yeah! now you can relax and enjoy the evening. i went to costco friday, and bought the super-giant costco sized can of starbucks cocoa powder, and i’ve discovered that if you add just a smidge of whiskey to the cocoa, you can have a very pleasant sipping experience. highly recommended for you!
Hey Chips. They never show Pres. Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama attending the Kennedy Center Honors. CBS will air the program at a later date in December.
Had just finished posting this at the bottom of the other thread … so forgive the repeat, but it’s going to be a crucial strategic issue since, by all indications, Boehner & his fellow #KOCHSTERS have no intention of halting their 20Jan2009 #InaugurationInsugency …
Have been thinking a lot about the 113th and the fact that Leader Pelosi has been signaling strongly that she knows plenty of Rs are willing to vote for the tax break for the 98%. Some, if not all those Rs, likely were just re-elected.
We know that House Ds received more than a million votes than Rs in the election and gerrymandering is the reason for the wide disparity in actual representation. Even with gerrymandering, I’m sure more than 18 Rs in the 113th are not suicidal, i.e., they will want to return to the 114th. Their best chance would be to switch early and be strong participants in the D caucus – they’d likely avoid a D primary challenge if they did so.
Thus, the following tweets:
Dear @NancyPelosi if "Operation Rolling Tantrum" bit.ly/YFcyhf is Boehner's strategy, let's get 18+ Rs to switch party pronto in Jan— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) December 02, 2012
Bobfr, the comments from the first commentor says it all…

I think this will end. I think it will end the next time the House pulls the same trick they did last time.
This time it will be curtains for the House members who try it.
I have never seen or read so many comments of so many angry people on places like C-Span or moderate talk programs or the popular blogs or Facebook or comments to news reports on the Internet.
The election has made the point that has not been lost on the great majority of Americans that we need revenue. And more individuals beyond politics are making it clear that they understand.
And they do not want cuts to the social safety network.
People like Boehner and Norquist and McCain and Graham may appear on the Sunday talk shows or other venues to make their case, but the die has already been cast.
The People get it. These guys are toast if the Democrats simply stand up and say: “enough.”
And we have to repeat that message to our representatives so that they understand the consequences in 2014.
The election was a good thing. There is no longer any doubt. It is us against them.
And “us” is 99% of Americans and “them” is a very spoiled and very greedy 1%.
Ted Kennedy said it….when will the greed end?
I think it stops now, this coming year, this next session of Congress.
Rather than spouting off, I think that the Republicans in Congress should be afraid….be very afraid.
Agree fully with the sentiments of the comment, Gail, and thank you for posting it here. (some of the other comments are also accurate).
My point is we need 217 Ds and we need Leader Pelosi as Speaker way before 2014 and we might just be able to find 17 or more Rs who are actually listening to their constituents, know that if they break with Boehner they’ll be facing some crazed teabagger in a 2014 primary, and may decide that by being a really good D caucus member they could get a commitment from Pelosi and the DCCC to support them and not primary them as a D. I would never consider any of this had the results of the election not been so stunning and the obvious intent of Boehner, Cantor, Ryan, Kyl, McConnell, et al to continue their #InaugurationInsurgency.
Strategically, if we could bring pressure on a precise set of 113th Rs – identified for us by the DCCC as high probability flips, then we should bring all 24 Million PBO Tweeps and everyone else, especially Ds in those CDs, to make it happen.
Harder things have been accomplished these past 4+ years – i.e., we elected a black President and re-elected him with margins not seen since Ike, Reagan & FDR
Oh I wholeheartedly agree Bobfr and that’s were our continued OFA grassroots activities can come into play. Phonebanks are being scheduled and you can find one in your (anyone’s) area by going to theaction.org site and putting in a zip code. FORWARD INDEED!
Funny thing about OFA: now the Tea Party is trying to copy what we’re going to do in the off year. The problem is, the Tea Party was thoroughly pummeled last month. A majority of Americans want nothing to do with it. I would wager that at least a plurality of GOPers feels the same way. So they’re going to try and copy OFA, but what they’re selling is garbage that no one wants.
And let me expound on that thought. I have no doubt that the Tea Party will organize and complete its takeover of local GOP committees. The problem for them, again, is that the electorate at large wants nothing to do with them. And OFA isn’t going to allow the Obama coalition to go to sleep between now and 2014. So all that the Tea Party will achieve is to destroy the GOP.
Correct LL, in fact OFA has begun again with weekly email updates, conference calls and phonebanks this past week
“Please join the White House Office of Public Engagement’s White House Update on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11:30AM PST. Below is the dial in information. Please be sure to dial in a few minutes ahead of time.
The call will be an educational call to discuss the fiscal cliff and what you can do to help. For everyone who worked so hard to move our country forward this November, you will hear how you can get involved in your community now to take action. This call is off the record and not for press purposes.” You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups “OFA SoCal NTLs” group. They posted a phone number that I’m hestitant to post.
Yes, Gail. Am receiving similar notices. OFA is not going to sleep!!! Deep lessons learned from 2010 and the interval between 20Jan2009 and Election Day, 2010, for sure.
And, it is very important for everyone to remember a core theme in all of Jim Messina’s post 6 Nov 2012 statements: what mattered beyond everything else was the quality of the candidate – Barack Obama – and the dedication that his core values and his message inspired. Not only does the Tea Party have any such leader, the GOP doesn’t, as well. Until they do, they can mimic us failing to realize that as they mimic our past we will be inventing our future strategies and tools.

