn’t been able to check in here since early last night, so today I’m catching up and on the very-late-last-night post and what do I see? ? “You people’!!! “YOU PEOPLE”!!!! Chips, have you been hanging around with Queen Ann behind our backs????
Also, this year’s shirt is waaaaaay better than last year’s shirt.
Chips! Chips….thank you for starting off with Canada. It was a proud day for us with the first ever Black Governor-General and the first ever AA President. I doubt that will ever happen in my lifetime again.
My faves, Canada, Ireland and England.
Hi AlmaB, how are you? I didn’t choose Canada because I didn’t take the Chips-Obama Travel Tour for that one. In fact I just watched on regular TV news which did not in any way compare to the perks you get when you book with C-O T T!
Hiya VC…I am good. Catching up. I have had great value by booking with C-OTT. Best seats and best service ever, not to mention the great travel companions.
I know, eh!
It’s all those qualities that have made me a repeat customer, and of course let’s not forget the humour. Once I traveled with C-OTT’s head tour guide, the other touring companies didn’t stand a chance of luring me away!
Chips, thank you so much for the excellent reporting on PBO’s trip. These last couple of days I could only lurk because the monitor on my computer at home died. It hell not being able to comment but just read, although there were so many interesting comments and reports. Thanks, again, Chips.
And, hello everyone!!
Hi, africa!!!
Hi DF
Happy Thanksgiving. Hope all is well.
You too, love:) Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. To ALL the TODer’s and lurkers alike…Happy Thanksgiving:)
I love seeing photos of the president abroad. I especially loved the one of him and Governor General Michaelle Jean in Ottawa. Being Canadian, I am a little bias.
The picture in Ghana had an impact on me. The look on their faces, including Michell’s dear Mother, tells the story. It’s hard to even know how to comment–but there it is–.
Ireland is #1 of course!
India
Australia
England is the tops what with their pageantry and real warm welcome & respect. Then Moneygall & India.
And a lovely collection, Chips.
The Song Candy…..an old tune was once played on The Cosby Show. These pictures, I have looked at them at least 10 times already. Then that song, Candy kept popping into my head. Wow. These pictures are just pure Candy.
I just went back to listen to PBO singing Al Green. I was tickled, I giggled and shivered. I am so wrong.
Romney is now at 47% – KARMA!!!!!!
Pres. Obama 64,161,865 50.77%
Mitt Romney 60,083,873 47.54%
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AjYj9mXElO_QdHpla01oWE1jOFZRbnhJZkZpVFNKeVE&f=true&noheader=true&gid=19
He is so deserving. I bet in is walking around crying in his milk.
Best pic today outside of TOD?…Romney pumping his own gas and looking lost.
He is lost!
KARMA, Big Time Martz. Mitten will never be a happy person, even with all of his reported money. This is a “core and compass” thing with this man. Sad.HZ
It’s quite shocking that 60 million people thought he could/should be President. It’s really quite terrible.
WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA TO HIGHLIGHT ALL!!
There are times you get the bestest ideas, Chips, my gurl! Who would have thunk?
Top three for me = Brazil (the first one, I really packed my bags and followed along at every stop); Ireland (who can forget that!); Africa [Yes that was FLOTUS and the girls, but they are 'president abroad' too in my estimation. I'm sure his heart was there with them.
]
It is hard to say,,,,,which trip ranks the highest on my list….but i will say my most memorable was the when Flotus attended the dinner with the Queen and she word that white ball gown…she was absolutely stunning….Ms Chips do you have that pic…

Hey Anniebella!! I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!
Can you believe it? It’s been two weeks since we re-elected the best president this country has EVER HAD!!
WOOOOOO HOOOOO
omg Chips this is so spectacular- thank you very very much
Ireland, Australia and Burma. And if I could choose more than three I would add Egypt, Indonesia and South America (which I realize is not a country). And Germany during the 2008 campaign, which I realize was not a presidential trip.
Joe, putting Ireland first in that list confirms what I always suspected: you are a seriously smart man!
That czech republic april 8 2010 pic of HRC and PBO is wonderful.
Of course, FLOTUS looks
lovelyhawt, hawt, hawt in all the pics.Thank you Chipsticks. This trip down memory lane was with you and TOD and all of the pictures hold special meaning for me, however….here are my Top Four: The Vatican, S.Korea(11/09), IRELAND(5/11) and France(11/11).
