Desertflower. here’s another one for the music teacher at your school. I have listened to this a zillion times.. Apparently. it’s from a TV show (Studio 60) that was cancelled.

I have no idea what the TV show was about, but this version of ‘O Holy Night” by Trombone Shorty (yes, that’s him on the trumpet  ) and other musicians from New Orleans is just ridiculously good!! In high school, we had a brass choir, and while I’m pretty sure none of had THIS kind of talent, it certainly would have been fun to try it…

As expected David Gregory let Wayne LaPierre dominate the interview. LaPierre simply repeated the talking points from his “press conference” on Friday, and Gregory did little to challenge him.

HI Df, your comment reminded me that yesterday on twitter Gregory was trying to solicit help by asking people to send in questions, so maybe he does realize he’s inadequate as an interviewer? Of course, my take then was that he was just trying to drum up eyes and that he should do the job for which he was paid. I like your assessment today.

Don’t let him get under your skin. Jason @ the HuffPo skewers him so much. He’s writes the Sunday “Eat The Press” usually, but probably not today, because of Holiday. Too bad, he’s hilarious. Bill Maher put up a video on his blog on R’s yesterday, if anyone cares.

    • December 23, 2012 at 10:00 am

A Beautiful Greeting on this lovely Sun. morning to our Chips and all of our TOD Family. The photo of our president is lovely. His smile will always remind me of the goodness that flows from his lips as he speaks and the compassion that moves within his being.

May this day be one to enjoy your families and friends near and far. Give someone a beautiful smile, hug, call, text, email, with a word of encouragement today. We are so blessed here on this site, and I will never take it for granted, but rather enjoy the friendships that we all have made here. Love to Fred and Jackie and her sister.

Greet your day with the choice of your words, actions, and meditations and prayers. Have a beautiful day TOD Family. ((((((((((( Pray for our President))))))))))))). We love you and support you, Mr. President.

      • 82 theo67
        December 23, 2012 at 10:57 am

People walk away from these shows thinking the fiscal cliff is only about the Bush Tax Cuts, and they remain completely uninformed about all the other stuff that is in jeopardy, the potential impact to the economy, the fact that if we can’t get a deal now – that the likelihood of being able to pass a deal AFTER we go over the cliff is just as unlikely, and that there is a debt ceiling game involved in all of this that the GOP want to play, but the President has already warned them that he’s not planning to join in. They also have no idea that the US economy is the only “stable” economy in the world right now (along with Canada), and that if the economy goes back into the ditch, there may not be a way out of it this time. They clearly don’t understand how much work the President did to pull the economy out of the ditch, and they think it would be so simple to fix it once it slips back in. But all the tools for recovering an economy have been used up – and the whole world is on the brink.

It’s so irresponsible for these pundits to just say “go over the cliff” without thinking about the poor and elderly, the hungry kids, the people who are just putting their lives back together after the last crisis…

But, theo67, the pundits are only looking for “the catchy phrase.” Their job is just to name things, catchily, as they go by on the parade float, dontcha know.

I used to get all worked up about their influence, but ever since President Obama was re-elected, in the face of all their outright GOP shilling, I am no longer worried about that. The American people saw right through them and any power they might have is in their own head. The MSM is no longer trusted and that is on their head.

KABUL, Afghanistan — After years of deriding Afghanistan’s government and army as corrupt tools of Western occupiers, the Taliban have begun publicly airing a softer vision for the country’s future, with senior insurgent leaders saying the militants are willing to govern alongside other Afghan factions and even to adopt the current American-financed army as their own.

Just enjoyed my 1st gift. My 11 yr. old granddaughter sent a CD she made for us of her playing xmas songs on the viola—–not as excruciating as it sounds, quite lovely in fact. She’s talented, if I do say so myself. The cover was a photo of her adorable self with her viola, first recording was her solo with her orchestra, the others solo performances. So sweet of her to do that for us. I am now in the spirit. Just in time—first bit of fam arrives today. And I am sore all over because I procrastinated on everything and had to do everything in about 1 day, including cleaning every nook and long neglected cranny, even tho I made everyone promise not to look under anything or behind anything.

    • 96 theo67

Sounds delightful – and like you’ve got a lot to be proud of with your granddaughter. How lovely! Make sure you make time to enjoy the time with your family, and rest your achy bones. The only person who probably will notice any forgotten nook or cranny will be you… Everyone else will be impressed with how lovely your home looks – and be too busy enjoying themselves to care about anything else! :)

Have a great time with the family when they do arrive, and like Theo says, you’re the only one who will even give nooks and crannies a thought (well, maybe the young grand kids who want to play hide and seek will).

Here is an excellent article about the chained CPI issue. It is a bit aggressive in tone but it’s not aimed at the people who receive SSI and are concerned for their income; it’s aimed at the radical left who are stirring up trouble with misinformation about this issue.

