His record in promoting and practicing diversity is self-evident! Surely, if the media were not out to falsify and distort the President’s record they would be familiar with these facts:
1. President Obama appointed, in succession, two women (one Latino/Hispanic and one Jewish) to the U.S. Supreme Court.
2. President Obama appointed the first African American in U.S. history as the U.S. Attorney General
3. President Obama appointed five women to his cabinet, including the coveted cabinet position of Sec. of State
4. President Obama appointed an African American as the U. N. Ambassador and elevated her position to a cabinet rank
5. President Obama appointed a woman as head of the EPA
6. President appointed a woman as head of SBA
7. President obama appointed a record number of women, people of color and gay people to Federal judgeships
As David Letterman asked, what else do we want from this man (our President)? Why won’t the media and some self-serving politicians give him some space so that he may implement his policies?
May be I am alone, but I did not vote for President Obama expecting him to magically solve, overnight, all the problems that his 43 predecessors could not solve.
I am angry at our unethical media, which thrives on sensationalism. I am angry at the crazy and hypocritical Republicans who, when we had Republican presidents, championed the notion that a president has a right to pick members of his cabinet (so long as they were qualified and had no ethical issues) that he thinks would do the job. I am angry at the privileged, so called progressives, who have been as relentless as the tea baggers, in attacking everything President Obama does while erroneously claiming to be his base. But, I am now even more angry at some self-serving Democratic members of Congress, like Charles Rangel, who are now backstabbing the President. Surely, as member of Congress, and a well seasoned politician, Charles Rangel knows the President’s record on diversity. Rangel also knows the complexity of what it takes, when you are the first African American President to govern a diverse country, where 47% of the people think that you should not be President primarily because of the color of your skin. So, why is Rangel acting like a jilted lover based on a manipulated picture?
As my grandmother used to say, “talk is Cheap!” I challenge all the bashers of President Obama to produce documented evidence of past U.S. presidents who had a more diverse administration than that of President Obama. For the media to fixate on one distorted photo, probably pushed by a reporter with an agenda intent on denigrating President Obama, as the yardstick to assess President Obama’s entire record on diversity is both absurd and unethical.

Bill R. I got so piss with her ranting and raving about the drone program. Honestly I need a break from her and Ed for awhile.
A huge majority of the American people support the drone program and understand that it saves American lives, and means we don’t have to send soldiers in to take those creeps out.

Except she wants to have her cake and to eat it too. The choice is troops on the ground or drones. If the wars had never started in the first place, then there wouldn’t need to be a choice. But the decision was made to go to war, and the media allowed Afghanistan to sit by the wayside while an ill-gotten adventure was had in Iraq. They didn’t report about it, they didn’t ask questions about the mission. And then they allowed Bush to spend his last years basically ignoring the troops, except for photo-op time at Thanksgiving, and they gave him kudos for his undercover flying missions to deliver turkey.
Well, nearly 13 years later, this President is trying to clean up a God-awful mess. The war really only started when he laid down the mission, and so much damage had already been done. I heard Rachel the other night lamenting why the troops didn’t leave after Bin Ladin was killed – as though she didn’t see first hand what a mission it is over there to fight for peace, and even to withdraw from war in Iraq when war isn’t even raging. She presents a skewed report of the war, and she’s not doing anyone – especially the troops – any favors with her biased and falsely naive reporting. She should know better. She’s been there. She’s had access to the President and Vice President. She’s got access to Richard Engel, who is usually on the ground. And then she wants to do these bogus reports that mislead the public about the efforts going on there and the effort it will take to withdraw – and she implies that the President is enjoying being a war President.
She would serve the public better to report on the ugly details of war, but to also report on the efforts being made to develop the country and economy, so that terrorism cannot fester there. Has she ever spoken of the pomegranate industry that the State Department is trying to grow, and the markets they’re opening up to create new industries? Has she ever spoken about how they are using technology to give the rural farmers access to global markets to sell their products, and teaching them how to produce by-products from their pomegranates? It’s all out there – she just needs to open her eyes and look.

You can’t have drones AND no troops on the ground. Drones keep AMERICAN SOLDIERS FROM GETTING KILLED! The best answer is no war at all, but in the interim, drones are the only option that doesn’t involve American men and women dying. It’s pretty simple.

I am a bit wary about someone with so much inside knowledge about the Obama family doing a sitcom about the White House while the Obama’s are still in residence. I saw the pilot episode of 1600 last week and at first, I did not think I would be able to watch because it started off being super over the top silly, but it calmed down a bit. My vote is still out on this one.