Thank you my beloved Blog Leader and I look forward to the next 4 years with you!
This is simply beautiful. Excellent post.
This is simply stunning work, Chip. Stunning. #faint
BWD, the fella makes it easy!!!
Now that he seems to have visited all continents, he should make a trip to alaassskaa. I bet it would turn blue in 2014.
Amk…..But the president has been to AK, twice now……and as president.
Really ? Never knew that. hmm…
I didn’t know that either. I remember in the primaries he said it was the only state he hadn’t visited. When did he go there?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhfwNYGcNYk Nov 12, 2009
Yes, the First visit was on Nov 12, 2009. Then last year, on his way to Japan or South Korea, the president was in AK too. Both times, he spoke to the troops.
Thx Nena. Somehow missed those.
He looks disheveled and a little crazy – SHEESH!
Well, to be fair, I often look disheveled when I pump gas. And at other times too…seriously I am not always the elegant soignee figure you see before you.
Why this is being talked about though is because he held himself as above the common person with car elevators and offshore money and 7 homes, etc etc. So here Mr. Smarmy is; pumping gas and looking like he just got his ass kicked by a man named Barack Obama.
Well, there is that
It is so good to know that no matter how much money Mitt has and how much money he will continue to make, he will always feel like a loser. Ditto for Mcain.
First Lots of pictures. And now Video and audio tapes.
Wow……I am in Heaven……..Dancing Check to cheek.
At the top of the hill in Brazil with a Large Jesus Christ’s statue. It is just a wonderful peaceful picture.
I was there 21 yrs ago during Carnival. One of my best trips.
Ireland is my #1.. because it was like going home for all of us I think.. POTUS & FLOTUS were family to Moneygall & it was all so perfect. I loved all the countries, the people, the love, the respect- theirs for him and he for all of them.. his speeches in Egypt, Burma, England, Ireland, the townhall he gave… it has all been so wonderful. He is a true world leader.
Especially the peoples. No other world leader, afaik, got that kinda reception everywhere he went. He is a phenom.
he is amk.. I think because he so clearly embraces all the people of the world they reciprocate full hearted.. it has been such a pleasure to watch it all unfold.
“I think because he so clearly embraces all the people of the world they reciprocate full hearted” … perfect, Sheri, just perfect!
I’m blushing now Bob, thank you for that ~
You are absolutely right AMK!
photo/1
If you look closely there’s a little plastic crucifix in the corner…..
Looking….looking…
Could not see this crucifix, Dave, looked and looked.
LOL. I saw an interview of some racist nutbags attending the bot’s ‘rally’ and some weirdo was claiming that he was enabling buddhists to take over murka.
Close to 50% of murka really, really ugly.
Great one, Marylynne!! Chips – you gotta see this one!!!!
You have some dam idiots out there who will believe that mary foster.
The Fox, Limbaugh crowd.
True. Haters will always find a reason to hate.
Ireland, Ireland, Ireland………..I Loved How The People of Ireland, Embraced Him like a Like a Son coming Home!
Has to be Australia – and he’ll be in my town in 2014 – praise to everyone it is PBO and not he who has returned to the car elevator
Ha!
Chips, I would very much like to include Ireland in my top three, just as I would want to include Italy (for many, many reasons), but, the President addressing the British Parliament, his journeys into Afghanistan & his presence in Burma prevail. Hope we’re still friends
We’re done Bob, nice knowing ya.
Na, still love ya!
My heart would have been broken, for sure … thank you
Why so few pictures this time?? ;>)
So much HOPE!!! now beginning to shape actions that will be of inestimable value to so many ….
oh and that purple dress on Michelle… somehow I missed that one- what a gorgeous woman she is.
M
Late, but my three: Ireland, Australia, India
The trip to China where the president had a Q&A with the Chinese University students.
The Brazilian Trip.
The Picture with a 4-5 yrs old Irish red haired child.
The GQ Pic of the POTUS with broad smile walking in the rain……In FRANCE……..Wow….that picture is a knock out.
Oh, I selected two from my head…..not displayed here today, but by memory…..Chips had posted them here at TOD.
I was on the bus when I saw that pic again tonight. Had to control myself. Lawd Have Mercy!
Hey Everyone — just received this DM
“Let’s do this….. Twitterbomb at 9:00 est #ApologizeMcCain”
GO FOR IT TOD TWEEPS!!!!
