Thanks Dudette. TJ Holmes is still there on MSNBC in for Alex the Twitt. You never did answer my question from the last thread. How about it now? My mind is soooooo restless for the answers.
Yardarm , thanks for the memories….my Mother and Aunts used to have this man playing on Saturdays and dancing and whatnot….they used to go whereever to see him and BB :O) Good memories
Hand to the sky, I thought seriously about applying to college in L.A. so I could be close enough to dance on Soul Train. Damned out-of-state tuition kept me from my dream!
The Led Zeppelin tribute was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It was fun to see Dave Grohl get back to drums and Taylor Hawkins sing. Lenny Kravitz tore the roof down and Heart gave the BEST rendition/cover of Stairway to Heaven I have ever heard accompanied by the genius John Bonham’s son, Jason Bonham on drums. They all performed from the soul. I hope I’m alive when The Foo Fighters and Lenny Kravitz get their Kennedy Center Honors because it will be a fantastic day indeed.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this…I LOVE the Kennedy Center Honors and blast it if I don’t miss it every year it’s on…I went to their website, and they’ve got clips, but I’m hoping for a DVD of past shows…The Heart rendition of Stairway to Heaven — especially with the strings and choir, Nancy Wilson’s rendition of that legendary accoustic intro and then Ann Wilson’s still amazing power vocals, was a sight to behold. And to see John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page so emotionally moved was absolutely incredible.

Meh, don’t know about that. He’s a weasel of the highest order. But I respect what his organization “No Labels” is trying to do, so no blockage – for now.
Somehow though he still manages to fool some self-proclaimed ‘liberals/progressives’ and their friends – though I’d venture to add that these folks do know the truth but willfully go along for whatever reason…
Barely hidden behind his incredibly corrupt, corporate greed driven and sponsored ‘No Labels’ shenanigans with PUMA’s like Kiki McLean etc…
They thought they could strip support from President Obama, but they failed woefully…
I get such a thrill just thinking of all these people – Democrats and republicans alike – who did everything in their power to defeat President Obama, to deny him a second term …and how they all failed woefully…
No Labels Third Way defunct DLC—— All corporate funded DINOs. (including Koch $$$, Yes, that Koch) I don’t think any of them have PBO or the vast majority of our country in mind.
No doubt these are some of the same folks demanding that OFA turn over their mailing list.
I predict a long and fruitless wait for Marc MacKinnon, et al.
“I get such a thrill just thinking of all these people – Democrats and republicans alike – who did everything in their power to defeat President Obama, to deny him a second term …and how they all failed woefully…”
“This task of gratitude to our fathers, justice to ourselves, duty to posterity, and love for our species in general, all imperatively require us faithfully to perform.
How then shall we perform it?–At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it?– Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!–All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.
I hope I am over wary; but if I am not, there is, even now, something of ill-omen, amongst us. I mean the increasing disregard for law which pervades the country; the growing disposition to substitute the wild and furious passions, in lieu of the sober judgment of Courts; and the worse than savage mobs, for the executive ministers of justice. This disposition is awfully fearful in any community; and that it now exists in ours, though grating to our feelings to admit, it would be a violation of truth, and an insult to our intelligence, to deny. Accounts of outrages committed by mobs, form the every-day news of the times. They have pervaded the country, from New England to Louisiana;–they are neither peculiar to the eternal snows of the former, nor the burning suns of the latter;–they are not the creature of climate– neither are they confined to the slave-holding, or the non-slave- holding States. Alike, they spring up among the pleasure hunting masters of Southern slaves, and the order loving citizens of the land of steady habits.–Whatever, then, their cause may be, it is common to the whole country.”

Bravo Chipsticks. Bravo! Thank you thank you thank you so much for beginning the video with such a beautiful tribute to Trayvon Martin and with the wonderful words and sounds of R.E.M.
Another innocent life, Jordan Davis also fell at the hands of the Stand your Ground Laws. The laws are an abomination in our society as they give the worst in society the opportunity and excuse to target a certain group of human beings who don’t deserve such horror visited upon them.
Thank you again for the tribute. You, my friend, are some kind of special.
Vc, you are so beautiful. Your words of expression:”Chips, you thrill our hearts and feed our souls.” That is the beauty of our Chips indeed. Thank you.HZ
First, thanks so much for showing me the error of my tired eyes and brains. (((((((((( I love you so )))))))
Second, I will double my thanks to Dudette. “You are so, so, beautiful, my dear one.” When the body aches, the eyes playing tricks on me, and the brain is trying to get everything goings in this particular 68 yr. old body and mind, it is quite a task. ((((((((((((((( Lots of love to you Dudette)))))))))))))))), my precious one who gives me my musical requests. Forgive me? Love you lots, both of you.HZ
Jan 2012 Vid collections? Then Feb 2012. March 2012? Hmmmmm? April, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, and then Dec 2012? Oh mine, I can’t wait. Oh Bo Obama was just thinking out loud. Priceless.
Love these trips down memory lane. I am trying an action with my old OFA team and could use your help. We are tweeting to @davidgregory before Meet The Press to treat President Obama with respect and to shine a light on Republican obstruction. Tomorrow, those of us who can get there will be live-tweeting MTP from a coffee shop in Portland, OR. We hope many others will tweet from home to have President Obama’s back and let David Gregory know we won’t accept regurgitation of Republican talking points.
We are working on tweet templates and appropriate hashtags from TheAction that get the message across. I’m not sure how to re-post my tweets here
@FardigJudith
@davidgregory Voters want compromise. Republicans, stop obstructing or be held responsible for tax hike on all! #don’tdroptheball #DoYourJob
The question is…do the constinuency of the TP/GOP Congressman want compromise…i think not…their goal is to BRING DOWN our Governrnent…that is what they seek to do….
they do not care that they lost the election…our votes do not matter to them because we do not matter to them…because we are not TRUE Americans….in their eyesight..just moochers….always with our hands out!
and that is the delemna that PBO faces…that we all face….the consequences of the 2010 election continue to haunt us…the state GOP gerrymandered their districts….it will be difficult to vote them out….difficult but not impossible/
we need a plan to regain our states…it might just start with the governships which is statewide and not dependent on districts…like here in PA…Corbett is up for re-election…we have that voter ID law going into effect with the first primary of 2013…ooooooo WEEEE…
For those TOD folks here from PA…has anyone heard of a viable candidate to challenge Corbett…i have noticed Mayor Nutter getting more and more airtime on MSNBC/not sure what that means/do you think that he could be a viable challenge for Corbett….

