I envied Sue’s faith. No, no: she didn’t think PBO was Jesus (!), but his election strengthened her belief that the world could be a very, very wonderful place.
Back to normal tomorrow, as Sue would have demanded. Just wanted to celebrate her memory tonight.

Whooooot
You are marvelous and a kind soul Chips.
p.s. The video says private.
Yep…won’t let me view it.
For me too, it says private. I’m sure it is a masterpiece! {{{{{Chipsticks}}}}}

AMEN!
Thanks for these wonderful tributes in Sue’s memory Chips!
New to this community bout wonderful to see the outpouring for a TOD member his is something I think she would enjoy Chris Cornell at an Obama fundrasier in Feb singing ” I will always love you” Whitney Houston right after her death.
Outstanding! First guy I’ve ever heard sing that very difficult song. Beautiful rendition. Thanks tlp!

Dude, you read my mind!

Miss Mahalia is right on time. LURRRRRV her, not just for her glorious singing…. she looks like my dear departed grandma.
She was a Chicago woman and lived in my ‘hood when she made her transition.
Beautiful Yard, just beautiful…
Let there be peace!
Yes, Lawd.
Oh Yardarm! This is absolutely fabulous and so relevant to this day of both our grieving and celebrating the life of our beloved Sue. Mahalia Jackson was one of those singers who could definitely make you experience the power and depth of human spirituality. Thanks you for sharing this and making it part of TOD’s tribute to Sue.
Mahalia Jackson one of the greatest gospel singer ever.
For Sue, for Jodi, and for us.
They’d love this as do I! Thanks LL!
Another great song, by a great soul, in memory and tribute two great souls. Thanks LL!
Where is my FUCK YES button to love this post?
Awwww. Wonderful video Chipsticks. You have created a very special place. Sue was surely looking down on election day and smiling.
God bless TOD and goodnight.

Let the Church say Amen!
Amen!
Amen!