So my spidey senses failed me I think, PBO flew east instead of west when leaving Cambodia which would have been perfect to sneak into Afghanistan to be w/ the troops for Thanksgiving under cover of night but something spooked the SS and instead PBO landed in Japan to refuel. Cant go to Ramstien in Germany and refuel in Alaska now obviously either like they did on the way to Thailand. Official word is they flew east because of a ” Tailwind ” which would make their flight faster. Im pretty convinced something leaked and they squashed the Afghan stop thus landing in Japan instead. PBO should be home around midnight EST now and will be pardoning the Turkeys around 2 then doing some community service probally a soup kitchen. Was hoping the troops would get a visit from COC Obama especially after Patraeus and Allen for morale purposes. Oh well Happy Thanksgiving TOD!
Tried to follow you on Twitter, but you have me blocked …..
Oh well!
oops! the way my twitter is set up is I use tweetdeck and I create different lists like international/sports/D.C. reporters/DNC/Obamans/local news/ etc.. and by doing that all the people I follow are not in one single timeline b/c I get all your tweets! Is there a way to invite you to follow me? or I can unblock you follow then I cant fix my tweetdeck afterwards I have a great twitter feed!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m with you. I was almost sure he would stop in Afghanistan for Thanksgiving.
It could also just be that with the Gaza crisis, and having sent Hillary there in an emergency, it might have seemed awkward for him to go to Afghanistan instead of having gone to Israel himself. I don’t know – I think they may even go there after Thanksgiving, since there’s no scheduled events.
Pic # 31 (the one from Chile): does anyone know the story there? Who is that adorable little girl looking like she is about to curtsy?
Mightily impressed by the number of people choosing Ireland – either (a) you have majestic taste, or (b) your fear of the Newt mankini is overwhelming. Either is good
Nah. Really and truly it was THE best.
An old man was wondering if his wife had a hearing problem. So one night, he stood behind her while she was sitting in her lounge chair.
He spoke softly to her, “Honey, can you hear me?” There was no response.
He moved a little closer and said again, “Honey, can you hear me?” Still, there was no response.
Finally he moved right behind her and said, “Honey, can you hear me?”
She replied, “For the third time, Yes!”
A man approached a very beautiful woman in the large supermarket and said, “I’ve lost my wife here in the supermarket. Can you talk to me for a couple of minutes?”
The woman looked puzzled. “Why do you want to talk to me?” she asked.
“Because every time I talk to a beautiful woman like you, my wife appears out of nowhere”
That’s funny!
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
with that, gunnite folks.
You better head for the blankets after that one, amk!!! Only so much cover a brother can provide you and ‘in-coming’ is likely to be fast and furious after that one
Rest well friend!
May you have a sleepless night, pinepapple bottom.
“pinepapple bottom” OUCH!!!
Putting on my brass knuckles…
What trip was it when FLOTUS and POTUS spent the night at Buckingham Palace? Can you just imagine them being there? And FLOTUS speaking to the young girls in England.
It was the same trip as the Ireland trip, and when he addressed the British Parliament.
Ireland tops my list. You made it so real and present for us that I felt like I was actually there. It was a brilliant moment in time. His trips to Afghanistan come next.
Absolutely awesome pics. It’s so hard to pick because each country he visited had it’s own unique flavor. My top favorites: Ghana, Ireland and Australia. India, Brazil, and UK were also right there in the mix of top favorites. Basically, I loved every country and the warm receptions that each gave to our President.
Thank you so much, Chips, for making it possible for us to know and appreciate how much people in other countries love and respect President Obama.
“Thank you so much, Chips, for making it possible for us to know and appreciate how much people in other countries love and respect President Obama.”
Will be forever grateful to Chips, nath, for just this!!! Well stated, as always, friend.
Yes We Can
Thank you Bob! Great thanks for your relentless tweets to make sure that McCain is held accountable.
This Thanksgiving…
I am Thankful for all the wonderful people on TOD.
Thankful, for this blog after days of volunteering and came home beat and tired, you kept me sane to do more. Thankful for all the great work you all contributed in electing the Best President ever.
I am thankful for the laughs and tears of joy shared by many.
I am most thankful to Chips for not giving up and keeping this oasis open, your work is truly a labor of love Dear One.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Love you All!
Thankful for you, Kasai – love ya.
I’m thankful for all the same things you are, kasai, and am thankful for the opportunity to join with you in supporting our President.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Aw…love you, too kasai:) We have much to be thankful for…put me down for what you said!