Good Day Everyone….
Just Wow!! Chips you truly are an inspiration to all of us…..My Goodness..I can’t help it..I am tearing up all over again…Trayvon’s tribute just choked me up…Much Love!
Very troubling and upsetting—-the parents of a 6 yr. old survivor of the Ct. school massacre have hired a lawyer who is “seeking permission” (legal maneuver) from the state of Ct. to sue the state for $100 million for failing to keep the students safe and for the harm caused their child from listening to the horror as it unfolded over intercom. This seems like a new low to me.
so you can imagine the lawsuits that will bloom when teachers are armed and kids get caught, injured or killed in crossfire. Who’s gonna pay for that? Cut education budgets to pay off lawsuits? Yeah welcome to bizarre America
Money hungry. So damn pathetic. I can only imagine how much Noah Pozner’s mother would give up or pay to see her son laugh again or what Emilie Parker’s father would do to see her smile and teach her to drive or walk her down the aisle at her wedding. What that parent is doing is nauseauting and just goes to show how some people will never get it.
It is always “the govinmint” that gets sued because those suing assume that is the corporation with the money – no sense in suing the gunman – his family has no money. People sure know how to lose the sympathy and support from the 98%.
If the GOP has its way the government won’t have any money either – and if every parent in the school sues – the state will be bankrupt. I find it sad and shortsighted – but money seems to rule all in some worlds.
Setting aside the superfluous and inaccurate both-sides-do-it-equally coda of that statement, the truth of his argument has never been more clear. The Republicans have painted themselves into a box. We are at the point, now, that the Speaker of the House does not have the ability to bring his caucus along to make any compromises on the budget. And the simplest explanation for this is that bullshit is responsible. The Republicans have fed their base so much bullshit that they’ve crippled themselves. They are now literally buried in their own bullshit. Bullshit about taxes and revenues, bullshit about climate change and the environment, bullshit about guns and ammunition, bullshit about socialism, bullshit about the character of the president, bullshit about immigration and terrorism.
Congressional leaders and senior aides huddled on Saturday in a last-minute attempt to iron out a resolution in the so-called “fiscal cliff” crisis. But a deal — at least for the time being — seemed far from certain.
One sticking point in the talks continues to be on taxes, according to aides. President Obama has reiterated that tax cuts should extend to the middle class, asking top earners to pay more in taxes. But Republicans have insisted that tax cuts be extended for all taxpayers.
Desertflower, thanks for always sharing such wonderful news and inspiration. Your informational capacity is a sweet fragrance to the mind. Thanks my dear precious friend.((((((( DF))))))HZ
G’day y’all! About to Skype with the family gathering in DC, then I’ll be back to

It was a hoot! They had a beautiful meal spread out, then they did the Secret Santa gig, I was laughing out loud! Almost as good as being there! Everyone looking well in their new sweaters!
Here is the first Knoller tweet that is likely to give ideas to a certain section of the TOD populace.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “You’re a hottie with a smokin' little body.” Duff's customer Luann Haley, 45, to Pres. Obama. He gave her a big hug.— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) May 13, 2010
THAT we can agree on, Utal! Knoller rarely seems to hit on meaningful topics worthy of a ‘real’ reporter, or if he does it is a one-hit. I still can’t figure out on what criteria he got to his current position – not that I care enough to look deeply. IMO Knoller takes the word ‘reporter’ quite literally – tell what you see or hear, period.
Now Susanne, you know I didn’t check Knoller’s TL so who knows if the food report was already on line and he had extra space to fill. This one caught my eye because Luann’s comment reminded me of some of my TOD siblings. A-hem.
Just shows how much I pay careful attention to Mark, etc. Thanks for the clarification, Hf, tho truly, what caught my eye was the TOD-ness I saw in the comment and PBO’s response.
Not to worry VC – I almost missed the date as well and was going to send Knoller a nasty reply when I couldn’t find the tweet in his recent TL. When I checked back I saw that it was retweeted from two years ago. LOL!
i had been scratching my head about how the president’s fiscal cliff deal works–couldn’t see how passing the ball to reid would help. we already knew the senate would work with the president. here’s smartypants’ ultra-smart explanation:
‘ By passing the responsibility to the Senate, Boehner has handed things off to the chamber where Democrats control what comes to the floor. If McConnell doesn’t come up with something Reid agrees with, what will be presented is the President’s smaller package including an extension of the tax cuts only on incomes under $250,000 and things like an extension of unemployment insurance.
That’s test one for McConnell. Test two is whether or not he will filibuster said bill. If he does, he not only takes the blame for falling off the cliff, he is basically ASKING for filibuster reform in the next Congress. If he doesn’t, he inspires the ire of the tea bagger wing of his party.
If a bill gets through the Senate, the next test is for Boehner. Either he brings it to the floor to see if a bipartisan group of Representatives pass it – or he holds it up and becomes responsible for falling off the cliff. If he allows the bill to pass, he too will face the wrath of the tea baggers. ‘
You’re right, Susanne, this is an excellent summary of what it means and why. It’s masterful positioning by the president. If it works, great. If it doesn’t, then the whole thing is set up to be the Republican’s fault and PBO won’t be shy about placing the blame. Yet there are still people all over the internet predicting a cave-in. So many fools, sniveling away at their computers, thinking they know better than the smartest man in the room.
They are truly “dumb asses,” Yardarm. They need to go back to school to learn how a bill becomes a law. More importantly, they need to be educated about the American system of government which is based on divided power among the three branches of government: the Legislature (Congress), the Executive (President) and the Judicially. I get so irritated with people who reject any compromises, but are full of admiration of the “Founding Fathers” who, in order to form the United States, compromised over the evil system of slavery.
First, Wolfeeeee guest hosts for Chris on Hard ball, now TJ Holmes was in the house for Alex Witt!!!! He was wonderful! He is from Clinton Country…..Arkansas.
‘ Today, I ask for your help with my laboratory research. It will only take a few minutes.
The concept of a “physics gene” or “poetry gene” might not be a joke. Intellectual predispositions are likely to be driven in part by genes – including those that drive autism, mood disorders, and substance abuse.
My students and I are building a tool to measure intellectual phenotypes. To participate, take our brief survey. ‘
i enjoy stuff like this, too. nice that there’s a personal result, not just thanks for the data. if you read the comments, it seems he gets a lot of mathematicians and physicists on his site. i was glad to provide him with a sample of a ‘regular’ non-brilliant person’s data!
Hopefruit, you are not. Remember when he shared with us what his Toot said to him? He called her and asked how was the speech…., and she replied, “Fine. Barry, smile more.” She knew that smile was given to him in his mother’s womb. And of all people, his grandmother had seen it from day one of his life, I do believe. Beautiful. HZ
‘ (The Borowitz Report)—The international terror group known as Al Qaeda announced its dissolution today, saying that “our mission of destroying the American economy is now in the capable hands of the U.S. Congress.”
In an official statement published on the group’s website, the current leader of Al Qaeda said that Congress’s conduct during the so-called “fiscal-cliff” showdown convinced the terrorists that they had been outdone. ‘
Very interesting reading, thanks Dudette. I notice that Orin Hatch was as much a drip then, standing in the path of progress in the 80s, as he is today.
It’s as you describe, Susanne, but the reality for McConnell & Boehner is that PBO offered them an exceptional deal that would have passed with strong Dem support in August 2011 and they rejected (strike 1), he made them an offer 4 weeks ago, again with sufficient support from Dems for it to pass, and they rejected it (strike 2). Now, they each get one more swing.
But, the fact is, he did not ever need to throw either the 2nd or 3rd pitch. He has actually tried to save the GOP from it’s teabagger terrorist wing. I doubt if the mercy he’s demonstrated will be extended beyond this weekend.
You explain it so well Bobfr – the pretend reality of McConnell & Boehner was that GOP money would make PBO a one term President – in 2011 the GOP didn’t want to pass anything that would be of benefit to the US, in case the President received some good press – interesting how reality has highlighted the stupidity of their thinking. The GOP has hit lose/lose and Boehner’s solution is eating, drinking and smoking – crying has worn out it’s welcome.
anybody else feeling this is the last saturday in a long, challenging year? i’m still in my pajamas, and i’m not sick or depressed–just tired!
last night’s full moon was shining onto my face and body throughout the night. it was beautiful and, i had read, the 13th full moon of 2012. seems fitting we had an extra full moon, with so much piled into this past year!
chips, tods, you have been an inspiration and a source of pride, as well as noble teachers throughout 2012. mahalo nui loa~
This forum is always an encouragement to me especially during challenging times. The re-election of President Obama gives me an ongoing boost, as does my new little granddaughter (21 months) with her laugh and boundless energy. I am hopeful for the future and that future generations will be a source of healing and new life for our planet.
perfect timing, jazz! this is a wonderful telling of the year’s journey–so rich and full of work, hugs, tears, wins! the ohana chips has built here is a branch of the sturdy tree, the limitless forest of fine americans who recognize, support, and celebrate our president and his work. i was feeling tired, and this shows what we’ve been through together–but also it re-inspires, re-invigorates, and renews the commitment to keep up the good work, this year and every year.
Okay here in North Carolina I will try to fine out the time. I believe it will come on 2pm on MSNBC, but I think I will watch the early one. I just found out that it will be on at 10am Sunday morning on NBC.

