#NEWSTAINERS & GOP will never have credibility until they hold GWB/Cheney/Condi accountable for their Lies & jokes about Iraqi WMD. @maddow— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 28, 2012
Good work, Bob! Next time after you capture the podium, come back and get me…please. Otherwise I’ll wander around in a fog talking to you all IN YOUR ABSENCE.
How do we have that happen? There will have to be a Republican who steps up, who acts with integrity, out of love for this country, our children, the future. Let us have it that that can happen.
Brought over comment from the last thread:
Justice in this country will not have been served until Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfield, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolowitz, Condoleeza Rice, George Bush and Jeb Bush are tried and found guilty of mass crimes against Americans and humanity for their various criminal role in the Iraq War and/or the 2000 Florida and 2004 Ohio elections.
We have not begun to hold accountable those who plotted, and then lied America into that war. The dimensions of the crime are innumerable and of such a scale, I assure you, America will not truly recover until we reconcile the damage done to our fellow citizens (especially all those who served in Iraq & their families) AND to the people of Iraq. That process has not begun, imho.
For a truly conservative opposition to emerge from the ashes of the Republican Party, it would be well led by someone who fully embraced the warning President Eisenhower delivered in Jan 1961, and it would be shaped by a policy that was the antithesis of the neocons. The Iraq War provides all the moral, strategic and fiscal lessons as well as solid justification for such a conservative policy. I’d applaud any Republican courageous enough to lead such a conservative opposition party. I have zero illusion that such a Republican exists, today.
Okay, I’m listening. I realize that I have been willing to let it all go by, so relieved that we now have leadership with integrity. GWB and his entourage were so hideous that I could barely look. Bob, do you really think it’s possible to bring such justice about? And before we go too far down this road, how about we ask for PBO’s thinking on this. That comes to mind, as he is such a fine thinker. Or maybe it’s our thinking to do, our justice to bring forward. I have no doubt that there would be healing and great transformative energy in taking such action.
“Or maybe it’s our thinking to do, our justice to bring forward. I have no doubt that there would be healing and great transformative energy in taking such action.”
Yes. It is for ‘us’ to do.
Part of what interests me about expanding the role of OFA and Barack Obama’s 23.8+ Million twitter followers to engage in persistent, ‘grass roots’ efforts to press Congress to act on legislative matters & support PBO’s nominees for Executive & Judicial positions is that activity, over time, will forge the type of community bonds and the scale of social network required to begin the necessary reconciliation for the Iraq War atrocity & for the era of GWB sanctioned torture. Such a community, fully enabled by ease of communication and access to the facts, would be a formidable force to press for justice.
I have a request, Bobfr. Will you keep opening up this conversation. I think you will; you keep doing it. You have a role to play here; Chips has created this venue; and each of us is learning to participate in a whole new realm of democracy, like we’ve never dreamed of. Or let me say ~I am learning this.~ We can continue to make a difference in wider and wider dimensions. okay, so to this particular inquiry, what comes to mind is Desmond Tutu’s Reconciliation work in South Africa. It seems like that’s what we’re talking about here. Do you see it that way?
Right now I have to go to bed. See you in the morning.
I went back yesterday to catch up on old posts (finally having a few minutes to read up all the old news), and I stumbled into a post from a few days ago where Chips was torturing poor gobrooklyn with picture after picture of President Obama in the rain. I am still recovering… I almost had to call 9-11 for resuscitation.
That was a most peculiar comment by him, he might as well have said ‘your best days are over Torres – just like your hair’. Almost felt sorry for him with the reception he got, but the fella really doesn’t help himself.
Really, how he got another major club managerial job after the mess he made of Inter is beyond me. How he got it at MY FUCKING TEAM is making me tear out what little is left of my hair. If I’d been at the Bridge Sunday I would’ve joined in the mockery of Mr. Fact. First Mike D’Antoni coaches the Lakers, now the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man is in charge of the Blues.
Bizarre stuff from Abramovich, he seems to have been fixated for a while on getting Rafa to Chelsea. Why?!?! He was crap at Liverpool, only the freaky CL win saved him, and he was rubbish at Inter – all the while, having his teams play football that would cure insomnia. Completely odd.
On a more important note, you gotta love Bayern Munich’s merchandising:
Oh No! It’s 10:44 here, almost bedtime for me. Now I’ll have to try to sleep with that picture in my head and the thought that that can’t really be his body, he’s bigger than that, except in one particular place, where I’m sure he’s a whole lot smaller.
This would be the perfect time for a good brainwashing.
All I have to do is SEE popcorn and I’m a ravening beast. And it’s too late at night to pop corn, let alone eat it. Besides, I’m not permitted that much salt, alas.
GB, you missed *A* blog tyrant trying to bully others into supporting her. Pathetic it was to witness, with everyone ‘rushing’ to give the expected answer as there was a threat made of comments being left in pending. Only one unnamed person was brave enough to withstand the pressure.. (That`s a truthful spin, I promise. Hmmm, Is there such a thing?)
A police officer sees a man driving around with a pickup truck full of penguins. He pulls the guy over and says: “You can’t drive around with penguins in this town! Take them to the zoo immediately.”
The guy says OK, and drives away.
The next day, the officer sees the guy still driving around with the truck full of penguins, and they’re all wearing sun glasses. He pulls the guy over and demands: “I thought I told you to take these penguins to the zoo yesterday?”
The guy replies: “I did … today I’m taking them to the beach!”
I am willing and ready to sign that petition now!!!!!!!!! As a fan of the Dallas Cowboys i only wish we could get rid of Jerry Jones, then the coach, then Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, just to name two.
GGail, you’re in L.A. It’s dinnertime. Why are you eating cereal? Do you need us to make you a good home-cooked meal? (Not that I’m making one tonight. House is clean. We don’t cook on cleaning lady days.)
LL, I have dinner before 6:00pm for healthy reasons, so just before I retire for bed, I have a snack & I’ve found dry Honey Nut Cherrios to do the trick – sweet, but healthy.
I rise at 5am for work – so I must wind down now. These photos of a wet POTUS are not good for me
Ha – yes, one of my best girlfriends is Cuban and we fight all the time about what time to meet for “dinner” – she loves the late hours, my body doesn’t burn the fat and I hate extra exercise weeks before going to my doctor for my check-up – hahahahah!
Funny, that’s when we usually end up cooking something very messy. I don’t know how that happens. We’re miles from any restaurant at all — so no take out. I even have to make pizza from scratch, though I admit it’s pretty tasty.
Dear John,