oh– well, most of the ideas folks are offering would work for either side of the equation, i guess. anyway, hoping all goes well for her! what an exciting time!

I think the more we we open up and examine the history with courage and open eyes, the better off for all of us. Our possibilities for moving forward are extraordinary. Everybody get their rest and eat their spinach, is what I say. xoxox

The end of the President’s speech was funny and light; wish I’d heard all of it describing the honorees. She will look truly spectaclar in the Kennedy Center tonight!!!
Very sparkly dress. Never got a full view, just a quick glimpse as they were leaving. Loved what President Obama said about each honoree. Also loved what Paul Shaeffer, Letterman band director, said about Dave—-that even tho Dave would not admit it, he is loving every minute of this honor. Can’t wait to see the program when it finally airs. Wish they would air it closer to the time it actually happens, like why not live?
oh that was fun- too short though ~ I wish we could watch the whole show at the Kennedy Center, Live. POTUS was right when he mentioned that we all remember different times in our lives when we were touched by any one of the artists on stage… when I was a mere (stupid) 15 yr old girl, my friend & I hitch-hiked 70 miles to San Francisco to see Led Zepplin.. thousands of us spent the night in the park.. and next day rocked alll day long at Candlestick.
I can’t even imagine my 15 year old niece hitch-hiking, let alone sleeping in a park with thousands of people! Times have surely changed. Or, I’ve just gotten older…
oh me either theo!! I did this 40 YEARS ago I wouldn’t even let my 15 yr old sons do something like that… and by the way my mother STILL doesn’t know I did that .
@TheObamaDiary: The reception can be seen tonight but the Kennedy Center Honors will air 12/26 CBS. WaPo has more info.— Radine (@virtouspooh) December 02, 2012

For those asking: PBO will almost certainly pass 51%, and 66 Million votes. Question is, will he win by 5 Million? @Redistrict— Lompe (@Lompemann) December 02, 2012
I understand an estimated 488,000 votes are still to be counted in CA. About 182,691 of those votes are in the mega LA county. Yes, It’s quite possible that the percentage of the President’s national vote totals will be 51%, or more, of all the votes cast. The question as to whether the President’s margin of victory will be 5 mil or more depends on the votes that may still to be counted in Sandy ravaged NY and NJ. As of today, the President is leading Romney by more than 4.6 million votes. Lets say that again: 4.6 million more Americans voted for President Obama than voted for Romney. To put this in perspective, the President’s margin of victory is greater than the total votes Mitt Romney received in 9 small states he won (Nebraska, Utah, Kansas, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska and Wyoming). Ironically, 14 senators from these small states make up almost 1/3rd of the Republican U.S. Senators who will be filibustering the President’s agenda. Sometimes I shudder when I think about the unfairness of the so called American democracy when Senators from less populated states thwart the will of the vast majority of Americans. Democrats in the House of Representatives received more than one million votes than Republicans. Yet, because of gerrymandering, they ended up with a minority of Representatives.

anybody know how to stream this?
never mind–it’s at white house web site.
Hahahaha! funny Bobfr!
OK Chips hurry and get a picture of that dress. I can’t wait to see it!!!
FLOTUS’s gown is gorgeous. Her inauguration gown is going to be off the charts amazing.
The whole world is waiting to see what FLOTUS will be wearing.
I wish we got a better look at Michelle’s dress. What I could see of it was beautiful. POTUS is looking good as always.

Wow. That sure is a who’s who.
Oh yes, De Niro!
can we watch it live? I’m not seeing it on WH or CBS.
ARGUHHHHHH I missed it!!!! I got a phone call from a friend in Detroit who was at the Lions game and I had to console him and missed POTUS & FLOTUS

I got the “one of these things is not like the other ones” thought when I saw Kid Rock too. How did he weasel in? Party crasher?
I bet the ballerina invited him.
Secret Service should have denied him entry. People that stupid shouldn’t be allowed around President Obama.

I don’t even want Kidd Rock around anyone who spends time around the President…
THANKS dotster3 – photos are awesome…..except I’m still angry with Kidd Rock