that’s just disgusting. no doubt he needs a drink, but this is beyond unseemly, when people are about to lose their unemployment benefits in the middle of winter, sandy victims’ benefits are awaiting his chamber getting to work, and financial markets around the world are quivering in fear over america’s dysfunctional lawmakers.
I have a question what is it with the Republicans and their hatred for the poor? They want to cut any and everything dealing with healing the needy and the poor, but they will, they are fighting to the death for rich folks, big oil companies, wall st.
We didn’t keep a tally of the popular vote until 1824. Since then, just seven presidents have won a majority of the popular vote at least twice. Abraham Lincoln carried just 39.8% of the vote in his first election, but received 55% in 1864 (when the entire South wasn’t too interested in voting). Nixon and Bush also each won majorities once, but not twice. Neither Wilson nor Clinton ever won a majority of the popular vote.The last president to win 51% 2x was not even Reagan but Eisenhower. Obama’s in pretty rare company.
And yet who has the media and the pundits been giving credit for this president’s Historic accomplishments? Luck. Bill Clinton. Anybody but the deserved Man, one Mr. Barack H. Obama…….POTUS.
But our History Books will record and the Internet would as well. The world knows. And most of Americans Know……so….screw the Naysayers.
AMK, I am very impressed with both you and Japa in your predictions. I think Japa had predicted a 4% win and it’s almost there. And you had projected a 5 million popular vote win and you are in striking distance. Bottom line: this was an impressive win by the President, given all the forces united in trying to deny him a second term.
Yes indeed, Hopefruit2! I think by the time New York finishes counting all the votes, President Obama’s popular vote margin of victory will be 5 million or almost 5 million votes. He is now ahead by more than 4.8 million votes. This translates to 51% of popular votes for the President and 47% for Mr. 47%, Mitt Romney. Basically, Romney got the same percentage of votes as John McCain got in 2008. It’s the combined total of the other candidates that went up to about 2% this election compared to less than 1% in 2008 that reduced the President’s percentages. Other than winning Indiana, and barely winning North Carolina, Romney did not do that much better than McCain. I also suspect that if it hand’t been for hurricane Sandy, Obama’s popular vote margin would even be much greater.
Compare to the RNC, well let me say there was no comparing. Just like Ann Romney’s speech couldn’t compare to FLOTUS, despite how much the media tried to say what a good job Ann did. And Clint Eastwood looked a messed and his speech was as terrible as he look. Was it a speech? Whatever it was it was horrible.
ann, it was the best I had ever seen and I have watched several including the 1968 convention in Chicago. I was 12 years old. I strongly believe that the 2012 Democratic Convention will go down in history as one of the best political party convention ever.
Fox and ED Hill called this June fist bump in MN…..a terrorist bump.
But on 11-06-12……All the pretenses by Fox is now known worldwide. They embarrassed themselves and all their support for the TBGOPers were all full of Sound and Fury, signifying Nothing.
Gregory recorded interview with PBO today—–said Obama remains somewhat optimistic, did interview because wants to continue to put pressure on Repubs, said president did not seemed to be “over worried” about going over the cliff. Said president’s view is Republicans have a lot more to lose, that he campaigned AND WON on taxes raised on the top earners, protecting middle class, believes he has the stronger hand.
Will wait to hear what the president actually says. Gregory’s summary is of no interest to me. Want to hear the President’s own words. Sounds like Boehner has totally stopped working……not even pretending any more.
Bill Moyers Essay: Remember the Victims, Reject the Violence
In this timely essay, Bill urges us to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre by name. He also rejects the notion of doubling down on guns and body armor as a response, and encourages all of us to work hard on realistic and moral solutions
Awesome! I wonder what the NRA’s response is to this. Plus those Officers with itchy trigger fingers? I can see the bad guys dying plus half the students in the class. Not to mention the teacher/Principal. NRA=NumbRepugAssholes!
Just an update : As of this moment, the “good” rep from AZ hasn’t answered me yet. I’ll let you know, in the mean time, these need to be seen and the RW talking points and their NRA bs needs to be called out. Everytime.

Which section of the U.S. Constitution says that Churches are to be exempt from taxation? Certainly not Article I, sect.2, nor the 16th Amendment. Exemption of churches from taxation is by federal statute passed by Congress. Congress, if it so choses, can rescind that exemption. The 1st Amendment clause which guarantees freedom of religion says absolutely nothing about religious exemption from taxation. News businesses are not exempt from taxation despite the fact that the 1st Amendment guarantees freedom of the press. I really think that these religious institutions, which are increasingly actively involved in politics, do not deserve to be exempted from paying taxes. I say it’s time to tax the multi-million tele-evangilist churches, the Catholic Church, the Mormons, etc.!