I hope you can help me. The other day, I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house watching TV. My car stalled, and then it broken down about a mile down the road, and I had to walk back to get my husband’s help. When I got home, I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor’s daughter! I am 32, my husband is 34, and the neighbor’s daughter is 19. We have been married for 10 years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted they had been having an affair for the past six months. He won’t go to counseling, and I’m afraid I am a wreck and need advice urgently. Can you please help?
Sincerely,
Sheila
Dear Sheila,
A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors.
I hope this helps,
John
…..what about the rest of the story? Just goes to show you, the mins can only deal with one problem at a time, give him two weeks and he’ll get around to the other problem.
A ventriloquist comes onto the stage with his dummy and starts his act. One bit requires his dummy to tell Dumb-Blonde Jokes. After a few jokes, an angry blonde woman finally stands up and starts speaking her mind.
“I have had it with the stereotyping of all blondes being stupid!” the woman yells, and she continues ranting on about this.
Finally, the ventriloquist says, “Sorry ma’am …”
The woman cuts him off by saying, “You stay out of this. I’m talkin’ to the dummy.”
I suspect that you hold a lot of sway with some of your favorite political writers (blogger, members of TODVille s etc) who have CONSISTENTLY and UNABASHEDLY supported PBO through the first term and whose articles you have repeatedly quoted here. These are people who helped maintain the focus of PBO’s journey and kept us strong through the highs and lows.
Would it be too much to ask them to each commemorate this historical year by putting down a brief explanation of WHY they feel that supportive of PBO and what Team Obama is trying to do to contribute to the progress.
I suspect that I am not the only one who is wonders WHY they never wavered and how they sustain their belief and trust in PBO.
Such a compilation would be our treasure whether or not other publications choose POTUS as “The Person of The Year”. Together with a choice of “our favorite” O-photo, we could use this as our commemorative issue of the upcoming PBO inauguration
Hiya Linda, a lovely idea, but I honestly hold no sway at all with anyone! But I promise, I’ll try to put together some nice compilations for the end of the year, so much good stuff to celebrate. Thanks Linda.
For some reason, the photo above of PBO eating popcorn made me think of another photo that was taken of PBO eating a strawberry at one of those annual events with the members of the media (may be WHCD). Anyone else remember that photo?
Oh yes, I remember that picture. He did look very cute, and focused. There’s another one where he’s actually looking at the camera, but I hope this will do.
I’ve never seen this one before! Really, you know you ladies need to get it together. You can’t keep collecting these pictures and bringing them out at unsuspecting moments. That’s not right; even I know that. You don’t know people’s heart condition when they plug in innocently to update their INFORMATION file on the admin’s progress. My heart is okay, I think, but you never know for others. /tongue in cheek/
Chips, you absolutely NEED a bell for when we are all chatting in a group and you decide to take off for another thread!!! 45 minutes later before I realize that I’m left behind! And it’s not just Chips, you guys. You all left me behind, with one or two of you running back to throw and answer my way ever so often. That cannot be good for my psyche!!!!
Yes(dejectedly). Again. My grandmother used to say ‘you can take a horse to water but you cannot force him to drink’. Little did she know she was describing her own grandchild! How many times have you guys demonstrated that I have to stay attuned to the movements around me if I don’t want to be left behind? Now Japa has more ammunition to hit me with. Sigh.
Oopsie! Didn’t your email notify you, VC? Mine always goes Ping! (or some such) but often I am banking, or writing logs, and can’t get over in time. However, I’m used to being on the wrong thread, as I get here so late in the day….
I think Rachel had an excellent show tonight, from beginning to end. It’s really worth watching the re-run
on tv or computer. Even if you are not a RM fan. In-depth analysis on the possible reason for McCain/Repub
current craziness. Also good interview with Charlie Crist former FL Gov.
Chips you might find the first segment of the RM show worth FPaging. See what you think.
My prayers to Fred for a successful procedure and recovery. Been lurking off and on. And Chips, you burned my eyeballs again with that horrible, horrible image. I’m gonna have to tread lightly here, if I am to continue visiting. Again, Fred, you’ll be in my prayers tonight. Nite all.
GGail, it was all designed as an important life lesson. We start out in a 1-1 tie (unless you’re Chelsea, in which case it’s probably 0-1), and we have to strive and work hard to tip the balance in favor of the good things. So: One rained-on PBO, one Newt Mankini – Forward to make it 2-1!
You’re bringing Chelsea into your lame explanation as to why you can’t control yourself regarding popcorn? Sigh…..what else do I expect from a Man U fan who’s had back to back to back humiliating losses.
A ‘B’ for ‘effort’! A whole ‘B’ just for effort? That’s what is wrong these days, top marks being given our despite little effort on the student’s part. How about a ;C; or even ‘D’ instead?
G’nite VC. And yes I have been having sweet dreams since Nov.6th.
Btw, VC, I have been out since thanksgiving holiday so have not commented, but I must compliment you
on your great work preparing that Tribute to Ms. CHIPS. Very touching.
Remember when Obama joked about war like Bush did about "where's the Iraqi WMD"? Yeah, neither do I.— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) November 28, 2012
That makes me so angry, and sad … then angry again. I know my BP does not need this, but I hate what he and Cheney did to this country. I wish all of you could read my mind so I wouldn’t have to type the words, how I first learned we were probably going to war in Iraq, how when I heard my heart jumped up into my throat, my stomach lurched, my eyes teared up and I didn’t even have a son or husband in the military … I just hurt, then about a year later after our first troops were deployed (maybe not even that long) I attended the funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq
My comments keep getting broken … then disappearing; it must be my bedtime … so just a quick finish, I attended the funeral of one of the first young men to lose their lives in Iraq (the brother of one of my son’s friends), I have a commemorative bracelet, and my heart was broken. I wish we could bring those responsible, those who later scoffed, who said Osama Bin Laden was not worth the time looking for, who vehemently swore there were weapons of mass destruction, then laughed about it, who won an election in part by instilling fear in Americans that 9/11 needed to be avenged and they were the ones to do it. I hate them.
There is some consolation, I’m hoping for all of us, in the fact that we have installed President Barack Obama in the White House for a total of eight years (not nearly long enough, from my POV), and he is trying to bring all of our precious troops home in a measured and responsible way. This does not make up for the horrible Bush-Cheney crowd’s actions, but at least they no longer can make these decisions. So sorry to hear your personal story, daisydem.
Evening all. Playing catch up before calling it a day -AGAIN-
Want to send warm reiki healing energy to you Fred to aid in your speedy recovery. You have certainly had your share of troubles, first with your mom, then with your brother and now this.
You have shown time and again that you are strong and I am confident that you will come out of this even stronger. (((((FRED)))))