Kasai, I share with you all the things you are thankful for. I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Big up to T & T!
Thanks for these pictures Chips! Thanks for including Trinidad and Tobago in the line up. We’re small, but his visit created huge excitement.
Our then Foreign Minister, Paula Gopee Scoon, caused a mini scandal by daring to “break protocol” to spontaneously hug PBO. They said she had no decorum, etc, etc. Poor lady couldn’t help it. (See Julia Gillard)
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Barack_Obama_%26_Paula_Gopee-Scoon_at_Piarco_International_Airport_4-19-09.JPG
But his trips in terms of sheer deliriousness: Moneygall. Hands down.
Lucky Trinidad! Wonder if he ever visited Jamaica.
Must google to see if there are many pictures of his visit to Trinidad. And good for Ms. Scoon. I would have done the same thing. Michelle would have had to peel me off of him.
If he ended up in Trinidad then a trip to Jamaica is quite likely, as a prominent Caribbean country.
As for Ms. Scoon…this is the natural reaction when people meet him, isn’t it. Few can hold it together, dignitary or not. I mean look what happened when he innocently wore a batik shirt.
Hey Chica!!! What a SPLENDIFEROUS photo essay!! WOW, just wow… One teensy, weensy, itsby, bitsy correction.. The date on the very first photo (Pres Obama with the fabulous Governor General Michaelle Jean in Canada) can’t be 2011. It’s got to be 2009, yes?
Huh, Isonprize, as if I’d make a stuuuuupid mistake like that ….. running away to fix it ….. fixed it ….. thank you Isonprize!!!!
She’s stunning!
Do anyone think that mean old fool is going to apologize?
Doesn’t matter. What matters is that people all over the world are aware of his travesties and demanding he apologize.
#FORWARD
“What matters is that people all over the world are aware of his travesties and demanding he apologize.”
Exactly, Bob! McCain can no longer hide behind the fawning MSM that treats him as if he is the one who won the presidency, with an electoral landslide, in 2008.
Yep. That’s the POWER of each of us ‘being the media’ and we have the tools, with international reach, to do just that, nath!
Yes We Can
England and Ireland = tie. India and Burma etc.
For me:
1. Ireland (this was such a joy)
2. England (Parliament speech)
3. Germany (before the election in 2008 speaking to over 2000 people)
Ah Marlz, I always knew you were the finest of judges
WOW! You’ve outdone yourself with this post, Chips! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I think Moneygall was awesome — we followed that like WE were the Obamas, lol. I also loved the trip to Australia — especially when he greeted a small group of Aborigines and a sweet elder lady cried when she met PBO. The Nobel Peace Prize trip was spectacular — there were some pictures from that event where PBO and Michelle looked like a prince and princess (for example when they were waving from their hotel balcony), it was really magical. The Ghana and Brazil pics were especially touching for so many reasons.
What a wonderful, exciting statesman we have as a President. I am glad to be a witness.
Well said PoliticalJunkessa. Well said.
I cannot keep up with this site! Has the pic of the miserable, disheveled willard m. romney shown up here yet? I KNOW we’re not gonna gloat excessively or interminably AND there’s good reason to just act as if the lying asshole never existed BUT it’s a GREAT pic!!! Have you all…..mmmm….. viewed and commented already????
Yup. I have a tweet above on it. He looks dazed and confused but may be just trying to remember to pick up some Grecian Formula at Walgreens on the way home.
Oh, thanks forus50. I WISH I could….but no I skim and I have to flit in and out. But I just LOVE THIS COMMUNITY. A meet up at the inaguation would be so cool!
It was tweeted around. Horrific photo of him. Nightmarish!
Ms Chips, I’m stunned by this post. Epic. So wonderful. Thank you !
As for my choices…
- Ireland, for obvious reasons. In the same trip, the speech at Westminster: the speech in itself, but also the introduction speech, which was very moving, full of admiration and respect. Oh, and I remember how excited those elected officials were to meet him; every one wanted to shake his hand lol…
- India. It was an emotional trip. The President had the occasion to pay tribute to one of this heroes, Ghandi. Also loved the first couple’s visit with school children in poor neighborhoods, and the President’s town hall with the university students. I absolutely LOVE those kinds of town-halls because they display the depth of knowledge and wisdom of President Obama, and his empathy and respect for everyone , and his confidence in the young generation. He doesn’t do those town-halls anymore. I wonder why,,,
- Egypt: the Cairo speech. It was just… wow.