Good evening TOD Fam! Just in from my family Christmas Party. In spite of the weather, it was a huge success! There were five generations of my family present, were are just so Blessed. The talent show went well, highlights — Chris Nelson (who posted a video Christmas card here on Christmas Eve) sang an A Capella version of “The Christmas Song,” and another guest that sang and played the harmonica. I have very talented family and friends. I’m becoming very emotional in my old age (my Marines wouldn’t recognize me…) — I really choked when I was toasting the family. I was ok welcoming the newest member of the fifth generation; however, when I was memorializing those family members and friends that have passed this year, the tears just flowed. One of my “Obama Seniors” died this past Thursday. I am so going to miss him! He was a walking history book — WWII, Civil Rights, Negro League Baseball. Loved the stories he used to tell me about my grandfather. Loved the calls reminding me to turn on Rev Al’s radio show. Loved that while his body aged, he was young at heart. Loved that he encouraged me to be all that I could be. I am so going to miss him…
Well, I’m going to crawl into bed, fire up the laptop and catch up on today’s TOD.
Sweet. So happy you had a wonderful, fun-filled, emotional, memory-filled day….and sure you made new memories. Sorry for the loss of the special “Obama Seniors.” (((HUGS)))
Heartwarming story Alycee. Loved hearing about the festivities, especially that music made it so special. Condolences on the loss of your loved ones. Thank you for sharing such beautiful memories.
Hey TOD, if we give John Boehner a bottle half-filled with booze (1/2F) as a Christmas present, the bottle is half empty (1/2E). Now if we give Boehner a bottle filled with booze, applying the same principle to the half-filled/half-empty bottle, the completely filled bottle is completely empty as well (1/2 F= 1/2E, therefore F=E). So if he drinks the whole bottle (which he did), then he’s not drinking anything. So how can we accuse Boner of drinking too much?
It just doesn’t get any better than Dave. I too was one of those weird kids who stay up late nights to watch Dave after the parents were asleep. Turns there were millions out there just like me.

With new votes in from NYC, PBO has officially hit 51% of the vote! 51.06 to be exact to Romney’s 47.21. PBO is just 35,000 shy of a 5 mil popular vote lead and Hawaii and New York are not yet certified. Happy news to go into the new year.
Yum. Hearty sounding dinner straight from LL’s cookbook. Have a nice relaxing eve, and yes I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s developments on the cliff.
I THINK THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO BE RAISED…WHY IS THE PRESIDENT SENDING 20 F-16 FIGHTER JETS TO EGYPT AS PART OF A 2013 FOREIGN AID PACKAGE…ESPECIALLY WHEN EGYPT AND MORSY ARE NOTHING BUT CORRUPT?
No and WHYYYYYYYYY? I’m getting drunk, getting drunk, getting drunk, partying, getting drunk, getting drunk, getting drunk, and ringing in the New Year in an alcohol induced and roomful of friends stupor.
No friend. I have no confessions to make. I believe that is amk’s domain tonight. Look at all the “cattitude” posts. They’re not from me. I have not yet entered the Twilight Zone.
This is actually one of my complaints (pet peeves) about my area – there is nothing for very young adults to do as party entertainment or for social interaction so mostly they just get drunk and act silly. There are planned activities for children, teenagers and the sports minded, and of course the older adults have their parties or bars or balls, or whatever, but by default young adults have to come up with their own stuff, and it’s usually drinking. I find it somewhat frustrating.
WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED…IF IT’S NOT IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD…THEY COULD CARE LESS. THERE ARE SEVERAL PAYCHECKS IN DC THAT NEED TO BE REDUCED…THAT WOULD BE A GOOD START!

Chips, I have been out all day, just getting in. I had to thank you for the videos of 2012. I am so full of gratitude that you are here and the reflections are just so overwhelming, so much to absorp and take in. How did four wonderful years just slip by? The next four are just going to take us there…..wherever there is, I definitely want to be there. I am excited, so excited for us all.
Thank you everyone for all the great music, videos and information. I donated a small but loving amount to Debbie Wasserman and to the Inauguration. The season has strapped me humbly, but I just had to. Will call and leave messages again to the three stooges who dare under estimate our President. He and his family should be together for New Years……this is so wrong in so many ways.
Any night owls still up?
The party is just getting started in NY, the City that never sleeps. If not, I understand……
Dear @NancyPelosi It's obvious you're in control. Just flip 17 Rs before 3 Jan 2013, oust Boehner & let's build a better America. #YesWeCan— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) December 30, 2012
So good of you to provide support to DWS & the Inauguration!!
15 Steps to a much higher quality of life in America
1 Mandatory liability insurance for ANY person using a gun of any type;
2 Proof of insurance to purchase a gun of any type and ammunition of any type;
3 Stringent limits on the amount of ammunition one can purchase – if we can do it for Sudafed (see attached image) we can certainly do it for ammunition;
4 Rigorous gun training (for the type of gun used) including safety prior to issuing a license – said license required before insurance is issued;
5 License required before a person is legally authorized to use or purchase a gun and ammunition;
6 License must be renewed annually;
7 License includes mandatory 28 day waiting period, background check for any criminal record (including juvenile criminal record), & mental health check (paid for by revenues collected from license fees on guns, ammunition excise tax, and license fees for certification of user);
8 License fee on each gun – renewed every 3 years;
9 Excise tax on ammunition to the equivalent of at least 50% the retail purchase price per round;
10 Excise tax on all reloading equipment, casings, gun powder, etc equivalent to at least 50% the retail purchase price;
11 Mandatory jail sentences, structured appropriately, for violation of any of the above;
12 Stringent product liability on manufacturers of guns, ammunition and the makings of ammunition if their product is used illegally.
13 Shutter all online ability to purchase guns, ammunition and makings of ammunition;
14 Restrict sales at gun shows to all the standards required at any wholesale/retail outlet with the added exception that any purchase must be shipped, i.e., can’t leave a gun show with a gun, ammunition or the makings of ammunition;
15 Total ban on combat weapons (and any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun with a magazine size larger than 5 rounds).
good list bob. may i add that sellers of weapons, whether stores or gun shows or private individuals, be licensed, have liability insurance, and also be subject to criminal penalties if they sell to anyone whose license, insurance, etc is not in order (just like liquor stores).
thanks for keeping the momentum going on this. i know our attention spans are short, but it seems the news cycle has moved on to new issues and interests already. the pressure on lawmakers to deal effectively in preventing gun-crazies from mowing people down has weakened as time has passed. your work makes a difference!
sweet schadenfreude at year’s end, from tpm: ‘The GOP’s Five Greatest Disappointments In 2012′
‘This was a bad year for the Republican Party. What started out as a year of hope that they would return to power ended in a series of profound disappointments that left party strategists debating whether the GOP would become a permanent minority unless they change course.’
Good Morning TOD family. I will be watching MTP for the 1st time since 2008. Here are the twitter handles of the commentator. Remember to hit him hard if he doesn’t let the President answer the questions.
The videos of 2012 are magnificent. Just watched March. I’m taking it slowly. This one creates some pensiveness, sadness, reflection. The images of young Trayvon Martin. Seeing his birthdate in February of 1995 — for the first time it hit me that he was almost exactly my daughter’s age. She was born in March 1995. I knew that he was 17, but seeing his dates, the bookends of his lifetime, brought it home in a deeper way. President Obama’s compassion for Trayvon’s family and leadership in calling it the crime that it is, means so much. Poignant, this month of images. It moves me how heavy his burdens and duties are, and how much he seems to draw energy and joy and power from reaching out to shake our countless impossibly numerous hands, to meet our eyes when he is working his way along the perimeter of a crowd. He sees that we are here, that we care, and need leadership and advocacy, that we count on him and appreciate him, and that lifts him up above the stinkbomb clouds of mendacity, hatemongering, conniving and destructiveness that bad people keep slinging in his direction. He’s got a wall to keep it out, and that wall is partly made up of us. Thank you for TOD, thank you thank you thank you.
Good Afternoon TODers!
Congrats, Nena:) Quick fingers.
No. Just pure luck. As I signed in again, Leave A Comment greeted me. And My fingers went for it. Thanks DF.
Congrats you. Good afternoon to ya!
Congrats Nena!!
Thanks Dudette. TJ Holmes is still there on MSNBC in for Alex the Twitt. You never did answer my question from the last thread. How about it now? My mind is soooooo restless for the answers.
This ones for you 9t9. My stuff, back in the day.
OMG. Me and my high school buddies were in our DISCO SUCKS! t-shirts and torn blue jeans listening to Led Zepplin, the Stones and the Who …………………..
That was after my time. We wouldn’t a worn nothin’ with holes in it and it had to have a label.
“Members Only” ?? Remember that??
Oh hell yes. I’ll see if I can dig that up.
Is this the right one?
Actually, I meant this