As the the Mankini image:: Shame on you ChipsChica. You can be such an adorable scoundrel!
Nite to Chips and my TOD Family. Checking in early. ((((((((( Beautiful Prayers and Thoughts to Fred))))))))))
I have on my piano a lovely flower and a lovely scented candle. I will light it again in the morning.
Fred, I hope you will hear all of the beautiful words singing a lovely melody of a full recovery as we all speak our words of love, compassion, faith, and hope through our lovely symphony of Family Love to you. Goodnight, dear Fred. You are surely in my prayers and thoughts for goodness to surround you. HZ
What???? Florida, again—-sigh.
Sending out surveys asking personal sex life questions, like “Has a man ever poked holes in a condom to purposely get you pregnant?” If you reveal all, you get a $10 gift card to CVS.
Oddest thing I’ve ever heard—-well, not THE oddest—-but odd. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/11/florida-asks-women-to-spill-their-sex-habits/
I clicked the link and was confused for a minute why it was so light outside. New Zealand looks beautifully sunny – they are clearly having a great time! Thanks for the link – can’t wait to see the movie.
AMK, I think your prediction of 5 mil. margin of victory for PBO is about to be fulfilled. I understand CA is still counting provisional ballots. I also hear that there are still votes to be counted in NJ and NY. I strongly believe that If it hand’t been for hurricane sandy, that affected NJ and NY in particular, the President’s winning margin would by now be much higher than 4.4 mil.
Dear @Messina2012 Pathetic, delusional GOP have Faux News, Rove & Norquist. We have 23.8+M @BarackObama Tweeps ready to roll. NO CONTEST!— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) November 28, 2012
How Obama Shut Iran Out By ‘Leading From Behind’ On Gaza
Winner: USA. Loser: Iran.
Right there in a nutshell, you have the results of the most recent conflict in Gaza.
The ceasefire agreement has proved that – as before – the United States is the authoritative power when it comes to order in the Middle East.
At the same time, the Gaza truce showed that the Obama administration’s foreign policy strategy, largely honed by outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – of exercising American power indirectly by working through regional networks – can bear fruit.
The United States put Egypt in charge of negotiations between Israel and Hamas, thereby taking the Islamic Republic of Iran, which up to now has been the Palestinian terror organization’s main sponsor, out of the equation.
Rachel Maddow explained on her show tonight that her theory is the GOP wants Sen. Kerry to be the SOS so his Senate seat is open as they think Scott Brown can win it back in Feb for MA. Lawrence did not explain it but mentioned it last week too.
The fact that the GOP haz a BIG SAD over @AmbassadorRice is clear evidence she is PERFECT for any job they don't want her in.— Tally Briggs (@bardgal) November 28, 2012
Morning Friends!
What the hell am I still doing up at this hour? Only reason I could think of is to come and say hi to my TOD Fam!! ‘ssup my people?!!!
Hi dudette – it’s almost dinner time in my world – just turning on the lights – cause storm is across the sky. I just listened to Rachel & I agree with all the folks on here – McCain’s nonsense is to get a senate election in Massachusetts. I cannot believe that the media continues to even listen to McCain – let alone give him a platform.
obamacare creates huge job market in i.t. and customer service, with big contracts for specialized training; bloomberg touts opportunites:
‘ On the IT front, health-care systems, data companies and other industries in need of talent all are competing for the same workers, he said. The U.S. economy may create as many as 758,800 new computer and IT jobs, a 22 percent increase, from 2010 to 2020, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in its outlook on job growth, released in March.
A growing portion of those tech positions will be in what the BLS calls “health care and social assistance,” which will account for about 28 percent of all new jobs in the U.S. economy by 2020. The industry, which includes public and private hospitals, nursing and residential-care facilities, and individual and family services, may increase by a third, or 5.7 million new jobs, twice as many as any other industry, the report said. ‘
al jazeera oped analyzes bibi’s timing in attacking gaza:
‘ “Pivot to Asia” was seen as Obama’s signature second term foreign policy initiative.
The pivot was not simply an acknowledgement of Asia’s growing economic power (it accounts for 25 percent of US exports and 35 percent of its imports – and supports 2.4 million jobs). It marked a break with the United States’ decade-long engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan – a hapless budget sapping adventure that yielded few benefits. So while Obama would never publicly say so, the message to the Arab world – and Israel – was clear: We have other priorities. ‘
The article above offers a point of view re the recent Israeli-Arab outburst of violence that I hadn’t really considered. It’s well worth a read. Thanks, Susanne for bringing it to our attention.
Hey Susanne, you are not alone. Just couldn’t spend a lot of time here but thanks for all the pics and comments. Helps keep me going through the night.
Good morning the Village of TOD:
Wow! What a fun time you guys had here last night. Popcorn ,bikini Goldennightmare, Tums, Golden Dream Cocktail, tell it to the Paw……
Lord have mercy……I missed all the fun, but sure enjoyed laughing with you guys.
Have a great day, you Pary Animals!
@westwingreport A Question: Is Sen. Graham subject to Article 88 of UCMJ as a USAF reserve officer accruing military benefits?— TRAVELMAN (@TRAVELLMAN) November 28, 2012
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
Many People on this blog still watch MSNBC nightly Shows. Their excuse is because they need to know what they say so they can hit back. A worthy cause I supported. However, all these Shows are reruns.
For example; I told my Mom that Ed Shultz would have on hisShow Bernie Sanders railing against the President, before anything was even agreed to.
Sure enough, Sanders was on doing just that and Big Ed followed suit riling up the Ideogical left.
As a result, some regulars in this blog either support Big Ed and Sanders or some are saying cool it, Chillax. So, what has happened? Divisions in our own ranks? These are facts and it is starting to happen again, just in time for the midterm elections.
Hello?
Morning everyone:) Morning, Chipness….I certainly hope that you “rise and shine” a whole lot earlier than yesterday! I missed out on all the AM conversation because I had to go to work! We shall see……it’s rather amazing the expectations that have come because of this place…..on time, Rise and Shine….to be read with coffee, not a burger…..fabulous photos for 1st…….Mankini if you’re bad….or that squirrel head guy……Paws and drinks….recipes…..no wonder why we never want to leave:) Oh! and great tunes…Dudette is a great DJ…I tried, but I can’t compete….
Morning, Desertf! We meet again. Wishing you a great Wednesday with the little ones. I’m trying to catch up on stuff I missed because I fell asleep last night before midnight.
Psst, Df! I’m staying far away from the door today so as to resist temptation. I’m leaving it to all the athletes who are in shape and rearing for a bit of exercise fun. Good luck if that includes you.
HA! NO, that doesn’t include me:) Wednesday with the little ones will be great, just like it always is…long day though….it’s tutoring night! Friday I leave for FL to visit with my dad for his 80th birthday…I WILL be taking my laptop! I don’t know how yardarm does it….I’d need my fix:) Hope you have a most excellent day. sweet vc! Bet you can’t stay away from the door!