Thank you so much everybody for the lovely tributes to Sue. I wept a little, both for Sue and Jodi, and all I’ve loss this year. The biggest loss is of my parents. Though it’s always comforting to remember them. I’ve been so touched by the poems, and the lovely little words of wisdom and truth, to say nothing of the music. Yes I will think of Sue and Jodi and so many others on that fine innaugaration day next month. God willing. Amen. Take care everybody and thank you again Chips and Chi.
{{{elo4obama/biden}}}
aloha to you elo 4 obamabiden~
i’m also feeling the loss of my mother, who passed not 2 months ago. so sorry you had to lose both parents in the same year. each is its own grief, its own deep connection broken. the beautiful tributes here i have also taken in as reminders that we’re all so important to each other, to the world, to the work we do. as we celebrate our awesome president, we are celebrating each and every beating heart who worked for him and all he stands for.
mahalo nui~
{{{susanne}}} I can’t even imagine losing either of my parents.
So sorry for your loss elo4obama/biden. Outstretched arms are enfolding you and your family now with love and peace. Bless you.
So sorry for your loss, elo4. It’s devastating to lose both your parents in one year. My heart goes out to you.
elo, I am so sad for your losses, there are no words that will take away the pain but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that your beloved parents are close by you whenever you think of them. God bless and comfort you and all here who have lost loved ones. ((((((((hugs)))))))))
Looks like some church up in here!
Looks like you’re trapped in YouTube with me, Yardarm! Glad for the company!
I love that song, by Marvin Sapp, Never would have made it.
I doubt I knew of Sue – but you all are passing on wonderful memories and stories – this is the hymn I would like to share –
Beautiful. My daddy use to have me play “Abide With Me” over and over on the piano when I was little. It was our bounding time and I never got tired of it. Bless you Daddy—long gone but still watching over me.
Okay, I’m gonna have to leave the rest of the tweetin’ to someone else. I love you all so much. Thanks again to Chips for allowing us this place to celebrate and grieve for Sue and Jodi and all of those dear departed members of our immediate and extended families. Be well, be comforted, and know you are loved.
Goodnight everyone!
Peace be with you 9t9. I leave you with this from my church choir
.
yardarm, this is just amazing! what a wonderful church! the music is extraordinary, and everyone is feeling it so much.
Goodnight Dudette. You are a wonderful soul! You bring so much love and joy to this space.
good night dudette! sleep and dream of the loving arms that hold us all in peace.
Does my heart good to see such a beautiful outpouring of love from everyone here paying tribute to a dear TOD family member; gone but never forgotten. Condolences to her friends and loved ones both here and in the “real world” Thank you Miz Chips for creating a place to celebrate Sue’s life. You are a wonderful and generous soul…..
Peace always to Sue……
“Death is nothing at all. I have slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed, at the little joke we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect, without trace of shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant, it tis the same as it ever was, there is an unbroken continuity. What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.” Canon Henry Scott Holland
Thank you for that, Purple Shoes. It’s beautiful.
Wow. Saving that quote. Thank you.
You are EXCEPTIONAL, Chips.
#FORWARD
Good night friends …
Bob, a wonderful idea to share this with the Obama team. They need to see how much people love them and are inspired by them. And it’s such a great way to honor Sue.
Dear Chipsticks, Thank you so much for dedicating this day to Sue and for your fabulous tribute to her. Your love and caring shines through everything you do. Thank you also for attracting some of the most humane and loving people who totally complement all that you do. The news of Sue’s passing caught many of us by surprise. But, she was always an optimistic person; it’s therefore fitting that you chose to celebrate her life and all that she stood for. Thanks also to all the TOD members who are sharing powerful music and words of love and inspiration to help all of us remember Sue.
amen, nathan. the tribute video is just beautiful, chips. i know sue is smiling up in heaven.
Thank you Chips and everyone that has shared your memories and special tributes to our treasure, Sue in Minnesota. I remember her being so sweet, her quick wit, and strength. Thanks to so many that recalled some of her past postings and the outpouring from our community just like now. May our sweet, precious Sue rest in peace and I thank God for allowing one of his angels to live among us.
Such a love tribute for Sue. She will not be forgotten. May she rest in peace this sweet lady.
Thank you Chips and the TOD family for the wonderful video and music. It felt like a Homegoing.
“Oh Happy Day” one line that sticks out to me is when the singer says when I get to heaven, I’m going to sing and shout. Whenever you guys get sad just imagining Sue singing and shouting.
Just think of Sue up in Heaven singing and shouting.
our brave senator inouye needs our prayers now:
‘ Sen. Daniel Inouye remains under observation in a Washington-area hospital.
The senator’s office said Tuesday that the situation remains unchanged from Monday. Doctors are monitoring the 88-year-old Hawaii Democrat’s intake of oxygen and trying to regulate it.
Inouye, a decorated World War II veteran, has long been a dominant force in Hawaii politics. He chairs the powerful Appropriations Committee and is the Senate’s president pro tempore, third in the presidential line of succession.
He is the country’s longest serving senator, now completing his 50th year in the chamber. ‘
i know we all recognize and applaud the combat veterans in congress, but his service was extraordinary:
‘ On April 21, 1945, Inouye was grievously wounded while leading an assault on a heavily-defended ridge near San Terenzo in Tuscany, Italy called Colle Musatello. The ridge served as a strongpoint along the strip of German fortifications known as the Gothic Line, which represented the last and most dogged line of German defensive works in Italy. As he led his platoon in a flanking maneuver, three German machine guns opened fire from covered positions just 40 yards away, pinning his men to the ground. Inouye stood up to attack and was shot in the stomach; ignoring his wound, he proceeded to attack and destroy the first machine gun nest with hand grenades and fire from his Thompson submachine gun. After being informed of the severity of his wound by his platoon sergeant, he refused treatment and rallied his men for an attack on the second machine gun position, which he also successfully destroyed before collapsing from blood loss.