NIce @ yardarm, love me some Bobby Bland!
Glad someone likes it. I did it by mistake.
I didn’t saaaaaaaaaaaaay I didn’t like it:) Just wasn’t what I was thinking about at the time. {{{{silly yardarm}}}}}}
Yardarm, I would love to hangout with you in your basement sipping on some good drinks and listening and reminiscing on these oldies but goodies!
Shooot! You might get up and cut a step or two, eh?
Pop on down to 332 for a real “Dusty”.
Yardarm , thanks for the memories….my Mother and Aunts used to have this man playing on Saturdays and dancing and whatnot….they used to go whereever to see him and BB :O) Good memories
More to come later on.
It was probably about the same time. We were mal-adjusted. And we could never figure out why we didn’t know any girls…..
Oh well. *hit happens, I guess.
hahaha
Hand to the sky, I thought seriously about applying to college in L.A. so I could be close enough to dance on Soul Train. Damned out-of-state tuition kept me from my dream!
You, Sir, are a precious gem! You make my heart sing!
Awww shucks! I’ve only just begun.
Congrats Nena on 1st. Isn’t it great?
Hello everybody.
Hi JER, we tied for 1st. Congrats.
Almost 2 times in one day
Presto, chango, top 10 I hope?
I have replayed that portion…..No Lie, at least 10 Times, yesterday alone. Lenny was on Fire.
Sho nuff!!
Lenny gives me Feeeevah! Check him out starting at 11:43… ssssssssssssssqueeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
He was giving it a lot of love. Just great. I will be watching him at least 10X more tonight.
These honors were EXCELLENT!
I missed the broadcast. If anyone runs across other portions, please hit us with the links, okay?
http://www.cbs.com/shows/kennedy_center_honors/video/
You truly are lovely! Thanks!
No worries, also great backstory on how legendary producer George Stevens Jr. who founded the Kennedy Center Honors put together the Zeppelin tribute especially “stairway to heaven”… hint Robert Plant was worried it would be disastrous like previous attempts http://www.feelguide.com/2012/12/29/obamas-letterman-led-zeppelin-blown-away-by-hearts-kennedy-center-honors-stairway-to-heaven/
Happy, joyful, yummy!
Thank you so much for this, lovelyplains!!
Just wonderful!!
That was unfracking believable. Loved Stairway to Heaven. They really nailed it.
Lovely tribute to Trayvon, Chips!!

Congrats on 1st Nena

Thanks Bobfr. Your tweets, I read just about all of them. You really Rock, Roll and on Fire 24/7.
Bobfr, you are the best!!!!HZ
Thank you Nena & HZ – hope you are both enjoying the holiday weekend!!

Oh yeah. It is sunny outside. That is always great. And visiting with my Fine TOD Community…..that is a treasure.
I remember “sunny outside.” Sigh.
Enjoying the rain, Bobfr. Hope you are enjoying your holidays as well.HZ
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & welcome back! Its a rainy day in so cal
Marvelously well done, Chips. Thank you!
Ewww, Mark McKinnon’s following me on Twitter! WTH! Should I block him?
Not yet. But he is a weasel……a painted sepulcher…..all painted nicely on the outside, but smelly….rotten on the inside.
I know. I feel icky just knowing he’s watching my tweets.
Please don’t. He used to be a Dem before he went for GW Bush……perhaps, his inner Dem is pleasantly enjoying your tweets? I think so.
Meh, don’t know about that. He’s a weasel of the highest order. But I respect what his organization “No Labels” is trying to do, so no blockage – for now.
Most perfect description of Mark McKinnon…
Thank you Chi!
Chi, I totally share your thrill!
Dudette, maybe he is following you because he loves all of the wonderful videos you post.
Couldn’t be more relevant to today …
#FORWARD
Thanks Bob for sharing this! It’s absolutely relevant to what’s going on today.
Compromise!…….Are you listening…..Weeper Boehner, McConnell and the DC Pundits?
Lovely as ever Chips.
Thank You, Madam.
Yes, our Chips is ~some kind of special~. Thank you, utaustinliberal, for this fabulous acknowledgement of her.
This!
Chips, stunningly beautiful video! Thanks.
Brought tears to my eyes! Truly beautiful!
Chips, you thrill our hearts and feed our souls. Thank you so much!
‘Chips, you thrill our hearts and feed our souls.’
Absolutely true, Chips Chica! You have set the bar so high, you have raised our blog palate way, way above the norm. THANKS HEAPS!
ps, Chica: You do realize that when you spoil your children as you have us, they become more demanding and feel more and more ‘entitled’?
Vc, you are so beautiful. Your words of expression:”Chips, you thrill our hearts and feed our souls.” That is the beauty of our Chips indeed. Thank you.HZ
Oopsie, HZ, you missed the original author! That’s a Dudette original that I was seconding.

No worries. Love you both! Group Hug: {{{vcprezofan2, HZ}}}
I’m not sure how to re-post my tweets here
@FardigJudith
@davidgregory Voters want compromise. Republicans, stop obstructing or be held responsible for tax hike on all! #don’tdroptheball #DoYourJob
Thank you for this Judith…
An important call to action…
Thanks so much, Judith.HZ
This is wonderful, Judith! I love the activism of people in Portland, OR. You are always on time and in the forefront!
Judith Fardig @FardigJudith
@davidgregory President Obama has a mandate for #middleclassovermillionaires. Republicans must #DoYourJob for American people, not Norquist.

