Cast your vote at Time
People of the Year? As LDS suggested: The Voters.
My fave Time cover:
Thank you….I was dropping by for help because I am seriously addicted to this place and I was going to chill out for a while and….BAM!
You guys are just too damn hard to leave alone.
Thank you. And I forgot to thank you for that wonderful choir around Thanksgiving while I was cooking. It kept me cool.
You’re very welcome.
Chips, that is a very striking pose…..Man of the Planet Earth is more like it! 007 and then some……
You really know how to make a Monday night right.
Good to hear your Monday night is right, LDS!!!
My choice, though would be all of the People who voted for this wonderfulman. Those who stood in long lines and voted for the first time. Especially those who were bold enough to vote not for a crazy party that has gone too far right, listened to their conscious and heart. So if it was up to me, “We The People”. We refused to let this momentum die and embraced change
That would be a great choice LDS, ‘We the People’, and a beautiful message to the GOP – well, they got their message on Nov 6, but this would round the year off nicely.
Yes, Chips. They need a transformation of the mind and heart. Our President is slowly schooling them….step by step…inch by inch.
Let us be patient. It is not going to happen overnight. It is a process, a slow process. We have to watch, wait , be still some time, stfu most of the time, have our President’s back all of the time. These next four years are going to be extraordinary in so many ways.
Thank you, Chips for everything.
“These next four years are going to be extraordinary in so many ways.”
I think so too LDS, the last four were special enough, but I’m excited about the days ahead. Thanks LDS.
I vote for “Persons of the Year” President Obama, OFA and campaign staff for running the greatest campaign in American hisotry and ALL the people that stood in line defying the GOP’s determination to take their right to vote away from them.
I totally love this idea, LDS. They are the real heroes of November 6. It still gives me chills to think of what people endured on election day to exercise their right to vote. It was one of the great acts of both affirmation and defiance that I’ve seen in many years.
Jackiegrimbacher, thank you so much. I feel the same way about the chills that I had all day. The weather was so different. Very cool in the early morning, cold…..then unseasonably warm around 9:00 when the polls were closing. Absolutely perfect in so many ways just like four years ago. And then the next day a snowstorm!
How can you explain this? A serious storm and then a snowstorm, but we were able to vote despite all of the mood swings of the weather. Just too much to take in……see you at the Mall? Even at one of the 10 Balls…..(anything is possible if you believe)……I am believing!
Wonderful idea LDS. The voters this year really came out and made their voices heard. They’d be a great choice for TIME’s Person of The Year.
Utaustinliberal, thank you. I am so proud of us! All of us…..red, white, black, brown, yellow, gay, straight, sick, well. We did it!
Today while watching the weather channel they showed a picture of the White House and the pride that I felt was too much. You see I cry often these days because I lived to see what I pictured what heaven will be. I realized that we can experience that here on earth if we would just embrace the truth, learn to love each and accept who we are as individuals. Care for one another regardless of what you look like. Where you come from. We were ALL in this together.
Believe it or not, I sometimes thank Mr. 47% for being such a blind fool. His foolishness forced some of us to do the impossible in order to see the big picture as our visionary president does and he is blessed to be a blessing for us all as he humbly and graciously said thank you holding back the tears. I will never forget the gratitude of a gracious man. It is so nice to be nice. He did not gloat or brag.
He was just simply……..grateful.
Congrats on 1st LDS and you certainly earned a winner of a photo!!!!
Thank you, Mr. Bobfr. Because of you, I vow to tweet before the year is over! I owe it all to you. Thank you!
Here’s looking as you, kid. You are the best, tweeter person. We still have work to do. Look for me soon at a tweeter station near you.
Looking forward to seeing you in the twitterverse, LDS!!! And, thank you for that lovely compliment
Let me know when your account is active and I’ll follow, asap!
Here I go crying again……what is with this? I wake up smiling. Go to bed smiling. Crying whenever I see the White House knowing the righteous family still resides there. I cry when I see pictures of Bo. You are a true warrior, Mr. Bobfr. I tweet what you tweet because “No One Does It Better.”
Whoa! I got a photo for number two? Thanks Chips! Honestly, I am so used to not being in the top ten that when I clicked on to lurk I was leisurely checking out my president when I realized there were no comments. Got so excited that I forgot to click comment after typing yes, etc, etc. Anyway–Thanks so much!!
Cool! I was wondering whether or not our guy would be selectED.
Okay, is that all the joint first people?
Thanks so much, Chips.
You’re welcome (joint) winner!