You leaving for Florida after classes or taking the day off? Whichever, have a good visit. I visited my old man, also in his 80′s, in Texas in the summer. It was a long journey, and he’s not as sharp as he used to be though he is still opinionated. His wife and I had some good conversations when he went on the road though.
Day off:) They came out here for my son’s graduation in May…but I haven’t stepped foot in FL for years. I don’t care for flying anymore, become such a laborious task….I’m a homebody. I was saving all my great info for my dad before the election, because he thinks he’s informed because he watches the news and reads a paper…needless to say, he’s not informed. We’ll have that conversation He has no computer and doesn’t think it’s necessary…the world is moving too fast for him. He’s very old fashioned…but fit as a fiddle and in excellent health….I mentioned the other day that he looks just like Bill Clinton. No joke.
My sister and one brother will be there, too…whenever we all get together, it’s a hoot. We have some serious hilarity going on! Looking forward to it…just not the plane ride:) Did I mention the BEACH!! I NEED THE BEACH! Must say, pretty excited for that:)
‘he thinks he’s informed because he watches the news and reads a paper…needless to say, he’s not informed. ‘
THIS, I’m very familiar with! I have two friends that this describes perfectly. Two years or so ago, and again during the debates, I proposed that in the interest of our friendship we not discuss the President.
Have a super duper time with Dad and the siblings. Oh, and with Mom too. If you actually go in the water, you can take a dip for me. I remember that YOU like swimming Just teasing.
I think A LOT if us are familiar with that scenario!! I don’t think I’ll be dipping myself in the water this time of year…too cold for me! But I can breathe the sea air and hear the sounds of the water, and have my feet polished by the sand…that’s just bliss to me. I DO like to swim!! No teasing!
I know you like to swim because you offered to teach me, saying it was ‘easy’. You ‘poor’ soul didn’t realize what an impossible chore that would have been, kinda like someone offering to teach me to sing. Some things have got to be accepted for what they are, and I’ve faced reality on both those things a long time ago. I don’t regret not being able to swim, but I DO regret not being able to sing.
Good morning peeps! Wasn’t sure what McCain’s game was with respect to Ambassador Rice until I saw the clip of him promoting Kerry for the position. Laughed out loud at McCain’s statement that Kerry came within a hair of winning the presidency. First time, I’m sure, he’s made a statement like that. But if McCain is stupid enough to think that PBO will let him dictate his SoS he is more out touch than I previously thought. This will be fun to watch. And I sure hope Ayotte has sunk her career in the process of hooking up with these two jerks. Have seen posts in other places from people in NH who are absolutely furious with her and determined to take her down in 2016.
Stupidest Thing McCain Ever Said?
Could John McCain really be this dumb. On an interview on his Benghazi/Susan Rice double down he just questioned how it was we had so much information so quickly about the raid on the bin Laden compound than we had about the attack in Benghazi.
Now, you may remember that the facts of what apparently happened in the bin Laden raid changed pretty dramatically from the initial accounts. But set that aside, you tend to know more about a raid you spent a year planning and executed yourself than a raid on your compound which as kinda tends to happen in these you didn’t know about in advance and happened in dark.
Ayotte is making me even more furious than Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. These are familiar shenanigans with McCain and Graham, but she, newly elected and not in Mississippi or some other deep red state but from mostly sane, Obama state N.H., immediately links up with this most pathetic, bitter, anti-Obama duo. And everyone should be laughing at every word she is saying in her weird, irritating voice—–it’s so transparently political and obviously dishonest. Ugh—–the bottom of the barrel in the political world.
Agree 100% about Ayotte. McCain is still bitter about 2008 and Graham is using the attack on Susan Rice to rile up the redneck base to prevent a primary challenge for his 2014 re-election bid in SC. Ayotte’s actions make no sense.
Good morning, TODville!! Wake up – POTUS will be giving us a new hashtag today!!
Obama promoting fiscal cliff agenda on social media with My2K hashtag
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is introducing a new hashtag to the fiscal cliff debate.
The White House plans to promote (hashtag)My2K on Twitter and other social media — a reference to the estimated $2,200 tax increase that a typical middle-class family of four would see if the Bush tax cuts expire.
Obama is holding an event with middle-class Americans on Wednesday and urging the public to press Congress to protect tax cuts for families earning $250,000 or less.
The president is also meeting with corporate executives at the White House on Wednesday and then traveling to Pennsylvania on Friday to push for upper income bracket earners to pay higher tax rates. It’s part of a campaign to pressure Republicans in Congress to support raising taxes on the wealthy.
WASHINGTON — As a freshman senator campaigning for president in May of 2008, Barack Obama made a stop on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana, where he became part of a new family.
Hartford and Mary Black Eagle formally adopted Obama as their son during a private traditional Native American ceremony, giving him a new name – Barack Black Eagle – and making him an honorary member of the tribe.
On Monday night, the president lost his adopted father, who was also a spiritual leader for the tribe. After battling emphysema and pneumonia, Hartford Black Eagle, 78, died in his sleep at home at Lodge Grass, Mont., according to his son, Cedric, the chairman of the Crow Tribe.
As the family prepared to make funeral arrangements Tuesday afternoon, Cedric Black Eagle said his mother was expecting a telephone call from the president later in the day. He said his father was proud to count the president among his sons, though he never made a big deal about it.
Rachel Maddow explains what may really be behind the Republican Senators’ objections to Ambassador Susan Rice as a possible Secretary of State; John Kerry’s Senate seat, and the special election that would be held should he be nominated instead of Rice. NBC Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell weigh is.
The reason that makes no sense to me is that Kerry has been named as a strong possibility for other positions if he is not named Sec. of St.—-and will likely vacate that seat in any case.
This theory is not new. Even right here on TOD a couple weeks ago, one or two folks had speculated that the Repubs probably want Kerry out of the senate so that they can put Scott Brown back there. That may be a partial motivator but I don’t think it fully explains McCain’s hostility.
I think the GOP/MSM has been on a fishing expedition where PBO’s foreign policy is concerned. They were hoping that the Patraeus “scandal” would lead them to something with PBO – but when that failed to materialize they dropped it like a hot potato.
PBO cannot have a good second term or else that would severely limit the space for any GOP candidate to run in 2016. The night PBO won, Barbara Walters immediately began concern trolling about how Presidents don’t usually have good second terms. That wasn’t lost on me.
Smartypants gave another explanation yesterday that seems to me to have some merit… ‘The Republicans next hostage – Susan Rice’. Can be accessed from the right or from the shortened link below