Usually when MSM give PBO cabinet members kudos – it’s usually meant as a subtle put down of PBO himself.
Ezra and his wife are the ones who propagated this diversity nonsense. It’s fine if people want to fight to have more women in positions of power, and especially in such a forward-thinking and historic Administration. But the way they have gone about it is really off-putting. They’ve implied that President Obama is anti-women and a chauvinist. That is so far from the truth, and clearly only suited to furthering a dark agenda. It’s a very low standard. They should be ashamed. Especially given the President’s actual record on diversity.

The Former Presidents Protection Act of 2012 restores lifetime protection for presidents and spouses who served after Jan. 1, 1997, and gives the children of former presidents protection until age 16.

The whole purpose of that pic was to distort and sensationalize the story. After all, how many of us idiot Americans remember that President Obama put two women on the Supreme Court (a record) or had five women in his cabinet (another record)? All we are programed to remember is our revulsion at seeing all those white males surrounding him along with one woman whose legs we can barely see. Translation: President Obama HATES WOMEN! Period! Oh, I forgot, Scarborough goes even farther, President Obama lied when he campaigned that he was for women equality! As an observer it appears to me that the choice for Hagel is a choice to recognize the end of the Cold War and the end of Bush’s wars. It means a leaner, meaner military with fewer expensive but unnecessary toys to wage large land wars of occupation, and the downsizing of overseas bases, especially in Europe. Europe doesn’t need to be defended from the Soviet Union any more. We don’ t need to be building and maintaining tanks any more, or stationing large armies abroad. It’s a 21st century world and the military strategy must adapt to it. Hagel recognizes that and the American people support it.

Astronomers have discovered the largest known structure in the universe, a clump of active galactic cores that stretches 4 billion light-years from end to end.
The structure is a large quasar group (LQG), a collection of extremely luminous galactic nuclei powered by supermassive central black holes. This particular group is so large that it challenges modern cosmological theory, researchers said.
“While it is difficult to fathom the scale of this LQG, we can say quite definitely it is the largest structure ever seen in the entire universe,” lead author Roger Clowes, of the University of Central Lancashire in England, said in a statement. “This is hugely exciting, not least because it runs counter to our current understanding of the scale of the universe.”

A staffer for Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-Minn.) unsuccessful presidential campaign says she has shorted him and other staffers on debts owed from the Iowa caucuses a year ago.
Dr. Peter Waldron said he believes the payment may have been withheld because the staffers cooperated with a law enforcement investigation of the campaign.
Waldron, a consultant in charge of outreach to Christian voters for the Bachmann for President campaign, said the campaign has refused to pay him and several other staffers for more than a year. The cumulative sum is small, about $5,000, Waldron said.
“I haven’t any idea, and I say that with great candor and humility, as to why Michele chooses not to pay a handful of staff,” said Waldron in an interview.
He suspects the payment has become embroiled in a lawsuit and criminal investigation into allegations that Bachmann’s Iowa campaign chairman stole a valuable voter list.
Waldron said he and several staffers on the campaign payroll were led to believe they would receive a full month’s pay for helping to clean up and shut down Bachmann’s Iowa campaign office after last year’s Jan. 3 caucuses.
“The staff submitted invoices with an expectation that they would be provided with an entire month’s retainer and there was every reason to believe that each of the employees in Iowa would be paid,” he said.

Maybe the Republicans will attempt to decapitate the federal government by leaving it without major Cabinet officials. In the end, they’ll fail—and thanks to the drafters of the Constitution, at least the deranged GOP House has no say in the confirmation process. But what’s happening is more proof that what we have in Washington is not a functioning Congress, but a one-ring circus on the far right.
And watch the freak show when the president proposes comprehensive immigration reform and moves forward on gun control. Already, Iowa Rep. Steve King has introduced a bill—which happens to be unconstitutional—that would deny citizenship to immigrant children born in this country. The only part of the Constitution that King and too many like him in the House seem to revere is the Second Amendment—in absolute and absolutely distorted terms. A week ago, I argued that it would be a mistake to bet against Biden’s chances of achieving progress on guns. After listening to the GOP stooges for the NRA—think of Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert, who said that a “hammer” could be “an assault weapon”—I’m ready to bet that not much gun legislation of any kind can get past Boehner’s brigades.
When the vice president said that Obama might act by executive order, the Drudge Report went into a frenzy, complete with pictures of Hitler and Stalin, apparently since taken down. The episode not only reveals the limitless shamelessness of Drudge, but the ugliness that pervades the opposition to Obama. And if you want to see it get even worse, just wait until the president selects someone to fill the next Supreme Court vacancy.