Okay Chips, are you trying to tell us your French lessons are going well? That’s two in-a-row en francais. Are we to expect a post entirely in French next? Soon? I still have my French dictionary handy, so go for it! It might take me all day to read it, but it would be a good refresher course for me.
This one is a favourite pic for me. I can’t even pinpoint why – just something in his eyes. Mmm.
Oops! I was rushing so much to be first after I saw the email for a new thread, that I did not look at all of the cover. I thought that this was Time’s person of the year cover. Well, PBO should be selected for the incredible things that has done as well as for winning the election in such a decisive manner.
Well…I was on the same wave length as you LDS!
Jump right in, Diane! Embrace the wave, the water is fine.
A three way tie according to the time stamp.
He would be my choice!
Hello Hello anyone there
Well hello there everybody. Congrats LDS well done.
Thank you so much. I share this #1 spot with ALL of you here.
Well, yes. Definitely! Of course. Absolutely!
I get so upset when I read tweets that tell @BarackObama to do this and that NOW. When will u ever learn that he is way smarter than y'all.— jenny (@Me4obama) November 26, 2012
And, well no surprise who gets my vote …
Time Person of the Year should be the 1st Democrat to win > 50% of the Vote, TWICE, Since #FDR -> President @BarackObama cc @TIME TY!— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 26, 2012
Do hope all of you will read Deaniac’s latest essay; many here (including lurkers) are aware of how much scorn was slung at him and others for our realizing that President Obama not only has a clue, but is always motivated, first and foremost, by what he can do to improve the quality of Life for All Americans ….

This is so true!
To all of you offering .@BarackObama "advice"? He's been elected POTUS twice. As a black man. Have you?— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) November 26, 2012
Well damn I’m a white woman so I don’t know how I could. Kidding!
LOLOL. But you get the point. All of these folks offering “kind advice” don’t have a tenth of the achievements he does. So really, they should take a good helping of STFU.
Totally. I think that would be the hardest part to his job is listening to unsolicited advice from the whine and cheese club.
LL, if I might agree with you. Thank you for saying what I have been feeling. How many of those “kind advice” would have made that call in the Situation Room? Just what I thought ……nary a one. Take all of that advice and run for president in 2016… I am so tired of them all.
” Take all of that advice and run for president in 2016… I am so tired of them all.”
Exactly my sentiments, LDS! I am so sick tired of armchair pundit presidents who think that they know how to deal with the problems more than the man who has been elected twice as President. I appreciate people who write the President to highlight their concerns and issues and offer advices. What I detest are the know-it-alls, who always say: “Obama should, must, ought to, do such and such a thing.”
Especially Michael Moore, who wrote a fairly offensive letter to the President the day after the election. I told him I’ll read it when his name appears on a ballot.
/\ /\ /\ THAT /\ /\ /\
ha ha ha – my comment is so far away from the thing I was commenting on oops. I’m agreeing with that tweet wayyyy up yonder by Jenny
EGADS. Susan Rice has a requested a meeting with Grumpy McCain and he’s agreed. To take place on Tuesday. I’m not so sure this will work out.
Wise of her to have taken the initiative to do so since it’s likely we’ll be hearing of her nomination as the next SOS sometime soon
Wow. I’ll bow to her good judgment …. but why give this bitter creep any of her time?
That’s how I’m feeling. He’s got to be the mother of all squeaky wheels. But I hate that he gets this kind of attention. And I doubt that he’ll have anything good to say about her after the meeting. I hope I’m wrong but it’s not in his DNA to be gracious.
“It’s not in his DNA to be gracious”
Oh, so, SO true. I’m with you Meta, I really hate to see him being afforded this kind of respect, he long since lost the right to it.
Letting him save face plus he needs to apologize to her face to face….nothing less than that.
This meeting is not for McWacky…this meeting for Ambassador Rice…she is showing the McWackys of the world how leaders are suppose to act…she is showing the world that she is the bigger person…I say, “you go Ambassador Rice, you go…show them how it’s done, since it is obvious they done know how”!!!
If she can’t show diplomacy toward that old coot, then how can she be SOS? She’s twice the human being he is.
Oh, I know she is, he’s not even close to her class, it just kind of kills me to see him being granted this meeting, and Susan Rice even having to spend time in his company. He doesn’t deserve that respect.
It’s the Barack Obama Long Game. Who knows what chess game he’s got set up as part of this. It probably is something that will result in McCain retiring and Gabby’s husband getting his Senate seat.
Ooooooooh, I like that chess game!!!!