I dont know if anyone has seen this link but the right winger have and they are flooding twitter with negative comments

Wal-Mart says the Tazreen Fashions Ltd. factory was making clothes for it without its knowledge. Wal-Mart had received an audit deeming the factory “high risk” last year.
Workers who survived the fire say exit doors were locked, fire extinguishers didn’t work and managers had told them to go back to work after the fire alarm rang. A fire official has said that far fewer people would have died if there had been just one emergency exit.
[Oh puhleeze sleaze: "Wal-Mart says the Tazreen Fashions Ltd. factory was making clothes for it without its knowledge."]
They are trying to enter India via backdoors but there a massive opposition building up. Our parliament has been not functioning over our corrupt govt’s move to allow these big players here in a non-transparent manner.
100% of indian pols & government officials are 100% corrupt. I don’t see even one pol who isn’t tainted. It has got to be up to the people and the local traders and unions.
AMK, I think the effers are lying. Can an entire management level group not know who’s making their shit? Someone has to pay someone for said goods. Unless the factory had a standing order prior to the audit that they were completing, maybe? Even then, Wal-Mart could have easily exited whatever contract after the audit. Greed.
It infuriates me as a woman to see Kelly Ayotte eyes down standing with McBitter and Lady Lindsey in meek agreement with their lies…— patti (@utbrp) November 28, 2012
Honestly, as a Female, whenever I see in print or spoken by one person or another referring to Lindsey Graham as a woman, I go a little in sane. That is demeaning me, as a female. Lindsey should be attacked by who he is. When Women join in cajoling Lindsey with stereotypical gender nonsense…..we join those who disparage Us as women.
Boehner only seems to come alive to govern (snark) just before the President is slated to meet with a group, usually of voters. Governing to GOP seems to be media ops, hostage taking and obstruction, obstruction, obstruction.
.@SpeakerBoehner: We've been watching you 'live' since 2010 and we've seen major obstruction, extended vacays, anti-women bills and NO #AJA!— Vick C. (@sonamie) November 28, 2012