This seems like a new low to me.
http://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/newtown-sandy-hook-school-shooting/hc-newtown-request-to-sue-1229-2-20121228,0,3515178.story
I agree…it is a new low…..but i find that there never seems to be a bottom…
the state is the People of CT….including the parents of the Children who did not survive,,,
Asshat should be suing the NRA for blocking the extension of the assault weapon ban.
so you can imagine the lawsuits that will bloom when teachers are armed and kids get caught, injured or killed in crossfire.
Hi TOD! Just testing my new phone to make sure I’m all setup. Hope everyone is still enjoying the holidays!
It works!!
Buried in Their Own Bullsh*t
http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2012/12/28/101852/18
Shit sandwich THEY made. Wonder if they think that tastes good? Right now, I hope they choke on the damn thing
Deaniac on the radio talking about SS and chained CPI
http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/12/video-deaniac83spandan-on-radio.html
that was really good. He really makes a good argument for chained CPI. I never even heard of it before last week !
Congressional leaders and senior aides huddled on Saturday in a last-minute attempt to iron out a resolution in the so-called “fiscal cliff” crisis. But a deal — at least for the time being — seemed far from certain.
http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/budget/274869-fiscal-talks-continue-in-senate-with-deal-far-from-certain
Up or down vote, then??
One sticking point in the talks continues to be on taxes, according to aides. President Obama has reiterated that tax cuts should extend to the middle class, asking top earners to pay more in taxes. But Republicans have insisted that tax cuts be extended for all taxpayers.
See?
Can’t wait for the debt ceiling debate!
Some love and goodness that will make you smile…and remind you that we really do have kind, gentle human beings on this Earth…

I look forward to the panel that PBO has set up to address gun violence/ because this discussion about the police being in schools is very alarming….
Here is the first Knoller tweet that is likely to give ideas to a certain section of the TOD populace.
Mark Knoller must be seriously bored with life.
I was thinking ~brain dead~. Really.
hahahahahah…these folks are so predictable
Mark Knoller definitely needs to get a life!
amazing that mark had nothing to say about the food. maybe he’s just jealous of that hug…
Now Susanne, you know I didn’t check Knoller’s TL so who knows if the food report was already on line and he had extra space to fill. This one caught my eye because Luann’s comment reminded me of some of my TOD siblings. A-hem.
a-hem hack cough…chortle choke… us?!
Mark tweeted this since 2010! Panthgrlgrail has been retweeting a whole bunch of stuff from 2010 & 11
Just shows how much I pay careful attention to Mark, etc.
LOL!
also just shows the trajectory of mark’s career….
Indeed! —-> Precious little, dare I say ‘no’ growth.
LOL! Was just coming over to post this!
Great picture!!
i had been scratching my head about how the president’s fiscal cliff deal works–couldn’t see how passing the ball to reid would help. we already knew the senate would work with the president. here’s smartypants’ ultra-smart explanation:
http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2012/12/fiscal-cliff-becomes-republican-cliff.html
Dumb asses. PBO signs bills he doesn’t write them. I guess they don’t understand the process.
I loved those changes….:-D
from sam wang:
‘ Today, I ask for your help with my laboratory research. It will only take a few minutes.
The concept of a “physics gene” or “poetry gene” might not be a joke. Intellectual predispositions are likely to be driven in part by genes – including those that drive autism, mood disorders, and substance abuse.
My students and I are building a tool to measure intellectual phenotypes. To participate, take our brief survey. ‘
http://election.princeton.edu/2012/12/26/in-search-of-the-nerdpoet-gene/
I’m a sucker for these things….I’m a deep thinker, says Sam’s research:)
i enjoy stuff like this, too. nice that there’s a personal result, not just thanks for the data. if you read the comments, it seems he gets a lot of mathematicians and physicists on his site. i was glad to provide him with a sample of a ‘regular’ non-brilliant person’s data!
ahhh… I have a below average score for thinking deeply….. sigh…… wait….. lemme think on that for a minute
I seem to be average all the way across… Oh well. I don’t feel average!
probably a good thing–the research is trying to find where mental illness meets genius, which is not an easy life.
My President has the best smile in the whole world and don’t nobody tell me I’m lying.
Beautiful. HZ
Indeed HZ, I do remember that beautiful story about PBO’s grandma Toot.
beautifully told, hz. thanks for the lovely image of those two.

Really neat story! Apologies if it’s a repeat…
Very interesting reading, thanks Dudette. I notice that Orin Hatch was as much a drip then, standing in the path of progress in the 80s, as he is today.
this is hilarious, in a dark, tragic, infuriating way. oh yeah–irony!
#TrustBarack
You explain it so well Bobfr – the pretend reality of McConnell & Boehner was that GOP money would make PBO a one term President – in 2011 the GOP didn’t want to pass anything that would be of benefit to the US, in case the President received some good press – interesting how reality has highlighted the stupidity of their thinking. The GOP has hit lose/lose and Boehner’s solution is eating, drinking and smoking – crying has worn out it’s welcome.
Bob, as always, you have such a keen grasp of the political reality.
What an irony indeed, Bobfr. Thanks again, Bobfr. You are always to the point. Thanks for all that you do.HZ
Thank you HZ!!!
anybody else feeling this is the last saturday in a long, challenging year? i’m still in my pajamas, and i’m not sick or depressed–just tired!
last night’s full moon was shining onto my face and body throughout the night. it was beautiful and, i had read, the 13th full moon of 2012. seems fitting we had an extra full moon, with so much piled into this past year!
chips, tods, you have been an inspiration and a source of pride, as well as noble teachers throughout 2012. mahalo nui loa~
Love your full moon story, susanne! And the “13th full moon of 2012″ explains a lot!
This forum is always an encouragement to me especially during challenging times. The re-election of President Obama gives me an ongoing boost, as does my new little granddaughter (21 months) with her laugh and boundless energy. I am hopeful for the future and that future generations will be a source of healing and new life for our planet.
A review of the past year from the obamabiden website
http://my.barackobama.com/Our-Journey
perfect timing, jazz! this is a wonderful telling of the year’s journey–so rich and full of work, hugs, tears, wins! the ohana chips has built here is a branch of the sturdy tree, the limitless forest of fine americans who recognize, support, and celebrate our president and his work. i was feeling tired, and this shows what we’ve been through together–but also it re-inspires, re-invigorates, and renews the commitment to keep up the good work, this year and every year.
What time does Meet the Press come on? I’m thinking it’s 10 am or 10:30am on NBC. Will the interview be tape or live?
It’s 0900 hours cst tommorrow and 1300 on MSNBC.
It depends where you live. The time varies. The interview was taped today.
Okay here in North Carolina I will try to fine out the time. I believe it will come on 2pm on MSNBC, but I think I will watch the early one. I just found out that it will be on at 10am Sunday morning on NBC.
Boehner chooses to work on margaritas, not fiscal cliff stuff.
that’s just disgusting. no doubt he needs a drink, but this is beyond unseemly, when people are about to lose their unemployment benefits in the middle of winter, sandy victims’ benefits are awaiting his chamber getting to work, and financial markets around the world are quivering in fear over america’s dysfunctional lawmakers.
No responsible lawmaker should ever “need a drink” – but then again Boehner may be many things – responsible is not among them
What a sorry ass Speaker of the House.
I have a question what is it with the Republicans and their hatred for the poor? They want to cut any and everything dealing with healing the needy and the poor, but they will, they are fighting to the death for rich folks, big oil companies, wall st.
dealing with helping the poor is what I meant to say.
Is this for real?
Our President keeps accumulating more votes even as we post!
they’re STILL counting votes???????? Pitiful
Probably because of hurricane Sandy in that area during the election. Only on that basis will I cut them any slack.
If that’s the reason, I’m fine with it. Any OTHER reason…pitiful
As long as PBO keeps gaining (and not losing), I’m okay with it!
Booyah!
Exactly, Nena! Talk about revisionist history!
Yes, DF, that’s the reason. It’s also the reason why the NY turn out is currently about 10% less than 2008!
Great news! The new votes put PBO over 51% mark to Romney’s 47% . 4% spread and Romney gets his 47%.
According to Dave Wasserman’s documentation, the state of New York is the only state with uncounted votes still.
Thanks HF2. Amk paid his bet too early? It is getting real close to 5M votes.
The difference now is 4,965,519.
I am loving it.
Hi Nena
I bet on 5 million PV (which japa agreed with) and 4.5% lead (which he did not). So I lost.
wrong emoticon.
Gauvin missed the best fistbump of all
https://twitter.com/JeffersonObama/status/28516230570301440
This one
the moment when all but the hate-iest of haters fell in love with the love of Barack and Michelle Obama
That fist bump, I forgot about this and I forgot were POTUS came pretty close to giving FLOTUS a pat on her behind.
I listen to FLOTUS fantastic DNC speech again today. That Convention was the best I have ever seen.
It was by far the best Anniebella. It was the first time that I ever watched the entire convention. I was actually anxious for it to start everyday.
Ah, the “terrorist” fist bump!!
adorable!
Those crazy ass radical extreme Republicans, “terrorists” fist bump.
As Jodi Kantor would say – hmmmm……
Do you have a link dotster? Or did you see it on NBC evening news?
Will wait to hear what the president actually says. Gregory’s summary is of no interest to me. Want to hear the President’s own words. Sounds like Boehner has totally stopped working……not even pretending any more.
i think he’s working on a pitcher of margaritas.
In other words, David Gregory Failed to make His right winger Gotcha News with this interview.
I hope that president Obama………firmly brushed the 6’5″ David Gregory off the POTUS’ shoulders.
I will be watching MTP for the 1st time in Years.
Me, first time ever. Wouldn’t know this Gregory guy if he sat by me on the bus. I would, however, know PBO if HE sat by me on the bus!
I hear you, Pamela……so would I indeed. So would I.
Delicious. Succulent……the little boy went for the Kiss…..Prince’s Song just came into my head.
oh I love this!
Awwww,sweetness!