- Brazil, especially when President Obama went into some poor neighborhoods and played with those young boys .
- Ghana: a very moving trip for him and his family.
-Afghanistan, all trips. It always moves me when he goes there to thank the troops and tell them how he cares.
Ireland .. yes; because I have been there and felt the hospitality of the people, so then the crowds, the love, the respect shown to our President when he was there. They seriously wanted to make him theirs. And then of course, Cousin Henry. After that, as someone who shall not be named would say “any of them, all of them,” but then this latest the Burma trip : over the top, for the historical significance of this trip alone, and the reception he and Hillary received. Just unbelievable. I am so proud to be an American with Barack Obama as my President and Ms. Hillary Clinton as my Secretary of State.
Is PBO home yet
I want to know too .. please let me know when he is home. We love his presence abroad, but we want him here the most.
Not yet PF, due home in about three hours (12:45 AM ET)
Thanks….setting my alarm….
OH! I should have said in my prior post it’s a pic of willard PUMPING GAS. Apparently it’s gone VIRAL?
I cannot keep up with this site! Has the pic of the miserable, disheveled willard m. romney shown up here yet? I KNOW we’re not gonna gloat excessively or interminably AND there’s good reason to just act as if the lying asshole never existed BUT it’s a GREAT pic!!! My choice is Brazil. We were just there in May & it is a beautiful country with beautiful people…the exuberance and love of life is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. We visited two communities (they don’t like the word favela) Santa Marta and Santa Teresa. I told this story before, but after we visited the Corcovado and we were walking to our bus, a gentleman realized that we were a group of African Ameoricans and he started shouting “OBAMA! OBAMA! FAMILY! OBAMA! FAMILY! Well needless to say we were stunned, but shouted back to him. Most of us were in tears! It’s was such a wonderful highlight of our trip. I’m choked up just remembering.
I am so proud when our President goes to other countries now. He is making friends all over the world, and raising respect for our country again. When GWB used to visit other countries, I was sick to my stomach the entire time he was out of the country, and he never failed to embarrass us. A true sad experience for our country.
I truly loved the England trip because of the Parliament speech. That was a true masterpiece, and was adjudged so by the British and world press. Our press almost ignored it, but the impact on the world was great. I honestly think our MSM does not listen to a thing he actually says. His Parliament speech will be studied for years and will become part of the canon of well known speeches. He totally reset American foreign policy in that speech, and therefore world policy.
Australia (PBO arrived 2 days after I left!). Canada ( my second citizenship). Ireland ( my great grand daddy left there in 1850).
But, Chips! It’s in my blood, for pete’s sake, or patrick’s sake! Besides, then I went back twice, twice! , looked over each and every photo, then, to my demise, hit play on that Aussi Aussi Aussi video, and thanks to YOU, I am a basket case! So, now what do I do? Eh?
Huh, excuses.

Chips, I love you! This is the best one yet!!!! I love reliving the last four years the President went abroad, First Lady Michelle has chemistry with everybody. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in the next 4 years. I must confess one of the reasons I wanted President Obama to win a 2nd term is because of this site, seriously. You do such good work, dear. God Bless you!!!!!
Wow! Thank you for all the beautiful pictures. You are amazing. I took quite some time looking at them all. What a treat. Don’t know what I would do without Chips and my TOD family.
Amen … amen. I second that if I may proud .. thank you Chips. Thank you so very much. And now, please let us know when our beloved President returns safely home!
Bill O the Clown is still a wee bit Mad!
Bill O’Reilly is a racists dam idiot. Who can’t deal with the fact that a black man is President. All my life I have had to deal with white man as President.
And I think I handle it pretty well, why can’t these dam fools deal with it.
What an excellent round up this is. My favorite trips are Moneygall, the UK (for his address to Parliament), Australia and Egypt, for the New Beginning speech in Cairo.
I am proposing a draft petition for We the People:
“Having watched the current President of the United States on the world stage since his momentous speech in Berlin and having seen a gallery at The Obama Diary of the President and the First Lady as they exude dignity and grace and good-lookingness, peacefully grant the people of the United States of America permanent status to the President and First Lady as official First Couple of the U.S. to be ambassadors representing the U.S. regardless of whomever becomes President in the future.”
i’ll sign that!