Yo Bob!
Bob!!!!!!!
Love it
Good work, Bob! Next time after you capture the podium, come back and get me…please. Otherwise I’ll wander around in a fog talking to you all IN YOUR ABSENCE.
VC, count on it
‘kay.
So cute!
How do we have that happen? There will have to be a Republican who steps up, who acts with integrity, out of love for this country, our children, the future. Let us have it that that can happen.
This is a good start:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/sep/03/tony-blair-the-hague-iraq-war
Jeb Bush is included, too? Is this because of his role in stealing the 2000 election?
Among other dastardly deeds, yes, imho.
There ought to be a way to put the 2000 SCOTUS on the hook for that obscene 11th-hour decision to stop the FL recount.

Thank you, Sara. Very thoughtful.

Happy to do as you request, Sara. And, agree with your assessment of what Chips has enabled.
Yes, I do see Desmond Tutu’s Reconciliation work as relevant. Also, consider the fact that President Obama and Elie Wiesel have agreed to co-author “A Book of Friends” (http://forward.com/articles/165485/elie-wiesel-and-obama-will-co-author-book/) as potential framework.
Hope you have a restful evening and thank you for the dialogue,
Bob
#TrustBarack He’s Earned It.
The commission in South Africa was the TRUTH and Reconciliation body. You can’t have reconciliation until you have the truth.
Aware of that. That is why EACH OF US, must bring the TRUTH #FORWARD 24/7/365 (leap yr + 1).
Thank you.
#TrustBarack He’s Earned It.
Good work, Bob!
HEY!
Ooooh, so close GB.
More #WetBarack for GB
LOL!!! You ain’t right Chips! He’s walking away from me….IN THE RAIN!!
#hearbreak
Panic not GB, now he’s looking your way:
He’s up to something. “Come here girl”. Must be looking at Michelle.
Where is your secret stash of Obama-In-The-Rain pics by the way? Do you just Google “Obama in the rain”? Asking for a friend
HA! You’re funny.
lol “asking for a friend”.
That was a good one, wasn’t it forus
You tweaked to that too, you two!
You mean everybody doesn’t have a PBO Rain folder?
I missed the memo on that one.
O.M.G!!!!!
There you are, Dudette! Finally recovered from Thanksgiving, eh? Here Gurl, have some water!
Is there still a link to that thread available?
Mmm, buttered popcorn!
Huh, Goldennightmare
That should be outlawed!!!
Oh no you didn’t Chips. You must have sensed that I had not had my big laugh today.
COS! How could you laugh at such, well, fine art?????
EWWWWWWWW…….I’ve been blinded by the mankini…..
PLEASE. Pass the brain bleach…I can’t live with that in my mind.
Why, Lawd, Why?????
Blame the buttery popcorn Dakota, it turns me all evil.
Oooh Chips darlin…please back away from it. We’re all bleaching our eyeballs and hoping we don’t go blind!
EVIL B****!!! MY EYES!!! OH MY EYES!!!! *SOB*WHIMPER*
LL, are you talking about Newt or Torres?
/runs speedily
Meh, Torres. Rafa “Fact” Benitez said that Torres peaked at Liverpool. Really good way to motivate a player, you pudgy fucking assface.
(Have I mentioned that I hate Rafa?)
(God, I really need to step away from sports.)
“God, I really need to step away from sports”
Huh, I know the feeling!
ROFL. I’m partial to Hoffenheim in Bundesliga just because its ascent is such a cool story.
Never had a particular German favorite – until I saw this dog jersey. Go Bayern!!!
UGH goldennightmare is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! Thanks a LOT Chips!!! XD
That was cruel goldendreamer, sorry!!
O/T but a “Golden Dream” used to be my favorite drink!!!! Every time I see your name, I can’t stop thinking about it. So, thanks.
A “Golden Dream” drink? Sounds yummy.
Here ya go!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
9-11? It’s an emergency.
“Chat away – but let this be the end of any buttery popcorn mentions. We need to move on, what’s done is done.”
What did I miss?
Chips gave in to cravings. Reprehensible cravings.
And got everyone else craving. It was awful.
All I have to do is SEE popcorn and I’m a ravening beast. And it’s too late at night to pop corn, let alone eat it. Besides, I’m not permitted that much salt, alas.
Alas. It’s awful, I tell ya!
Men’s faults are always the women’s doing.
I’m sure your answer will be the same as mine, but serious question: Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire?
BS. Tanqueray is overpriced BS for show-offs.
My thoughts precisely. Mmmmmm… BS is as ambrosia of the gods.
Hey y’all… Bombay Sapphire was on sale for the holiday…I just had the most delicious dirty martini!
Costco used to sell the 1.75 litre bottle of Tanqueray. They now sell the 1.75 litre bottle of BS. I’m so happy about that—Sapphire for $25!!
Wow … in my world Bombay Sapphire is much more expensive than Tanqueray. I usually “settle” for Tanqueray.
Actually, if you go to BevMo, they’re pretty comparable.
Cute – penguins are my favourites!
What??? Cowboys fans petition Obama to remove owner/GM Jerry Jones—–
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-dallas-cowboys-petition-obama-jones-20121127,0,3404375.story
Hmmmm…. Maybe Laker fans can petition him to remove Jim Buss… We’re dying here.
This could catch on. Who all is having a bad season? Petition Obama. Presto/Changeo.
Makes sense. Kind of like the book and website, “Barack Obama is my new bicycle.”
My mom said that Halle Berry asked PBO to make the paparazzi stop following her….WTF, hire a body guard woman.
The dumbest thing the Lakers have done yet, is fail to rehire Phil Jackson. D’antoni?!!! D’antoni?!!! Dumb, dumb, dumb!!!!!
Ugh, don’t remind me. It’s effing Jim Buss. Another rich kid riding on daddy’s coattails.
I didn’t mean to push you to the verge of a nightmare. But it was stupid! stupid! stupid!
I am willing and ready to sign that petition now!!!!!!!!! As a fan of the Dallas Cowboys i only wish we could get rid of Jerry Jones, then the coach, then Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, just to name two.