As his squad distracted the third machine gunner, Inouye crawled toward the final bunker, eventually drawing within 10 yards. As he raised himself up and cocked his arm to throw his last grenade into the fighting position, a German inside fired a rifle grenade that struck him on the right elbow, severing most of his arm and leaving his own primed grenade reflexively “clenched in a fist that suddenly didn’t belong to me anymore”. Inouye’s horrified soldiers moved to his aid, but he shouted for them to keep back out of fear his severed fist would involuntarily relax and drop the grenade. As the German inside the bunker reloaded his rifle, Inouye pried the live grenade from his useless right hand and transferred it to his left. As the German aimed his rifle to finish him off, Inouye tossed the grenade off-hand into the bunker and destroyed it. He stumbled to his feet and continued forward, silencing the last German resistance with a one-handed burst from his Thompson before being wounded in the leg and tumbling unconscious to the bottom of the ridge. When he awoke to see the concerned men of his platoon hovering over him, his only comment before being carried away was to gruffly order them to return to their positions, since, as he pointed out, “nobody called off the war!” ‘
My thoughts and prayers go to the senator’s quick recovery.
Wow. No words to explain how I feel. Just Years rolling down my face.
My sympathy to Sue’s and Jodi’s families, respectively.
My sympathy to Elo, the loss of one’s parents are hard.
Nothing shows love more than caring unconditionally. Chips you have done it so well. Thank you so very much.
my deep condolences to the families on their great loos
Beautiful tribute, Chips! You really are a star – thank you for creating this home for us. RIP sweet Sue!
Beautiful tirbute…MsChipssss…
Simply Beautiful…
Each of us can only hope that when we die…that we will be thought of as kindly…and in such a loving way….
Have a great day everyone…Ms Chips…once again…such a beautiful and loving tribute…..
Hello prettfoot58. It’s nice to hear from you
. I miss your DAILY comments, but understand life get’s in the way of our real work- this president and moving this country FORWARD. Forward we must go, have a great day.
ty elo…often times i come here and absorb the vibe and info without commenting.and then there are others who say what i want to say in a better way…hahaha…you have a wonderful day as well…and again ty for your kind comments
Another beautiful, stunning page for Sue. I always looked forward to her posts. They were filled with intelligence and warmth and fierceness. I know she knew she was loved here. I wish the deepest and highest peace for her.
Thanks for all the incredibly moving music, the spirit of love and the constant reminder of the great well of compassion possessed by those who love and support our President. Thank you, Chips.
Thanks Chips for finding out what had happened to Sue. I guess, I was hoping this wasn’t what we would hear. I liked her posts and comments, she was a preally compassionate person and loved her comments. She has been missed. I couldn’t post yesterday, I kind of had to digest what you told us and crying too much. Still am in fact. I am not a great writer and is hard to put into words the feelings that I am going through. My prayers go out to her family and friends and let them know(if they read this post) how wonderful a Lady she was. Your triubte to Sue was just awesome. ((((((hugs to you all on TOD))))).
Chips, this loving tribute is perfect. It’s about hope and joy and a promise of better times, which is what Sue was about and believed in. She never whined or showed the slightest self-pity, though she must have been terrified about her illness. .She was always focused on moving forward, doing more, making a difference. I think we should all take a moment on inauguration day, perhaps just after the oath taking, to think of Sue and salute her life and her love of the president. And then we have to keep fighting to help PBO, just as she would want us to. Rather than have her loss diminish us, let’s all vow to let it make us stronger and more determined than ever to make her hard work pay off and all her hopes come true in the next four years.
Excellent idea, Jackie. I’ll certainly do that.
((((hugs to you Roberta in MN))) I was just thinking about how fierce Sue in Minnesota was about writing to her reps and doing everything she could to support his re-election and our political agenda. I will take a page from her book. She never got to vote for PBO this year, but she put sooooo much energy into her support earlier. Her efforts were not wasted.
I’ve been saving my sanity by watching far less of the msnbc punditry, but keeping abreast of thins by looking at the state and WH press briefings and interviews by the president. I’m thinking of tweeting, just so I can share my list with OFA, action.org. We really need to change the conversation with the media. I figure as painful as it is, maybe Michigan and the assault on labor will further open some eyes. I swear these folks will not be satisfied until we are a third world labor force, with no rights, not even a minimum wage.
Bye the way…good morning everybody
Dear Roberta, Ms Chips, and everyone, thanks for all of your beautiful words, tributes, and fantastic music for Sue (and Jodi). I feel as though we have been privileged to attend a wonderful, uplifting Irish Wake for someone who was much loved and appreciated. I hope that wherever she is, Sue can feel the outpouring of love from all of us, in remembering and celebrating her Life.
I read last night about Sue. I am so sorry to hear about her passing. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
Good morning, elo4obama/biden! I get most of my information right here, it tends to NOT make my blood boil!
Ms Chips, your beautiful video tribute for Sue made the tears stream, thanks so much for that.
Thanks Dudette, Yardarm, and everyone else for doing such a fabulous job of honoring Sue’s memory. What a beautiful thread!!
A beautiful tribute Chips. Thank you.
I am sure that Sue is feeling the love pouring from the TOD family.
May she rest in eternal peace.
Morning everyone:

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO CELEBRATE SUE’S PASSING….MAY GOD DEEPLY BLESS AND COMFORT HER FAMILY…FOR SHE IS DANCING WITH JESUS AND RESTING IN HIS LOVING ARMS!
OMG, Chips, what a beautiful tribute to Sue. This entire post is incredible. Lots of tears here. So much tenderness for a beautiful soul who has said Goodby. No doubt, Sue is smiling and feeling the warmth. You and everyone here have made an impact on me. The video is nothing short of AMAZING. My Best Wishes to Sue’s family for their loss.
When Sue shared the reason for her writing in block letterss I said to myself, “this is one strong woman.” She never let on about her sickness, just prodded along, writing so brilliantly about the news of the day and her wise opinions.
As someone who is going through my own health challanges I drew strength from her.
May she rest in peace and I know that she knows that our President was re-elected.
She has joined the rest of his heavenly guardiians and on Martin Luther King day she will be right up there with the rest of them smiling down with pride as the President takes another vote of office.
May the heavens of all open up with this beautiful tribute for our lovely Sue. I am sure that her spirit was in this place last evening, and it was a sweet, sweet spirit of love, grace, beauty, and faith.
Chips, thank you for your loving brillant mind. You give us so much to feast upon daily, and Sue would be the first to tell you that. You have done her proud tonight and foever more from this loving family, TOD.
I remember Sue for her strong spirit and willing heart to give back to others. She was a force to appreicate, love, and listen to in her support for our beautiful president. We thank her through this beautiful tribute that Chips has given all of us to contribute. The angels all around Sue are singing in their glorious voices of thankfulness on Sue’s arrival from her faithful work here on this earth.
The beautiful selections of songs are just so special and lovely. Thanks to all who chose such a beautiful collection. Surely we have had a lovely, elegant, and spirit of goodness moving through this beautiful site that speaks volumes of love, faith, and a strong example of what our POTUS lives before us each day of his life as our 44th President. Sue worked so faithfully to make him that as well. We thank her so much, and in each selection of musical tribute, Sue’s life is an example of that strong, daily work that she shared with us on this beautiful site.
May Sue rest in peace, may Jodi rest in peace, and may we all continue to live with love, joy, and grace for each moment that we are so blessed to see. Thank you all for your love and tribute to our Sue.HZ
I’m late to the news of Sue’s passing. I’ve been lurking in and out since the early day TOD and Sue from Minnesota because of her positive spirit was a person you wouldn’t forget.
Thank You Chips for allowing us the space to pay our respects!!
Sorry I missed this last night because I ‘ran away’ early after reading the news and missed it again earlier until someone made reference to it in ‘Rise ‘n Shine. What a good way to remember Sue in Min! Thanks everyone for sharing thoughts, memories, song, words of poetry. I usually keep pain inside and not talk about it because I contain it better that way, but TOD shows me here that grief shared does seem to be ‘easier’ to bear.
May the beautiful Sue rest in peace!!! She will be sorely missed!!!
I’m still very new here and didn’t know Sue, but there is such a strong sense of what an amazing person she was here in the conversation. I’m certain now, PBO has yet another angel to watch over him. Off to find the tissues…
Sue was a fiece Obama fighter. Rest in peace knowing that you fought the good fight and left your country in good hands. Reach out to people during the holidays. It can be a tough and lonely time for some.
I am very late to the conversation (again) and am so desperately sad to hear the news of Sue’s passing, she will be missed greatly. God keep Sue in his eternal peace.