Look at how young PBO looks in his first-ever Saturday address!!

I just picked an argument with a state rep from AZ about arming principals in AZ schools. Stupid ass.
oh good for you DF how’d it go? I’m guessing not quite good
He hasn’t replied yet
I gave him these to start out with….
And this:
Awesome! I wonder what the NRA’s response is to this. Plus those Officers with itchy trigger fingers? I can see the bad guys dying plus half the students in the class. Not to mention the teacher/Principal. NRA=NumbRepugAssholes!
that was very informative!
Just an update : As of this moment, the “good” rep from AZ hasn’t answered me yet. I’ll let you know, in the mean time, these need to be seen and the RW talking points and their NRA bs needs to be called out. Everytime.
Reality, df, totally.
Someone posted this tweet earlier today – the scenario could be any location containing any number of people, but the outcome would be the same …
Life ain’t a video game …
Thanks so much, Bob. Thank you for all you do.
You are a very tolerant person, DF! I would have walked away instead of wasting my breath on such idiocy.
The weeper is already boozing it up, hmmmmm? What a rusty orange crush?
What ashame. Millions of Americans struggling and wondering if they are going to be able to make ends meet, if there taxes are going up, if they are losing unemployment benefits, and the Speaker of the House is out there drinking, instead of passing the bill so 98% of Americans taxes won’t go up.
Anywhere to be seen in the US Press – or just UK?
Another beautiful video, Chips! Thanks so much for that, and all that you do here! Happy New Year to all my new TOD friends!
hint, hint, blog tyrant.
LOL.
Can’t! Freedom of religion!
Freedom of religion has nothing to do with who pays taxes
Yep.
Truth …
We all know Luke Russert isn’t worth sh*t, he a filthy mouth piece for the Republican Party.
Your tweets today are even better than usual – if that is possible – love the #ThingsFoundAtBottomOfFiscalCliff – the GOP – the truth in less than 140 characters
AMK! thanks that made me snort with laughter!
LOL! Good one!