Hmmmm, I sit down at the computer and I see President Obama eating popcorn while I’m eating dry Honey Nut Cherrios – coincidence…..I think not!
Good night Chipsticks & TOD family.
Fred is in my prayers tonight.
These photos of a wet POTUS are not good for me
I know, you should eat dinner before 6. But I’m Latino, and that’s just weird. It’s amazing that I had Thanksgiving ready as early as I did.
Yum! My mom makes delicious homemade pizza – homemade crust and interesting toppings. Delicious!
My thoughts and prayers are with Fred and family tonight – hoping for a very fast recovery
This one’s for amk …
Why men shouldn’t write advice columns
Dear John,
I hope you can help me.
I hope this helps,
John
What? John’s answer is exactly right.
…..what about the rest of the story? Just goes to show you, the mins can only deal with one problem at a time, give him two weeks and he’ll get around to the other problem.
what other problem ?
So naughty.
ha ha ha! wow.
THAT’S funny!!
What is the difference between a sofa and a man watching Monday Night Football?
The sofa doesn’t keep asking for beer.
with that, I am outta here.
Not so fast.
Now gunnite.
You better leave
Rest well friend ….
It’s a good thing you’re already long gone… (although, I did laugh quite loudly at that one)…
Chips,
A completely “random” request:
Thanks Linda.
you hold sway with me
Ha, thanks Linda, you are VERY kind!
For some reason, the photo above of PBO eating popcorn made me think of another photo that was taken of PBO eating a strawberry at one of those annual events with the members of the media (may be WHCD). Anyone else remember that photo?
Was he barefooted? If not, I don’t think I’m interested.
Oh yes, I remember that picture. He did look very cute, and focused. There’s another one where he’s actually looking at the camera, but I hope this will do.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/beautifuldaisybell/4812264509/
“45 minutes later before I realize that I’m left behind!”
So VC, you were talking to yourself back there? AGAIN?
Yes(dejectedly). Again. My grandmother used to say ‘you can take a horse to water but you cannot force him to drink’. Little did she know she was describing her own grandchild! How many times have you guys demonstrated that I have to stay attuned to the movements around me if I don’t want to be left behind? Now Japa has more ammunition to hit me with. Sigh.
Hey, just be grateful Amk is gone to bed – can you imagine the grief you’d get?
I doubt he’s gone to bed; probably is around somewhere, but I am grateful he didn’t comment.
Oopsie! Didn’t your email notify you, VC? Mine always goes Ping! (or some such) but often I am banking, or writing logs, and can’t get over in time. However, I’m used to being on the wrong thread, as I get here so late in the day….
No, no email notification. If there is one is sure hasn’t been loud enough or long enough!
Aw, that looks like my old man Ranger.
What’s wrong with his/her paw? It looks a tad bit large for his/her body, doesn’t it?
Grr, embedding disabled, don’t these eejits know they still get YouTube hits if the video is watched on another site?!
Ah, here it is – from 31 seconds:
Talk to the Paw…..meowie
I LOVE THAT KITTEH!!!
so……. what’s done is done? I’m watching http://www.nowlive.com/TheHobbitUSA – what did I miss??? Why do we need popcorn?
I think Rachel had an excellent show tonight, from beginning to end. It’s really worth watching the re-run
on tv or computer. Even if you are not a RM fan. In-depth analysis on the possible reason for McCain/Repub
current craziness. Also good interview with Charlie Crist former FL Gov.
Chips you might find the first segment of the RM show worth FPaging. See what you think.
Have a good night TOD.
Thanks HOPE, missed it tonight, will try to include clips in the morning thread.
Agree. And, for those not watching, LOD is doing same basic segment……it’s all about one Senate seat.
Good night, Hope. Sweet dreams.
Nite all.
CHIPSTICKS!!!!! I scrolled up to see wet POTUS before shutting off my computer and ran upon MANKINI !!! HOW COULD YOU!!!!!! ugh
That is the lameness explanation that I’ve eva heard. You been taking lessons from McCain?
tsk, tsk – Good night
Nite GGail!!!
You’re bringing Chelsea into your lame explanation as to why you can’t control yourself regarding popcorn? Sigh…..what else do I expect from a Man U fan who’s had back to back to back humiliating losses.
I agree with GGail “Lame” But you do get an B for effort, slight as it was.
A ‘B’ for ‘effort’! A whole ‘B’ just for effort? That’s what is wrong these days, top marks being given our despite little effort on the student’s part. How about a ;C; or even ‘D’ instead?
http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
We will never speak of this {buttery, buttery, fluffy popcorn} again.
G’nite VC. And yes I have been having sweet dreams since Nov.6th.
Btw, VC, I have been out since thanksgiving holiday so have not commented, but I must compliment you
on your great work preparing that Tribute to Ms. CHIPS. Very touching.
TY, but it was meant to be a joint thingy to CC.
‘You can be such an adorable scoundrel!’
THIS, Lunar Sea, and a good night to you!
goodnite folks!
Glen Beck is one deranged human being. That is all.
In the dictionary, next to the definition of RWNJ, it’s got his photo. No, seriously. The man is sicko.
Did you read about his latest sicko attention-getting stunt?
His new novel “Agenda 21″?
LOL! Even worse.
What did he do now?
Go down @BuzzfeedAndrew’s Twitter TL and you’ll see what I’m referring to.
Oh. My. God.
Exactly.
That bastard had better not inherit his own planet on his death.
He’s trying to compete with McCain for the 2012 Deranged Cretin of the Year Award.
He may have won.
Prayers for your swift and complete recovery, Fred.
HZ
Fred, wising you a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