I think Amb. Rice will handle this just fine. He won’t know what hit him. Happens all the time in the “real world,” and if you recall the steely look in her eyes when she said originally that she’d talk with him … oh, yeah, baby … I think she’s got this!
Correct Jacquelineoboomer and Bobfr. This is not a stop bye and greet you Senator. This is a long game plan by POTUS and Dr. Rice. Old Grampy does not know that Dr. Susan Rice is a long game hard hitting player on the team. This one is from the Chess Master himself. Game on. Watch out old grumpy men, you just picked on another one of the team players who will take your behinds to the cleaners.
Trust me on this one, Dr. Susan Rice is no light-weight in this game. Behinds on fire tomorrow. POB knows exactly what he is doing. Enjoy your glass of red/white tonight because game is on now. I will leave it at that. Speak your words with power in them and let them go forth in the universe and take on that power. HZ
should read: stop/bye. Yes, some may have heard of the older people during our childhood say, ” Well, that will not be a stop/ bye visit. etc. This will be a moment of “Let me make this perfectly clear to you this time and this time only. Now have a nice day.”HZ
Love it. And we have our marching orders (something about wine, while we’re waiting? Ha!).
Hell yeah she got this!!!!
“…. but why give this bitter creep any of her time?”
Chips, sadly, that’s how politics is played. Unfortunately the “bitter creep” still has enormous power, under antiquated Senate rules, to throw a stinker if she is nominated for SoS. On top of that, the “bitter creep” is still the darling of the corporate media.
“The “bitter creep” is still the darling of the corporate media.”
Not so sure about that any more nathkatun7, I noticed some less than glowing reactions to his attacks on Susan Rice, I’ve a feeling even those who bowed at his feet realize he went over the bitter edge on this one.
I know what you mean, these things have to be done sometimes …. but it still kills me SR is meeting this guy!
I totally understand! I wish she didn’t dignify him with a meeting. I also stand corrected about the media because of late I’ve not been tuned into the MSM. I am glad that the “bitter Creep” is no longer the darling of the media. Still those stupid Senate rules that require unanimous consent to get things done give McCain enormous power. If the meeting can neutralize him it would be worthy it.
It’s called silent castration.
They’re trying to save McCain face after he so humiliated himself, so that he can say he got what he needed, and then won’t stand in the way of any nominations. They’re giving him a graceful way out of the corner he’s got himself into. He needs to retire.
So agree. It’s a well-laid plan. A honey of a plan, in fact. I would not be so generous, but Obama is.
She is a kick-ass woman who knows how to handle her business. Mclame, the would be bully, should be afraid. She will not be playing.
I have absolutely no doubt she can take him on. I just don’t think he has the humility to give up his grudge.
True, but he will be left alone to stew in his misery. He will have neither influence nor power.
I met someone who personally interacted with her and from what I gathered, she will chew him up and spit him out just by looking at him.
Before going in that meeting, he had better borrow a pair of Mitt’s magic under ware to play it safe. She will make rice pudding out of him.
I don’t think that’s the plan. Not at all.
“…borrow a pair of Mitt’s magic underwear…” LOL
P.S. I agree 100%
By making the first move, Susan Rice will have him on the ropes. She looks magnanimous, which she is, and he looks smaller and pettier than ever….which he is. She is not afraid of him, and he came after her in a terrible way. It can be called ‘bearding the lionin in his den” except that McCain is a moth-eaten old coot, not a lion.
I totally admire her for this…..he can’t escape now. He is not one to speak to people’s faces….he does the talk show thing behind people’s backs. She does NOT. She shows that she is the bigger person by doing this.
PBO, during the first campaign, called Mclame out “let him say it to my face.” which the old coot never did. As PBO said, he went after Amb. Rice because he thought she was vulnerable (would not take on a man), but he will see that she is not. Sucks to be him.
I agree with your analysis carolyn – she will in essence have him by the “shorthairs” as it were. She’s totally taken the power. I should learn something from this for my personal life…..I probably won’t……
SO much photogenic magic in one place. WOW.
How ‘ bout this? http://womenofcertainage.blogspot.com/2012/11/im-baaaaccckkk.html
Oh, how totally cool… How much we count on this man (and his family). It never ceases to amaze – and concern – me…
Thanks, again, Chips, for your amazing dedication and work!
http://www.partyandsoul.wordpress.com (just have to add that…)
Long time lurker, first time poster here. PBO or the Pakistani girl that was shot by the Taliban for speaking about the right to education would be my choice.