Whether a Person is White or Black, or Republican or democrat, people need to chillax on these types of comments, especially on air.
Does anyone know what the plans are for the Obama’s tonight until Wednesday? I hope he has alone time with his family.
Only info am aware is the First Lady and daughters remain in HI until 6 Jan … but that’s a couple of days old news …
I thought his family were still in Hawaii – did I miss the return trip?
carolmaewy, I was thinking the same thing. How long would FLOTUS, Malia and Sasha remain in Hawaii?
Just wondering, my house feels so empty right now because is working long days.
I see I left out the word spouse.
I’m sure the WhiteHouse feels empty as well – part of the GOP plan – ensure PBO never gets a holiday – despite that RWNJs complain about the cost of those holidays he doesn’t have.
Something tells me that PBO will not be happy spending New Year’s eve just he and Bo in the WH.
aaaaaannnnd “your” is spelled wrong. should be “you’re”. figures
show their ignorance – all the time
That’s the “teabagger tell”
TEABAGGERS ARE SELFISH,IGNORANT FOOLS…UNFORTUNATELY, AMERICA IS FULL OF THEM!
Poor poor birdie.
What is birdie trying to do, pray tell?
That’s all folks.
LMAO! This guy clearly came into this world because of alcohol, and probably brought all his offspring on earth by that same method.
He looks eggg-zackly like a 4X4 little curmudeon I work with named Murray! Has anyone named Murray EVER been attractive??
HAHA! Not as a first name.
For TOD-ers who follow your favorite Secret Service agents, you might enjoy this documentary …
oooh! thanks, sara.
Sorry for the loss of the special “Obama Seniors.” (((HUGS)))
that sounds wonderful Alycee! Your family is a treasure.
Clever girl.
Remind me not to let you babysit any of my young family members! LOL!!
no no this is one of those math word questions…..
No no.. it’s not a math word question. It’s a cautionary tale about accusing certain congressmen of drinking without having all the facts.
ha!
I loved TinaFey – not sure about the rest
I loved all of them! What a magnificent, down to earth, hilarious, tribute! I love David Letterman very much. I think he is a very witty comedian.
That was GREAT! I laughed, I cried!
It just doesn’t get any better than Dave. I too was one of those weird kids who stay up late nights to watch Dave after the parents were asleep. Turns there were millions out there just like me.
Thanks Bob!
With new votes in from NYC, PBO has officially hit 51% of the vote! 51.06 to be exact to Romney’s 47.21. PBO is just 35,000 shy of a 5 mil popular vote lead and Hawaii and New York are not yet certified. Happy news to go into the new year.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjYj9mXElO_QdHpla01oWE1jOFZRbnhJZkZpVFNKeVE#gid=19
hahaha – she really thought you people would vote for Mitt
That’s good. That’s very, very good. (First time I saw AR’s name in a while – that’s even better.)
So I’m continuing my 11 days of relaxation. Today I started watching “Elementary”, and it’s quite entertaining.
Tonight’s menu:
Pasta with homemade pesto (which really isn’t hard at all)
Mixed greens salad
Country french bread
And now off to have a glass of Zin. See y’all later! I predict we’ll hear quite a bit about the cliff tomorrow.
Yum. Hearty sounding dinner straight from LL’s cookbook. Have a nice relaxing eve, and yes I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s developments on the cliff.
That’s not quite what MSNBC had in mind…
Same ones who pretended Katrina did no damage
You know guys, time is on our side. It’s going to take a long while more, but our side is the future.
Yes.
I agree with you, magpie! This is the time for young people to take control of the country.
I THINK THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO BE RAISED…WHY IS THE PRESIDENT SENDING 20 F-16 FIGHTER JETS TO EGYPT AS PART OF A 2013 FOREIGN AID PACKAGE…ESPECIALLY WHEN EGYPT AND MORSY ARE NOTHING BUT CORRUPT?
Senator Burr is the Republican jackass from North Carolina.
Is anyone planning to watch (or DVR) the Twighlight Zone New Years Eve marathon?
No and WHYYYYYYYYY? I’m getting drunk, getting drunk, getting drunk, partying, getting drunk, getting drunk, getting drunk, and ringing in the New Year in an alcohol induced and roomful of friends stupor.
Sober reminder. Semester starts next week.
Thanks for offering to drive ut to and from her classes. You’re a good sport amk.
Heh, an old man is an old man.
Whose semester? Not mine.
I see that you’re already in the Twilight zone and it’s not yet even New Year’s Eve….hmmm….
No friend. I have no confessions to make. I believe that is amk’s domain tonight. Look at all the “cattitude” posts. They’re not from me. I have not yet entered the Twilight Zone.
Well, you won’t need to watch the Twilight zone on TV – you will be IN the Twilight zone after all that drinking…
I will play it safe this year, as I’ve done for the last __ years.
I probably won’t DVR it, but I’ll watch some of it. It comes on every New Years Eve. I should be tired of it by now, but I’m not
And the House only wants 24 billion, cutting what they say is waste.
So, they will put it off until next Congress?
Heartless bastards!
WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED…IF IT’S NOT IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD…THEY COULD CARE LESS. THERE ARE SEVERAL PAYCHECKS IN DC THAT NEED TO BE REDUCED…THAT WOULD BE A GOOD START!
Of Course Toomey is in the bunch
Eric Cantor comes to mind as I read that tweet.
A panda walks into a burger joint, orders a burger, pulls out a gun shoots the waiter and leaves.
The waiter looks up and says what the hell is wrong with you.
And the panda says: “I read that pandas eat shoots and leaves.”
Gunnite folks.
I agree.
Night all.
I hope by now everyone knows not to support Ringling Bros. Circus—–or any circus with performing elephants or animals. Those who do are supporting the most vile form of animal abuse—-elephants confined in chains and trains and abused with bullhooks, whips and electric prods, animals living tortured lives.
I have always refused to go to the circus or take my kids to the circus. I can’t read it.
The only circus I go to is Cirque du Soleil. Beautiful bodies doing amazing things.
I’ve never been, but my daughter has. She was mesmerized.
IF FLOTUS and the girls are not home by New Year’s Eve, then PBO will spend the day alone with Bo in the WH.
Personal sacrifice for the good of the country…….This shouldn’t have to be. – smh!
Did Bo return with him?
Yes.
Prelim reports Hagel to be nominated SecDEF as early as Monday according to http://gestetnerupdates.com/2012/12/29/sources-hagel-to-be-nominated-monday-for-defense-secretary/ man who is the source seen w/ PBO http://t.co/BblpGtg4
dont take this as gospel, many prominent Jewish D’s have said they have recieved no word so keep your ear open tommorow if the Neo-cons are going ballistic on starting on Sunday shows and throught the day.
Yardam! No, you didn’t!
Still awake – barely – LDS ….
So good of you to provide support to DWS & the Inauguration!!

15 Steps to a much higher quality of life in America
1 Mandatory liability insurance for ANY person using a gun of any type;
2 Proof of insurance to purchase a gun of any type and ammunition of any type;
3 Stringent limits on the amount of ammunition one can purchase – if we can do it for Sudafed (see attached image) we can certainly do it for ammunition;
4 Rigorous gun training (for the type of gun used) including safety prior to issuing a license – said license required before insurance is issued;
5 License required before a person is legally authorized to use or purchase a gun and ammunition;
6 License must be renewed annually;
7 License includes mandatory 28 day waiting period, background check for any criminal record (including juvenile criminal record), & mental health check (paid for by revenues collected from license fees on guns, ammunition excise tax, and license fees for certification of user);
8 License fee on each gun – renewed every 3 years;
9 Excise tax on ammunition to the equivalent of at least 50% the retail purchase price per round;
10 Excise tax on all reloading equipment, casings, gun powder, etc equivalent to at least 50% the retail purchase price;
11 Mandatory jail sentences, structured appropriately, for violation of any of the above;
12 Stringent product liability on manufacturers of guns, ammunition and the makings of ammunition if their product is used illegally.
13 Shutter all online ability to purchase guns, ammunition and makings of ammunition;
14 Restrict sales at gun shows to all the standards required at any wholesale/retail outlet with the added exception that any purchase must be shipped, i.e., can’t leave a gun show with a gun, ammunition or the makings of ammunition;
15 Total ban on combat weapons (and any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun with a magazine size larger than 5 rounds).
Yes We Can
good list bob. may i add that sellers of weapons, whether stores or gun shows or private individuals, be licensed, have liability insurance, and also be subject to criminal penalties if they sell to anyone whose license, insurance, etc is not in order (just like liquor stores).
thanks for keeping the momentum going on this. i know our attention spans are short, but it seems the news cycle has moved on to new issues and interests already. the pressure on lawmakers to deal effectively in preventing gun-crazies from mowing people down has weakened as time has passed. your work makes a difference!
Thank you Susanne. Good suggestions!! Will add them to the next iteration of the list.
I think VP Biden will not allow the issue to dissipate in any way.

okay, todville, aloha for tonight~
Good Morning TOD family. I will be watching MTP for the 1st time since 2008. Here are the twitter handles of the commentator. Remember to hit him hard if he doesn’t let the President answer the questions.
@MeetthePress
@davidgregory
Morning everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/12/30/rise-and-shine-387/
