Hope you are cozy and comfy inside while it is snowing outside. I almost wish we had lots of snow today because it was otherwise chilly, damp, dreary and grey all day long.
Obama praises 'extraordinary courage, skill and patriotism' of US troops in rescue of American held by Taliban: apne.ws/RRSN47 -RJJ— The Associated Press (@AP) December 09, 2012
I bet the President gave the order and was involved in the planning.
Our Bobfr had been tweeting and posting last night – well before the media decided to report. The only thing that made them report was the death of one of the special ops members.
Saw this online. Thankful they saved the civilian whose life was in danger but my condolences also goes to the family of the special operations member who was killed. Pres. Obama released a beautiful statement honoring his bravery, service, and sacrifice.
First Family did photo op with four kids dressed as Santa's elves. "Ho, ho, ho," said the president. "You might be the best elves ever."— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) December 09, 2012
So, the President was/is clearly working today again. I wonder if all those losers who complain about his golf games or so-called “vacations” are also working today? And if any of the decisions they’ve made this weekend had life or death consequences?
i think maybe the journalists who follow the president get snarky when he appears on a weekend or evening, because that cuts into their own time off. ‘oh, jeez, he’s playing golf, i guess i have to go see if there’s a photo op, or a slipped quote, just when i was about to watch the game’–that sort of thing. we’d all be better off if they’d just leave him in peace on weekends and evenings and vacations. he’ll definitely call them if there’s something newsworthy he wants them to know!
But, the press pool is on duty. They’re not being taken away from a lazy weekend or a good game – they’re actually doing their jobs (or supposed to be…), so they really have no reason to complain.
This is why I often laugh when teh media and the GOPKKK criticize PBO. He is the ultimate multitasker. He is the greatest president we have or will ever have in the United States. And the picture of the First Family just made me grow a big ole smile on my face. I love them so much
@NancyPelosi Rep Cole says the middle class tax bill would pass if Boehner allowed a vote bit.ly/RRYJdx He must stop harming America.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) December 09, 2012
The Republicans are playing games again. They obviously want the president to put the spending cuts on paper, so they can turn around and attack those same cuts!
This happened during the HCL, you know the Death panels and 716 billion in medicare cuts and during the Debt ceiling debate, you know the trillion in Defense cuts?
I remember playing this game when I was 6 at the Playground, it’s called, Ollie, Ollie in come freeeee!
Miami man pleads guilty in attempt to smuggle 16 birds in his pants from Cuba to U.S., faces up to 20 years: apne.ws/VY3TlU -RJJ— The Associated Press (@AP) December 09, 2012
Thank goodness there is an older and wiser man at the helm for this second go round with congress. Loved his comment that he is not playing that game anymore. I think Boener et al have greatly underestimated his kindness and desire for bipartisanship as weakness. Boener should listen to what Joe Biden says about the president.
Did you sneak in the back door or the window, Ms Chips? I was talking with the guy who is going to do my bathroom repair work over the next little while, so of course you choose those moments to make your appearance. Of course that means I haven’t actually seen you in two whole days!!
Well done first place finishers! It’s good to see so many fit TODers.
Ben invited his mother over for dinner. During the meal, his mother couldn’t help noticing how beautiful Ben’s roommate was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between Ben and his roommate and this only made her more curious.
Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Ben and the roommate than met the eye. Reading his mom’s thoughts, Ben volunteered, “I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Allison and I are just roommates.”
About a week later, Allison came to Ben and said, “Ever since your mother came to dinner, I’ve been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy ladle. “You don’t suppose she took it, do you?”
Ben said, “Well, I doubt it, but I’ll write her a letter just to be sure.”
So he sat down and wrote: “Dear Mother, I’m not saying you ‘did’ take a gravy ladle from my house, and I’m not saying you ‘did not’ take a gravy ladle. But the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.”
Several days later, Ben received a letter from his mother which read:
“Dear Son, I’m not saying that you ‘do’ sleep with Allison, and I’m not saying that you ‘do not’ sleep with Allison. But the fact remains that if she was sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy ladle by now. Love, Mom”
Oh, my. As the mother of a son (whom I’ve long since needed to “check on”), that was a FABULOUS joke. Ha! Struck a couple of chords. However, I will be sending this to him, promptly ~ he now has FOUR DAUGHTERS. Good luck with that, son. Love, Mom
It occurred to me, as I’m watching the Christmas special about the White House decorations, that First Lady Michelle Obama selected this year’s theme of “Joy to All” even before they knew how the election would turn out. They were definitely going to be all right, no matter how the election had turned out. That’s reassuring, somehow. (Of course, I’m glad that the election turned out the right way – which means the rest of us area going to be all right, too!).
that is beautiful–thanks theo. our first family is such a blessing to this country and the world. they are showing us all how to live with integrity, honor, hope, generosity, fearlessness, gentleness, patience, humor, and service. seeing them in the photo with the elves, it’s clear the white house is their home, they belong there, and we are so fortunate!
Late to the party today. I was EXHAUSTED yesterday; worked, went to exercise (have to get my cholesterol under control), ate ma po tofu leftovers and crashed by 8.30. And today I’ve been Mr. Chores.
Don’t have much else to say now. Just counting down the days to my holiday staycation, when you won’t be able to get rid of me.
Wifey and Stewie are out with her best friend and her dog at Costco. (Dogs stay in the car, and it’s cool today.)
I didn’t wake up particularly early yesterday; but it was my first workout in many moons, so it wiped me out. Fell asleep watching the Real Madrid match on BeIN Sport.
So, per doctor, I have to watch my diet AND my drinking. Sighs. Drinking is easier done than the diet. I think I’ve been doing well so far.
Will the world end on Dec. 21? The Mayans seemed to think so, as this interactive graphic shows b.globe.com/XD8eid— The Boston Globe (@BostonGlobe) December 09, 2012
This is the most colorful, most watched First Family that I have ever seen. I love this! I, myself, am quite fascinated with them. Can’t get enough of them.

Back atcha!
Good evening!
Good evening to you!
I bet the President gave the order and was involved in the planning.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I hadn’t heard anything about this. Have been busy decorating the house today.
Our Bobfr had been tweeting and posting last night – well before the media decided to report. The only thing that made them report was the death of one of the special ops members.
“The only thing that made them report was the death of one of the special ops members.” Sadly, so true, hf.
BBC reported it two days back as it broke.
Saw this online. Thankful they saved the civilian whose life was in danger but my condolences also goes to the family of the special operations member who was killed. Pres. Obama released a beautiful statement honoring his bravery, service, and sacrifice.
Chips remember last year we had pictures?

Hopefully we’ll get some later this evening (I hope).
Hopefully Hopefruit!!!
It’s still about hope
Grrrrr. What happened to the snow? We’re about to set a record in Chicago for not having any and the snow plow drivers are whining.
Congratulations to sailor, Dakota and hf on the three way tie

There’s a joke in there about a pecker somewhere