Hi Snowm3n – welcome! Yes, the Pakistani girl, Malala Yousufzai, was tremendously courageous, and continues to be. I wouldn’t be upset if she was chosen as the Person of the Year. The President definitely deserves the cover for what he’s put up with and what he’s accomplished, but I don’t think he’d mind either.
Agree with you, theo!
And, welcome snowm3n!!
It may also be the middle class?
Yes – I also thought about the American voter – who was able to overcome the media delusions and deceptions, and vote overwhelmingly for their best interests.
Thanks for the welcome, theo67!
I find myself thinking the name Chipsticks/TheObamaDiary ought to certainly be well up top on this voting list? Anyone care to join me?
Couldn’t agree more Pamela, the blog should at least have been tied with Sheldon Adelson
excuse me but, i think this blog (and associates) re-elected the president of the united states of america. and i do believe that sheldon adelson had zero success in the same endeavor. that means this blog is way, way waaaaaaay ahead of that creep!
I chuckled when I saw him on the list Susanne, I assume Time was being, well, amusing?
Nonpartisan CBO shows #ObamaCare is not deficit neutral, but saving $109B to $210B over 10 year period. Repealing any of it increases debt.— Bill Talley (@Political_Bill) November 26, 2012
Unfortunately, the idiot Rethugs don’t care about the debt. Look at the two wars that weren’t budgeted for and the tax cuts for the rich, which also were not budgeted for. Cantor is already demanding that Obamacare be put on the table during the fiscal cliff discussions.
It won’t happen Cantor.
Cantor can hold his breath and turn blue and perish ….
Baeack Obama is MY President!
Joe Biden is MY Vice-President!
And FLOTUS is MY First Lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Oh look another magazine I need to add to my collection
We’ve all become kinda like hoarders! Ha!
Jacpue, so true. I have a huge corner of my garage gathering mementoes and pages of info from the ’08 campaign forward inorder to compile a scrapbook which will now need to be more like an scrapopedia set. I have not started it yet either. I figure after PBO is out of office I will keep myself busy reminiscing while putting the scrapbooks together. If I do a good enough job (hee hee) they might want to put them in his library. LOL
Love that! I told my family my collection is to go to my new great grandson!
I had to stop collecting them a couple of years ago Proud, I could hardly get in to my house
I voted on all of them. The only ones close to the President (at 56%) were Mohammad Morsi and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton and Malala Yousafzai and sadly Jon Stewart. FLOTUS should have been on that list – has done a lot more than some of those yahoos. Mitt and his liar sidekick Ryan were less than 25%. Hee hee
What in the world has Jon Stewart done?
I have NO idea. I mean let’s put Honey Boo Boo in there too then.
Sometimes American culture is just so beyond stupid.
I ask that same question, meta.
Honey Boo Boo, Ha, Ha, Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were a lot of odd choices where I was asking, “What?????”
Why is Jon Stewart on that list? What has he done for anybody?
Dr. Susan Rice is doing preventive defense tatic. She is showing up and saying to the Idjits McCain, Lindsey, Ayotte and Collins to have at her. So during the SoS confirmation…….nothing left or any surprises left. That is a brilliant idea. A tip off and of my hat to Amb Rice!
She is knocking off any more hug media attention when McCain and co would love to be over the top……during SoS confirmation…..making a spectacle of himself. Remember the 2009 or so ACA 8 hour “symposium” where McCain tried to one-up pres Obama and pres Obama had to tell him that the election was over? Chips posted it today, come to think of it.
Watched the Soul Train awards last night…It was all about Obama’s love….from Red Carpet Interviews all you could hear..Obama..
Cedric the Entertainer opened with Obama….and Steve Wonder finished with Obama….last picture they showed on a big screen at the end of the show was of President Obama….
I was so thrilled…with joy…If you get to watch the whole video…I am sure Chips will find it somewhere..it was worth watching..not to mention the soulful voices….But Obama Rocked the house!!!
Here’s a finale..Hope it works….
Ah, thank you Kasai! I missed it but heard good things, will go video-hunting – thank you so much for the link!
It was Chips..I kept getting surprised with Obama name all night long..and to finish with Steve Wonder is was a thrill…the crowd kept saying Obama!!! and i lost it when they showed his beautiful fave on a screen..:-)
Oh, I’ll probably start weeping like a baby watching that ….. tissues ready!
LOL!!! Jamie Fox is too funny:-)
Last night Soul Train Awads
Thank you. Mediaite had the Lord and something else posted. Wasn’t Jammie Foxx a comedian 1st? Didn’t he used to appear on some Fox show in the 1990s? I hope Chips gets more Videos. I want to see more. Oh my goodness.