What did I miss, and why do we need popcorn?
I’m sorry – I’ve been watching this LIVE STREAM: http://www.nowlive.com/TheHobbitUSA
I clicked the link and was confused for a minute why it was so light outside. New Zealand looks beautifully sunny – they are clearly having a great time! Thanks for the link – can’t wait to see the movie.
Yum! He makes popcorn look good..
As with pretty much everything…
Good morning
AMK, I think your prediction of 5 mil. margin of victory for PBO is about to be fulfilled. I understand CA is still counting provisional ballots. I also hear that there are still votes to be counted in NJ and NY. I strongly believe that If it hand’t been for hurricane sandy, that affected NJ and NY in particular, the President’s winning margin would by now be much higher than 4.4 mil.
nath. Yes, CA has come big way for PBO. It was double digit deficit a week back and it’s only -6.7% now.
The lead has now increased to 4.53 mil and the bot is down to 47.4%. I really want that vulture capitalist at 47.0%.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

http://www.businessinsider.com/obamas-policy-working-in-gaza-ceasefire-2012-11

Off to nod………………………….
Hope you rest peacefully in the knowledge that 3 weeks ago we transformed humanity by re-electing President Obama, df!
so true!! they are afraid of her, as they should be.
Morning Friends!
What the hell am I still doing up at this hour? Only reason I could think of is to come and say hi to my TOD Fam!! ‘ssup my people?!!!
Hey, it’s cold & dark in here. Could somebody turn on the lights?
Hi dudette – it’s almost dinner time in my world – just turning on the lights – cause storm is across the sky. I just listened to Rachel & I agree with all the folks on here – McCain’s nonsense is to get a senate election in Massachusetts. I cannot believe that the media continues to even listen to McCain – let alone give him a platform.
Okay, guess everybodys off in la-la-land! Might as well follow suit. If anybody’s out there lurking, see ya!!
hello tods! just checking back in–anything exciting happening? beautiful full moon night here in hawaii.
obamacare creates huge job market in i.t. and customer service, with big contracts for specialized training; bloomberg touts opportunites:

Thanks, Susanne for bringing it to our attention.
oh, so somebody’s awake!
Hey Susanne, you are not alone. Just couldn’t spend a lot of time here but thanks for all the pics and comments. Helps keep me going through the night.

Ah…now I know what this means. Courtesy of http://usmilitary.about.com/od/punitivearticles/a/mcm88.htm
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
oooohhh!! nice!
We’ll have that conversation
He has no computer and doesn’t think it’s necessary…the world is moving too fast for him.
I remember that YOU like swimming
Just teasing.
McCain has lost all his marbles:
Stupidest Thing McCain Ever Said?
Could John McCain really be this dumb. On an interview on his Benghazi/Susan Rice double down he just questioned how it was we had so much information so quickly about the raid on the bin Laden compound than we had about the attack in Benghazi.
Now, you may remember that the facts of what apparently happened in the bin Laden raid changed pretty dramatically from the initial accounts. But set that aside, you tend to know more about a raid you spent a year planning and executed yourself than a raid on your compound which as kinda tends to happen in these you didn’t know about in advance and happened in dark.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2012/11/stupidest_thing_mccain_ever_said.php
Josh really needs to hire an editor. His errors are atrocious.

Some day news this morning.
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2012/11/27/175723/barack-black-eagle-obama-loses.html
Oh my gosh, how sad. I know PBO loved this man dearly.
Rest in Peace, Hartford Black Eagle.
And I wish his family peace.
same here, meta. I wish them peace…I know that PBO will do something very special for them…even if the rest of us never hear about it.
This is sad news. May he rest in peace. It was wonderful to watch the beautiful relationship Pres. Obama had with Hartford and Mary Black Eagle.
Sure was. I don’t think that ever happened before with an American president…
With the White House Tribal Nations Conference up on Dec. 5, I know he will be honored.
I was saddened to hear this as well. May he RIP. My condolences go out to his family.
Very sorry to hear this…may he Rest in Blessed Peace.
Best rant ever about the “cliff”….

Rachel Maddow explains what may really be behind the Republican Senators’ objections to Ambassador Susan Rice as a possible Secretary of State; John Kerry’s Senate seat, and the special election that would be held should he be nominated instead of Rice. NBC Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell weigh is.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#49987687
The reason that makes no sense to me is that Kerry has been named as a strong possibility for other positions if he is not named Sec. of St.—-and will likely vacate that seat in any case.
Correct! This is another situation where John McCain hopes this President was like Bush was.
Yup. It all sounds too far fetched.
I will KISS – mccain is just a permanent poutrager and rethugs are using him to distract us into fighting an utterly useless & meaningless battle.
Remember that cia director whashisname & afghan general ‘affairs’ ? Neither do I.
I also think that this explanation detracts from the racial aspect that Richard Wolfe had alluded to last week.

(Reuters) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said on Wednesday that it has temporarily suspended BP Plc and its affiliates from new contracts with the U.S. federal government, citing the oil company’s “lack of business integrity” associated with the disastrous 2010 oil spill.
Excellent.
Stef Cutter is on the Daily Rundown now on MSNBC. Always love watching her smack down Todd’s nonsense.
LONDON — Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, CNN anchor Piers Morgan and the entire British newspaper industry are braced for their very own judgment day.
Thursday will see the publication of a report by a major U.K. inquiry into the phone-hacking scandal. It will likely be one of the most important days in the history of the country’s newspapers.
Early reports suggest that the findings will be “excoriating.” In the language of the British tabloid press, the U.K.’s journalists are set to get “a bloody good kicking.”

As Jodi Kantor would say – Hmmm…….
Or: “Knock-knock, hello Piers!”
DHAKA, Bangladesh — Order books and clothing found at a Bangladeshi factory where a fire killed 112 people show that it was making clothing for Disney Pixar, Wal-Mart, Sears and other Western brands.
[...] Entries in account books in the abandoned factory showed it took orders in recent months to produce clothes for Disney and Sears, despite the factory’s spotty safety record.

Either they are lying or their ‘management skills’ are ‘third world’. So either way, they don’t look good.
They are trying to enter India via backdoors but there a massive opposition building up. Our parliament has been not functioning over our corrupt govt’s move to allow these big players here in a non-transparent manner.
Maybe this tragedy could spur them into blocking the backdoor.
Greed.
Honestly, as a Female, whenever I see in print or spoken by one person or another referring to Lindsey Graham as a woman, I go a little in sane. That is demeaning me, as a female. Lindsey should be attacked by who he is. When Women join in cajoling Lindsey with stereotypical gender nonsense…..we join those who disparage Us as women.
amen. ‘lady’ is not an insult.
Boehner only seems to come alive to govern (snark) just before the President is slated to meet with a group, usually of voters. Governing to GOP seems to be media ops, hostage taking and obstruction, obstruction, obstruction.
Mark Knoller drools over Warren Buffet’s favorite McDonald’s breakfast.