When I heard Nancy Pelosi say that she was not concern about the President including CPI in his offer, she said that they still could get the votes from the Democratic side, then I was not all that concern about this CPI issue. I feel like it is the radical left trying to cause trouble.

Good morning, Lorraine. I think it happens in Feb, and that in the Inauguration years they don’t actually call it a SOTU for the new President, but since President Obama has been at the helm for four years, he’ll deliver a State of the Union. I could be wrong – this is just my two cents.

I know – who’s still printing stories about Romney? Let him go. I’m not even tempted to read the article. We’re bound to start seeing the failed Romney campaign staff appearing as “experts” on all the shows, like we keep seeing the failed Bush Administration come on every show to comment on President Obama’s decisions, as though the Bush Administration didn’t completely destroy this country and its reputation around the world – and leave many dead, many more locked up ion Gitmo with no hope, and two wars raging with no end in sight. Why would anyone want to hear from these failures?

The News likes to put the onus back on the President- he must get a big deal, he mist help Boner out, he can’t go 2 months extension for the next two years or his agenda is doomed.
But, that’s the Republicans plan, to slow wall these negotiations, get 2 month extensions and keep muddying the waters. That way, nothing else gets done.

They always invite us to all their parties when young folks are around. I have such high hopes when I am around these young people. I do believe the next generation is in good hands. One of the young men there last night has a job in the State Department starting 1/1. He speaks Chinese and believe in service and the government. We had a great conversation. He loves this President and he belives that Senator Kerry will be a great SOS. I feel such hope and love when I am with these kids.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all here. Our beloved Chips, again thank you for this beautiful place.

Now off to clean house to get ready for company. I still have many gifts to wrap.

So glad you had a wonderful time last night, mtmarilyn – I was thinking of you with all those youngsters last night. Your son is smart to have you and your husband socialize with his friends – it’s important to keep the wisdom of the prior generation flowing to the next, and he clearly thinks your friends deserve the benefit of your company, as well! I love taking my parents to visit friends with me – it’s always entertaining, because they have great stories.

Thank you Theo. I have always thought I have a very smart son. It is so important to have intergenerational interaction. We must keep the knowledge flowing.

Theo67, thank you for all you do at this site!!!!! I so appreciate you input. Have a wonderful day!

Candy Crowley calls out idiot NRA program director who refuses to answer anything about gun control. ” is the wrong debate to have if you want to talk about protecting our children.” This whole push to put armed security guards in schools is vile, despicable, self-serving. They disgust me!

By the way, they must have used that shill (Lutz??) to tell them to use the words “school safety” over and over again.

I am so sick and tired of the gun nuts using the Timonthy McVeigh card. There are many, many violent crimes all across the country every day that have nothing to do with guns. That means nothing in the gun control debate at all. Good for Candy. Before you know it, we’ll be living in the old west again.

Good morning all. I am thrilled to have two of my three kids home for Christmas. My sister comes tonight from Canada, so we will have a full house. My tree is not decorated yet, but the kids say they will do it. I feel very behind this year and am trying not to stress out.

Usually when you’re stressed about this kind of stuff, you’re the only one who knows you didn’t meet your own self-imposed deadlines. Everyone else thinks everything is exactly the way you intended! It’s more fun to trim the tree together, anyway… Have fun!

I’m not sure if this group has been mentioned here, since Sandy Hook, but it’s new to me.

Watched a bit of Alex Witt’s show on MSNBC, earlier. In just a short interview, Shannon Watts, who’s the founder of “One Million Moms for Gun Control,” which is about seven days old, spoke succinctly and clearly on the NRA presence right now on the national scene. She asked something like why would we question the head of an organization, who’s working toward the proliferation of guns throughout America, for his suggestions on how to protect our children and control how we allow so many guns to get in the wrong hands. She also made reference to the fact that we don’t need a military presence on our streets or in our schools (this isn’t a third-world country), and we don’t need to arm teachers, and kids don’t need “bulletproof backpacks.” (That last part really got me.)

Anyway, I think her organization is only a week old, but she has a website and FB page up and a Twitter account, and maybe we (Moms and Dads) could help get this info out there, instead of wondering individually how to reinvent the wheel of progress on this topic.

I love to see of PBO in his younger days, with his short afro. What a handsome young man he was!

It’s apparent the Republicans are using trial balloons of nominees to oppose any selection.
Easy solution! STOP leaking potential nominees.

I just found out Joan Walsh blocked me on twitter because I challenged her stance against PBO treating her like the enemy, :D

    Good west coast morning everyone!

Well, I feel scads better. Fever’s gone, body aches are gone, vomiting is gone, and I’m not camping out in the bathroom. Taking it easy today. Not how I wanted to being my Xmas staycation, but it could’ve been worse.

Oh, and: Chelsea 8 : 0 Aston Villa
Oh, and: Swansea 1 : 1 Manchester United

    Just sayin.