He played in the show ‘In Living Colour” It was a great program already with the Wayans brothers and when Jamie joined the team along with Jim Carrey it was an hour of laughs, straight up.
oops I meant to say Awards
Kasai, we must be sisters – I posted the video right after you!!
There was one white guy, he was a presenter..I forgot his name…..but his co-presenter, asked him, what was he doing on Soul Train..He simply said “I voted Obama” then they High Fived and said TWO TERM BABY!!!!!! something like that….I hope I can find that video!
lol!!!……That was too funny!!!..leave to Jamie Fox
Pres Obama had about 68-70% of the Jewish votes. 71% of the Latino/Hispanic votes. 73% of the Asian American Votes. 85% of the Muslim Votes. 96% of the African American Votes. 39% of the White votes. Now and every American in between. Yes. yes, and each day, the Victory becomes sweeter for the votes keeps going up.
Is it any wonder that Fox, the right are still in denial? Yes. And I am loving every freaking minute of it.

Were they brothers in another life? Or just have become best friends in this one? I love seeing the two of them together!!
Just a tad over the top.
reply jumped the shark—landed in odd position—responding to Foxx’s lord and savior bizness. Ay.
Comments have gone a bit wonky in this thread, hope a new one will help
Community organizer, well he was damn good @ it, wouldn’t you say?
So Chipsticks, I went to Time mag to cast my Vote and then I clicked on the “See the Results” and this madness is what I found….
Name Definitely No Way
Mohamed Morsy 40,993 22,377
Malala Yousafzai 21,886 5,675
Barack Obama 14,643 12,968
What the heck?????
Ah GGail, the RW nutjobs have nothing better to do
Good Evenin’ All: Seems like everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I did as well and so so today, I was back on the diet and at the gym after work. Unfortunately, diet & exercising never really ends. LOL
Anyways, I am posting because I have something to share. Rep Alan Grayson was on Ed Schultz radio show today. As some of you know, I don’t like the Edster and his station was on my Ipad when I returned from lunch. Anyways, before I could tap to another channel, Alan Grayson comes on. So I am listening along. Towards the end of the conversation, Grayson states that he won his district by 23% because he ran ads that stated his opponent wanted to cut SS, raise the retirement age, etc. PBO did not state those things and only won by 2%. Well, let me tell you that I went off. Good thing my office door was closed. How dare he? He cant get re-elected unless PBO is on the top of the ticket. Plus, It is unfair to think his district is equivalent to the entire US. The nerve of that fat faced fuck. I will send an email to him. Right now, his email at house.gov is disabled because he can’t get re-elcted on his own record. These ‘faux progressives’ are quite arrogant. I went to his website and he is trying to raise $50K before 12/31. To date, he has raised $2021. Go figure. He cant even raise funds without PBO. I am going to continue searching because I am really upset about his words. They keep talking about ‘holding PBO accountable’ but what about themselves. Oh, I so mad at him!!
What is a matter with Ed
Ed Schultz and Grayson are among the so called progressives who helped us go down in 2010, with all of that craziness…Ed continued his loud mouth jibber on his tv show today.
LDS, I agree about the American Voters being Person of the Year. I agree, despite how hard the Republicans tried to keep us from voting. People got out there, stood in line for hours and hours just to vote.
Thanks, Anniebelle. There were so many behind the scene sacrifices that we will never read or know about because a lot of people just felt it was the right thing to do. It was for so many reasons, for so many people. It was just so personal. I personally felt connected to every one of the 47% Mitt was going to leave out. it was no longer about just me and my concerns. I was concerned about the rest of The outcast, the rejects. It was insulting. So I dug deeper for $5 more for them.
But we stood proudly together on Nov. 6th and made a difference. I went to bed feeling like a kid again on Christmas day when you have opened all your presents. The day has finally come to a close, you are peaceful. You do not have to wait for sleep. It meets you there in your warm bed. You want to dream, but the peace overtakes you because…..it is well. We were on one accord. We dares to believe and got the work done.
We dared to believe and got the job done………
I am so grateful to the voters of this country who showed up, stood in line, some for hours, were unswayed by the Voter ID and personal stonewalling tactics used by some precincts &/or voting volunteers, by gerrymandering the districts and trying to keep them down.
I’m proud of everyone who said or did something to wake people up to the elitism, lack of empathy, racism of the GOP. Thank God there were enough people who could see through the bull shit slung by the likes of Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Alan West, Karl Rove, Sheldon Adelson & the lot.
We dodged a bullet BIG TIME.