Hi Chips! I don’t post often, but I read the site EVERYDAY and everyday it makes my day…thanks for all that you do..hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
My favorite trips 1. Ireland 2. Ireland 3. Ireland
“My favorite trips 1. Ireland 2. Ireland 3. Ireland
”
That’s what I’m talkin’ about! SueBee? I tip my hat!
SueBee lives in terror of the mankini
As do we all!
Chips,
you almost brought tears to my eyes with this post. I realized that so many of these trips I got to see because of YOU!
YOU were the keeper for many of us, especially when the MSM decided that they wouldn’t cover the President’s foreign trips.
THANK YOU SO MUCH CHIPS FOR THIS SITE.
This may have been commented on already, but I really did appreciate Rachel’s report on PBO in Burma. So far, this is the most detailed report which I have seen.
You are right. That report was excellent!
♥ you Rikyrah
Thank you.
Rkyrah, I totally consign your statement and join you in thanking Chips for this site. For example: not very many people in America, who are not members of TOD, got to see the warm and wonderful reception that the people of Ireland — including the government — gave to President Obama and the First Lady. The same was true of all the President’s other foreign trips.
My all time favorite country to which the President and First Lady have traveled: America
Perfection
Good one Tien Le, and thanks to the America voters we have 4 More Years
It has been a pleasure watching the Obama family, as a black American, seeing the first African American family in the White House. I have felt such pride, because I never expected it to happen. Finally when you look up the leader of the free world, the First Lady their kids, they are like you. When I talk to some elderly person who have really seen alot in this country and I listen as they speak of what it is like for them to live to see our first black President, first black family. I mean wow.
Just wow, wow for you anniebella, but for us too (I am white) to have this person in the WH, this very special person as our President.
I’m glad you feel that way daisydem.
Wait… What??? Do my eyes deceive me?
Mark Knoller has something somewhat remotely positive to say about Pres. Obama???
Seriously, has his twitter feed been hacked? SERIOUSLY. It must have been hacked.
Well as I’m preparing my sweet potato pies (I’ll take one to work tomorrow) i’m watching Red, White & Blues In Performance at the White House and rocking out! Loved when the Prez sang a few bars of “Sweet Home Chicago.”
Chat away

Chips:
Ireland. And everything else!
Top of the class Jacqueline, but forget the everything else
Chips – Wasn’t Ireland the first time we “knew” that the whole world loved him? I may be mistaken about that, but I cried when I saw him receive that welcome during that visit. (I’m one-quarter Irish, the part I identify with, but I always joke I can never go there because once my mug is on the shelf in the pub with my name on it, I ain’t leavin’.)
I can’t decide which Presidential foreign trip is my favorite because they’re all been so amazing. It’s like trying to pick a favorite child, but if I was forced to choose, Ireland would be my favorite daughter.
But there is one trip that started it all. Senator Obama’s trip to Kenya. According to what I’ve read, it was this trip that sparked Barack Obama’s interest in making a run for POTUS sooner than later. Once he saw the reception he got in Kenya, he knew he had something special to offer.
For those who haven’t seen it, there was an amazing film made about this trip called “Senator Obama Goes to Africa”. I saw this on Netflix back in ’07 and it’s still one of my favorite documentaries.
This was absolutely amazing. Thank you, itgurl_29 for sharing this.
I am catching up with all the wonderful posts that Ms. chips has provided for us and this truly was worth staying up late to watch. What a humble man PBO and a gracious kind woman Michele . My prayer is that they grow old together and live to see their grandchildren and great grandchildren. So they care share of this rich history they both posess and the life journeys they have traveled. They truly were meant to be with each other and we are blessed to be a part.
I am so grateful to be alive knowing that suc humble, caring and loving human beings once again will reside in the “People’s House” another four years.
Looking forward to POTUS pardoning the turkey tomorrow, who I have name Mitt McCain Lindsey Romney.
Ireland is my favorite because of the friendliness of the people and their willingness to embrace PBO as one of their own. I have loved the devotion that Cousin Henry Healey has shown to the president. He came for St. Patrick’s Day and seemed to have had a ball, and he was pulling for PBO on election night. Ireland is also special to me because it reminds me that although many in the U.S.don’t accept/respect our president, the people of Ireland have opened their arms wide to embrace him. Any nation of people who can do this live in one heck of a great place.
Thanks Chipsticks. Beautiful pictures. My favorites: Ireland, Brazil and India.
This-↑
Chips, my favorite is Ireland, Africa and Brazil.
Thank you for the memories.
